Ok but does anyone know of any time turner fics where Remus or Mary goes back in time over and over trying to change the fates of their friends and save everyone?

Like the first time they go back they don’t really know where it all went wrong and they kind of just relive the whole thing with a growing sense of horror and deja vu and just watch history repeat it’s self unable to save anyone.

The next time they go back, they succeed in saving maybe like James and Lily, but then somehow Sirius instead gets blamed for the McKinnons or smth and then everything falls apart and they have to go back again

The next time they go back they’re determined to save everyone and do it right this time. All the rest of the marauders can tell they’re acting strange but at this point Remus/Mary doesn’t care bc they’d rather their friends think they’re fucking insane as long as their alive. But instead, when the war comes this suspension develops into them being accused of being the spy and this time everything falls apart again

The next time, they’re ready. They know who to save, they know who is going to do what and when, they’re ready. Except they’re not. They save the McKinnon’s, they save the longbottoms, they stop Peter and save the potters, and somehow still everything falls apart. They might have saved them from their original fate, but in the end they all die and suffer worse fates.

The next time they feel helpless. They don’t know what they’re doing wrong and they don’t know how to fix it and save anyone much less everyone and they think about giving up, accepting the fact that maybe this is just the way they’re doomed to be. But then, somehow they go to the cave and find out what regulus did and decide to try going back even further and save him too since they can’t really get any worse.

When they go back this time, they go back to 1979 and they somehow save regulus (they pull him from the water or they convince him to let them come, or they just fucking go in anyways). And after so many failed attempts they’re honestly feeling like there’s nowhere to go but up since they’re already at rock bottom, so they tell regulus what’s going on. Since Remus/Mary have been doing this alone the entire time, unable to tell anyone for fear of what it could do, they’ve been trying to save everyone as just one person. But this time they don’t see any point in not telling him. If they fuck up the timeline or time itself, what does it matter? They’re friends are all going to die anyways.

So at first regulus doesn’t believe them. He doesn’t buy it, but after extensive proof he finally believes them. Then they tell him what’s going to happen and what they’re trying to prevent. At first he’s rly not interested in jointing them or helping since he’s already kind of booked trying to destroy the horcruxes, but eventually Remus or Mary gets him to join them.

Now that they’re not alone, and with the added bonus that they have a death eater AND now know about the horcruxes, they set out to change their fates. This time they start fixing the timeline together, but at some point things go wonky and regulus dies and everything falls apart, but Remus/Mary don’t give up. They know what to do this time. They know they need regulus. This time things go differently. They save regulus first and it’s easier to convince him since they know him now. This time history doesn’t repeat itself and this time their friends don’t die and this time they win. They’re able to stop everything from falling apart and this time regulus is there the whole time.

Also as much as I love love love my babies jily, if Mary went back in time to save the love of her life Lily and she had to watch her fall in love with James over and over and die every time and hold her lifeless body over and over as Harry cries from his crib??? And if the last time she goes back and she saves regulus, things are different this time. Lily looks at her different, and she is different, watching her friends die has changed her, but Lily is looking at her like she’s something so rare and beautiful. This time James and Lily don’t get married or have Harry, this time Harry isn’t Voldemort’s enemy, this time they protect frank and Alice and Neville. The potters don’t die, Mary saves Lily and they all fall in love and live happily ever after

Also if that were the case jegulus would make sense. Mary saves regulus and when he comes back from the cave he’s different. James notices. Lily’s eyes are on Mary, but James can’t take his off regulus. He’s got this air of fate around him, like he knows what’s going to happen and he’s decided he doesn’t care because he can change his fate just by sheer willpower. He’s no longer helpless and weak, he’s fighting back.

Just thinking about this <3 featuring spy regulus being morally gray and Sirius not going to Azkaban and they all grow old and live happily ever after <333

i just think it is legitimately genuinely so disrespectful to what cassandra clare has done to just dismiss her on the grounds of just saying the mortal instruments is harry potter fanfiction. a claim for which you don’t actually have any evidence and are just piggybacking off of what mean spirited people have been saying for years without putting in any work to actually test that claim. 50 shades of grey is twilight fanfiction and that’s an unarguable fact that we know that has been genuinely literally confirmed and proven. it’s the author’s twilight fanfiction with the names changed that’s a fact. and to put cassandra clare in that same category is first of all insane considering the vast difference in what she has done vs what 50 shades has done in terms of genuine creative impact on their genre. and secondly it’s just bad journalism. you have zero credibility when you say that, there’s no facts, you’re reporting on rumors and fake allegations you can’t prove and didn’t try to. “but beth it’s not THAT serious” it is. it is that serious. to me.

like. cassandra clare has built an entire 20+ book UNIVERSE with the shadowhunter chronicles. she has created a lore you cannot even comprehend without extensive study. she has written multiple books in multiple different series all within the shadowhunter brand umbrella and each one has new concepts to explore, new characters to meet, and new stories to engage in. she built an original world and became one of the biggest names in the urban fantasy genre for a reason. and that reason is that she is GOOD at it. she has stayed relevant in her genre (and with the same series mind you! the same expanded series has stayed relevant!) since 2006, and she’s still going! her universe is about to reach its epic conclusion after 20 years of buildup and genuine love her fan community has for her work. to see all of that and to still say. oh the mortal instruments is published harry potter fanfiction is so like. rude and insane to me on a level i can’t even fathom being, like how can a person even say that and think they’re being fair and factual.

and furthermore. cassandra clare and the shadowhunter chronicles are more original and unique and interesting than jkr and harry potter ever have been so jot that the fuck down right here right now. joanne didn’t do half the world building cassie did and still does. and when cassie branched out of tsc and wrote another book that book was ALSO well received because she put the same amount of effort and care into something new. has anyone enjoyed a non harry potter jkr book ever. do we even know what those books are about? no? yeah that’s what i thought. and furthermore cassie never had to rely on telling the most basic hero’s journey story ever coupled with already invented genre concepts to tell a story. and also cassie is way funnier. which frankly is the most important point here. she’s funnier! and more likable and interesting! and a feminist. and a pioneer within her subgenre. jkr probably doesn’t even know what a subgenre is she’s not even creative enough to branch out that far. whateverrrrr ok i’m done

Another week goes by, and Harry beats Malfoy to the seventh floor corridor for the first time. He stops short upon seeing the empty hallway, then slides down against his side of the wall, waiting. It isn’t long before he hears hurried footsteps and looks up to see Malfoy standing in front of him, jaw set and expression brittle. He looks like he’s going to say something, but he doesn’t, just lets out a harsh breath and leans back against the wall. Harry just watches him, watches his hands open and close into fists at his sides, and feels a quiet sense of relief that he came.

“Aren’t you going to ask me?” Malfoy bites out after a moment.

“Ask you what?” Harry asks, confused.

“Ask me why.” Malfoy's right hand comes to press reflexively against his left forearm, and Harry understands. “Ask me what the hell I was thinking.” His voice cracks at the end of the sentence, and Harry looks away.

He thinks for a moment, but the truth is he doesn’t need an answer. Harry has known since he saw Malfoy lowering his wand in the astronomy tower that Malfoy regretted joining Voldemort. In fact, Harry feels all but certain that Malfoy would have accepted Dumbledore’s offer of help if it had come earlier. He thinks of the visions he’d had over the last year - of Malfoy white and shaking while Voldemort forced him to perform the cruciatus curse, of his pale face twisted in horror as he surveyed the wreckage of Gringotts on the night of the Battle - and he knows that even if Malfoy had wanted it when he’d taken the Mark, he’d come to regret it. But Malfoy is still standing there, his face both angry and imploring, so Harry asks him a different question.

“Why did you lie that night? In the Manor?” Malfoy freezes, and Harry pushes on. “You knew it was me.”

“I didn’t,” Malfoy snaps. “Don’t flatter yourself, Potter.” 

Harry snorts. “Alright, fine. Whatever. Except we both know you fucking did.” 

Malfoy stares at him, still looking like he can’t decide if he wants to fight or beg. For what, Harry doesn’t know. Harry just stares back. Finally, Malfoy lets out a ragged breath. He presses his hands against his face and slumps to the floor. He brings his elbows to his knees, head resting in the cradle of his hands. “He would have killed you.”  

“Why would you care? I thought you hated me.” Harry says.

“Yes, well.” Malfoy shoots back, head still bowed. “You hate me.” 

“I don’t,” Harry says, and as he says the words he knows that they’re true. He hasn’t hated Malfoy for a long time. “Not anymore.”

I’m going to say this for the people on here who are discovering the creators of a media they like is a bad person

Write a fanfic where Harry is Trans and Hermione and black, write a story where Draco Malfoy is Indian. I don’t fucking care, but don’t let J.K Rowling ruin it for you, just take the story and change it, make it your own. and for the people who don’t want to read Harry Potter or interact with it anymore go for it! Do your thing, more power to you! He rolled over and just as he was about to open the curtains around his bed, Sirius peeked in from the other side, making him jump.

“Fucking hell, Padfoot!” He hissed, clutching his chest.

“Sorry!” He frowned, “Just came to see if you were ok.”

“Why wouldn’t I be?” Remus pulled the blanket up to cover him to his chin.

“You’ve been having nightmares again.” Sirius shrugged. “You talk during them, sometimes.”

“No, I don’t!” Remus wanted to crawl under his blanket and never come out. “Do I really?”

“Yeah. There’s been a few mentions of my name lately.” Sirius said carefully. “And you’ve been avoiding me.” Fuck. He should have known that Sirius would notice Remus pulling away.

“It’s been the same dream, three times this week.” Remus paused to take a long drag, “I transform back into myself and you’re there on the floor in front of me, completely… I’ve killed you.”

Sirius looked at him, then pulled him into a hug. “That sounds horrible.” Remus nodded. “Have you seen Pomfrey for some dreamless sleep?”

He sounded so raw and vulnerable that Remus didn’t know what to do with himself. “I think, when my body starts to hurt, or when I have these nightmares, or I can’t sleep, or whatever, it’s just a reminder that I’m not actually human. I’m a beast. Or a monster. And I always will be. In that moment, I don’t feel like I deserve any relief. I know that’s not what you want to hear, sorry.”

When Sirius turned to him again, he looked so sad and Remus’ heart broke a little bit. “You deserve the world, Moons. You are a good person, you deserve to not be in pain, you deserve to be happy, you deserve to be loved,” Ok, where did that come from? “You deserve everything. Do you not see that having these dreams isn’t because you’re a beast or a monster, but it’s because you’re terrified of hurting people? Of hurting me. How can that make you a monster?”

Remus threw what was left of his cigarette out of the window and stared at his friend. He took in the crease between his eyebrows, the dark circles under his eyes, the starting of stubble across his jaw. Even when he was distressed, he was so beautiful.

“Thank you.” He said eventually. “I hadn’t really considered that.” Sirius nodded, “I don’t know that I believe it, but I want to. That’s a start, right?”

“Yeah,” Sirius smiled sadly, “It’s something.”

“Did I wake you up?” Remus didn’t know what time it was.

Sirius frowned, “Yeah, but I don’t mind.”

“I mind!” Remus hissed, “Fuck, I’m sorry.”

“You have nothing to be sorry for! For fuck’s sake, Remus!” He was glad that he’d cast a silencing charm because the volume at which he'd shouted would definitely have woken James and Pete. Remus froze. “Can you just let me take care of you for one night without apologising? Let me love you, you unbelievable prick!”

They were silent for a while. Remus’ mouth had dropped open and he continued to stare, and Sirius had gone back to looking out of the window.

“Pads, I—”

“I don’t want to talk about it.” He said in a low voice. “I don’t want to hear it.”

“But, would you let me love you?” Remus almost whispered. “Not to be self-deprecating and all that shit again, but do you understand what loving me entails?”

“I’ve loved you for a long fucking time. Of course, I do.” Sirius snapped. “I don’t care about whatever people are going to say. I care about you.”

“Well, I love you… so… there’s that.” Remus’ neck was bright pink, and it caught Sirius by surprise. “I think the nightmares… It was only ever you, never James, Pete or Lily. It’s what would hurt me the most.”

“Well, all the more reason for dreamless sleep then.” Sirius looked at him with a slight smile.

“Would you be mad if I told you I have a bottle in my drawer?”

“I’d be absolutely furious. Now, let’s go back to bed.” He grabbed Remus’ hand and led him back to his bed, grabbing the potion from the drawer before he slid under Remus’ blanket.

partially curious how some stranger things fans are transphobes because ok I could see that considering how much of the ga is homophobic and totally ignores the anti-conformity message of the show.

but the big thing I’m curious about is how the fuck do we have transphobic BYLERS??? i’d hoped for bare minimum “stranger things is anti conformity and supports outcasts which includes trans people” level of understanding from you guys.

This isn’t about people just mentioning Harry Potter and the parallels relative to ST or anything like that.

This is about like blatant boldfaced transphobia and explicitly pro-jkr sentiments that I’ve seen/been getting in my inbox related to byler and ST. I’m trans and have been open-ish to discussing those parallels because they DO exist, but that will end very quickly if we start devolving into explicitly pro-jkr sentiment in this tag/in my inbox. I don’t care how much you like Harry Potter, there is NO excusing her actions and again most bylers that I see discussing Harry Potter are well aware of this and speak out against her, but I’m noticing more and more of a sentiment of “speaking out about jkr is the same as silencing people from talking about the dark themes like suicide in ST” which is not even remotely true, because JKR is actively doing harm to trans people and there’s a difference between “looking at the way that a show addresses dark topics like bigotry” versus “actively defending a bigot.”

I’m more baffled than anything honestly. Like. Did you transphobes not pick up on the themes of the show at ALL???
