There's a lot about discussion of hdwr that baffles me (not all discussion to be clear, because i do think there's a lot of good discussion about hdwr. But equally so are there the ones that make you wonder if you're reading the same story) and I think one that is especially annoying is the constant infantilization of miwa as this passive eternal victim. It drives me up a wall because this is quite literally an issue she's struggled with within the text of the story! She had an arc about how she dislikes how people treat her this way like towards the beginning of the story! And like even ignoring that, this story is about like nuanced and realistic portrayals of being in relationships and learning how to navigate them and so it's like what's the point if you're going to immediately reduce the characters to "the victim" and "the victimizers?" Is that even interesting? Is that a useful lens to look at interpersonal relationships?

#how do we relationship #hdwr #this is about the poll in the subreddit but i also saw similar comments (mostly about sae) on the website i was initially reading hdwr #i dunno like i'm like miwa fan numero uno so like i get ardently defending her but in my opinion #part of what makes these characters interesting is that all of them are extremely flawed in ways that can negatively feedback on each other #miwa has also done bad things to the other characters and been bad for them as well #i do think miwa repeatedly trying to turn being fwb with sae into a second chance despite sae clearly saying no #and repeatedly breaking sae's boundaries during that time was bad and shitty of her #i do think her avoiding tamaki and trying to supress her feelings despite that not being what tamaki asked for or wanted was bad andimmature #i do think that while miwa was under no obligation to say it to her i do think miwa's inability to tell sae that she loved her #even while asking to get back together was undeniably bad for sae as someone who had insecurities about being loved #personally these things are not unfortunate irredeemable aspects of her character #nor do they justify or excuse what happens to her #but instead characterize her as being inexperienced with romance and having strong feelings she isn't always able to completely express #or understand fully. this is an aspect of her character that is relateable and understandable to me #i find it hard to say that if i was in her position i wouldn't make the same mistakes as her #and like this is just one aspect of miwa's character. she of course has more than this which is why i am miwa fan numero uno but also #the same is true for like all of the main cast #they have depth and flaws that are relateable and realistic. even if you don't like a character's actions they're internally consistent #within not only the character themselves and the context of what they've been through but also the narrative itself i feel #which is why i like this story #so it feels unfortunate to flatten that all into who hurt who more or who is innocent and who is evil or whatever #like yes i obviously do think what sae did in like volume 5 was bad i also think what she did in vol 1-4 were also various shades of bad too #yes i do think what tamaki did in 103 was obviously bad #i mean ch. 119 and ch. 120 most likely are about exploring the consequences that has had on miwa #i just don't think it's useful interesting or even correct to look at those events as 'bad people doing bad things'#also while not related to miwa i think people who treat yuria and sae's relationship this way also baffle me i cannot understand it #channel 3

I’ll emphasize.#in terms of the societal parts of Amore the kingdom kinda flourishes in the arts of all sorts and trade within the kingdom it goes crazay…#they were pretty closed off from the rest of the galaxy though. like their tech and stuff is pretty outdated compared to most of the other-#planets with atleast escape ships and all that fun stuff.#foreshadowing #ANYHOW lovebugs are silly guys I think of them as like weird hedonistic freaks of sorts #they have very big dionysus worshipping energy to them just to give a perspective #and of course they prioritized relationships and the different forms of love #romance actually wasn’t even the big thing that built the kingdom #it was more like a love for community and friends #which is also kinda silly because of the monarchy aspect to Amore and all that #OH ALSO these guys go absolutely crazy with fashion and makeup. gender isn’t a major thing in the kingdom in my eyes #you WILL serve cunt!! /silly #WORLDBUILDING ASIDEEE Val was the prince to the kingdom and was set to be the heir to the throne #the designs are like three different route ideas ive had for Val #the first is just a baseline design so like. pre amore‘s destruction from dominator #the second is like a good ending design of sorts to my ideal lineup for a season three for woy with val continuing to embrace the lovebugs-#history and culture even with Amore gone and a good portion of her people #and the third. is a bit hard to describe because it’s more of an au but it’s just a concept idea I had of Val teaming up with Dom #(it would be short lived like probably a few months max so dw)#and silly note i joked about the idea of val being an ex to peepers BUT I WANNA DEVELOP THAT MORE BEFORE I SHARE.#tap into that this may be cringe but i am free mindset or something slash silly TEEHEE #BUT YEAH Val’s just a silly gal in my heart and soul no matter what. ive missed her a lot i wanna work on fics with him and especially to-#develop more stuff for Amore and the Lovebugs before Dominator’s destruction of the planet #BUT YEAH i wanna Val post more. go into depth for their dynamic with the other characters and all that #I may cook some more stuff with him once I get these stargazing fics all set and whatnot SO WE’LL SEE!#also /nf but if anyone would wanna ask questions about val/amore/lovebugs ask away I’d love to answer any questions! 🥺

i need to remake my cup bros ref… both cup and human designs… it’s been almost a year(?) and i’ve developed the headcanons and i would like to share with the class!!! (i wrote thirty tags. Please help me)

#my little hc i kinda showed in the refs but didn’t point out: cuphead’s handle appears broken/in human form his ear is halved #cause he has microtia (that also affects the eustachiantube/middle ear). basically i am a HoH cuphead truther #also to add onto that i think he has poor auditory processing issues cause i also see him as AuDHD #double also. while he would use ASL on a bad hearing day i think regularly he also uses home signs to express words/concepts #autism-related btw. it’s actually a bit visible in insert cuphead media (to me at least LOL) that cuphead expresses a lot of body language #so not liking conversation oral or signed as well as replacing oral words w home signs is in character. at least to my headcanon whatever #floats your boat!#OH! plus his split upper lip that i draw him with isn’t related to the microtia. he just roughhouses and chipped/tore his lip open when he #was younger #cuphead is also a trans boy. it feels right to me LOL #even back in 2017 when i barely knew the game or also much about trans people i saw cuphead and was like hm. hm!#tbh he just pawned his clothes onto mugman. who i’ve also changed my hc for i see him more as bigender than a cis boy now #LOL. i cast bi on mugman. sorry buddy #OH HIM TOO. im so sorry mugsy i have like two headcanons for you 😭😭😭#she uses he/she 2 me. i like casting personal parts of myself onto mugman even if i gravitate more towards cuphead/chalice #i see him as a bi ace as well. and a hopeless romantic. i don’t ship uhh i don’t remember what it’s called #i don’t ship cala maria X mugman (respect though) cause i see the cups as kids and i’m also a hilda X maria shipper LOL #but in the show. i will be real that she is a hopeless romantic. even for period typical ableism it still drives me nuts for karen to go oh poor matt how can he deal and get around as if he hasn't been blind most of his life at this point and living on his own by himself as an adult for his entire adult life after college and has also lived in the city his whole life like girl use your damn brain he can get around by himself just fine. good god. like take five seconds to use your brain. literally adult man who lives by himself if nothing else that should tell you he is fine and when he needs assistance has the knowledge and ability to go get it you act as if he can't even walk on the sidewalk by himself. he literally shows up to work by himself. it drives me up the wall sometimes how she sees proof of him functioning fine independently literally witnesses it on the daily and still thinks these things. like again foggy isn't great either bc again the period typical ableism (and just general ableism in the world outside of this period as this is a common attitude of viewing disabled people as helpless and unable to function even if they are people who do live independently (and im not touching on people who do need extra support and caretaking in this context. as this post is about these characters in the context of a story. so im talking about what we see there instead of any truly meaningful nuanced way) but the writing here is like. Particularly this way due to the time) he has a modicum more of understanding that matt is literally a capable grown adult man. literally told karen matt is a big boy who can handle himself and then karen went b-b-but you forget he's blind as if foggy hasn't known him for years of his life and is his best friend like PLEASE SEE HIM AS AN ADULT. I AM GOING TO GO INSANE. PLEASE RESPECT HIM IF YOU LOVE HIM SO DEARLY. AND EVEN IF YOU DIDN'T. JUST RESPECT HIM AS A PERSON!!!!!!

#i think it's particularly maddening bc we have seen characters be able to understand civillian matt is like. more than just Blind Man.#i am always highly aware of period typical writing and can remember the context etc etc but sometimes.#sometimes it truly. truly does drive me up the wall. especially when other characters have been capable of not being That Level #of infantalizing. again foggy still isn't much better in a lot of respects he is just as capable of and has been as infantilizing #and insulting as karen has been. for sure. on multiple occassions. no questions asked. but i dont think he does it to the extent karen does #as in we dont see it on page just as much. it's just a bit less. so we see karen focus on it far more. to an almost exaggerated extent #part of that is the romance plot of ohhh i cannot possibly love a blind man while foggy is matt;s best friend of many years #so of course it will be in the way of the stan lee and old romance comics schools of writing that this goes down and is written like this.#of course we see her focus on it a touch more in a different way bc she's still getting to know matt and hasnt witnessed him #for about like a decade(? they met in undergrad right?) function on his own the way foggy has. but jesus christ man. good god.#at a certain point even with the period time context it does just still leave a bad taste. at certain points it becomes less eye roll #and far more maddening and hard to push down. bc it is gross. no matter what time period it is.#again. both of them are pretty disrespectful towards matt about it at this point even if mostly in their inner monologues or dialogues #with each other and not super to matt's face about it every time. but still. sometimes karen drives me far more crazy about it than foggy.#becase at least foggy can in fact recognize every now and then. matt is a perfectly capable grown man who can function and thrive.#and is someone who lives independently but also can know how to get assistance when needed.#while karen at this point has never really once given matt the benefit of that assumption despite witnessing his capabilities.#because even with his act of trying to fit the image ppl have of him. he still functions within that! and shows he can do things!#and ask for help when he needs it! even within his act of making himself smaller and quieter for others.#he's still like. adult man who lives his life. and does stuff on his own time.#i cant really speak about matt on any more deeper level than that in regards to his disabilities. i am not disabled.#i only speak as a reader and someone watching what these characters do and have proven to be able to do and how they act.#so i can only talk about karen and foggy's behaviors and attitudes in that regard.#and also as a person with like. basic understanding of other ppl living their lives. that all ppl live their own damn lives however it is #like most ppl on planet earth.#i apologize if any of my wording here is bad or if i dont talk on it well as none of this in the real world stuff is my lived experience #and you are free to go hey. incorrect. think about that or word that differently.#ok i promise im done now it's just. Like Lucanis' romance is fine but I feel like the crow for crow thing is just them trauma bonding and neither one of them gets to actually... move past anything to do with the crows, where as with Emmrich she might actually get to heal a little? If that makes sense?

i'm not the most well versed in animated princesses so i'd be happy to take other suggestions on this front, but when enchanted (2007) came out, every single goddamn person i knew (including some of my university professors) took the time to tell me that an animated movie had been made starring Me 😂

so i guess giselle, because starstruck is still a sona and shares a huge number of my core traits! i haven't seen the sequel or heard much about it, though, so i'm not sure how well it still holds up!

i really like ericka and wolf's interactions in the pilot. and honestly just generally wolf's interactions with the interns

the fun part about me finally watching yokai gakuen is that when i watched the movie like 3 years ago i joked about jinpei having comphet but guys. i don't think it's a joke anymore
