#I highly recommend the first season

OK, so I'm still going to keep watching Carnival Row, but uh. I can see why reviewers panned the second season. It's not BAD, it's just... way too much story for this much show? The first season was fairly tight fitting and self-contained; this season went way more into politics (not just city politics, global politics) and I think they got away with themselves a bit with all of the really overt political parallels they were making.

So! In summary:

The Burge -> England (Political Elite have RP; lower class humans have thicker but still fairly identifiably "English" accents)

Tirnanoc -> Ireland (Pix seem to have mainly Irish accents, although admittedly I'm not great at accents)

Puyon -> Scotland (Fauns seem to have more Scottish accents and wording than Pix, on average)

The Pact -> Germany (German accents, WAR BALLOONS DROPPING BOMBS)

The New Dawn -> Soviet Russia/Communist Revolution (this is the most fucking obvious of all of the above and the rest were pretty obvious to start with, they've got Russian accents, call each other comrade, have a little green book manifesto, it's uh. not subtle)

The resistance has fallen. you know the show is going to be good when it starts off with whump… i introduce you to my new blorbo peter, an FBI agent who gets wrapped up in some conspiracy plot and is protecting/rescuing a civilian. he gets injured in an explosion + run over by a car in the first 10mins of ep 1, has physical and emotional-traumatic scars, gets shot at + beaten up + punched MULTIPLE TIMES throughout the series, major delicious whump with aftercare in ep 6. plus a cute slow burn. it’s an old style spy thriller and it’s (whumpy) goooood.

After getting kicked out of the dorm, Keiichi and Belldandy move to an old shrine and soon afterwards, Belldandy's sisters Urd and Skuld move in.

In what is essentially a Seiyū (or voice actor) parody take on "Super Sentai" / Power Ranger style shows, five heroes clad in red, gray, moss green, sepia and salmon pink must defend the world from – GASP – invading aliens.

Gou has woved to find the legendary treasure of Salamander. Searching for it he meets Ren, a fairy, who is looking for the four treasures of Heart. Gou's childhood friend Mari is frustrated with Gou running after treasures, but befriends with another fairy Rin. Gou and Ren's treasure hunt messes with a secret project led by Mari's father. It turns out Salamander isn't what Gou thought it was in the first place...

During early Season 1, GenerikB called the shots on who was added, and to the rest of the Hermits, new people would just pop onto the server with no consultation with the others

There was no structure of organization other than the fact that GB was in charge because it was his server, and everyone was fine with this

Eventually, GB left to focus on Mindcrack, and the server kinda ran on its own for a while, with people doing whatever they wanted on the server and making videos without any larger plans for the future

Eventually, there had been so many updates to Minecraft that some people wanted to start over with a new world with new people, since there had already been some hermits that had gone inactive

It was very difficult for the group to make decisions because there was no final word on any topics, even though there was a general consensus on a seed and potential new people to join.

THE DAY BEFORE they had agreed to record the first day of the server, they were STILL humming and hawing over the seed and new hermits

so Joe says "howdy y'all, here's what I'm going to do: I'm staging a coup, I'm going to decide that we will go with this seed that people generally agreed with, and we're going to add these two people that people generally agreed with. If ANYONE wants to disagree and do something different, feel free to step up! I will gladly give them the decision making power!"

Joe says "someone get in contact with Mumbo, I'll take care of Cleo, we get them sorted out, get the seed set up, we're recording tomorrow"

still crickets, but now with nodding

They recorded Season 2 the next day, with two VERY confused and new Hermits named Mumbo and Cleo, who found out potentially earlier that day they were joining the server

And the rest, as they say, is Hermit History.
