What moments are you most excited to write in the future of your fic? I'm excited for when hiccup finds his mom. I have a feeling stoick's reaction will be gutting.

i don’t want to spoil😭but i really want to answer this, so potential spoilers ahead:

firstly, i cannot wait for when Astrid finally gets her hands on Hiccup and he can’t escape her. she’s slowly going insane now that circumstances keep ripping him away when she’s ready to confront him, so in ch.78 you’ll get to see her plan to fix that😏

as many people have already guessed, some of our favorite reformed villains will be getting their redemptions in rptr too, so i am very excited to write Stoick realizing that Alvin is actually a ride or die for Hiccup in the present day

this isn’t a huge spoiler, but Midnight Scrum will still be happening to some extent and i cannot wait to write Stoick and Gobber and Spitelout and Gothi and the teens and basically everyone. all our favorite kidnapping moments will be happening

i’m also pretty excited for you guys to see how i plan on adapting rtte, because it’s true that most of it takes place far away from berk, so how is hiccup going to get there???🤔

GGGOD I WISH I WASN’T OUT OF THE HOUSE RIGHT NOW. but i’ve been thinking about colors literally all day so you all get to be subject to my madness! sorry this is long and rambly wauaua. nightmarishly long post under the cut.

okay. first things first, a few basics. color theory and color psychology tend to get confused a lot in discussions, but they usually refer to different things. color theory is more about we physically perceive colors (color wheels and color schemes the like), while color psychology focuses on our emotional response to colors. if you’re familiar with the children’s hospital color theory post, that poster wasn’t actually talking about color theory, but color psychology (and also it’s incredibly surface level and heavily misunderstands the subject because in what fucking universe does the quantity of positive associations with a color matter more than the context it’s used in and sorry i have personal beef with this tumblr post).

color theory is also a special interest of mine but i’m not gonna touch on it too much here because it’s not entirely important. mmmaybe another time…

essentially, certain colors (and color combinations) have associations in our brains and that affect our behavior and emotions. these associations are also very much affected by the context a color is used in. colors don’t exist in a vacuum! so while red can symbolize passion and love when used in something like a dress or a bouquet of flowers, it has a very different connotation when it’s, say, splattered on the walls or smeared on the ground in a snail trail.

or for a less Children’s Hospital Themed example, i’ll put my euphrasie and king designs here!

(of course the saturation and brightness of these blues play a massive part in how they’re perceived but this is not a post about color theory this is n)

and, of course, combining colors in a piece can also change their meanings!! i’m about to get real fucking normal.

i’m gonna be focusing on the color combo of red and yellow here because it’s the one that’s most relevant to my art (and also it’s really interesting.) basically, seeing these two colors together activates the part of our brain that controls our appetite, making us actually feel hungry. this is why so many food companies use red and yellow in their branding! it’s neat stuff!!

also, if you’re familiar with it, this is why the mv for butcher vanity uses this color palette!! along with red’s general associations with danger and blood, the color combo also physically induces hunger. pretty fitting for a song about cannibalism!

(there is also red’s association with lust and passion and how that intersects with the double meaning in the lyrics but i cannot derail this post into being an analysis of butcher vanity i’m sorry. we’d be here all week. maybe another day... wipes a tear from my eye)

and i think this might be the reason why some people feel hungry when they see my art, even when i’m not drawing food. while i don’t tend to use red outright, most of my art has very warm undertones (red-oranges and yellows especially), which could be activating that hunger response??

admittedly this part is just speculation on my end. i think my rendering style and Shapes also play a role in it, but it’s interesting for me to think about!!

this is only scratching the surface of how complicated colors can get. i was going to go on an entire tangent about color grading and how green lighting can make a scene feel unnerving but this post is already Too Fucking Long. aaaa super sorry if this is Rambly or hard to understand!! i’m not Entirely sure how much the average person knows about color theory and psychology so if there’s any confusing terms here i’m fine with adding stuff for clarity!

tl;dr colors have a bunch of different emotions and meanings tied to them, but you’ve gotta pay attention to the context in which it’s being used. so maybe take a step back before you put that thick red trail on the floor of your children’s hospital.

I’ve been wondering if maybe Ortiz’s plan to split up the 118 will actually play out in some fashion - that after Eddie leaves we’ll see the 118 being divided up in some way (perhaps Gerrards cast iron plumbing isn’t so cast iron and causes the 118 to flood and need to be refitted so everyone gets temporarily reassigned) and Buck doesn’t take this well - on top of Eddie leaving. So instead of reverting to Buck 1.0 who sleeps around, we actually get the Buck 1.0 who went travelling - that he’s going to literally run in an attempt to escape the feelings he’s feeling - that his abandonment issues will manifest in him abandoning his firefam and actual family (as in the Hans) before they can ‘also abandon him’.

That we’ll see buck on the road and that will lead to him realising he’s in love with Eddie and end up with him turning up in El Paso - without a plan but needing to see Eddie - and confessing his feelings.

My two cents on the new elements “discourse” (for lack of a better term I don’t think it’s actually that controversial afsgdfgd) is that if the elements of harmony can be called elements then so can literally anything else

Also there’s a whole conversation to be had about how ninjago has historically just done whatever tf it wants with its magic system. And this isn’t even the first time we’ve had “elements” that aren’t really elements. It’s just the name of the magic system and it’d be weird and confusing to call them something different.

the gorgug-porter conversation is interesting to me because like. yea for the overwhelming majority of the conversation porter’s being shitty & trying to fit gorgug into a box that gorgug just does not fit into by trying to make gorgug’s relationship with his rage more focused on the aggression aspect of it. but then there’s also this specific thing that brennan brought up again in the ap, which is that gorgug’s relationship with his rage is wholly “this is a tool i use to protect my friends.” which isn’t a bad thing! but that’s his Whole relationship with it, & gorgug seems to place next to no value on his rage in relationship to himself. which is problematic, because it’s first & foremost his rage.

being raised in a household with a sort of toxic positivity largely meant that, whether or not it was his parents’ intention, gorgug internalized the message that more traditionally “negative” emotions such as anger are the wrong response to something. part of the reason he prioritizes his artificing is probably because it’s “fixing” things. in comparison to being a barbarian, which gorgug associates with “breaking” things. good vs. bad behavior, in his eyes.

it’s a totally unacceptable bar to measure a 16 y/o by, but i do think part of porter’s reasoning for not letting gorgug multiclass is him recognizing that gorgug generally does not value anger as a valid emotional response to something, at the very least for himself. & that directly conflicts with what being a barbarian is, because whether you like it or not, that rage is what fuels you. but again, barring a kid from pursuing something they deeply care about in part (not entirely, porter has a lot of more bullshit reasons) because of their fundamental values & world outlook is crazy.

so yes, 98% of porter’s reasoning is pretty shitty, immature, rife with a toxic view that there’s only one proper way to access rage, & generally not a good thing to do as a teacher, but also within that reasoning is the 2% of ‘there is a fundamental part of yourself that you only value if you can use it to take care of other people & you need to accept that as something that can take care of you, too.’ but that’s something to discuss with a therapist or a guidance counselor, not something that should hugely impact gorgug’s academic future.

Despite jjk already being tragic for multiple characters, it’ll be beautiful if Yuuji manages to save Megumi from Sukuna. One of the best aspects of their relationship from the start (although possibly not the healthiest) has been their unconditional desire to save and be with each other. Megumi telling Yuuji to “start by saving me” was such a significant moment in helping Yuuji continue moving forward and not isolate himself away from Megumi and the others. And, while killing Sukuna is considered to be the priority of the characters Yuuji has consistently been planning ways to save Megumi too, and arguably one of the only characters to push those plans too. The same can apply to Megumi too, with his soul drowning after possession, suppressed after seeing his sister and mentor die. At his lowest, I would love to see Yuuji and the others be there for him too. It wouldn’t fix anything that’s already happened, but it would be a start towards healing

You know what, more series should do that actually. As in, have the parent of the main hero also be the villain’s love interest. Whether by it being revealed later down that the person the villain is smooching is the protagonist’s parent, or the villain just thinks the hero’s parent is hot and wants to date them. Either/or. There’d be a lot more villain stepparents that way I think
