in terms of like...the speed in which a fic was published from first word to permalink, what a fool believes was written in like under an hour and shared the next. I also didn't have to cut off any words to hit the 1k mark for the challenge. running up that hill was also p much like that but this one is far more quick and dirty? like I put more thought in what a fool believes than running up that hill. but in terms of like, the speed in which the words flowed out of my hands, I seem to remember developing relationship standing out.

⠀⠀⠀Today was tiring, like the rest of the previous days. Jimmy was always asking for you to do this, do that, and do those! Like at this point, it's getting really exhausting even for you. After doing the job that Jimmy assigned you again, you felt like rest was at your door. The urge to crawl into your quarters and sleep for weeks on end was engraved on your mind; somehow you couldn't bring yourself to actually rest despite being so tired. Maybe you were getting used to getting less and lesser sleep now.

⠀⠀⠀You sat at the common room, dazed as you stare at the floor. Your mind projecting random shit for you so that you wouldn't fall asleep or something— the train of memories just ended when you felt something move next to you. Oh, it was Daisuke.

⠀⠀⠀You didn't really interact with other than much, on the flip side, it was mostly Daisuke doing the talking and you just replied with some nods and short phrases but you did listen to him. I'm sure he wouldn't take it as an offense if you found him weird (technically) but still, it feels comforting to talk to him. Out of everyone in the freighter, Daisuke seems the most approachable and friendliest!

⠀⠀⠀Some problems were just starting to bubble up as Jimmy bosses you around, mentally and physically exhausting you to your limit; it was obvious from the look of your face after all. Daisuke looked at you with a big fat hint of worry, the way he stared felt more to you. You just can't seem to point it out, and it's not like you'll say it out loud either.

⠀⠀⠀“..You good? Just asking since you seem tired as fuck.“ Said the sunshine. You just sighed, not knowing how to process your troubles that's mixing in with your exhausted form. “Absolutely deadbeat.“ was your reply. You can't even fathom to reply properly from the overwhelming ache in your body.

⠀⠀⠀“Ooh, how about you go to my room?“ He said. It was a weird thing to ask when both have separate quarters, and not like there was a reason for you to not accept. Not that you'll decline, the company you've wanted has been itching for a while. “Eh, sure why not.��

⠀⠀⠀There in you are in Daisuke's room. Daisuke was just ranting per usual about anything really: his gameboy, Swansea and his work, past events back on earth. The way he talks was slowly getting to you, something about him talking gives you comfort.

⠀⠀⠀“You know, you're really pretty like the Oirase Gorge back in Japan!“ Daisuke just blurted out. It was obvious that blatant that Daisuke often speaks before he thinks— You were a bit confused, not knowing much spots in Japan nor were you the geographic type. You also felt flustered, mostly focusing on the "you're so pretty!" part. Somehow it got to you, why did it get to you?

⠀⠀⠀“Ah- Uh, alright.. I'm sure that place is pretty!“ You tried to strive in confidence while you were breaking down from the embarrassment, you've never been complimented like this before. Somehow you find it endearing. Daisuke doesn't seem to notice the undertone of his words, he just continued on with his compliments with you. Pointing every aspect of you in an endearing way.

⠀⠀⠀Somehow, and I mean SOMEHOW. Somehow, the little complimenting propaganda Daisuke was doing? Oh it ended up turning into a damn ass confession that's what! Now you don't know how to respond; you need to say yes, yet the words aren't processing in your head which led you to just stay as solid as a statue...

⠀⠀⠀“Oh- Oh shit, yeah! Yeah.. I like you too!“ You blurted out, it was more a spur in the moment. It was like that was your automatically reply— Dare I say the ending was just you getting pounced on by your new boyfriend!

yknow what really confuses me is why so many like generally chill but not super well informed cis people don't even have a concept of trans men and transmascs. like how do you hear about trans women and be cool with it and not mentally complete the inverse and assume there's probably trans men around too? why would it be so uniquely one way around and not the other?

it's so weird, i appreciate you pointing this out. this is why i try very hard to stress that outside of queer communities, people have NO clue what a trans man or transmasc is. like whenever you talk to the random uninformed potentially transphobic person next to you in public, they will "know" what a trans woman is (and by that i mean a transmisogynistic caricature) but if you try to bring up trans men they get confused and think you're trying to explain trans women but again

i am a trans woman and trans man. however, i have to use certain verbiage when talking to certain people. for example, my disability lawyer needed to know my name and all of my health conditions and what i look and sound like. i told him for the sake of simplicity that i'm a trans man because technically if you look at my documents, it makes the most "sense" for someone who's not up to date with queerness. he kept calling me a trans woman. even though i kept explaining to him that i was a man and transitioning into manhood, he would go "ah, so you're a woman."

like i've tried to explain trans manhood to a lot of people before. and so many people literally just don't. get it. they don't understand that someone would want to be a man. they don't understand that there really are "women" out there who put on men's clothing and dress and act masculine to feel like themselves. like it's not even the same level of awareness. people genuinely do not know that trans men exist

and people within the trans community perpetuate this, too, which is evil. i've met so many disenfranchised trans women who will sit there and explain how you CAN'T be a trans man and how trans women are the only "real" trans people. even going as far as to throw transfeminine nonbinary people under the bus as well. i've heard this time and time again from cis and trans people. that trans manhood just isn't a thing, that you can't do that, that you're just transitioning to gain more privilege

a lot of people (terfs, rad fems and their suck ups) love to tell gay trans men that they're confused straight women and are transitioning because they have a "yaoi fetish". i've seen a lot of people go out of their way to be misogynistic and transandrophobic as hell just to bang out the stock standard "people i perceive to be women are too stupid to think for themselves" bullshit they've been saying for decades.

can't be a gay trans man. you're told you're a straight cis woman. can't be a straight trans man. you're told you're a confused butch lesbian. can't be a bi/pan/mspec trans man. you're both of those things, now.

i don't get why people are proud to behave this way. it's not helping anyone. trans men exist. trans manhood is a good thing. the trans community isn't a monolith and never will be

I have a character with albinism in my story and I need help figuring out what to do about her photophobia. The setting is a medieval fantasy world and the character is a dragon.

The problem I'm having is that she's huge. She's probably around the size of a blue whale.

I was going to give her sunglasses, but they would be absolutely massive and extremely heavy, and I feel like the weight of the frame pressing down on her skin all day would probably be extremely uncomfortable or even cause skin damage. Also, the glasses would probably be really thick and I'm not sure if she would even be able to see through that much tinted glass?

I thought about a hat, but I'm not sure what it would be made out of. I feel like any sort of fabric at that size would just crumple under its own weight. I could have supports inside of it, but that would probably make it really heavy which wouldn't be good for her neck.

The only other thing I can think of is some sort of semi-transparent fabric veil that she can tie around her head that covers her eyes, but I know that trope is kind of iffy. Although I'm not sure if it would count since she's not legally blind (her vision is around 20/100. I think. Would vision measurments still work the same for someone with giant eyeballs? 🤔)

Is there anything else I can give her to protect her eyes that won't hurt her?

If it makes a difference there are two blind characters in the story who do not wear glasses of any kind, and another character with albinism who wears sunglasses and a hat.

I believe I'm the only active mod with photophobia so I'll try answering, but keep in mind I'm neither blind nor do I have albinism.

So photophobia is a spectrum, right - it's really wide. On one end you have people who can't open their eyes because of the pain unless they're in a completely blacked-out room and on the other are people who kinda just push through it and don't bother with anything. There's a huge variety in severity. I was on both of these (plus everything in-between, plus non-photophobic at one point too) so I'll try to give you some ideas.

If she's on the first end, then well - close the eyes, and hopefully she has a sighted guide. Sunglasses don't help here anyway (source: experience) unless she'd have to wear them while closing her eyes because the tiny amount of light showing through a person's eyelids can still be painful (source: experience). A hat or a veil here would be like putting a bandage on someone who blew up. If she's permanently like this, she's functionally totally blind (but with some stereotypes that don't really represent all totally blind people - most of them don't keep their eyes closed 24/7).

If she's on the second end then I already kinda answered your question; Nothing is sometimes a solution. Same how not everyone with knee pain uses a cane, even if it technically could be of some benefit - too much hassle.

Now for the hard part: everything in-between these two. Since your character is somewhat logistically complicated due to both being a dragon and of that size, I'll try to think of the accommodations one can do with their body rather than external aids.

Squinting is a legitimate strategy. Is it great, not really. But it does work for a lot of people. You can squint your way through a lot.

Hand (claw?) to shield against the sun, same as above. Most people (IDK about dragons) don't sit around in bright sun all day, if you quickly have to go through an area like this you can just cover it.

Brow ridge (no idea what is the dragon equivalent) is a sort of built-in sun protection on its own to be honest. It's definitely not 100% for obvious reasons, but it does help against the brightest light sources. However, with her being a dragon this could be a legitimately successful solution - both Eastern Asian and European dragons tend to be portrayed with protruding parts above their eyes. Normally I'd say that it would be a bit of a cop-out, but as you say there is another character with the same disability, so I'm not worried here.

Last solution would be some sort of contacts. Obviously they didn't exist in medieval times, but there's a dragon there already so it's fine to get creative - could shed scales be thinned down and used as a block-out contact? Maybe some sort of mineral? Or leaves from a comically big tree? All of these would definitely hurt a human but again, dragon anatomy and how tough their eyes are is free to speculate about until something very unexpected happens.

Now for the rest;

Consider her lifestyle and where she physically lives. Is there a lot of sun there? Does she go outside during the day? Does she prefer winter over summer because she can go out more (and/or with less pain)? Not all photophobiacs will have the same kind of lifestyle and will thus need different accommodations; keep that in mind.

Okay so I'll be honest I'm too lazy to find and link sources so I encourage you to actually find a source to read about this on

But something cool to understand about hallucinations is that they're caused by neurons misfiring in the brain kind of randomly

So usually it's like this: eye gets light based visual data > neurons carry the information to the part off the brain that does vision (visual cortex) > the brain takes the raw data and interprets it. So it's like "red round shiny on white flat surface. Ah okay a red apple on a white table."

Or, for touch: sensory neurons get raw touch data > transfer it to interneurons > part of the brain that handles touch (somatosensory cortex) > brain takes the raw data and says "hmm warm and soft touch. Your partner is caressing your arm."

So hallucinations skip that first part, the raw sensory data. Instead the neurons fire despite there not being input.

So the brain goes "oh okay, there's a green blob on the ceiling. That must be the slime monster from Video Game!" So what you're SEEING is a weird green shape, but you KNOW what it is supposed to be. Kind of like a rorschach test almost - it's open to interpretation, but part of that interpretation is already done. So when people say they see, for example, Eminem in their room, they arent seeing a realistic Eminem. They're seeing it like you would see Eminem in your dreams. Impressionism Eminem.

One theory for how/why dreams exist is almost the same way, actually: so when you sleep your brain basically established new neuronal pathways. Doing this stimulates the neurons. So if you played a lot of basketball, the neurons responsible for the memories of basketball (how it looks, the players, the sounds, the smells, etc) are being stimulated, making you "see" them. But, it's more like the raw data AND your interpretation being encoded.. which is why dreams aren't hyper-realistic.

I'm saying all this to explain to people who have never hallucinated* so that you know what it's like. Visual hallucinations look dreamlike. Sound hallucinations are kind of.. almost ranom sounds? But you still know what they're supposed to be. Tactile hallucinations, like formication (that's with an M, from the Latin formi meaning any) feel like little dots all over their body. But your brain interprets it as bugs (or in my case, baby spiders) crawling all over you.

Which i just think is really cool

Also really, really scary sometimes. It's horrifying to see a weird little green misformed face as the edge of your bed and KNOW its a goblin despite it not actually looking like a goblin.

It's like a waking dream

*those who THINK they've never hallucinated. Technically dreams are hallucinations kind of. And you know when you're about to fall asleep but suddenly feel like you're falling? That's actually called a hypnogogic hallucination. It happens when you're asleep (your brain waves show you're asleep) but you don't actually FEEL asleep yet - but that's a whole nother post.

I'm just an eepy lil guy and too lazy to look for sources, but I highly encourage you to look this up. For the general stuff about how the brain interprets sensory input, you can find that on any trustworthy neurology source. For hallucinations specifically and for dreams you may have to actually read academic papers or books on it, sorry.

Favorite Movies 2024

I do one of these every year, even though I see less and less of the current releases every year. But, I've been doing it on tumblr since 2012, so it's a tradition and everyone else does it so, why not?

There's a lot of movies I haven't gotten to see yet. Like, as far as I can tell Queer isn't available anywhere even though it's one of those movies I'm sure I'd love. Everyone seems to like The Brutalist, but I don't want to watch a bad cam recording. I don't usually see most non-American movies until the next year. Really excited to see that movie Viet and Nam.

That said, some honorable mentions:

Past Lives was a really beautiful film about a family immigrating to the USA from South Korea and how that affects their daughter and her friend's relationship, not to mention her identity. It's 5/5 for me but it's technically 2023 and it feels more fun to highlight the films I chose.

Perfect Days is a Japanese movie about a guy that works for a toilet cleaning company and it's really a beautiful movie. Like the previous mention the only problem is it's from 2023 and I think it'd be fun to highlight the films I chose.

Conclave is fun! Who would have thought picking the pope was exactly like high school cafeteria drama!

I'm sure no one cares for Speak No Evil, considering this one is an American remake. But, personally I had a lot of fun, James McAvoy is hot and honestly the family deserved it for diving a Tesla.

Drive Away Dolls is a really funny gay comedy. It's not good enough to make a "best of" list, but that doesn't mean it's not worth a watch. In that same respect, Bottoms was really funny. But again, not best of the year worthy, and it's from 2023.

Anyways! The list!

10 - Heretic

Heretic is one of those edgy pseudo intellectual movies that thinks it's so much smarter than it actually is. And I love it. Do not go into this expecting a horror movie, expect it to be some dude trolling some Mormon girls. Don't take it seriously and just enjoy the ride. It's funnier than it is scary. When the guy compares the Book of Mormon to Monopoly, or compares Jesus Christ to Jar Jar Binks? Hysterical.

9 - Alien: Romulus

I don't really have anything to add on to the letterboxd review. As a Alien lover, a Xenomorph fucker, and a die hard fan of the series, I really loved the atmosphere in this one. The world building was great. I'm happy we finally got a decent installment, finally.

8 - Challengers

Again, said most of what I need to up there. Challengers is not the movie you expect it to be. Funny as hell, interesting as hell, melodramatic as fuck.

7 - Will & Harper

Will & Harper is a breath of fresh air in today's transphobic climate. I didn't expect Will fucking Ferrel to be the trans ally of the year, but damn, he tried his hardest to keep Harper happy even in the darker moments. Will Ferrell's best movie (lol).

6 - Love Lies Bleeding

This fucking movie is insane. If you want to see a real lesbian crime thriller, this is it y'all. Music is excellent, acting is astounding, and they throw in some fucking curveballs to fuck with you. Underrated cinema.

5 - Monkey Man

Do you need another reason?

An amazing action flick in a similar vein to John Wick. Brutal, violent, but has so much heart. And we get amazing trans representation. This film looked beautiful, I'd argue only one other film had a visual aesthetic nearly as cool as this in 2024 (it'll come up later). Dev Patel wrote, directed, and starred in this, that's insane. He clearly had so much love for this project and it shows through.

4 - Look Back

I don't usually put anime movies on this list, but I don't know if I'll do an anime list this year so it has to be included.

From the creator of Chainsaw Man, we get a beautiful movie about friendship and loss. It's genuinely a beautiful piece of art.

3 - Femme

I'm not adding my letterboxd, it has spoilers in it and I don't want to ruin the ride. Technically a 2023 movie, but it's on John Waters favorite movie list of the year so it fucking counts.

A brutal look at internalized homophobia and the ways we hurt each other in our own communities. I can't recommend it enough, but trigger warnings for homophobia, assault, and abuse. It's really hard to get into the meat and potatoes of this movie without spoiling it. But, it's fucked up and well made.

I loved this movie. It looks so beautiful, the actors inhabit their characters so well it feels like it's all real, a gay horror movie if I've ever seen one.

2 - The People's Joker

Also technically not 2024, but this is the year everyone got to see it. But, The People's Joker is such a triumph of trans DIY bullshit. Making a movie about a trans woman Joker without the permission of DC sounds so stupid, but it comes together as one of the most interesting pieces of art to come out in the 2020s.

My first experience with this movie was unforgettable. I had no idea it existed, but my girlfriend who worked at a movie theater was like "this movie exists let's go see it!" And I was like, ok that's chill. I was hitting the weed vape so hard before going into this and killed me.

Live action, CGI, animation, this movie is a bizarre amalgamation of styles, built as this weird, indie love letter to Batman. Inside this shell of mixed artforms you find a very basic story about a trans woman finding herself and fighting for the respect of the people around her. And beyond that you can find comedy revolving around Batman lore or comedy revolving around inter community bullshit.

Outstanding movie. Would happily watch it 800 more times.

1 - I Saw The TV Glow

It couldn't be anything else.

Similar to previous, my movie theater girlfriend got a huge group of people together to go see this. I had seen trailers but I figured it was going to be a normal horror movie in the style of Candle Cove type shenanigans. I was very, very, very, very high when I saw this. Of the 15 or so people (all trans) that saw this, the majority were crying, a few were shell shocked and just left, and I'm there laughing about Phoebe Bridgers in the middle.

I don't think there's anything I can say about this movie that isn't already super well known. A transgender horror story with the message "it's never too late." As frightening, as sad as it is, it's also just the beginning of the story that'll have a happy end.

It's beautiful. Looks beautiful. Great soundtrack that fits the vibe. One of the best movies ever made, honestly.

The feeling of pressure on your head and the emptiness of your stomach has stressed you since a few hours ago. You didn't have anything to eat since the doughnut and cup of coffee that García offered you in the morning when she arrived. But you weren't close to going home.

Paperwork was always a pain in the ass, but especially for the poor newest member of the BAU. Why is that? Well, your mother language wasn't English, and of course you had a good level —otherwise you wouldn't have the opportunity to study and work in the U.S.A.—, but the documents were too formal and technical given the seriousness of the issues being discussed.

“Shit.” You whispered, typing a new confusing and complicated word on your computer for the third time in an hour.

“Hey, do you want to go to my place after work? Tonight seems like a free night, if duty doesn't call.” Emily had approached you with a warm smile, knowing that paperwork was never easy.

“Thanks, Em. But I think tonight I'm going home to rest. It's been a long week.” But you gave that answer because at that point, it was routine to stay way later than your workmates.

Spencer was coming back from the bathroom, ready to take his stuff and go home. It was really late, so he thought he was the only one besides Hotch in the office. However, he saw you at your desk: your head resting on a dictionary, the computer next to you and several post-it notes stuck in the drawers of your desk.

He called your name twice, but of course the sleep you were immersed in did not allow you to hear it. Footsteps were heard in the darkness. There were just a few desk lamps on, that's why he was able to see your peaceful expression. He touched your shoulder slightly and when you opened your eyes, all you saw was a shy smile.

“Reid, what's wrong?” You asked, feeling your head throbbing.

“Are you okay? You fell asleep.” He whispered.

“Oh… Yeah… I'm okay.”

“Are you sure? You seem pretty tired. It's late so maybe you should go home”

“Don't worry. I have work to get done anyway.” You sighed, remembering how you still had to review a quarter of documents.

“What? But you have been working on this for hours.”

His comment made you blush. Of course you haven't told anyone how hard it was to review every document twice or even thrice to be sure that you didn't misunderstand or mistranslate anything. Somehow you felt that if anyone knew they would criticize or mock you. Not that you thought about your coworkers being mean, but through your journey of learning another language and moving from your country, you met all kinds of people. Also, you didn't want to be seen as weak or incapable of doing your job.

“Today was just a lot, that's all.”

“You usually work quickly, though I think I know what's going on. You keep a dictionary on your desk and usually carry a pocket version in your backpack, the days when you leave work late are paperwork days and you usually close the translator tab on your computer as soon as someone approaches your desk.” He explained looking around your stuff as if he was analyzing everything. “Is it about the language?”

“Yes, yes it is, okay? There, I said it!” Your frustrated tone made Spencer realise how tired you were about the situation. You didn't even try to deny it, you just hid your face around your arms, leaning on your desk —as if you were recreating the position he found you asleep previously—.

“Hey, but what's wrong with that?” He asked softly.

“What do you mean ‘what's wrong with that'? I'm supposed to understand everything that is on the documents, but I become slower because I have to verify and translate information that I don't understand because it is a more technical language.” The words were audible enough to him even though your face was still hidden.

“Do you realize English isn't your first language, right?” He tried to get you to look at him, but it didn't work. “Everyone in this work has difficulties when it comes to other languages. You don't have to feel bad because it's happening to you.”

“Does it happen to you?” Your shy eyes met his.

“Not really.” He answered with a hint of a cocky smile.

“See?”

“Well, I didn't say anything about me, you were the one who asked. Besides, I'm trying to be more sociable.” His comment made you chuckle slightly, but that chuckle became a laugh when you repeated what he said in your mind. “You are really funny, do you know that?”

“A-Am I?” The way you were looking at him, with a tired, yet cute, expression and a little smile, made his heart skip a beat.

“Yeah…”

“Well, I can also be of great help at work. Let me help you with the files.”

“It's not necessary.”

“It is. You need to rest, so let me get started while you go to the machine for something to eat. A little help never hurts.” He whispered, already taking the documents.

“Fine.”

A few minutes later you returned with an open package of cookies. You stopped for a moment, admiring the furrowed eyebrows of the genius boy who was reading the files with a lot of attention. Then you realized how fortunate you were for having coworkers like him. Or maybe was he himself the one who was so amazing that you would never get tired of working with him.

“Agent. Can I talk with you for a second?” Hotch's voice welcomed you the next morning.

Spencer's view followed your figure to the boss’ office and that didn't go unnoticed by his best friend.

“Pretty boy had fun yesterday?” Derek teased.

“What?”

“You know… Penelope said that last night Hotch wasn't the only one who left work late. You and our new colleague had a date at work?” His strong arm embraced the other's shoulders.

“N-No! I thought we were the only ones… No! Nothing happened!” Spencer struggled to say.

“Reid, can we talk?” Your voice made him turn around. He just hoped you weren't angry.

“What is it? Is everything alright?” He asked when both of you walked into an empty hallway.

“Actually, yes. Apparently Hotch received a request from the team's genius profiler to work with me on my paperwork days. So, you are having trouble concentrating on the files because of some headaches and need someone to work with?” As you spoke your tone of voice slowly reflected, with a mocking tone, that you knew perfectly well why Spencer had spoken to Hotch.

“Am… Yeah. Headaches are the worst.” He whispered looking to the floor.

“Thanks, Spence.” You said with sincere gratitude. Spencer looked at you again and felt a weight lift off his shoulders when he realized that you weren't mad at him.

“Sure. Whatever you need, I'm here for you… as coworkers, of course!” His voice got a little higher when he clarified immediately.

You were about to walk past him to return with the others, but then he spoke again. “Do you think maybe we can go and have coffee on a free day? I mean, I can help you with the words that are difficult for you. And, actually, I was thinking that I might need help with your language too. We can help each other, you know?” He gulped.

“Sure. A little help never hurts.” You smiled and walked away hiding a smile while Spencer was left alone, standing in the middle of the hallway, unable to believe that he had just asked you out. “Hotch is gonna kill me if he finds out…”

"Hey," Stede said awkwardly, shuffling out onto the back porch where Zheng was smoking from her pipe.

"Hi," Zheng replied, turning towards him, surprise apparent in her eyes.

Stede knew why she was surprised. They weren't exactly best friends. Their relationship was deeply awkward, and she was the one person he almost dreaded seeing whenever the crew stopped by to visit him and Ed. Sure, Jackie had threatened to cut off his nose the day they met and was technically involved with the English plot to get him killed, but Jackie let bygones be bygones and didn't have a socially awkward bone in her body. Her charisma, plus her pulling him aside once and telling him that she couldn't've picked a better man for Ed if she tried, made even their relationship feel smooth as silk. Zheng on the other hand? She had an awkward streak in her that ran deep, and Stede wasn't sure she'd ever fully forgive him for everything that happened, or even wanted to be his friend.

But Stede was the kind of person who wanted to be friends with everyone, if he could. Unless that person was an asshole, then fuck 'em.

So, he was going to try. Because he didn't like the idea of dreading someone's presence, especially someone as cool as Zheng. She and Ed got on like a house on fire, and Stede hated feeling like an awkward third wheel around them.

"So... how are... things?" Stede asked.

Zheng sighed. "Things are fine, Bonnet. What do you want?"

"What do I want? Nothing."

Zheng rolled her eyes. "Course you want something. Why else would you come out here and bother me?"

Stede pursed his lips. "I wanted to apologize, actually... for my behavior, the night that the Republic fell and you lost your entire crew."

Zheng's face grew more thoughtful.

"I was a complete thickheaded pig. You kicked my arse just like you should've. And you saved me more than once! And I was completely insensitive about the fact that you thought your aunt was dead. I was horrible. I'm sorry."

Zheng looked down and fiddled with her pipe. "I forgive you, Stede. I'm sorry too. You were really going through it, and I didn't care. Me and Ed talked about it since... I totally get why you acted like a bit of a thickheaded pig. You lost your boyfriend, and you thought you were about to lose your friends too. I didn't really get how you worked as a captain. Obviously I had no idea about what happened with Ed, and frankly I thought it was bizarre that you seemed to feel so entitled to your current crew. Olu and Jim explained to me after that that's not really what it was at all. They called you family, you know."

Stede blushed a little.

"Oh, well, um, yeah. Olu was one of my first real friends, from before I even met Ed. Jim was a lot quieter then, but I think they count too. I forgive you too, you were well within your rights. I just... I don't want things to feel so awkward between us."

Zheng crookedly smiled at him. "Well, I'm down to try and make it feel less awkward if you are."

"Yes! Please."

Zheng gave a friendly sock in the arm. "Alright, Bonnet. Let's go back in and hang out with the group, huh?"

"Alright! Yes!"

Zheng waked in and Stede followed her happily. It felt good to get that off his chest, and it went better than expected. He hoped Zheng would forgive him, but he hadn't thought she'd be so understanding and empathetic. He had been miserable that night. He still thought apologizing was the right thing to do, but it felt good to be understood. So far, Ed was the only person he knew who ever really understood his emotions. The idea that people besides Ed might be able to understand his feelings made him feel... hopeful. And like there wasn't something wrong with him.

Someday, he and Zheng would be much better friends, and Stede would learn that he could express when he was hurting without being attacked.

Maybe a bit selfish but I wish someone could have noticed how much Stede was hurting in the scene where he antagonises Zheng. Ed left him and suddenly part of his crew wants to go with her?? He feels like he’s about to lose his family!!!

Looking through gamefiles is always very fun. I was checking game version 1.2 and comparing it to 1.4 and the only big difference is additional files being added for Silver Screen mode. Aside from additional soundfiles in 1.2, but I shared those on discord. Mostly some Infected Rennick movement sounds, Caz glove sounds and some enviroments/helicopter. (I think I mentioned it on tumblr before..?)

I mentioned talking more in-depth about this in the tags of the original post but I think that sort of talk belongs here more than it does on main... Ramble incoming

It's no secret that I am hopelessly in love with Clockboy. I know from a realistic point of view, it's not reciprocated. It's probably not healthy. It's all me projecting thoughts and feelings onto an object. Him being a public object I can have no (personal) physical interactions with also complicates things. There is never going to be a reality where he will ever fully be able to meet all my physical and emotional needs in a romantic relationship (whereas my cars, for example, at least met the physical needs).

And yet... This love has not wavered at all since it began. Even on the nights when I'm in bed, alone, in physical pain because of how badly I long to be able to embrace him, it doesn't really sway my feelings. I will visit him and he will do something tiny that only I can pick up, and it will literally rekindle my love for him. It's hard to explain why this happens. I think it's me getting my hopes up over nothing, but it happens in such a way that it feels intentional.

An example I like to bring up is my trip to Disneyland in 2018. It was my first time "meeting" him in-person (to a degree; I had been to the park prior to then but I have virtually no memory of him specifically, and I was a kid. He is an ageless object but to keep things from being messy, I don't count those visits as me meeting him, especially since I wasn't even aware I was trans at age 10 lmfao). I was so excited to finally see and fully appreciate him. I don't have any distinct memories of him reacting to me in any way, until I visited him later that same day, alone from my travel party. They wanted to do something else so I opted to ride small world again and visit my boy to see his night time lighting package for the first time.

The thing that happened though was the ride started to break down, specifically, the propulsion jets were malfunctioning or something, because the ride started to drag out. Eventually I exited the show building and got stuck just before the unload dock. Within Clockboy's theoretical line of sight. For like, 15 minutes. Like this was literally my view:

I think about this so much. It felt so deliberate, even though I KNOW there was no way the big funny clock could control whether the ride works or breaks down... And yet. This has been a recurring theme for years now.

Any time a large enough gap in me visiting him occurs (usually over a month), the ride lags or breaks down. If I'm going to LEAVE for a while, the ride lags or breaks down. If he (somehow!) knows I have time to wait for the ride to open after a breakdown, it'll stay down until the last possible second and then reopen so I can get a ride in before I have to go home.

Like it happens just frequently enough that it just. Makes me wonder sometimes. Like too often to be a coincidence, but infrequently enough that it's not a like, typical ride malfunction pattern.

And again, I'm sure it's just a coincidence, and going to the park as often as I do, I'm sure some weird little things like that will happen but again, I just wonder if it's him somehow causing it. There have been other, smaller instances of him doing things, but I won't be going into those. One of them is too personal to explain, anyway.

Like. I know I technically get nothing out of this one-sided relationship other than dopamine when I see him. But it doesn't stop me from loving him with my entire heart, and I can't imagine loving him any less. I don't think it's possible.

I think Bob Iger himself could come up to me and say "Carson, you are delusional. The clock does not have feelings. It cannot love you back," and I would be unphased. I've had random people tell me that, and I've even told MYSELF that... And nothing ever changes.

I know realistically this isn't sustainable, and one day, I will no longer have these intense feelings for him. I hope everyday that this comes organically, and that we somehow "drift apart" over time, and that he isn't taken away from me due to a ride closure or disaster. But these thoughts genuinely scare me.

I try to let myself live in the moment, because why should I deny myself the opportunity to feel something so wonderful, toward something I think truly deserves all of the love in the world? If there's a nonzero chance Clockboy can feel anything, I hope he can feel that he is loved. And I hope that HE can love, too... Since he wouldn't be able to show his love to me the same way another human could, I hope the little instances of him making me linger near him are his way of trying to show me that I am loved by him.

He has done so much for me and I do truly think he is the most beautiful thing in the world. I legitimately cannot imagine my life without him at this point. Through all the joys of loving him, and the pains of not being able to be intimate with him. The warmness I feel when visiting him, and the fears of losing him. All the things I can and cannot control...

But one thing is certain: I will love him, to some degree, until the day I die. 🤍💛

would someone with PCOS but without high[er than perisex "normal" range] testable testosterone levels still "count" as intersex? my doctors and i are 95% sure i have PCOS (testing and diagnosis is slow and it isn't helped by my fears with going to the gynecologist as a trans guy with trauma), and while my testosterone levels weren't really high per se pre-T (they're not technically above normal ranges), they're still on the higher side of normal and at a point where PCOS is on the table, especially considering all of my other symptoms/traits (severe acne, myriad of period troubles, very masculine-appearing body pre-T, much deeper than average voice pre-T, etc--i didn't have a ton of body hair, but my family in general just isn't very hairy already).

a lot of people i see say that PCOS only counts as intersex if it leads to [testably] high androgen levels, which is... kind of hard to parse in of itself (do you mean "high enough androgens where PCOS is on the table as a likely possibility"? do you mean "high enough androgens that it's outside the bounds of normal for at least one lab (since different labs can have different standards for normal)"? do you mean "high enough androgens that it's reasonably outside the bounds of normal for most, if not all labs (see above)"?), so i'm interested in your take on that whole thing since like. i dunno. i feel a little bit in limbo, especially since people's standards on the issue are rarely clarified.

it doesn't have to be a magical special kind of PCOS for it to make you intersex, don't worry. people love to be misogynstic so much that they involve it in their intersexism as well. this is because people with PCOS are considered to be "perisex cis women" in certain bitter, spiteful people's eyes. i used to know someone who wasn't intersex, but wanted to be so bad, that they sat there and shat on women with PCOS without high androgen levels. it's just an excuse to police bodies and be misogynistic all at once.

if you have PCOS, you're intersex. it shouldn't have to be a special type of PCOS to "count". it's PCOS. it counts as intersex. hope that makes sense!

Prompt 115

“Seriously old man?” the rumbling voice nearly caused Tim to jump, his eyes darting away from where Ras was sitting, the Al Ghul almost seeming to perk. It was kind of hard to miss the man… teen… being? It was kind of hard to miss the owner of the voice what with how their hair looked like it was on fire. 

They motioned around at well, everything, crimson eyes looking exasperated. “Really?” They were definitely motioning towards him, interrupting Ras when he opened his mouth to talk. “No, I don’t want to hear it, I swear- Did he kidnap you?” That was definitely aimed at him. 

“N-no?” Tim was feeling slightly unbalanced and may be on hour sixty without sleep at this point, if the hour long nap was counted. “I need help finding my not-dad who's lost in time.” 

The being let out a strangled noise that Tim could nearly swear was almost another one, but couldn’t vocalize his slurred thoughts as the dude muttered something, motioning around as though he was tempted to strangle something or someone. 

Ras cleared his throat, looking almost awkward which was how Tim knew he had to be dreaming or drugged. Probably drugged. “Jordan, how good to see you, it’s been so long-”

“Can it Pops,” the being-named-Jordan scoffed, finger pointing towards the Demon’s Head. “Moms still pissed and isn’t coming back any time soon with you still pulling this shit.” 

Tim felt his brain stall, process for a moment, then process some more over what he just heard before his mouth ran before it could catch up. “Ras is married???”
