do people really look at arthur and just go “yeah hes allistic” like that is the most autistic man ive ever seen (half joking). arthur is so driven and steadfast in his ideals so when something shakes him it shakes him Hard. its hard for him to regulate emotions well (trauma + autism). he trusts easily, which is funny because he says he doesnt when he so clearly does. hes “dense” at times and doesnt pick up on a lot of subtleties, and when he does he finds it hard to express what he wants to say (again this is both a trauma thing and an autism thing). he fidgets, especially with his mothers ring. theres alot more i could name but thats all i could think of right now

some hcs: he likes routine and this is mostly the reason why he gets annoyed at merlin whenever he unknowingly derails it, i got this one from a fic actually but i think one of his special interests is just like cataloguing and organizing things and when he was younger he liked doing that with bugs and as he grew older he had to focus his attention to more “practical” things (because of uthers insistence) so he does this with weapons as well as like utilizes this skill in directions as well, this guy hates so many textures i feel and all day everyday hes seconds away from a meltdown (which manifests into snappy anger) but he grits through it because he cares more about duty than his “weird brain problem”

i think itd be funny (and sad) to imagine arthur thinking he was probably cursed as a child, then a magic a reveal happens, then after all of that arthur asks merlin if he Is cursed and merlin is like “i think youre just. Like That. but thats okay im also kind of Like That” and arthur realizes that his manservant truly was just a little weirdo and that wasnt just his magic talking and maybe HES also a little weirdo. solidarity

okay, so, to explain my thoughts on how i view sephi, i'll call back to the post i made right before this one

homeslice is the most miserable and detached man in existence at the time of nibelheim

hes barely there and has barely been there for a long ass while. sure he can do basic things like brush his teeth, shower, brush his hair, but i believe he's too far gone to even give a fuck about his appearance, assuming he ever did back in the day. he's naturally beautiful enough to get away w it, but still

og seph, to me, isn't a person and hasn't been long since before nibelheim. never once in the entire game is he a person. we never get to truly hear about him from himself, only through word of mouth, legends, and from flashbacks from Mr cloud "unreliable narrator" strife. even the words of his clone that usually interacts w the party during the game cant be fully trusted to actually be how sephiroth feels bc of jenova's presence in general (no matter if you believe which one controls the other)

sephiroth is a dead man. even when he was still breathing, he was a dead man. he was a man that was beaten into a complete husk and was left as a corpse w a pulse. a corpse who would rather ignore reality than go through the painful experience of having to live inside his own mind

but thats how i see him, personally

walter was tortured and brainwashed and turned into a puppet by the corpos. even before then he was conditioned for 50 entire years, ever since he was a child, for this purpose. he's audibly in pain when fighting you. and yet. and fucking yet. it takes him one single look at ayre now that he can finally see her to conclude none of it would be worth killing your friend. it takes him one good look at her to break out not only of the brainwashing but his convictions too. all of his pain would not be worth killing someone who he knows has been helping you this entire time. he doesn't value his own life above yours, he doesn't even value his own life above ayre's. he doesn't value his own life above that of your friend he's met 5 minutes ago because he knows she makes you happy.

if ayre and walter met in better times they would be best buddies. ayre has no reason to hate walter - she doesn't even want him to die even after finding out the truth!! walter has no reason to hate ayre either !! he'd love her because she makes you happy, he'd love her because she made you have a semblance of a normal life and the human connection he couldn't provide. every time sb writes ayre and walter hating each other an angel loses its wings. Stop Doing It.

Okay so did i mention that one of the things that pushed me into looking into portal was my hyperfixiation on one eyed characters? Well so, back when i started to draw cores it was hard for me to adjust (and still struggle to this day) with making facial expressions having solid and still eyelids

And now i decided to try and draw eyes on a way i was comfortable with and it actually feels like I'm growing two pairs of wings because i feel so free right now by only drawing these what the hell

trying to articulate why it feels wrong to call him charlie, because thats still him but at the same time not.

he's changed and things cant go back to the way they were, noel took up a new name one to remember but also to move on

i don't think noel is a fake name to him more so just a new identity he's taken up as an extension of himself. or at least someone he's rebuilt himself as after the dreamlands. i don't think he's discarded charlie as an identity but that he just has two names that are both very real to him, however just one of them is more in the forefront than the other so he'd be unused to his old name being used.

but i also think that he'd feel extremely disconnected to his old life and name that it would be uncomfortable and feel wrong for him, might feel that his past is catching up to him or maybe he'd be afraid that if he stops using noels name he'd be abandoning him in some way

or just using the name as an escape from the king in yellow who likely would've called him by his original name

i recognise this is like probably nothing at all but it is rotating in my brain and i need to get it out, i love saying shit and being completely incoherent

Before we call anon rude because let’s see it from their perspective, imagine getting an entire feast to eat. That can be pretty hard to start with so much that’s going on, but if they start with one thing they know they’ll like (aka one character they like) that can be the start for them leaping to other characters to finish the story and the bigger story. I struggle the same way to start book series if I don’t have at least one character that drives me to read it, it’s all about what can be the hook to push them through. Sounds like the anon is neurodivergent (just a guess) so they might genuinely not see it as rude and see it as a solution to even play the game to start with.

Btw absolutely adore the game, the complex and rich characters making them all so unique is amazing. The art is so pleasing to the eyes I love it!! I’m waiting for it all to get out at once so I don’t get too impatient. Shae however interests me the most, which routes will have the most lore for them? Will there be routes that give more lore in general based on decisions you make or do they all share the same amount? (I mean general lore not just Shae lore)

Apologies; we are not trying to accuse any asker of being rude! We are simply explaining our perspective as the developers / are trying to broadly encourage folks to dip their toes into other areas of the story outside of the main route(s) they're interested in, especially considering some routes will be made available sooner than others, and these other routes will likely contain additional scenes/lore of everyone's fave(s) regardless! We want to give each main cast member an equal amount of love (and lore) regardless of their overall popularity, so our goal is not to tut-tut anyone for having strong preferences for one character over the others, but rather to explain that you may be surprised by how much *more* you learn about your preferred characters in the other routes. That's all!

For Shae... Well, they were a foot soldier for one of the worst periods of the War. Lore wise, any other story that touches on the War will likely have content relevant to them and their experiences. ^^
