The greatest injustice ever faced is that I almost certainly started the still thriving "clown husbandry" tag on here, but any discussion about it (from a know your meme page to a youtube video with 500k views) says it's a joke of "unknown origin" or credited to this post, likely bouncing off of mine (which was actively circulating at the time with like 30k notes):
Tumblr media
This is a tragedy for many reasons, most of all because it wasn't just an offhand joke but actually a direct response to some of the funniest online hate I ever got:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
They're erasing the truest history of tumblr: its desperate need to seethe and argue over every obvious joke with more than 10 notes.
anyways here is the canonical pet clown. according to me

So I'm leaving work and something darts in front of me, maybe 10ft away, too fast for me to see what it is. Peek around the tree blocking my path and I see this
Tumblr media
Just like... a whole ass hawk. Dude's gotta be about 1.5ft tall. Massive fucking bird. And it's just staring me straight in my soul like this, even as I try to move ahead. It didn't budge. And there's only this path back to my car unless I want to walk on a busy highway. So I have the option of Death By Raptor or Death By Truck.
So I walk in the poison ivy filled patch off the sidewalk. Guy still isn't moving. Still staring me directly in the eyes. And I do this thing when animals are behaving strangely where I'll talk to them, so I'm just like, "Hey, man. I don't know you. You don't know me. This feels really threatening. I'm just trying to get to my car, dude. Can I get some space please? You're a big fucking bird. I see those claws. You could kill me right now, but I'd appreciate if you didn't, ok?"
It didn't move until I was about 2ft away. Again: I'm as far from it as I can be without walking into the street. It clearly wasn't going to budge. I walk past, thing flies up (silent, btw. Scary) and lands on a brick wall a little further ahead
Tumblr media
Anyway. Weird guy. Nearly shit my pants when I noticed a bird big enough to carry off a fully grown cat was just... there, staring me in the face, unwilling to move away from me, a human, something it should see as a threat. I watched behind me the whole rest of the way to my car, just in case this bird decided to help me shed this mortal coil. 10/10 experience. Super cool guy.

As a cishet lady, this is probably due to how the big reveal plays out, and how all the characters are presented (I’ve had only one DA:I playthrough so far and romanced Blackwall, but I've watched other romance routes, so I have a basic info on how they go).
First of all, Blackwall’s guilt is at the forefront, and it isn’t the case with the other two guys. Solas’ main alluring characteristic could be that he seems mysterious. He knows a lot of things, and has a direct link to the Inquisitor as a sort-of their mentor when it comes to controlling the anchor. Is he guilt-ridden? He is, but he bails before the end of the game, so we don’t have a lot of possibility to confront him before Tresspasser, and then it turns out that he’s an elven god. Or at least, that he’s immensely powerful. He’s done something terrible, but he believed it to be a right choice and that it’ll serve greater good, so there’s at least some redeeming quality to him playing god. He’s revealed to be a liar and a villain, but a sympathetic one. Also, the fact that he’s older fits neatly into some prevalent romance tropes connected to power dynamics - the Inquisitor is technically his boss, but Solas is more knowledgeable, in case of mages almost making it a teacher/student situation that some people may enjoy.
As for Cullen, he’s first and foremost overworked, not guilty. He’s the commander of your troops, and if anything happens, he has to be there. He also seems to be most conventionally attractive of the three. There’s surprisingly little about Cullen’s past in the Inquisition. As with all three advisors, his feature is reliability - they’re the spine of the Inquisition. Cullen’s past, and his guilt isn’t his defining feature - nobody comments on it (if I’m right, not even Varric! who have definitely met his worse version during the events from DA2). Him struggling with his addiction to lyrium is framed as a background of an important choice, and as a piece of worldbuilding. It's an opportunity to discuss the many faults of templar order as an institution, and the fate of people damaged by it, but it's hardly a big, striking reveal. If his actions, and his redemption is really powered by guilt, it isn’t apparent when viewed out of context of the previous installments. Nobody is actually going after him for his deeds, or reminding him of his service under Meredith. The Inquisition’s reputation isn’t threatened in any way by having him as an almost poster boy. He’s generally respected inside and outside of the Inquisition and to be fair I know the least about his romance but it seems to be pretty stable and consistent. If played right it won’t have a breakup and it definitely lacks a spectacular betrayal, like the other two.
But Blackwall? It’s an entirely different situation. Blackwall’s characterisation, especially in his romance is lined with guilt. He’s lying, but contrary to Solas, he has no inherent air of authority about him - the first thing you know about him is that he’s efficient, and ready to fight and die for others, which is in the area of expectations for a Grey Warden. Grey Wardens are usually respected, but they’re suited for a different kind of emergency. In fact, he seems like a stereotypical Grey Warden to the point when if you don’t take him with you and don’t listen to his banters, he’s easy to overlook and seems fairly one-dimensional.
He isn’t tied to the main quest in such a significant way as Solas and Cullen. His real identity isn’t even the one of an extreme power and ancient sins - it’s a plain crime, an evil deed so evident and revealed so early in the game that everybody is forced to confront it and has time to chew on it. And also You, the Inquisitor, are forced to confront it!
Contrary to Solas, who essentially through the Anchor and his magic in the end has power over you, you have power - and issue judgement - over Blackwall. At the moment of his reveal, all what was initially admirable and built public respect around him is irreversibly gone, and what is left is a weird mix of cowardice, courage and the will to amend. Many people in-game treat sparing him as a mistake and he has to essentially build everything from the ground up. Even during the romance, before the reveal he remarks multiple times that the Inquisitor is going to regret it long-term. Dude is regret personified.
Now, as far as romance goes, this is an extremely interesting route, but I believe that initially, this lack of a clear plot hook that'd bring him and the Inquisitor together and the fact that Blackwall fades into background so easily makes it unpopular. And after a playthrough, people may be discouraged due to the fact that his reveal is a really big deal - treated as something serious by everyone, and it’s an ugly, down-to-earth issue in comparison with Solas’ faults.
Subjective opinions on looks: DA:I has a really terrible texture for dark hair. This beard would have been working for his advantage, if it didn’t seem so weirdly slick and oily in some lightings. Looking at the general preferences, the fact that he seems like he’s unslept, unkempt, mildly unwashed and generally slightly deranged isn’t really an issue? You can’t tell me most of these characteristic don’t apply to Anders, and he has a fair share of fans. Blackwall’s base armor happens to be a padded jack, which also blurs his silhouette to the point where he seems of somewhat thicker build than the rest of the characters, it’s also fairly popular fanon interpretation. However, I don’t really think this is an issue either? DA LIs don’t have too much of a body shape difference among themselves anyway and it differentiates him nicely from a bald beanpole that is Solas and an underwear model that is Cullen.
TL;DR: Blackwall is considered either unremarkable or problematic (or even, both) in-game and it’s probably the main reason why he’s overlooked. Due to the difference in his role in the plot to the two remaining guys and due to his approach to his past, he may also seem the least charismatic of the three. I believe his looks are not as important as this.
I genuinely, maybe it's the lesbianism showing, but I genuinely can't tell what distinguishes blackwall from cullen and solas that cullen and solas get all the attention and blackwall gets next to none. what is it. they're all straight white men. blackwall and solas are both old so it can't be that. blackwall and cullen both have that regret/redemption narrative going on. blackwall and solas both lie poorly about their identity. blackwall and cullen have both killed children. so what is it! is it the facial hair! is blackwall being dtf dwarves and qunari a turnoff somehow? remember, blackwall was going to be it before they added two more straight white men as a hail mary in the final quarter. the cullen and solas girlies were going to have to settle for bull or blackwall. I don't get it.

people seriously pretending EEAAO is overrated suddenly bc it swept awards? it swept awards largely because it is very very very good. I cried like someone who's just had a religious revelation BOTH times I watched it bc it touched something raw and real and beautiful but it was also just very, very funny. everyone's performance kills and the concept is creative and interesting and doesn't distract from the emotional core. you guys are just contrarian.

taking all my american followers by the shoulders. listen to me. just because you have a more promising candidate now doesn't mean you just assume it's going to be fine and don't bother voting. assuming trump wasn't going to win is how you got here in the first place so you go out and fucking vote for harris and give everyone a fighting chance.
also if you're still in the 'they're both as bad as eachother' delirium, please take your head out from between your cheeks and consider that your options are an imperfect president and the literal worst person alive who is going to get masses of people killed. i've said it like this before, but it's like deciding between maybe getting food poisoning or definitely having a brain aneurysm. take your pick i guess but don't be surprised when you drop dead.

Part two of the reverse verse is here! The reverse boys meet the original boys. They're not really getting along as well as I had hoped...
Again, this was a commission for @i-am-as-normal-as-you-are and they asked for angst/funny vibes... I think it's mostly just angst though. Oh, well...
Part one
#dead boy detectives#dbda#payneland#edwin x charles#reverse verse#there's a lot i could say about this one#the idea of someone telling edwin he's go to hell is absurd as it is#edwin telling edwin? lmao#the charles... oh they hate each other#reverse charles is angry (he always is) because this other version of himself was spared hell... in exchange for edwin going there?#obviously it doesn't work like that. og charles hadn't even been born when his edwin was sent to hell#but anger is not a rational thing. especially not for this boy#og charles? you don't want to know what he's thinking#i'm telling you anyways#he... kind of agrees. if someone had to go to hell#why edwin? why not him? there is an universe in which that happened#so why not this one? unfair#then again... look at this charles who did go to hell#he's explosive. he's DANGEROUS#he shouldn't be near edwin#if og charles had gone to hell would he be the same? would he be too angry to be trusted? would he be like his father?#and if so would that really count as saving edwin at all?#if this is the kind of best friend poor edwin would end up with?#on a happier note though#physical contact!! reverse charles loves it#i don't have all the details but his hell was on the rage ring so it was different to the dollhouse.#and it was a very violent place so boy loves gentle touches#luckily edwin is more willing to give them to him with each year#i think what the edwins are feeling is a lot more clear#but still would love to hear your thoughts

I just think it's really neat how much fans have latched onto the fact that Stephanie Brown was Robin.
Like, both in and out of universe Stephanie was never meant to be taken seriously as Robin. The writers only made her Robin so that her death in War Games would be shocking and Bruce only made her Robin because he thought it would make Tim jealous enough to come back. She only had the mantle for 71 days before being fired (for doing something that literally every other Robin has also done and not been fired over), and she was only active during 50 of them. There are only six issues where Steph is Robin in the canon timeline.
Her final words before her death are asking Batman (Batman, because even on her death bed he doesn't trust her enough to take off his mask) if any of it was real. Was she really Robin? And Batman assures her that of course she was, that she was part of the legend and no one can take it away from her. Except it's a lie, because despite his reassurances, Batman never puts up a memorial or does anything to preserve her memory. He never really thinks of her as Robin, and even her friends will always think of her as Spoiler before ever remembering Robin.
Meanwhile DC spent years ignoring her time as Robin, to the point where it was completely erased from existence for awhile. It's technically back now, because timelines are weird, but unlike the others it's never been altered. She's never been given a second chance at it, no one's ever gone back and added more issues or details about those 71 days, or even seems to want to acknowledge them most of the time.
But fans have clung on to it anyway. Sure, there are lots of people who make Robin posts that are just about the boys, but there are just as many people who are ready to fight anyone who doesn't include her. Maybe it was only for a little while, but she was Robin, and we're sure as hell not going to forget it. If DC isn't going to bother to remember, than we will.
Stephanie Brown was Robin. She was part of the legend. It was real. No matter what, no one can take that away from her.

As Good as Good Gets (DP X DC Snippet)
Richard "Dick" Grayson is the golden child. In the eyes of the public, and in the eyes of the league. Dick is a sweet, caring son, a man who went from being a sidekick to being a hero. The pipeline from Robin to Nightwing had many people applauding his dedication to keeping Gotham safe.
No one knew the full story, not truly. No one but Bruce Wayne himself. And maybe a certain butler. Many don't know that Dick only became Robin to stop him from hunting down and killing the man who killed his parents.
No one really knows about the harsh fights and arguments he has had with Bruce. The times when Dick would find himself cut off from the Wayne name for a week or so. No one knows that the first person Dick warmed up to was Alfred. Having been bribed with cookies.
Things weren't always this good, trusting, happy relationship between Bruce and Dick. It had been a rough ride, a complicated one. But that was okay, because it got better.
Dick stopped being so moody and angsty. He grew up, he learned, and he changed. He became an older brother, found people that needed him. Needed him in a way that the citizens of Gotham didn't need him.
His brothers like to call him annoying. A goody two shoes who Bruce trusted more than everyone else. They couldn't fathom how someone like Dick could be so stupid and bubbly at all times.
All times, except when shit hits the fans. Despite the name calling, despite coining Dick as the stupid Wayne. They all knew better. They knew that when it mattered, Dick Grayson always pulled through. He was a force to be reckoned with when needed.
The whole Wayne family was a force to be reckoned with when called for. It didn't have to be under the guise of costumes and vigilante acts. Whether he was Officer Grayson or Nightwing, Dick was a man with his morals and values.
One night on patrol as Officer Grayson, Dick found someone who needed that force. A force willing to protect and care for the innocent. The hurt. The damaged, yet still good.
It started like any other night. A call of shots fired by an empty warehouse. There was no sighting or knowledge of any rouges being there, so Dick took the call. Told the team he'll contact them if it seems more than just a civilian incident.
The warehouse was dark, reeked of copper and oil. It didn't take long for Dick to find the trail. The liquid he found looked like the person had been dragged before walking. There was a clear struggle, even with the mess and emptiness that was the warehouse.
That wasn't Dick's biggest concern. The concern lay in just how much blood there was. Too much for any normal person to lose and still manage to stumble through the warehouse.
It wasn't just blood. It wasn't that much, but Dick could spot the strangeness in the liquid. The mixed in green that had an eerily similar color and glow as a certain pit.
Without thinking, Dick followed the trail. Barely remembering to make contact with his family. Give them an update on what he found. Words telling him to stay put for backup went in one ear and out the other.
Something in Dick's gut was telling him he couldn't wait. He needed to find the source. Whoever was currently bleeding out in this warehouse. He silenced the comm, moving further through the dimly lit building.
Then Dick found it. Or more so, he found him. It was just a boy. A boy that reminded Dick too much of the youngest Wayne. A boy sat against a wall, looking pale and weak.
Red and green coated the front of the boy's shirt, arms wrapped tightly around his middle. An attempt to stem the bleeding. A puddle had already started to form beneath the boy, and Dick moved without thinking once again.
He quickly found himself kneeling beside the boy, hands carefully reaching out. Before Dick even touched him, the boy flinched. Eyelids suddenly opened, wide and terrified blue eyes landed on Dick's.
In just that one look, Dick knew what he had to do. The haunting, terrified, and pained look in the boy's eyes told Dick everything he needed to know. The boy was in danger. Someone had hurt this kid, and it was clear it wasn't the first time.
The boy struggled weakly against Dick's touch, terrified whimpers, and barely coherent pleas spilled from the kid's lips. It had Dick's heart aching, clear as day the poor kid has been through hell and back.
It took a lot of reassurance, gentle touches, and promises of help before the kid let Dick take a look at the bleeding wound. A promise on Dick's soul had been the final thing that earned him any semblance of trust. A strange promise, but Dick was willing to make it.
That concern turned to pure anger the moment Dick managed to pull the sticky shirt away from the wound. The sight of a Y-incision cut perfectly into the skin, stitches tight on the skin, but blood still leaking heavily from the wound.
It didn't take long for Dick to realize why. Despite the perfect surgical care of the wound, a good couple of stitches had broken. Leaving gaping spots for that red and green liquid to pour out of.
The boy was deathly silent, tears streaking down his cheek as wide blue eyes stayed trained on Dick. In that moment, Dick knew he had to help. Had to get the kid to safety, patch him up, and find out what kind of monster would do this.
It didn't matter if the kid was human or not. It didn't matter if the kid had special abilities or not. No one, absolutely no one, deserved to be vivisected.
The kid was shrouded in mystery, but that mystery only seemed to grow and become clearer when Bruce had entered the scene. The boy had tensed, eyes flashing a bright glowing green.
Lazarus pit green.
It set a pit of dread in Dick's gut. His mind brings forward memories of Jason. Jason, after his revival, after his dip in that cursed pit. The same flash that his brother would get if he got too angry. Too emotional.
As much as Dick wanted to focus on finding who did this, if it had any connection to Ra's al Ghul. He couldn't. Not when the kid tried to get up, to pull away as Bruce and the others made their way closer.
Right now, Dick only cared about making sure the boy was okay. Fixing those stitches, getting him a meal, and a warm bed.
He needed to get this kid someplace where he felt safe and secure. Comfortable and protected. Dick wasn't sure why. Maybe it was the promise he had made, but he wasn't letting anyone get to the kid.
That included his family. As strange as it seemed, Dick put himself between the others and the kid. Shooting them all a glare that they had only ever seen a handful of times.
Dick lifted the poor boy up in his arms, cradling the crying child close as he led the way out of the warehouse. Ignoring the questions or confusion coming from Bruce and the others. As Dick walked, feeling the trembling boy clinging to him, he made a rather obvious realization.
Maybe the eldest son really was more like Bruce than he expected. Just a few short moments the the boy, a boy that Dick didn't know his name, and he was ready to pull out adoption papers. To give the boy a safety he so desperately needs.
Give him the chance that Bruce had given him all those years ago.
