Potentially hot take but I don't think I'll ever understand the social media trend of americans equating "But I hate both candidates" to living under authoritarianism or being disenfranchised when people that have been disenfranchised by the US or an authoritarian government exist and also have access to social media. my main confusion with whether or not they'd hard launch / explicitly show more of their relationship is like... if they do a tour i can somehow imagine that being less of a part of it, but also their tour would probably be their last ever (and 3 is a good number). and i can see them wanting to hard launch after, not before, a world tour. that being said i think a documentary would more easily involve that because they'd undeniably talk about the behind the scenes / coming out experience of them as youtubers and if it's like a piece of their career and legacy together that hits mainstream i can imagine kinda autobiographically that's something they'd mention. so documentary feels like way more likely odds of being more explicit than a tour, but i can't tell if they're doing a documentary and then a tour in which case i don't think the doc will have anything like this at all. does that make sense?

my favourite thing about the press and promotion for the new doctor who and it's rebrand as a "whole new series" is how rtd is subtley yet consistently dissing the chibnall era just a little bit. Like "i think it's time for a refresh... a new start for the show... time to re-assess... we had a lot of the master recently let's put him on the backburner... let's go back to the show's roots... let's have some fun with it to do something we've not seen before..." it's so indirect and polite but it's also like whoaaah we need to course-correct after how that ended. and also maybe continue to ignore all that new lore they introduced with the Flux???

As a Black person who's been in nerd spaces for almost 2 decades now, the whole "I've never seen fandom be so negative before!" is starting to get on my nerves. Its always been this way, it's just that now you're on the other side of it or you can't ignore it anymore.

I was there when ff.net writers tried to run Black fic writers off of those C3 communities back in the day. I was there in the Gaia Online days of "I don't accept characters played by people with dark skinned avatars", being proudly displayed on Barton Town threads. I was also there when congoers complained about Black people "ghetto-fying" con spaces. I had to delete my old blog after being branded the "Sally Donovan of the Sherlock Fandom" .

Yes, getting dogpiled and hated on because of some kid's false moral outrage can be super disheartening. Yeah, the community is much bigger and chaotic than we could have ever imagined. YES, social media and the general state of the world is affecting how we cope with things mentally and we should all strive to be kinder to each other.

But some of y'all are STRAIGHT UP LYING about how internet fandom used to be and how much you participated in it. Your old forum account with your "anti-yaoi" sticker and banner signature are still out there, you know. Some of you here STILL use the same names you did 20 years later and you're just as guilty as the kids you complain about now. IF NOT MORE.
