2003 Leo really is the most ‘subtle’ gay turtle I had no idea.
Also 2003 April is really good ❤️
#03 leo is very not straight#tmnt#tmnt 2003#2003 leo#i love how him and april bond in this one!#he's a lot more comfortable around her after this episode than he was before#there are only two ways to get into Leo's inner circle: camping and swords

I mean, I always think most characters are neurodivergent, so many of the people I generally interact with online and irl are
Tmnt are also generally very much a metaphor for othered groups, and personally I kind of like the ambiguity of the metaphor? Saying multiple things at once by not saying one thing, if that makes sense? Overall my headcanons for this specifically are incredibly fluid
1987 turtles are all texture sensitive, and I also see sensory seeking for all of them (their pizza toppings, Michelangelo with surfing, Raphael and Donatello's vocal stims, all four of them with jumping/zooming/waving their little turtle hands/things like op's example), there's some definite sticking to routine, tonal difficulty for all four. Donatello deals with hyperfocus to a degree that disrupts his life, Michelangelo definitely has special interests in surfing and animals, Raphael definitely has special interests
All of which things are associated with autism, many of which can also be adhd
I guess if I had to pin down headcanons for this I'd say
Leonardo: autism and anxiety
Raphael: autism and depression (gets much worse in later seasons)
Donatello: autism, adhd, depression
Michelangelo: autism and adhd
And since they all got autism they're less likely to recognize that as anything, if that makes sense. Especially since, 87 Splinter is also probably autistic in my opinion
And while we're here so is Irma. adhd for April
Leo bouncing this from his arm to his hand as he talks amuses me greatly
Any ADHD headcanons on this guy?

Save us! Save my child and my sick mother-in-law! 💔😭
My son, is suffering from severe infections, and my elderly mother-in-law is bedridden unable to walk after a coma caused by anemia. 😥
Our health is deteriorating, and the bombing never stops. We have already lost many of our relatives and loved ones. 😢💔
All I ask for is a chance to save my family. We desperately need medication for my son and mother-in-law, costing $60 weekly, as well as blankets, clothes to keep warm, and food, prices of which have increased more than 10 times . I don't know what to do to save my family!😓
Please, help us as much as you can. 🙏🥺

After a nice nap, all I can think of right now it the Turtles basking. Again.
Like April 03 just finding the Turtles sleeping in a sun beam in her apartment.
In 12 I can just picture them napping out at the farmhouse (well same with 03)
18 might just stretch out on a rooftop, or a custom basking room.
MM/TOTTMNT might just bask during lunch or outdoor P.E.
I don't have good examples for the others, but they would be similar to above, maybe.
Though whether basking is napping or just enjoying the sun is up to your imagination.

Gimme the PB&J dynamic in Shellshocked!
Ah my favorite duo!!
Don and Mikey are very amicable in Shellshocked, and probably spend the most one-on-one time together of the four. They hang out all the time; especially when Raph and Leo are at each other’s throats, these two can just go off and do their own thing, and leave the hotheads to figure it out.
They like to help each other with their various projects. Mikey will be Donnie’s little assistant in the lab, fetching tools for him or sorting screws and such. Donnie will be Mikey’s sous chef in the kitchen, reading out directions for him and fetching ingredients. They’re both chatterboxes, so they talk about anything and everything while they work. The others have walked in on some very odd conversations before (“what kind of apple would you say Donnie is? He says he’s a Honeycrisp but I say he’s more of a Fuji”).
They also like to just chill around the lair together. They’ll watch tv, or Donnie will read to Mikey (he’s dyslexic), or they’ll just play games like 20 Questions or Would You Rather.
Funny enough, when either of them is upset, they don’t go to each other. Donnie will go to Raph, and Mikey will go to Leo. Raph is good at helping Donnie find words for his emotions, and Leo is good at validating Mikey and his accomplishments. It’s not like Don and Mikey aren’t good at comforting each other, but their dynamic is just more lighthearted and whimsical, and doesn’t deal with the heavy stuff all that much. Each one of the boys has the brother that they go to when they’re really struggling, and it’s not always the brother you would expect.

What's Splinter's one-on-one dynamic with Donnie in Shellshocked? How does it feel to have your own son be smarter than you?
Well, I wouldn’t say Donnie is smarter than Splinter. They both have a lot of expertise, just in different fields.
Splinter is very proud of Donnie’s accomplishments, and tries to make that clear to him as often as possible. When Donnie first started showing an interest in engineering as a little kid, Splinter spent weeks scrounging up enough money to buy him a couple books on it. One time they found an old science kit in a goodwill drop box, you know like those Little Einstein type toy kits? Donnie went absolutely feral, and forced Splinter to play with him for days. It was missing half the parts, and some of the stuff was broken or used up, but he loved it anyway.
Now Donnie’s building actual working computers and robotics and stuff, and Splinter is so proud of how far he’s come. When Don first started working on his Bo staff he came running to Splinter all excited with all these ideas, and Splinter didn’t really get most of it but he encouraged him to try making it anyway. Now it’s got fingerprint recognition software and a taser and it’s Bluetooth compatible and who knows what else.
In his training, Donnie is very unsure of himself and doesn’t feel like he’s as capable a fighter as his brothers. Splinter is always gentle but firm with him, encouraging him and reminding him that his fighting style is different, more evasive and defensive, and that’s not a bad thing. That’s just who he is.
All in all Splinter is very proud of his son and makes sure he knows it

who has the best/worst immune system? who gets sick the easiest in shellshocked?
I think I’ve answered a similar question about the turtles in general, and it’s pretty much the same for Shellshocked
Mikey has the best immune system cause he stuck everything in his mouth as a kid and has built up a high tolerance as a result
Leo has the worst immune system cuz he never fuckin sleeps
As kids, Donnie got sick a lot, but he seemed to grow out of that as he got older. Now none of them get sick very often, but when they do, Donnie usually gets it first, and then it spreads like wildfire to the rest of them. Leo’s always sick the longest
Raph hates being sick, so at the first hint of a cold going around he barricades himself in his room to keep the germs away. It rarely works lol

Best cook of the Shellshocked boys?
Mikey’s the chef of the family! He’s a total foodie and loves to experiment with new dishes. He of course specializes in pizza lol but he cooks all kinds of stuff!
He makes a really good stew during the cold months, full of beans and beef and noodles. Splinter taught him how to make a lot of Japanese dishes like ramen and curries and yakitori. After he met Casey he asked him to teach him how make a bunch of Puerto Rican dishes too, so now he makes empanadas, pasteles, tostones etc. And when he’s bored, he’ll go to that website where you list the ingredients you have and it spits out a recipe, and just make a random dish it suggests
And as his brothers will attest, his homemade pizza is to die for

Extremely rough concept art of Venus de Milo.
Unlike the boys she's a sea turtle, a green sea turtle to be precise. They got attached to her when she was still an exhibit in the local aquarium, which led to Shredder kidnapping her to lure them into a trap. It worked but Michelangelo was able to communicate with her, leading to her tipping mutagen over herself in order to be able to save them.
Her mutation didn't work quite as well as theirs, her arms remained flippers and while the look of them draping around her is quite graceful and they're strong enough to hit people quite hard they're not very useful for anything that requires fingers. As a result she can't handle a weapon and uses mystic powers to fight - unfortunately mystic powers don't include telekinesis so this doesn't make her lack of hands moot. She's more hypnotising her enemies or giving them bad luck.
Leonardo took her very firmly under his wing as a new little sister and she's still very close to him. Michelangelo is a little jealous of her because her use of mystic powers is a lot more obvious than his (she does put in a lot more work) so people sometimes believe in hers but remain skeptical of his. Donatello, who is determinedly skeptical enough to sometimes doubt hers too, is the most annoying to her. Raphael treats her the same way he treats all his team, which is to say he complains no end about whatever she wants him to do and does it anyway.

hey it's cold enough out to bake! :D won't have time to make something today but here's a recipe
Preheat oven to 350
thaw 2 sticks butter (soft room temperature butter will give the nicest texture, so of you can, set it out early in the day or the night before. If not, melted will also work)
Combine:
2 cups flour
1 tsp salt
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp or less: cinnamon, nutmeg
In a separate, larger bowl,
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup sugar
1 1/4 tsp vanilla
1 cup (2 sticks) butter
2 eggs
Pour in the dry ingredients and mix till you got cookie dough texture
Add desired mix-ins, approx 1 1/2 cups (I like chocolate chips of course, would also recommend oatmeal or coconut flakes) (probably not all three tho)
Spoon onto a pan, I like to make em small and do 15 at a time
Bake 8-10 minutes, 8:30 is ideal in my oven but your results of course may vary
Now I really want homemade chocolate chip cookies...
#food#personal#beloved mutual#simple recipe that has brought me much joy over the years#gotta remember to post the recipe later for chocolate with mint chips#which is very similar but the cocoa powder does change the texture#oooh also loaded snickerdoodles

Do you ever find your own writing moving too fast
Like I'm trying to get to know the characters here and the next event just keeps on happening. They've been through so much when can they chill?? (<- is the one not letting them chill)
