every book iâve read in 2022
Fiction
House of Hollow - Krystal Sutherland - 3 sisters disappeared when they were children and reappeared a month later ~changed~
âď¸âď¸ - I think the idea of it was really good but not executed as well as it could of been
ââââââ
This Time Next Year - Sophie Cousens - Quinn and Minnie are born on New Year's Eve, in the same hospital, one minute apart. Their lives may begin together, but their worlds could not be more different. Thirty years later they find themselves together again.
âď¸âď¸- The main character is literally called Minnie Cooper. Nothing about this book stood out to me
ââââââ
Great Circle - Maggie Shipstead - 2 parallel narratives, one about the disappeared 20th century aviator, Marian Graves, and the other about a 21st century actress who is starring in a film about Marian
âď¸âď¸âď¸âď¸âď¸ - I loved this book so much. I 100% recommend it
ââââââ
Icebreaker - Hannah Grace - Anastasia, a figure skater, and Nate, an ice hockey player end up needing to share an ice rink after an accident
âď¸ - do not even look at this book if youâre under 18. The antagonist in this was just so comically bad and all the other characters are just *too* nice and try hard likeable
ââââââ
Final Girls - Riley Sager - Quincy, Sam and Lisa all survived massacres and became what the media dubbed final girls. Lisa is found dead in her house and Sam ends up on Quincyâs doorstep, what really happened to Quincy 10 years ago and what is Sam hiding?
âď¸âď¸âď¸ - i didnât like the ending of this
âââââââ
What Might Have Been - Holly Miller - This shows the two different paths Lucy could take, in one she decides to move to London and revive her career and in the other she stays in her home town to become an author
âď¸âď¸ - this just didnât stand out to me and I thought the London love interest was the absolute worst
âââââââ-
The Reading List - Sara Nisha Adams - Widower Mukesh lives a quiet life in Wembley after losing his wife. Aleisha is working in the local library for the summer when she discovers a note with a list of books on it impulsively she decides to read every book on the list. When Mukesh arrives at the library trying to find a connection with his bookish granddaughter Aleisha passes the list onto him
âď¸âď¸âď¸âď¸âď¸ - I LOVED this book so much, my favourite read of the year
ââââââ
The Cuckooâs Calling - Robert Galbraith - Struggling private detective Comoran Strike is asked to look over a models death after her brother reveals he doesnât think it was a suicide
âď¸âď¸âď¸âď¸ - Points off because Strike is described as ugly and having pube like hair but three (3) beautiful women all want to sleep with him? Unrealistic
âââââââ
The Love Hypothesis - Ali Hazelwood - Olive hatches a scheme with grumpy professor Adam to pretend to date so her friend Anh will date Olives ex Jeremy and so that the school wonât think Adam is leaving and theyâll release his frozen funds
âď¸ - I paid 99p for this, it is literally published reylo fanfic
âââââââ
The Whistling - Rebecca Netley - Elspeth arrives on a remote Scottish island to become a nanny to a young girl who hasnât spoken in months. The girls silence is not the only mystery on the island. What happened to the girls twin brother and the last nanny? Is the whistling heard at night just the sea or is there something out there?
âď¸âď¸âď¸ - average book average score
âââââââ-
Book Lovers - Emily Henry - Cut throat literary agent Nora agrees to go to Sunshine Falls with her sister Libby to complete a check list of small town tasks but while there she meets a familiar face from the city.
âď¸âď¸âď¸âď¸âď¸ - I really liked this book, a good twist on the small town romance genre.
ââââââââ
The Pact - Sharon Bolton - six friends are looking forward to their futures, until a daredevil game goes horribly wrong, and a woman and two children are killed. 18-year-old Megan takes the blame, leaving the others free to get on with their lives.
âď¸âď¸âď¸ - kind of slow paced. Megan deserved to be more evil
âââââââââ
The Flatshare - Beth OâLeary - Tiffy needs a cheap flat, and fast. Leon works nights and needs cash. Their friends think they're crazy, but it's the perfect solution: Leon occupies the one-bed flat while Tiffy's at work in the day, and she has the run of the place the rest of the time.
âď¸âď¸ - Kind of cliche and predictable. Does not live up to the hype in my opinion
âââââââââ
Six Stories - Matt Wesolowski - Elusive online journalist Scott King investigates the murder of a teenager at an outward bound centre
âď¸âď¸âď¸âď¸ - This is like a true crime podcast but a book, very interesting. I felt the twist at the end was a bit silly
âââââââââ
The Jackman and Evans series - Joy Ellis
âď¸âď¸ - I think these books are really bad but I am obsessed with them because of how stupid they are
ââââââââ
Non fiction and short stories
The mystery of the exploding teeth - Thomas Morris
âď¸âď¸âď¸
ââââ
The vanishing triangle: the murdered women Ireland forgot - Claire McGowan
âď¸âď¸âď¸âď¸
ââââ
Post mortems - Carla Valentine
âď¸âď¸âď¸
ââââ
A sincere warning about the entity in your home - Jason Arnopp
âď¸
ââââ
Taken over by something evil from the TV set: a history of Britainâs video nasties controversy and other scary journalism - Jason Arnopp
âď¸âď¸
ââââ
Down among the dead men - Michelle Williams
âď¸âď¸âď¸âď¸
ââââ

Shattered Glass 18+

Astarion x f!reader
Summary: Astarion finally makes do on a promise.
This is part 2 of Secluded Evening. (Could be read as a stand alone)
Warnings: Smut, MDNI, oral fem receiving, PnV sex, unprotected sex, biting (of course) Astarion being a lovesick fool
Word count: 2.6k
Astarion threw another log on the fire; a flurry of embers took flight, dancing in the cold night air. The rest of the camp had already settled in their tents. You were nestled between his knees about five feet away from the flames. A throw blanket cascaded down your shouldersâa notebook on your lap.Â
He studies the rapid strokes of your hand from over your shoulder. The rough lines of charcoal were blooming into an identical copy of Laz'eal. Astarion pulled a strand of hair away from your eyes and began to weave your locks into a simple braid. He doesn't have a hair tie, and knowing you, you've lost yours. So, he twists the pieces, and once done let's go, kissing the crown of your head.Â
You barely acknowledge him, and when you suddenly shove the pencil over your shoulder, Astarion chuckles, taking it from you. He watches you begin smudging the charcoal with the pad of your finger. You're adorable when your art consumes you. Every time, it captivates Astarion.
This was how most of your nights were spent. Not always precisely like this; sometimes Astarion brought a book, and sometimes your hand got too sore to draw, so Astarion read to you as you curled on his lap. But as long as it was spent in each other's company neither of you cared much for the activity.
Astarion adored these nights the most, primarily because he could feast his eyes on your beauty without you shying away or throwing a stupid joke at him to break the tension. You were perfect in every way, and when he opened his heart briefly and confessed the broken pieces of himself and the motivations that led him to you. All you did was look at him with unspoken love and hugged him.Â
Your relationship became something more after that. Sex was not what drew the two of you together. For the first time in 200 years, Astarion had someone he trusted with his every sense of the word. Someone who wanted more than his body and showed their love for him without words. Someone he wanted to spend every moment of his life with despite the fear that thought causes him.Â
Astarion thinks he loves you but can't find the words when his mouth opens. He's always struggled with expressing his true feelings, but he wants to try with you. He wants to bear his heart to you and show you all that you mean to him. And with all the trust you and Astarion have established, one thing has become a very big problem.Â
You have begun to treat Astarion like glass, as if one sexual touch will break him. And frankly, it's pissing him off. Astarion finally has complete control over his body and a partner who he trusts. A partner that can bring him to his knees with a simple giggle and to put it bluntly, gods you were fucking sexy.Â
He's frustrated, horny, and has no idea how to ask for anything he wants. And for fucks sake, if he wakes from a meditation to have you grinding against his erection again, he just might explode.
In his frustrated musing, he didn't notice that you had placed your sketch pad away. He only noticed when you cupped his jaw and moved his eyes to meet yours. "What are you thinking about, handsome?"
It takes a moment for Astarion to collect himself as he stares at your soft smile. "I was thinking it's about time we get you, my sweet, to bed," he pecks your lips before grabbing your wrist and entwining your fingers. You nod and press a gentle kiss to his knuckles.
Astarion holds the flap open, and you duck inside. Kicking your pants off and into the corner, you unceremoniously plop down into the pile of cushions. You began sharing a tent in the shadow curse lands. Astarion found out pretty early on that nightmares of Cazador were less likely when you were in his arms. And thankfully, you slept better, too.Â
You prop yourself on your elbows and silently watch Astarion move about the small space, removing his outer clothing. He seemed to be stalling, almost like he was silently debating with himself. Astarion is in his underwear when he seems to come to a conclusion. He takes a deep breath and moves towards you. Kneeling by your feet, you watch as Astarion hesitates, his hand resting softly on your shin. Hesitation is soon replaced with a devilish smirk that stretches across his lips.
"Whatcha thinking about pretty boy?"Â
Astarion doesn't say anything, just slowly begins to crawl up your body before capturing you in a breathtaking kiss. His knee is between your legs; your hands are around his neck, pulling him flush against your body. You sigh softly into his mouth, moving your hands to caress his cheekbone.
He tongues the seam of your lips, and you are quick to gasp, giving him access to lick deeper. Astarion's hands are caressing up and down your curves, cupping your breast and tugging the metal bars of your nipple rings. His mouth moves to your throat, sucking hard at your jugular.Â
"W-wait!" You choke out, causing the elf above you to freeze. He's quick to remove himself from you, putting some distance between your bodies.Â
"Shit, didâŚdid I do something wrong?" Astarion's voice cracks; you've never heard him so unsure of himself. You pant hard but are quick to sit up and fall into Astarion's lap, his arms instinctually wrapping around your waist.
"No, gods no," you sigh, cupping his jaw and pressing your forehead against his. The tension in Astarion's shoulders drops, and he squeezes you a bit harder.
"Then what is it, my sweet?"
That has you pausing to figure out the best way to say this. "What was your plan?" Shit, that didn't sound good
"My plan! Are you serious?" He's already pulling away, shutting off completely when you pull him back tightly.
"No! Th-that's fuck, that's not what I meant, Star," at least he's not trying to run, but he's as stiff as ever. "Astarion, I will be as blunt as possible because I care about you. Were you trying to have sex with me because you felt obligated?"
This isn't what Astarion expected you to say because he can't mask the look of surprise. He opens his mouth to speak before clamping it shut. He does this twice more, but you don't rush him, you push stray curls behind his ear and wait.Â
"No." His voice is small. He clears his throat before speaking again, stronger this time. "No, I want this, and I would appreciate you stop treating me like fucking glass."
âWhat?â
You're flipped over, and suddenly, on your back, Astarion's body pressed closely against yours. He ruts against you. His cock was hard, feeling painfully constricted in his underwear. "I appreciate your patience with me, darling, but I need to clarify one thing to you right now."
Astarion licks a long stripe up your collarbone, ending just under your ear. You moan softly, trying desperately to roll your hips up into Astarion. "I have never wanted someone more than I wanted you. So, if it's okay with you, my sweet, I'm going to take the rest of our clothes off, and you're going to finally let me feast upon the sweetness between your legs."
You whine and buck, trying to get anything from Astarion's unmoving body. "Tsk, no, no, my sweet. Use your words." He purred, nipping your ear.
"Please! Yes! Oh gods, Astarion,"Â
Once the words leave your lips, you're tearing at each other's clothes in desperation. After you are both fully undressed, Astarion shoves you back onto the cushions. You expect him to pounce but he hovers staring down at your naked body.
Astarion's deft fingers grab your foot, and he presses a soft kiss to your inner ankle. A pang of heat flared through your lower abdomen. He kisses up to the top of your calf before giving a playful bite. You release a soft yelp, and Astarions lavishes the bite with his tongue. He slowly moves up to your inner thigh, leaving various bruises in his wake.
You're gasping as he ghosted over the spot you wanted him most. His breath fans over your dripping cunt, and you swear he's about to give you what you want. Then he kisses you. Just one small peck on the public area just above your clit, before he retreats. You cry, and one of your hands card into Astarion's white locks.Â
âNo! Please!â
He begins the same slow ascent up your other leg, paying just as much attention. "Now, as much as I love those beautiful noises you make for me. Remember that our camp members are trying to sleep; you can be a good girl for me, right?" He gazes up between your parted legs, and you nod and swear if he asked at this moment, you would have given him anything.
"I thought so," Astarion purred before licking up the entire length of your pussy. You moan out and swiftly clap your hand over your mouth. Then suddenly Astarion is a man starved.
His hand grips the underside of your thighs hard and pulls you down the bed as close as physically possible. He sucks, and licks, piercing his tongue sloppily at your dripping cunt, and you're a mess of pleasure. Your grind against Astarion's face, his nose rubbing beautifully against your clit. If it weren't for Astarion's hands keeping your thighs parted, you probably would be crushing his head in your desperation.
A low groan rumbles from Astarion's chest, and he focuses his attention, sucking tightly on the bundle of nerves. He slips his first and middle finger into your cunt and curls up, causing you to gasp for air.Â
"S-starâŚoh gods!" You cried, and he was ruthless with his assault. Astarion pumped his fingers quickly, the sloppy sounds of his mouth mixed with your muffled moan. Your stomach was coiling with pleasure, and you were embarrassed with how fast Astarion was picking you apart. "I'm close." you whimper, rolling your hips against his face.Â
Astarion, after a moment, releases your clit. Still pumping you with his fingers, he looks up at you, chin glistening with your arousal, a smug grin lazily plaster on his lips. "Come for me, love, be a good girl."
With the last few slips of his fingers, the coil snaps, and you're falling apart. Eyes unfocused, muscled tight, the silent gasp of ecstasy stuck in your throat. Astarion watches in amazement and arousal as you come apart so thoroughly with just his mouth and fingers. His cock is aching pre, now dribbling down the shaft.Â
Once your orgasm slows, you feel the immense need for more. And with Astarion still nestled between your legs, it has you moving without thought. You push Astarion back and plant yourself on his lap. You mash your mouth against him, chasing the taste of yourself on his tongue.Â
Astarion groans and cups the back of your head, deepening the kiss. Your palms roam down his chest, smoothing down his abs until you come to his neglected cock. It's swollen and red, and when you grip it softly, Astarions hisses into your mouth, bucking into your palm.Â
Smearing the pre-come around, you slowly work your hand up and down Astarion's dick in long, languid strokes. His eyes glaze over, and he moans, head dropping to your shoulder. Astarion's cold hands fondled your breast, and he leaned down to suck one of your nipples into his mouth. He pulls the metal piercing softly with his teeth.Â
You whine and tug on a fist full of Astarion's hair, rubbing your thumb over the head of his cock. "Fuck, darling." Astarion moans, moving to give your other breast equal attention. Your positive marks will be littering your body for days following. And the thought alone causes you to clench your thighs.Â
You pump your hand faster, and Astarion meets everyone with thrusts of his hips. He claims your lips again in a sloppy dance of wet tongues. Then suddenly Astarion stills your hand.
"If you keep this up, I'm not going to last much longer." Astarion's pants, nudging your nose with his.
"Isn't that kinda the point, handsome?"
"Not if I want to come apart feeling you clenching around me," Astarion's voice is breathless, and you moan at the thought. He kisses your cheek, then your jaw. Trailing his way to your neck. "Would you like that, my sweet,"Â
Whatever power you had over Astarion had just turned to dust. You bite your lip and nod quickly, letting Astarion push you on to your back. You part your hips, and Astarion slots right in.Â
"Words, my love. You do know how much I love your voice." Such a fucking tease.
Linking your arms around his neck, you pull him down, hitching one of your legs over Astarion's hips. "PleaseâŚI need you to fuck me."Â
"ShitâŚ" Astarion groans. Taking himself in hand, he smears his dick with your arousal before filling you agonizing inch by inch.Â
The two of you let out a collective cry of pleasure, and you feel complete. Astarion pulls out and slams his hips back, ripping the oxygen from your lungs, and sets a steady pace. You clutch at his shoulders, digging your nails into exposed skin. The slick sounds of Astarions pumping in and out of you were depraved and did nothing but fill your lower abdomen with molten lava. Astarion wholly consumed your senses.Â
The coolness of his lips left lingering kisses on your arched neck. The smell of bergamot and rosemary flooded your nose with each shaky inhale. The saltiness of any skin you could taste. It was too much and not enough all at once.Â
The scrape of Astarion's fangs graze his favorite feeding spot, and you grab the back of his head. "Yes! P-pleaseâŚ" and soon, the icy pierce of his teeth is followed by the cool tingle of pleasure that flows through your body.Â
Astarion grunts as soon as the blood touches his tongue. He ruts faster against you, grinding you into the blankets. He has to clamp a hand over your mouth to keep your voice from waking the whole camp.Â
But what can you do? Nothing. Not when his other hand begins to roll your clit in tight circles matching his thrusts. Your hands trail down his back, legs hooking tightly around his torso. The angle of your hips changes, and Astarion is pounding into the spot that has you seeing stars. You're close, and you try to say so, but Astarion hand is still tight around your mouth.Â
After a last mouthful of blood, Astarions peppers kisses over the bite. "I know, my sweet, I'mâŚfuck I'm close to."Â
His fingers are rubbing your clit faster, and his hips aren't letting up the brutal pace. Your legs are quaking, and you feel like you might faint. You clench tightly around him, and then you fall apart. Suddenly, Astarion's hand is gone, and his tongue is in your mouth, capturing every whimper of pleasure you give. And with a few more swallow sloppy thrusts, Astarion falls over the edge with you, filling you with his spent.
Astarion continue to languidly kiss you, both hands cupping your face like you are the most precious creature on the plane. He barely grinds his hips, feeling the last of your orgasms fade until you are both too sensitive.Â
And it's like someone cut the puppet strings. Astarion falls limply onto you, blanketing your body with his. You comb softly through his hair, gently pulling out any knots. Astarion kisses your shoulder before rolling off of you.Â
It is silent for a while as you stare into each other's eyes. Astarions is the first to speak. "I love you," His words were barely above the whisper, and if you weren't staring intently at the man, you might have missed it.Â
You're speechless. Were you dreaming?
"I still believe you deserve more than the broken man before you. But you've chosen me, and I have felt true happiness for the first time since waking up in my grave. And well-"
You don't give him a moment to finish before you're in his lap and tackling him into an embrace. "I love you, Astarion."Â
The dopey grin on his face has you breaking into your own. You press your forehead to his, and he hugs you tightly. You don't know what tomorrow brings. But being here, seeing Astarion's smile, and knowing he loves you just as much as you love him. It feels like you can do anything.Â
Okay, friends, this was just so fun to write. Let me know what ya thought. I swear all the love and support I've received from my last few posts have been so amazing. I'm so excited to show you more!!!

Help Support my BPS Classroom!
Please help me by filling up my empty classroom with supplies, books and games. After a decade of teaching I moved back to the Boston Area and in the move donated everything I had at the time to the schools and kids in the area. Now that Iâm back in a classroom in this fun late-stage capitalist hellscape I am back into an empty classroom full of needs...and even after spending over $200 in the first week, the classroom is still largely empty. Please support in any way you can, even if itâs just sharing! Amazon Classroom Supplies List: Amazon Classroom Book List: TPT fundraising:
FAQ Below
Itâs summer WTH?: Yeah, itâs summer! But fun fact, most kids are 1-2 years behind academically after the pandemic (awesome) so therefore more and more programs are running summer school. My program is part of BPS (Boston Public Schools) and focuses on ESL and Math for 2 hrs a day, with art, STEM, and Nature programs coming in the rest of the time to expose them to more things. However we are just in random classrooms in random schools in Boston, and have very limited supplies... Whatâs your class like: Chaotic Fun. They are 12 kids aged 9-11, half of whom are ELL, a third on IEPS, and all living around or below the poverty line. They love art, hate math (except for 2), and are neutral on ELA (depends on what weâre doing). I have 2 who cannot read at all, and 1 who reads at a 7th grade level. Most of them would be quite happy if I just always let them play with supplies rather than actually use them in any academic sense. You know, typical kids. What supplies do you have?: Upon arrival I was given 1 pack of 25 pencils, 6 packs of 10 markers, 1 ream of colored paper, Popsicle sticks, graphing paper, measuring tape(?), tissues and lysol, and two board games...Basically, what was donated to the program. Hereâs a photo.
If itâs a summer program what will you do with the supplies after the summer?: Pencils, markers, crayons, notebooks...that stuff Iâll give to the kids at the end. Extra larger supplies Iâll give to the program if they want them (they run after school programs during the year) or keep for the work I do during the school year (intervention work and contracted tutoring) What if i just want to give you money? What if things are too expensive? For legal reasons, classroom arenât allowed to ask for just money. Thatâs why we do supply lists instead, or raise funds for something specific (the TPT fundraiser). We are allowed to get gift cards though, so that is why they are on the amazon list. If there is is something else youâd want to donate, please ask! I have another question. Ask me!

HOW TO GET GOOD GRADES - a realistic guide!!
okay so youâre here because you wanna get good grades!! welcome, grab a notebook if you want and just read bcs im about to start shitting information :)
đ PAY ATTENTION IN CLASS đ participate!! if anyone understands the struggle for this, itâs the girl with crippling ADHD but trust me, shit gets so much easier to understand when you actually listen to the teacherâs yapping, no matter how hard it is.
go to school actually ready to learn!! like for me, i grab a coffee at this coffee shop near my school, i read a book before class to warm up my brain and i make a whole ritual out of going to school, that slowly it made me enjoy it more. now i show up to school well rested, nourished and ready to learn.
take notes YOU like. iâm not telling you to go buy $200 acrylic paint markers just to make your title pretty, iâm telling you that no matter what color your pen is, how little or much you write, take notes YOU understand and i guarantee shit will get so much easier for you. (and for the love of god use a pencil for maths!!!)
study the way you want. study in a cafe, library, or your own room for all i care, just do it in a way you love! the more you like it the more youâll want to do it. you can start by learning about something that interests you if youâd like, and then slowly move onto the topics you have to learn. be sure to take breaks and turn your phone off when youâre doing it!
manage your time efficiently. i donât wanna be the one to tell you this but babe, priotise your shit. donât choose to work on a bullshit extra credit project over an assignment that gives you a final grade. do your harder shit first and then move on to the easy stuff.
hang out with people that motivate you. this is more of a tip for life in general but it can apply to academics. if you hang out with 4 idiots, youâll become the fifth. hang out with people who motivate you to grow and learn as a person.
discover a study method that works for you!! if colour coding works, do it! if blurting works, do it! donât let anybody force their method on you if yours works best for you!! you know you better than anyone, try some stuff out and figure out what works best for you.
extra tips!!
check your answers after every test!
donât ever dumb yourself down <3
take lots of breaks to avoid burnout!!
do your homework!
ask for help!!!!
hereâs a little reminder that grades arenât everything, i know how it feels atm but still just fall in love with your life and all of the rest will follow after <3

How to Write a Good Fanfiction: A 5 Step Manual
Hello! My name is @love_kurdt, also known as Eva, and Iâm a Wattpad Veteran of the early 2010s, where the genres of Slash Fics, Y/N, and Imagines ran rampant. I spent years of my life as a kid scrolling through my iPod touch, weeding through Wattpadâs plethora of profiles, on a quest to find quality fanfictions. I found a handful, which I added to a specific reading list to come back to when I needed a break from screaming into my pillow because of the sheer audacity of thought-criminals who called themselves writers.
When Iâd reached the point of reading the same five works over and over in a never ending cycle, I decided to make the life-altering decision to start publishing my fanfictions online. Granted, I was only thirteen at this point, so my writing wasnât spectacular by any means, but I came to discover that over time, the mere acts of reading and writing can light a spark of inspiration that can carry you to creative success.
Iâve been writing my own works for over ten years now, and can confidently say that I have cracked the code to writing a good fanfiction that will have your readers captivated instead of cringing. Please donât get me wrongâ if you want to just write fanfic on the internet for fun, and not to write a novel, thatâs great, too! Thatâs what the internet is for; exercising your free will. But this manual is tailored towards those who want to hone in on their craft and gain a substantial following as strictly fanfiction authors. So without further ado, letâs jump into it. Godspeed!
Step 1: Choose Your Fandom
What show, movie, or book has drawn you in and left you feeling like there should be more to the story? When one of those media comes to mind, youâve chosen your fandom!
Step 2: Do Your Research
When writing fanfiction, itâs kind of an unspoken rule that you need to know the canon of the fandom youâre writing about. The canon is also known as the source material. For example, if someone were to write a Draco Malfoy x OC fanfiction (*cough* a 200+ page Draco Malfoy self insert fic written at 11 years old in a series of notebooks bound together with multiple layers of Gorilla tape *cough*), the canon would be the Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling. Itâs, in essence, what âreallyâ happened. Itâs totally fine if you want to write a non-canon compliant fic, too! In fact, theyâre extremely popular, specifically within the âfix-itâ genre, which usually involves characters that died in the canon but the author kept alive in their fanfiction. Either way, you should have a general idea of how the canon functions within the context of the fandom, so you can make creative choices that diverge from or stick to the canon.
With the canon comes the fanon, which is basically a compilation of fan theories and headcanons that are often common themes in both canon and non-canon compliant fanfics. A pretty niche example of this is the Byler fandom (the ship between Stranger Things characters Will Byers and Mike Wheeler), where thereâs an official list of theories on Tumblr that are used in many, if not most Byler fanfictions. Thereâs FlickerGate, where the flickering of the garage light in Season 1 is actually Will and Mike in the Upside Down in Season 5. Thereâs BirthdayGate, where the antagonist, Vecna, manipulates the minds of everyone in Hawkins to forget Willâs birthday, which is a central plot point in a lot of Byler fics since no one seems to remember it, not even his best friend. Thereâs also LetterGate, where Will confronts Mike in the canon about not sending any letters after heâd moved away, but the theory reveals that Mike wrote plenty of lettersâ he just never sent them because they ended up turning into love letters, which in turn resulted in internalized homophobia. You get the picture. Most theories reach far into the land of delusion, but it doesnât stop writers from creating incredible work that could easily be mistaken for a script.
But Eva, what if I just think the characters are hot and I donât give a shit about the cannonball? I canât tell you what to do, my friend, but I highly suggest you at least consider the canon so you can avoid all the petty, obnoxious gatekeepers in some fandoms who can be unhinged enough to send death threats if you leave out a significant canonical detail. But you do you!
Step 3: Choose Your Platform
There are three popular platforms to choose from: Archive of Our Own (ao3), Tumblr, and Wattpad. There are also a few other lesser known or dead pages such as fanfiction.net, but I honestly wouldnât bother with those, since theyâre more infiltrated with anons and bots nowadays.
This is where you want to think about 1) where most of the members in the fandom you chose reside, and 2) the demographic of readers you want to reach. For example, I observed a higher number of Nirvana fans on Wattpad than the other two platforms, which is why I chose to post my full length Kurt Cobain fanfiction, âYou Know Youâre Right,â on there. It also helped that my favorite author of another Kurt Cobain fanfiction on Wattpad, @/ugh-nirvana, had hits in the hundreds of thousands, so I was confident that my book would do well on that specific platform. On the other hand, the Stranger Things fandom is in full swing on Tumblr and ao3, so I chose to post those fanfictions on there rather than on Wattpad. It all just depends on whoâs where.
You also have to consider how active you want to be on your platform(s). Tumblr is more of a blog situation, while ao3 and Wattpad are solely for publishing the work. If you want to have a life beyond the realms of the world wide web, choose Wattpad or ao3, as inconsistent updates are a bit more accepted than on Tumblr. But if you want to throw yourself headfirst into a fandom and put your whole author-ussy into your fanfic, then Tumblr is the platform for you.
You should be aware, however, that Tumblr involves a lot of upkeep, as well as constant, strategic, and active participation within your fandom. Visual aesthetic is vital to any functional Tumblr blog. Most profiles have directories, with color coded links to each workâs homepage, which is linked to each individual chapter, which are then distinguished by a unique GIF to capture a prospective readerâs attention while theyâre scrolling through copious amounts of content. And there are always new ideas and theories in development in certain fandoms, so itâs crucial to keep up with recent updates in order to stay relevant.
After all is said and done, you donât have to get married to one platform for the rest of your life. You can choose to be exclusive to one or two platforms, or publish everything on all of them! The decision is ultimately yours!
Step 4: Obey the Writerâs Trifecta of Consistency
Yes, I came up with this term, and yes, it should be a real thing. Because in every piece of writing, whether it be fanfiction, a short story, an actual book, a screenplay, what have you, it is critical to be consistent in your People, your POV, and your Plot. Let me explain.
People
Your people, or your ensemble of characters, consists of three hierarchical levels: your protagonist/antagonist, your side characters, and other background characters. I should emphasize the importance of building character profiles for everyone, including your pre-existing characters from the fandom, but specifically for your original character(s) if you have them. That way, you know who serves as a major plot device, who serves as someone who just helps time move faster, and those who are mentioned by name but have very little significance to the events of the story. Iâm going to reference Harry Potter again, since most of the world is familiar with the characters. Harry and Voldemort are the protagonist and antagonist; Ron Weasley, Hermione Granger, Professor Dumbledore, Hagrid and company are side characters; and Peeves, Seamus Finnigan, and Blaise Zabini are background characters. Keep this hierarchy in check; donât let your main characters fade away, and donât let your background characters shift to the forefront for no reason. If you do plan to move a character up or down the ladder, make sure to have clear motive as to why youâre bringing this character into or out of play.
2. POV
Your POV is the point of view in which youâre writing from. Assuming youâve been in a typical middle school English class, youâve heard of the first, second, and third person points of view. I cannot tell you how many times I have read fanfictions that jump from one POV to another, sometimes within the same sentence. I open the door and see Kurt Cobain standing in the corner of the room. She walked across the floor to meet him there. See what I did there? I jumped from first person present tense to third person past tense. Do not attempt this at home.
The least common of the three points of view is the second person, or what I like to call the Y/N point of view. In fanfiction, second person POV is often used in self-insert fics, where instead of a characterâs name, itâs replaced with âyou.â Thatâs why a lot of romantic character x reader fics are so popular. You should feel free to use this one, especially if thatâs the kind of vibe youâre going for, but Iâm going to elaborate a little bit more on first and third person, as theyâre a bit more âliterary.â
The first person POV confines the narration to the mind of one character. It can also be done with multiple characters, but be sure to do it so itâs painstakingly obvious to the reader whose POV youâre writing from. Also note that if you plan to write multiple first person POVs, try to keep that number on the lower side, as a large number of POVs can get really complicated really quickly. Third person narration can be done from two angles: limited or omniscient. Limited is more similar to first person, in which youâre confined to one personâs viewpoint, but they arenât the narrator; youâre just seeing the story through their eyes. Omniscient is my favorite, because you can narrate from a birdâs eye view with the freedom to travel from mind to mind and read their thoughts.
Building character profiles can be really helpful when developing both first or third person POV; if you connect with a particular character more strongly than the rest, that should tell you whose POV you should write in. If you choose to switch POVs, be sure to do it either on an alternating/rotating basis, or if you repeat, it should be apparent as to why that particular character is the âvoiceâ of that scene.
3. Plot
Dare I say that Plot is the most important step of them all, so do not skip this one, whatever you do! The biggest mistake most fanfiction writers make is having a concept but lacking a plot. Itâs like biting into an apple just to discover itâs a lemon. Many writers are capable of starting off strong, but once their initial story begins to meander, traveling into uncharted territory, their brainchild can become a monstrosity.
In order to write a solid plot, itâs pretty common knowledge that you need to have a beginning, middle, and end in place. It doesnât need to be overly specific or down to the last detail, you just need to figure out how your characters make it from point A to point Z (the larger scale), and how points B through Y factor into the plot (the smaller scale). There are a few routes that you can take in order to do this: you can write the entire thing ahead of time without any input, you can write the entire thing with the feedback of a beta reader or proofreader to help you work out any kinks or mistakes before you publish it for the entire platform to see, or you can publish it gradually and take feedback from your readers as you go. Should you go with the last option, though, you should be made aware that if you arenât already an established author, it may feel like youâre talking to a wall, and you will likely feel discouraged from writing the story altogether.
I find it helpful to outline the whole thing. I have a closet door in my house dedicated to a Dave Grohl true crime fanfiction Iâm working on. Iâve written the entire story from beginning to end on index cards, split into four different parts with each card representing a chapter. Whatâs good about outlining is that I can edit my story as I go along. If I decide to change something, I can add or remove an index card, then replace or rearrange the other index cards to work around the change I made, and that way, I donât have to start over from scratch. Itâs helpful to see everything laid out in front of me, so Iâm not left at the end of a completely improvised plot with a slew of loose ends that Iâll need to go back and edit. Itâs also better than publishing each part individually then having to redo everything after your readers have already seen it. And I donât know about you, but I enjoy it when Iâm able to save some time, energy, and lengthy explanations to random people online. That is, unless you enjoy constant feedback from readers, in which case you can change the plot on a chapter by chapter basis based on their feedback.
Consistency in all of these respects is key. I cannot emphasize this enough. Keeping all of these elements in check will help you create a sort of cohesiveness that will neatly wrap the story up with a little bow on top.Â
Step 5: Use Relevant Tags and Content Warnings
Repeat after me: tags matter! Again: tags matter! When youâre about to publish your fanfiction, youâre going to be given the option to add tags to your work. For my first few years spent on Wattpad, I had no idea what tags were, so I didnât use them. Thankfully, the platform was still pretty small, so people still found my work pretty easily. Nowadays, though, itâs nearly impossible to find what youâre looking for without searching excessively specific tags and using a million filters. Itâs unfortunate, but look at it this way: there are so many people contributing to so many fandoms that the content is seemingly endless!
What youâre going to want to do is add as many tags as you can but keep it as simple as possible. I know that sounds kind of oxymoronic, but I mean it in a way that all of your tags relate directly to your story, and not just to the fandom itself. A lot of readers feel misled when theyâre scrolling through their filtered search page for, letâs just say, a Byler fanfic, and end up neck deep in a Mileven fanfic in disguise. Thatâs not a fun experience.
Lastly, please remember that you are publishing your work on the internet, and you donât know who may encounter your work! Listen, we live in a world where everything needs to be overexplained, everything needs trigger warnings, and everything needs to be neutral or else someone is going to hate you. I get it. Iâve been writing fanfiction for a long time. It might be annoying to add content warnings, especially if one of those warnings spoils a major plotline, but if Iâm being honest, Iâd rather be safe and add the damn warning than not add the warning and be responsible for someoneâs worsened emotional or mental state. Bottom line, itâs just fanfiction! Letâs do our due diligence to create a community full of love and understanding for everyone!
After that, you should be all set to publish! Letâs review one more time for the road:
Choose Your Fandom
Do Your Research
Choose Your Platform
Obey the Writerâs Trifecta of Consistency
Use Relevant Tags and Content Warnings
If youâve stuck around for this long, thank you so much!
I hope this manual helps you along your fanfiction writing journey, wherever it takes you <3

Classroom Support Call!
What supplies do you have?: Upon arrival I was given 1 pack of 25 pencils, 6 packs of 8 markers, 1 ream of colored paper, a ruler, and some graphing paper, a the board game Trouble. Basically, what was donated to the program. For legal reasons, classroom arenât allowed to ask for just money. Thatâs why we do supply lists instead, or raise funds for something specific (the TPT fundraiser). We are allowed to get gift cards though, so that is why they are on the amazon list. I have another question. Ask me!

200 Hour Polish Update
*Caveat: I had been studying Polish since around 2020 using mostly traditional methods. If you look, Iâve been in this server for a while so I, in my infinite stupidity, was lazy and didnât start doing a lot of immersion until this year (despite being pretty obsessed with learning Polish⌠ik weird ass logic). Which so far, has been 200 hours. Realistically, I donât know how many hours my total progress indicates but ehh. Before this year my study has mostly just been reading about grammar and reading from textbooks.
What has my immersion consisted of?
watching videos on YouTube (without subs)
listening to podcasts
How much a day / how do I track?
200 minutes a day (3.3 hrs). At the start I did 60 minutes (1 hr), and then I moved up to 100 minutes (1.6 hrs)
I track everything with a pen and small notebook. I think itâs more satisfying (and easier for me) to track this way. It boosted my motivation to see pages fill up. I much prefer physical tracking to digital. Personal preference, this is neither good nor efficient so donât do this lol.
What Iâm glad I did / progress I made.
I started off this year already with a decent level. I could understand basic conversations but sometimes I would have a hard time catching words I knew just because I hardly did any listening. 200 hrs later, I have no trouble at all with that. I can follow more complex lines of thought and discussions. I will say though, I still struggle with stories. I think if I focus on that type of media that will sort itself out. My main focus was just to get good at the subjects I enjoy. I donât like TV / Movies / fiction at all, so I mostly avoided it. I started off the year with watching My Life as a Teenage Robot, Hilda, and a little Kid Cosmic (never finished it) but I didnât really want to continue that since I was getting bored. Once I switched to videos and podcasts about subjects I enjoy (history, religion, politics) I found it much easier to go on for long periods of time.
I now find it much easier to write / think in Polish. My writing is not that great still, but I feel like Iâve made progress. I plan to focus on output more in the future, but I think that I will focus on improving my writing after I start reading more. I need to see good examples of the written word before making serious attempts to replicate it.
I did no look ups (with some exceptions but for the most part it was exceedingly rare, and when I did it was monolingual). Iâm glad I made that choice. Before one of my main barriers to immersion was all of the Anki fiddling and sentence mining / look ups. I am someone who has a hard time getting in the habit of doing things, and a lot of that was a huge barrier to entry for me. I said screw it, and just sat down and watched stuff. Nothing more, nothing less. I think this is one of the best choices Iâve ever made. Besides the executive function matter, I think overall this was more beneficial than If I had managed to do Anki and look ups. I know myself, I wouldâve poured over the nuances of a certain word out of context in a dictionary entry. Which in the grand scheme of things, is a massive waste of time. That time is much better spent engaging with content. The wordâs Iâm âready to learnâ will come to me so to speak. I strongly recommend this strategy. Itâs a little uncomfortable at first, but in the long run itâs worth it.
What do I regret?
Not starting sooner (duh). Seriously though, the main lesson I Learned was to not be so slow to change. I am a very change resistant person, I really struggle to change my routine / try something different. This really has shown me that just getting started is very very worth it. Even if the first few days suck.
Trying to read books too early. I donât know why I tried to do this. I donât particularly enjoy reading in English, so Iâm not sure why I tried to force myself to read in Polish, which is obviously harder. My reading era in Polish shall come someday, but Iâm not going to try it until I can get into it in English first. If Itâs a chore to do I wonât bother with it right now. One of my goals is to read Sienkiewicz but thatâs a far off goal. I will let you all know when I get there.
Previous and current level (self assessed, take with a grain of salt)
2C/3 in refold terms (current)
Level of Understanding (before) A2-B1
Level of Output (before) terrible, I shudder at the thought
Level of Understanding (current) B2
Level of Output (current) B1, needs work of courseâŚ
Statistics
Start: Sat. Jan 7th
End: Tue. Apr 11th
Jan: 2061 min / 34.4 hrs Feb: 2149 min / 35.9 hrs Mar: 5220 min / 87 hrs Apr: 2459 min / 41 hrs
What now?
I am going to take a temporary break from Polish to focus on Czech. I will be moving to Prague in the fall so I want to get a bit of a head start (even though I will be learning Czech there anyway as part of my degree program but I plan to use English as little as possible when I get there.) I want to do about 100 hours in Czech and then return to Polish (rather, incorporate both into my routine). Partly because I want to get through the beginner stages of Czech as quickly as possible (with minimal Polish interference) and partly because I want to see how my Polish will fair after a break. Will it improve? Get worse? Stay the same? Remains to be seen. I will provide an update after I do said 100 hours in Czech. The nature of that update again, remains to be seen.
A few words of likely generic advice...
Donât be hard on yourself. I know this is almost a clichĂŠ at this point, but being overly critical of myself stunted my progress. I was afraid to challenge myself out of fear that I was not ready / I wasnât good enough.
Donât try to optimize everything. Itâs impossible. You wont be able to keep perfect records of everything, you wont be able to track every second, you wonât be able to exactly know where youâre at level wise. It doesnât matter where you are right now, just keep moving forward. Even if you arenât that far now, if you keep moving youâll be a lot further along than if you hadnât moved at all.
DziÄkujÄ serdecznie za uwagÄ! CzoĹem ;-)

Back Stories Aren't Always Pleasant
Ch. 1 of 'Over My Head'
Matsushita Enji Ă Reader
Reminder, tall plus size!Y/N
And fuck you if you're upset about it
Next Chapter
Slay besties anywho-
Warnings: Swearing, use of the word fat as an insult, and people bullying Y/N for her weight.
Just an FYI, the reason i made Y/N plus sized is because I am also a plus sized girl, and I am tired of Y/N always being skinny. So... yeah, i hope you enjoy!
"I don't... have the energy right now, ok kiddo?" She mumbled, laying in bed, tired after the killer nightshift. She had to go to her second job in 3 hours.
"But momma, pleaseeee," the young boy begged. It wasn't his fault. He didn't understand why she was always so tired. "Enji, I said not now. Please let me rest," she said, a bit more sternly. He looked down in disappointment, and nodded, leaving her room.
He stayed in his room, reading the same book he had already read hundreds of times. He loved it.
But he hated Wednesdays. Wednesdays were when he had to go down to the store. By himself.
She gave him a list, and he would go. When he got back, the change went into the change jar, and he would put the groceries away. Then he would stay alone for a couple more hours. Sometimes the whole night. To which he would eat some cereal, or sometimes nothing at all. He would tuck himself in, and go to bed.
His mother would usually wake him up for school, but there was days she wouldn't. Those days he woke up himself and got ready.
____________
"Hey, wanna go out sometime?" The boy asked. You heard his friends snicker behind him, and shook your head. "You must think I'm really dumb," you sighed, closing your notebook, packing it away in you backpack. "No. I'm serious," he said, trying to grab you. "Don't touch me. And go tell your stupid ass friends that laughing behind you isnt a good idea. Let me guess, they bet you 200ÂĽ you could make the 'fat girl' go out with you and humiliate her? Or maybe it was less then that? Who cares," you said, his face contorting into one of shock.
"What you think this hasnt been done to me before? You think you're special? After the first 3 times, it starts loosing it's charm."
____________
"Mom, are you going out with him again?"
The now teenage boy stood, staring at his mother who was getting ready. She nodded happily, putting her black, softly curled hair in a half up half down style.
"I... never mind," he mumbled, going back to his room. "Hun... I know its a big change for you... but you couldn't always be the only boy in my life," she said jokingly. He wanted to scoff. She was paying more attention to this man than she ever had to him. But he didn't. Instead he pursed his lips together, took a breatj and sighed. "Its ok mom... as long as you're happy," he said. "Oh there's my sweet boy. I promise we'll do something this weekend," she said, kissing the top of his head. He gave a soft smile.
That weekend would never come. He knew that she would have to work, or her new boyfriend wanted to take her out. But he wasn't upset. He was used to it.
_________
You walked down the street, humming happily to yourself.
You had some fabric in a bag as the school uniforms never fit you right. The back was always to short.
On your way, however, you encountered some boys from your school. "Oh great," you mumbled to yourself, keeping your eyes glued to the floor. Maybe they wouldn't notice you.
You were wrong.
"Hey there (L/N)," one of them said. "Fuck off," you said, continuing to keep walking. You were not going to deal with this.
"Oh come on, you know you want me," he teased, grabbing the bag of fabric. "What's this? Gotta make your own clothes because you're to fat to fit in the school uniform?"
You grit your teeth in anger.
"The way my body looks has nothing to do with anything. You are a shallow human being," you insulted, trying to grab the bag away from him. He kept it away from you, making more insulting remarks.
He and his friends kept laughing, throwing it around.
Eventually one of them took the fabric and dumped it on the floor, stomping it into the puddle that had formed from the rain earlier. Your eyes widened.
They left, laughing, as you fished the fabric out. It was muddy, wet, and torn.
This fabric had cost you quite a bit. Not only was it the school approved fabric and color, but the ammount you needed had been a problem for the woman who ran the shop.
You grabbed it and stuffed it into the bag, tears falling down your face.
"Are you ok miss?"
The voice sounded kind and concerned.
"Y-yeah... I'm fine," you responded, quickly drying your tears.
"I saw what they did... I'm sorry I didn't step in," he apologized, kneeling down besides you, helping you grab some of the other items that had fallen out of the bag. "It's alright... I'm used to helping myself," you responded. You didn't dare look at this person. You were embarrassed as it was already. "So am I... maybe not due to the same circumstance, but... I do have to help myself most of the time," he responded.
Silence filled the air.
He picked up a small makeup kit you had and handed it to you. You decided to look at him.
He had dark eyes, that were filled with sincerity. Shaggy black hair that was sort of covering his left eye. You smiled. "I don't think you need this...however if it makes you happy to wear it... then it's a good investment. I know I have no say in what a woman does with herself. Im just saying... you're pretty without it," he said shyly. You could see his cheeks get slightly red.
"Thank you."
__________
The first day of class. You were a bit nervous, but it was your second year of college.
You walked into your Psychology II class, and sat down in an empty desk right at the front. The professor looked at you skeptically, and turned away. You sighed. He was already making assumptions about you, and he hadn't even heard you speak. He didn't even know your name for God's sake.
You saw someone sit next to you out of the corner of your eyes, but ignored it.
They would most likely move later.
The front row stayed empty besides the two of you.
The professor did role call, and began with the syllabus.
After that he introduced his ultimate goal.
"Psychology is a field in which you can do many things. It is also a field in which many people end up taking their own lives. Ironic, isn't it? The people who study human behavior and how the brain works are most likely to commit suicide. Which is why we do a lot of partner work in my class. You will never have to go through looking at these disturbing cases or anything that might trigger you, alone. So, I will be calling pairs. When I say your name raise your hand. Keep it raised until i call your partner's name. Then go sit by them. These will be your partners for the rest of the year," he stated, getting his clip board.
He began listing off names. You listened for yours.
"(L/N) (Y/N)..."
You raised your hand.
"And Matsushita Enji."
The boy next to you raised his hand.
You heard giggling behind you.
"The freak and the fat girl. How fitting," you heard a voice say.
"You wanna be a psychologist with that mean girl attitude? Might as well tell your patients to go kill themselves at that point," he said to her, looking bored. She looked shocked, and hid her face. You looked over at him for the first time.
Dark eyes
Shaggy black hair
That was completely covering his left eye.
The boy from the street.
"Alright the rest of class can be used to converse with your partners. Next class we will start lessons," the professor said.
You turned to the person next to you.
"You're the boy from the street," you said, barely above a whisper. "So you do remember? And here I thought I'd never see you again," he whispered back, a shy smile on his face.
"I guess it is about time we had a proper introduction, no? Matsushita Enji," he said, sticking his hand out. You shook it with a smile. "(L/N) (Y/N). But please call me by my first name," you said. "Then it's only fair I let you do the same don't you think?"

WTNV quick rundown - Live Show/164 - The Faceless Old Woman
Read the rest here!
Featuring the voice of Mara Wilson as The Faceless Old Woman Who Secretly Lives In All Of Our Homes
CW: emetophobia (also there's a lot of insect mentions but I forget what that fear is called so cw bugs I guess? sorry~ )
I am the faceless old woman who secretly lives in your home...
This live show we hear from the FOW. She is the only one we hear during this episode/live show.
The FOW feels fear when noticing three elderly residents living in a single house. She is not sure at what time they are or will be there because time is still weird for her, but knows that they scare her. She thought at first they were in a polycule but the residents have their own rooms and don't speak to or even look at each other. They also don't actually sleep despite going through the ritual of it and aren't afraid when she reveals herself to them.
One has deep scar tissue around an ear. One has no tongue. One has a bad tattoo with poetry written underneath it. They all inspire fear in others when seen and ignore each other whilst showering somehow leaving completely dry towels behind.
At meal time they all make seperate meals (still ignoring each other) and attempt to consume it only to vomit it up in a single watery fountain and begin again to try and consume the food. One of them gets tired of this and throws their plate through the kitchen window before punching out the glass despite it cutting them badly. They howl in sadness and their neighbour, Susan Wilman's lemon tree dies, it's fruit dropping down and bursting open showing meat-like flesh inside.
The FOW realises they are the three people she's been talking about, except they are dead (or will be dead) and each of them will be trapped in that house together yet not together as ghosts unable to move on.
She ends by saying she plans to start showing herself to everyone.
Weather: None
The resident with the tattoo is Toni. The tattoo was given by the FOW using the metal rod from Toni's fondue set. Toni wants to be a poet but currently works doing direct marketing selling high interest credit cards. The FOW enjoys putting various insects on Toni's face and taking pictures of them, which she plans to eventually exhibit in Toni's living room. The tarantula she placed on their face bit them causing swelling of the eyes.
Adi, wanted for murder in another state (but ironically not the murder they actually did) goes on House Hunters to get the house they will eventually live in. They left their family, friends and girlfriend of two years behind. They had a dog, but it was arrested for peeing in the dog park. The FOW put a woodboring bettle into their ear and this is why they are heavily scarred there after their death.
Morgan does not pay the standard 20% and often yells for a manager over the smallest issue. The FOW cuts out their tongue and feeds it back to them in the soup they later orders at Applebee's. They are the resident who moans and wails after breaking the window.
Someone else directly mentioned is Alex. They have terrible wifi and are asked if they've done their taxes on time. They also apparently had a yellowing lettuce in their crisper. The FOW makes herself a salad, using up all of Alex's parmesan cheese and replacing it with dead skin she's collected.
The FOW writes how, when and where everyone will die in the back of journals and notebooks they own but people tend not to read them, except for Jonathan Franzan who is also not going to die.
The FOW also mentions replacing a Community Players' fake poison for the end of Romeo and Juliet with borax.
The FOW is over 200 years old, was born in another country, spent some time amongst thieves and then later upon death spent time under the sea. (the book about her explains it more but alas I do not have it).
She advises that we all Tweet too much.
I am the faceless old woman who secretly lives in your home. And your home. And your home. And every home. And I will be seeing you very, very⌠soon.
Proverb: Never judge a book by its cover, judge it by the title page instead.

Hi! I saw your post about that article and commentary on phones and social media. In it you mentioned being able to read 200 page books and all in that in the past. I wanted to share that instead of pour over books itâs pore over books- poring over books. I also read a lot and am highly distractible now. The correction isnât meant to be negative- just an interesting fact. Anyway hope that you are well and can become less distractible too. I also want to be working on it because my phone is wasting my time and entire life.
Oh ok sick I'm always making mistakes like that lol I'll correct it in the original post. Thanks for letting me know! <3
I hope the both of us can improve our lives and get off this damn app!
In all seriousness, I find that allowing myself to go down internet rabbit holes to avoid the endless scrolling has been helpful. Keeping a notebook to write everything down. I'll still switch between different tabs or topics, but I'm trying to grow my attention span slowly without cutting off social media or time online entirely. I've been wanting to start a journal I keep while going through social media so I can actually engage with a topic and disengage from my screen before mindlessly scrolling onto the next thing but I haven't tried that yet.
I also have been reading actual books, albeit slowly. I ordered paper copies. I've been reading multiple books at once so that I can always pick up something I'm in the mood for. I haven't actually finished one in a while, but I'm still trying.
As much as it seems like things aren't improving, when you work on it and try out little strategies like this I think it genuinely helps. Even if it seems like it doesn't and you keep going back to scrolling for hours. Progress isn't linear. It'll get better for us.

Feel free to do these yourself and delete my answers! I am just doing these for fun and for myself :)
1. I just use the default. I dont care to much about the font. As long as i can read it it is good to me.
2. Yes. Mostly because i used to just have a notebook that i wrote into myself, i started writing with writing by hand. I would miss the spelling check very much though.
3. It is putting on a old live stream and just writing while i listen with half an ear. Most often minecraft. Another one is listening to like 5 songs for an hour as a drive and just think about my story.
4. Effect/affect mostly because i keep mixing the two up and i will always lose my mind over it and try to avoid them.
5. Different font increases your proof read abilities by 200%. It just works.
6. That no one actually enjoys reading it and make fun of it.
7. Being able to reread it later and see the idea that for so long lived in my head to jsut. Exist. Becaus enow it exists i also get to enjoy it whenever i want.
8. Oooh! Both actually sound like a fun challenge. Mmmh. If i went woth only action it would mostly be a journey about how someone finds their way back home. Describing about the world around them and what they do each step of the way. Dialogue would probably be about two characters discussing different ideologies and would be much more character focussed.
9. No but i am not about to mess with any of it in case it is a yes after all.
10. Has a piece ever haunted me. Mmmh.. i actually think that is a fanfiction i read a few years back. In a positive way. I mostly write fanfiction and it has the whole stigma about it only being porn and fanservice. This fanfiction was one of the first ones i read where the overall plot was just amazing and better than some of the books i had read. I dunno. That work haunts me in the way that it proved to me that fanfiction can be just as good as books and that it is honestly fine to keep writing it. Haunted to me means that it left a lasting inpact on you.
11. No. I dont believe in it and i do think there are multiple ways to interpret it. First way. Character killing. This is a no mostly because that gets boring after a while. Sure you get the shock factor for it but... well. You also kill all the possibilities that this character gave you. You kill all future possible interactions. And if you dont let your characters grieve properly or take the time to let them grieve you make your other characters seem cold and as if they didnt care about this character at all. And if you kill of a formally 'evil' character as a big sacrifice move than i just find you lazy because you didnt take the time to properly redeem them and just wanted to right all their wrongs by making them do the 'one right thing'. As for killing part of your writing for the sake of the story? You dont need to delete it? You can just save it in a seperate doc and remove it and maybe reuse the idea or the set up at a later date when it fits better. You put effort into writing it, you should be allowed to keep it. Even if it is just a seperate doc called "deleted scenes" or something like "bloopers" you can save the stuff that doesnt fit in there. Writing is also for yourself and just because it doesnt fit the story at the moment doesnt mean you have to fully sacrifice it, it can always just be a little silly thing that is private to you that gives you joy.
12. Oooh. Mmmh... honestly? Just that i had more motivation to write. And that i dared to actually go to a publisher with my books. That is it. The third wish can go to someone else who needs another wish more.
13. I struggle with fighting scenes. Dialogue is easy to me. (Short tip for dialogue writing. First write everything that you want the characters to say. Then go back to add actions. Helps to get the conversation flowing and going without you having to worry about actions)
14. I loan books no problem. I dont borrow as much because i dont relaly read anymore. Honestly i dont care that much. Books are just tools to be used to enjoy. As long as i can still read the story i am good fam. If they destroy destroy the book i know my friends would get me a new one because they are responsible so i dont worry about it that much.
15. I dont write in them. I do dog ear them and read in baths. Again. Books are tools to be enjoyed. Be careful with your stuff but in the end they are relatively easy to replace if you really need to.
16. I dont really use weird tags? Just normal fandom and character tags mostly.
17. Friend you relaly dont want to enable me like that. The fact my WIP at the moment is 380K words should tell you as much.
18. Oh that is easy. The original scene was going to be two brothers arguing but then one said.
"Like. I get that you are angry. But i am honestly just really happy to see you."
And it just changed everything about the scene and the flow for me.
19. I starting writing when i was like seven eight ish. It was a stupid story about a kitten stuck on a roof i believe. Short thing, writen by hand on school. I was so proud of it. I believe that then i decided i wanted to be a writer. That dream fell apart when i turned eleven because i learned i was dyslexic and clearly that meant i could never be a writer. I was hesrt broken about it. Then by 15 i injured my leg and was stuck at home for like three weeks and i was BORED! Note i had already been reading fanfiction and then i thought fuck it and i started writing again because again i was bored and i figured it would keep me busy. I just never stopped. I do got a normal job now and i finished college but the dream of finishing a book has returned and i hope to one day do it and at least be a writer. Even if i dont earn my bread with it. One book is enough for me. Maybe one day i will dare make that step.
20. Finishing that book man. I am ace and have accepted i will most likely be single for life. I got my friends and that is enough. Also. Honey. Eternity is a very very long time.
(We are halfway lets goooo!)
21. I did once when i was younger but came back to it. I figure that if i dont like it anymore i will stop. Until then i wont stop.
22. I have a map on my computer with all my WIPs amd that is it. If it becomes a real long story i will make an excel sheet with the important times and stats and stuff. Otherwise i just hope my brain remembers it all.
23. On the couch. Laptop in lap. Cat between my legs. Drink on the table. Tv on on a live stream.
24. I get an idea and i just roll with it. If i get stuck on a scene i just mark it as a break in thw writing and continue with a scene that i do have ideas for. The ideas come and go and if i really like it i make a small note on my phone to try and add it later.
25. One girl drinks grape juice out of wine glasses as if it is fancy wine.
26. I just... write. I think about what i know about them. Their speech patterns and just... write. I write down whatever comes into my head and let them move as they please along the conversation. The plot of the book is just me setting the scene, the characters do their own things within the story and i just gotta edit to fit them. And i never regret going into the head of a character, even if i would prefer some characters to die a painful dead. Just because i know how they would react and what they would do does not mean i agree with them.
27. Asgore. It took me AGES to figure out how to deal with him.
28. danny fenton. He is a delight and a gremlin and i love him <3
29. Music mostly. If i run dry i reread parts of my own writing and think about what they would have done with different stuff.
30. Hah! Never. My dreams make no sense whatsoever.
31. Love letter to readers!
I love you. I love the comments, i love the kudo, i love the reblogs, i even love the lurkers i dont see. I dont think i can explain what it means to me. I write because i like it yes. But in a way i always believe i will be the only one who would like it. To hear that others enjoy it and engage with the little silly worlds i make. The scenes i set. It means the world to me. Because it makes me feel i am able to create something that brings joy. Thank you and i love you.
32. Dont really got one like that sorry.
33. I paint as well and use pastel chalks. Though that is a lot slower and it takes me months to even finish a piece
34. I am not smart enough to use it efficiently.
35. Use perfect grammar. I demolish that rule when writing, especially with dialogue. I will start my sentences with 'and' and you can not stop me >:D
36. I know a lot of biology. Also maths.
37. Man. She loved world building.
38. Probably my unending rambling that i add to my writing. I got no chill. As for what my cat thinks about me? Probably that i am rude for removing him from my lap.
39. Comments mostly. And rereading my own work.
40. Oh friend i dont know poems sorry. I hope the other answers were good enough!.
God that took longer than i though it would but tada! Writers ramblings :D

At the sort of arts honors college Iâm teaching at next semester every instructor gets 200 dollars to spend on the class as they see fit, under certain rules.
As far as I can tell, itâs been 200 dollars for over a decade and it used to be used to pay guest speakers but now that would be an insanely low amount to pay someone. And arts supplies are given to us for free. So everyone just uses it to buy pizzas because literally nothing educational is 200 dollars. Or notebooks.
You arenât allowed to use it buy books for some reason, but because post COVID the current students sometimes outright refuse to buy books were also discouraged from making them buy books now.
So I was likeâŚ.hey. I really want my students to read this memoir. Its important to me that they read it. Everything else I can scan or get online but not this and Iâm assigning the whole thing so I canât legally scan it. I think a lot of them will resist buying it even though itâs 10 bucks, because, students right now. Can I please just use the budget to buy 20 of these instead of pizza
And they were oh wow. That never occurred to us. I guess with students these daysâŚAnd theyâre going to think about it
But really, this should have been the case for years and years!! Just buy booksâŚ.

Which Publishing Option is Best for You?
Now that our NaNoWriMo marathon is over and our adrenaline may be wearing off, whatâs next? We have NaNo Guest Lauren Ranalli sharing her wisdom about publishing.
Do you have an idea for a book that has been rolling around in your mind? Is there a story that keeps popping into your head when you take a walk, drive your car, or get in the shower? So many of us have great ideas for writing a book! And most of us donât know where to start⌠I sat of my first book idea for almost 8 years because I didnât know where to begin.Â
If youâre looking to publish a book, there are typically 2 routes you can take: Traditional Publishing and Self-Publishing.Â
Benefits of Traditional Publishing.Â
Becoming a published author through a traditional publishing house has its benefits. Your book can show up in every Barnes and Noble around the country. You may get a paid advance for your work. And you might have someone coordinate your book tour. All good things!
Itâs a great option for many talented writers, especially if you are willing to put in 3 or more years of effort to see your book on the shelf. Traditional publishing may involve 1-2 years to find an agent and a publisher, and then another 2 years before the final book is released.Â
Hereâs a little secret about me: I am not a patient person.Â
Benefits of Self-Publishing:Â Â
First, letâs clear up a misconception: Self-publishing is not the default for authors who could not find a publisher. Far from it! Self-publishing is an active, creative decision. And itâs the decision that was best for me. If you are an author considering your publishing options, here are a few benefits that I have found from the indie publishing or self-publishing world.
1. You set the timeline.Â
I love that I can sketch out an idea in my notebook and, within the year, there will be a final book in print to have, hold, and read aloud! Now, donât get me wrong, there are about 200 steps that happen between the notebook and the final product, but itâs on my own timeline. And with some determination, I can make it happen. My last book, âLetâs Meet on the Moonâ went from concept to final print in 8 months. And I couldnât be happier with how it turned out!
2. You choose your costs.
Every author needs a budget. As a self-published author, you do need to put in some up-front costs, which can be challenging. But you can also choose where and how to allocate those costs. For example, I chose not to hire an agent. And I was able to do a review swap with an editor, eliminating that initial expense. I researched the printer that is the best fit for my work and gives me a price point that allows me to make a profit on each sale. I can then re-purpose those funds into strategic marketing options that engage readers across the country. And all those choices allowed me to do $10,000 in sales during the first 3 months of my very first book launch.
3. If you are a childrenâs book author, you choose the illustrator.Â
When I was first researching publishing options, it became clear that, as a newer author, a traditional publisher would pair me with one of their own illustrators. That could have been a great option! But it was also clear that in the traditional setup, authors and illustrators work mostly independently, and there is not always an opportunity for true collaboration. I knew that I wanted to work with Emily Siwek, an amazing local illustrator. And so I got to make that decision and am happy that I did.Â
4. Good news!Â
As an indie author, you can still get your book into Barnes and Noble, go on a book tour, and have readers across the country fall in love with your work. It may just take a little more elbow grease on your part, but itâs definitely doable- and can be incredibly exciting!

Nothinâ Like You ~ Cale Makar
In honor of reaching over 200 followers, here is a song fic based on Dan and Shayâs Nothinâ Like You. I have a few requests in my inbox that I will be working on. If you have any, feel free to send them in using this prompt! Thank you for 200!!!
Master List
I remember when I first met you Sipping coffee in a corner booth You were twirling your hair And I just had to stare For a minute or two
Cale was with Tyson and J.T. after practice one Wednesday afternoon. The three of them decided to stop and get some coffee as it was a cold winter day outside. They were waiting in line talking about something E.J. had said earlier that day when Caleâs eyes landed on you in the back corner by a window. You had a cup of coffee and were staring at your laptop, completely oblivious to the world around you. He couldnât help but stare as you wound and un-wound a strand of hair around your finger, every so often stopping to type something. Tyson kept talking as J.T. realized their defenseman was completely distracted by something. Following his line of sight, he chuckled. âSee something you like? Or someone?â he chirped his teammate. Cale started to turn red as he looked away from you.
âI thought maybe I knew her,â he muttered. Tyson had stopped his monologue and was paying attention also now. He looked over as you had your head buried in a book, slowly typing something out.
âHow did she carry all those books?â he asked with a slight laugh. Cale had noticed the numerous books you had scattered around the table. Didnât people just do their research online now? âYou like studious girls Makar?â Tyson elbowed him.
I was laughing at your stack of books Then you shot me that smile Hey beautiful girl, in your own little world Let me in it
âMan shut up,â Cale said turning on his friend. Unknowingly to them though, you had actually heard all the commotion. It was why you enjoyed doing your research in coffee shops; the garbled noises made it easier for you to concentrate. This doesnât mean that you had heard what they said exactly, but who could really miss three hockey players walking into a small coffee shop in the middle of the week.
You looked up right as Cale was glancing back over at you. As you locked eyes, you sent him a shy smile and looked back down, trying to focus on your work again. Of course you knew who they were, all of Denver practically did. You were just an overstressed grad student with too many deadlines coming up though; he was probably just looking around the place.
The three of them ordered their coffees, and Cale noticed that you had looked sadly at your cup after taking a sip. He walked up to the counter and got the attention of the barista. âWhat did that girl in the corner order?â he asked, and was told it was a caramel latte. âIâll take one of those too,â Cale said, paying for a second coffee. J.T. gave Tyson a look before he could say anything as they watched Cale walk over to you with two coffee cups.
You got all of my attention And you ain't even trying Yeah, you're my kind of different And I never seen nothin'
Nothin' like you
âUm hi. I hope you donât mind, but I thought you could use this,â Cale said, announcing his presence at your table. You looked up, slightly startled as you had been engrossed in a thought you had while typing out your research. âDidnât mean to scare you,â he chuckled nervously.
âNo, youâre fine! Sorry, I had a train of thought going,â you sputtered out just as nervous as him. âThank you, thatâs very kind. What do I owe you?â you asked, instinctively reaching for your wallet. Cale shook his head.
âNothing,â he said, trying to think of what the guys on the team might say in this situation. âYour number maybe?â he made a face like he couldnât believe he just said that, and you couldnât help but giggle.
âUm, sure, yeah,â you squeaked out, writing your number on a piece of notebook paper and ripping it out to give to him. âIâm Y/N,â you introduced yourself.
âCale,â he said, taking the paper from you. He was about to ask what you were doing when Tyson called out to him.
âMakar, are you coming?â Cale turned toward his friends who had big, goofy grins on their faces watching the interaction. You blushed slightly at the thought of others watching you.
âIâm sorry. Iâll text you,â he stuttered out, putting your number into his pocket. You smiled softly at him and nodded.
âThanks for the coffee,â you said and he smiled at you.
âMy pleasure.â Â
Shades on spinning in a summer rain Dancing when there ainât no music Just the right kind of crazy, baby
Cale had texted you like he said he would that same evening. You honestly werenât expecting it, but felt completely giddy when you saw the unknown number and read his message. He explained that he would be gone on a road trip with the Avs for the next week, but would like to take you to dinner when he got back. You accepted and plans were made; the two of you talking regularly throughout the week getting to know each other better.
The Avs returned home on Thursday, and a few hours later Cale was at your apartment knocking on your door. He had brought you flowers and you couldnât help but smile at the kind gesture. The two of you made your way to dinner, talking the whole time. He had just finished telling you a funny story from the trip, beaming at the giggle he had enticed from you when your food arrived. As you looked down at your plate, you started moving your head and shoulders in an excited fashion. âAre you dancing?â Cale questioned you with a chuckle. You stopped immediately.
âOh my gosh, sorry. I tend to have a happy dance with food. Itâs a weird family thing. I donât even realize I do it until itâs pointed out to me,â you rambled on, face turning red. Cale shook his head.
âDonât be sorry. I though it was cute,â he said in a low tone. You smiled and giggled nervously; Cale deciding then and there that he wanted to continue seeing that smile for as long as you would let him. Â
Something about you Rocking that rock 'n roll t-shirt Whole party dressed up But you just doinâ your thing Ain't nobody ever seen nothin' like you
You were working on your research the following Friday night, having the game on in the background. Cale had taken you out to dinner once more since your first date, and the two of you had been nonstop texting. The Avs had won, Cale scoring that night. After the game you were about to text him a âcongratulationsâ when your phone started to ring, the caller ID showing it was him. âCongratulations!â you said as you answered and heard him chuckle on the other end of the line.
âThanks Y/N. Hey, what are you doing tonight?â he asked, and you heard a few wolf whistles behind him with muttered âshut upsâ coming from the defenseman.
âIâve just been working on my research since I got out of class earlier. Why?â you asked, trying not to laugh.
âCome out with us. Weâre all going out to celebrate,â he said in a more hushed tone, and you could imagine him trying to avoid the whole locker room from hearing.
âCale, I would love to but Iâm not dressed to go out,â you said.
âWho cares. Please? I would like you to come,â he pleaded with you ever so slightly. You looked down at your outfit, deciding it wouldnât take much to put on some jeans quickly. Your Red Hot Chili Peppers shirt didnât look terrible at least.
âText me the address,â you said into the phone, and you could hear the excitement in Caleâs voice as he said he would.
When you're wearing them worn out jeans Purple untied shoestrings You're a light in the dark And you're stealing my heart like a gypsy
Showing up to the bar, you became a little self-conscious. Maybe you should have changed? The second Cale spotted you though, he thought you were the most beautiful girl in the room. The front of your band tee was tucked into your ripped black jeans, your white converse showing years of wear as they were no longer exactly white and the shoelaces were frayed at the ends. Cale knew you were probably stressed with your research, and yet you still had the softest smile and a sparkle in your eyes when you found him in the crowd. âYou made it,â he whispered into your hair as he hugged you close. He felt you giggle into his chest.
âCouldnât let you down,â you answered simply. Cale smiled at you and took your hand, leading you over to a table where some of the team was sitting.
âCoffee shop girl!â A slightly tipsy Tyson shouted.
âOh my God,â Cale muttered as you giggled. You were introduced to everyone as you took a seat between Cale and someone he called Gravy.
âSo what is your research on?â Gabriel Landeskog asked when you said you were a grad student at the University of Denver.
âThe archaeology of Zoroastrianism,â you said, and caught many blank stares.
      âZoro what?â Andre asked.
âItâs an ancient Persian religion. Todayâs modern practices of Christianity, Islam, and Judaism all have common ties to it,â you briefly explained.
âWait, that was the religion Freddie Mercury practiced,â Sam Girard commented, looking interested. You nodded.
âThatâs how most people have heard of it now,â you responded.
âWhat is your research trying to say about it?â he asked.
âSo Iâm basically writing a big literature review to make sure it is preserved in the archaeological record. It was the first dualistic religion in a time where civilizations had their pantheons to believe in. It spread with the Persian conquest, but no one they conquered was ever forced to convert to it. Now itâs a rare religion to come across, and their numbers keep getting smaller. With it being one of the oldest organized religions, it needs to be preserved and the traditions documented before we lose it all through modernization attempts.â To you, your explanation was simple and one that you had said many times whenever asked what you were studying. It seemed you had impressed the table though, and you slightly blushed as a few questions started flying your way. You didnât notice Cale softly smiling at you while you talked about a topic that you loved so much; he couldnât take his eyes off of you. His teammates noticed though, and boy were they going to give it to him at practice.  Â
I love the way that you kiss me In front of everybody So baby come and kiss me They ain't ever seen nothin'
Nothin' like you
The following day at practice, the guys were giving Cale crap for how head over heels he seemed for you. The fact he hadnât kissed you yet was another source of ridicule. Everyone who had met you ended up adoring you within the time span that you spent with them at the bar; and they could easily see that their defenseman was taken by you as his cheeks would turn red at the mention of your name. They were all happy for him, but that didnât mean the chirping would stop.
They had another home game to play the following day, and Gabe convinced Cale to invite you and have you sit with Mel and Linnea. Later that day Cale went to your apartment and handed you his jersey, asking you to be there for the game. You couldnât say no to him, not that you wanted to anyways. That Sunday you put on the jersey and headed to the stadium. Meeting Mel at the front, you quickly got along and enjoyed the game. The Avs came out victorious again, and you followed the captainâs wife to the locker rooms. You stepped aside as Gabe made his way over to his wife, feeling a little out of place. Luckily for you, Cale wasnât far behind.
He didnât know if it was from the guys comments or seeing you in his jersey, but one second he was smiling widely at you, then the next his lips were on yours and his hands on your waist. Without a second thought, you kissed him back, your hands holding his face to yours. You were both grinning ear to ear as you separated, chirps flying all around but all in good nature. Giggling, you hid your face in Caleâs chest as his face turned bright red.
Shades on spinning in a summer rain Dancing when there ainât no music Just the right kind of crazy, baby Something about you Rocking that rock 'n roll t-shirt Whole party dressed up But you just doing your thing Ain't nobody ever seen nothin' like you, yeah
A year had passed and you were at the end of your grad program. You were set to present your research at the graduate fair, having been selected to present your research on behalf of your department. The Avs were scheduled to be flying back home that day, but Cale wasnât sure if he would be there in time to see you present. You told him that it was fine, that you understood; and you really did. He was hell bent on making it though. You werenât that surprised when you saw Cale sneaking into the back of the auditorium. What did surprise you was that half the team had followed him in. Having become good friends with them, they wanted to be there to support you too. As your name was announced, you swear you had the loudest applause.
You calmly presented your research, smiling at Cale when you finished and a few questions were thrown your way. Having worked so hard, the questions were simple to answer. Finding Cale afterward, he took your poster from you and the two of you made your way to his apartment so he could unpack from the trip. Changing into some leggings and one of his shirts, you showed him the bound copy of your 105 page thesis. He was so proud of you and couldnât help but share the cover on his Insta story. The two of you cuddle and slept better that night then you had in a while. For him it was being back home with you, and you finally had the stress of your research gone since the first time you met him. Â
Nothin' like you Shades on spinning in a summer rain Dancing in the rain no music Nothin' like you Rocking that rock 'n roll t-shirt Whole party dressed up But you just doing your thing Ain't nobody ever seen nothin' like you, yeah
Once you graduated, Cale asked you to move in with him. You had secured a job at a museum as a curator in their Antient History section. Setting up an exhibit all morning, you met up with Cale at the same coffee shop you had met at two years prior later that day. âSorry Iâm lateâ you muttered to Cale as you found him. He smiled and gave you a quick kiss.
âYou have nothing to be sorry about. I already put your order in,â he said as you sat across from him, taking a sip of the coffee he got you.
âYou know me so well,â you hummed with a giggle, the caramel latte tasting sweet. Cale grinned at you.
âTechnically, your coffee order was the first thing I learned about you, so I better get that right,â he chuckled. âThat and you seemed like a huge nerd.â You faked offense, but laughed anyway.
âIt was all those books that got you. I knew my tactic of sitting in a coffee shop would work for me one day,â you winked at him.
âIt did. Iâd never seen nothing like you,â he grinned, reaching into his pocket to take out a small velvet jewelry box.
Never seen, never seen nothin' like you Ain't never seen anything like you Mmm Never seen nothin' like you

She Who Walks the Line Between Part 4
Maul x GreyJedi!Reader
Word Count: 3103
WARNINGS: Child abuse, night terrors, fluff
PREVIOUS Â Â Â Â NEXT Â Â Â Â Â MASTERLIST
Six weeks had passed since your ship went down and Maul 'rescued' you. Thanking him with a kiss to his cheek that neither of you mentioned after that night. Since he was rebuilding muscle that used to be there rather than starting from scratch, he built himself back up fairly quickly. Especially because you were constantly nagging at him to eat if he didnât take the initiative to do it himself at least three times a day. His face was fuller and his arms and chest much more prominent under his trademark deep v tunics. His thighs were also thickening up quite nicely you thought often to yourself. His eyes still glowed gold but it was a honeyed glow like a sunset, so much softer than they once were. No longer bloodshot and raging.
Some days he would push his progress much too far and require soaking in an unbelievably hot bath. You wouldâve been almost frightened if he hadnât told you his core temperature was much higher than yours. You always offered massages to which he would try to turn down but you never really let him refuse. You could tell he wanted them. His entire demeanor would change if you only brushed against him let alone actually dedicated time to rubbing the strain from his muscles. Whatever horrors he dealt with as apprentice to a Sith Lord he had no comfort to turn to before, that much was apparent. Followed by a decade of forced solitude, you always made him melt with ease.
He was a worthy sparring partner to say the least. Despite having new legs, he was incredibly nimble. His muscle memory was powerful at worst, awe striking at best, but he was still easily flustered which was his downfall. Every. Single. Time. Just recently you dodged a swing of his crimson Saber by dropping into a split and throwing your head backwards. The sight of it caused him to lose his footing. One of the goats bleated at him like she was laughing which of course sent you into a giggle fit of your own as you stood back up to your feet clutching your sides.
Today you two would be doing something different though, assuming he would accompany you, which was a safe assumption. The two of you sat at your small table by the kitchen drinking caf, Maul was eating waffles you had freshly cooked while you flipped through an encyclopedia you yourself had written on the planet.
"What are you looking for?" He asked, trying to see what you were reading from the other side of the table.
Leaning back in your chair you took a long drink of your caf, finishing the mug with a sigh. "Well, there's a particular ocean species that lives here that migrate through this side of the planet once every few years. If I remember right, because I can't find my notes..." You stood and walked to refill your cup. "If I remember correctly, they should be passing right by us today or tomorrow or⌠sometime soon. Honestly I donât know why I write anything down if I canât look back on it when I need it.â
Maul suppressed a smirk. He had come to realize that with all your brilliance and various talents you could be unorganized and forgetful. Just the other day he caught you frantically looking for a seventh goat, having to remind you that you only had six. Six goats, seven chickens, one rooster.
Still wearing your dangerously short sleeping shorts and with your back to him, Maul had a moment to admire your legs without threat of you noticing. "What creature is it?" He asked while eyeing a scar on your inner thigh he hadn't noticed before following the curve of your backside.
"Well, they don't have a name, from what I know anyway but they look a lot like the Purgill that live in space. Not nearly as big cause, you know, space is a lot bigger than the ocean here." You stirred cream into your brew and sat back down crossing your legs.
Now he leaned back in his chair, shoulders shaking lightly with a silent chuckle, âyou know I did know space was bigger than the ocean here.â
You playfully pointed your spoon at him in a mock warning before smiling and continuing.
"I'm gonna go down to the beach and see if I can find them. They're one of my favorites on this planet. We're nearing the mating and migration time of a few species actually so wildlife is gonna be more apparent around here."
"I'll have to flip through that book of yours and study up." He smiled at you.
"Well you're lucky you have someone like me who knows this planet pretty damn well. Even if I canât find my notes." You flashed him a returning smile and stood. Your hand ran over his scalp affectionately as you made your way to your room to get dressed for your adventure.
 ~~~~~
   Maker, did she realize exactly what she did to him he wondered. He swore he could still feel her touch after she had left. He was indeed lucky to have her, not just for her knowledge of this strange world. A now familiar knot grew in his belly once again, the same one that never failed to show up when she touched him. He wasn't sure what it was.
  He stood and cleared the table, washing the dishes from their breakfast in the sink. The first time he did this she had actually flustered almost embarrassed 'thank yous' saying she had meant to do them herself. Since that moment he made it his job. After all she did everything else for him. He ran fingers over his hearts down to his belly and gripped where the invisible knot formed. Most of her books were educational, breeching just about every topic at least fundamentally. She did however have a small collection of fiction. One of which he had read that held a romantic theme. Was this what love felt like? Happiness? Is this what Lord Sidious had kept from him his entire life? Or was it simply admiration?
  Not ever having felt anything like it before he couldn't say but one thing he did know for a fact. He hoped against all hope that in a way he'd never 'fully recover' fearing once the scale she talked about was perfectly balanced again she'd send him away and continue her life of solitude. She had sought this out. She had chosen this life. This planet, purposefully unpopulated with sentient life. As far as he knew and saw she was the only person here.
  His brows furrowed and as if she could sense his distraught increasing, he heard her call to him. "Darling," she mewled just loud enough for him to hear. Possibly too quick he made his way to the door of the fresher where he heard the water running. Darling he thought, he had never heard her call him that before, he was sure.
"Thereâs a pack hanging from the door, could you fill it with snacks for us? It'll probably be a while on the cliffs." He silently carried out her will, obsessing over the name she had called out from the shower. Thoughts of her naked body dripping with warm water, calling out to him filled his mind. He had to physically shake his head to focus. Just as he finished packing the last Meiloorun she entered the room wearing her usual training garb, barefooted as usual when she dressed in it.
  He watched as she added her encyclopedia and another small notebook to the pack along with a pair of electrobinoculars and a blanket. Swinging it over her shoulder she beamed at him obviously excited to see this strange creature.
  Once they were out the door she started sprinting calling out "race you!" Maul smiled and gave her a few more seconds head start greedily watching how her body moved so gracefully before taking off after her. Allowing himself to fall into the role of a hunter once again. This however being the only prey he ever really wanted to catch. This was his element. This is where he was most comfortable, chasing, hunting. His legs propelled him forward while his arms pumped at his sides, feeling the wind push him onward towards his goal. It was a long race but her speed never let up, she was incredibly fast but not so fast that she could escape him. Just before she reached the cliff's edge preparing to jump, he darted in front of her and caught her in his arms, spinning from the velocity alone. His arms latched tightly around her waist and hers wrapped around his neck pulling his face to that sweet spot just below her ear.
  They sat like that for what felt like only a second but also an eternity before a shaking hum rang through the air. Remembering what she had come for she pulled away excitedly.
"I thought we would be early but maker we made it just in time!" He released her and she jumped off the cliff, falling 200 feet before using the force to slow her fall lowering her safely to the sand below. Maul followed suit and met her where she stood, her toes wet with the tide rolling in over the sand before pulling back out to sea. Salt was heavy in the air but he could still smell her. Making her way back to the rock and clay cliffs she laid out the blanket and took a seat, spreading out her books and setting the food to the side. He joined her, sitting where he hoped wouldn't be too close.
  Before his mind could roam too far, she gasped and pointed to the sea clutching his arm in excitement. Breaching out of the depths a giant creature almost took flight but just for a moment, calling out in a singing hum. They had massive heads and rounded teeth with four tentacles that trailed behind them. They were all painted in the same deep blue but had uniquely shaped and colored markings. Unlike their space brethren they didn't have bioluminescent streaks on the inside of their tentacles.
  Maul watched in amazement as the creatures sang to one another, jumping and diving back down below like they were dancing for Y/N and his eyes alone. Looking through her electrobinoculars with one hand and sketching furiously with the other in the smaller of the two notebooks, never taking her eyes off of the Sea Purgill, she was entranced.
 "Have you ever seen such a beautiful, mysterious creature," she inquired utterly enthralled.
  Now he was watching her, smile plastered on her face, cheeks rosy with excitement and salt flecks sticking to her hair. "I can honestly say no, I have not in all my life witnessed such a beauty." She closed her notebook and put away the electrobinoculars, pivoting her head to look into his eyes again; softer than she had ever seen them.
  She scooted closer to him so their hips touched and leaned her head against his shoulder. Cautiously, he snaked his arm around her waist, pulling her closer and rested his cheek on the top of her head. Together they sat like this for hours, not moving, not speaking, simply watching the mighty creatures frolic through the waves on ahead.
~~~~~
You didn't want to move from this spot. He hadn't touched you since he pulled you from your crashed shuttle yet you found every excuse to make fleeting contact with him. Now, with his strong arm wrapped around you, hand gripping your waist, your head nestled into his chest you could hear his tandem hearts beating. Beating hard, it both soothed and excited you. Falling for this tattooed warrior was not on your original agenda. Falling for anyone at all was never something you craved or saw yourself doing. Not because of the same reasoning as the Jedi you had tutored under. No, you didnât fear attachment. It had always just looked like a distraction or a nuisance.
Yet you found yourself falling for him nonetheless. Selfishly you had hoped that the scales would never again be balanced because once they do, once he is completely and utterly healed... he would leave. Wouldn't he? Why would he want to stay here on this unpopulated world with you and you alone? He had been forced into his solitude while you had searched for yours. You no longer craved silence; no longer did you wish for the seclusion of this lovely planet. All you wanted was to listen to the velvety melody of his voice, to feel the almost impossible heat he radiated.
If you asked him to stay, would he? If he would ask you to leave with him, would you? You didnât think you could leave. Not with the war raging across the galaxy. This was the only place where you couldnât hear every scream of every person torn from life by mindless violence that wasnât supposed to happen in the first place. Feel every tear through the fabric of the force every time a Jedi either fell to the dark side or was killed. You canât leave, and if you canât leave for him; how could you ask him to stay for you?
The sun was starting to set and the creatures' appearances became less frequent. A realization dawned on you. Sensing your change Maul lifted his head to look at you, brows furrowed.
"The night of every migration a storm follows these beings. We should head back, whether it's rain or snow or wind it will be brought down on us soon." You watched him stand and extend a hand to you, taking it, he pulled you into a tight embrace. Both arms around you securely he whispered a thank you, lips just brushing against your ear. You didn't ask him what he was thanking you for, simply returning the hug with an equal fervor.
The two of you quickly packed up, leaping up the cliffs and making your way back home. Just as the cottage was in your eyeline the dark sky opened. Temperatures plummeting, snow fell from the heavens with a savage determination. Running now, you locked your animals in the barn and cranked up the heat. Power was hard to come by here with only the infrastructure that you had installed yourself, allowing only one heater for your homestead. Giving it to the animals was an easy decision.
Maul took your hand and ushered you inside, 6 inches had already stuck to the ground and your exposed skin was cold to the touch. Your bare feet no exception. He lit the hearth himself to take the chill off the room and wrapped you in a warm blanket. Before you could even think to ask, he brought you a hot cup of your favorite tea. He glowered over the fact that you still shivered.
He took your blanket and gathered you up into his arms, draping the blanket around the both of you. Holding your freezing feet in his hand. The heat he put off was almost burning against your form but you were more than grateful, sinking into him. You both fell asleep in each otherâs arms but the dreams you had that night weren't your own.
A darkly hooded figure stood tall above a scarlet whimpering child. Tears streaked the red and black face of the young boy until the figure spoke. "Did I say you could eat yet?" He asked calmly but with venom in his tone. "N-no master I'm sorry I'm just... so hungr..." the boy was cut off when bolts of electricity shot out of his master and punished the boy. He screamed in agony, his cells burning. "YOU WILL NOT TAKE FROM ME APPRENTICE!" eating in front of the starving boy he screamed and continued to shock him. "YOU WILL KILL AND EAT WHAT YOU ARE HUNGRY FOR!" The boy still screaming managed to reply. "Yes master... I'm sorry master... Forgive me... PLEASE." He begged. He was attacked until his body started smoking "WHAT ARE YOU!" His master demanded as he finally released the child. The boy's claws dug into his forehead until he bled, sobbing. "I said WHAT ARE YOU?" his master demanded, shocking him again.
"I AM HUNTER... I AM FEAR... I AM FILTH... I AM NOTHING!" Screaming in torment he fell over, silent. He was tossed out carelessly onto a burning terrain surrounded by fiery pits of lava.
You awoke first, tears falling from your own eyes and you looked upon the man that lay next to you. He was still asleep but he was shaking, whining, nails digging into his own arms. You took his wrists and begged him to wake up.
"Maul... Maul darling please wake up!"
His eyes shot open blown out in fear and snarling, sitting up ready to kill until he focused on you. You softly pushed him down on the couch so he rested on his back. You leaned over him, wrapping your legs around his waist and running your hands soothingly over his body. Peppering his face in kisses whispering "you are safe... you are cared for... you are my joy... you are cleansed... you are everything." Tears welled in his eyes threatening to spill over. He gripped you with bruising fingers as if you would disappear should he let go. "I have you... you're with me... he can't find you here.." you continued to sooth him between tender kisses.
He looked up at you with those shimmering gold eyes, one hand entangling in your hair, he pulled your lips onto his with a desperation. He needed proof that he was in fact awake and not in a different dream. You brushed one of your hands against his cheek and gripped the back of his head, horns between your fingers and deepened the kiss. He slightly opened his mouth in a pleasured moan; eyes rolling back. Taking it as an invitation you glided your tongue over his teeth and against the tip of his tongue which he immediately responded but not the way you expected. He broke the kiss and pulled your body even closer to his as if to turn the two of you into one. For the rest of the night, you held one another, he had never been so thankful for his night terrors.

Set Up My Heart Pt. 7
PT. 6 â PT. 7 â PT. 8
College volleyball player!Johnny Suh x reader
Rivals-to-lovers
Fluff and angst
Synopsis: Ever since that fateful day Sophomore year of high school, Johnny Suh had been an insufferable thorn in your side. Once you made it to college you thought the two of you would never have to see each other again. That is, until a sudden school transfer has the entire university buzzing
~~
Your breath caught as you pounded up the steps. The door slammed as you raced into the building and down the hall to your Chemistry lecture. You were very late. Maybe the professor wonât notice. With nearly 200 students crammed into a classroom, itâs a big class. You had stayed up late the night before cramming for a Finance exam you had later today. That means that you slept through your alarm and it wasnât until Des was leaving for her class that you woke up.
You glanced around the classroom when your eyes settled on a recently familiar seat. Shimmying down the aisle you stepped up to a seat with a backpack sitting in it. The owner of the backpack looked up, âHey, I wasnât sure you were going to make it,â Taeil tucked his backpack under his seat.
âSlept through my alarm,â you grumbled as you pulled your notes and a pen out.
Taeil gave a sympathetic head shake but turned back to the professor. You had been surprised when you found out that Taeil was taking this class. The senior had told you the previous week that it was because he had pushed it off until his final year. He claimed he was fighting the system that told him that a science class was required for his music degree. âI get itâs a bachelorâs of science, but how is Chemistry going to make me a better musician?â
You couldnât give him an answer, but then again you are a history major. How does it tie into yours? You glanced beside Taeil looking for Jungwooâs unmistakable blonde hair. âItâs Wednesday,â Taeil muttered.
You lean back in your chair. Thatâs right mister mechanical engineering wasnât actually a student in this class he only came in on Tuesdays and Fridays to make notes for students he tutors.
Taeil tapped your desk making you sit forward and stop pouting. âFocus so you know what you need to go over with Jungwoo tonight."
You pick up your pen and attempt to follow along with the professor. She was going too fast and instead of understanding what she was saying you sat there just trying to write down the calorimetry problems.
When the class ended you threw down your pen. Taeil reached over to pat your hand. "Rough morning?â
âUnderstatement of the century,â you shove your pen in your pencil case. âWoke up too late and I have no idea whatâs going on in class. Plus I have a finance exam later today that Iâm still not entirely ready for.â
âWell would coffee or lunch make you feel better, I have two hours before my next class. Or we could go to the library or a study lounge and we could try to get you feeling more confident?â Taeil waited for you to stand up from your seat. He watched as the next class started to trickle in.
You step out of the aisle and up to the classroom door, âWhat about both, we can grab something from the union and study there?â
Taeil grins, âThat sounds great. Youâre paying though.â You give a light shove as you both race out of the building. For a moment, you felt yourself relaxed as you chased Taeil through the quad.
âWatch where youâre going,â you heard a voice yell out panic laced through it. You glanced back at the voice coming from behind you before slamming into something hard. You felt your elbow catch as you tumbled to the ground.
You heard another voice grumble, âDammit, how hard is it to pay attention to where youâre going. I have an expensive camera- of course.â An unmistakable voice scoffed, âAre you trying to cause problems, Y/n?â Johnny glowered as you turned to glare back. You hadnât seen him in almost a week. You couldnât say he was looking great. His eyes had bags and his hair was slightly greasy.
âAre you guys okay,â a taller male with pink hair skidded to a stop in front of you two.
Johnny brushed off his jeans, âNo thanks to her.â He jerked his head toward you.
âLook here mister, I donât know why you feel like you have to-â you were cut off as Taeil rushed into your eyesight.
âY/n! Iâm so sorry I didnât realize that I had left you behind,â he grabbed your hands and pulled you up. You brushed off your shoulders as Taeil fretted over your state, âWhat happened? You were beside me just a minute ago?"
You nod to the two standing behind him, "I accidentally ran into Johnny."
Taeil glanced behind him and smiled when he caught eyes with the second man, "Hey, Taeyong, howâs it going?â You watched as the two exchanged pleasantries. Johnny shifted looking back down at his camera pushing several buttons before sighing. âWe were just about to grab lunch at the union. You should come with us!â You watched as Johnnyâs shoulders bunched up tight.
âSure! Johnny and I were just finishing up here, so we could definitely join you,â Taeyong grabbed a bag that sat on a nearby bench. âCome on, Johnny!"
Johnny looked like he was going to protest. Taeyong grabbed the camera from Johnnyâs neck and put it in the bag. Johnny sighed obviously not able to get out of this.
Taeyong grabbed a hold of Taeilâs arm before dragging him towards the union, "So you know I was thinking,â you heard Taeyong start talking about a piece of music with Taeil.
Johnny stepped up next to you, âLook,â he ran a hand through his hair, his face pinched. âI just wanted to say.â
âIâm not happy about this either so why donât we just get this over with so we both can be on our merry way,â you snapped.
Johnnyâs face morphed his eyes narrowed and his lips tightened, âGlad weâre on the same page.â He turned away from you and you finished your journey in silence.
~~
âWeâre really happy with the track you made for us,â Taeyong smiled at Taeil from across the table. âSeriously I could never thank you enough."
Taeil waved him off, "Iâm using it for my composition class. Iâm just glad you guys are able to use it."
You turned to the book you had laid out on the table in from of you. The notebook sitting on top of it showing recent notes you had taken. You clicked your pen as you attempted to solve a math equation. The paper crinkled as you scribbled across it.
"You have to make sure you add in the overhead cost,â your head snapped up to Johnny who had sat across from you. âThen you can take it from annual costs. Youâve got the rest of it right."
You frowned at him before writing down what he said, "Itâs correct.â You stared at him wide eyed.
âWoah, Johnny knows finance,â Taeil and Taeyong turned from their conversation to you two. âI didnât think you were in Finance though?â Taeyong eyebrows pinched together.
Johnny shook his head, his dark hair flying in all different directions, âI was. I took a couple of business classes before switching to journalism. Finance just happened to be one.â Johnny turned back to you slightly, âJust thought Iâd try to be some help. You seemed like you were struggling with that problem."
You wanted to glare at him. To tell him that you donât need any help, especially not his. Who was he to decide that you needed help. Even if he did get you to the right answer he didnât need to step in. He never had before. You gave him a tense smile, "Thank you, I have an exam today that Iâm cramming for."
Johnny smiled back. His less tense and closer to genuine, "No problem, let me know if I can try to help you with something else."
You gave him a slight nod as you went back to your work. "So is that why you transferred here? I didnât think NCUâs journalism program was that good. Actually, isnât SMUâs the top program in the region.â Taeyong dipped a french fry in ketchup.
Johnny shrugged as he played with the food still on his plate, âI had no choice, well thatâs not completely true, but on a sports team when a player gets injured they become a money hole. It was either stay at SMU and be off the volleyball team or go through PT, transfer, and maybe have a chance of playing again. NCU was just one of the universities that was willing to put me on the roster."
You kept your head ducked as you listened to their conversation. Taeyong had leaned forward, his head now sitting on the table, "So, why NCU? I mean you said this was just one of the options.â
Johnny nodded, âYeah, it was between here, UofE, and RCU. A guy I knew at SMU said he had a friend that goes here and got me hooked up with him. Just so happens that guy,Jaehyun, was looking for another roommate. Plus, NCU doesnât have an awful journalism program so I ended up here. To be honest, I like it here much more than SMU."
Taeil nudged your elbow catching your attention. You hummed as you resumed your studying, "You doing okay there?â He peered over you shoulder attempting to read your handwriting.
âYeah, I think that I should do fine,â you grinned lightly. âI think I was more stressed out about it than I should have been."
He nodded at you before turning back to Johnny, âSo youâre here. Now how do you know Taeyong?â
âWe met in a photography class! I need it for my electives and Johnnyâs specialization is photojournalism,â Taeyong perked up. âWe sat by each other Johnnyâs first day.â That intrigued you. A memory of Johnny standing in front of you camera flashing and pencil scratching danced around your head.
Johnny hummed as he pushed buttons on his camera, âWe have an assignment for still life photography and I asked Tae if he could be my model.â
âYou liked photography in High School also,â you hadnât meant to say that out loud, but you had watched as Johnny lit up with talking about his class. The stares that the table gave you told you that you shouldnât have said that. âAlthough, your skills as a journalist were shit.â You pulled your backpack from under the table. The book you had open slid closed and into the waiting bag as you panicked. You shouldnât have said anything.
Johnny fixed you with a look that begged for understanding, âYou know that we had a lot of restrictions on what we could write and publish. It all went through the teacher and principals.â
âThat didnât stop you from publishing that article about me now did it,â you hissed. The chair scraped the ground as you stood up. âI bet you loved getting to destroy my name. âVolleyball Prodigy Turns Out to be a Fraudâ. First article on the sports page.â
Johnny stood up across from you, âY/n I did not have any-â
âYou were the one that interviewed me and used that in the article. Were you not?â You held up a hand to stop him from coming around the table. Johnny opened his mouth to speak, âI donât want to hear it. You used my pain for your own personal gain. You donât get to say anything.â You glance up at the ceiling urging the stinging in your eyes to go away. âTaeil, Taeyong thank you for lunch. Weâll have to do this again.â You turned and fled from the table. You had to stop letting him get to you.
Johnny sat heavily on his chair. He ran his hands down his face as he tried to compose yourself. Taeil and Taeyong glared at him from their seats. âI guess I should explain to you how Y/n and I know each other.â Taeil raised an eyebrow at him, âIt started in Y/n and my sophomore year of high school.â
