Op, you're correct to an extent but there's a degree of nuance being left out here. Roleplay and fiction in general CAN be materially harmful (be it through a ttrpg, or kink roleplay, or a theatre show).

But it doesn't have to be. It can and should be treated with respect for the harm that it can cause. Like with any kink, research should be done on the kink! Responsible kinksters already know this applies for personally dangerous kinks (choking, blood play), but too many people often ignore the more insidiously dangerous kinks. Acknowledgement of the harm it can cause, and effort to prevent that harm, is important.

If you're actually roleplaying kink with another person, for example, it would be best to go into it being aware of the harm you can accidentally cause with it. Before you even propose the kink to your partner, be aware of any trauma that they or their loved ones may have experienced that could hurt them. Don't be afraid to communicate your desires (PLEASE always communicate your desires and expectations and wants and needs), but do so delicately and with care if the situation calls for it. Listen to your partner and be prepared for a no. If you end up doing it, have safe words or establish specific topics that can't be gone over (e.g. "we can do incest play but don't pretend to be a father, it upsets me).

If you're writing a story, crafting a TTRPG campaign, or creating some other work of fiction for literary purposes, then you also have responsibility. Research the effects this trauma has on people, maybe even from blog posts or somesuch from actual victims. Read up on psychological studies, and remain aware that despite how narratively satisfying or useful it can be, this is still a horrific act when done to someone, and needs to be treated with respect. Additionally, tag your fucking work, at least on regards to heavily triggering shit like that.

If you're writing a story on such subjects for jack off reasons, then you aren't necessarily going to be portraying the realistic effects of such horrible things (unless the awful aftermath is specifically your thing, in which case good for u). Instead, your primary responsibilities as a porn/erotica artist regarding shit like rape or incest (at least in my opinion) is to Tag Your Shit Properly, and to add a disclaimer to each instance of art. Be it in an author's note, or a pinned comment, or the front page of a fic, just saying that this is all fiction and should stay that way, and that the acts described are not and never will be acceptable to do in real life. That's all you really can do, at that point you must put trust in the reader or viewer to have the barest sliver of moral fiber, and that's not the artist's responsibility.

Oh, one last thing I almost forgot. You really kinda do have to accept people like that? You don't have to be their friends or hang out with them, but you have to accept them on a more fundamental level. Not treat them like they're inherently vile and disgusting monsters. But you have to educate them and encourage them to be informed and responsible. Because do you know what happens when you demonize all the REAL freaks? The incest-shippers, and AO3 zoophiles, and rape-fetishists, and no-contact pedos? They get pushed away.

And because they are demonized and reviled and disgusted, eventually they tend towards the most common places that accept them. Little enclaves of ACTUAL monstrousness, formed by the people that weren't just harmless and kept it to responsibly produced fiction. These little enclaves were formed by the people that believe their desires are correct and should be acted upon, and the world is suppressing their natural inclinations.

So, all of these kinksters and fic-writers are pushed away, and like humans do they will often latch on to the only community they know of that doesn't despise them. And as we all know from TV Diversity, being around people will slowly make you more accepting of them. Kind of hard for a human to keep on insisting to themselves that this guy online has horrible beliefs and is a bad person when he's your friend Gator that plays his guitar really well in discord calls in the evenings and sings along with everybody and constantly sends new gardening shit he found in general chat. It's kind of hard to keep in mind how horrible his beliefs are when you don't feel like anyone or anywhere else would accept you for who you are.

This is the same story that plays in so many other places, including the right wing. It is isolation, then radicalization. Except, for the right, they intentionally pull people in, and try to get them as radicalized as possible. Like a fishing rod, or a whirlpool.

But here? They're not being pulled in, they're being PUSHED in. And the solution is not to push them away harder until they all fuck off and out of your sight. The solution isn't to kill or imprison them (though this stems from my position as an anti-death-penalty and restorative-justice leftie). The solution is to talk to them and inform them and give them an alternative to spiraling into monstrousness. Show them that they don't have to be a monster.

For any given individual? You have no personal obligation to educate or enlighten such people. But you do have a responsibility to be kind and courteous on a basic level. To not immediately demonize them for thoughts in their head, to tell them that as long as they don't hurt people and be responsible then they're still people and still deserving of acceptance.

I do wanna clarify, I'm not accusing you of anything, op. I don't know you or what your beliefs are or whatever. I'm more using your post as a springboard for being informative to people. Please don't think I'm attacking you or blaming you for radicalizing people or whatever. You're a stranger on the internet and I know next to nothing about you. Fluff

Moira is generally a more reserved person when you first meet her. Obviously, not out of shyness. She simply puts her work above everything, including herself- which is made obvious thanks to her abilities caused by using herself as a test subject.

Having feelings for you was probably the last thing she had expected to happen. She actually tried to mask these feelings to herself by working around it. She proposed to herself that she could just use you as a test subject and to use these feelings for you to gain your trust to make the experimenting process easier.

However, when she went to construct this plan, her love for you over powered her desire- something that came as a surprise to her.

Never in her life has she desired something above her precious experiments, so she became curious. When she had came into terms with her emotions, she immediately confesses to you the soonest chance she gets. And when you reciprocate these emotions, she’s ecstatic. No, not all giddy or overly emotional about it, but she’s content.

Through this relationship, you get to see a side of Moira she never has shown before. Not because she was insecure about it or embarrassed about this side of her in any way. She just didn’t have a reason to be caring or compassionate to someone until you came into her life.

Now she isn’t all overly romantic and dramatic with how she shows her love. In her eyes, she prefers to keep things private. The most she’ll do PDA wise will be a quick kiss on the lips as she passes by before continuing on her way to wherever she was heading.

While on the topic of PDA, if you initiate it, she will not complain. Hell- you may even surprise her enough to fluster her if you pull the right cards- though that alone isn’t the easiest task since she isn’t one for surprises.

However, when she isn’t working and she has free time, she likes to be at your side whenever she can. This especially applies if you’re both off work.

Her favorite way to spend time with you is to just relax at home. She’ll make the two of you dinner and you two can eat as you watch movies and cuddle on the couch.

With some research- I’ve come to find out that this woman is 6′5″. So you know that you’ll most likely get a teasing yet affectionate nickname based on the fact that you’re shorter than her- unless you’re miraculously taller than her (As a short person, you terrify me if this is the case).

If you work in Talon with her, she’s always subtly looking out for you while around base and on the field. It’s notable that she always takes better care of you when taking care of your wounds than she does with most of the other Talon agents.

If you are in Overwatch, then she plays it extra careful when it comes to PDA- if she ever does any PDA at all. With Overwatch being a main target against Talon, it makes a relationship a tad difficult. However, she makes it work to the best of her ability.

NSFW

I personally believe that Moira would be a top as one who likes things to go the way she wants them to. She enjoys being the one on control more often then not. There might be a few times where she’ll let you be in control, but- usually- it won’t be for too long.

She loves to tease you with a slightly smug look on her face. Watching you’re expressions and reactions are part of what she adores about it.

Moira is more than open to experimenting and trying new things. All you have to do is ask and she’ll provide. She’ll study your reaction to whatever you two decide to try to see if you enjoy it or not, while also deciding whether or not she enjoys it as well.

Moira isn’t one to be too vocal. She prefers to keep her own sounds on the quieter side of things.

I hope you have a bit of a high pain tolerance, because with those nails, there is no way in hell that you aren’t going to get scratched up in some kind of way. This can range from your back and shoulders when she’s riding you to your thighs when she holds them open when giving oral and/or teasing you.

Moira doesn’t mind being marked, nor does she mind marking you. She’ll place a hickey on a place that isn’t easy to hide just to mess with you if she’s in the mood for showing you off. She doesn’t bother to hide her own bruises if you were to put them in a place where there is a chance that they would be visible. Moira may actually show a small bit of pride in them, gladly answering truthfully if asked what they were (or more so confirming that they are, indeed, hickeys as the other may suspect).

The name Kim Mingyu didn’t ring a bell before. Not until his executive assistant reached out to you because apparently, the photographer slash writer read one of your blog posts and wanted you to take part for their sixth year anniversary issue. You know the famous magazine and publishing company, which is why you thought it was a scam or a ploy to steal your money. It’s a stupid assumption but you can’t blame your mind imagining the worse because you are not a fashion blogger at all. Why would a fashion magazine want you to write an article for them?

Sure, you regularly write and post blog entries on your website. But you write about your dog, your recently bought tea coaster and sometimes your skincare routine. Okay, maybe your occasional outfit of the day as well but nothing in detail. Again, why do they want you to write for them?

Kim Mingyu answered your questions and uncertainties when he personally emailed his contact details to you. You didn’t have to bite, but it didn’t hurt to confirm at the same time. You dialed the number and he indeed proved you wrong. He invited you for a meeting at his office and you accepted.

Your visits to high-rise buildings, much more to the luxurious office of an executive, is rare to never. You were jaw slacked when your eyes took in the crisp architecture. The design, the furniture, the color, the everything was beyond what you could have imagined a publishing company’s headquarters could be.

The meeting was nothing but short of an interview. He asked about your blog (which does not even have its own domain by the way), he asked what else you write about, he asked about your desk job (which doesn’t pay much but enough for you to get by), he asked if you have any background about fashion and one last question about your dog, Max, before talking about his proposal.

To be honest, Mingyu’s offer was tempting. For one article, the commission would be enough for you to move out of your current apartment and move to a brand new and fully-furnished one. But you remained true to yourself and without thinking twice, you declined.

You can tell that the editor-in-chief and his assistant, who stood beside him all throughout, was surprised by the looks on their faces. But Mingyu respected your decision and didn’t pursue any further. You took your stand from the chair and sincerely thanked him for the time and opportunity. You thought that would be it but when he followed suit with your actions and reached his hand out, it was your turn to be surprised.

You didn’t hesitate to mirror him and shake his hand, firmly. After that, you’d figure that it’s the end and that you’ll probably get to see a glimpse of him only through your television or phone. But Mingyu proved you wrong once again when he sent an unexpected email three days later asking why.

What might be the reason why you didn’t accept his offer?

You believed he deserved an explanation of your personal reasons so you disclosed them. And just like that the conversation on that email thread naturally progressed and eventually deepened. The professional emails became casual text messages, the text messages became phone calls, and the phone calls became actual face to face dates at late hours of the evening because he usually clocks out at 9 o’clock.

The rest, as they say, was in the hands of history.

Your first date with Mingyu was particularly odd. It was at a traditional Korean restaurant owned by one of his friends who introduced himself as Angel even though his real name is Jeonghan. You didn’t question him or anyone else why because that’s none of your business. But back to the date. It was odd because you have never been to a restaurant that’s completely empty and dead silent before (aside of course, from the typical music played in the background). You asked Mingyu if such an occurrence is normal and he just plainly answered that he rented the whole place all to yourselves. You have always known he’s rich. However, you didn’t believe that booking the whole restaurant was necessary.

Nonetheless, that first date, in some way, was special for you because there were no distractions. You enjoyed his company and you can tell he enjoyed yours too because he’s quick to mention a second date and it didn’t take a heartbeat for you to say yes.

But, by far, Mingyu inviting you to the behind the scenes of the making of the sixth anniversary issue that you turned down writing for is one of the most memorable dates the two of you had. It was out of the blue and you two were having difficulty in syncing your schedules. He was beginning to get busier and busier as the anniversary neared and the only way he could think of still making time for you is inviting you to his office. He called you and asked if you’re free to have lunch together. And you, being attracted to the handsome and tall man, didn’t hesitate to say yes.

He was in the middle of ending his morning meeting when you arrived and you were almost caught off-guard when all eyes were suddenly on you, making you feel small. But Mingyu didn't care as his smile beamed, immediately standing up from his chair to walk towards you. The rest of his staff were still in the midst of walking out of his office when he grasped your hand to pull you inside and you have never felt so shy your whole life.

Since then, he made you tag along to the creative process and you witnessed how hands on he was with every article, every photo, every brand, every trend and every detail that goes to the magazine that he has built and loved with his blood, sweat and tears. He’s beyond dedicated in finding and doing what’s best for the magazine and most importantly, its loyal readers.

You can tell that he really is deserving of everything that he has and is still receiving.

Mingyu being perfect also applies to your relationship. He’s always present despite being booked with fittings, meetings, photoshoots and business travels twenty-nine days of the month. He never fails to call, never fails to answer your calls. He never fails to offer the warmest hugs and the softest kisses. Well, he fails to be on time during your dates sometimes but he never once stood you up and his cuddles when he sleeps over are enough to apologize for the lost time.

The only flaw he has is that he doesn’t know how to take no for an answer. Most especially at times where he wants to shower his love in ways that cost more than your paycheck in a year.

Here are some examples:

You know that Mingyu pays attention to every word you say. Even if you just mentioned a passing topic, he will do his best to keep those in mind. With that being said, you mentioned once that you want to renovate the extra bedroom of your apartment and turn it into a study where you could work someday. Your boyfriend, being the rich man he is, offered to hire and pay a team that could help you bring the design you envisioned into life.

That was during the first few months of your relationship and you were flabbergasted by how easy it was for him to do or much less say. Needless to say, you immediately turned him down and he respected that (but of course, he pouted about it like a child all throughout the day).

But wait, there’s more.

Do you remember how you mentioned that Mingyu travels frequently? Yes? Well, Mingyu always books an extra ticket for you just in case you want to join him. Sometimes it’s not even about the flight ticket anymore. It’s about him stopping by your apartment to pick you up unexpectedly as if France is only a drive away.

It’s unbelievable, really. That’s why you always close the door on his face. But of course, you don’t forget to give him a long kiss and “stay safe” or “I’ll miss you” farewell. Mingyu, ever the good boy he is, lets you win and just return your kisses a little longer for the days he won’t be able to do so.

Mingyu’s intentions are pure and you’re well aware that the man that you love is only doing this because it’s simple, he loves you. He wants what’s best for you, he wants to give you what you deserve. You can never blame him for being out of touch from reality at times, but you can learn and grow with him. Although of course, he still needs a scolding and a wake up call every now and then.

Anything else? Yes.

You didn’t take into consideration that he’d remember, but one night while the two of you were about to fall asleep, you sleepily mumbled about your dreams of attending graduate school. It was a mere whisper in the late night against his chest and you even thought that he wouldn’t hear you at all because his eyes were already closed. You honestly didn’t expect that he’d send you brochures of different universities who offer various programs the following day. You had to calm him down as he excitedly talked you through it. You even had to shut him up with your lips and explain that you don’t have the time to study at the moment with your current job. He tried to encourage you with praises and admiration of your dedication, skills and knowledge. But no, you didn’t buy it and that’s the end of discussion.

The gifts, however, are something that Mingyu is not giving up on. The first few instances he gave you gifts whether it be a high-end handbag, shoes, clothing, and even jewelry, you allowed him. Because there were only a few. But along the way, the gifts got bigger and more frequent. You had to sit him down to set limitations. It was a long conversation of him trying to get the upper hand. But you didn’t let him outsmart you with his hugs and kisses. It was either he was going to tone it down with the gifts or no gifts at all.

Sometimes, as much as you hate to admit it to yourself, you can’t avoid getting insecure and afraid that the euphoric time you share with Mingyu is not meant to last. At some point, the fact that he's one of the youngest successful editor-in-chiefs of a multi-million earning magazine got overwhelming. You can’t help but feel that you’re no match for him. And again, you hate that your mind gets clouded with ideas that you’re just a charity case he enjoys spending his money on. Of course, you believe that he doesn’t look at you in that way.

It’s you who thinks so.

“Hey.”

You release the bite on your bottom lip at the sound of your boyfriend’s voice. Your lost eyes shoot to the stove where he’s cooking and you notice that he’s about done so you should set the table.

You didn’t even answer Mingyu’s call which concerns him. He wipes the sauce off his hands on the apron he’s wearing and holds your waist before you could even round the corner to the cabinets.

His warmth snaps you out of your thoughts. Your eyes blink up to him and he just raises his eyebrows at you.

“Is there something wrong?” He asks and lowers the heat of the conduction.

“Nothing, nothing,” you lie, shaking your head, “Let me get the plates. I’m quite hungry.”

You try escaping his strong arms and gaze, but he doesn’t let you go. Instead, he wraps his arms around your waist tighter. Your palms automatically land on his chest and the lean muscles make you gulp.

“I’m going to ask again and this time, I want you to tell me the truth,” he says in a serious yet gentle tone. “What’s wrong?”

You sigh and lean your forehead against his chest. Mingyu also sighs and kisses the top of your head. It’s better to tell him now because you’re not going to get anywhere if you’re just going to keep it to yourself. It will be unfair for him too and that’s not what you want.

“I just don’t feel so good about myself over the past few days,” you finally voice out. You sound weak, but Mingyu can hear you loud and clear. “I feel like I don’t deserve you.”

Mingyu had to pull away and hold your shoulders to search your eyes, his frown showing disbelief and sadness both at the same time. “Did I do or say something to make you feel this way?”

“No, no,” you quickly say and hold his cheeks. “You did absolutely nothing. It’s just all in my head.”

Mingyu becomes silent and you wish you could just drop it because the regret and embarrassment is slowly dawning upon you. You wish you didn’t bring it up anymore because why would you burden him with your problems?

But Mingyu proves you wrong once again by holding your hand and carefully tugging you to sit on the dining table, saying softly, “Come on. Let’s talk about it.”

And talk you did. You let out your concerns, worries, fears and insecurities. You bore it all without hiding or masking anything. A tear or two slipped once or twice and some words were interrupted by your hiccups, but Mingyu was patient. He listened and held your hand, promising you that it’s okay. It’s okay to cry. It’s okay to be scared. It’s okay to be worried. It’s okay to be vulnerable in front of him. It’s okay to trust him because he loves you.

Mingyu loves you and his words and actions assure you that it’s okay to love him too.

When there were no more words left to say, the two of you shared a comfortable silence. The weight on your shoulders and the sick feeling in your stomach immediately vanished and you have never felt so relieved. You have never felt so free and loved. You can’t believe that Kim Mingyu is real.

“I know that this is unwarranted,” Mingyu breaks the silence after a while, “but I want you to know that I don’t think of you in any of those ways. To me, you’re the person I love and I am happy with regardless of our different upbringings, different jobs. Those don’t matter to the time and love we share together.”

“I know,” you affirm and kiss his cheek.

Mingyu nods and smiles against the palm of your hand when a memory suddenly pops in his mind. “I’m not sure if I have told you this already. But the blog entry of yours that caught my attention is about your first ever blog post.”

Your eyes widen at his confession. You have never heard of this before. “You mean the one where I talked about why I love writing so much?”

Your boyfriend smiles and nods. “That one.”

“Gosh. That’s so embarrassing,” you groan and palm your face.

“What do you mean embarrassing?” He argues, taking your hand to hold again. “That post was one of the most genuine posts that I have ever read. You explained, word by word, your passion, love and dedication to writing in the most honest way possible. Who wouldn’t be moved?”

You pout and unbeknownst to you, that makes his heart squeeze in adoration.

“It’s not that special,” you mumble, eyes on your intertwined hands.

“It is to me though.”

Mingyu’s eyes are dreamy and glossy as you meet them again and you could never be more in love. He holds your arms, coaxing you to stand up to straddle his lap. You giggle when he protectively wraps his arms around your waist. His nose scrunches when it grazes yours, but upon meeting his lips you feel it exhale a breath of relief.

You kissed and kissed and kissed. But when Max barks at the two of you, reminding you of the dinner you’re supposed to eat and share with him, the two of you burst into laughter before reluctantly detaching from each other.

“You doting over me with material things is a perk,” you humor him and he gives you his signature giggle. “But, I wouldn’t trade sharing the same bed, cooking meals or taking care of Max together over any of those.”

Mingyu nods gives you one last yet long kiss, a promise that there’s more for later.

hope your gloomy day still went pretty well, tell me about it!

some advice i can concentrate better on - as a mentionned yesterday it is definitly true that i like challenge and i got motivated by the idea of trying to find a way to make concentrating in class smth stimulating for my brain ofc i still need to find ways to it right but its a really charming idea to me! i also need to focus at home and get work done there to be able to concentrate better in class so its a whole process that im ready to try out with the method your proposed to me

motivation - feeding my soul, how poetic wow it is true that im very lucky to study what im studying rn and its actually stuff that are useful in life and if i dont find it interesting then maybe it can still be informations that i can share with others right? there is an enormous amount of material in every law classes so i wont be able to memorize everything but your advice made me see things differently and i actually want to try to remember most of it on the LONG TERM and not only for exams! once again it is an advice that really speaks to me and that i will think about when studying

balance - i actually LOVE lists/ plannings/ etc like writing everything i want to do for the day and packing my schedule with many different stuff like seeing many friends, doing productive stuff for school, doing my hobbies it really helps me see how i spend my time and share out the different things i do (so i dont do the same thing over and over again) and i cant believe i FORGOT about it like i actually stopped doing it and i forgot i am so grateful for this advice

I was so taken aback by that high priestess card. Truth be told I too had the same mentality in high school! I studied just to know things. To grow wiser as an individual. If you talk to someone, it gets easier 😁 Plus, talking about what goes on inside your mind can actually put you on the spot in such a way you unconsciously organize your thoughts and find the answers yourself. Okay, so, about a month ago, my brain just conjured up probably the most random au possible: Legally Blonde Adam Banks/banksway au.

Believe me, it's as chaotic as it sounds, but lowkey, I'm kind of in love with it.

Adam never joins the Ducks because there aren't any Ducks to join. Bombay never had to do community service with District Five so there was no one to realise that Adam was on the wrong team all along. He continues to play for the Hawks and, eventually, the Eden Hall Warriors, never getting the chance to become the well-rounded individual we know him as because he's never known anything other than his rich privilege and the "win at all costs" mentality. He ends up going to college on a hockey scholarship and not straight to the NHL or the AHL (shocking, I know). While he's unsure of his major and where his life is heading, he finds solace in the fraternity he joins, which, by some sheer twist of fate, Jesse and Guy have also miraculously joined.

And his life is perfect for a while. He's the star player on yet another school's hockey team, all of his fraternity brothers adore him (though, it took a bit for Jesse to warm up to him), and his secret, not-really-official thing with his former teammate is going swimmingly. (Not to slander my boy, but I was picturing Larson for the role of Warner, purely because the alternative seems to be Rick Riley and that's kind of an unsettling image-- though, maybe that's the point?)

But then his secret boyfriend breaks up with him because, with his high aspirations in life, he needs to be "more serious." And dating Adam Banks, a guy in a stereotypical fraternity who only really knows hockey, in 2001 isn't exactly the white-picket-fence life he's looking for if he's going to be a politician.

And since this non-Duck Adam clearly doesn't have the braincells that canon Adam does, in his devastation, he decides it's a brilliant idea to prove that he is serious by applying to Harvard Law. His parents try to talk him out of it, since they want him to pursue his dreams of hockey, but being a lawyer is a respectable career so they can't exactly argue with him.

He gets accepted thanks to Jesse, Guy, and the rest of his fraternity helping him study for the LSAT and keeping him on track. He's trying his darndest when he gets to Harvard, but (despite his struggle not being as significant as Elle Woods'), not a lot of people take him seriously as an aspiring lawyer, considering him a meathead jock who only got in because of daddy's money.

And that's about the time he meets Linda, who he vaguely remembers from his time at Eden Hall. What he doesn't remember is her being so competitive, because she's deliberately beating him at every turn, just trying (and kind of succeeding) at making him look like a fool. To make matters worse, all of the sudden, she's engaged to his ex-boyfriend, who is very adamant about never telling anyone that he and Adam were more than friends (because, you know, early 2000s homophobia and such).

But things get a little brighter for Adam when he meets Charlie, an undergrad teacher's assistant who gives him all sorts of advice about surviving the school. He introduces him to Professor Bombay, who Charlie claims is the only reason he survived his first year and quickly becomes Adam's favourite teacher, and Charlie's childhood friend Connie, who aspires to be a state senator one day. Charlie's charismatic and even if he's not the most well-liked person at Harvard, Adam feels a weight lifted off his shoulders once he becomes friends with him and Connie. Things become a little easier.

Just before he and Charlie start getting really close, Adam meets Casey at a local diner on a day he's feeling particularly upset and alone, and the two start bonding almost immediately. (He bullshits his way into scaring an ex-husband of hers with legal repercussions he has no idea about and she basically adopts him in return.) It takes him an embarrassing amount of time to realise that it's not just a coincidence that Casey and Charlie share the same last name, which results in poor Adam feeling extremely embarrassed for not connecting the dots sooner while Charlie's having the time of his life teasing him for it. Eventually, when the dust of that settles, Charlie and Adam join forces to set Casey and Bombay up, their schemes borderline ridiculous at times, but they'rere not exactly failing.

And after realising he isn't the Warriors moron she thought he was for going on five years, Linda starts warming up to Adam, which is surprisingly nice? She figures out on her own that there used to be something between him and her fiancé, and is more understanding of Adam than she is mad. Linda actually spills to him the lengths Adam's ex had to go through to actually get into Harvard, aligning more with the rumours about Adam's acceptance being bought than having the aptitude for the law that Linda and Adam share. (This may be me saying Linda and Adam friendship rights, what of it-- /lh)

To make things all the better, Bombay chooses Adam, Linda, Connie, Charlie, and Adam's ex to be on his legal team for a murder case he's responsible for (and while he knows about Adam and Charlie's ploys to hook him up with Charlie's mom, they're his favourites, so he doesn't say anything).

And this is just so much better than anything he had before. After all the initial unpleasantness, Linda and Connie become some of the most genuine friends he's ever had. He misses Guy and Jesse, of course, and he'd never take them for granted, but back when he was with them at the fraternity, a part of him was still being as superficial as he had been in middle and high school. Being authentic for once in his life is liberating.

And Charlie's just about the most considerate person Adam's ever met. Adam doesn't even mind when Charlie teases him over his absurd and juvenile insults because he's just this source of light for Adam, supporting him and always pushing him to be the best version of himself. His ex hardly even exists when Charlie's around because his energy is just so contagious that Adam starts falling for him long before he even realises it. (And when Jesse and Guy come to visit, there's a moment where it all clicks and the four of them realise their history together, however brief. I strongly maintain that they'd be that Starkid meme: "Fucking Hawks? We hated you guys!" "We hated ourselves!" But it does make Adam realise how much better off he would've been if he had Charlie and his team when he was little instead of the Hawks, and it just further makes him understand that people like Larson and Rick Riley just aren't worth it.)

But there's also another revelation Adam goes through. Between helping Casey, his rigorous studies, and his position working with/for Bombay, something just clicks for Adam. He likes being able to help people, fighting for the good guys who may not have the resources they need to be properly defended. Practicing law calls to him in the same way hockey did; it's the feeling of knowing this is what he's meant to do. He still loves hockey, he always will, but it helps him finally grasp that there's a world for him outside of it; when hockey ends for him, there's something equally as rewarding that he can pursue, which was something he never thought he would have.

I haven't a single coherent thought about this au past that point except for these little inklings of an ending--

There's absolutely no SA scene like the movie had; Bombay's just Adam and Charlie's favourite teacher and those are his boys, so he's going to make sure they succeed as if his life depends on it.

With that said, Bombay believes in them both enough to let them finish the case because with their joined determination/stubbornness (and Adam's in with the defendant), Adam and Charlie are a force to be reckoned with and he knows it.

After a handful of comedic failures, they do end up succeeding at their attempts to set Casey and Bombay up, and they start living together sometime during the kids' Junior year :) (All I'm asking is for one (1) story with a Casey/Gordon endgame-- I just think they're neat--)

Linda dumps her fiancé (as she should) and goes on to live her best wlw life as a successful lawyer. (If I'm not mistaken, Linda's actress actually is a lawyer, which is a pretty cool fun fact!!)

Adam and Linda's ex gets the Warner ending because, man, screw that guy /lh (rip to Larson if this is him, I'm sure you'll get a nice endgame in some other universe, king)

Honorary mention for Connie, who was going long distance with Guy this entire time to everyone but Jesse's shock, and they get their Game Changers endgame of State Senator Connie Moreau and stay-at-home dad Guy Germaine with their seven -- sorry, three -- children :)

Adam's an absolute bundle of nerves after graduation, which definitely concerns Charlie. So, when he asks if he's okay, Adam starts nervously monologuing about their time together until he runs out of breath. He ends it by proposing to him, and Charlie smiles so surely at him when he says yes. They both become damn good public defenders and stay engaged until the point they can legally get married, but they're practically husbands long before that happens.

Also, if I did my math right (which I should’ve, it’s my entire basis for my Share Your Address series), the Ducks’ would have the same graduating class year as Elle Woods anyway (2004), which is pretty neat!

Apparently it’s my weekend for wordy meta: sorry. 🤷 This is what happens when I take a break from job #2 and rediscover the concept of free time, I guess: I reread craft books and analyze the crap out of my favorite stories. Maybe I should take up knitting?

Anyhoo.

Jeff Gerke proposed something in Plot vs. Character that has stuck with me since I first read it, which is that every protagonist has a primary inner hang-up they’re constantly tripping over on their way to their goals. This doesn’t have to be some earth-shattering thing, as long as it’s significant to the character. They don’t even have to be aware of it. (Often, I think, they’re not: they discover it somewhere between catalyst and climax—usually closer to the latter—after barking up at many perfectly innocent trees on their way to the truth.) Gerke called this the knot, which is a nicely catchy term.

Hardly an original thought, and it applies to a specific approach to story structure, but I think it’s useful not only for writing but for reading/watching fiction.

And yeah, it’s formulaic, as a lot of general writing advice tends to be…but in this case, I find the simplicity appealing. Advice on characterization can get insanely specific, and after incoherent mumble years of studying the art of storytelling in its written and theatrical forms, the firmest conclusion I’ve come to is that I don’t think it really needs to be. Pin the big character stuff down, shove ‘em into a story, and let the plot do the work of revealing the character’s essence: that’s what plots are for. Too much detail in the prep phase can be as limiting as too little.

Which may seem like an odd thing to say coming from a nerd who likes to outline her long-form fiction in Excel and then graph it to the major elements of the Plot Mountain, but, dammit (janet): discovery is as much fun in creation as it is in consumption.

Basically, what this-all speaks to is internal conflict.

Conflict in plot is another thing where there are doorstoppers of advice on the shelves and online, some of it tedious and some of it great, but what it pretty much boils down to is desire + opposition, yes? The external stuff—character vs. character, -vs. society, -vs. nature, etc.—drives action. The internal stuff—character vs. self—drives character development. It's not that simple, of course: they do interact. The action grinds away the outer layers of the character, revealing the essential self and forcing personal change. That change pushes the action forward as the character tries new avenues around/over/through the obstacles between them and their goals.

Conflicting values, blind spots, guilt, shame, shit coping mechanisms, obsessions, fears, heavy secrets…the internal conflict is always psychological, and unless it’s confronted, everything the character does to leap the hurdles of external opposition is likely to fail, or at least to resolve incompletely. They can face down all the dragons they want, but they won’t get out of their own way until they face themselves. This is Gerke’s Knot.

What I love about Hwang Si-mok as a character—okay, yes, one of the things I love—is that Lee Soo-yeon pulled quite the bait-and-switch on the audience with his internal conflict. The side-effects of his brain surgery create major conflict, so significant to character development and action that it justifies a prologue sequence to set it up and various moments of exposition in the first half of the season to establish the details. Look, all of this explanation says: here is his knot, his central conflict, given to you right from the first scene. How will he overcome this?

Except that’s not actually it.

It’s external, despite its physical location within his brain. It was done to him; whether by his choice or not, we don’t know. External forces can cause a knot, but by definition they aren’t internal conflict. This was gloriously clear by the time Si-mok faced his reflection in the interrogation room with Yoon Se-won to reject aloud the idea that his condition and the effects of its treatment made him inherently dangerous, something he’d carried and possibly believed all season, and presumably ever since he was a child. He was judging Yoon Se-won’s choices, yes: but he was also saying We are not the same, you and I. Your choices are not mine. This is not who I am.

This is why I love Lee Soo-yeon's writing. It's so smart.

This is also why I love complex characters so much: so many layers. Si-mok sheds several of his in season one, and each subtraction reveals new facets of his character: to the audience, to the other characters, and to himself. He achieves a more complete understanding of himself and brings that with him into the next season.

Has his true internal conflict been revealed? I don’t think so, which is one reason I am still, in the absence of any news confirming it, confident that a third season was at least planned. There have been some lovely, subtle hints at what that internal conflict is, and god knows my headcanon for it is locked and loaded, but the arc of character growth isn’t yet complete: he still has miles to go.

Fingers crossed we’ll get to learn about it in 2022.

i got you my pal dont worry!!

law school, im gonna be honest and say i know like nothing about law or law school so pls ignore any inconsistencies or inaccuracies

lwj goes to law school and he is definitely the top student in his class. they’ve been there for like a month and everyone already knows he’s gonna be the best

his one and only competition is this dude called wei wuxian but lwj isn’t particularly worried about him

so far they’re still in the stage of the course where they do the fun things to sucker people into doing the class for the semester so there’s been some practise debates and arguments and stuff in their tutorial classes

wei wuxian has that Charisma and like yeah all of his arguments are perfect but also he has an amazing smile and people are like yes i can trust him

(he’s definitely the sort to be like hm, the easy way to argue this case would be to quote some laws and use precedence to justify this but that’s boring)

lwj is also good at that sort of stuff because his arguments are perfect and everything is so perfectly researched that there should be no ground at all for someone to lodge a counterargument

(wei wuxian manages somehow and it makes lwj so mad)

but that’s whatever lwj thinks,, a lot of people join law thinking it’s gonna be like the tv shows and books and then get completely blindsided when it comes to the rote learning part or like the actual laws

and for all of wwx’s confidence, lwj hasn’t actually seen wwx so much as touch the textbook/s and he always studies in the law library so he knows that wwx has probably never even been there bc he hasn’t seen him even once (why’s he looking? bc he needs to see which books wwx uses to study,, bc there has to be something going on there,, obviously)

then they do their first like proper written assignment and lwj and wwx tie for the highest scores and now lwj has a Rival and he refuses to lose to someone who thinks that putting a ‘-us’ sound at the end of a word makes it latin (did wwx say habeas corpus and then point at a soft drink and go sprite-us can-us,,, maybe,,,,)

anyway! lwj and wwx are kinda rivals for the top spot and it’s one of those situations where one test lwj wins by a point but then the next test wwx gets full marks and they just keep exchanging the top spot in class

and this whole time wwx is like The Worst to have in class. he’s always interrupting to ask questions or just straight up not listening and spends the class doodling pictures of rabbits (they’re cute but wwx is terrible and he’s not allowed to make cute drawings)

so after a few months the most horrible thing happens.... they get put together in a project and lwj is like ugh. internally of course but his face is also saying ugh

the first time wwx and lwj get together to work on the project, lwj is prepared with a proper list of tasks to do all nicely split up between the two of them and a schedule for when they should get certain parts done by.

needless to say, lwj does not expect wwx to be ready, but wwx is definitely on top of things

he rocks up and is like yeah let’s do this, this and this and have them done by this time - basically proposing to do everything that lwj has already written down

and lwj is pleasantly surprised and is like hm maybe i misjudged wwx and decides to like re-evaluate his opinion on him

in doing so he realises that when he’d never seen wwx studying, it wasn’t an exaggeration at all. he’s never seen wwx so much as touch a textbook or spend more than a minute on a laptop doing something that wasn’t minesweeper or solitaire

but wwx is also making all of their deadlines and even adds extra information and resources to their document that could be useful elsewhere and sometimes he shows up to their study sessions and he looks absolutely exhausted

eventually lwj manages to get the truth out and wwx is just like yeah it’s easier to get worse grades than a genius but if you both study and you still get lower grades, it’s not easy,, for jc or for me

so wwx usually studies at night when his brother is asleep and lwj is like that’s bad, you can’t keep that up and just when wwx is about to go off at him lwj is like you can come study at my place

and thus begins the wonderful time where everything is alright and lwj falls in love with wwx

they work really well together and wwx is strangely considerate and nice? when he finds out lwj likes rabbits, he goes out and buys bunny post-it notes for lwj and starts to always bring him a doodle of bunnies every time he comes over. he always gets his work done on time, early even, and his work is always so brilliant and every time wwx smiles at him, lwj feels warm inside etc etc

for a long while lwj is like yes (: this is friendship (: bc he’s never had a crush before but then on the day they submit their project wwx is like hey,, the two of us make a great team,, we should always work together,, now and next year and even when we graduate,, i want to help the innocent people who need our help and i think i’d like it a lot if you joined me and lwj has his oh moment

they get a perfect score on the project of course and even after it finishes, wwx keeps coming over to lwj’s place to study or just hang out and lwj is just falling more and more for wwx each day

they’re best friends now and everyone gets used to seeing them work together on projects and then turn around to try and decimate each other when they’re working one on one and lwj thinks that he might just be the happiest he’s ever been

but then one day wwx doesn’t show up to class. it shouldn’t be strange but wwx has never missed class even once and he ends up hearing from lxc who heard from jgy that wwx was caught sabotaging some other student’s work (the other student was jzxun, who had a fondness for playing devil’s advocate and other than wwx once telling him that his argument was shit, wwx never spoke to him or seemed to know who he was but lwj is a bit too angry to remember that)

he manages to find wwx outside of his dorms as he’s moving out and he’s just like why did you do that? and wwx is like oh y’know,, bc he’s not really sure what’s happening himself,, one second he was at the top of his class and the next he was being brought before a board and being told that he was being expelled but he’s not going to tell lwj that bc lwj would definitely try and stand up for him and then they’d both get expelled

but lwj is furious and just spits out well if our dreams meant so little to you then maybe it’s a good thing you failed now,, bc his mother was a lawyer who took all these little jobs that helped people who actually needed the help and lwj was looking forward to doing that with wwx and he doesn’t even seem to care that now they can’t do that

wwx flinches and then smiles at him and just cheerily says, that’s me and leaves. he doesn’t look back and lwj doesn’t chase after him.

lwj doesn’t see him again for years (you can do 13 or 5 or however long you feel like)

lwj is a fully licensed lawyer and he’s working for the family company and he spends half of his time working on cases and uses the rest of his time to do like outreach programs where he goes and visits schools and runs sessions on what it’s like to be a lawyer, how to apply, and to provide assistance to any students who decide to study law at uni

and then at one of these programs he meets this kid, wen yuan, who is ridiculously bright and enthusiastic and has a smile that seems oddly familiar

at the end of the second session he comes up to lwj and is like mr. lan, is your name lan wangji? and lwj just says yes, expecting the kid to be a fan of one of his cases or something but then wen yuan is like oh wow! i thought i recognised you from my dad’s photo!

and lwj isn’t expecting much but he asks what the photo looks like and wen yuan pulls out this photo from his pocket and lwj immediately recognises it,, it’s the only photo he has of him and wwx

your father is wei ying? lwj asks him and wen yuan is like yes, hesitates, and then asks, would you like to see him?

and that’s how lwj finds himself following wen yuan to some dinky little office that has a plaque outside that reads wen and wei

(wen ning is the nicest and sweetest person ever and lots of people underestimate him but then he’s an absolute monster on court. he gets up and completely decimates the opponent and then at the end is like (: it was so nice to meet you!! i am baby!! and all that,, you know our boy)

anyway they walk in and wwx turns to greet wen yuan but then he sees lwj and is like woah! you! and he’s not sure whether to hide or go and hug lwj so he just gives him a fist bump,, like a bro,, and immediately wants to shrivel up and die

anyway they get the reunion stuff out of the way, swelling music, tender wrist holding, lots of staring, lwj silently declaring his wholehearted love for wwx and refusing to believe rumours about him again even though he doesn’t actually know what happened, you know how it goes

from wwx’s side of things,, after he got kicked out he went to some small uni. good in its own right but not known for their law program and ended up specialising in family law

the first case he ever won was for the wens to have the right to keep custody of a-yuan and the first case wen ning ever won was to let wwx adopt a-yuan bc i’m soft like that

so wwx has just been kinda vibing,, being a single dad, living with the wens and helping to make that difference he always promised he would

now this isn’t gonna be some au where lwj goes oh my! i must give up my high salary job and work with wwx! bc lwj has been doing good stuff at his current job and for all of his family’s stuffiness, they run a fair and just company

but! he does end up helping wwx when wwx gets a letter with a bunch of information about the jins and how they’re actually super corrupt and evil (big surprise,,) and how wwx was maybe definitely framed bc he was doing some casual work on the side and stumbled across some bad shit on the jins back in uni

lwj ends up being the one to take the case officially but wwx is definitely the guy leading it and so lwj ends up spending most of his time at the wen-wei office

lwj definitely bonds with wen yuan, who also wants to go into law, and writes him recommendation letters and helps him edit his applications and stuff

(and one day wen yuan is like leaving you was the hardest thing dad ever did and i dont think you appreciated how much he cared about you. he really did think that he annoyed you ‘til the end and lwj is like no! he didn’t! and wen yuan is like yeah i know but you gotta tell him and lwj really does mean to but the time is never right or something like that but also wen yuan is all but calling lwj dad at this point)

anyway they end up going to court, side by side, working as a team just as they promised to do and just as they finish their final day on the case, ended with the jury ruling jgy guilty and wwx’s reputation all but saved, wwx turns around and flings himself at lwj

is he crying? is he laughing? a bit of both tbh but wwx ends up confessing right then and there, still on record and everything (is that how that works??? idk! let’s say it does)

and what can lwj do but make out with him?

did a news crew come in to film the results of this massive court case just to end up with five minutes of wangxian kissing?? maybe! but when it played on tv it meant wwx and lwj didnt have to actually tell anyone they got together

(and does lwj eventually pop the question using wwx’s bad latinification? yes and wwx is too busy laughing to accept at first but he does and they end up being the worst possible tutors for wen yuan as he goes through law school bc they keep being all gross and lovey-dovey and acting like law school is the most romantic place in the world)

I don't know if I should send this ask or not. But here we go. I live in India. Last year I prepared the proposal for admission to a PhD programme. I didn't do too well at the interview, that's okay. There were many candidates who were better than me, that's also okay. What's not okay is, on the day of the interview there were rumours floating around that the one and only seat would definitely go to the person who had some connections to the student branch of the ruling party. I didn't want to believe this. We know that it turned out to be true. Now, I'm not saying that I deserved to get in when compared to other people who were applying there, but that one person who did get in was claiming before the interview that he/she/they had made the proposal in the last few days, using Wikipedia links as references in bibliography despite the knowledge that it's not acceptable. I never expected to be so bitter about this after 4 months, but here we are. I am willing to work harder to get accepted at various places, but sometimes when I remember this I just lose hope. I wonder if I am being annoying by sending you this. (Please ignore this ask if that's the case.) I really want some advice on how to deal with this kind of a situation. Thanks in advance!

Sounds frustrating! Though it's not right that this has allegedly happened, is there anything you can do to change it? If no, then what can you do but try and put it out of your mind?

Think on this: would you even want to study at a place that has so little integrity that they let this go on? Many places are not true meritocracies, it's so annoying but also it's for the best that you saw the red flags now, so you can go in a different direction towards a place where your work will actually be appreciated. It's not only the institutions selecting candidates, you also deserve to be able to choose a place which has your back x

Part 1

ーIn the waiting room.ー

Kazuna: ‘ “Café Kazuna”?’

Tsubasa: ‘Yes. We received a proposal for a new project, called “Pretty Boy Intelligence Agency”. I heard that Masunaga-san will, in the setting as a café owner, give advice about love matters coming from the audience.’

Kazuna: ‘That sounds like an interesting project. Though I’m a bit worried about me as the lead…..’

Mikado: ‘What are you saying! If you need advice, there is no one better suited for this role than you, leader!’

Momotaro: ‘Leader as the owner….. They definitely are a match.’

Kazuna: ‘I hope you’re right.’

Tsubasa: ‘There also seems to be a direction where you give out a latte accompanied with a brief comment at the end of the segment….. I wonder if you will be fine, because you will have to challenge to make art on a latte?’

Kazuna: ‘I heard that latte art is difficult. I don’t know if I can do it well, but I want to try it out.’

Tatsuhiro: ‘….. Are you sure? Leader’s art skill isーー’

Tatsuhiro: ‘Hngh.’

Mikado: ‘Psst! Don’t say any more, Tatsu-dono!’

Kazuna: ‘What’s wrong? Tatsuhiro seems to be in pain…..’

Mikado: ‘No, no! There is nothing.’

Kazuna: ‘I-Is that so…..?’

Momotaro: ‘Latte art seems to be quite a bit of work, but the project itself is simple and I think it will make the fans happy.’

Kazuna: ‘You’re right. The smell of coffee can’t reach the outside of the screen, but….. I hope I can create an atmosphere where the people who are watching feel warm and soft.’

Hikaru: ‘I’m sure leader can do it! And then it will become a popular segment. A café with a handsome owner who listens to your worries with a delicious latte is the best! You usually want to go to such a place!’

Mikado (excited): ‘I will also come eight times a week!’

Kazuna: ‘Ahaha, there are also days where one comes twice a day, huh.’

ーIn a café, during lesson.ー

Owner: ‘ーーIn this way, drawing something by pouring milk in is a technique called free pour. Let’s try this as a sample.’

Kazuna: ‘Yes, I will try it. First I turn the pitcher to make the milk glossy….. Like this?’

Owner: ‘Yes, that’s good.’

Kazuna: ‘Then, from a high position I pour in the milk…..’

Kazuna: ‘Oh!’

Kazuna: ‘….. I am sorry. I used too much force and it spilled over.’

Owner: ‘It’s fine, everyone is like this at the beginning. Come on, let’s try one more time.’

Kazuna: ‘Yes…..!’

Kazuna (concentrated): ‘Pour from a high place…..’

Owner: ‘That’s good, please gradually bring the cup closer.’

Kazuna: ‘Huh….. I can’t make a milk circle?’

Owner: ‘When the pitcher is in a high position, it will cause momentum and the milk mixes with the espresso, unfortunately.’

Kazuna: ‘It’s better to bring the cup closer at the last moment….. One more time, please!’

Owner: ‘Of course.’

Kazuna: ‘Thank you very much. But….. you can’t say it’s a heart.’

Owner: ‘I think the strength you used to cross the milk was too weak. It’s important to use boldness and delicacy properly in each process.’

Kazuna: ‘Boldness and delicacy…..’

Kazuna: ‘Can I try it one more time from the start?’

Owner: ‘Of course. Let’s keep trying.’

Kazuna: ‘Yes!’ _________

Owner: ‘Now, please carefully shake the pitcher to create a layer.’

Kazuna: ‘Carefully, but without stopping the flow…..’

(That’s the 20th attempt….. I hope this time it works.)

Kazuna: ‘At the end, push through….. With great force!’

Tsubasa: ‘!’

Kazuna: ‘….. Did it work…..?’

Tsubasa: ‘You did it, Masunaga-san! It is such a beautiful heart…..!’

Owner: ‘I agree, the layer, as well, is clean, how wonderful. A result that can be served to the customers.’

Kazuna: ‘Thank you very much…..!’

Owner: ‘If you master the basics of the heart shape, then you can apply them to other patterns. Let’s practice making a stable heart after a short break.’

Kazuna: ‘Yes, I look forward to it.’

Kazuna: ‘Fuu…..’

Kazuna (shocked): ‘….. Oh.’

Tsubasa: ‘Masunaga-san?’

Part 3

Tsubasa: ‘Did something happen?’

Kazuna: ‘No…. I didn’t think my failures were like this, so I was shocked just now. I was too focused to notice.’

Kazuna: ‘I am sorry, owner. I was being wasteful….’

Owner: ‘No, don’t worry about them. That’s something you can’t avoid.’

Kazuna: ‘Thank you. But…. Is it fine to drink them, since I have already made them? All of them may not be possible, but I feel sorry for throwing them away.’

Owner: ‘Yes, of course. Please don’t overdo it.’

Tsubasa: ‘May I also join you?’

Kazuna: ‘Sumisora-san…. Thanks.’

Owner: ‘Well, then I shall join as well.’

Kazuna: ‘Yes, please.’

Kazuna: ‘…. Hm. This latte is…. Really delicious….’

Tsubasa: ‘It really is! I do not mind that the latte is already cold.’

Kazuna: ‘You’re right. It’s not only the taste, but also the smell of it is really great…. I was distracted by the technique of the latte art, but I can understand very well why the owner is so particular about the taste.’

Owner: ‘Haha, it makes me happy, when you can say that. Especially this time, as we are using beans of the best quality.’

Kazuna: ‘Is it fine to use such high-quality beans during practice?’

Owner: ‘That’s because it’s practice. I always do that so that one doesn’t feel like it’s okay to waste them.’

Kazuna: ‘I understand….’

Kazuna: ‘Huh? But this is the first time that I am told this….’

Owner: ‘I didn’t say something, because I thought it was unnecessary in your case. Masunaga-san surely is a person that doesn’t waste beans for nothing, no matter what quality.’

Kazuna (surprised): ‘Owner….’

Owner: ‘As someone who handles food and drinks, this is an important quality. You can become a great owner yourself.’

Kazuna: ‘Thank you very much. This time I am going to play the role of “the owner” for work, but…. I firmly face my feelings as if I were a real owner. I wish to serve the person asking for advice a delicious and beautiful latte with a feeling of relief.’

Owner: ‘Indeed. I will do my best to help you.’

Kazuna: ‘Thank you, I appreciate it.’

(It looks like Masunaga-san’s honest feelings were conveyed…. I really think he can become a great owner.)

Part 4

Hikaru: ‘I’m coming in!’

Kazuna: ‘Hello. A table for five?’

Mikado: ‘Tunk! We’re greeted by a handsome owner ♪.’

Hikaru: ‘Leader is a superb owner! Is this here the rumoured “Café Kazuna”!?’

Tatsuhiro: ‘My bad, leader. Even though you’re practicing, it’s so noisy.’

Kazuna: ‘No, I’m sorry to have you come with me. Since today will be the last practice, I wanted to hear everyone’s thoughts.’

Mikado: ‘That much is no problem! Right, Momotasu?’

Momotaro: ‘Yeah. I came looking forward to a delicious latte.’

Kazuna: ‘Then I will prepare the cups without much delay. Sumisora-san, take a seat as well.’

Tsubasa: ‘Thank you very much.’

Kazuna: ‘At first, from the basic heart….’

Kazuna: ‘Here it is, enjoy.’

Hikaru: ‘Ooh~! It’s really a heart!’

Momotaro (smiles): ‘There are so many layers of milk. It’s delicious….’

Kazuna: ‘Yes, that’s the leaf shape.’

Mikado: ‘Eeh! You are able to do such a difficult shape!?’

Tatsuhiro: ‘Even though you only poured in the milk, that’s amazing….’

Kazuna: ‘Fufu, thanks. It’s all thanks to the guidance of this store’s owner.’

Hikaru: ‘Say, say, can you also do things like animals or characters?’

Kazuna: ‘That’s etching. We practiced that, too, more or less, but….’

Mikado (excited): ‘Yes, yes! I request Mamirin!’

Momotaro: ‘Mika, that’s probably difficult to do. There are many parts as well.’

Momotaro: ‘It’s fine, it has eyes, a nose and ears. It’s unmistakably a dog.’

Kazuna (smiles): ‘The point I’m particular about is the laughing mouth.’

Hikaru: ‘Eh, that’s a mouth!?’

Mikado: ‘Cough, cough!’

Mikado: ‘Eh, this is a wonderful workmanship, but the level of art is too high that it may not reach the audience.’

Kazuna: ‘I see…. It’s something I’m proud of, but that’s difficult.’

Tatsuhiro: ‘The recording of the program should be soon, isn’t it? The latte seems to be no problem, but how about the part with giving advice?’

Momotaro: ‘It was love counseling, if I’m not wrong. That sounds quite hard.’

Kazuna (shocked): ‘Ah…. Indeed, you’re right. I didn’t think to this point. I don’t know the content of the consultation until the actual day, but it may be better to do a simulation of it.’

Hikaru: ‘Why do it now! We’re here after all!’

Mikado: ‘Agreed ♪. Well then, let us open “Café Kazuna”!’

Part 5

Hikaru: ‘Owner, listen, listen~.’

Kazuna: ‘Yes, if you are fine with me.’

Hikaru: ‘I have someone I’m interested in, but what should I do to make myself appealing?’

Kazuna: ‘Hm, let me see….’

Kazuna: ‘I am sorry that I can not say anything concrete, but is it not fine to meet them as you are now? If you force something, then it will be painful. You will not be able to continue for long.’

Kazuna: ‘…. But, if you decide to act with the person you like in mind, that’s very wonderful I think. I will support you.’

Hikaru: ‘Kyaah! Thanks, leaー, no, owner!’

Mikado (excited): ‘Owner, please listen! The person I like is sending me JOIN messages every day, does that mean they have an interest in me!?’

Hikaru: ‘Ooh, what a somewhat realistic matter….!’

Kazuna (smiles): ‘I see…. If the messages have some simple content, there might be some interest on their end. I would be happy if I could exchange a good morning with the person I like.’

Mikado: ‘Then he also likes me….!?’

Tatsuhiro: ‘Are you in a girl setting, or what.’

Hikaru: ‘Mikako, confess already~!’

Momotaro (surprised): ‘Hikaru as well….?’

Kazuna: ‘…. However, if the content is about work or something practical, then it may be better to think about it calmly one more time.’

Hikaru & Mikado: ‘Ooh~.’

Hikaru: ‘That feels kind of correct!’

Mikado: ‘In reality I do not have to worry about this, but I feel relieved…. For the time being, there is no such interest!’

Momotaro: ‘About that, I wonder if the JOIN messages were business ones.’

Tatsuhiro: ‘I’m glad you cooled off, Sekimura….’

Hikaru: ‘Here, here! I also want to try out the role of the owner! Tatsu, ask me for advice!’

Tatsuhiro: ‘What!? Impossible, absolutely impossible.’

Mikado: ‘It is fictional, so isn’t it fine? Come on, set your feelings free, Tatsumi-san!’

Tatsuhiro: ‘Who’s Tatsumi!!’

Hikaru: ‘Hahaha! Tatsumi - that sounds nice!’

Momotaro (smiles): ‘Tatsumi is a shy person, isn’t she. It can’t be helped then.’

Tatsuhiro: ‘Hey, Onzai, are you against me, too….!?’

Tsubasa: ‘Fufu.’

Kazuna: ‘Sumisora-san.’

Tsubasa: ‘Yes?’

Kazuna: ‘Here, please.’

Tsubasa: ‘Waah. A latte with a heart flower…. How cute. I feel like I am seeing this pattern for the first time.’

Kazuna: ‘It’s a tulip. To be honest, I practiced, so that I could show it to Sumisora-san.’

Tsubasa: ‘Eh, to me?’

Kazuna: ‘You were busy, yet you came with me to many practices. I wanted to give you the most beautiful art I can manage.’

Tsubasa: ‘Thank you. It somehow is a waste to drink….’

Kazuna: ‘Don’t hold back. When I get better in the future I want to try making an original character for Sumisora-san.’

Victor’s Aura- A Character Aura Study

This post is my take on Victor’s aura, taken from my knowledge and intuition to depict what kind of aura he has! I did one on Gavin, as well as Gavin’s astrological birth chart so if you haven’t seen them, you can read them after this post!

What is an Aura? “Aura” by the dictionary is “the distinctive atmosphere or quality that seems to surround and be generated by a person, thing, or place”.

It’s essentially the electromagnetic energy field that surrounds all living things. It’s the magnetic field of vibration like how a lighted candle is lit and how a scent or perfume surrounds a flower. In fact, it’s correctly described as an extension of the body. It’s a part of every cell. Your aura can be affected by anything, including traumas, memories and emotions. It can tell us a lot about a person’s mental, physical, emotional state, vitality and path of life. Habitual thoughts, emotions and even illnesses can be clearly revealed. If a person changes their long standing thoughts and emotions, the aura will too reflect that.

Victor’s Aura There are many layers to the aura but let’s start off with the “ground” colour. This is the main colour that dominates the aura both in size and intensity. It’s arguably the most important colour as it shows what the person should be doing in their life.

Victor’s main ground colour is dark yellow (keep in mind this is not defined as “murky”- when someone is lost and muddled in their life). People with dark yellow as their ground are confident, well adjusted and analytical. As a result, they take life one step at a time, one goal at a time, ensuring every project is seen through properly to completion to avoid problems and setbacks later. They are patient people, setting their worthwhile goals in no hurry to reach them, as they know without a doubt that they will obtain their deserved reward in the end. They prefer to do things rationally and in a logical manner, especially at work where they are required to make use of their good memory and love for detail. As they are ambitious and persistent, they often take up roles of leadership, responsibility and of importance. From his corrections on MC’s reports to the food he makes at Souvenir (that is insisted to be cooked according to certain temperatures), Victor is no doubt a detail-oriented leader even whether if the goal he wants to achieve is related to work or not.

MC: It’s a sort of mark that can be left in literature or in a photograph… and I can feel it. Victor’s eyes are lowered. In his clear and tranquil eyes, there are ripples of light and shadows. Victor: Such as? The smile tugging at the corner of his mouth is clear, and I ponder this seriously. MC: For example, the way I write proposals has changed. The format of my proposals has changed. The indent of the first line, font size 15, 1.5 spacing between lines… it’s the format you find most pleasing to the eye! Victor’s eyebrow quirks. Victor: That’s all? MC: There’s more! I’ve become so much more picky with food. I never used to complain that food tastes bad, but eating at Souvenir has cultivated my palate. Now, when I eat even Michelin meals, I feel as if something’s lacking… -CN Exhibition Date

“Slow and steady wins the race” is the moral that they live by, but sometimes adhering to this credo may frustrate others as they can be so analytical and detail oriented at times- usually at great lengths. Victor’s Exhibition and Tender Regards Date are very useful sources of information in relation to these topics, as it displays Victor’s deep emotions of affection to MC and highlights the importance of expressing emotions to those you love. This is applied to Victor’s strict schedules in his day to day life, such as taking on what time he sleeps and when he gets up to go on his morning jogs. They need to consider new ideas before grudgingly accepting them. This is especially applied to when Victor always says “just this once” to MC when he’s being “childish” with her (but we really know that isn’t the case, he knows this all too well, too).

Next is Victor’s “radiating” colour. This represents his interests and motivations. It adds strength to the ground colour. They can work well in harmony, some can conflict.

I would take Victor’s radiating as violet. Violet is a very highly spiritual colour, as people with this colour as their radiating will have a very spiritual take on life, as they are deep thinkers who like to analyse everything and think matters though logically. They are also naturally intuitive. Violet radiatings have the ability to come up with unique and unusual solutions to problems. As they enjoy learning, they have the potential to become experts in their field of endeavour- which is no surprise for Victor as he’s basically an “on top of the world tyrant” in the industry of finances. In addition, they feel things deeply, but rather operate things on an emotionally free level- again with the ground aura traits to enhance this! However, Victor too, has a high EQ despite this.

Overall, Victor’s aura of darker yellow and violet depict him as more of a straightforward kind of person, hardworking and articulate, however soon we realise there’s more to what we see of Victor, like how MC thinks that Victor comes off as a “heartless CEO” throughout the main story chapters but he slowly warms up to her whilst determining to prove her wrong. Victor is wise, and doesn’t bother to put in his personal efforts to where it’s not needed, but when it’s up to him- he strives to go all the way for perfection and with the best of his ability. He spends a lot of time in deep contemplation to determine his plans of attack which allows him to execute them well. His values and worth ethics will always in the end allow him to make time for MC, no matter how busy he is :)

And lastly…

Victor leans against the window, his face still written with distaste, but he does not attempt to remove that childish-looking blanket. He brings the red cup to his lips and gently blows on it. The warm light encases him, softening the aura surrounding him. His outline also appears gentler. He doesn’t look as impossible to get close to. My eyes land on Victor, but he doesn’t seem to notice. He puts down the cup in his hands, lowering his eyes, as though deep in thought. This is a Victor I have never seen before… In this moment, he seems to have put down his stubbornness and distant aura - becoming someone within reach. Only now does Victor finally feel my gaze. He raises his head to look at me. -CN Warm Date

All of a sudden, he lifts his other hand gently. A water droplet pelts onto his palm, as though pulling him into the pattering rain. Seeing this, I find myself subconsciously frozen in place. Because of the enshrouding misty rain, the Victor before me appears warmer and more tender than usual. -CN Tender Regards Date

It always has and always will be MC to see this side of him- the tenderness and the willingness of how he opens up to her- his aura willingly to embrace hers too. Fun fact- auras can deflect off one another if you’re with someone you dislike. But when it’s with two people in love, their auras connect, combine and produce an even brighter and bigger accommodating aura for the both of them. He’s certainly living working towards to achieve his greatest life goals- both in his businesses and being with MC, striving together to make great changes and milestones in their respective industries. Without a doubt, she has helped Victor’s aura grow, expand and shine the many rays through his doubts, allowing a light from within to burn brighter and evolve him into more of the brilliant, hardworking and tender man we know today.
