Summary: it's movie night at the lair
It was rare that Donnie ever left his lab, he would always give 110% of himself to whatever project he had next and wouldn't stop until it was finished.
Which is where you found yourself now. It was late at night, and you were on the couch watching a new movie. The others were either out with friends or had gone off to bed, leaving you alone.
That is, until you came into the picture. Since starting a relationship with you, he'd been out in the lair more and more to spend time with you (and his brothers).
His brothers were thrilled that he was finally sleeping through the night and eating full meals, or even just relaxing on the couch.
Donnie was sitting at the end of the couch, elbow leaning on the armrest and the other around your shoulders, rubbing and holding your hand. You were laying the length of the couch with your head on Donnie's shoulder.
Donnie had trouble turning off his brain after a long day, and often had to focus completely on a smaller task to slowly come out of it. Often this meant he was playing chess, sudoku, or solitaire on his phone, not that you minded because he still snuggled up to you and held your hand while doing so.
You'd found out early in your relationship that one of Donnie's love languages was physical touch. Whether it be snuggling in bed, holding hands on a walk, or resting his hand on your leg during dinner, he was always touching you.
And you were not complaining, he was always so soft and gentle with you, using his nails to gently scratch at your skin and sooth any worries away.
Leo had finished his late-night meditation and joined the both of you, he brought himself and you a warm cup of tea.
Tonight, his fingers were running up and down your palm and sometimes your fingers. A soothing rhythm that almost had you dozing off.
He laid down on top of you with his head on your stomach and his arms around your waist.
Smiling down at him, you softly scratch the back of his head and after a minute you untie his mask, and set it on the coffee table.
After a few minutes, you leaned forward to take a long sip of your tea. You settled back in and quickly became engrossed in the film.
He was still doing the same easy rhythm as before, gentle scratches on the palm and the fingers.
About 20 minutes later, Leo kept nudging your elbow. When you peered down at him, he had a very amused look on his face. He jutted his chin toward his hand which was resting on your stomach.
You had to let go of Donnie's hand when you sat forward, but when you came back, Donnie had grabbed the first hand he felt: Leo's.
You covered your mouth with your hand to stiffle your giggle. How had he not noticed it wasn't your hand?
Well, it made a bit of sense: Donnie had grown up in a household where 3/4 people only had 2 fingers, and his brain had not yet registered that yours was different. In his mind, two fingers were normal.
Thankfully, the movie was a comedy, so Donnie didn't look up at yours and Leo's quiet giggling.
You leaned forward again to grab your teacup and coaster, making sure that Donnie's hand didn't leave Leo's.
You turned to Donnie, who didn't look up from his phone: You loudly slurped the drink.
Donnie hated loud eating and drinking noises and raised his eyes above his glasses to look at you.
"It's good tea," You shook from trying to hold in your laughter. Leo had also started to giggle at that.
Donnie fully raised his head, squinting at you with a small head tilt.
You raised the teacup on and off the coaster, trying to show him that both your hands were occupied.
"The tea set?" Donnie asked, glancing down at his phone for a moment. Through his glasses you saw a banner and confetti fly across the screen, before he turned the phone off and set it down.
"It's a very nice tea set," You nodded. "That I am holding,"
You felt Leo's arm tense, squeezing Donnie's hand, while he looked at yours and the tea.
"What-" He looked over you, seeing he was in fact holding his brothers hand and quickly jerked his hand away. "That's-"
You and Leo erupted into laughter, you had to set the cup down or else it would have fallen from your shaking hands.
"How long was I holding his hand?" He asked, starting to laugh himself.
"About 30 minutes," You covered your mouth, laughing harder at Donnies annoyed groan.
"Don't worry, I love you too, Donnie," Leo laughed, patting his brother's knee. Donnie smacks him on the shell right over his shoulder.
"C'mere," Donnie grumbled, pulling you back into his side and "aggressively" taking your hand in his and opening his phone again.
You all settled back into your spots and continued watching the movie.
From then on, Donnie counted how many fingers were on the hand he was holding.
