Do you think Donald and Jose have opinions about each other's parenting?

Hmmm... let me see... but also take it into account that the most parenting I've seen from Donald was in DT17, so I'm gonna go off of that. I think the first thing I notice is that while Donald feels much more like a dad to Huey, Louie and Dewey, José seems to fit more in the expected role of an uncle to Zico and Zeca. And, because of that, Donald is shown to be much more hands on when it comes to parenting the ducklings, even coming off as overprotective and completely nuts about safety at times (which fair, the man has TRAUMA). Meanwhile Zé is way more relaxed about letting Zico and Zeca do their own thing. I think if Zé had any critiscim about Donald's parenting it would be about him not letting the kids roam free enough,, "Just let the kids go crazy once in a while, man! Scrap their knees, ride their bikes with no hands, do a little tax fraud!!!" he'd say. But also, if anything I'm sure Zé would mostly commend Donald about how caring he is about his boys and how he manages to keep that boat house afloat. If Donald has any criticism of Zé's uncle-ing I have to say it would be about how HYPOCRITICAL his method of teaching and disciplining is. Zé is very much a "do as I say, don't do as I do" type of guy and, sure, it can work for a few life lessons, but kids are smart!! They're gonna pick up on your bullshit sooner or later and then you're simply not gonna make any progress with raising them properly. But I'm also sure Donald would see the good sides of Zé's trials at raising a pair of chaos twins, because it's clear as day how much José loves them and how he'll often make an effort to better himself and do good by them.

Yang Haoran had really thought he’d forgotten what Andrew Li’s family had looked like.  He had tried so hard to keep their faces in his memory, but they’d grown blurry, anyway.  Had his mother had short hair?  Long?  What was the shape of his father’s eyes?  The shape of his nose?  His chin?  

In the end, he couldn’t remember.

But the girl coughing smoke in front of him…

He hadn’t needed to even think for even a second to know who she was.

“Haha, this is not what I was trying to do,” the hallucination that is his older sister says in English, rubbing her temples.  “Bad idea, bad idea, bad idea, what even happened…”

She jolts upright, flashing an awkward smile when she catches sight of him.  “Um!  Hi.  Yeees, that’s me!  You’ve, uh–” she switches to vaguely American-accented, vaguely Taiwainese-accented Mandarin “– you’ve heard of me?  Like, exclusively by my Chinese name?  That’s kind of funny, since I… have no idea who you are. Sorry.  Have we met before somewhere?  Like, ACA stuff, maybe?”

She smooths a lock of hair behind her ear, does it so not a strand is out of place.  She’d always been so careful about her appearance.  Hair always perfectly straight, clothes always wrinkle-free, as if she printed herself out on paper instead of getting ready in the morning.  That was just the kind of person she was – clinical perfection in her dress, as if to make up for the general imperfection of everything else about her, as if the perfect knife-edge of her eyeliner could hide the shadows under her eyes she never bothered to cover up.

Always the insomniac, his sister.

“You need more sleep,” he says.

Claire Li lets out an agitated groan. “Everybody tells me that!” she cries, throwing her hands up in the air.  “Why does everyone keep telling me that!  Do they think I don’t know?  I want to sleep, too!  It just doesn’t happen!”

She holds out the pack of tissues like a lifeline.  Yang Haoran stares blankly at it.

“Uh, just… just hold out your hand.  Just take the tissues.  Here, I’ll just –” she inches forward gingerly, pokes tissues against his hand.

which i know is ironical because Sephiroth has more redeeming qualities than Belial.

Like they're both experiments made by people driven by hubris who ended up choosing a path of evil and horror in order to have the love and attention of the person they were created from.

But at least Belial always knew that's what he was in for, compared to Sephiroth who spent his whole life as an outcast and a child soldier, who had to watch everything he loved be destroyed because of said experiments, and eventually just leading him to lose his mind once the final reveal about his existence came to light.

and in term of evil crimes, it's also arguable that Belial was worse. They even both killed some of my darlings but somehow i'm more mad at Sephiroth than at Belial, probably bc of the reasons why those murders happened.

my favourite thing about chuuya nakahara is that he's just kind of. chill. about everything. he's like, my tragic backstory has no hold on me, i went to therapy and i'm all good now. i'm a bad guy cuz it pays good and my found family happens to be here. what do you mean that's not a good reason, you a cop or something?

someone will betray him and he'll go ok well that's pretty upsetting. they probably had a good reason though. i'll forgive them if they let me get a good punch in. if they're really just a hater they're giving me bad vibes and i don't wanna deal with 'em at all tbh.

things have been done to him that would warrant a lifelong crusade of revenge for anyone else, but for chuuya nakahara it's just, that was super not cool but i'll let it slide if you get therapy with me.

chuuya is down for any crime and thinks moral boundaries are for losers and stuff but he's the nicest guy in the port mafia when it comes to not mistreating his subordinates and probably helps old ladies cross the street. he shows up for a solid 10-20 minutes of screentime per season and makes all the fans fall in love with him while doing the bare minimum, and despite technically being a villain i don't think he's worked against the agency a single time (although to be fair this is often not on purpose). he also does the bare minimum every time he's asked to help in-universe and clearly isn't even trying, and he sweeps anyway because he is ridiculously overpowered and could probably kill literally everyone if he actually wanted to, and i just. no one is doing it like him. you go you unbothered king.

Max was grateful that you had a private recording studio in the house, for when you needed to drop the album. You didn’t mean to choose the surprise drop date to be at the end of your pregnancy, nor Father’s Day, but life worked in funny ways.

“Happy Father’s Day, Maxie,” you softly say, handing the little bundle off to Max.

“This is the best present, he’s beautiful,” Max hold back tears as he holds his son close to his chest.

“I’m not sure if I will be able to top this next year,” you laugh a little, your tiredness making an apparent after a long labor.

“You should take a nap, I’ll be okay with him,” Max runs a hand though your sweaty hair. To him, you’ve never looked more perfect.

He craves Eddie’s company too, but that’s between him and the cigarette.

“Yeah, my parents are working overtime it seems. They’re bound and determined to have me mated off before spring.”

Steve laughs.

Eddie doesn’t.

“They sound awful.”

They are. Their insistence on old-fashioned values and treating their omega son like a burden to be rid of is proof enough.

“They mean well,” he says. “I think.”

Eddie hums thoughtfully. It’s clear that he disagrees.

Steve passes the cigarette back.

The alpha snubs it out on the sidewalk they’re sitting on instead.

“How long are you gonna keep doing this for?”

“Well, as long as it takes to find someone who’s interested, I guess. There’s not an exact timeline or any—”

Eddie startles Steve when he cuts him off with a growl.

He doesn’t look mad, but his forehead creases, deep frown, and sour scent speaks of irritation.

“Not what I meant.”

“I don’t know, Eddie. They’re my parents… and it’s not like I’ve got anyone else knocking down my door.”

Steve always looks good on paper. He’s attractive and from an upstanding family, a decent investment at first glance.

But then he opens his mouth. That’s where their interest always ends.

Sometime between shaking hands and dessert, their eyes get bored and they start checking their watch more. They don’t bother to hide that they’re running out the clock, eager to be away from Steve.

He thought it would hurt less after a while, but it doesn’t.

“How many times are we gonna do this, Stevie?“

And now even Eddie is bored with him. It makes sense. They’ve been meeting up for months and Steve isn’t worth much for stimulating conversation.

It had to end eventually.

“I’m sorry. I— I didn’t realize I was bothering you. I can leave you to your gigging, man. Let me just—”

Steve reaches for his wallet, pulling out a thick wad of bills to shove in Eddie’s guitar case as an apology for taking up his precious time.

Compensation for the therapy.

“Hey, no— that’s not what I meant, baby. I just— ugh, why is this so hard to say?” Eddie groans, grabbing at his own hair in frustration.

Steve hasn’t the faintest idea what’s ailing Eddie. The guy is normally chill 100% of the time. It’s why Steve goes to him for comfort. He’s hard to shake.

“Sorry?” he tries.

“No, I’m sorry! I just can’t sit here for yet another evening and pretend like there are more fish in the sea for you or whatever,” Eddie explains frantically, his eyes begging Steve to understand.

Ouch. Okay. Point made.

Steve is unlovable, got it.

He stands, brushing off his slacks so his shaking hands aren’t as noticeable.

Keep cool. Breathe.

“Understood. I won’t bother you anymore then. I can park across the street next time too. Good luck with everything, Eddie. I’m sure your band will get signed soon, you’re a talented musician.”

Eddie shoots to his feet, almost tripping over his own lanky limbs in the process.

He grabs the sleeve of Steve’s dress shirt, stopping him from leaving.

“Don’t go on anymore dates.”

Jesus.

“Yeah, I got it the first time, thanks. I’m undesirable. Can you stop repeating it?”

Eddie looks like he’s been slapped, but he doesn’t say anything back. The bluntness must have caught him off guard.

Steve sighs, attempting to pull free from the alpha’s grip.

He almost manages it.

But then Eddie snaps back to reality and his eyes go wide for just a split moment before he kisses Steve right on the lips.

It’s unexpected to say the least.

It’s also probably the best kiss of his entire life. Too bad it’s from someone who just told him to quit dating because nobody will ever want to court him.

They finally break apart and Steve sways.

“Eddie… what in the actual hell are you—?”

“I love you! I love you— I’ve been in love with you for months, but you insist on going on all these dates with alphas who have no taste and they keep breaking your heart and leaving me to pick up the pieces, but I don’t want to keep handing them back. I want to keep you, Steve. I want to be the only alpha you go on dates with.”

Steve stops trying to run away.

Instead, he yanks at the collar of Eddie’s shirt, tugging him into another, longer kiss.

This is love, huh? Makes sense.

His lips are warm and so is his heart. Patched up once more and encased in a body other than his own

No more arranged dates.

“That was a ‘yes,’ in case it didn’t translate.”

Eddie’s face is flushed and his happy smile is infectious.

“I don’t have the kind of money your usual dates have, but I had this really cute guy way overtip me earlier. Can I buy you dinner, pretty boy?”
