Any new fic in the works? I love your writing!
aw thanks anon!!! i do have a few things sitting in my drafts that i would love to (attempt to) finish because i miss writing, but i don't really have a lot of motivation as of late.
i do have a lot of ideas, like, i've been dying to explore adam/fulton. there's something about how their first interaction was fulton throwing adam/the hawks in the trash 😭but then they stick together once adam joins the team. like how did that come to be? did they kind of gravitate toward each other because the other ducks have known each other for longer, probably had their inside jokes and stuff, and adam/fulton felt like outsiders? i've always loved how fulton immediately defended adam vs portman in d2 despite the bash bros bonding/becoming friends. also this deleted montage from the D3 script:
Tumblr media
FULTON FELT BETRAYED!!! i mean, the ducks all did, probably, but i like how they singled out fulton here. i think it'd be fun to really explore their dynamics but tbh i don't know if i can write them accurately. IDK WE'LL SEE!

@slytherpuff4 @mysemantics
You guys said you wanted to know everything I've noticed about mighty ducks
Here are my thoughts and things I've noticed as of 4/24/23
When they first meet Jesse speaks to Bombay first and claims that "his domain" is a drug free zone
They all thought Bombay has a gun first
Goldberg said he wasn't the goalie for long, he was moving back to Philadelphia
Who dressed these kids.
Connie likes Madonna
The hawks (Adams og team) have the same chant that Orion makes the ducks have in the first half of his coaching
Goldberg hates being a goalie, so why does he do it
Even his team wants a new goalie
Banks is so gay "it'd make great bathroom reading" to a porn mag...c'mon now
Bombays a little funny guy he needs to be so fr
He struggles to say sorry LIKE BFFR 🙄🙄
The only reason the ducks are so good is because Gordon got ducks worth a jersey
Fulton has a lot of rumors going on with him
BOMBAYS COMPLETELY COMFORTABLE WITH DRAGGING FULTON DOWN?! SIR WHAT
Goldbergs jewish
It's always Fulton and Charlie together
Adam has an older brother
QUACK QUACK QUACK QUACK QUACK MR DUCKS WORTH QUACK QUACK QUACK QUACK QUACK
Fulton has really nice handwriting (writing the principal thingy) like really really nice handwriting holy shit
Karp (Tommy) shoving Peter in his locker
BANKS IS SO INSECURE PLEASE HES SO SWEET LEAVE HIM BEEE
ooo the Jessman
Jesse's dad and Charlie's moms friendship is so cute
Guy telling Fulton advice and then winking at connie
Tammy's real mean but she's so cool
Connie and guy holding hands while skating
Fulton and Adam sitting next to each
GUY AND CONNIE HOLDING HANDS (GUY GRABBED HER HAND OMGGG!!)
Adam gets nervous at the sight of his old team
Charlie and Coach cooking together
Charlie's mom used to sculpt and she paints now
She rambles when she's nervous
HEIDI IS SUCH A GOOD MOM 😭😭😭
The driver stays with Bombay the whole season
The ducks in the standing line talking shit
Adam looking away from his old team during the line
Larson (from the hawks) stays with Banks until the paramedics get there
ADAM AND JESSE TALKING DURING THE PARAMEDICS CHECK UP
THE REALIZATION THAT REILLY NO LONGER HAS CONTROL
FULTON OFFERING TO ROCK SOMEONE'S SHIT
FULTONS SLAP SHOTS
HIS CELEBRATION UGH
Fulton flips a guy into the box
"He barely touched em"
Gordon tries out for the minors
That's why he gets hurt in the beginning of d2
Avermans passive aggressive
Coach Orions actor is really good
Fultons actor actually plays more hockey then the rest
Linda is only there for Charlies relationship. She doesn't hold any significance to the story.
Julie's an A student
Dean's wayy nicer to the warriors in D3 than expected
Suddenly in D3, Averman can't stop??? Luis and him switched I guess
Dean's voice gets higher when upset.
Averman does a little dance when dean starts to get undressed in the penalty box
PORTMANS TAKING A DANCE CLASS?
THE ROMANCE BETWEEN JULIE AND SCOOTER WAS UNCALLED FOR AND I WILL NOT STAND FOR IT WHERE DID IT EVEN FUCKIN COME FROM?
Fulton and Portman crushing Orion in a hug
Charlie and his mom just... casually talking next to Luis and some girl swapping spit..
Goldberg suddenly can't (roller) skate in d3 but in D1 they were all Rollin around the mall?
Tommy is never mentioned again
Neither is Tammy
What happened to them?
Did they leave?
What happened to banks?? (His injury)
Kenny's a pessimist
Dean points girls out for Fulton to flirt with?
Wtf happened to Peter?
Charlie tackle hugs Portman after the jv vs v game
Ken was in the Olympics
Russ has an older brother
In d2 Kenny's a fucking menace but in D3 he's all
👉👈🥺 how do I trash talk
Fultons from Stillwater
Goldbergs from Philadelphia, so I wonder who the goalie was before he was there.
FULTON AND DWAYNE HUGGING WHEN THEY WIN THE JUNIOR OLYMPICS
Kenny was there helping Goldberg and Luis prank dwayne
Fulton sucks at flirting
Like literally he's so bad it's insane
Him and Dean laugh about it
It's actually so bad I love him
Why did they change averman and Luis
WHY DID THEY DO THAT TO LUIS OH MY GOD
THEY FUCKED HIM UPPPP
Why is dean like that.
I wonder why Tammy and Tommy's mom wouldn't be happy about hockey
Why was Tammy so mean?
Adam tells people what they can and can't do a lot.
Charlie thinks he'd be a better coach then a player
Goldberg was ab to rock Iceland's shit for calling him big boy and Dwayne and Kenny held him back
Iceland's mechanism is to go for the weak spots and play dirty
THEY HURT ADAMS ARM AGAIN???? HE CANNOT CATCH A BREAK
FULTON SND DEAN SUPPORTING KENNY WHEN HE BEATS THAT ICELAND GUY UP AWWW
THEM JOINING HIM IN THE BOX OMGGG
CONNIES SASSY TURN WHEN SHE TELLS OFF THE ICELAND GUY
RUSS AND CHARLIES FRIENDSHIP<3!!
FULTON AND DWAYNE HUGGING
OMG CHARLIE SETS HIS MARSHMALLOWS ON FIRE!
AVERMANS SINGING 😭😭🙏
Charlie's a Leo
Fulton and Russ looking at each other when doing the team cheer thingy like THE QUACK QUACK QUACK QUACK THINGY
Thanks for the breather AND THEN LINGERING EYES?
GOLDBERG LIKES JULIE MAYBE??
Dean threatening someone's life when he hurts Adams arm
Charlie wears vans?
Dwayne plays guitar!! (D2 end scene!)
When Bombay reads off the names when meeting the kids he says Averman, Dave; Conway, Charlie" was Avermans first name supposed to be Dave
The actor for the principal is the same teacher from d3 (Claudia Wilkens)
Dwayne and Fulton hang out a lot and are really affectionate friends? Like they always go for each other when hugging and stuff. ??? Maybe the actors were just close? Maybe there's more :O

Solar Opposites in Mighty Solars Issue #48: “Monster Mayhem Pt. 1” Ch. 3
Tumblr media
Back with Louise, she was looking around for help, until she sees Trevor popping out of the water as she screams and he jumps on her. Louise smiles in joy.
Louise: Trevor?
Trevor: Hey baby.
Trevor and Louise kiss. Then, they see Dr. Weatherstone arriving on a home ice slide made by her own hands and then, Janice flies over them with her own flight.
Dr. Weatherstone: Hey sis. What up?!
Louise: You guys are not gonna believe but I can create green lava! shows her new powers
Dr. Weatherstone: No way! I just got ice powers and when I found Janice, she told me she got air powers!
Trevor: No way! I got water powers too! We must tell the Mighty Solars, they can help us! Come on!
The quartet then takes off to find their fellow heroes. The Human Solars ran to the league witches of Earth-4 and the rest of their fellow Mighty Solars.
Human Terry: Guys, what happened?! What happened to to 5 Teen Witches?!
Human Jesse: I don’t know but this city is fancy!
Luke: Ugh! Someone has entered their minds and have made their form’s uncontrollable! When we tries to get them to hear us, someone went inside their minds and have turn them into the worst things possible, Titans!
The human Solars gasp.
Human Korvo: Oh no…we gotta save them or-
Miss Frankie/Nightsaw: Uh, quick fellow humans go get our fellow Mighty Solars aliens quick! winks at the Human Solars
Human Korvo: On it!
The human solars then went and hide behind the walls as they turn back into their Shlorpian forms.
Korvo: Mighty Solars, time to suit up!
Yumyulack, Jesse, Pupa, Sonya and Phoebe: Right!
Terry: Hell yeah!
The group suits up. And with that the Solar Opposites family transform into their Mighty Solars and runs up to meet the others.
Jesse Solar-Opposites/Fung-irl: Guys!
Rest of the Mighty Solars: Guys!
Darcy/Sonar Woman: Thank God you guys are okay!
Nova/Heartstar: We have big problems!
Yumyulack Solar-Opposites/Vil-Gil-An-T: What kind of problems?
Linda: The girls have lost control of their Zenith powers! They’ve become Kaiju beasts!
Terry Solar-Opposites/Mighton: That does NOT sound good.
Louise, Trevor, Dr. Weatherstone, Alice and Janice sees the Mighty Solars and runs up to them, which for Stacy G’s attention.
Stacy G: gasp Mom!
Louise: Stacy! I was so worried about you! kisses her on the forehead
Quasarblast smiles.
Trevor: Thank God we found you! You won’t be a fucking day we had-
Cherie: Guys! Duck!
Trevor: Huh?
The heroes, Earth-4 witches and their friends then see mega quintessence mutant Will attacking as they dodge her.
Jesse Solar-Opposites/Fung-irl: Jesus christ!
Montez: Ugh! These girls are literally not listening to us!
Phoebe MaCcarthy/Starburst: We have to save them, or worse…
Jesse Solar-Opposites/Fung-irl: KILL THEM?!
Mighty Solars: What?! No! That’s wrong! Fucking crazy! We’re not killers y’know.
Jesse Solar-Opposites/Fung-irl: Okay. Sorry. Geez.
Pupa Solar-Opposites/The Mighty Pupa: MURDER!
Yumyulack/Vil-Gil-An-T: It’s okay Pupa. Fung-irl just freaked out for a bit.
Terry Solar-Opposites/Mighton: It’s okay sweetie. We know you didn’t mean it.
Korvo Solar-Opposites/Quasarblast: I think what Starburst means is that we need to FIGHT them.
Suddenly, when the Five Kaiju Teen Witches combine their blast at the heroes, it ends up blasting Louise, Trevor, Alice, Dr. Weatherstone and Janice, which ends up powering them as they scream. As the dust clears, the heroes sees five new heroic figures as Stacy G looks in worried.
Stacy G: MOM!
Stacy G tries run up but Fung-irl stops her As the dust clears, like when the Calamity trio transformed in Amphibia it is revealed that Trevor, Louise, Alice, Janice and Dr. Weatherstone have received their own Mighty Solars super suits
Dr. Weatherstone/???: Woah!
Louise/???: voice gets distorted; lifts her green lava cape Swanky duds!
Vil-Gil-An-T‘s jaw drops in shock. Alice grins as she shoots a lightning spider web up at the sky as she grins and blows the smoke off of her finger.
Alice/???: Louise, I have no idea we can do that!
Dr. Weatherstone/???: Did you know about this?
Louise/???: Uh, nope. These powers feel way more intense than before.
Janice/???: floating behind Louise The powers must stack when used in tandem! H’no Classic synergy buff y’know.
Quasarblast suddenly thinks of something.
Korvo Solar-Opposites/Qausarblast: This is perfect! Maybe you guys can distract the girls while we-
Trevor/???: Guys! Look! I’m walking plasma of H2O! This is awesome!
Quasarblast shifts a little.
Korvo Solar Opposites/Qausarblast: As I was saying, you new five can help us distract the girls while we find a way to stop whoever is doing this to them!
Phoebe MacCarthy/Starburst: That could work!
Marissa: offscreen Oh will it?
The heroes gasp and then sees the dream amulet broken as smoke flies from it and then they see Marissa floating above the broken amulet.
Parker/Venus Tip: Oh no.
Min-Li: gasp What?! This is impossible?! You were supposed to be trapped and-
Marissa: It’s too late! These girls are now under my control!
Yumi: What do you mean?!
Marissa grins evilly which made Starburst growl and realize something.
Phoebe MacCarthy/Starburst: You bitch! It was you who did this! You’re a fucking psycho!
Quasarblast growls in anger upon hearing what Marissa did.
Korvo Solar-Opposites/Quasarblast: You monster! How could you-
Marissa: I had already some help! Someone who was willing to help me! It’s too late! These girls are now mine! Nothing can stop me-
Suddenly, a blast hits Marissa as she falls to the ground in pain and lets go her staff.
Terry Solar-Opposites/Mighton: What the fuck?! Who did that?!
Cherie: I don’t know.
Darcy/Sonar Woman: Wasn’t me!
Korvo Solar-Opposites/Quasarblast: We need to stop her now!
Suddenly a woman’s chuckle was heard, which sounded familiar to Cherie, Nova, Montez and Sherbet.
Nova/Heartstar: Oh my God… that voice…
Cherie: It can’t be… can it?
Sherbet/Fizziepop: Oh God. No! No!
Cheery Smithers/Bloody Sympathy: Guys, what’s wrong?
???: Oh you poor things. Trap in a mind of a rogue witch… all that woman wanted to is get her fucking stupid son back on her side and rule the world and take you for advantage… but she was just a fool… I however… can make an offer to you five…
Suddenly…a blazing lightning midnight purple spiritual mist appears as it reveals an old foe of the Wallians… Sister Sisto as the Heartstar, Cherie, Montez and Fizziepop gasp in horror while the others grow shock.
Cherie: Sister Sisto?!
Terry Solar-Opposites/Mighton: You know her?!
Sister Sisto/???: Hello, my former fellow Bowinians…
Jesse Solar-Opposites/Fung-irl: Bowinians?! What?!
Korvo Solar-Opposites/Quasarblast: Heartstar, what is happening?!
Nova/Heartstar: Guys, that’s the false prophet we were telling you about last time when we first met! That’s Sister Sisto!
Mighton gasps.
Yumyulack Solar-Opposites/Vil-Gil-An-T: WHAT?!
Quasarblast looks angrily at Yumyulack.
Korvo Solar-Opposites/Quasarblast: sighs in dismay; deadpan Way to go Vil-Gil-An-T… you accidentally created a villain!
Yumyulack Solar-Opposites/Vil-Gil-An-T: I didn’t know!
Montez: I’m sorry true! She’s a false prophet and a murder and a kidnapper! She’s the one who causes all of this! The death of Tim, death of Sister Sasha, the temperature, everything!
Vil-Gil-An-T starts crying.
Cherie: She also kidnapped Pezlie and made her an icon! She also used Jesse as a pawn of her own.
Korvo-Solar-Opposites/Qausarblast: comforts his son Hey, it’s okay… you didn’t know… shh…
Yumyulack Solar-Opposites/Vil-Gil-An-T: I’m so sorry, Cherie.
Cherie: comforts Vil-Gil-An-T It’s okay. You didn’t know. Sisto was also using Jesse as a legend just to get people to follow her in a path of death!
Sister Sisto/???: Oh, this is very touching but I think it’s time I sealed your fate!
Marissa growls but gets grabbed in the rope by Sister Sisto.
Marissa: Let me go! grunts
Ms. Frankie/Night Saw: You’re not gonna stop us!
Sister Sisto/???: Oh I sure will. For I am… reveals her new physical form and a villain suit of her own Black Mirror!
Heartstar gasps
Sonya/Nighthowler: Oh no! She’s crazy!
Sister Sisto/Black Mirror: Oooh! But first…
Black Mirror attacks Mighton.
Korvo Solar-Opposites/Quasarblast: MIGHTON! growls at Black Mirror
Mighton groans in pain while Qausarblast helps his hubby up and looks at Black Mirror furiously then uses her mind control on the 5 Kalju Teen Witches as they roar in pain. Marisa tries to get out a beastly looking potion, only the wind to blew it out of her hands onto Quasarblast’s leg as he screams in pain.
Nova/Heartstar: Qausarblast!
Jesse Solar-Opposites/Fung-irl: QUASARBLAST!
Yumyulack Solar-Opposites/Vil-Gil-An-T: Oh my God!
Sonya/Nighthowler: Daddy!
Sister Sisto/Black Mirror: I bet that hurts…
Suddenly, Quasarblast starts screaming in pain as he suddenly starts growing bigger and muscular and his skin starts to turn black as he starts growing to the size of a KaIju beast.
Randall/Blackhole: Oh shit!
Principal Cooke/Trailblazer: That’s a huge bitch!
Terry Solar-Opposites/Mighton: Quasarblast?!
Now a giant KaIju Mundane, Quasarblast roars while the rest of the Mighty Solars gasp in horror and Black Mirror laughs evilly.
Jesse Solar-Opposites/Fung-irl: What’s happening?!
Sonya/Nighthowler: Quasarblast! No!
Yumyulack Solar-Opposites/Vil-Gil-An-T: What have you done?! You turn our dad into a fucking monster!
Mighton starts crying.
Sister Sisto/Black Mirror: Aw what’s the matter Mighton? Love the makeover I intentionally did to your husband?
Mighton starts snarling in anger with tears in his eyes. He then punches Black Mirror in the face as she growls.
Sister Sisto/Black Mirror: You strong arm bitch! What the fuck?!
Terry Solar-Opposites/Mighton: YOU WILL PAY FOR WHAT YOU DID!
Black Mirror grins and escapes by turning into her spirit form and leads the 5 KaIju monsters away from the heroes. Mundane Quasarblast growls as his eyes glow aquamarine and angirly follows the monsters for battle.
Terry Solar-Opposites/Mighton: No…Korvo!
Nova/Heartstar: We have to go after them!
Louise/???: We’ll take care of the girls! You take care of Quasarblast!
The heroes split up while Mighton looks tearfully at Mundane Quasarblast roaring.
Terry Solar-Opposites/Mighton: KORVO!
Mega Mundane Quasarblast snarls as Mighton jumps up and lands on him desperately.
Terry Solar-Opposites/Mighton: SNAP OUT OF IT! PLEASE! I DON’T LIKE SEEING YOU LIKE THIS! crying PLEASE STOP!
Mega Mundane Qausarblast growls, which causes Mighton to cry even more as he hugs Quasarblast’s face.
Terry Solar-Opposites/Mighton: sobbing hysterically THIS ISN’T YOU! I KNOW YOU’RE IN THERE, KORVY!
Mega Mundane Quasarblast then stops growling as his face softens and he sees his husband crying.
Mega Mundane Korvo Solar-Opposites/Quasarblasr: T-Terry? Is that you?!
Terry Solar-Opposites/Mighton: Korvo?
Mega Mundane Korvo Solar-Opposites/Quasarblast: Terry? What’s happening to me?! I’m so scared! crying Help me!
Mighton kisses his husband’s face.
Terry Solar-Opposites/Mighton: Shh… it’s gonna be okay baby… we just have to get you out of here before the teen witches see you! I hope the others are doing okay!
Mega Mudane Quasarblast smiles.

Okay, so, about a month ago, my brain just conjured up probably the most random au possible: Legally Blonde Adam Banks/banksway au.
Believe me, it's as chaotic as it sounds, but lowkey, I'm kind of in love with it.
Adam never joins the Ducks because there aren't any Ducks to join. Bombay never had to do community service with District Five so there was no one to realise that Adam was on the wrong team all along. He continues to play for the Hawks and, eventually, the Eden Hall Warriors, never getting the chance to become the well-rounded individual we know him as because he's never known anything other than his rich privilege and the "win at all costs" mentality. He ends up going to college on a hockey scholarship and not straight to the NHL or the AHL (shocking, I know). While he's unsure of his major and where his life is heading, he finds solace in the fraternity he joins, which, by some sheer twist of fate, Jesse and Guy have also miraculously joined.
And his life is perfect for a while. He's the star player on yet another school's hockey team, all of his fraternity brothers adore him (though, it took a bit for Jesse to warm up to him), and his secret, not-really-official thing with his former teammate is going swimmingly. (Not to slander my boy, but I was picturing Larson for the role of Warner, purely because the alternative seems to be Rick Riley and that's kind of an unsettling image-- though, maybe that's the point?)
But then his secret boyfriend breaks up with him because, with his high aspirations in life, he needs to be "more serious." And dating Adam Banks, a guy in a stereotypical fraternity who only really knows hockey, in 2001 isn't exactly the white-picket-fence life he's looking for if he's going to be a politician.
And since this non-Duck Adam clearly doesn't have the braincells that canon Adam does, in his devastation, he decides it's a brilliant idea to prove that he is serious by applying to Harvard Law. His parents try to talk him out of it, since they want him to pursue his dreams of hockey, but being a lawyer is a respectable career so they can't exactly argue with him.
He gets accepted thanks to Jesse, Guy, and the rest of his fraternity helping him study for the LSAT and keeping him on track. He's trying his darndest when he gets to Harvard, but (despite his struggle not being as significant as Elle Woods'), not a lot of people take him seriously as an aspiring lawyer, considering him a meathead jock who only got in because of daddy's money.
And that's about the time he meets Linda, who he vaguely remembers from his time at Eden Hall. What he doesn't remember is her being so competitive, because she's deliberately beating him at every turn, just trying (and kind of succeeding) at making him look like a fool. To make matters worse, all of the sudden, she's engaged to his ex-boyfriend, who is very adamant about never telling anyone that he and Adam were more than friends (because, you know, early 2000s homophobia and such).
But things get a little brighter for Adam when he meets Charlie, an undergrad teacher's assistant who gives him all sorts of advice about surviving the school. He introduces him to Professor Bombay, who Charlie claims is the only reason he survived his first year and quickly becomes Adam's favourite teacher, and Charlie's childhood friend Connie, who aspires to be a state senator one day. Charlie's charismatic and even if he's not the most well-liked person at Harvard, Adam feels a weight lifted off his shoulders once he becomes friends with him and Connie. Things become a little easier.
Just before he and Charlie start getting really close, Adam meets Casey at a local diner on a day he's feeling particularly upset and alone, and the two start bonding almost immediately. (He bullshits his way into scaring an ex-husband of hers with legal repercussions he has no idea about and she basically adopts him in return.) It takes him an embarrassing amount of time to realise that it's not just a coincidence that Casey and Charlie share the same last name, which results in poor Adam feeling extremely embarrassed for not connecting the dots sooner while Charlie's having the time of his life teasing him for it. Eventually, when the dust of that settles, Charlie and Adam join forces to set Casey and Bombay up, their schemes borderline ridiculous at times, but they'rere not exactly failing.
And after realising he isn't the Warriors moron she thought he was for going on five years, Linda starts warming up to Adam, which is surprisingly nice? She figures out on her own that there used to be something between him and her fiancé, and is more understanding of Adam than she is mad. Linda actually spills to him the lengths Adam's ex had to go through to actually get into Harvard, aligning more with the rumours about Adam's acceptance being bought than having the aptitude for the law that Linda and Adam share. (This may be me saying Linda and Adam friendship rights, what of it-- /lh)
To make things all the better, Bombay chooses Adam, Linda, Connie, Charlie, and Adam's ex to be on his legal team for a murder case he's responsible for (and while he knows about Adam and Charlie's ploys to hook him up with Charlie's mom, they're his favourites, so he doesn't say anything).
And this is just so much better than anything he had before. After all the initial unpleasantness, Linda and Connie become some of the most genuine friends he's ever had. He misses Guy and Jesse, of course, and he'd never take them for granted, but back when he was with them at the fraternity, a part of him was still being as superficial as he had been in middle and high school. Being authentic for once in his life is liberating.
And Charlie's just about the most considerate person Adam's ever met. Adam doesn't even mind when Charlie teases him over his absurd and juvenile insults because he's just this source of light for Adam, supporting him and always pushing him to be the best version of himself. His ex hardly even exists when Charlie's around because his energy is just so contagious that Adam starts falling for him long before he even realises it. (And when Jesse and Guy come to visit, there's a moment where it all clicks and the four of them realise their history together, however brief. I strongly maintain that they'd be that Starkid meme: "Fucking Hawks? We hated you guys!" "We hated ourselves!" But it does make Adam realise how much better off he would've been if he had Charlie and his team when he was little instead of the Hawks, and it just further makes him understand that people like Larson and Rick Riley just aren't worth it.)
But there's also another revelation Adam goes through. Between helping Casey, his rigorous studies, and his position working with/for Bombay, something just clicks for Adam. He likes being able to help people, fighting for the good guys who may not have the resources they need to be properly defended. Practicing law calls to him in the same way hockey did; it's the feeling of knowing this is what he's meant to do. He still loves hockey, he always will, but it helps him finally grasp that there's a world for him outside of it; when hockey ends for him, there's something equally as rewarding that he can pursue, which was something he never thought he would have.
I haven't a single coherent thought about this au past that point except for these little inklings of an ending--
There's absolutely no SA scene like the movie had; Bombay's just Adam and Charlie's favourite teacher and those are his boys, so he's going to make sure they succeed as if his life depends on it.
With that said, Bombay believes in them both enough to let them finish the case because with their joined determination/stubbornness (and Adam's in with the defendant), Adam and Charlie are a force to be reckoned with and he knows it.
After a handful of comedic failures, they do end up succeeding at their attempts to set Casey and Bombay up, and they start living together sometime during the kids' Junior year :) (All I'm asking is for one (1) story with a Casey/Gordon endgame-- I just think they're neat--)
Linda dumps her fiancé (as she should) and goes on to live her best wlw life as a successful lawyer. (If I'm not mistaken, Linda's actress actually is a lawyer, which is a pretty cool fun fact!!)
Adam and Linda's ex gets the Warner ending because, man, screw that guy /lh (rip to Larson if this is him, I'm sure you'll get a nice endgame in some other universe, king)
Honorary mention for Connie, who was going long distance with Guy this entire time to everyone but Jesse's shock, and they get their Game Changers endgame of State Senator Connie Moreau and stay-at-home dad Guy Germaine with their seven -- sorry, three -- children :)
Adam's an absolute bundle of nerves after graduation, which definitely concerns Charlie. So, when he asks if he's okay, Adam starts nervously monologuing about their time together until he runs out of breath. He ends it by proposing to him, and Charlie smiles so surely at him when he says yes. They both become damn good public defenders and stay engaged until the point they can legally get married, but they're practically husbands long before that happens.
Also, if I did my math right (which I should’ve, it’s my entire basis for my Share Your Address series), the Ducks’ would have the same graduating class year as Elle Woods anyway (2004), which is pretty neat!
Thank you once again for listening to me ramble :)

I've been rewatching all the Loki content to get ready for the new show and I have thought of A Phineas and Ferb AU™ for your viewing pleasure (and if anyone wants to turn any part of this into an actual fanfic I would owe you my life)
this post was brought to you in partnership with @dumbausfromdanville
You know how the first Thor movie ends with Loki yeeting himself off the Bifrost and falling to earth? What if, instead of going after the Tesseract, he falls straight to the Tri-State area?
Jane, Darcy, and Selvig all seemed to be on vacation, right? So Thor presumably took place during the summer — say, perhaps, ending on June 3? So he falls right onto Phineas and Ferb's rollercoaster just before it goes down that ♫ three-mile drop straight down ♪. He has no idea wtf is happening so it's not like he gets the chance to sit down and put on a seatbelt, so he's stuck holding on for dear life for the entire rollercoaster ride which Phineas and Ferb find weird but they're not really concerned bc they're chill lil dudes and tbh this isn't too far off a normal day for them.
Phineas and Loki strike up a none-too-pleasant conversation (not that Phineas notices Loki's bad mood; he's too Him to realize not everyone is rainbows and sunshine all day, every day), and our favorite lil disoriented demigod has to figure out where the fuck he is now ("You there. What realm is this?" "Danville 🙂" "Wut da fuk?") and what the fuck he's supposed to do now that he's here.
Phineas ends up inviting him to hang out for the afternoon, and Loki is about to turn him down but then he smells the pie. He's never had doonkleberry pie before so obviously he has to try it. Then, when Loki's no longer hangry, they can hold an actual conversation. It's lowkey more Loki wallowing in his own self-pity than anything else, but Ferb recognizes Asgard when Loki mentions it so he and Phineas piece together that he's a god pretty quickly.
More importantly, though, they figure out that he's completely alone, and because Loki never mentions trying to, you know, murder his brother and lowkey overthrow the monarchy, they just kinda assume Loki's family sucks (Ferb is completely prepared to start the anti-Thor club but Phineas stops him because he doesn't want his brother to get struck by lightning) and adopt him (without his consent, but it's not like he has anywhere else to be -- and he did like that pie).
Loki has no desire to build anything with the boys He thinks the idea of a backyard beach they make the next morning is stupid — even more stupid than a regular beach, and that's saying something. But over time, he gets more involved -- not just with the boys, but with the entire family. He helps the boys build their inventions. He talks about human history with Lawrence and corrects much of his knowledge on mythology. He lets Linda teach him how to bake seriously, her pies are so good. He even suffers through Candace's mall trips as long as he gets to go to that fro-yo place on the second floor (though he draws the line at any conversation involving romance).
He's still a little skeptical of the platypus (and he feels like the platypus is a little skeptical of him, too) but Phineas insists that he's "just a platypus" and he "doesn't do much." Loki doesn't realize that Perry's keeping an eye on him for OWCA, nor does he know that Monogram has absolutely no idea what to make of the dude so he hasn't actually told any of his superiors about him. As far as the government is concerned, after the fiasco in New Mexico, Loki just disappeared.
This makes it fucking hilarious when the boys accidentally steal the superheroes' powers in Mission: Marvel and the superheroes show up at the Flynn-Fletchers' front door only to see fucking Loki. Loki just shuts the door in their faces without a word because what the fuck?, but eventually Phineas and Ferb go check the door and they agree to help the heroes (much to Loki's chagrin), which, of course, isn't complete with Candace fangirling over them (also much to Loki's chagrin; she never fangirled over him). At first the Avengers are fully convinced that Loki is responsible for stealing their powers, and Loki never actually denies it because he's a little shit but Phineas, Ferb, and their friends are very insistent that Loki didn't do anything (except a little bit of manual labor putting together the satellites because they're 10 and he's a whole-ass demigod).
At some point, Thor and Loki have a very heated discussion about the events of Thor, and it's pretty much all news to the Flynn-Fletchers and their friends. They're not really sure what to make of it so they basically glue their mouths shut and watch it all play out. I'd like to think it goes something like it does in The Avengers and that a) Thor is pissed because what the fuck have you been up to Loki you fucking dumbass, b) Thor has been in mourning since Loki yeeted himself into the abyss and he wants to make sure the guy knows it, and c) Loki does not take it seriously at all he's being antagonistic the entire time because he is so sick of Mr. High-And-Mighty's shit. In the end, Loki storms out of the SHEDquarters and Phineas doesn't even think to try to stop him until he's halfway out the door and it's too late.
He shows up again when Phineas, Ferb, and the Avengers try to fight the bad guys in the mall with the wrong powers and he basically singlehandedly saves their asses until superhero Perry shows up. As everyone's favorite shapeshifter, he has absolutely no problem figuring out that this beaver duck dude is the Flynn-Fletchers' platypus. He has no idea what to do with that information, but it sure is information that he now has apparently. (At this point, poor Loki has a very warped sense of what earth is supposed to be like lmao).
Phineas tries to get Loki to come back with them after superhero Perry grabs them and carries them home. Instead, Loki cuts himself loose and falls like 30 feet straight down (and tbh after falling from the Bifrost, that's nothing to him) and peaces the fuck out.
Loki ends up accidentally bonding with Candace and Isabella over feeling useless and unwanted (and he absolutely gets his own verse in Only Trying to Help because it's what he deserves), but unlike the two girls who are hell-bent on changing that, Loki is content wallowing in his own self-pity. He's tried this whole "being important" thing before and he ended up in self-exile for it. He's not putting himself through it again because he really doesn't expect it to end well. But then the powerless heroes decide to face the villains again, and with Candace and Isabella in space and Perry nowhere to be seen, he realizes it is once again up to him to keep the tri-state area safe (which he knows is a stupid priority but he's gotten kind of attached to these stupid little humans and he wants to keep them safe).
Then the heroes get their powers back and they join Loki (and Perry and the mysterious waffle gun in the sky) and beat the shit out of the villains. Thor and Loki work together in the heat of the battle which serves as a Great Bonding Moment™, and once the villains are gone, they have a nice lil heart-to-heart where they both apologize for their past. Thor remarks that Loki seems to have grown a lot over the last couple of months and tries to bring Loki home with him, but Loki refuses. He'll never be welcome back into Asgard, no matter what Thor may say.
But he is welcome with the Flynn-Fletchers, who are completely over the fact that he tried to ruin Thor's life and take his not-so-rightful place on the throne (except Candace who's very skeptical about having him back but it's not like Linda will believe her if she tries to tell her what Thor and Loki talked about so her opinion is unfortunately as irrelevant as it usually is on the show).
And early the next morning, before anyone else is awake, Perry gets an alert that he's needed in his headquarters (presumably to talk to or about Fury). He quietly sneaks off, only to find Loki waiting at the bottom of the stairs for him. They have a very nice "conversation" (not that Perry speaks) about the superhero Ducky Momo they saw the day before, and Loki assures him that his secret is safe, thus starting a much-needed bromance between Loki and Perry because it's what my babies, goddammit!
Anyways yeah if anyone wants to write a fanfic about Loki hanging out with Phineas and Ferb during his self-exile I would give you a socially distant high-five because I want to read it but I have too many other fanfics on my plate to start this one for at least a few months. It doesn't have to follow this prompt literally at all (I swear I wasn't trying to get this in-depth with it but this is what I do apparently) or it can follow this prompt exactly idc i just want a PnF/Loki fanfic 🥺

D3: The Mighty Ducks (1996) is the best Ducks movie and a flawless coming of age movie
It’s no secret that The Mighty Ducks are a beloved trilogy. The three films spawned a professional NHL team named in their honor, 2021 sequel series, as well as many knockoff films released in the 1990s. But with any movie series, fans tend to rank the films and have passionate opinions on which is the best. For most Ducks fans, the answer is simple: D2. It has the Bash Brothers, Team USA dominating, the iconic “Ducks Fly Together” scene and two Queen songs. What’s not to love? But upon a rewatch of the trilogy, I came to realize that it’s not D2, or even the original, that is the best in the series.
It’s the criminally underrated 1996 D3 that for me, is the most mature and has the most heart. Perhaps it’s that the Ducks are now old enough to carry their own weight on screen. Perhaps it’s that the film takes a look at trauma, specifically trauma in teenagers, and how that manifests itself. Perhaps it’s that the film is maybe ahead of its time, in the way it discusses classism, racism and sexism. There is so much about this overly hated film that makes it the best Ducks movie and a perfect coming of age film.
The movie starts presumably a few years following the Ducks’ win against Iceland. They all look noticeably older - definitely older than the middle schoolers we left behind in 1994 - and all of the male Ducks’ voices have dropped a few octaves. Gordon Bombay, played by Emilio Estevez, is presenting the team (except for unfortunately, Jesse Hall, a leader among the Ducks who would’ve made for a strong presence in this mature film, as well as Portman, but we’ll get to him later) with scholarships to his alma mater, Eden Hall, a preparatory high school in Minnesota. Charlie Conway, played by a young, pre-Dawson’s Creek Joshua Jackson, is the Ducks’ captain and unspoken leader. There’s been much debate over the years over whether or not Charlie is the true captain of the Ducks. Adam Banks, played by Vincent Larusso, is far and away better than practically every Duck combined. Fulton Reed, played by Elden Henson, has shown more maturity and leadership at this point. It’s probably true that the Ducks as a team think that Charlie is Captain because of Bombay’s favoritism towards him (and his mother), but I think that this film makes it abundantly clear why Charlie is the captain.
D3 is Charlie’s story. We see that in the opening scene, when Bombay tells Charlie he will not be following the team to Eden Hall, accepting a job instead in California. We learned in the original Mighty Ducks film, that Charlie and his mother left a bad situation in Charlie’s father when Charlie was very young. We also hear about Charlie’s mother, Casey’s marriage to a new man in the D2, who we can assume from what Jan says, that Charlie doesn’t like. We see in that first film, Charlie’s reaction to Bombay announcing that he is leaving the Ducks after the two of them have formed a bond. It is very clear that Charlie deals with abandonment issues, stemming from trauma in his early childhood. Charlie freaks out when a D3 Bombay announces the same thing, and storms off.
Change is the biggest theme in D3. We see how change affects each of the Ducks, even those who don’t get many lines. Some, like Russ Tyler, played by SNL’s Kenan Thompson, think it’s a good thing. All of the Ducks don’t come from good neighborhoods and we assume that most of them don’t have the best home lives, especially when Charlie tells their new coach, Orion, played by Jeffrey Nordling, that the Ducks are the only good thing that any of them have had. Going to a preparatory school should be a good thing for them. But for most of them, it’s not. The new Ducks (who by the way, three of which are people of color, and one of which, is a woman) are immediately told that “their kind” is not welcome at Eden Hall. The Varsity team claim that they feel this way because the captain’s younger brother was not admitted onto the JV team because of the Ducks’ scholarships, but it’s very clear what they really mean. Russ commented that he’s the only black person on the whole campus earlier, and he, Luis Mendoza (The Sandlot’s Mike Vitar) and Ken Wu (Justin Wong) are the only people of color we see in the film. Change takes a toll on each member of the team. We see it the most in Charlie, but we also hear from Fulton on how the separation from his best friend, Dean Portman (Aaron Lohr), who decided not to enroll at Eden Hall, is taking a toll on him. Connie (Margerite Moreau) and Guy (Garrette Henson) have presumably broken up, as the two small scenes we get of them, they are arguing. It’s a transition period, one that the first year of high school often is. But it’s also a look on how a rich, white privileged world is vastly different than the one that the Ducks are used to.
Coach Orion seems like a hardass, especially when he tells Charlie at their first practice that he will no longer be “Captain Duck” (as coined by D2’s Gunnar Stahl, played by Scott Whyte, who now plays the level-headed Varsity goalie Scooter). This, to the Ducks, is a line in the sand. Ever since Bombay turned District 5 into the Ducks four years previous, Charlie has been their captain. They’re in a whole new environment, where the man who gave them so much happiness and so many friendships isn’t, and their “little Duck tricks” won’t work anymore. Orion thinks Charlie is a showoff, and perhaps he is. This Charlie is vastly different than the sweet, shy Charlie we see in D1 and D2. But this Charlie is older, has just been abandoned by a man he considered a father, and is being harassed on a daily basis for being, as Varsity Captain Reilly puts it, “white trash.” I find it hard to believe sometimes that fans can look at Charlie from the outside, and not see who he is on the inside. All of Charlie’s closest relationships that we see portrayed in this movie, are with women. His mother (who he, as a teenage boy, says “I love you” to in the final scene of the movie), his teammates, Connie and Julie, who he gets a lot more screentime with, and with new love interest, Linda (Margot Finley).
I think now is a great time to talk about the shockingly impressive way all of the female characters are portrayed in this series, particularly this movie, especially for a 90s sports film. Connie has always been a leader on and off the ice. She’s in a relationship with Guy, but it’s not her only character trait. Dubbed “the Velvet Hammer” by Averman (Matt Doherty), she stands up for herself, and for her shy teammates (she literally shoves Peter Mark - a character cut out of D2 and D3 for good reason - in D1 when he insults Charlie) and stands up to the entire Varsity team despite them telling her that they hope they can “fight” with her later. Julie “The Cat” Gaffney (Columbe Jacobsen) is the second best player on the Ducks, despite the little ice time (thanks, Bombay) we see her have. She is the first person to tell of the Varsity, telling Captain Reilly that his little brother “just wasn’t good enough.” She’s a huge facilitator in the fire ant prank and despite the very weird and out of character game she had against the Blake Bears, shows that she deserves the number one goalie slot that Reilly gives her - despite what Goldberg, and the obvious underlying sexism there, have to say. I’ve also always been very impressed with Charlie’s mother, Casey (Heidi Kling). Although she has a romance with Bombay in D1, she makes it clear from the get go that her first priority is Charlie. We know that she took the two of them away from an abusive situation, and she’s a goddamn hero for that. Her scenes in D3 are limited, but they always show her chastising Charlie’s antics and encouraging him to stay in school. It goes unsaid, but it’s clear that she knows that he’s not going to get an education this good in the problematic public school system. But according to Linda, Charlie’s love interest, the private school system is no better. The first time we see Linda, she is protesting the “outdated” Warriors team name. This was in a 1996 kids movie, no less. She holds her own against Charlie, calling him out when he’s wrong. No one aside from Charlie, and maybe Fulton, get much screentime or lines aside from Bombay and Orion, but her presence and the point of her character is clear - not every rich person agrees with the horrible things that wealthy people do.
Back to the plot.
When the Ducks receive their positions, they learn that Banks, as a freshman, has made Varsity. From an outside perspective, they seems obvious. Banks is the best player we see in any of the films, definitely miles better than the losers on Varsity, so it seems obvious that he would be promoted. But Banks is unhappy with this. Adam Banks is a fan favorite character, definitely due to the sweet, understated performance by Larusso, but we don’t see much of him. From what we do see of him though, he underwent a huge character arc from D1 to now. In D1, Banks goes against his father’s protests and joins the Ducks, claiming that he “just wants to play hockey.” Here in D3, we see that Banks is utterly miserable despite playing with some of the best players in the state, purely because he’s not with his friends. At the end of the film, he makes the (questionable) decision to rejoin the Ducks and go against the Varsity. But Varsity seems to feel that Banks fits in with them, for obvious reasons. He’s the only Duck who comes from an affluent background, and he’s definitely the most clean cut. Captain Reilly is visibly angry in the final showdown with the Ducks that they no longer have Banks on their side, as if he’s betrayed “his kind.”
The turning point of the film comes when after Charlie has quit the freshman team (no longer the Ducks), Hans, a father figure to the Ducks and Bombay, suddenly passes away. It’s an insanely dark moment for a Disney film, especially when Bombay returns to the funeral and reminds the Ducks that it was “Hans who taught them to fly” and Charlie storms off, crying. I think Joshua Jackson, in the Ducks films, as well as in Dawson’s Creek, is phenomenally good at portraying teenagers who wouldn’t normally be seen as leading men. Who let their emotions overtake them, who have anger issues, who deal with familial problems. Characters like that in leading roles were almost unheard of in the 90s, and in the upcoming scenes, it reminds us why this side of Charlie that we’ve seen throughout the movie is not the only side of Charlie.
Bombay takes Charlie to the rink to see Orion skating with his disabled daughter, who was injured in a car accident. He reveals to Charlie that Orion quit the NHL to take care of her, and this immediately changes Charlie’s opinion of him, but he’s still unconvinced about rejoining the team. The next scene is without question, the greatest and most important scene of the trilogy. The last two films spent way too much time telling us how great of a person Bombay was, how he was the Minnesota Miracle Man,despite us seeing so little of that onscreen. We see him making mistake after mistake, hurting the team, being an unjustified dick to those around him. But this scene more than makes up for all of that. I’ve put the quote from this scene below.
Bombay: I was like you, Charlie. When I played hockey, I was a total hot shot. I tried to take control of every game. I wound up quitting. So I tried the law. I ruled the courtroom, but inside, I’m a mess. Start drinking. Man, I was going down. But then this great thing happened, maybe the best thing ever - I got arrested and sentenced to community service. And there you were - Charlie and the Ducks. And as hard as I fought it, there you were. You gave me a life, Charlie, and I want to say thank you. I told Orion about all of this when I talked to him about taking over. I told him that you were the heart of the team and that you would learn something from each other. I told him that you were the real Minnesota Miracle Man.
Charlie: You did?
Bombay: I did. So be that man, Charlie. Be that man.
It’s a callback to D2, when Jan tells Bombay “Be that man, Gordon. Be that man.” This scene is flawless. Every good thing that has happened to the Ducks, came because of Charlie’s heart. It came because of that game when Charlie refused to cheat, and made Bombay see his wrongs. It came because of when Bombay first tried to quit the team, and seeing how hurt Charlie was, agreed to stay. It was Charlie who stepped out of the game against Iceland so that Banks could play. It was Charlie who found them Russ. Giving the credit to a young, emotionally unstable teenager, rather than their Emilio Estevez, hotshot Bombay, is the best thing this series ever did.
This movie, in my opinion, is nearly flawless. Every moment has been planned to make the same point - change sucks. Especially when you’re a teenager. Even more so when you’re a teenager with trauma.

"with confidence that far outstrips her years. Her vintage clothing and committed attitude marks her as anything but a spoiled preppy" sooo Charlie's first crush that we know of was a girl version of Jesse??

Chapter 4: It’s a Mad World
“Are you feeling defensive today because of the way the group session went yesterday?”
Emma looked up defiantly at her therapist. “Do you always let them say whatever they want?”
“It’s important that everyone in group gets to speak their mind, that includes you.”
“August was doing more than speak his mind. He called me a goddamn spoiled rich kid with daddy issues.”
“Are you?”
“What the fuck?” Emma said angrily.
“Emma, your father is rich, you’ve been afforded things that most others have not.”
“So what? That gives him the right to talk about me that way?”
“I didn’t say that I just asked what your thoughts are on his statement.”
“I think he’s full of shit.”
“How is your relationship with your father?”
“Wow. Ok. Well, he traveled a lot.” She rolled her yes. She wasn’t exaggerating, she saw her father maybe once or twice a month when he wasn’t on some business trip that took him out of the country.
“Did you resent him for that?” The man was staring into her soul.
“Hard to resent someone you barely know.” She stared at her fingers, clicking her nails against each other.
“What about your mother?”
“She’s dad’s soldier. Does all his work for him back home while he’s out there making his mark on the world.”
“She’s a manager at the New York Hotel?”
“Yes, she runs all his North American hotels. She’s smart, runs a tight ship. Honestly, mom could have done anything she ever wanted.”
“Did she always want to work in management?”
“God no, she wanted to be a teacher. Mom loves kids.”
“Yet you’re an only child?”
“Yeah well, guess they got too busy to think about a brother or sister, or maybe I was just too much of a handful, you’d have to ask them.”
Emma knew her mother wanted desperately to have another child; she’d heard her parents argue about it a few times when she was younger. When she turned 15, her mother went through a period of depression. Emma had escaped the house on more than one occasion with Neal to avoid their fighting.
“David, we waited too long.”
“You don’t know that darling, the doctors said this could have happen for any number of reasons.”
“If you’d been home more, actually been here.”
“You’re blaming me for this?”
“Do we have to talk about my parents?” Emma stirred nervously in her chair.
“What would you like to talk about?”
“I don’t know, I’ve never done this before.”
“Let’s talk about Neal.”
“Why?”
“He’s your boyfriend?”
She bit her lip and shifted in her chair. “Ok yeah, sure. I met Neal when I was 12. We went to school together.”
“And your parents like him?”
“My parents love Neal. Sometimes I think they like him more than me.”
“I’m so disappointed in you Emma. How could you do this again?”
“Why do you care?”
“Don’t talk to your mother like that and answer the question.”
“I was just having fun with friends. It’s not that big a deal.”
“You’re drunk! You’re only 16. How is this not a big deal, Emma?”
“Seriously mom, stop acting so high and mighty.”
“You need to find better friends. I can’t believe you ditched Neal to go drinking. Really Emma, after the way he stood by you the last time you got in trouble!”
“Are you fucking serious right now?”
“Emma Nolan, you are grounded for a month.”
“Why do you think that?”
“Neal does no wrong. He’s perfect. Heir to the Gold throne. Hell, I think my dad believes he walks on water.”
“Are you jealous of their affection toward him?”
“Jealous? No, I just find it hypocritical. They immediately believe that I’m the bad influence, no one stopped for one second to ask about Neal and what he was up to. Not once.”
“Should they have? Was there a reason for them not to trust Neal?”
“And once again, I’m bored with this subject.” She crossed her legs underneath her on the chair and buried her face in her hands.
“Come on Emma, just try it one time. If you don’t like it, you never have to do it again.”
“I don’t know, Neal. Is it dangerous?”
“Of course not, why do you think so many people are doing it? It will make you feel good, don’t you want to feel good?”
“Ok Emma let’s talk about what happened after you got arrested. How long were you in jail?”
“I spent 11 glorious months behind bars at Lakeview Shock Correctional. Not like it was hard time or anything, daddy paid a pretty penny to hide me in a minimum-security housing facility.”
“So, it wasn’t a juvenile center?”
“Nope, that really pissed him off, I got busted a week after my 18th birthday.”
“Did you have a difficult time while you were there?”
“Emma you can do it. One more push.”
“Oh God.”
“That’s it, the head is out.”
“It’s a boy. Do you want to hold him?”
“No.”
“Nope, pretty ordinary. Bad food, lots of alone time. Nothing to write home about.” She stared out the window, willing her subconscious to float above her, to drown out the memories and keep the tears at bay.
Her father had paid a lot of money to keep her out of prison, but mostly to keep the story hidden. The minute the baby was ushered out of the room, she was returned to her cell and no one ever spoke of it again. Her father refused to talk about it when she returned home, and her mother continued to pretend like nothing had ever happened.
“Ok Emma, I think that’s enough for today.” He was looking at her with apprehension.
“Awesome.” She pushed out of the chair and sprang free from the room, all the air draining from her lungs. She started to tug at the hem of her t-shirt, feeling like she was trapped in her clothes. She looked around the courtyard, she felt like everything around her was blurring before her eyes.
No! She couldn’t have an anxiety attack out here in the open.
Before she realized what was happening, she was running. She didn’t turn around or stop until she reached the sands of the beach. Bending over and heaving out breathes as she tried to stop her heart from racing. She turned toward the pier and ducked under the boards, climbing the sandy hill hidden from the sun and falling into the sand, her sobs coming out in panicked spurts.
“We really need to stop meeting like this, love.”
No. No. No. No. Not now.
“Go away.” She shouted, sucking in her breath.
“Are you alright, Swan?”
She sat up, tossing sand in his direction. “I’m fucking fine, now go away.” She watched him standing at the bottom of the hill, she could tell he was debating his next move and unless it was leaving, she was going to beat his ass.
Of course, he wouldn’t just leave, she watched him climb the sandy hill toward her.
“You don’t appear to be fine, lass.”
“Why are you so damned irritating?” She screamed, the tears starting to fall down her cheeks again. She blew out a breath and sucked in the air again.
“Swan, you need to breathe. You’re going to hyperventilate.” She rocked back and forth, her arms hugging her chest. She felt warmth against her back, a hand brushing circles against the fabric of her shirt. “It’s better to let it out.” His breath was warm against her ear as he pulled her into the side of his body.
Her hand clinched in his shirt, balling her fist against his chest. “I told you to leave!” She sobbed into his body.
“It’s bad form to leave a damsel in distress.”
She pulled back from him, his face staring at her with a concern that only fueled her annoyance. She felt anger rising in her chest when their eyes met. “The only one who saves me, is me.” She spat.
“Don’t take offense, I’m only trying to help.”
“You are so goddamn frustrating.” He smirked, which only made things worse. She needed to run away from the heat of the man seated beside her, away from his eyes staring into her soul, his arrogant smile still stuck to his face. The fact that he actually seemed worried about her was making the hairs on her arm stand on end. She shoved away from him, “Let go of me.” She stood up and he grabbed her hand.
“Emma…”
She yanked her hand back as if she had been shocked. “Stop touching me, asshole.”
“You really are a pain in the ass.” He stood up, his face inches from hers.
“I’m a pain in the ass? You’re the one who keeps following me around.”
“I was here first, love.”
Emma balled her hands in his shirt before she could stop herself, yanking his lips down to meet hers in a fury of heat and wanton desire. He didn’t hesitate to respond in kind, his fingers tangling tightly in her blonde locks as his tongue pressed against her lips. She opened her mouth with a groan, clinging to him in desperation as their tongues intertwined. When she came up for air, his forehead pressed against hers.
A sudden realization of what she had done began to dawn on her. She frantically pulled away from him.
“That was…” He started to speak, and she panicked.
“A one-time thing. A distraction. That’s all.” She backed away from him, turning quickly to leave and not looking back.
“Emma.”
“Don’t follow me.” She spat.
“As you wish.” She heard him say softly behind her.
She grumbled to herself all the way back to her room, when she entered, Ruby was putting on yoga pants and a sports bra.
“Emma, you’re just in time.” She looked up at her. “Oh my, are you alright? You look pale.”
“Gee thanks, but yes I’m fine, rough day in therapy.” She tore her t-shirt off her body. “What am I just in time for?”
“Spin class!”
“Um, yeah pass.”
“No way, you’re coming with me. It’s the best way to de-stress after therapy. Trust me, Zelena is amazing.”
She considered her options, either sit in her room, and relive the last fifteen minutes over and over in her head, thus driving herself insane, or sweat the kiss out of her system.
“Ok fine, spin it is.”
What Ruby failed to mention was that when she said that Zelena was amazing, what she meant was an insane crazy person.
“Come on you animals, push it harder! Sweat your way to recovery.”
“Oh my God what is with this woman, I can’t push any harder.” Emma panted.
“I heard that.” Zelena yelled in her direction, “When you think you can’t go any faster, find it in yourself to pick up the pace.”
Emma groaned and wiped the sweat off her forehead with her hand.
“Don’t just walk in my room late and expect not to get on one of these bikes.”
Emma peered over her shoulder and grunted when she saw August and Killian enter the room.
Can she do anything without that asshole following her?
She expected him to jump on the bike behind her and make some sort of inappropriate comment about her ass but instead he took the bike next to Ruby.
“I love seeing a woman work up a sweat.” He smiled at Ruby who giggled loudly.
“No laughing in my class, if you’re having fun, you aren’t working hard enough.” Zelena yelled.
She peered in his direction and their eyes met for half a second before he turned his attention back to Ruby. She rolled her eyes and focused her energy on moving her feet.
“Let’s go kids, five more minutes.” The red head screamed.
“I can go for more than five minutes, lass.” She heard Killian murmur toward Ruby.
“Oh, I bet you can.” Ruby returned the flirtatious discussion.
“If only I knew someone who could make that happen around here.”
“Maybe you do.”
Emma was getting winded, letting out a guttural groan, she took her feet off the pedals, the wheels spinning on their own until they came to a stop. She jumped off the bike and grabbed a towel, wrapping it around her neck and swigging from her water bottle before walking out of the gym, ignoring the red headed instructor who was yelling at her to get back on her bike.
She turned the corner to the dorms and ran into something solid.
“Apologizes! I hope I didn’t hurt you, beautiful.”
She looked up and smiled at Jefferson. “Sorry, that was my fault, I should have been paying attention.”
“No harm, no foul, Miss Emma.” He stared down at her. “Are you quite all right? You seem sad.”
“It’s been a long day.”
“Trust me, I know, I’ve had six months of them here.”
She laughed. “How have you survived?”
“Wanna know my secret?”
“Oh yes.”
“Come this way.” He grabbed her by the hand and pulled her down a series of corridors until she no longer recognized where they were. He turned around and put his forefinger over his lips and she put her hand over her mouth. He pushed through the double doors, bending over, and creeping along the wall. He peeked up into one of the windows and then pulled her past it into a dark room.
When they were both standing in the dark, he let go of her hand and moved away from her to the other side of the room. She heard a clicking sound, a soft light illuminated his face before the light was extinguished.
He was by her side again, and she felt his lips against her ear. “Follow me.”
She turned and followed him back the way they came until they were standing outside the doors they entered, and he was dragging her through another set of doors into a part of the courtyard she had never seen before.
“What did we just do?” She exclaimed as he plopped down onto the grass lawn and patted beside him for her to sit. When she did, he passed her a small edible item. “Ding dongs? Did we just do all that to steal ding dongs?”
He popped one into his mouth, lying back on the grass. “There’s nothing better after a stressful day. And they don’t give them out to the patients, but I found out that one of the cooks absolutely loves them and hides them in the storage behind the kitchen.”
Emma fell back onto the grass next to him, leaning her head onto his crossed arm. She took a bite of the treat and moaned. “Oh my God, that is good.”
“I told you.” He smirked. “You forget the simple things when you are out there, dealing with the world.”
She sighed. “Why are you still here after six months?” She asked seriously.
“It’s hard enough to live in a land where you don’t belong but knowing it…holding conflicting realities in your head…will drive you mad.”
“And you think you belong in here?”
“Oh no, I hate Wonderland.” He exclaimed. “But unfortunately, I have an affliction. Do you know what it’s like to be at odds with yourself? It’s like having two lives yet they live inside one mind. Double the pain, double the suffering.”
Emma frowned. “Don’t you want to get better?”
“I supposed I do. And yet here I am.” He grinned at her.
“You’re very odd.”
“Thank you.” He laughed, sitting up on his elbow and leaning closer to her. “I could tell the first day in group that you were special. Don’t let August scare you off.”
“Oh, I’m uh, I can handle him.”
“I believe that.”
He leaned over, lightly brushing his lips against hers and then pulling back to look at her. “I apologize, I’ve been arguing with myself for the last ten minutes about doing that.”
She didn’t know what to think of the kiss, Jefferson was sweet and kind, with a strange air about him, and the kiss was so very different than what she had experience earlier kissing Killian. The kiss from Jefferson was almost comforting compared to the desperate need she experienced earlier under the pier.
Both of their watches began beeping and she sat up quickly.
“Oh my, have we been out here that long? I uh, guess we should get back to our rooms or we’ll miss lights out.”
“Time flies when you are having fun. I’ll show you the way back.” He stood up, reaching his hand out for her. He pulled her to her feet and tugged her forward, keeping his hand in hers. Once they reached the building, he dropped her hand, guiding her through the hallways until she started to recognize her surroundings. He stopped at the fork in the hall.
“This is where we part, beautiful.”
“Thank you for sharing your secret with me tonight.” She whispered.
“I only hope it helped. Goodnight.” He winked before turning away from her and skipping toward his room.
Emma grinned and walked the rest of the way to her room. Ruby was lying on her bed. “There you are.”
“Oh hey.”
“You just took off tonight. What happened?”
“Just overheated, needed to get some air.”
“Ah Zelena’s classes can be like that. She’s pretty serious about cardio.”
“Yeah, I guess.”
“You sure you’re ok? This wasn’t about Killian was it?”
“No, why would you think that?”
“I don’t know, you just seemed upset when we were flirting today. Are you interested in him? Because I can totally back off if you two have something going on?”
Emma bit her lip. She was most definitely not interested in that asshole. Not at all. Not even a little.
Liar.
“Nope, he’s all yours. I’m not into assholes.”
“Suit yourself, but honestly, can you imagine what he can do with that mouth of his?”
Emma flushed, remembering the feel of his mouth burning on her lips. “Never really thought about it honestly, he’s not my type.”
“Which part? The accent, the arms, his abs, or the bulge in his pants, cause I could keep going if I haven’t proven my point yet.”
“I didn’t say he wasn’t hot. He’s just…” She got into her bed and turned off the lights to mask the redness growing in her cheeks. “I can assure you his ego is probably bigger than his dick.”
“Well, one of us needs to find out, and if you’re not interested, then I volunteer as tribute.” She joked.
Emma rolled her eyes and turned over on her side, squeezing her eyes shut and praying for sleep. “You’re such a nerd, Ruby. But seriously good luck with that.” She grumbled before she fell asleep, blue pools of light haunting her dreams.

Hi hello, Rhys!! Hope you are having a great day!🖤
15) what’s the weirdest thing that’s happened to you?
I’m struggling with this one! I live a mundane life where no weird things ever happen to me😕
17) an earliest obsession you remember?
This is really going to date me but, The Mighty Ducks series. Like the original one with a baby, pre-Dawson’s Creek Josh Jackson. He and Vincent LaRusso were singlehandedly responsible for my sexual awakening😆 I watched those movies (on vhs) on repeat multiple times a week for a couple years. Also, the first time I watched Shameless, I was like, “No, that is not Linda, that is Connie Moreau.”
23) five words that describe you?
non-confrontational
introvert
kind
procrastinator
creative
Thank you for playing!!!

Hunting Mission
This is part of my Emperor AU
AO3
Masterpost
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
“Dun, dun dun, dun dun, dun, dun,”
“Luz, this is a stealth mission.”
Luz paused, blinking owlishly at Amity for a moment, holding her staff in both hands.
“I know?” She said. “Every good stealth mission needs the Mission Impossible theme song.” She said seriously.
“I have no idea what that is,” Amity deadpanned. “But unless you’ve suddenly mastered bard magic, be quiet.” She whispered sharply.
Luz muttered under her breath but obediently stopped her humming.
The two girls continued through the edge of the forest, climbing over roots and gliding through the trees. Neither had turned to go into the forest itself. They’d rather not face the house security they knew resided there.
So, they’d decided to wait out the witch who used it.
They just had to keep circling.
Luz tripped over a root as she climbed over it, letting out a yelp and landing in the dirt with a thud, dropping her staff.
Amity looked back, startled for a moment before relaxing into an exhausted look.
“Seriously?” Amity sighed.
“Hey, roots are tricky!” Luz complained, not bothering to try and get up.
“Look, how about we just split up?” Amity said, crouching by the girl and offering a hand. “We’ll cover more ground that way.”
“But Lilith said it was a bad idea,” Luz reminded, taking Amity’s outstretched hand and stumbling to her feet. “Don’t we need to stick together-” She cut off as she fumbled into Amity and steadied herself on the witches shoulders.
Amity stiffened before sharply pushing Luz off and almost making her fall over again.
“Yeah, well, I think that finding the Owl Lady is more important than looking after you.” Amity huffed, turning away and crossing her arms.
“The point is to find her and try and weaken her so we can bring her back, though.” Luz pointed out, unphased as she picked up her dropped staff. “Two is better than one for that.”
“No offence, human, but I don’t think you’d be very useful.” Amity scoffed, looking over the girl.
“Hey! I’m plenty useful,” Luz grumbled, holding her staff closer.
“Whatever,” Amity muttered, rolling her eyes. “How about you go down that--”
The snapping of branches and a sudden thud cut her off. Both girls whirled around in a panic towards the sound.
A small dog-like demon with a skull on its head rolled out of the leaves he landed in, grumbling about a staff being too hard to hang onto.
It spotted the girls and froze, looking up at them.
All three stared at each other for a few brief, terrifying moments.
“It’s the Owl Lady’s demon!” Amity exclaimed. “Get him!”
The demon squawked and bolted into the trees, scampering on all four legs. Amity was right behind him, flipping her gray mask down.
Luz followed right after, pulling down her own mask dotted with small splashes of color and a light spell engraved into the forehead that she was so proud of.
The girls chased the demon, darting through the trees. Amity was definitely ahead, focused on the dog-demon like her life depended on it.
Unfortunately for the demon, he wasn’t all that fast. He ran himself right into a thorn bush, squeaking and jerking out of it in pain a moment later.
Amity skidded to a stop behind the demon and grabbed him by his collar, lifting him up in one movement.
“I got him!” She breathed.
“Woo! Go, Amity!” Luz cheered, rushing up beside her. The mask hid the momentary surprised look the witch gave her.
“Release the King of Demons at once!” The demon snapped, flailing in Amity’s grasp. “Or I’ll have no choice but to kill you both!” “Aw, he’s so widdle,” Luz cooed.
“Now’s not the time, Luz.” Amity said sternly. “This demon is the pet of the Owl Lady, he’s our best bet in catching her.”
“Pet?” The demon gasped, offended. “The King of Demons is no pet! I am a mighty tyrant!” “Sure you are, pequeña linda.” Luz continued, clearly not taking the demon seriously.
“Where is your master, demon?” Amity demanded, lifting the demon so that he was facing her.
“The King of Demons has no master!” The demon crossed his arms.
“Absolutely, you’re your own independent demon,” Luz said matter-of-factly, standing beside Amity, the gears of an idea whirring in her head.
“That’s right, I am.” The demon agreed, giving a proud look.
Amity gave Luz a questioning look, but her mask hid it as Luz continued on.
“And an independent demon can give his own independent statements, right?” Luz continued on.
“Sure I can! Everything I say is fact, after all.” The demon agreed.
“Then, if you don’t mind,” Luz said, tilting her head. “Could you, perhaps, tell us where the Owl Lady is now?” She asked. “After all, the King of Demons must know for sure, doesn’t he?”
“Of course I do! I’m--” The demon paused before glaring at the human.
“Hey! I’m not telling you where Eda is! Nice try, Emperor servant!” The demon sneered.
“Eh, worth a shot.” Luz deflated.
“Look here, demon.” Amity hissed, a long and drawn-out one as the beak of her mesk squished against the demon's nose. “You are going to tell me where the Owl Lady is or so help me I--”
“You can hiss?” Luz gasped, turning to the girl. “I didn’t know witches could do that!”
“This is not the time, Luz!” Amity snapped, lowering her hand holding the demon's collar so that he was hanging in the air by her hip. “And why are you so excited about that? Are you telling me you don’t hiss?”
“Not at all!” Luz shook her head awed. “Wait...does this mean you can purr, too?” She asked gleefully, and Amity knew there had to be stars in her eyes.
“I’m not answering that,” Amity growled, making Luz squee more at the noise.
“Aw, you can?”
“That is not important right now!” Amity said quickly, getting more and more embarrassed as the demon kicked about in her hold. “We’re in the middle of an interro--”
A staff shot out from the trees, flying right between the two girls and making them jump back. The staff embedded itself in the ground just behind the girls, void of any palisman.
“--gation,” Amity finished, spinning towards where the staff had come from. “Who’s th--”
A small owl swooped out of the trees, knocking into Amity and proceeding to squawk and yank at her hood and cape with its talons.
Amity yelped and dropped the demon roughly, opting to instead bat at the owl and try to get him off. The demon was quick to jump back up and scurry off, quickly forgotten about.
“Amity!” Luz worried, hurrying over to help the witch.
Amity was shouting obscenities at the bird when Luz made it to her, clutching her staff and watching helplessly for a few moments.
An idea popped into her head.
“I got it!” Luz said, raising her staff and swinging it.
Amity ducked just in time, letting the owl be hit straight-on by the staff with a loud whack and go tumbling to the ground.
“Oh, wow, I actually got it!” Luz grinned, turning to Amity excitedly as the bird struggled to its feet again. “Amity, did you see that?”
“No, I was busy being attacked by an owl.” Amity grumbled, trying to smooth down her hood. “Where did that thing even come...from…”
Amity took a step back, staring up and behind Luz.
“What?” Luz blinked, completely oblivious.
She turned around to see what Amity was staring at, perplexed.
She was faced with a tall, wild-haired witch with a single gold fang. And a golden fury in her gaze.
Luz had no time to react before the woman drew a circle in the air and it lit up, already blazing with heat.
“Get down!” Amity shouted, tackling Luz to the side as the fire from the circle blazed right over Luz’s head, just barely missing her cape.
The woman tore her staff out of the ground before racing towards the two of them with terrifying speed, glowing an eerie gold.
Amity recovered first and got to her feet. She drew a quick circle in the air and an abomination barely bigger than a person rose, attempting to block the witch. All it accomplished in doing was slowing her down as she tumbled through on the other side of the abomination.
“Run!” Amity shouted, tugging the still-shocked Luz to her feet.
“But that’s the Owl Lady!” Luz protested
“Doesn’t matter!” Amity shook her head, already turning and booking it through the woods with Luz close behind. “You made her mad!”
“Me?” Luz cried incredulously.
“Get back here you cowards!” The witch shouted behind them, easily propelling herself off a tree and shooting towards them again.
Luz made a strangled noise and rolled to the side, feeling the wind the witch made as she barely missed the two of them.
Amity stumbled back, summoning her own staff and drawing a larger circle in the air, though it was clearly with some amount of effort.
She didn’t have time to finish the circle before the Owl Lady appeared beside her and kicked her feet out from under her, causing the witch to fall over and her spell to fail, her staff rolling away.
The witch turned at breakneck speed, spotting Luz trying to get a good grip on her staff before she ran at her, eyes ablaze.
Luz had no time to prepare before the criminal slammed right into her, knocking her back and against a tree with a sharp thud, her staff clattering to the ground.
Luz let out a wheeze and tried to scramble up and away.
The witch was already upon her and swung her staff, hitting Luz right in the head and sending her not-well situated mask careening off and onto the forest floor.
Panic filled Luz now and she cringed further down against the tree, eyes wide as she tried to cover her face with her hands.
The witch paused then, her staff raised to prepare for another hit.
She blinked, then stepped back. She lowered her staff and Luz dared to peek through her fingers, her breathing labored and heavy.
“Great Titan,” The witch breathed. “You’re just a kid.”
Luz stared at her for a moment, slowly dropping her hands from her face, but still remaining tense.
“Um...yes?” She offered weakly, unsure of what else the witch could possibly want.
“What’s a kid doing on a mission about me?” The witch demanded, glaring at Luz. “Is that Emperor’s Coven getting that desperate, or pathetic? I must be losing my touch, if they’re sending a twelve year old after me,” She muttered.
“I’m fourteen,” Luz piped up.
“Yeah, yeah, close enough.” The witch waved her hand. “That’s not my point, kid.”
Amity, who had recovered from her fall, suddenly came sprinting up behind the witch, her hands lit aflame with fire.
She howled a war cry before leaping in the air, preparing to throw the fire down at the Owl Lady.
The witch simply looked back and swung out her staff, hitting Amity in the ribcage and sending her to the dirt, fire dying out as she wheezed, momentarily winded.
The owl from before flew over and grabbed at Amity’s mask. She fumbled for a moment before her mask was ripped off, revealing her sweaty shocked face.
“Hey!” Amity snapped at the owl, reaching for her mask as it flew out of her reach. “You give that back!”
“You’re both kids!” The Owl Lady exclaimed, aghast. “They sent two teenagers after me? Not even an adult and one teenager?”
“Well, this isn’t how I expected a hunting mission to go,” Luz murmured, still stunned as the owl dropped the mask a few feet away from Amity and flew over to the Owl Lady’s shoulder, landing on it.
“You two, go back home and mess around with your penstagram or something,” The Owl Lady waved her hand. “I’m not gonna fight a couple of angst-ridden kids.”
“Then you’ve miscalculated,” Amity said, forgetting her mask as fire arose from her right hand. “Because I’m more powerful than you--”
The Owl Lady drew a small circle in the air, a burst of golden wind-looking magic shooting towards Amity and quickly blowing out the fire she had summoned.
Amity only stared at her hand, taken aback.
“Yeah, whatever, kid.” The Owl Lady rolled her eyes. “Just say you didn’t find me or something. I can’t deal with this today.”
“What?”
Luz and Amity turned their heads, seeing the same demon from before skittering out of the treeline and hiding behind the Owl Lady’s legs, glaring at the girls.
“You can’t let them go! They were mean to me!” The demon whined, pointing accusingly at Amity. “Especially that one!”
“King, I’m not beating up teenagers because they were mean to you. It’s tempting, but no.” The Owl Lady said sternly.
“Then what good are you anyway?” The demon, King, growled and stepped out from behind her.
Luz and Amity glanced at each other, sharing the same bewildered and confused looks.
“Run along now, and do whatever it is that kids do these days.” The Owl Lady said, waving her hand and stepping over King to turn back towards the woods. “By all means, tell the Emperor to keep sending teens after me, but it’s not gonna get him far.”
“Hey, wait! You can’t just leave!” Amity called, looking around frantically for where she’d dropped her staff. “I’m not through with you, yet!” “Well I’m through with you.” The Owl Lady said, barely sparing her a glance.
“Oh, wait, Ms. Owl Lady!” Luz said quickly, struggling to her feet.
“Ms. Owl Lady?” The witch repeated, raising a brow. “Kid, it’s Eda the Owl Lady.”
“Right, um, Eda,” Luz said nervously. “You’re, uh...you’re dog has my mask.”
Eda looked down, and sure enough, King had snatched up Luz’s mask from off the ground during the momentary confusion and was now wearing it like an extremely oversized helmet.
“King, don’t mess with that,” Eda scolded, easily plucking the mask off the demon and tossing it back to Luz, who floundered briefly, but caught it.
“Uh, th-thanks,” Luz said, offering a weak smile to the woman who was about to beat her senseless moments earlier.
“...don’t mention it.” The witch said after a moment. “Now that that’s over with,” She said, raising her staff and letting her owl situate back onto it.
“Wait, no, no!” Amity ran towards them, but she was far, far too late.
Eda swung onto her staff and lifted into the air in almost one fluid motion, pausing only to pull King onto it, and easily rose high above them.
Unfortunately for the girls, nobody had really taught them how to fly with their staffs yet. After all, they shouldn’t have even had them yet.
“Hope I don't see you around!” Eda called, waving down at them as King struggled to keep a hold on the staff behind her.
With that, she turned and zipped through the air faster than the two thought was necessary.
Leaving them both alone, staring at the empty, sunset-filled sky.
“Huh,” Luz said after a moment. “She seemed nice.”
Amity groaned and thunked her head against a tree.

The death of Tim, death do Sister Sasha, the temperature, everything!
Love the makeover I intentionally did to your husband.
Mundane Quasarblast growls as his eyes glow aquamarine and angirly follows them monster for battle.

[steps up to the mic] Listen, this might just be me, but if you’re going to have a large cast of “main” characters, you should probably give those characters opportunities to display their skills and foils instead of handing it off to the “real” main character.
Obviously, this could probably speak to a lot of fandoms, but I’m just gonna talk about The Mighty Ducks for a second because that’s what inspired this train of thought.
A bit of a rant (analysis?) below the cut:
When we look at the movies, I think the original, as well as D2, handled their large cast pretty well. Sure, it was kind of strange not seeing Karp, Peter, Terry, and Tammy/Tommy in the D2 cast, but they seemed to fill their absence decently with the new additions. (Of course, that’s just my own opinion.)
D3’s where my real gripe is, and while I have yet to rewatch it, there are still a few issues about the large cast that come to mind. Going from giving Adam good arcs in 1-2 to side-lining him when there was a perfect opportunity right in front of them, setting up a conflict between Guy and Connie with seemingly little payoff, and completely cutting Jesse (an original and arguably very important Duck) out with, as far as I know, little explanation.
I’d like to clarify before I get into this next part that I actually like Linda as a character; she seemed to have a lot of heart and I really admire that. I don’t, however, appreciate the writers creating a female character for the sole purpose of being the love interest to the lead. I really do believe that they could have made a much more compelling coming-of-age story for Charlie had they not implemented that romance, which didn’t seem to add anything to the plot. It really wasn’t Linda who got Charlie to turn around and realise his kinda self-destructive behaviour, but Fulton and Bombay.
They really would have used their time better focusing on solely telling the story of the Ducks’; Charlie’s refusal to change, actually giving us a vague understanding of Connie and Guy’s lovers quarrel, Adam’s feelings of separation from the Ducks. They really did the Ducks dirty with this one, and, hell, they did Linda dirty too. (And, yes, I do understand that D3 was mainly there to wrap up the story, so naturally things were a little messy.)
Which brings me to Game Changers.
Look, I’m not going to subject you all to me nitpicking this show. I will, however, say this: I hope they give the Don’t Bothers/reclaimed Ducks other than Evan a chance to shine. Even Sofi and Nick, despite them arguably being the “second/third” main (younger) characters. Sam, Logan, Maya, Lauren, Koob — even the Capek brothers! — are listed as main characters, but they’re often not as focused on as Evan. I’ve seen someone argue that Sam was set up to be a really interesting character this first season and they didn’t really do much with him other than in Pond Hockey, which was kind of disappointing, and I think that’s an extremely valid point.
I can only really speak for myself when I talk about things I’d like to see if we get a season 2. Like, if they manage to get Joshua Jackson, I’d be pretty happy with a new-captain-meets-the-old-captain moment, but I would much rather see Charlie bond with Logan over absentee parents over Evan. Logan clearly has some unaddressed issues with his mom, clearly more self-aware that what his mom did was unfair to him, and it just furthers his already established arc (but I’ve spoken about that already). I’d like to see Sam’s character get explored more, and maybe see Bombay help him harness his X-factor! I’d like to see Lauren and Maya’s relationship grow, and the Capeks’ gradual journey learning English! Hey, maybe even see the Reddicks join the new Ducks and bond a bit with Evan like Stephanie and Alex did.
That’s what I, personally, would like to see, not Evan getting handed all the potential arcs. Because he pretty much got everything; absent dad, team captain, love interest, choosing between what's good for him versus the team, getting Bombay back onto his feet, etc, etc. Other than maybe Sofi and Nick, everyone else on the team has 1-2 arcs at most, and I think there’s a pretty good argument out there that some get one to none.
And look, I’m not so naïve that I don’t understand that large casts are hard to juggle. It’s difficult to focus on everyone especially when a particular character speaks more to you and especially with a time limit. But take my Logan and Evan point for example; it’s not hard to assume that a bonding-with-Charlie-over-an-absent-parent moment would go to Evan. That’s probably what the GC writers might assume. But if you take a step back, look at the rest of your cast for a moment, you can see that he’s not the only option. It’s all about sharing the wealth of arcs evenly amongst your characters.
(Also, I wanted to quickly include — I believe — @k-romantic’s idea/joke that Julie should’ve been the one to romance Linda purely because I think it adds to my argument of arcs being forced onto the main character when they could’ve easily been better suited for another character. Obviously, since it was the late 1990s and Disney’s a bunch of cowards, maybe they wouldn’t have used Julie, but I think another Duck dating Linda would have done what the writers were going for just as well, maybe even better.)

the Meat Life Stay-At-Home Watchlist
Chronicling what I have watched or rewatched through the pandemic so far
Tumblr media
The world has changed around us the last few months, particularly in the United States since March 11.  With the lack of events to hit up, like most Americans I’ve been catching up on some watching through the various streaming services and my own digital copies of movies and shows.
I didn’t really think of keeping up with what I have been watching until just recently, but here is what I can remember hitting up so far since I’ve spent the majority of the time at home.  Some are favorites that I would have watched anyway.  Some were unfinished until I got a chance to get back to them.  And others just became available.
Here’s what I remember of the watchlist:
Tumblr media
The Office (Netfilx) This is a favorite of me and the wife.  We watch this on the regular though.  My wife uses The Office as her lullaby of sorts, putting it on in the evening as she gets ready for bed and is in bed to fall asleep.  I did a post on the 15th anniversary, so I won’t really deep-dive.
Tumblr media
Gossip Girl (Netflix) Another one that my wife rotates with The Office as her lullaby.  The series is not bad, it’s basically The OC in Manhattan (both are created and developed by Josh Schwartz).  It also takes on a new perspective when you think about star Penn Badgley is the creep in You.  So Dan Humphrey gets this weird creeper Joe Goldberg vibe at times.
Tumblr media
Parks and Recreation (Netflix) I never got into Parks and Rec on its original run.  I was encouraged to check it out by some coworkers since I liked The Office.  It is a great show, very funny, and poignant in a way.  It feels like a throwback to when people could disagree politically and still get along.  There is a lot less of that nowadays.  We might need more Parks and Rec in real life.  I started this right before the pandemic and finished around the beginning of things getting locked down.
Tumblr media
Frozen II (Disney+) The sequel debuted on Disney+ early on in the quarantine period.  My family enjoyed it.  I thought it was entertaining, but I felt like it was weighted down a bit by the mythology explaining.  It seemed too busy explaining a lot of things.  Still an enjoyable movie, but the first is better.
Tumblr media
Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem, and Madness (Netflix) Intriguing.  The series debuted early in the quarantine period and became a staple of stay-at-home viewing and a runaway hit.  Lots of WTF moments.  It was like the train wreck analogy to the Nth degree.  But you can tell it was made in a way that leans in favor of Joe Exotic, making him look like a victim in the last couple episodes.  Also gave way to memorable memes ever since.
Tumblr media
The Rocketeer (Disney+) I haven’t watched this movie since I was a kid.  Looking back, you can see a lot of The Rocketeer in Captain America - The First Avenger.  Easy to see though, since they share the same director Joe Johnston.  Prior to America’s involvement in World War II, a movie star Nazi goes after an experimental rocket pack developed by Howard Hughes.  The rocket pack is retrieved by accident from a down on luck stunt pilot.  Fun movie.
Tumblr media
Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker (Disney+) I should have watched the entire Skywalker saga leading up to it, but I figured I have a ton of time to do that later.  This was a May the 4th watch.  I haven’t watched the Skywalker saga finale since it was in theaters.  It’s not a bad movie, I just feel it could have been a lot better with some modifications here and there.  Also, I believe this was going to be the Leia movie.  The Force Awakens was Han’s swan song, as was The Last Jedi for Luke.  I feel like this would have been great for Leia but obviously they were limited due to the untimely death of Carrie Fisher.  The scene where Ren/Ben speaks with Han after battling Rey would have hit harder with Leia instead of Han.
Tumblr media
Trolls: World Tour (VOD) Cute kid movie.  Was nice to hear a lot of familiar music.  Sucks that rock was the villain in the first couple acts.  Seeing it once was enough, though.  Like the first Trolls, I am glad my kids enjoyed it but did not participate in excessive multiple viewings.
Tumblr media
Onward (Disney+) Didn’t get a chance to catch this at the theater before they closed them down.  Great movie, but gosh.  Why does Pixar always pull at the heart strings like that?  I was quietly crying to myself at the end.  I’m glad we made our living room dark theater-style, otherwise my kids would have seen me all torn up.
Tumblr media
Fast and Furious 5-7 (Fast Five - HBO, The Fast and the Furious 6/Furious 7 - Digital) I ended up not watching the entire series.  There is a great trilogy within the series, 5-7 was that trilogy.  Fast Five was the best of the FF franchise and where it perfected their movie formula.  It was like an action Ocean’s Eleven with cars.  6 and 7 expanded on that formula, upping the humor and ridiculousness factor.  6 had the exits of the Han and Gisele characters (they found a way to tie in Tokyo Drift to the rest of the series, Gal Gadot was on her way to becoming Wonder Woman for DC).  And 7 had that great ending with the tribute to Paul Walker to the sounds of Wiz Khalifa and Charlie Puth.
Tumblr media
Toy Story 4 (Disney+) Another Pixar hit.  Didn’t hit me quite as hard as Onward or Toy Story 3 did emotionally, thank goodness.  I thought this story was over the way Toy Story 3 ended.  But Pixar did a good job adapting to prolong these characters stories.  It did feel like it was a bit of two and three combined looking back.  Still very good, Pixar knows what it’s doing.
Tumblr media
The Marvel Infinity Saga (Disney+/Netflix/Digital) Leading up to the one-year anniversary of the release of Avengers: Endgame, I went through and rewatched all 23 MCU movies.  This time, I went in chronological story order by starting with Captain America - The First Avenger.  I chronicled the order I watched in my last post.  Even after viewing many of these movies multiple times, I’m still amazed at how much I enjoy them and the scope of what Marvel was able to achieve leading into the climax in Endgame.
Tumblr media
Community (Netflix/Hulu) I loved Community on its initial run on NBC but never watched any of the episodes when it was on Yahoo for its sixth season.  It has been great to rewatch the meta-humor and sitcom trope parodies.  And since Ken Jeong and Joel McHale started their own podcast called The Darkest Timeline (half COVID-19, half Community pod), it has been a good companion viewing.
Tumblr media
The Back to the Future Trilogy (Netflix) Recent add to Netflix for easy viewing, these movies have been a favorite of the Mitra boys since childhood.  Upon viewing as an adult, there is some humor that I didn’t recognize as a kid that is hilarious to me now.  It is also crazy how well this teen time-travel sci-fi comedy works.  Some of the effects in Part 2 are dated and 2015 didn’t quite end up the way it did in the movies.  But overall very enjoyable on the rewatch!
Tumblr media
Extraction (Netflix) High budget action flick funded by Netflix?  Written by the Russo Brothers?  And staring Chris Hemsworth?  I’m in!  Directed by long-time stunt man and Russo Bros go-to stunt coordinator Sam Hargrave (you can tell the Russo influence).  It has an awesome 15ish minute one-shot action/chase sequence that is top notch.  Don’t think much about the plot or the controversy of cultural representation, just enjoy the action.
Tumblr media
The Mighty Ducks Trilogy (HBO) Another childhood favorite of mine.  Nevermind that the hockey itself isn’t accurate.  This is about pure fun for an hour and a half at a time.  Come for the hi-jinx, stay for the heart.  Triple-deke, knuckle-puck, taking out the trash.  And leave it out on the ice!
Tumblr media
The Harry Potter Series (Blu-Ray/Digital) This was not a go-to for me until Linda made me watch the entire series.  I guess when the first movie came out, it was too much of a kid movie for me (I was a high school senior at the time).  But from the second movie onward, it felt like the storytelling and movie making got better and better.  The Deathly Hallows was an epic ending, even if they did change the ending from the book.  I didn’t watch the newer Fantastic Beasts movies along with this though, my wife did.
Tumblr media
Westworld - Season 3 (HBO) Recently got HBO back, so I caught up on Westworld Season 3.  I haven’t rewatched the previous seasons yet, but I may revisit it soon.  Season 1 was spectacular, Season 2 was confusing as hell but still entertaining.  Season 3 is somewhere in between, expanding on the ongoing storyline.  It was more straight-forward because its storyline is in the “real-world.”  For those of you that have watched, didn’t you think it was highly ironic that the Incite ball was basically the AT&T logo? (AT&T is the parent company for WarnerMedia and HBO)
Tumblr media
The Last Dance (ESPN/ESPN+) The Michael Jordan docu-series has been a god-sent for sports fans devoid of live American sports for the past couple months.  Is it Jordan-biased?  Sure.  But it is full of drama and intrigue and full of nostalgia.  The NBA had commissioned a camera crew to follow the 1997-1998 Chicago Bulls on their run for their sixth NBA championship.  Jordan owned the controlling rights to the footage and unlocked it after the 2016 NBA Finals.  So this documentary was years in the making and with the pandemic the release date was moved up.  Although it featured a lot of unseen footage, it also chronicled the years leading up to the 1998 Bulls title.  The last 5 Sundays have been awesome.
Tumblr media
The Princess Bride (Disney+) I haven’t watched this movie since I was a kid.  It wasn’t one of my recurring watches back then.  So this was actually my second viewing of this movie ever.  I found it quite enjoyable.  It was cheesy, but fun, and a good family watch.  One of the many older titles available on Disney+.
Tumblr media
Scoob (VOD) My kids had some of the older Scooby Doo episodes on DVD and watched them when they were younger.  This was a fun revisit for them and for us as parents.  It was actually cool seeing a lot of the Hanna-Barbera characters in one movie.  We watched this shortly after finishing Community, and my kids recognized Ken Jeong’s voice as Dynomutt.  My daughter hilariously shouted “Senor Chang!” when she recognized him.
Tumblr media
The Indiana Jones Series (Netflix) I introduced my son to Indiana Jones a few months ago watching Raiders of the Lost Ark.  He loved it.  He lost a little bit of interest during the Temple of Doom, I think the character Short Round lost it for him (character hasn’t aged well).  The Last Crusade reclaimed his interest.  Harrison Ford was at his natural apex playing Indiana Jones.  I did not watch the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.  I didn’t feel the need to revisit that installment, while it was enjoyable the alien ending ruined the lead up to it.
Tumblr media
The Dark Knight Trilogy (Batman Begins/The Dark Knight - Hulu, The Dark Knight Rises - Digital) Every few years I try to revisit this series.  It is the best thing DC has ever put out cinematically.  While Begins and Rises is more comic book, TDK is a straight crime drama set in the world of Batman.  My favorite is Rises, but the absolute best comic book movie remains The Dark Knight, even with the advent of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Tumblr media
Jurassic Park/Jurassic World Series (Jurassic Park/The Lost World: Jurassic Park - Blu-Ray, Jurassic World - Digital, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom - Cinemax) The original Jurassic Park is such a great movie.  Rewatching, it’s crazy how well the effects for the dinosaurs hold up.  Steven Spielberg, Stan Winston, and ILM did a great job mixing animatronic and CGI dino effects that stand the test of time.  The Lost World was enjoyable but not as good as the original.  I skipped JP III, such a bad movie.  Jurassic World was a good way to reboot the series, basically a remake of the original but incorporating a lot of references to it.  I just finished Fallen Kingdom today.  Although Fallen Kingdom was entertaining, it fails to recapture some of the magic of JP and JW.
I’m not sure what I will hit up next.  I might hit some Keanu Reeves movies like Speed, the Matrix Trilogy, and/or the John Wick Trilogy.  Maybe Top Gun.  Maybe rewatch Friends or How I Met Your Mother.  Maybe something on HBO Max when it comes out like The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.  Maybe Terminator.  Possibilities are endless, at least until some American sports return.
