I keep thinking about your comic for the fantasy au with Gertrude’s death and Jon’s “promotion” and it has me really curious about the nature of court mages? Like how free are they as people, are they a little like mages in Dragon Age or does Jon have a sort of special case of “not a good time” ? Would he prefer not to be a court mage? Is he scared of Elias cause the murder?? Does anyone else know about this situation or is it just assumed Jon is a perfectly normal mage with no problems?

They are definitely not free! (I don't know how does it work in Dragon Age, sorry :'D ) They are owned by the King or Queen of the kingdom they are born into. The royals provide them with education so they can control their magic and don't accidentally become monsters. If they are powerful enough, they can be court mages and get gifted honorary titles like Lord and Lady, but no land or servants. If a witch is not that powerful, they can become village witch, but they are still belong to their kings, and have to follow all their orders (kinda Howl's moving castle style)

Jon case is special in a way that he became a witch from a really young age, when he was 8. I kinda follow 'the first mark of a Fear of canon = first sign of magical abilities in this AU' logic. So for example, Mike Crew was also a witch from childhood, but Lady Jane Prentiss only started dubbeling with magic when she was an adult.

Jon doesn't want to be a court mage, but at the same time, he wants to be a witch powerful enough to stand up against Elias one day. Nobody knows this, just that he is refused the title of being a Lord. He also knows that Elias can see his every move, and he is afraid to tell anyone about what happened, fearing Elias would would take revenge on them.

Ohoho-- do I? Yes, yes I do. First of all, glad you liked it! ( if anyone interested the fic is @cirrus-grey 's Not quite a tale as old as time ) If you like fairy-tale re-tellings, I suggest Beastly Behaviour by Prim_the_Amazing -also based on Beauty and a Beast.

Other, generally fantasy fic, I finished not to long ago and loved was @callmearcturus 's fic dustsceawung (with moth fae Jon)

If you also like vampire AUs, I highly recommend Strange Manner by @crit20art (vampire Jon) @milkteamoon 's Tounge to Teeth (victorian vampire Jon) and enthralling by Prim_the_Amazing (vampire Martin)

Scrounging around on ao3 and I somehow managed to dig up your old wizard x knight bodyguard martin stuff, and I didn't even realise until I saw the damn watermark hahaha.... I really really loveee the designs you chose !!! They're so cute!?!? And martin being Lukas' squire?! and Prentiss being some freaky lady in a big red dress that can turn into an even BIGGER worm lady!?!?! Dude. the art collection was AWESOME and I fucking looooved it !!!!! Now this is an ask so i need to ask something hmmm, have you written a narrative for it before, or is there anything like a plot attached to it? Absolutely stunning work !!!!!

Eeeeeey! Hi Cabinette! So glad you liked it ^^ (It's not that old... ah, I did started it in 2023 but I added to it this year as well :'D ) As for the story: If I could write it would start with Lord Bouchard hiring Martin as Jon's bodyguard to protect him as he is sended to investigate suspicious magical activities. (Jon has a history of getting kidnapped) They go around and find the crature previously know as Lady Prentiss, and meet other witches, lords and ladies. It's not a serious story, it doesn't have a solid end goal like GiSA, I just make it up as I go. I have 2-3 comic strip ideas with some magic and a witch coven summit but I'm not sure when will I have the stenght to actually draw those :'D Now, this is an ask, so I have to give you some art, so here is an obligatory 'Sir Blackwood and Sir Stoker after some training' sketch
