hi sorry in advance if this is weird but i couldn't for the life of me figure out who machete was reminding me of and just now i figured it out - surku the dog from the moomins. can't remember enough to tell how accurate that is personality wise but something about the image of a distressed pointy-nosed dog shivering in a coat... plus ne on molemmat ahdistuneita queer ikoneita

But now that we're on the topic of Moomin characters, I must add that I see Machete in various Fillyjonks a lot. The short story Fillyjonk who believed in disasters is one of my favorite pieces of literature ever, when I first read it it shook me to my core, I still revisit it on yearly basis. For someone who seemed so wild and free spirited by nature, Tove Jansson did remarkable job at catching and depicting the essence of anxiety, uncertainty, vague sadness and irrational fears. At least in my opinion.

I look at those guys and let me tell you the soul of that thing ain't just in the puppet, it's in all the neurons carrying the thoughts and emotions, it's in the power rails that serve as the heart. All the memories in the memory conflux and all the numbers we see flicker across displays, the flux condensers, the puppet; a little avatar.

No way these massive machines see life the same way we do. They have their own experiences and senses and things they hold dear. A world we can't imagine, a way of living we couldn't even comprehend.

I could never tear an iterator apart to be just a puppet. Who am I to decide how's life supposed to be enjoyed or perceived?

You treat your creechurs however you want- I ain't gonna dictate that. But damn, hearing the thrums and buzzes of the linear systems rail? They are alive with so much power, these mechanical beasts are exactly what they should be.

I occasionally wish to reach out to old friends/acquaintances I haven't spoken to since high school/some other even earlier time in my life, but I have SOOO little social energy even for required tasks (like making dr phone calls or etc), I never have any leftover for extra ones, and it would be very odd to message someone I haven't spoken to in like 5 years out of the blue but then take 4 entire months to respond back lol.. My natural curiosity with nostalgia/collecting details of the past/etc. (literally if I were born a little earlier I would definitely do scrapbooking or something lol) is very strong, but, alas, not strong enough to beat out the Social Issues Demons apparently

Out of the five love languages, what do you think arthur and eames fav love language respectively?

It's a good question!! All of this is my own headcanons obvs, and I'd love to hear what you think as well!!!

I think for Eames, the language in which he receives love is physical touch. Because my interpretation of him is that he's not super touchy, but he does crave casual touch, hugs, etc, and he very much wishes he could be that person whom touch comes easy to - it says a lot about the relationship if Eames is comfortable enough to initiate touch back. He feels most loved when someone he loves hugs him, squeezes his shoulder as they pass, a pat on the back, holding his hand in a long car-ride. A neck-rub. None of it has to be sexual.

Perhaps the language in which he gives love is a bit of acts of service mixed in with gift giving. It's things he can do silently, when he doesn't have the words, which is often. Eames often talks around things that are real because he's avoid being super direct. Like he'll tidy up Arthur's Office of Chaos when he's run ragged and gift him, idk, a fancy pen because he knows Arthur lost his last one and he doesn't have to say anything and Arthur just knows - that's him showing love without saying it, directly.

For Arthur.... I think he receives love in acts of service. Don't waste Arthur's time telling him you're going to do this, or that. Just fucking do it. "I'm going to quit drinking." Okay Dad/Mom/Whoever, stop talking about it and put it into action. Except they didn't. "I've got this under control." Okay Dom, stop talking about it and fucking show me. Except he didn't. "I love you." That's nice, thank you, but how about you show me. Arthur knows that words are often worth nothing unless they're backed up with the doing part of it. Love is a verb - a doing word, an action-word. Do I mean anything to you if you don't act on/keep your word?

He absolutely has the giving love language of physical touch. A comforting hand on the wrist and squeeze of the shoulder. Hand on the small of your back. Casual touches to your arm, your knee, he doesn't even know he's doing it half the time.

(Maybe chuck in a bit of quality time, too, for the both of them.)

i sense how on the contrary, when moon is in Zeph’s local group the members will all go ‘omg youre actually letting us do this’ or be surprised of her leniency with almost anything(or if she gets upset she wont be yelling her ass off and will try to remain calm), because of how Zeph would usually be so strict with em and they didnt expect better

see- first you gotta understand that the chancla doesn't really Hurt the iterators. while they definitely can feel through their puppets, those things are made to be sturdy (throw a normal or singularity bomb into Pebs' chamber,he's fine, i know he just doesn't have health but worldbuilding is worldbuilding so i guess a fully functional iterator is fine with blackhole into the head). it maybe stings for a sec but it's not worse than gettin pinched (also where did you get that she yells at em, she's only exclaimed so far i think. if you check how she handled Innocence, that's how she generally goes about it- no yellin for the sake of puttin 'em in place, she's just venting out her frustrations into the air)

the Point of the chancla is to get the target's unwavering attention so she can talk some sense into them WITHOUT using the senior privilege which is far more invading since it cuts straight through their systems and forces the juniors to stop everything to pay attention. these things are giant supercomputers! they are going to have a different perspective on what counts as "too much"/"too bad" than us humans! it isn't used to limit what they are doing unless the thing they are gon do is explicitly threatening to their safety, the limiting is what the Senior Privilege does!

in that lil comic with Pebs, Suns, Nish, Inn and her, she doesn't actually even hit Nish in the last panel, the chancla is only supposed to suddenly appear from behind next to his face n he gets startled + drama queen points. i've admitted in the tags of it that i gave up on the last page so i don't blame anyone for not gettin that since i haven't put enough effort into communicating it

with what she's doin back in her own group, she Needs to be this strict if she wants her plan of keeping everyone reliably long-term safe to work

and her groupmates would undeniably miss her. they love her! they don't want some lenient stranger without constant spice to her instead of their ramshackle beloved Azzie!!!!

Not sure if this is a weird question but how old do you think that Nadir was in the Persia section of Kay's Phantom? Just started reading it and I know Erik was meant to be 19 when he first came to Persia and about 21/22 when he left. Nadir seemed very much like an older brother figure but still youthful enough to get along with Erik. Given Reza's age and given that when they later met again in Paris Erik seemed to imply that he (Nadir) wasn't yet 60, I estimated he was in his mid 20s at youngest, early 30s at oldest. What do you think?

not a weird question at all, i loooove talking about my most special man nadir. i always figured he was about 10ish years older than Erik, maybe a bit more (he has tired old man energy from the very beginning but i would guess he's around early 30s when his section of the kay novel begins). i can't remember off the top of my head if his age is ever specified at any point in the book, but given that he isnt completely geriatric in the final section of the novel, i think its safe to say hes around a decade or so older than erik, definitely very older brother energy
