FULL FEM FORTRESS LINE UP

i finally FINALLY finished this lineup. those fuckers are in my head more that they should be. after writing my ideas for them i HAD TO DRAW THEM, i had such a clear image in my mind. the only one I've drawn before where engie, medic, sniper and scout, but those were just sketches.

i always like the sketches more but i love the clear lineart, it makes the character more readable, so now it's time for some design thoughts:
engie - she was the first, she has seen everythin- no ok wrong franchise. i meant, she was the one i was more certain of. the outfit didn't change from the og but i made her have two small pigtails. i always viewed them as a cow girl hairstyle, and they're also practical. a stable hairstyle that keeps your hair out of your face.
heavy - the sleaves where kinda an instant idea i KNEW i had to incorporate. so i did a bit of reaserch on traditional russian clothes and their patterns. they seems to be very geometrical with not more than 5 colors, which two of them are white and black, usually at the seams or borders of the clothing. so i tried to do that. i really like how it came out.
demo - not much to say aside from me winging the hairstyle. i honestly didn't know which one to give to her, but i knew i didn't want a long hair style. maybe one day i'll draw her without the hat.
scout - she is the one with my favorite design. i LOVE how it came out. i fell it express her cockiness the best. i tried putting her in the og outift but eh, i prefer this one.
soldier - this is literally just normal soldier. i tried to but more "femminine" traits in her face. but still, just soldier with boobs.
pyro - it's normal pyro, with some stickers cause why not.
medic - she's my love. my beauty, the absolute perfection. i love her and every time i draw her she becomes more and more creepy. and i love her so much. at first i was unsure about the hairstyle, i tried to but her in a high bun but it didn't fit the face shape, so i just gave her a side swoosh. also you may have noticed she has the nurse hat, well, that's just because i think it's cute, and i mean, she is a field doctor and usually the women there where red crosses so, made sense to me.
sniper - ah, my beautiful, unkept woman. i had a hard time making her face look rugged without giving her 30 years more and doing that on women is actually pretty difficult. i had one time an art teacher saying to me "every line on a woman's face gives her 10 years more" and holy fuck if that's true. the second problem was the body type. a lot of people do her slim, and at first i drew her like so, but i found myself appreciating a bigger waist line, creating a sort of square siluette.
spy - finally the beautiful femme fatale. i will ALWAYS have problems with spy's suit color. i can't. it always feels so wrong aaaa. but that aside, i did a simple google search for 60s women's suit and i kinda went with it. it's a bit different from the og spy suit but it's also different from modern suits, so i had a bit of an hard time adjusting the jacket.

rambling about taylor swift 🤪lol
i know people would probably call me fake or a bandwagoner or whatever lol but i actually think my relationship w taylor's music over the years is cool and it makes me a little emo to think about tbh haha. i was a big fan during the fearless/speak now era when i was in my early/mid teens. then my music taste kind of developed in a bit of a different direction and by the time red dropped (when i was a senior in hs i think) i wasn't as interested and actually never got into that album and wasn't even familiar with the songs other than the most famous ones.
1989 dropped when i was in my sophomore year of college and i had a brief resurgence of interest because it was a great album but i was really just listening like casually and didn't get to know it that well other than the most popular songs. reputation came out after i graduated and i wasn't a fan of the vibes at all so i was like :/ guess i'm officially done with ts? her music and image seemed to be going in a very different direction than i was. as is true for most people haha my music taste had changed a lot between my early teen years and my 20s and altho i enjoy various things, my main vibe is like folk pop/acoustic indie i guess? so when lover dropped i listened to the entire album that night and enjoyed it, but i wasn't super attached.
fast forward a bit. im listening to some acoustic vibes playlist on spotify and there's this song i really like. i look at it and do a double-take bc it's taylor swift?? i had been like vaguely aware that she'd dropped an album during the pandemic (maybe 2? this may even have been after evermore idr haha) but i hadn't listened to it. so i checked it out and i was like. holy cow. this is my EXACT vibe. i love every song. this aligns with my music taste perfectly. same with evermore. i got excited because i did not expect to be a taylor swift fan in 2021. her earlier stuff would always be nostalgic to me, her middle stuff would be decent (of what i'd heard of it at that point), but now i was excited about her music again. because somehow, after all this time, our tastes had aligned again.
i listened to folkmore and evermore on repeat. all day at work. in the shower. while i did the dishes. while i drew. when fearless (taylor's version) dropped, i was kind of iffy because i didn't really see the point of it or understand the hype since we had the originals already and it seemed kind of money-grabby to me. but i had some close friends (anna and abby!) who were very enthusiastic about it and they explained the purpose of her taking ownership of her earlier music. so i listened to the album—and i was surprised by how emotional i got!!!! because these were all the songs i had loved so much when i was younger, but now they were a little more mature sounding, and i felt like i was revisiting and honoring my past the same way taylor was. i fell in love with it all over again and that made me want to familiarize myself with the albums i'd kind of missed. and i fell in love with those too. reputation still isn't my vibe as much as the others but it has some gems i really like. and now i adore lover and red and listen to them all. i was thinking about it recently and decided that after folklore and evermore, red is my favorite album. so im so happy that we have taylor's version of it now!! all these beautiful songs remade!! 10 MINUTE ALL TOO WELL ARE YOU KIDDING!! and all these other new songs aaaaaaa im in love i love this album. and all of her albums. after a whole decade, taylor swift is again one of my favorite and most listened to artists.
idk when i think about the whole thing it makes me a little emotional because i was like an OG taylor fan but then my music taste changed and so did hers, in a different direction from mine, but eventually they converged again, just in time for me to return to my Roots with fearless and then rediscover what i'd missed and fall in love with all of it both for the first and second time simultaneously. idk, im turning 27 soon and it just makes me think about growing up and getting older and at the same time remembering the good things about your younger years and recapturing the nostalgia while still looking forward. it makes me feel hopeful. like there are good things behind me mixed in with the not-so-good things, and the same is true of what's to come. maybe im just someone who's always late to the party lol but it's been special for me find all of these things that spark joy for me this year. and since im ML trash lol all of this intricately tied to that. i got into ML right after lover dropped, and when i got into taylor again i of course applied the love square to every song lol and now i've been hugely inspired creatively by taylor's music in my fanwork as well as just in general. idk it's just special to me to enjoy things and feel things and feel connected to other people through them! i am grateful for taylor and ml and annascribbles and abby (sha-nwa) for getting me back into taylor and also just being wonderful people! heart is v full tonight and im literally just rambling about personal stuff that no one will read but idc bc what else is a blog for!!! lol

So, I don't think I've ever asked you this... what IS the whole point of the Spider-Sense? It really seems like something that only exists for writers to ignore or work around when they want to inject Legit Tension into a story.
I’ve thought about this power so much, but never with an eye to defend its right to exist, so I needed to think about this. The results could be more concise.
Ironically, given the question, I have to say its main purpose is to ramp up tension. But it’s also a highly variable multitool that a skilled creative team can use for...pretty much anything. It does everything the writer wants it to, while for its wielder always falls just short of doing enough.

I went looking through my photos for a really generic, classic-looking example to use as an image to head this topic, but then I ran into the time Peter absolutely did not reimburse this man for his stolen McDonald’s, so have that instead.
A Scare Chord, But You Can Draw It
That one post that says the spider-sense is just super-anxiety isn’t, like, wrong. It’s a very anxious, dramatic storytelling tool originally designed for a very anxious, dramatic protagonist. I find it speaks to the overall tone of the franchise that some characters are functionally psychics, but with a psychic ability that only points out problems.
Spidey sense pinging? There’s danger, be stressed! Broken? Now the lead won’t even KNOW when there’s a problem, scary! Single character is immune to it? That’s an invisible knife in the dark oh my god what the fuck what the fU--
Like its counterpart in garden variety anxiety, the only time the spider-sense reduces tension is in the middle of a crisis. But in the wish fulfillmenty way that you want in an adventure story to justify exaggerated action sequences, the same way enhanced strength or durability does. Also like those, it would theoretically make someone much safer to have it, but it exists in the story to let your character navigate into and weather more dangerous situations.
For its basic role in a story, a danger sense is a snappy way to rile up both the reader and the protagonist that doesn’t offer much information beyond that it’s time to sit smart because shit is about to go down.
Spidey comic canon is all over the board in quality and genre, and it started needing to subvert its formulas before the creators got a handle on what those formulas even were, and basically no one has read anything approaching most of it at this point, so for consistent examples of a really bare bones use of this power in storytelling, I’d point to the property that’s done the best job yet of boiling down the mechanics of Spider-Man to their absolute most basic essentials for adaptation to a compelling monster of the week TV series.
Or as you probably know it, Danny Phantom. DON’T BOO, I’M RIGHT.

DP is Spider-Man with about 2/3 of the serial numbers filed off and no death (ironically), and Danny’s ghost sense is the most proof in the formula example of what the spidey sense is for: It’s a big sign held up for the viewer that says, “Something is wrong! Pay attention!” Effectively a visual scare chord. It’s about That Drama. And it works, which won it a consistent place in the show’s formula. We’re talking several times an episode here.
So why does it work?
It’s a little counterintuitive, but it’s strong storytelling to tell your audience that something bad is going to happen before it does. A vague, punchy spoiler transforms the ignorant calm before a conflict into a tense moment of anticipation. ...And it makes sure people don’t fail to absorb the beginning of said conflict because they weren’t prepared to shift gears when the scene did. Shock is a valuable tool, too, but treating it like a staple is how you burn out your audience instead of keeping them engaged. Not to go after an easy target, but you need to know how to manage your audience’s alarm if you don’t want to end up like Game of Thrones.
The limits of the spider-sense also keep you on your toes when handled by a smart writer. It tells Peter (everyone’s is a little different, so I’m going to cite the og) about threats to his person, but it doesn’t elaborate with any details when it’s not already obvious why, what kind, and from what. And it doesn’t warn him about anything else-- Which is a pretty critical gap when you zoom out and look at his hero career’s successes and failures and conclude that it’s definitely why he’s lived as long as he has acting the way he does, but was useless as he failed to save a string of people he’d have much rather had live on than him.
(Any long-running superhero mythos has these incidents, but with Peter they’re important to the core themes.)
And since this power is by plot for plot (or because it’s roughly agreed it only really blares about threats that check at least two boxes of being major, immediate, or physical), it always kicks in enough to register when the danger is bearing down...when it’s too late to actually do anything about it if “anything” is a more complex action than “dodge”.

That Distinctive, Crunchy Spider Flavor
The spider-sense and its little pen squiggles go hand in hand with wallcrawling (and its unique and instantly identifiable associated body language) to make the Spider-Person powerset enduringly iconic and elevate characters with it from being generic mid-level super-bricks. Visually, but also in how it shapes the story.
I said it can share a narrative role with super strength. But when you end a fight and go home, super strength continues to make your character feel powerful, probably safer than they’d be otherwise, maybe dangerous.
The spider-sense just keeps blaring, “Something’s wrong! Something’s wrong! God, why aren’t you doing something about this!?”
Pretty morose thing to live with, for a safety net! Kind of a double edged sword you have there! Could be constantly being hyperattuned to problems would prime you for a negative outlook on life. Kind of seems like a power that would make it impossible for a moral person to take a day off, leading them into a beleaguered and resentful yet dutiful attitude about the whole superhero gig! Might build up to some of the core traits of this mythos, maybe! Might lead to a lot of fifteen minute retirement stories, or something. Might even be a built in ‘great responsibility’ alarm that gets you a main character who as a rule is not going to stop fighting until he physically cannot fight anymore.

Certainly not apropos of anything, just throwing this short lived barely-a-joke tagline up for fun.
One of my personal favorite things about stories with superpowers is keeping in mind how they cause the people who have them to act in unusual ways outside of fights, so when you tell me that these people have an entire extra sense that tells them when the gas in their house is leaking through a barely useful hot/cold warning system that never turns off, I’m like, eyes emojis, popcorn out, notebook open, listening intently, spectacles on, the whole deal.
It also contributes to Peter Parker’s personality in a way I really enjoy: It allows him to act like an irrational maniac. When you know exactly when a situation becomes dangerous and how much, normal levels of caution go out the window and absolutely nothing you do makes sense from an exterior standpoint anymore. That’s the good shit. I would like to see more exploration of how the non-Parker characters experiencing the world in this incredibly altered way bounce in response.
It’s also one of many tools in this franchise hauling the reader into relating more closely with the main character. The backbone of classic Spidey is probably being in on secrets only Peter and the reader know which completely reframe how one views the situation on the page. It’s just a big irony mine for the whole first decade. A convenient way to inform the reader and the lead that something is bad news that’s not perceivable to any other characters is youth-with-a-big-exciting-secret catnip.
Another point for tension, there, in that being aware of danger is not synonymous with being able to act on it. If there’s no visible reason for you to be acting strange, well...you’re just going to have to sit tight and sweat, aren’t you? Some gratuitous head wiggles never hurt when setting up that type of conflict.
Have I mentioned that they look cool? Simultaneously punchy and distinctive, with a respectable amount of leeway for artists to get creative with and still coming up with something easily recognizable? And pretty easy to intuit the meaning of even without the long-winded explanations common in the days when people wrote comics with the intent that someone could come in cold on any random issue and follow along okay, I think, although the mechanic has been deeply ingrained in popular culture for so long that I can’t really say for sure.
It was also useful back in the day when no artists drew the eyes on the Spider-Man mask as emoting and were conveying the lead’s expressions entirely through body language and panel composition. If you wiggle enough squiggles, you don’t need eyebrows.
Take This Handwave and Never Ask Me a Logistical Question Again
This ability patches plot holes faster than people can pick them open AND it can act as an excuse to get any plot rolling you can think of if paired with one meddling protagonist who doesn’t know how to mind their own business. Why can a teenager win a six on one fight against other superhumans? Well, the spider-sense is the ultimate edge in combat, duh.
Why can Peter websling? Why doesn’t everyone websling? Well, the spider-sense is keeping him from eating flagpole when he violently flings himself across New York in a way neither man nor spider was ever meant to move.
How are we supposed to get him involved with the plot this week???? Well, that crate FELT dangerous, so he’s going to investigate it. Oh, dip, it was full of guns and radioactive snakes! Probably shouldn’t have opened that!
Yeah, okay, but why isn’t it fixing everything, then? Isn’t it supposed to be why Peter has never accidentally unmasked in front of somebody? ('Nother entry for this section, take a shot.) That’s crazy sensitive! How does he still have any problems!? Is everything bad that’s ever happened to characters with this powerset bad writing!? --Listen, I think as people with uncanny senses that can tell us whether we are in danger with accuracy that varies from incredible to approximate (I am talking about the five senses that most people have), we should all know better than to underestimate our ability to tune them out or interpret them wrong and fuck ourselves up anyway. I honestly find this part completely realistic.
*SLAPS ROOF OF SPIDER-SENSE* YOU CAN FIT SO MANY STORIES IN THIS THING
The spider-sense is a clean branch into...whatever. There is the exact right balance of structure and wishy-washiness to build off of. A sample selection of whatevers that have been built:
It’s sci-fi and spy gadgets when Peter builds technology that can interface with it.
It’s quasi-mystical when Kaine and Annie-May get stronger versions of it that give them literal psychic visions, or when you want to get mythological and start talking about all the spider-characters being part of a grand web of fate.
Kaine loses his and it becomes symbolic of a future newly unbound by constraints, entangled thematically with the improved physical health he picked up at the same time -- a loss presented as a gain.

Peter loses his and almost dies 782 times in one afternoon because that didn’t make the people he provoked when he had it stop trying to kill him, and also because he isn’t about to start “””taking the subway’’””’ “‘’“”to work”””’’” like some kind of loser who doesn’t get a heads up when he’s about to hit a pigeon at 50mph.
Peter’s starts tuning into his wife’s anxiety and it’s a tool in a relationship study.
It starts pinging whenever Peter’s near his boss who’s secretly been replaced by a shapeshifter and he IGNORES IT because his boss is enough of an asshole that that doesn’t strike him as weird; now it’s a comedy/irony tool.
Into the Spider-Verse made it this beautiful poetic thing connecting all the spider-heroes in the multiverse and stacked up a story on it about instant connection, loss, and incredibly unlikely strangers becoming a found family. It was also aesthetic as FUCK. Remember the scene where Miles just hears barely intelligible whispering that’s all lines people say later in the film and then his own voice very clearly says “look out” and then the room explodes?? Fuck!!!!

Venom becomes immune to it after hitchhiking to Earth in Peter’s bone juice and it makes him a unique threat while telling a more-homoerotic-than-I-assume-was-originally-intended story about violation and how close relationships can be dangerous when they go sour.
It doesn’t work on people you trust for maximum soap opera energy. Love the innate tragedy of this feature coming up.
IN CONCLUSION I don’t have much patience for writers who don’t take advantage of it, never mind feel they need to write around it.

“We’re only halfway through the day, so I’ll continue answering calls for awhile.” The Host said in their usual monotone tone, sounding a bit bored. They coughed once, “sorry about that-“ They barley managed to finish the sentence when they started coughing again, this time repetitively and more intensely. It sounded like it hurt, but it didn’t last very long, and then they suddenly became silent.
They didnt say anything for quite a bit, but something could be heard if you listened carefully, it sounded like steam hissing out of a pot.
“Theres been a change of plans,” they said quickly, their voice sounding tired, weak, and a bit panicked. “The AMA or whatever it is is ending right now-“ they stopped to shout to their assistant,

The transmission ends there and whatever it was The Host said is lost.
Many minutes pass, perhaps half an hour or more, when The Host starts to talk again. But it is clearly something that was recorded before and not live.
“-a story about Zapdos, you say? Well.. Ive shared all the stories I’ve heard about them, aside from one. I heard this from someone I used to associate with but not anymore if I can help it.
Its the story of the child of the Zapdos native to Kanto. This Zapdos, unlike its parent, was a vibrant orange with dark grey, almost black markings and yellow eyes. This child was a curious one, and would always venture away from its parent when it wasnt being watched by th- it.
This child ventured into the deep depths of the forest, where it came across a beast of darkness, the child was frightened, but stood its ground. ‘What do you sseekk…?’ The beast asked. ‘Nothing. Im just exploring.’ The child said nervously. ‘A brave one, then.’ The beast said. ‘I can offer you my protection, thisss foressst is unsssafe.’ The child could do nothing but nod, and before it knew it, the beast had become the childs shadow. ‘Its easssier to protect you from here. Trust me.’ The shadow claimed. ‘A-alright.’ The child said, venturing back home.
That night, the child went up to its parent. ‘Zapdos,’ the child said, ‘this beast says it will protect me.’ Zapdos looked down at the childs shadow. ‘Really? Well Id need to see this shadows true form before I trust it with anything.’ To the Zapdos suprise, who had not thought the child was telling the truth, the shadow complied.
The beast rose from the shadows, towering over the Zapdos. The Zapdos gasped. ‘A vile beast! A lurker, not one to be trusted! An agent of Yveltal and his treacherous ways!’ The beast glared down at the Zapdos. ‘You are the treacherous one. My master Yveltal has sent me to rid you from the world, there can only be one legendary at one given time. You know this.’ The beast said this, its voice devoid of the inflection it had before.
‘Zapdos..’ the child whispered. ‘That beast sounds soulless!’ The Zapdos drew its child close to it. ‘Thats because it is,’ they whispered back, ‘beasts such as that are made to be emotionless servants, always following their masters way.’ The Zapdos glared up at the beast. ‘I will defeat you. You will not take this childs parent away from it.’
A fight broke out between the two, lasting all night long. The beast fought brutally and viciously, but the Zapdos was too powerful for a creature such as it. The Zapdos struck the beast down, reducing it to a burning pile of dark material. The Zapdos and its child stared down at the remains.
‘Zapdos,’ the child said, ‘you said it was an a agent of Yveltal.. What does that mean?’ Zapdos looked down at its child. ‘It was created from the power of Yveltal, he used his dark power to bring a creature such as that to our realm. They are loyal only to their masters and never feel any emotion.’
The child didnt look up from the beasts remains. ‘Do you think we could have a beast like that as a servant?’ The Zapdos didnt respond for a moment. ‘I would not want to bring such a vile creature to our realm if not given the opportunity to. If I was gifted one, then what choice would I have then to make it my servant? It would have no use to the world otherwise.’ The child nodded, smiling ‘Your right. I hope we get one and it isnt as scary.’”
The Host was silent for a moment after the stories conclusion. “I do not enjoy that story. I find it degrading and frankly, vile. Im sure it was a tale that was made long ago, in times when people were crueler. Or maybe it was the one who I heard it from who made it, I would not be surprised if they share the sentiment showcased in the story.”

"Um, Miss, who are you?" Loki's voice dragged you out of your thoughts.
"Uh-I'm I'm an agent! here! in the TVA!" you say a little too enthusiastically.
Eyeing you worriedly, Loki replies, " Oooook, now Mobius." he says, looking at the man, " where will I be staying?"
" Y/n will show you your quarters Loki, and you'll have your own cubicle, where you'll be taught by Miss Minutes about the TVA" Mobius replies walking Loki out of his office, shooting you a sympathetic glance.
Following closely behind, the reality if the situation suddenly hit you like a train. A variant of your  your soon-to-be husband, who died, was here
Alive.
Should you tell him? Should you not tell him? All the sadness and depression which you tried so hard to push away and bottle up was surfacing, leaking out drop by drop.
"Y/n? Y/n! Earth to Y/n!" you heard Mobius say your name, his hand waving in front of your face, he was looking at you sadly, knowing what you were going through.
" Sorry yeah?" you say, a little out of breath.
" Take Loki to his room ok? The staff quarters." He said.
" Yeah! Sure! Please follow me Mr. Laufeyson." you say heading towards the staff quarters.
Loki looks at Mobius before following you.
After a while of walking in complete silence, Loki tries to make conversation,
"I don't believe I've gotten your name madam" he says.
" Huh, well I thought, you already heard it multiple times, given how many times Mobius had shake me out of my thoughts, I'm Y/n. Nice to meet you." Again.
" Heh yes, well I'm Loki-"
" of Asgard, Yes, I'm aware of that Mr Laufeyson, I bet everyone knows who you are." you say.
It suddenly dawned that you might have not made a good first impression.
" I'm sorry, I don't mean to be rude, It's just everyone's on edge today." Yeah! particularly me! Well what am I supposed to do when I see a variant of my dead fiancé? Kiss him? Tell him the truth? No you idiot!
" Well, I doubt they have a runaway variant everyday." he says chuckling lightly.
" You'll be surprised, Mr Laufeyson." you say smirking at him.
Heading to a door, you unlock it with a keycard and show him inside. It's a fairly large room, with a bed, a Tv, a mini-fridge, with an attatched bathroom.
" This is your room, and so is this keycard, your uniform is in the cupboard and your work begins tomorrow. Good Luck Mr.Laufeyson" you say smiling lightly while simultaneously crying and sobbing on the inside.
" Thank you, Ma'am, and please call me Loki." he says smirking at you.
"Only if you call me Y/n."
"Alright then, Thank you Y/n"
" You're very welcome Loki, I'll see you tomorrow." you say walking out.

"Y/n Liste-" Mobius begins,
"No no, this is where you zip it!" your eyes glowing a shade of orange . That's all that would happen, the only indication that you had magic, you're eyes would glow when you were  you were really emotional.
" Picture yourself in my place, you're getting married, you're fiance is killed before you're eyes, then after a few years you see them again, but they don't know you, how would you feel? Think about that Mobius!" you say, tears threatening to spill out your eyes.
"Y/n, I understand that, but we need him, he's the key to ending this, lots of minutemen, Jamie, Cassandra, Damon, Stefan! All dead! We need him, and we need him to be focused, after the mission is over, then you can tell him whatever you want, but please for the love of the time-keepers above, please don't tell him, you'll be accompanying us on missions from now on. You know Loki almost better than he knows himself an we need both of you. Please." Mobius pleads.
Sighing, you nod and try to glare at him, but ended up sadly smiling, you couldn't help it, you couldn't stay mad at Mobius, he was like an elder brother, or your best friend.
Smiling Mobius gets up and hugs you tightly, making you feel a bit better.

That night, you weren't able to sleep, thinking about every good memory you had when Loki-well OG Loki was still alive.
You and Loki baking, him dabbing frosting on your lips, before kissing it off, the boops, the damn boops that made you feel so warm and fuzzy on the inside.
When you first met- 2013
It was a normal day at Avengers Tower, you had just gotten back from a long undercover mission, you had heard about the new resident staying, God of Mischief.
Throwing your duffle bag on the carpet in the room and immediately showered, trying to scrubbing the blood and grime off, before you went downstairs to surprise the team.
Being a dramatic bitch, you decided to make an awesome entrance.
*Steve in the kitchen*
" Hey, Tony?" Steve said
"Yeah capsicle?"
"Why do  I hear boss music?" Steve says looking worried.
Suddenly the door's are kicked open, startling everyone.
" I'm BACK bitches!!!" you say while holding your arms out.( like how Loki does it)
Shriek and laughs and smiles later, you gather your courage and go up to Loki,
"Hi, I'm Y/n. Nice to meet you." you say smiling,
" Loki, of  Asgard, nice to meet you too." he says, taking your hand and kissing your knuckles.
And that was the day you fell for Loki Laufeyson.

"- and what happens when a nexus event branches past red line?" Miss Minutes asks Loki.
Loki ignores her, reading Mobius's jet ski magazine.
"Come on Loki!" she says frowning
Sighing Loki looks at her before saying, " It's when the Tva, can no longer reset the nexus event." smiling smugly.
" and the collapse of reality as when we know it." she finishes.
"Can you here me? Are you a recording, or are you alive?" he asks.
"Uh--sorta both!" she answers.
Mischievously, he rolls up the magazine and starts swatting at the mascot, causing her to go back inside the computer.
Looking at him, from you're cubicle, you can't help but smile softly, it had been years since you had last seen that beautiful smile and you're heart was melting.
From his cubicle, he spotted you and waved, eyes slightly softening, he liked your company, you put up with his bullshit and you were fun at the same time.
Waving back, you can't help but blush when you realize he caught you staring, your blush made him smile more.
Suddenly Mobius appeared behind him, talking to him and giving him a jacket, before he called you over, to talk about the mission.
" Y/n there's been an attack, we need you to come with us." he said hurriedly.

"We've grabbed enough temporal-aura to know it's our Loki variant, but we don't know which kind." Hunt says.
"The lesser kind, just to be sure." Loki butts in, making you snort.
He seemed pleased that he almost made you laugh.
" Ok, here's the deal, when we get out on the branch, we're not looking for a time criminal; we're looking Loki, a variation of this guy." Mobius says pointing to Loki, while projecting imaged of other Loki variants, each one getting weirder by the second.
"Apparently you won the Tour de France." you say nodding towards the hologram.
"Apparently." Loki says smiling.
"Not so slight, different powers, though powers include-Shape shifting, Illusion projection and Mind contr-" Mobius began.
"Duplication casting." You and Loki say in sync, turning to look at each other in surprise before looking back at the confused team.
"Illusion projection."
" No, they're two completely different powers." you began
"How Y/n?" Mobius asked.
" Professor Loki, would you like to answer that or would you like to answer?" you say, smirking at him
" You answer first." he says smirking back at you
"Illusion projection involved one depicting a detailed image from outside oneself which is perceptible in the external world." you began, Loki seemed impressed.
" While Duplication casting entails recreating an exact facsimile of one's own body in it's present circumstance which acts as a true holographic mirror of it's own molecular structure. But you already knew that." Loki finished.
" Not bad, Laufeyson." you said.
"Not bad yourself." He smiled.
" O-ok take a breath. Noted. Ok let's go. Everyone gear up" ( sometimes, I'm not going to follow the lines well, cuz i don't remember them.
Stepping out of the dressing room, you felt amazing, it had been a while since you wore gear and you didn't realize how much you missed it.
You also drew the attention of a certain blue-eyed, raven-haired god.
He couldn't take his eyes off you and you didn't know whether to feel happy or awkward.
Both.
Both.Yes.
Both is good.
Happy and Awkward.

After everyone was geared up, you headed to your destination.
Oshkosh, Wisconsin, Year 1985.
After reaching there, Loki went up to Mobius, and they started discussing things about the Tva, stuff you honestly did not give a crap about.
Headed towards a tent, Loki and Mobius were having a conversation. Loki seemed to trust Mobius and that's weird, he never trusted anyone except you.
"Ok stop, this is not your Loki ok, this is someone different, don't screw the relationship you have with this guy"
After all you went inside, you instantly spotted a TVA helmet.
Someone was taken hostage. Hunter C-20
"He's taking hostages." Hunter began
" He's never taken hostage before." Mobius mused.
" Maybe's he upping his game" Hunter said
"or he pruned her." you interuppted.
" A Loki couldn't have taken the jump on C 20." Hunt said.
" I think you underestimate-" Loki began
" Fan out, search for her and hurry up because we're at three units until red-line." Hunter ordered.
"Come on Loki." Mobius began. You follow him. Looking back, you see Loki staring at the helmet.
" Wait." Loki calls out, everyone stopping dead in their tracks and looking at him.
" If you leave this tent, you'll end up just like them" he continues.
As Loki explains, you zone out again, focusing on his eyes, ocean blue, with specks of green and gold, making them look like the most beautiful ocean ever.
"Did you know, you have beautiful eyes?" you say, stroking Loki's cheek while staring into his eyes.
" Oh, I have beautiful eyes?" he smirks
" The most beautiful." you whisper before kissing him softly.
Pulling away, Loki looks into your eyes.
"Darling, you complement my eyes, when yours are clearly superior!" He said
1, " But Loki, they're brown, they're so plain, what do you mean they're pretty.?"
"Darling, you're eyes are so beautiful, they remind me of a glass of ale, the mud that makes the earth, your eyes represent earthquakes, that bring the biggest of the biggest mountains to kneel for them. I love your eyes, they make me feel home."
( sorry about that, that's for people with brown eyes, cuz I have brown eyes, and I don't see them appreciated enough, pls ignore if you don't have brown eyes)
"Y/n, Y/n snap out of it! Come on, we're going back." Mobius said, walking out, you follow him, slightly smiling at the fond memory.
After you come back, you immediately head to your room, shower and take a nap.

THE WALTEN FILES: my jumbled notes on my blind run-in with this web series
first off this is gonna be long and unorganized, also this is my second time writing this as i had lost literally half of my progress and im This (imagine two fingers almost touching with a 0.0000000001mm distance between them) close to ripping all of the fucking hair out of my goddamn head. but now this will be extra long and yes, i will lose some accuracy to my first writing but thats okay ill probably edit this a kajillion times over
which brings me to my next tangent; im literally braindumping here. so to have a smidge of organization all afterthoughts, edits and corrections will be boldened, i forgot what im gonna do with italicized text but ill probably bolden it here yeah im pretty sure its for side tangents, separate from Corrections, which are in bold. also theyre for emphasis too.
so in general, this post right here is all of my notes i wrote down on my grid-patterned sticky notes (which i used WAYYYY too much of) about the first 3 uploaded walten files youtube videos transferred onto my handy dandy digital notebook, this b(l)og. yeppers peppers. you know im serious about this shit when i typed probably over like a thousand fucking words including boldened shit, italicized shit and motherfucking links, lost it ALL, and im sitting here re-typing it again.
i feel bad about this but im not gonna trigger warn right here, but this is technically a warning. if you want a list of triggers as to what this post (and the walten files in general) i will link a little list to that here

THE WALTEN FILES - VIDEO #1
clarifying this now, im gonna put some useless shit which i thought was code onto this because even though it was useless it was part of my notes and im physically going to combust if i dont put down every single thing i wrote on my papers. so what i thought was code was in the closed captions, i started writing it down when i got to the second video but came back to my first videos notes to include them. i wrote down the first letter to every word that was capitalized in the closed captions, which i had on as a default because number one i knew going into this id need them because most web horror things like args and cryptic shit like that has some of the most crucial shits in the closed captions. number two i am autistic and have auditory processing issues and have most closed captioning on as a default if theyre available.

i then jotted, in parenthesis of course, the names of the animatronics when they were listed in the animation section of the video; bon aka the blue bunny, sha aka the sheep one, boozoo aka the clown<3 honk<33, and banny aka the purpled eyelashed up one who is also a bunny btw. also i got boozoo the clown and boozoo the mustache guy confused because apparently the clowns name is billy???? but they named “boozoo” in bons sleepover and showed the clown? idk maybe im an idiot and theyre the same or just an idiot and theyre different or a super mega (matt and ryan?!?!??) idiot in general which is probably the case
i started drawing little stars to write down things i thought would be super important or to 100% look at again. the first subject of this pointy torture was the part of the video where at 3:00, i marked it down to make sure to reverse the audio as it was most definitely a weird audio that has that signature warp-y effect that makes sure you KNOW its in reverse. i then listened back to it Very carefully (still got it wrong) and got this: “you finally start to remember. that old doll. they will look out for you soon” im also pretty sure i heard “sophie” at the end of that audio but im not entirely sure and dont remember and i dont wanna go back to check lmfao but anyways it didnt matter because i was wrong anyway. after i had finished all 3 walten files i watched the film theory video on the walten files (which didnt cover all 3 but was dece.) out of curiosity and to hear matpats signature silly little voice explain some stuff i already knew, and click some shit in my brain that i couldve thought up of if i was a bit more... i dont know honestly. anyways yeah so the actual audio is “you finally start to remember. that old day. they will look out for you soon.” so yeah. day, not doll.
i then wrote down “sarah evelyn”, the name on the bons sleepover animation (i dont remember if she created it or animated it or whatnot) and scribbled will she matter? under her name. turns out no, as i didnt see her name in the rest of the series, let alone the first video. this is also a great time to mention how matpat theory helped me realize that the walten files are collections of videos, uploaded onto youtube by anthony. (i already knew about anthony as he signed his name in the descriptions of the youtube videos, making me categorize this overall web series more into an arg type genre.) but yes, the tapes, recorded “irl” footage, animated clips, vhs tape recordings and other audio-visual content is all collected and labeled the walten files, as i had mistaken each video to be a tape. stupid me. alrighty, onward!

i then wrote down what text i saw on the dead, mangled, bloody body in the purple security suit; “i cant feel anything” “he thought i was her” then drew a little arrow pointing to; thought brian was sophie? or ashley? i also starred the name Brian Stells this is totally out of order LMFAOOOOOOOO also i wrote down ashley because, again, my little pea brain went back on my video 1 notes after watching video 2. but yep thats all i wrote for The Walten Files 1 - Company Introductory Tape

The Real Story Behind The Slender Man: EVERYTHING You Need To Know
It started in May 2014.
Three teenage girls were enjoying a Wisconsin summer evening when they decided to go for a walk in their local forest.
Only two of them would return.
The third would be stabbed 19 times by her friends.
She survived, pulling herself out of the forest and to safety. Her classmates were promptly arrested, and confessed their crime, later going on to plead insanity.
Yet despite the shocking nature of this crime, a stabbing doesn’t necessarily make worldwide news. But it wasn’t the circumstance of the attack that hit the headlines. It was the motive.
They claimed they did it to appease the Slender Man.
And they were not the only ones that committed such a crime in his name.
To a majority of the population, these claims can be written off as the ‘insanity’ stamped on the official court documents. But the thing is, these atrocities aren’t the only times Slender Man has been sighted outside of his pixelated world.
In fact, Slender Man made his name many years before we began our search for the 8 pages.  
Does he really only exist within the World Wide Web?

What Is The Slender Man?
Our story starts 5 years before Wisconsin hit the headlines.
In 2009, comedy website Something Awful launched a paranormal images competition. Users of the website were to mock up supernatural-inspired or horror-themed pictures, and leave them to be judged by the internet.
Eric Knudsen’s entry forged together the mystery of an urban legend and the dark reality of pedophilia.
Knudsen used pictures of children playing in playgrounds, or hanging out in friendship groups, or any other innocent gathering of youngsters, and photo-shopped a figure among them. This figure was an 8 foot tall, thin man, with a faceless, pale profile draped in a formal suit.
Emerging from his back was a set of dark, twisting tentacles.
He called him the Slender Man.

It was only when 4chan users picked up on these pictures that his urban legend infamy was set in stone.
Both the forum site and Creepypasta.com moulded his backstory, infusing the simple tales of kidnapped children with the concept of proxies - that is, children which were used to do his bidding. And it’s this premise that would alter the landscape of teenage crime - and suicides - in America.
From here the urban legend extended its tentacles, haunting the darker corners of the internet. But it was his debut in video games that drew him out into the mainstream.
In 2012, the first video game first entered our downloads folder.
The free game followed a simple principle: you wander through dark woods in the dead of the night armed with a torch and surrounded by pixelation only an early Buffy demon could muster up, and you look for 8 ‘pages’.
These pages are poorly pencilled drawings that have been left by children taken by the Slender Man - but the terror only starts here. Throughout your search you are followed by the entity titling the game.
Slender Man: The Arrival hit the shelves only two years later and followed the same concept as the original. But this time we are joined by some sense of a plot, and a few other characters, too.

Nevertheless, the undying premise remains: he follows kids, and then he takes ‘em for himself.
Why?
This remains unknown.
But it’s this premise which fuelled the urban legend haunting the teenagers, fitting the real life cases that have scarred America.
This was confirmed in his film debut in 2018: Slender Man preyed upon the wave of crime inspired by the creepy pasta, merging the reality of the recent stabbings with the video games that put him on the map.
But this premise has scored a stab wound on our society before, fitting historic folklore far too accurately.
Crime In The Name Of The Slender Man
Wisconsin was not the only American state to witness a shocking crime inspired by this indie horror icon. In fact, a variety of other attacks pinned on the Slender Man followed a similar pattern:
One 14 year old burnt their house down, a tragedy linked to their history of reading creepypastas exploring the legend, whilst another young teen stabbed her own mother in order to please the Slender Man.
But it doesn’t stop there.
Alongside the spike in violent crime was a sharp rise in teenage suicides at the Pine Ridge Native American Reservation.
The suicide rate among the Native American population in America is already far more prevalent than any other ethnic group, but the sudden spike of 9 suicides of those aged between 12 to 24 sparked concern. And when the motives were drawn back to the Slender Man, these concerns only grew further.
The authorities even made mention to this urban legend in their official investigation, determining that the Slender Man was considered by the teenagers in the community to be a suicide spirit, a dark entity within Native American folklore. But to them, the Slender Man went by a slightly different name.
They called him the Tall Man spirit.

“He’s appearing to these kids and telling them to kill themselves.” - a local minister who supported youths in the community
Suicide spirits follow a similar line of thought to Catholic views of demons or evil spirits: they are negative spirits that feed off our energy. This entity in particular, however, spends its free time targeting and possessing individuals that are undergoing a spiritual crisis.
Alcoholics, addicts, the depressed - they are all worthy contenders for being the personal buffets of suicide spirits.
With a cluster of Facebook videos alluding to local folklore combined with viscous cyber-bullying encouraging the victims take their own lives, the notion of the Tall Man gathered strength, tying together the folklore of the suicide spirit and the urban legend of the Slender Man.
But this wasn’t the only time the Tall Man has been sighted in Native American communities.
In 1890, the Wounded Knee Massacre occurred.
20,000 Latoka Native Americans were left for dead by US troops. To this day it is considered one of the most atrocious acts committed against the Native American population.
And it was here that the Big Man was first seen.
Many claimed an entity taking the form of a tall man sporting a top hat would wander the reservation after the massacre, and made the younger generation take their own lives.
Whilst negative spirits donning the top hat are common outside of Native American folklore, the similarities between the Big Man and the Tall Man create an uncomfortable link between the tragedies scarring the past and present Native American population.
But this community’s folklore isn’t the only place the Slender Man has been referenced outside of the video game.
Nearly every other culture has their very own Tall Man.
Could the Slender Man have existed before the original video game even entered beta testing?
The Slender Man In Historic Folklore
When I began researching the entity’s existence - aside from being overwhelmed by the array of tragic stories - I encountered many dead ends.
One of these dead ends sticks out.
Out of all of the rumours circulating following the Wisconsin stabbings was that Slender Man originated from Romanian folklore, and was based on some similar entity possibly bearing his size, demeanour, and pastime of abducting and/or traumatising children.
This was proven to be untrue.
But upon realising the Slender Man didn’t first make his name in Romania, I discovered he had made his name in a lot of other countries.
Like a lot.
Like way too many.
From motive to dress sense, the Slender Man’s first sighting starts a couple millennia before his internet debut.

Fear Dubh from Irish folklore is the most popular contender for being the OG Slender Man, his name literally translating to ‘Black Man’. It is claimed that this entity would scare children snooping round the woods, and his title confirms his attire matches his more modern formal suit.
Germany’s Eriking too bears a resemblance to the Slender Man’s irish counterpart - with a focus on both his height and dark clothing, this internet icon might have travelled further than we think. This mythical beast prides himself on dwelling in the woods and kidnapping children, confirming he has potential for the official historic Slender Man.
However: the plot thickens when we consider another German entity known only as the Tall Man.
With the same name as the Native American suicide spirit, and the guiding principle of kidnapping kids who wander the woods, the potential for an international entity once again emerges from the darkness.
Historic legends from the American South also contain a similarity that should have you sleeping with the light on: a treelike man who kidnaps children was often spotted throughout history.
Regardless, it’s easy to decode these vague mythical creatures as warnings to their children of the dangers of wandering near uncharted territory alone and at night.
But it’s the details of the Slender Man that click together when we trace the folklore back to the oldest recorded sighting of the urban legend.
And this takes us to 9000 BC.
Both Eypgtian hieroglyphics and Aztec paintings often portray the same distinct tall, thin, menacing figure, but it’s Brazilian cave paintings that house the oldest attributes.

In these paintings you can clearly see a tall man lead a child by the hand, his unnaturally large limbs dominating the scene.
Yet aside from the Slender Man’s basic features - that of his height and incessant stalking of children - his facelessness (#new-word) is a feature we have yet to discuss. Fortunately, many cultures have already discussed it. And the greatest conversation takes place in Japan.
Japanese faceless ghosts have haunted the small island for centuries. The Noppera-bo prides itself on frightening humans, often taking the face of someone the victim knows before their features dissipate into nothingness.
All you can see is a blank, smooth, flat layer of skin, a sight only witnessed when the Slender Man finally catches up with you in his video game debut.
Whether you believe in the Slender Man or not, there is no doubt that the concept harnessed by Eric Knudsen did not begin in 2009.
We might not know when the Slender Man began hunting children, and we might not know why he does, but there is one thing for certain:
He has not finished just yet.

zakki:re translations Part 1 (pg. 10-29, Vol. 1-2 illustrations)
Hello and welcome to the zakki:re translations post! It took a bit of time to think about how I’d have to structure these translations, but I’ve figured it out for the most part.
What this series of posts will be is a text translation of Ishida’s comments accompanied by the art he’s referring to (the actual art itself that’s been available online, not a picture taken from zakki:re. It’ll make more sense once you start going through the post, I promise). It will also include some commentary from me for some additional context, which will be marked as “T/N” for “translator notes”.
What this will NOT include are photographs of the book. If I take pictures of the book, they will be contained in a different post since I don’t want the translations posts to be more cluttered than they already are. I also won’t include any illustrations that don’t have commentary attached to them unless they’re somehow relevant to it.
They will be posted every 1-2 days depending on my schedule, and have roughly 10 pieces of commentary each which I found was a good length.
And lastly, some terminology before I begin. TG = Tokyo Ghoul (overall, like the fandom tag), OG = the first Tokyo Ghoul series, :re = Tokyo Ghoul:re.

This is the first cover on which :re began.
It gives off a certain vibe, hence the "Justice, commence!" blurb. At least that's probably what my editor thought.
I thought at the time that I was seriously going to fail to hand in my manuscript in time. It almost became, “Justice, commence (starting next week)!”

The cover illustration for volume 1 of :re. I used up all my energy drawing Haise. But he turned out quite well, don’t you think? He’s holding a Kitahara Hakushuu book in his hand.
I thought I should draw the story from the CCG perspective, so I introduced the character known as Sasaki Haise, an investigator who is a half-ghoul.
Before :re began I also created the Qs characters all at once for the shock factor. I took a break in between OG and :re, but it was only 3 weeks if I recall. I remember at the time I was working on the setting and drawing, so I ended up busier than usual during that writing period.
When OG ended, one of the staff asked, “Is it really over?” in confusion, and I answered, “Yeah, it’s really over.” It wasn’t really a lie since it was OG that had ended.

This is an illustration I drew using CLIP STUDIO. I’ve always used Sai for drawing, but when I was drawing the ending cards for the 2nd season of the OG anime (the ones that moved along with amazarashi’s “Seasons Die One After Another”), I decided to try drawing using CLIP STUDIO on a whim, and I kept using it for a while. Later I also drew the Trump card illustrations using CLIP STUDIO. I don’t use it anymore but looking back, the end product has a really distinct look to it, which makes me wonder if I should try using this program again...

You’ve probably realized it by now, but the opening pages and the center colour illustrations from the YJ magazines were printed as they originally were back then.
Since the magazine design would be lost for those who didn’t buy the magazine back then, it would’ve been a shame since L.S.D. (the design company) worked extremely hard to make it look good. I also think the blurbs that my editor came up can be considered a work of their own (such as ‘Qs bell’).
Of course, I’m sure there are people who want to see the paintings in their original state. I felt the same way which was why I was conflicted about it, but I’ve accepted it in this form for this time.
The volume illustrations and the magazine illustrations have been arranged in chronological order as much as possible. I hope you can enjoy it together with the circumstances of my editor’s work.
If I ever get another opportunity, I’d like to have an art book with just illustrations only.

I chose something relaxing for the off-centre composition while still following the general flow of the OG volume, conveying that she has become more cunning. A reference to "zakki", so it'd be great if you could compare between the two.
Haise looks good in shades of brown.
This is the interior of the Chateau where the Qs resided, and it was designed by a good friend who I’ll call J-chan. A luxury home with the Qs’ bedrooms, common room, kitchen, Haise’s room, and the training room, fully furnished. I got the data from him so that I could preview it and look around in 3-D, so I included it in the instructions for drawing the backdrop as a reference. Thanks!

At the very beginning I drew Mucchan (Mutsuki Tooru), and moved on to other characters from there. As Saiko hadn't appeared in the story yet, her face isn't shown here. "Saiko absolutely won't show up for an entire volume," was my iron will.

The urgency in Allura’s voice wasn’t necessarily unusual, either—she was very much of the mind that Voltron was obligated to answer every single distress call brought to their attention. Being the defender of the known universe came with a certain number of responsibilities, after all.
But seeing the pinched, pale look on both Allura and Coran’s faces when they converged on the bridge was unusual. "The universe is vast even in terms of those planets still yet beyond the grips of the Galra. But…. the distress call came from the Terra Firma Quadrant.”
Earth.
Comments:  Back to Earth AU. Reunion fic. This one occasionally flips pov to some characters on Earth so we get to see their reactions to the gang’s initial disappearance and then the realization that they are not alone in the universe. This fic is so different from the other Back To Earth ones I've read, all the little details make it feel so real. A song that I feel sets the mood for this fic is Home and It Goes On.

Summary:  Keith’s shirt falls to the floor and Shiro gets so distracted by the ink on his skin that when he finally realizes Keith was trying to flip him, he’s already on his back. With the mismatched ‘Never tell me the odds’ pressed against his throat, Shiro thinks he could fall in love like this.
Comments:  Part 1 of the series blame it on the stardust which is partway through its second installment just pretending to know. This is a Sheith fic featuring tattooed!Keith. Also, my favorite part is the OG GARRISON TRIO AKA Matt/Shiro/Keith bonding bc they are my favorite friendship group ugh. Also Keith’s adoptive parents are super awesome like seriously I love them so much. This one ends with the start of season one basically, and Part 2 kinda picks up from there.

Summary:  “Not—not that you’d be my rebound! At worst, we become badass partners-in-crime with a grudging respect for each other, at best, we’re soulmates for life and this is fate trying to help us find happiness. So. Um.” Lance swallows and looks up at the Blade of Marmora soldier through his lashes. “What say you?”
They look down at their hands for a moment, fingers twisting together in deep thought. Then they’re pulling their gloves off, revealing pale, half-bruised knuckles of the human variation, and their mask is dissolving, giving way to big blue-purple eyes and an achingly familiar jet-black cowlick. “Who,” says Keith Kogane, in that low-pitched rumble that makes Lance’s stomach roil in the good way—holy fuck—“is this guy you’re trying to get over?”
Comments:  Lots of Lance whump. And obviously this is Klance endgame. I just love how far this goes before Lance finds out its not just some random bom guy. Lance is such a sassy guy when he’s in danger and it really comes out in this fic. Add in a heaping tablespoon of protective Keith and you’ve got yourself the perfect post-s4 voltron fanfic right here.
  Burn Break Crash by NaryCanary

Summary:  When Katie "Pidge" Holt arranged a special road trip with her boyfriend that doesn't go according to plan, she somehow throws herself in an unexpected predicament and now must take responsibility for it. What is it she must do? Take Keith Kogane - an attractive, mysterious, arrogant guy from school - on the road with her across the country.
Growing up, Pidge was always taught to look both ways before crossing the street to avoid accidents. Nobody ever told her what to do if her life happens to go up in flames.
Comments:  Slowburn Kidge roadtrip AU. Background Shallura. This is a college AU that feels very raw to me idk. Like its not just all fluff and comedy, its also angst and comfort and thrilling in all the ways. The way their conversations flow and relationship develops is so natural and un-forced. This fic really made me like Pidge a lot more after reading. Even if you don’t ship it romantically, it really makes you appreciate the fiery, explosive bond between them. Platonic Kidge is also something I started exploring because of how much I loved the interaction with these two.
  **Entangled by Purpleneutrino (mackerelmademedoit)
Word count:  101,859 (12/12)
Summary:  When Keith found himself mentally linked to Lance of all people, he never thought that it would end in anything but irritation and misery on both sides. He certainly never imagined that it would be a useful asset in team Voltron's fight against the Galra Empire. Now if he can just keep his feelings in check, they might actually have a chance at defeating Zarkon.
Needless to say, when he'd wished for a 'bonding moment' with Lance, this wasn't exactly what he'd had in mind.
Comments:  Klance with eventual mature content. Whump for both parties in this fic, and lots of angst. Also super-protective-over-Keith Shiro, which is my fav. A warning that this is very slow burn. I mean look at that word count. It’s amazing tho bc we get so much of this goodness. I love Stuck-Together and Forced Co-Dependency Tropes and this satisfies both. These two are forced to show so much vulnerability to each other and get so much closer as a result.
  **Keith’s ‘Physical Contact’ Initiation Program by alisayamin (sh_04e)
Word count:  26,522 (6/6)
Summary:  Keith didn’t move and neither did Pidge. It was a little awkward until Keith finally said, “Maybe we could officially officiate this..?”
“What do you mean?”
“Fist me.”
Pidge recoiled and sputtered, “Keith, what the f-” She was cut off by Shiro’s bellowing laughter from the observatory deck.
With his straight face unchanged, Keith lowered his left hand with the stopwatch and lifted his right hand, fisted.
Pidge actually sighed with so much relief, “OH. You mean fistbump! Right.” She slapped her forehead to remove the very very wrong image her imagination drew for her, “Holy shit, Keith, we need to work on that but yeah sure, I’d be honoured to officiate your physical contact program whatever.”
Or
That one time Coran realized Keith was too distant and decided to make him undergo the 'Physical Contact' Initiation Program which then led to --> 5 times the paladins realized Keith was an actual cat.
Comments:  I. LOVE. THIS. STORY. ugh. Keith bonding with everyone through hugs and cuddles, man. That is all that needs to be said. Oh and also Keith whump plus lots of comfort. Also Matt&Keith bros and Pidge&Keith bros is life. And super-protective-over-Keith Shiro. LITERALLY EVERYTHING YOU COULD EVER WANT ALL IN ONE GLORIOUS FIC. But seriously in this one, Keith unashamedly knows he wants physical affection, he just struggles with how to ask for it.

Summary:  Based very loosely off of @eyugho’s lovebug AU, which I love more than anything?? Thanks to them for starting this wonderful AU!
Keith's bitten by a lovebug, but this one doesn't make him all cuddly. Instead, every moment he spends away from Lance is physically painful for him, and every moment he spends touching him is really, really nice. That's frustrating enough already without Keith having to hide his massive crush.
Lance just wants to help, but he knows that Keith doesn't like to be touched. Also hiding a massive crush, because these two are horrible at communication.
Comments:  Slowburn Klance with so much Keith whump and comforting and supportive Lance. I really like this version of the Lovebug AU, especially bc it basically doubles as one of those Stuck-Together Tropes, and also they become super co-dependent on each other which is also nice because we get to see all their vulnerabilities and insecurities forced into the spotlight.

Summary:  The blade of Marmora aren't the only ones with time altering technology. Days on the outside can be months within. Keith finds this out a little too late.

Life is Strange : Before the Storm Episode 1 : Awake
Repost from previous blog. Warning, Life is Strange and Life is Strange Before the Storm spoilers (not huuuuge spoilers but still, so you do you.)

Last night I was fixating on my ps4, watching the countdown, waiting for midnight croissant-time (Paris GMT) to be able to play Life is Strange : Before the Storm that I pre-ordered (Deluxe version that allows you to have bonus outfits, mixtape mode and a bonus episode at the end with Max). So the clock stroke midnight and I played until 3.30am.
You have to know that when I play, I go everywhere, I talk to everybody, so if you don’t, I guess you can finish it in 2h30.
I was really nervous as I hit « New Game » as I was really expecting it, to learn more about Chloe and Rachel, but knowing it was from a totally different studio and that the Chloe I fell in love with in Life is Strange wouldn’t be the same as her voice actress, Ashly Burch (a.k.a the best voice actress ever, sorry not sorry but a 71hrs platinum of Horizon Zero Dawn and a platinum in the first Life is Strange will do that to you. And Borderlands. And I mean I saved her grandpa and fought Baba Yaga for her in Rise of the Tomb Raider so…) wasn’t able to come back as Chloe. I didn't know that when I pre-ordered it, and knowing the reasons why I kind of regretted giving them money. Link if you want to know more.
So in a mix of fear and excitement I started to play and didn’t stop for almost 4hrs (except for some screenshots and pitiful tweets)

No mosh pit for you shaka brah.
The story begins with Chloe wanting to go to a concert, kind of a playground intro as it shows you the ropes. You make your first graffiti (Chloe’s version of Max’s pictures), you talk to some people, you ponder in front of the fire to think about your shitty teenager life and when you try to enter, you have your first « Backtalk Challenge » which is a list of insults/arguments to help you talk your way into what you want.
So you enter the concert and then you meet your angel, Rachel Amber. And it goes really fast from there.
Basically it’s love at first sight for Chloe, and the next day you ditch school to spend it with Rachel, flirting with her like crazy (if that’s your choice -even if I feel that no matter your choice you end up making a fool of yourself) and that’s basically it. The core of the episode -minus some weird dreams about your dead father and some family drama- was Chloe trying to please Rachel Amber and Chloe falling in love with her and Rachel kind of returning those feelings but when you’re 16, nothing is simple.

Although I liked it, it felt really fast for me. I do believe in love at first sight but this story happening 3 years before the OG Life is Strange, I’m wondering how long the girls are going to spend together before Rachel goes missing. The short life expectancy of the game, being a 3 episodes game, is probably the reason why it’s all happening so fast. I’m kind of wondering if it’s not just a « let’s give the gays what they want right away » as we already know Chloe had a special bond with Rachel. Maybe I would have preferred a slower burn. Even William is on it.

The ending of this episode was kind of predictable, with a question that I read a few times « Did Rachel have powers? »
I stayed away as much as possible from trailers, theories and all but I think it was a legit question to have about DeckNine implementing a supernatural element into Before the Storm or not.

I know we are playing a 16yo who lost her dad, but some of Chloe’s lines were so cringy it made my heart ache. In the first Life is Strange Max had some « loser-Max » lines that I thought were really funny but in Before the Storm, it looks like they are trying too hard for her to be emo. We know, Chloe is a rebel. But shit.

And in another hand, some lines made me burst into laughter. The scene with Rachel where they invent people’s life was really funny, Chloe’s « flirting » skills felt real and spoke to the 16yo me, and that tabletop game session was one of the best thing I’ve seen in a while (I suspect someone with A.B initials helped write that but I obviously don’t have any proof of that.) written by Christopher Means.

Some prime Chloe Price as « People can eat a dick », her love of booty and of course her first mention of « hella » were mandatory but the delivery of those lines. Man.

I’m not going to compare the actors with the previous ones (not only Chloe’s voice actor changed but basically all of them -although I have doubts about Chloe’s mom but she doesn’t have the same Southern accent so…) because it wouldn’t be fair. But in my opinion Chloe’s voice actress, even though I’m sure she did the best she could, was flat. Her delivery was pretty monotone and even if sometimes I was hearing the old Chloe in the musicality of her voice, it wasn’t it a lot of the time. Rachel’s voice was a lot better than I expected for the few images I saw before, but in the end it was really a shame that seeing the characters you once knew and loved/hated meant you wouldn’t be able to hear the characters you once knew and loved/hated.
There was also another problem in the rhythm of the dialogs that were in « cutscenes » (meaning you don’t have a say in them) as there was some latence at some points, like a silence before the second part of a sentence or when someone answers to someone else. I guess it could be fixed to make it a bit snappier and more real.
Characters
Chloe Price
As I said before we meet a younger natural haired colored Chloe, and the roles are kind of reversed with the OG Lis. In Before the Storm, Chloe is the one trying to follow Rachel’s idea, trying to please Rachel, to be cool with the most popular girl in Blackwell. She’s not the alpha to Max’s beta anymore. She lacks confidence, she doesn’t have friends and it pains her.

Aaaah Rachel. Rachel Rachel Rachel. We heard so much about you. Blackwell’s most popular girl. You didn’t disappoint. Witty and sassy and sexy. Just like Chloe. It’s kind of difficult to trust her, knowing what we know from the OG Life is Strange, so I’m not giving her my heart just yet (you know, the pics in Frank’s trailer and stuff). Even though the choices were pretty easy to do as we know Chloe loves her (asshole).
Old Faces
Funny to see Nathan being bullied, Victoria being Rachel’s kiss ass, the science teacher and the skater we knew Chloe was familiar with in Lis. And Frank I hope you’ll have some beans.

New Faces
I decided that Eliot is the new Warren. Except he may be Chloe’s bf ? Ex-bf ? He left a note about a two month anniversary and Chloe said her v-card had been punched (that was hilarious btw).
I really liked Stephanie, she was really something. Can I please date her instead? Even if she crushes on Rachel.
We got a new bully, a guy named Drew who bullied Nathan (whom we learned bought his way into the team) and we have a new security guy who makes really good music.
Choices
Before the Storm works on the same mechanics as Life is Strange, meaning you have choices to make. The ones you faced in episode one seemed pretty inconsequential, but I guess the game being a prequel doesn’t give you much options to change the story. Unlike Max, it’s really nice that they don’t torture us after every choice, knowing you can’t undo them. (I’m thinking about the paint on Victoria’s face, whether you chose to take a pic or be nice to her, once you did what you did Max automatically say she should have chosen the other option.) Although you have a very easy way to go back with the « Load last save » option which is an easy way to explore other dialog options or other choices.
But it’s kind of hard when you know what you know. I chose to help Nathan, but it won’t change what will happen in Life is Strange. And I was kind of nice to David even though you can’t betray LiS Chloe as it wouldn’t make sense to have her being super nice to him and then angry in the sequel.
But honestly, the best option of the game was probably being able to pet the dog.

Life is Strange legacy
There were a lots of elements reminding me of Life is Strange (as it should) with a lot of mentions of Max that freaking broke my heart. You are able to see Chloe’s texts and Max not answering (freaking bitch) and you had some nods to the LiS plot as Rachel saying she could just leave at any given moment without telling anybody.
The soundtrack is in the line of the first one but a little bit more rock to fit Chloe’s taste, and the bonus outfit with the design we knew as Max’s was a sweet idea. Some line as a guy wanting Rachel to pose for his portfolio. (I’m obviously not going to list everything)
Chloe is also keeping a journal that she dedicated to Max because she doesn’t want to risk her not answering and damn, my heaaaart. There are a lot of little things screaming « Chloe is gaaaaay » and I honestly wish it was a little more subtle (but nice Blade Runner dream Chloe.)

It’s also difficult as a Pricefield shipper to be totally into it, because in my heart Chloe belongs with Max, someone that truly appreciates her, never used her and because we were Max. So we wanted her to be happy. Even if we knew Chloe loved Rachel. But without Rachel there wouldn’t be a blue haired Chloe Price so I have to put her needs and her young love before my own agenda.
Next episodes From the pictures presenting the two next chapter, we can assume that the girls will go on a roadtrip, probably to try to leave Arcadia Bay. And in the last pic, Chloe is wearing a flannel we all know as the “ready for the mosh pit shaka-brah” shirt and her legendary tri-bullet necklace.

So yeah, it’s a prequel to Life is Strange, from another studio, with new actors, but overall it was pretty decent and I’m looking forward to the next chapter (even though they lose points for using Comic Sans a few times.) I really got the feels at some point, I laughed, I got really emotional during the junkyard scene with the car, and even though it wasn’t perfect, I still want to protect Chloe Price at all costs. So that’s a win. Not a huge win. But it’s one. Quack - Monotony of Chloe’s voice Lots of loading points Things moving too fast between Rachel and Chloe Dialogs lacking rhythm Lines that make you want to stab yourself The graffiti are really easy to find You can’t skip forward in collector mode Too much gay (not subtle enough) Most of the small choices you make just change one line of the other choice Use of Comic Sans The time I had to pause the game because my cat was playing with the biggest spider I’ve ever seen.

Life and Lyric
This won't be easy to share and it could potentially get somewhat longwinded but whatever.  I just feel like I gotta do it so please bear with me ok thanks 😏
Many of you know that I've recently experienced significant growth in the relationship with my daughter. Some of you probably didn't even know I had a daughter because for a long time it's been a very sensitive subject for me to talk about due to seriously complicated and unfortunate circumstances.
Anyway, I do. I do have a daughter and her name is Lyric. She was born in Denver while I was living on the run (2005-2010) trying to avoid a ridiculous prison sentence for a ridiculous "crime" because Alabama's ridiculous laws regarding marijuana suggest I'm a hardened criminal that belongs in a cage. You probably know someone in prison for weed too, huh? Yeah. Ridiculous right?
So Lyric was born in 2008 and I was a stay-at-home-dad/starving artist (making music, touring, etc.) for the first 18 months of her life. She was a stereotypical "daddy's girl" in every aspect of the phrase but I'll stop gloating...for now. 😉
She was a year and a half old when the US Marshals kicked in the door to haul me back to Alabama to "pay my debt to society". The image of her standing up in her crib, hysterically crying, tears streaming down her cute baby face as they walked me past her bedroom in handcuffs is burned into my memory for eternity. It was brutally painful. To make it worse, they were in full on bully-mode and wouldn't even let me say goodbye. In fact, I could still hear her screaming from the police car out front.
Fast forward to about 6 months into the 42 month bid of being held captive in the Alabama Department of Corrections. To when the letters stopped coming in. To when the phone calls stopped being answered. To when Lyric's mom decided to go above and beyond in attempt to delete me from Lyric's life like I was some vague, poorly worded Facebook post made at 3:30am after polishing off a fifth of vodka. Her goal was to delete me like I never existed. Obviously, there was very little I could do about...well, anything. Especially from behind that razor wire fence. One of the first survival tactics you inevitably learn while doing time is accepting that you can't control what happens on the outside from the inside. I know it sounds like common sense but trust me, it's supremely harder than it sounds.
So as if I had a choice...I accepted it. Everything. Her mom moved on and I did my time. Luckily, Lyric's grandmother kept in touch a bit and I was able to send letters to Lyric through her. Clearly, Lyric was way too young to process any of what was going on, much less read a letter, but relentlessly I drew pictures for her, wrote her letters and thought about her constantly.
The year 2013 finally rolled around and apparently ADOC deemed me "rehabilitated" enough to be set free (re: sarcasm). To little to no surprise, just like all the OG convicts predicted, I heard from Lyric's mom literally the same week I was scheduled to be released (According to the OG's unwritten universal law; freeworld relationships can't last while your significant other is doing time). She had contacted my family and somehow they coordinated a trip from CO to AL for my release date. They were even at the prison to greet me as I walked through the back gate. One of the most surreal days of my life. I got to spend the first week as a free man with my, now 4 yr old, Lyric. It was genuinely like we never missed a beat but instead picked up right where we left off...except without all the hysterical crying (only the happy crying).
When they flew back to Denver I had hopes of transferring my probation to Colorado so I could continue being a father to Lyric and start making up for everything I'd missed during my state-sponsored vacation. Those plans came to a screeching halt when I learned about all the ridiculous (yes, THAT word again) stipulations of making that happen. I either A) needed to have immediate family living in Denver or B) needed to be married to someone living in Denver.
I know what you're thinking...having a child is considered "immediate family" right? Well here's the shittiest of all shitty things about this unfortunate situation:  I was literally a fugitive from justice when Lyric was born and, as a measure of caution, did not put my name on her birth certificate. I know, I know. It's fucking awful but that's what happened. **Side note:  I did, however, fill out the proper paperwork while in prison to be added but for some brilliant reason her mom never filed it and subsequently fail off the face of the earth.
I kept trying to figure out ways to be in Lyric's life. Marrying her mom was never an option and I'll spare you the details of why and just say that our relationship was an unhealthy spiral of doom and regret and the absolute last thing Lyric needed in her life. For the record, I don't subscribe to the philosophy of "staying together for the kids". That's a bullshit philosophy. But I still kept trying to figure it out. I even tried to get "fake married" to a longtime  Denver homegirl just so I could move there to be close to Lyric. While that would've been understandable and totally worth it, I just couldn't go through with it. Just didn't feel right and I needed to get my life in order before I started making desperate decisions like that. Then Nerves Baddington was born and the rest is pretty much history.
After multiple fallouts with Lyric's mom which included false accusations of sending her "fake money orders" among other irrationally immature arguments, I found myself resorting back to that ol' prison survival tactic of accepting the fact that I can't control some things...only now I'm on the OUTSIDE but still (up until now) have felt circumstantially powerless as they hold my lack of LEGAL fatherly rights over my head as some sort of twisted torture device.
I've seen Lyric exactly twice in the 4+ years I've been home. Once in Birmingham and once in Denver and both times at least 4 years ago. A third attempt was made, in April of 2014, when my ever-so-rad and wonderful girlfriend Melanie and I drove all day and night to Denver just to be denied a simple visit with my Lyric. It crushed me. No words can describe the pain of being denied seeing your daughter after driving 24 hours straight. I felt like I had no choice but to give up until the universe (or whatever) grants me with an opportunity to go through the proper legal channels to access my fatherly rights. The time is now and I feel I need to strike while the proverbial iron is hot, so to speak. Obviously this is not going to be easy or inexpensive. I'm going to have to hire lawyers that practice law in Colorado. There will be much travel cost and tests and paperwork and...you name it. But it's all possible and could actually become feasible with a little love and assistance from friends and family.
I spoke with Lyric for the first time in over a year on Father's Day '17. Sincerely the best Father's Day I've ever had since joining The Club. My birthday falls around Father's Day every year and my dad passed away in 2003. Without fail since 2010 each year around this time my brain automatically goes into a very dark place. Not this year though. This has been the happiest week since...as long as I can remember and I can't help but think my dad would be just as excited as I am.
As happy as I am about this newly-fast-developing relationship with my amazing, now 8 yr old, Lyric, I also can't help but be genuinely concerned about her living situation. Since her mom has been the one keeping her from me, it wasn't until her recently "hitting bottom" and disappearing for a few weeks that Lyric actually mustered the courage and ability to find a way to contact me. I've talked to Lyric's grandmother, whose sister (Lyric's great aunt), passed away the same week her daughter had a meltdown and vanished. Apparently CPS has been involved for some time now but I honestly don't know a lot of details as to why or what's going on. Lyric is currently living with her grandmother and is seemingly in good spirits although she's a bit devastated about the whole thing. She wants to come to Birmingham but they (Lyric's mom/grandmother) have been very vocal about how that'd never be a possibility.
Until I go through the aforementioned "proper legal channels" the odds are severely stacked against me.
Which leads me to asking what you - my friends and fam - think about me starting a gofundme campaign to raise money to make this thing happen.
People often turn their nose up when others take to platforms like gofundme to ask for help. What do YOU think? Is this something worth going all out for? I think so but I'd like some input and/or reassurance here.

FALCONS at JETS
1 p.m., Ch. 5, Falcons by 4½, 46½
HANK’S HONEYS: Give Todd Bowles credit for having his team still in the playoff hunt after minimal expectations, but that push could soon become a pipe dream. Not sure what’s wrong with Falcons offense lately — Kyle Shanahan is missed for sure — but if they suddenly wake up, this is a bad matchup for the Jets. Jets D presents Falcons with perfect opportunity to get back on track, primarily because they give up so many big plays. Jets don’t rush the passer very well and that will allow Matt Ryan to get the ball down the field. The Jets have been a bettor’s darling at 4-2-1 ATS but after back-to-back heartbreakers, take the MVP caliber QB, RB, and WR against a below average defense all day long.
IF I WERE A BETTING MAN: Falcons and the over.
CHARGERS at PATRIOTS
1 p.m., Patriots by 7½, 48½
HANK’S HONEYS: Red-hot Chargers have won three straight on the strength of their pass rush with Chris McCain, Melvin Ingram and Joey Bosa (21 sacks between them). Best way to nullify Tom Brady is to let him know he’s getting hit and Pats have had problems with communication along the O-line. Brady has made adjustments by getting ball out quicker but Bolts play in-your-face man defense that will make that tougher. Question is do you think Pats’ defense turned the corner? Philip Rivers is more than capable here and he’s played well in Foxborough before. Chargers have kept things close in three of their four losses.

49ERS at EAGLES
1 p.m., Eagles by 13, 46
Give Todd Bowles credit for having his team still in the playoff hunt after minimal expectations.

HANK’S HONEYS: Big spread here with Eagles possibly ripe for a letdown after a big divisional win Monday night. Niners, though, appear to be running out of emotional gas after getting beat up by the Cowboys. Losing takes its toll. So does a second cross-country trip in three weeks and another 10 a.m. Pacific time kickoff. Eagles will miss Jason Peters at LT but not necessarily here against Niners’ mediocre pass rush. And if Carson Wentz has time, his big arm should continue to find receivers downfield. Niners can keep this relatively close by pounding Carlos Hyde, their one offensive bright spot. Eagles, however, stop the run fairly well. Given S.F. ’s dysfunctional QB situation, that could lead to this getting out of hand in a hurry.

COWBOYS at WASHINGTON
4:25 p.m., Ch. 5, Cowboys by 2, 50½
HANK’S HONEYS: Cowboys came out fresh and strong after their bye and look ready to go on a roll, banking wins as long as they have Ezekiel Elliott. Washington’s defense has been slipping, even had problems containing Niners. Washington, on a short week, came out of the Eagles game banged up on O-line, including LT Trent Williams and OG Brandon Scherff, with just one starter healthy. Dallas D-front had five sacks last week. Best way to combat Cowboys is to run the ball but Washington has problems doing it. These games are always close but with the line under a field goal, go with the probable winner and that’s the Boys. Esoteric trend: Visiting team has won last six ATS.
IF I WERE A BETTING MAN: Cowboys and the over.
BEARS at SAINTS
1 p.m. Saints by 9, 47½
HANK’S HONEYS: Nothing against the Bears defense. They’ve been great. They’ve also been responsible for a good portion of the Bears’ points as opposing QBs struggle. Not here. Like last week against Brett Hundley, this is another QB mismatch in favor of Drew Brees. Plus, it’s at home, where Saints can get away from teams in a hurry. This is no place for Mitch Trubisky to be playing catchup and that’s the kind of game the Saints make you play. Saints seem to have picked it up after a slow start, particularly on defense. Bears are 3-8 ATS in their last 11 road games.
LeSean McCoy may struggle to gain yards against a tough Raiders run defense.

STEELERS at LIONS
8:30 p.m., Ch. 4, Steelers by 3, 45½
HANK’S HONEYS: Lions are a good team gone bad. Steelers have found their groove only to face new locker room drama with Martavis Bryant’s Instagram benching. Matt Stafford needed the bye week to rest his ailing ankle. But he’ll likely be missing his top receiver, Golden Tate, and can his battered O-line protect him against a team with 24 sacks, second in league? No team gives up fewer passing yards than Pittsburgh. Detroit D averages over two turnovers a game and Ben Roethlisberger tends to throw INTs on road. Steelers have won eight of last nine SU in Detroit where Le’Veon Bell and Antonio Brown have college homecomings.
IF I WERE A BETTING MAN: Steelers and the over.
TEXANS at SEAHAWKS
4:05 p.m., Ch. 2, Seahawks by 6, 45½
HANK’S HONEYS: Seahawks have come back from slow starts before and they look like their championship pedigree is ready to come through as they make second-half push. Deshaun Watson has to go on road against a tough defense. Biggest criticism of Watson is that he holds onto the ball too long and the Seattle secondary can cover man-to-man as well as any team. Onus is on Texans to run the ball effectively, another tall order against this D. Houston defense has problems when it can’t get to the QB (23rd in passing yards allowed) and with the Texans missing their two best pass rushers, Russell Wilson’s mobility will play a factor. Red flag is that Texans went into snake pit in Foxborough and covered. Not twice. IF I WERE A BETTING MAN: Seahawks and the over.
RAIDERS at BILLS
1 p.m., Bills by 3, 45½
(New York Daily News)
HANK’S HONEYS: Who needs Marshawn Lynch? Not the offense the Raiders put on display last Thursday night. Derek Carr came up with a big night against the Chiefs with drop-prone Amari Cooper finally busting out. While the Bills’ defense has been coming up with interceptions, it’s also allowed a string of 300-yard passers. The way the Raiders beat the Chiefs could propel them on a winning streak. Bills’ offense is centered on Shady McCoy and the Raiders have a top-flight run defense that will force Tyrod Taylor to make plays to keep up with Carr. Raiders are 5-0 ATS on last five trips to Western New York.

BRONCOS at CHIEFS
Mon., ESPN, 8:30 p.m., Chiefs by 7, 43
HANK’S HONEYS: Big number for divisional game where the favored Chiefs have lost two straight. But so has Denver and in more alarming fashion. Trevor Siemian has been exposed by the Giants and Chargers’ defenses and the Broncos, who will be missing Emmanuel Sanders again, have scored 10 points in those two games. K.C. may have hit a bump in the road but Alex Smith continues to play well. Chiefs are 3-7 ATS in last 10 home games against Broncos but Denver had Peyton Manning in several of those. Andy Reid seldom loses two straight games, let alone three. His team really needs a win and should bounce back in a big way this week.
IF I WERE A BETTING MAN: Chiefs and the under.
COLTS at BENGALS
1 p.m. Bengals by 10, 41½
HANK’S HONEYS: Yes, it’s a lot of points but Colts have failed to cover in three previous road games this year and are allowing an NFL-worst 31.7 ppg while stagnating on offense. They seem to be getting worse every week and with Chuck Pagano’s days already numbered, they have the look of a dead team walking. Bengals don’t inspire a lot of confidence but they have to be in a bad mood after flopping in Pittsburgh. Before that, Andy Dalton was playing pretty well. He’ll be looking for A.J. Green in a mismatch against the Indy secondary, which continues to give up big plays.
Expect Julio Jones and Matt Ryan to have a field day against the Jets.

HANK’S HONEYS: Neither team has earned much trust although Panthers would appear to be the more mentally tough team. Nevertheless, Bucs’ season is on the line here and the Panthers O-line has issues. While Panthers come off a bad loss at Soldier Field, they did outgain the Bears on the day and Cam Newton rates an edge against the Tampa Bay secondary. No telling how Jameis Winston will play and whether he’ll continue to make boneheaded decisions. Trends favor the visitors. Bucs are 1-4 ATS in their last five games in the NFC. Panthers are 6-2 both SU and ATS in their last eight visits to Raymond James Stadium.

I was happy when I could finally show him like this since I've always wanted him in this form ever since OG. But I fumbled the timing of his entrance, plus I also had the idea of putting Amon first in the auction hall. Next to him are two Dobermans. I hope I’ll be able to draw animals better.

The cover of :re volume 3 features Takizawa and Hinami. I like it because of how disturbing it looks. I drew this Takizawa nibbling on his fingers by underlying the drawing of him from the last page of :re volume 2. (...if I remember right!)
Auction x Audition The various squad members who appeared in the Auction Raid were recruited through a “Recruiting investigators!” type of project that the general public could apply for via collaboration with the part-time job magazine “an”. Originally I wanted to pick one person and have them appear for a bit before killing them off in the end. What ended up happening was that about six thousand-ish applied, though I looked at everyone and picked from there. Hairdressers seemed to have a high acceptance rate, might be because they’re good at styling themselves and taking pictures? Also Numa Jun-kun, who’s aiming to be a comedian, is being called onto T.V. every once in a while. He’s contacted me and asked me to watch his skits, though every time I see it I feel he’ll do just fine...yup, do your best.
Operation status (at the time of magazine publication) ...anyways, every week the squad members would get injured, and with Owl showing up the situation changed, creating a very hectic environment to develop the plot. At any rate I had to somehow make the 20 investigators from “an” appear in the story...now that I think about it I have no clue why I tried to do that. I was asked to write down a status report of the dead, injured, etc. I created a draft of the design every week, thought of what content to include...I thought making something like that would be interesting, so readers could look at it while reading the manga. But when the volume was being edited, rather than being omitted from the page it was relevant to, it appeared halfway through the chapter, and as a result it became even more confusing to follow. (As an aside, I tried to request that it be brought back in the digital version as the original, but I don’t know if it will?)
Side story JOKER At the end of volume 3 of :re there is a one-shot about Juuzou, who’s become an associate special class investigator, investigating together with Hanbee. This was published while I was drawing OG volumes 13 and 14, and oh! It was published by Shounen Jump. They asked if I could draw a one-shot for Jump. One Punch Man also did something similar and the survey results turned out well, so they thought it would be good for my series. “Makes sense,” I thought, but at the time I was very busy and had absolutely no interest in it since the one-shot would force me to not include any spoilers. If spoilers were allowed I would’ve agreed to draw it. But when I was talking to my editor a light bulb went off in my head and I came to the revelation: “What if I write about Juuzou in the future?” I was still in the stages of drawing OG, and I thought if Tokyo Ghoul readers read it they would think,” What’s this supposed to mean?” and Juuzou would be able to pique the interest of even first-time readers. I drew more than 30 pages of manuscripts while running a weekly series at the same time, wondering if I should’ve just called it quits even though I was the one who came up with the idea. Though the survey results didn’t turn out well at all.

The cover of :re volume 4. Tsukiyama and Kanae. I also really like the illustration of these two. I was addicted to putting vivid pink on deathly pale skin. However, the characters’ complexions seem to slowly be getting worse and worse.

Hairu. She had already been slaughtered at the time of drawing this illustration. And then, my unfulfilled love for Hairu began to simmer and boil over... Is this...the type of girl I like...?

The cover of :re volume 5. Haise with Eto by his side. Their complexions are deathly pale here too. I forget what I was trying to do here, but I was so busy those days that I couldn’t finish this illustration. I remember I had a difficult time drawing because I wasn’t in good condition. (Was that when I was working on JAIL by any chance?) Kijima’s death is depicted in this volume. I was eating cheese when I was drawing the “I want to eat cheese” panel. After hearing the amazing “I want to eat cheese” moment in the anime, it makes me glad I drew it. You can tell Furuta was drawn to look like a good person at first before his true character was revealed. There were a lot of panels I liked art-wise, such as the scene where Noro obliterated the investigators, and the two-page spread of Kanae playing the violin.
