When I read kotlc I genuinely thought sophiana was a ship I completely made up and that no one else would agree with me because I had yet to discover that ships don’t have to be canon for them to be valid

Discovering new-to-me queer media. Thank you.
My pronouns are she/they.
I grew up in the Pacific Northwest and relocated to the US South at the beginning of the widespread COVID outbreak. With the isolation of lockdown, living in a more (generally) regressive area, and the hate cloud created by bigots intentionally targeting queer rights...it's all been a lot for me.
For us all.
Yet, recently, I've begun to see cracks in my defensive shell built of hardened fear and apathy. After many years inactive, I logged in to Tumblr this November. While some shout into the void that Tumblr is dying, I've found a vibrant community of artists.
What brought me back to Tumblr? It was a Wheel of Time gif of Moiraine and Siuan in Google image search results. Queer media brought me.
What's keeping me here? More gifs of Moiraine and Siuan? Yes, but also Liara and Shepard, Aloy and Seyka / Aloy and Talanah... But it's not just because I am thirsty for a specific fantasy genre ship. The artwork, writing, and gif compositions I've seen are created by people building and sharing original content that delights them. Creating because they love it.
Returning to Tumblr has given me insight into queer media that I had no idea existed. I've learned of "Warrior Nun" and "Arcane" from you all in gifs, original writing, and artwork. I also had no idea that the "Willow" show had queer characters.
I want to say "thank you." Thank you for giving me a glimpse back into what it is to find joy in silliness, to delight in moments of gay attraction, presence, and relationships being on screen. And thank you to today's writers for creating multi-dimensional characters who happen to be queer - doing authentically human things. We are more than subtext and stereotypes.

Hi guys! I started working on a new project called “A Court of Vast Waters”, I haven’t officially posted anything on AO3 yet (hopefully I’ll have a few chapters up by Monday🤞)
Anyways, the concept is if the characters in ACOTAR were pirates. I’m taking a lot of inspiration from stories such as Peter Pan, the Little Mermaid and Pirates of the Caribbean. It’s a multi-POV fic, with lots of themes and relationships to be explored.
With that being said, I wanted to share a snippet of my Gwynriel story I’ll be exploring in this fic. It’s an Ariel/Prince Eric retelling but with much larger things at play. If you’d like to read it, it’d be under the page break! 🧜🏻‍♀️🌊
Despite his unconsciousness, Azriel’s siphons blared brightly as he descended further into the deep water. Cobalt of the purest blue blasted through the dark trenches of the sea, like a beacon of light on night’s unrelenting waves. A truly magnificent sight bound to beckon any curious passersby to investigate fully.
~
Gwyn saw the wreckage first. She’d actually been on her way to another wrecked sight, a ship so old and long forgotten that now lay nestled between two large underwater rocks on the ocean floor. She passed near it days ago and saw an object reflecting light; somehow the sun had caught it, even as deep down as it was. She knew that whatever it was, it had to be absolutely remarkable. Gwyn couldn’t examine it further, out of fear of being late to her lessons with Merrill. The ancient, white-haired mermaiden would never let Gwyn out of her sight again if she was tardy. So, Gwyn begrudgingly placed the coordinates of the ship in the back of her mind for a later time, that mysterious shiny object etched into her brain like a sun-kissed freckle.
Now, debris of splintered wood floated near her in the water. It wasn’t uncommon to see pieces of a ship in the ocean—men and fae always underestimated the power of the vast waters—but it was a bit odd to see remnants of a wreck this far out into the sea. Usually, the waves would either swallow the ships whole or regurgitate pieces of it back on their shores, as if Tehome herself was reminding those who dared to venture out not to fuck with her territory.
However, the remnants of this ship were too far out to be an accident. The captain must have intentionally made the journey, which didn’t make sense to Gwyn as the land here had not been discovered by them yet. Had not been plagued and decimated by the land-walkers. Her and her sisters spent many of their days freely relaxing on the sandy shore of the beaches or the large rocks near the whirlpool, laying about sipping on coconut wine. For that land to be discovered, to be taken away from them, as so many others had been previously…
A shiver shot down Gwyn’s spine, and the end of her cyan tail twitched, the movement causing bubbles to float to the top, rippling the surface in their wake. She’d heard stories her whole life of their villages being pillaged by these land-walkers. It’s what caused them to push further and further into the ocean, in hopes of finding new places to live openly.
Of course, they had their underwater cities. Homes carved into the rock, caves became banquet halls and intricately placed shells decorated the exterior. A homely abode—well, as homely as it could be in the trenches of the sea. As much as the mer needed the water to survive, they also needed the sun. Whatever power the mer had, it was strengthened by the golden rays of the sun. And the light didn’t entirely reach their underwater villages, not fully, at least. That’s why these secret islands were so sacred to them. They could lay out boldly and soak in the sun without the looming threat of a land-walker.
A rogue plank floated up to Gwyn, and she eyed it. A small black scaly wing was carved into the wood, an emblem of sorts. She knew she should swim back and alert the elders, but her curiosity got the better of her. She didn’t see any survivors, and the wreckage was too far away from land for them to get anywhere if there were any. The merciless waves would not allow them to swim any great distance, especially not anyone with legs. Whoever was on this ship would not be alive now. Gwyn found herself thinking about that shiny object again and decided to hell with the wreckage. Tehome would take care of it.
Gwyn dived under the water, her auburn hair floating behind her like molten copper. Gwyn whipped her tail, causing hundreds of small colorful fish to scurry away, as if they knew not to get in her way when a treasure was on the line. Her pouch—made of woven kelp and seaweed—smacked against her hip as she swam, the strap of it pulled tightly across her chest to ensure her trinkets inside were safely in place.
Her mind was running wild at the treasures she might find in the crevices of that old ship when she saw it. A faint glowing blue light, shining up on her. Not down. She would have missed it, if her eyes were not trained to spot things of wonder. It wasn’t a sharp reflection or the golden rays, or even the silver light of the moon that Gwyn was used to. No, the blue of it was an illumination of something else entirely. Something new and different, a sight she’d never had the chance of beholding before.
Like a beckoning call, Gwyn swam to that cobalt blue luminescence.

fic writer ask game: 1, 2 (and why), 4 (if you have any, otherwise you can just tell me who your favourite character is), 5, 9 (and why), and 15! :D
Thanks for the ask!!
1. What is your favorite line in the last fic you wrote? Okay this was really hard because all of the lines feel so tied up in their scenes but I really like this line from Chapter 2 of Proof of Life
“Of course, all magic resides inside you, but this is much more raw. More dense. Before humans ever had enough words to create spells, they could still use magic like this.” The fire on her palm blazed brighter. “There have always been fire mages.”
2. What fic was the hardest to write? Probably a tie between not hard enough (but it isn't easy) and Proof of Life for completely different reasons. Not Hard Enough was difficult because it was definitely an emotional fic to write and I had to tap into experiences I've had and try to translate them into something readable. Proof of Life is difficult for the sole reason in that it's the most ambitious fic I've tried so far. I only have six fics (5 for Snowbaz) in total and each one feels more like an undertaking than the last.
4. Who is your favorite OC character? Besides Simon and Baz, it's Fiona Pitch. I'm in love with Fiona.
5. What's a ship you like but haven't written yet? I really like Agatha/Niamh and I have a few ideas bouncing around here that one day will be written. Also like Fiona/Ebb has been in my mind too lately idk
9. What is your favorite part of your most popular fic? My most popular fic is Do As You're Told and really I'm just so proud of that whole thing, it was the first multi-chapter I'd ever written and I had so much fun. My absolute favorite part is the love confession/first kiss scene at the very very end.
15. What's your favorite fic of all time? What an impossible question. Uhhh, let me check my bookmarks. The problem is I started reading Snowbaz before I had an ao3 account and then I didn't start using bookmarks right away so many of the fics I've loved are lost to the corners of my foggy memory. I love Woundrous and Mystical by philaetos though, so I can share that one. But there's so many fics that I love take a look at my public bookmarks I'm sorry most of them are stranger things fics it took me a while to discover bookmarks.

wait, Mara & Eris destroyed a Pyramid?
Maybe! Sort of!
I have a long ass post with several other connecting posts because I've been obsessed with this for a long time, but all of that is from before WQ released. Initially, I speculated that the Pyramid in question would be the Pyramid in the throne world (because it's conveniently damaged in the middle), and we had nothing but vague images of it being there. But outside the speculation which turned out wrong/unconnected, the rest of the post explains everything from the Witch Queen Collector's Edition and how it relates to Sjur in great detail.
In short, back in the Forsaken year, there was a lore tab in which Fenchurch has a vision of Mara and Eris confronting/damaging an unknown vessel. It was hard to say at the time, but when I read this post-Shadowkeep, it was really obvious that it was a Pyramid ship so that gave me fuel to connect that vision with a dream Sjur Eido had, also released in the Forsaken year in which she saw Mara and another woman destroying a "great black triangle."
At the time I believed that this was talking about some future event, something that will happen in a future season or expansion. However, WQ CE had a multi-page chapter dedicated solely to clarifying this in which Fenchurch sends a report to tell Ikora that he has spoken to Eris about his vision and that Eris confirmed this event has already happened. As a matter of fact, he only had a vision because Eris sent a message documenting this event, embedded in a shard of the Pyramid, for it to be found by someone in case she dies.
At some point after Forsaken, but before Shadowkeep, Mara and Eris (with the help of Elsie, the Nine, Rasputin and even Failsafe) discovered an early arrival of a single Pyramid ship to the edge of the system. They went there to meet it, in the orbit of the dwarf planet Eris. At some point, Mara went into orbit of the Pyramid and possibly entered it; this is unclear. Eris could not tell exactly what happened, except that Mara came in contact with the vessel and then died. Eris went to pick Mara up from her throne world and then the duo landed on the dwarf planet where they found a lot of debris, apparently from the Pyramid ship. Eris was wounded so Mara helped with the wounds. Eris also picked up one of the debris pieces and embedded a message to it, then sent the fragment to the Moon with her Hive shenanigans. The fragment was eventually picked up by Fenchurch.
We don't know exactly what the debris was and what Mara did with the Pyramid, but the description of the fragment was matching Pyramid material and I used that to identify it as Pyramid material, before WQ CE. So the debris on the dwarf planet should be Pyramid debris. It's however unclear if Mara did damage that caused that debris or not. On the other hand, both the vision from Fenchurch and Sjur's dream (a little embellished, as dreams tend to be) are describing the same event. So the event during which Sjur is "close to figuring her way out" has already happened. Whether Mara destroyed (or damaged) a Pyramid or not.
Which is why I believe that the conditions for her return have already been fulfilled. Obviously, being "close" to finding her way out is relative; "close" could've meant weeks or it could mean years. We don't know where Sjur is and how exactly she died, and she described it as being trapped in a maze.
It could also be that there will be another instance of Mara and Eris attacking a Pyramid ship in the future (Sjur's dream also mentions Crow being present). In that case, the conditions for her return have not happened yet. But until we see something of the sort happening, this is the best match for Sjur's dream and confirmed as real, via Fenchurch, meaning that her dream was not just nonsense.
Honestly, if anything like Mara, Eris and possibly Crow destroying a Pyramid might happen, we only have Season of the Wish left for that to occur so it's now or never (ofc depending on what happens to the Pyramid ships post TFS). If Sjur's dream is not the event described above, then it would have to happen next season, so either way Sjur-Eido-Returns believers are awake and ready. I will definitely understand if it doesn't happen and everyone should be ready for it not to happen, but we have a chance now so we're eagerly waiting to see if something happens.

Okay y'all, listen up, because this evening I went on an Odysseus-style odyssey, in that what was meant to be a quick jaunt with minimal difficulties turned into a multi-hour trip where I was thwarted every step of the way.
As all good disasters do, it started off well enough. My mom informed me that a local, extremely large booksale is on today and I decided to go, because yay, books!
Then my dad, who was in the same room at the time, generously pulled out his wallet, handed me some cash, and told me to go buy myself a book! So even better, free book(s) and no requirement to return the change! Jackpot! I drive to the booksale in high spirits! Arrive! Enter the building!
...
What the heck, why are there so few tables?! What has happened to this booksale, it's in an area the size of a full-sized basketball court and usually it's full of tables covered in books! There's maybe an eighth of that! It doesn't even have a sci-fi/fantasy section. It's, quite possibly, the most tragic I've ever seen this booksale look, and I'm unable to find anything to my taste there.
However, like Odysseus before me, I don't assume failure at the first hurdle - I was told to buy myself a book, but I was never told where I had to buy it! To the local bargain outlet, which has all sorts of delights to offer, including books, and I've found some good ones there before! Not tonight, apparently, but, like. It's happened.
So that's... less than fun.
Also, I'm starving at this point, because I left at five-ish and haven't had supper yet. So, since this place sells food, I grab a box of soft strawberry granola bars for $2, because my money tonight is for literature, not sustenance, and I'm not out yet! There's still Barnes & Noble, the local mega-chain bookstore, which I have mixed feelings about! But it's my last option at this point and, hey, graphic novels! Manga! All sorts of exciting new releases! I was just there a week or two ago and even wrote some titles down while I was there!
My friends, I walked all over that store and perused books for two hours, and I found nothing that sparked enough joy to accompany me home. I did find a couple with minor potential, and one that gave me heart palpitations and made me regret the choices that had led to this point in my life, but nothing I felt the desire to own, you know?
My feet hurt, because I wore the cheap sandals that are only good for short expeditions. It was late. I wanted to go home and get a mom hug to help with the trauma that came with the heart palpitations.
But I had no book.
I had not fulfilled my mission.
A state of events that was simply unacceptable.
Unfortunately, as I mentioned, it was also about eight at night and everywhere around me other than a few grocery stores tend to start rolling up the carpets within an hour or two. So, in an act that would make Odysseus proud, I rearranged my strategy! I would use the cash to buy the Christmas gift I've been meaning to get for my dad (I get my holiday shopping done early), then go home and buy a couple books I'd been eyeing on Amazon!
Books would be purchased!
Triumph would be had!
I got home and discovered, as Odysseus did, that not all was the pleasant peace I had left it in! Except instead of a bunch of entitled suitors trying to marry my wife and steal my throne, the internet had gone down five minutes before I opened the door.
I chose to do the mature thing in order to gain Athena's favour by screaming into a pillow. About twenty minutes later, the internet turned back on! Success!
I discover Amazon has upped the amount you need to spend to get free shipping from $25 to $35 as of September 8th, because they are an evil mega-corporation and not my friend! Rage!
However, still rich with Athena's blessing, and in dire need to prove that if Odysseus can do this then so can I, I made one last-ditch effort... and went and asked to use my parents' Prime account to get free shipping for my order.
And thus my books were finally ordered, and, like Odysseus, I am at last triumphant, but boy golly, that was 90% more effort than it needed to be, what the heck, what sort of sick, dystopian future am I living in that I finally have my own money to get books but can't guarantee the bookstore will have anything I want to buy?!?

Sometimes I really want to read a short summary of what to expect from a game with a very particular description that CATER to my OWN SPECIFIC interests, so here we go.
what to expect from ENDERAL
Free Skyrim mod which has an indipendent lore and story from Skyrim. It is a sequel of Nehrim but Nehrim is not necessary to understand the story
This game deals with PTSD, abuse, trauma and depression in quite an explicit way to be careful, if you are triggered by these topics
You are a refugee looking for a new life in Enderal. You can choose different abilities (magic/assassin etc.) and races (always half human)
Very eery feeling and mystery feeling - honestly, some of the sequences in this game still haunts me
To avoid spoilers I will just say that you end up thrown in trying to solve a mysterious diseases that makes people aggressive, murderous, called the Red Madness
the game has a lot of lore and is mainly based on finding out more about this mystery and how to stop it - you won't find all of the answers, and not everyone will tell you the truth
like Skyrim the game has combat + dialogue choices, expect that your choices here matter for the outcomes of different quests and the final ending (there are three endings)
many quests are actually quite long and filled with material and characters, not a lot of fetch quests
you have two temporary companions (Calia and Jespar) who are recurrent, and then you have other characters who sometimes accompany you. You cannot choose your companions, they are more like characters who gets assigned to the same quests
Romance is indipendent from your gender and you can romance Calia or Jespar. Both have multi-parts personal quests/interactions
There are other characters who have big roles/quests: Tharael, Esme, Yuslan, Lishari, Dijaam.
The game is quite big, the area/world is also pretty big
One of my least favourite parts is that the game is quite dark - as in I had to use torchlights all the time (my pc also doesn't help, here)
You can buy two houses and decorate them!
The game is relatively linear, you have a series of main quests and you can explore the whole world and accidentally find other secondary quests
beautiful scenery!
there is fast travel all over the world, plus you can ride a horse or a donkey
ALL characters are voiced (a part from the protagonist)
plot? You play as a refugee escaping from their old home. While on a ship to Enderal, you end up discovering you have mysterious magical powers, a magical fever and can sometimes see events that have not happened yet. gameplay? Action rpg with dialogue choices and exploration, story-rich also it is a free mod characters? yes even secondary characters usually have an interesting story/personality. You end up with a cast of main characters, among these Jespar and Calia are sometimes your followers and have personal quests sadness level? MAXIMUM LEVEL
Under cut HEAVY spoilers about death-level in all three endings:
.
.
There are three main endings: one where you sacrifice yourself and it is assumed that part of the city got destroyed... everyone dies but your lover/closest companion. Another ending where you escape with your companion - the world is destroyed and only you two survive. And a third ending where based on when you drink a potion, you save the world without sacrificing yourself and survive with your companion - or did you? It might be a dream.

LTB Tav Tuesdays: Cannor Coth, the Lost Singer (Part 2)
Tumblr media
A very loose version of @kelandrin's Tav Backstory Bash to follow-up this post about Cannor, my first and favorite 5e/BG3 character. Since he had an established bio long before I'd heard of BG3, I'm using my own homebrew setting names and can switch them out for BG3/Faerun stuff at the end. Is it tropey and clichéd? Probably. Do I care? I do not. Here goes:
Vitals: 37-year-old human male Bard (College of Swords), with a background of Spy (Artisan in BG3).
Childhood. Cannor is the accidental result of a tryst between two Kalen exiles: stoic field surgeon Macanso of Cutheleann and unruly Lady Corda of House Baethu, who met in the stratified yet chaotic confines of the Kalen rebel outpost at Sevánhra in rural Narán. Cannor's childhood was already stunted by limited contact with his mother—a connection cut permanently at age seven, when Corda joined the Exiles' Army in their doomed crusade to retake the Kalen homeland from usurpers and invaders. Dishonorably discharged and increasingly alcoholic, Macanso tried to train Cannor as a healer, but the boy longed for escape to the wider world, enraptured by stories and songs of travellers, traders, and sailors passing through Sevánhra's tiny port. When Mac finally drank himself to death, Cannor got his chance, and at age ten stowed away on a Caranacian ship bound for the City of Fortune.
Adolescence. Discovered and mentored by the lenient boatswain Maramad the Tramontine, Cannor worked for his bunk until the ship was ambushed in the Narrow Sound by bloodthirsty pirates. With his protector among the dead, Cannor was thrown off the ship in Caranacia and sought Maramad's sister Cabella at the Wandering Star Inn. Once there, Cannor awkwardly and soon expertly charmed his way into found family, friendships, and flings—finagling his way through the City of Fortune's taverns, markets, shrines, and academies until he could handle himself in a fight, in the sheets, on stage, or in negotiations. This was also when he experienced a catalyzing event: witnessing the famed traveling bard Ruqirt Al-Zeem (aka "Raz the Rambler") perform at the Wandering Star.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Adulthood. Gripped by ambition, at 18 Cannor left Caranacia on a multi-year voyage, singing and strumming through the ancient cities and storied nations further west, from theocratic Emberhaven to cosmopolitan Great Zeyira, from the archaic Hundred Islands to austere Sanduzca, City of Balance. His shortest version of that story is that "it was a great plan until it wasn't." He fell in love with wayward Yedalari acolyte (and eventual semi-divine "Queen of Revels") Apertumina of Labri, and the trip soon soured into disaster, throwing him in with traders, fanatics, smugglers, acolytes, slaves, pirates, caravans, and troupes before ending in a Sanduzcan dungeon thousands of miles south and worlds away from home. After rotting there for a year, Cannor escaped with a fellow prisoner, the Schismastic apostate and Ovalansi warrior Suvarro Egir, eventually returning to Caranacia by his late 20s and re-establishing himself as "The Lost Singer."
Recent Events. Recruited by the Equiposium (Caranacia's academy of diplomacy and espionage), at 32 he continued performing as a cover for intrigue high and low among the city's movers, shakers, guilds, and gangs. The power and privilege went to his head, and after too many conflicting clients and tangled affairs—most explosively with the ambitious noble scion Esadora de Errocamesi, niece of his Equiposian spymaster Regina de Atraveisa—Cannor caused several simultaneous diplomatic crises, and was banished from Caranacia. With Esa's help he eluded capture, landing in the distant backwater of Saithaaven, and at 37 is getting ever more desperate to repay that debt and regain his independence, and someday return to his adopted home city.
Tumblr media
Nua-to-Faerun Parallels: The Naransi city of Caranacia, Cannor's adopted hometown, is a sort-of medieval Iberian/Al-Andalus-esque civilization in my homebrew world. It's sort of the Barcelona to its two sister cities Narancia (faux-Cordoba) and Enancia (faux-Gibraltar). In Faerun it most easily becomes Baldur's Gate—and its Equiposium is a handy stand-in for the Harpers. Cannor's current location, Saithaaven (Seven Harbors), is much more of a Celtic-Teutonic mashup a bit like medieval London or, in Faerun, probably the chaotic frontier settlement of Luskan. Regardless, he was unhappily stuck in the dangerous sticks.
BG3 Notes: Before being captured by the Nautiloid, Cannor was scheming ways to get back into Baldur's Gate. He plays original songs, so he doesn't get many gigs and had despaired of gaining enough fame to return home. He was chased by Karlach, seduced by Lae'zel, and kissed by Shadowheart, but fell hard for Minthara—both physically and emotionally, and was obsessed with helping her escape the cult (to the bewilderment of his companions). Her value of loyalty above all else, even power, was ultimately what hooked him—but her contemptuous disdain for the Harpers didn't hurt. Neither did her beauty, of course.
As for the other companions and followers, Cannor respected Aylin like an elder sister for umpteen reasons, and related to Jaheira's resigned ambivalence about the Harpers. He empathized with Gale and Astarion. He tolerated Minsc and Wyll and steered well clear of Mizora. Oh, and he fucking loathes Volo. After the events of BG3, Cannor found himself involved with yet another strikingly compelling noble (Minthara), and yet another overly-ambitious scheme (taking over the city with her, from the inside out). It would require some artful tact and deft dealing, but he wouldn't have it any other way.

20 Questions For Fic Writers
Thanks for tagging me @marley-manson!
No pressure tags: @hero-in-waiting, @spurious, @sparrowsarus, @dedkake, @logicgunn, @colonelshepparrrrd and anyone else who wants to do this :)
Everything is under the cut because this is going to be long.
1. How many works do you have on Ao3?
36, although one of those is a playlist for the SGA Songfest.
2. What's your total Ao3 word count?
76,731
3. What fandoms do you write for?
I have written for Good Omens, MASH, Stargate (SGA and SG-1), Person of Interest, and now Top Gun: Maverick.
4. What are your top five fics by kudos?
walking alone at 3am (TGM), The McMurdo Chess Club (SGA), Autopilot (SGA), I would never dare (Good Omens), and Class A's (MASH)
5. Do you respond to comments?
I very much try to. I love responding to comments.
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Angst-wise, I think it's Dear John (SGA), although it almost doesn't count because I wrote a follow up sequel that fixes the angst. There's no one I would rather be lying beside (SGA/SG-1) is definitely the saddest though.
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Oh man, most of them have pretty happy endings. I think maybe my favorite happy ending is You Can't Go Home Again (MASH).
8. Do you get hate on fics?
I haven't. People seem to be pretty friendly.
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
Yes. Some of the smut is just incidental to the plot, but I also do a few that are just smut. I guess I tend to write mostly m/m (although I have some f/f and want to write more of that) with a little bit of kink, usually some d/s dynamics and light bondage. I'm trying to get more comfortable with it in general. I keep on meaning to do some kinkmeme fills as practice.
10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?
Technically, my SGA/SG-1 fics are crossovers, but I don't think that really counts, since it's very much the same universe. Which makes I've bit my tongue too long to hide the blood I'm covered in (SGA/POI) my only true crossover. And definitely the craziest. Very niche fic that absolutely no one asked for, but I love it.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not as far as I'm aware.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Nope.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Nope.
14. What’s your all-time favorite ship?
Oh, that's so hard to answer. I feel like I have different answers for this depending on the day and the context. But it might be John/Vala (SGA/SG-1).
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
My SGA fic where John dies while Rodney is back on earth with Jennifer and Rodney comes back and slowly starts to lose it, seeing John everywhere. I have so many SGA fics that will take priority over it, and it's just sad, which is harder for me to feel motivated. It was also shaping up to be long, which I struggle with. I also haven't come back to SGA yet - I'm still thoroughly ensared by Top Gun at the moment.
16. What are your writing strengths?
Recently, I've discovered I may actually be good at fluff. Either that, or the TGM fandom is just really, really nice (or both). On the more nuts and bolts of things, I usually only write something when I feel I have a good handle on the character voice, and my grammar is generally really good (although when I'm tired I fuck up tenses and have had to go back and fix that too many times to count). I also think I do a pretty good job with making romance sweet but not over the top.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
Comedy. I occasionally write some funny lines, but it's very hard for me to write jokes if I'm intending to do so. Also, as previously mentioned, I will sometimes switch between past and present tense without noticing and have to go back and fix that. And I really struggle with writing long fics (I just run out of steam). Which is why I've mostly moved to writing series of shorter fics instead of multi-chaptered fics.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
Depends. Usually, I'm not going to bother. I just put some Hebrew in a fic because a character was celebrating a Jewish holiday, but it wasn't a whole passage, just a phrase that I think can be worked out from context (although I'm going to put in an end note to help give some additional context for anyone who isn't familiar with that particular Jewish holiday). But I'm not going to ever do anything more than that - I think it makes things a little harder to read, and generally, I think that you can say things like 'Radek muttered in Czech' if you want to bring in another language.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
First fandom I posted in was Good Omens, but I recently realized that I should count the comic my friend and I made in 6th grade, where we essentially put all of us and our friends into the Sammy Keyes universe (and also, wow, my character went by a man's name and dressed like a guy but still used she/her pronouns but didn't mind he/him and was essentially aromantic, and hindsight is 20/20)
20. Favorite fic you’ve written?
Again with the hard choices - I love so many of my fics. But right this moment, I think Autopilot (SGA) is my favorite. It's the only one I wrote longhand, and I wrote it because the SGA server was doing a challenge to write a 15-sentence fic. It was super fun to write, and I think it turned out really well.

Hi hi! If the One Piece self ship rambling is open, I would love to throw my hat (haha straw hat) into the ring! I recently got into the show (and yes I am making my slow journey across 1000 episodes) and have been falling in love with it quickly. And uh… I may have fallen for a certain blonde pirate cook. As I like to put it. I am currently Sanji for Sanji haha! I just don’t know! The way he genuinely can be a kind and badass dude but also be hilarious has my heart. Not to mention, someone mentioned in the anime that he first fell for Nami upon seeing her being silly with her friends. Not prim and proper nor stellar. Just herself. And I just… I NEED THAT!
This led to me creating a sona for One Piece! Since I’m still working through the show, my sona lore (I tend to treat them like OCs but based off of me and my own growth throughout the years alongside other self indulgent stuff like “mmm… I’mma be a pirate”) is still up in the air. And I probably won’t talk about all the lore here since gosh it would probably be… way longer then I’d like to admit… I made a species for this (specifically an One Piece version of selkies cause I discovered One Piece did nothing with selkies yet and upon discovering Sanji had a thing for mermaids, my brain went “hmm… seal mermaids”), I just gosh I’ve been enjoying this show so much and creating this sona. So far she is a member of the Strawhat Pirates, having initially joined to get passage to her home island due to being kidnapped from it by pirates and being utterly lost only to find family in the crew and become their chronicler, recording their adventures alongside any important information they should keep in mind while sailing such as supplies and current plans. I think so far my favorite thing for planning her has been designing her cause I decided to have her face initially covered for backstory reasons so she looks intimidating only to be a crybaby failgirl who is quickly charmed by Sanji but is too nervous and caught off guard by these feelings to say anything cause expectation subversion. And I don’t know, I’m such a sucker for the trope where the hopeless flirt actually gets a win without knowing it cause the other person is struggling to convey it. And so I’m excited to explore the duo that is the “looks like she could kill you, is actually a cinnamon roll” mess and this malewife cook I adore who simp for each other
And yeah! Thanks for providing this opportunity and I hope you enjoyed the rambling! And consider me a follower of this blog since you seem epic!
\o/ I love it!! And welcome to the fandom! I hope your experience is as great as mine has been!
I've fell in with really solid people and I cannot actually hype them up enough to be honest. If you do come across someone cranky, just block 'em and more on honestly - it's a huge fandom so there's all types wandering around.
Sanji's a good choice! He's got a heart of gold as far as I'm concerned. I have plans for a multi-chapter fic for him soon ^_^ (soon being 2024 at this point, but still). He's not one of my mains, but only because he's a little too much for me xD
I love the addition of a Selkie and everything that entails. It is a solid set up for a really good romance between your OC and Sanji =3 And you can adjust it as you want in the One Piece world - have fun with it \o/
I hope your story develops, and you feel compelled to write it down, even if you don't share it! \o/ May all your words and arts for it be just as you want them. <3

I think it did strike me at this very moment (1:47am, 11 January 2023) just how unhinged tumblr is to me, specifically. And blogs, in general. Allow me to explain.
I come from a somewhat long and arguably very not rich history on Twitter. Multi-faceted, perhaps, but honestly really just a whole bunch of people following me for reasons that I really could not say. Having joined Twitter at a time when I was still figuring out who I was (see also: high school) and then gaining a sudden influx of followers due to reasons I believe were fandom related, those numbers went directly to my head, and I of course began to base my self worth off of them. Is this a good thing? Absolutely not! Have I done the same thing with my AO3 account? For frickin sure! And yet, Twitter is simply me yelling into the utter void, and the void doing jack shit about it.
I made a blog on tumblr at the encouragement of my sister several years ago, because it was where she spent most of her time, and she has a specific tag for me, and I thought it was HILARIOUS that that was something that one could just… do, tag their sibling in posts for said sibling to then peruse later. So, of course I made a blog.
I then ghosted this bitch. It took the near-death experience of Twitter to bring me back to tumblr, where I promptly rediscovered my love for Star Wars, and made a post about it. A POST THAT IS STILL GETTING NOTES. It has over 100 at this point, and it’s SUCH a change of pace, because while on Twitter everything is fast-paced and nothing I say usually gets anything more than two likes, I make one post about this ship I suddenly discovered that I ran headlong into and it’s still getting notes I think well over a month after I made it.
Now, that brings me to my usage of “unhinged”. Literally, “off one’s hinges”. My hinges had been defined to me for the past five years as screaming soundlessly into the void of space and not expecting a reply. I scream about Codywan on Twitter and nothing happens, literally so many tweets go by without a single like (yet now I know exactly how many people see it and don’t interact, have i ever mentioned how fucking stupid an update—). I say one thing about Codywan on tumblr, and it’s still getting notes. And as long as there are Codywan shippers, likely will CONTINUE to get notes, which is also kinda wacky.
Idk. At least here I can yell into the void at 2am and if the void doesn’t answer back I don’t feel bad because I genuinely have no clue how many followers I have, how does this site even work pls I’m still new here
(Also it’s very nice being able to ramble in one post in well over 240 characters. And also formatting?????? What a gift)

Misty Island Rescue rewrite draft.....thingy
(I copy+pasted this from my original wiki post btw. Idk if that actually matters, but whatever)
Technically it's more of a summary/outline cuz I haven't even written it. Idk IF I'll actually write it, but this is just an idea of what might happen. This is actually my first time trying to write for Thomas, and my first ever time trying to write a multi-part fic so things may or may not be consistent. I've considered posting this outline here for a while just to see what others think but I never gathered the courage to do it (it might be cringey, idk) until now. (Also, the "how" Thomas got on Misty Island is probably really dumb and stupid cuz I can't think of any other reason. I wouldn't mind any suggestions)
I started this in June or smth and I haven't touched it since the end of that month. Now it's August so idk what the deal is with this
What I'm posting here is not all I have, but I don't want to post all of it yet, in case I actually do write it and don't want to spoil it or smth.
It is summer on Sodor. There have been many strong storms and stuff, which have caused many emergencies. The emergencies varied throughout the season. The Sodor people decided that they need a rescue station for all the rescue vehicles. They want it to be built in a strong material. Hiro tells Sir Topham Hatt (STH) and the mayor about Jobi wood, and that it is the strongest wood in the world. He also says it's only found in Japan. Although expensive, it would be worth it cuz a rescue center is important.
A month later, the preparations for the rescue center are close to an end. The blueprints are basically done and a location has been decided. Everyone is excited for it. Soon, the Jobi wood comes in. An engine takes the wood to the lumber mill. A few days later, during the early night, a dry thunderstorm occurs. Thomas was making his way to the shed when he sees smoke in the distance, so he decides to check it out. He comes to the lumber mill (which is closed, meaning no one's there) to find that a tree was knocked down and landed on the Jobi logs. The tree was on fire from lightning and it spread to the logs. Thomas had to make a decision. He decided that he'd go to the nearest signal box to call for help and then use the water in his boiler to temporarily control the fire. He knew he couldn't put out the fire, so he tried to not let it spread. Unfortunately it had already spread to a few flatbeds of Jobi logs. Despite feeling weak from lack of water, Thomas keeps going. When the fire service finally arrives, Thomas was shunted away near a water tower. He comes back to see that the fire was put out.
The next evening, STH announces what happened to the lumber mill and Jobi wood. A lot of the Jobi wood was destroyed so the building of the Search and Rescue Center will be delayed for a while. STH says that the mainland was asking for him to loan an engine for a couple of weeks, but he hasn't decided who yet. As a reward, he sends Thomas. Thomas is very excited.
A few days later in the afternoon, Thomas and his friends are waiting at Knapford Harbor for him to be loaded on the ship. Thomas did a couple jobs in the morning before going to the harbor. He's about half-fill on water and forgot to refill before going but decides to refill at the mainland. The bridge is under repairs at the moment, which is why he's going by boat. The reason why he's not at Brendam is cuz no ships for engines were coming any time soon or smth. Salty is also there because he had to take some trucks to the harbor. While they wait, Salty tells the tale of Misty Island:
Misty Island is an island. Although it's not too far away, it is hard to find due to it always being covered in mist. Nobody today remembers seeing Misty Island. No engine nor human. Many years ago, near when it was first discovered, a railway was being built. No one knows why, but it was later abandoned. They say a few engines remained there, engines that were different than Sodor engines. They keep each other company, hoping someone finds them. Some say that before their steam went out, they puffed 3 clouds of smoke as their last hope for be rescued. No one knows if the engines are still there in one piece, or if they've decayed throughout the years.
At some point during the story, Edward mentions that he thinks he's seen, or at least heard of Misty Island. Because he isn't 100% sure, he doesn't explain much. After the story, Thomas realizes that the engines must've used smoke signals. Upon questioning, he explains that his driver once told him about it. 3 puffs mean "danger" or smth. He says that he'd also use 3 puffs if he was in danger. Percy says that they'd come to help him.
Soon, the ship is ready to load Thomas on. Everyone says bye and Thomas leaves. Unfortunately, a storm happens during the journey at night. It blows the ship off course. Thomas' chains come loose and he falls off the ship or smth. They were relatively close to Misty Island so Thomas kinda floats to it (while also sinking cuz he's an engine). He ends up on shallow enough water so he doesn't sink anymore. Out of fright or smth, Thomas passes out. The waves kinda push him onto shore even more than before he passed out.
Thomas briefly wakes up to see himself beached on land. It's the middle of the night and he doesn't know what to do. He's exhausted and can't stay awake so he falls asleep again. With no crew to wake him up, he stays sleeping for a while.
The next afternoon, STH gets a phone call. He was told that Thomas wasn't on the boat when it arrived to the mainland. Thomas' crew did arrive, they were the first to notice their engine was gone. STH is very surprised by the news. STH decides to tell the engines the news that night cuz he doesn't want to interrupt their jobs and knows how they'll probably react. He figures the engines will spread the news so he doesn't gather everyone.
That night, all the engines are in the shed talking about their day. STH comes in his car, surprising them because he doesn't usually come at night unless there's smth important. STH tells them the news, shocking them. They ask questions like "when" or "how" is happened. STH doesn't know but answers the best he can. After STH leaves, they talk about the situation. They wonder where Thomas could be, especially since he disappeared in the middle of the ocean.

14, 19, and 25 for the ask game, please? :)
Thank you for the asks, dear @acrossthewavesoftime!
14. Favorite book you read this year? I'm glad to get this question twice, as I had a few favorites! Another great book I read this year was Anarchist's Guide to Historic House Museums. I spent most weekends this summer giving tours of an 18th-century New England courthouse, and so had plenty of time to think about how docents approach tours and how historic houses present themselves to the public. This fascinating book has lots of new and radical ideas about how docents and other house-museum professionals can present uber-local history.
19. What’re you excited about for next year? A couple things! In February I'm presenting the first phase of my work on reconstructing the lives and labor of the enslaved in my New England hometown by using three 18th-century account books. It's my hope that someday the account books and the transcriptions I've done will be available online for everyone to access.
The other thing I'm looking forward to this coming year is creating a finding aid for the archives at the small historical society at which I am a trustee. The upkeep of the archives has not been a priority for some time, and I am eager to begin to get it back into (usable) shape.
25. Did you create any characters (in games, art, or writing) this year? Describe one. While I didn't create any new characters this year, it's been great fun to work on the backstory of a character I developed in 2019 for NaNoWriMo. The character's name is Nat Roy, and he is based on the "sailor half" of the Great Seal of Maine (below). I've talked about him before in this blog, I think.
Tumblr media
Nat is the son of a wealthy physician in Berwick, Maine, who was meant to follow in his father's footsteps. Recognizing that he is not cut out for such a life, especially the marrying-and-starting-a-family part, he runs away to sea in 1813. He discovers that he enjoys being a sailor, and that the life of a sailor allows him, a young man who loves other young men, a kind of freedom he could never have on land.
While in the yet-to-be-completed novel, set in 1820, Nat ends up falling for Eben Sprague (the "farmer half" of the Seal), Nat also has a bit (a LOT) of history with other fellows, one of whom was the Master's Mate of the ship Olinda, Benjamin Hawkins. @focsle drew a wonderful commissioned piece for my spouse featuring Nat and Ben on board the Olinda:
Tumblr media
Nat has a long relationship with Ben Hawkins during a multi-year cruise from Salem to Sumatra and back again, though the two end their affair once the journey is over. After several years apart, they run into each other again in Salem and rekindle their acquaintance. Happily, they discover they are excellently paired as friends.

I commented it on my rb of “Natasha is Young” already, but I just had to say it again: If I had a nickel for every time you wrote a fic for a fandom w/ (afaik) v little agere content and then I loved that fic, I’d have two (2) nickels. It isn’t a lot but it’s /wonderful/ that it happened twice. Your fics are great. (The other fic was “Old Friends” for Calvin+Hobbes)
(also, I’ve seen the musical get shortened to “Great Comet” and “GC1812” most frequently)
Awww thank you!! There's a few fandoms on my list that are much smaller and I rarely (if ever) see agere fics for them. I've been trying to allow myself to follow my inspiration lately, even if it takes me into less popular fandoms, and I always love the results when it's one of those ideas I just had to get down on paper.
Also for your comments on the fic YES I love the idea of post-musical cg!Pierre and regressor!Natasha as well!!!!
(shipping mentions under 'read more,' including shipping argument mentions and War and Peace spoilers??)
Honestly Pierre/Natasha/Helene with Natasha as a the joining force, either as a romantic partner or as an age regressor, is one of my favourite ideas for Great Comet and I haven't really explored the fandom yet but that was my idea since the first time I listened to the musical
But then I went to my partner and was like "aren't Pierre and Natasha cute?" and my partner was like "you are such a weird shipper" (affectionately) and she totally read it as a father-figure situation in the musical (both of us got like halfway through the book and didn't manage to push through)
So when I was researching for this fanfiction I ended up reading a summary of War and Peace and was like HEY BABE GUESS WHAT and we were both absolutely shocked and amused to discover my "weird" ship was endgame.
Of course Helene gets left to the side in the book (innocence can be forgiven but never knowing sin) but I'm still holding my OT3 in the universe where Helene adopts Natasha as a regressor and then Pierre finds Natasha one day when Helene is out and also takes care of her and everyone is happy forever because I said so
If I had any faith in my ability to finish multi-chapter fics, I would absolutely make this a series where it's an ot3 endgame, but alas, I always run out of steam around chapter three and leave everyone on cliffhangers for forever, so I try to stick to one-shots for now
Ooh sorry for rambling on!!! I haven't gotten to talk about Great Comet with many people and apparently I have opinions >w<

Tumblr Writers Q&A
Thank you lovely @fromthedeskoftheraven and @songsformonkeys for the tag, your answers are fascinating, i really enjoyed reading them! 💕
1) How many complete fics/one shots do you have that you have not published (yet)? None.
2) How many WIPS do you have right now? ooof *hides head in hands* 27 (not counting my notes app)
3) Do you take writing requests or write original ideas, or both? Both!! I have taken requests, I’ve even managed to finish a few!! Altho i am the slowest writer ever and there are requests sitting in my inbox that are a year old. I would love to be able to thrive on requests or prompts but here’s the thing: I write for myself, I write to cope with my own circumstance and I don’t know how to trick my brain into writing for someone else 😅
4) If you do take requests, how many do you currently have? Currently I have 5 requests in my inbox. (My most sincere apologies to dia and flora 😭)
5) How many fandoms do you write for? The Mandalorian - Triple Frontier - Narcos
6) Are there any fandoms you wrote for in the past that you no longer write for? lotr, the hobbit, marvel, plus others that we won’t discuss ok 😂
7) Do you write for ships, reader inserts or other? Writing reader inserts from second person was new to me when i joined this fandom. I don't use y/n though.
8) Niche fandoms/characters you write for? None, really!
9) Do you read fics as well as write them? Heck yes. More importantly tho, I leave comments on everything i read. Writing is hard and supporting other writers is how I show my appreciation for what they do.
10) What is your favorite genre to write for? Fluff. Romance. Soft smut. Domesticity.
11) What is your favorite trope (to read/write)? Fave trope to write: I can’t write without a healthy dose of feelings/comfort/safety. There’s a reason all my fics feature Established Relationships. Throw in a Gruff competent badass who is only soft for their s/o??? I froth. That’s my ultimate jam …but I’m always hungry to read mutual pining, slow burn, mild hurt/comfort, only one bed, idiots to lovers, fake dating, huddling for warmth. Also I love a good italicized oh moment.
12) What do you do to get motivated to write? I’ve been known to write fics based off a single inspo photo/gif.. so to some extent I’m visually motivated, seeing as I have a sideblog dedicated to visual inspiration. Having said that, once I have an idea in place, nothing motivates me more than making a playlist/moodboard - or finding a perfect poem or line of lyrics. Flailing with others in the chat sometimes helps get the words flowing.
13) Is there a trope/genre you like to read, but not write? So many. Sci-fi, Historical romance, time travel, oooh also poetry, stuff that I find too intimidating to attempt myself.
14) Any characters/fandoms you want to write for that are never requested? I’ve never really thought in those terms before tbh.
15) How long have you been writing fanfiction? since highschool
16) Did you read fan fiction before you started writing? Not at all, actually. Like @songsformonkeys also mentioned, it wasn't until after i had years and years of notebooks filled with fics, that I discovered other people did that too.
17) Do you only post on Tumblr, or any other sites as well? I also use AO3.
18) What do you personally consider the word counts of “Drabble”, “One shots” and “fics”? You can call it whatever you want, I'll still read it.
19) Which do you prefer to write more? HC, drabbles, oneshots/fics, multi chapter stories, other? i've only ever been able to publish one-shots, although i have multi-chap ideas and one day I’d love to be able to tackle a proper fic.
20) Are there any stories you have discontinued? If so, why? I have sequels and/or prequels planned for a few of my one shots, and I hope to finish writing them. But if we’re talking incomplete wips, yeah, several been abandoned because i got stuck midway through and lost motivation.
21) What is one of your main “pet-peeves” as a writer on Tumblr? Sadly, some of the best fics I’ve had the pleasure of reading on here get little to no recognition. Idk if this is a pet peeve and idk if anyone else relates but I will say it is daunting to post your writing on a platform like this. For an introvert like me, it’s a very ‘nose pressed into the glass’ type of thing - like you’re crashing a party where everyone there is already friends, and I don’t know if that feeing ever goes away, at least for me.
22) Do you write at a particular time of day? I write whenever free time and inspiration collide, which is not as often as i'd like.
23) Do you listen to music, ambiance/noise, etc to write or do you need silence? I'm stealing Raven's answer because same: Definitely silence, I need to hear my thoughts.
24) Do you outline your fics at all before writing? if I do outline, it's done in my head. Sometimes a single line of conversation spills out first, and I write the whole thing in bits and pieces around that. If I’m very lucky I can stitch it all together into a complete fic.
25) Do you post your writing as soon as you finish it, or do you schedule it to come out at a specific time/day? Listen. I am a chronic editor, and I always let it sit for a few days and then come back to it with fresh eyes before i post it. But yes, once I'm happy with it, I almost always upload and post on the spot.
I don’t know who would like a tag or who has not done this yet so feel free to ignore🌸: @mourningbirds1 @hiscyarika @thirstworldproblemss @magpie-to-the-morning @floraandfrost @thosewickedlovelies @qveenbvtch @starlight-starwrites @miraclesabound @lareinadehades

Hazbin Hotel and VivziePop Drama
I've been hearing/seeing a lot of drama concerning Hazbin Hotel and it's creator VivziePop, and while I don't know her personally or really care what people think, I do hate slander and the spread of misinformation. Truly nothing in this world upsets me more than when people believe rumours while making no effort to fact check, and that's exactly what's happening right now. That said, I wanted to try and clear up some of the rumours going around about Vivzie and the show, because I think some of them are absolutely outrageous and need to be addressed.
1. Vivzie hired an abuser onto the show.
Now, I’m not here to burn anyone at the stake, especially since I don’t know anything about Chris Niosi (the alleged abuser), who I believe openly admitted to the allegations? Regardless, this is a moot point. He’s not credited anywhere at the end of the episode. So either he was booted before production wrapped up or he had nothing to do with the show in the first place.
2. Vivzie supports bestiality.
Admittedly I thought this one might be true, since she draws so many anthropomorphic animals. In the very least, I figured she was probably a furry, but I haven't seen any evidence supporting this accusation either. Near as I can tell, this rumour started for two reasons. One, because of her famous Zoophobia comic, which revolves around a therapist named Cameron who gets assigned to work with human-like animals. Ironically, poor Cameron suffers from crippling zoophobia, which makes for some pretty decent comedy. I didn't read the whole comic because, quite frankly, it’s not my cup of tea and I just don’t have the time. But from what I saw there are no examples of bestiality anywhere in its contents.
Two, this message, which blew up all over social media:
Tumblr media
To me, this just proves that people are more interested in virtue signalling than checking to see if their claims are actually true. Everything about this message is 100% false, which I’ll touch on in my next point.
3. Vivzie is a pedophile and she’s drawn child porn.
This is hands down the worst allegation and holy shit, I really wish people would stop using it to defame someone when they don't have any proof. This is a life-ruining accusation and you're disgusting if you believe it based solely on hearsay. This rumour began to spread when Vivzie allegedly shipped the two underage characters in the above photo and drew them NSFW-style. At the time, one character was 19 while the other was 14, and the relationship was a very illegal student-teacher relationship.
This is WRONG! The characters were not 14 and 19, they were actually 18 and 19, the legal age of consent! Additionally, the relationship wasn't student-teacher. One character is a student and the other is Alumni (a student teacher). This one pisses me off the most because it’s obvious the person who sent that message didn’t even bother to conduct any research. They said, “He’s a teacher, she’s a child.” Both characters are MALE!
Since then, Vivzie has apologised for any NSFW art she drew in the past and stated that it's not a reflection of her art today, and I'm inclined to believe her. Almost every artist has drawn NSFW content at some point in their career, and hers wasn't even distasteful. Other than this one example, there is no evidence anywhere that suggests she’s drawn “child porn”. In fact, she’s never even drawn explicit NSFW.
Please stop spreading this rumour. It’s dangerous and completely incorrect.
4. Vivzie said the "N" word!
No, she didn’t. It was a fabricated tweet. That is all.
5. Vivzie is copyright striking every video that criticises her!
No she isn't. YouTube’s DMCA is automatically striking people who are using full clips without permission. Vivzie has gone public several times, telling people exactly how to avoid getting a copy strike from the algorithm, which is something she absolutely does not have to do. At this point, she doesn't owe you anything. In my opinion, she should just sit back and watch these channels burn.
Tumblr media
6. Vivzie copies and traces other artists’ work.
This is another one I’ve seen going around, but I looked into it as thoroughly as I could and failed to find any concrete evidence to support the allegations. As of right now, there are only two examples of Vivzie “copying” or “tracing” other artists’ work, and both of them can be explained. The first is a gif she made with a character from her Zoophobia comic, which looked a lot like the girl from ME!ME!ME!:
Tumblr media
Damn, that’s pretty incriminating. She obviously stole-- oh, wait. This gif was part of a ME!ME!ME! MEP (multi editor’s project) and Vivzie didn’t take full credit, despite the fact that it’s not even a direct trace. It’s supposed to look like the original, which she fully cited. The second example comes from a short dance sequence from her Timber video, which seems to have been inspired by several Disney movies. As Vivzie herself stated, that was an homage to the original animations. Lots of artists and shows do this, including the beloved Stephen Universe series.
Tumblr media
Regardless, this doesn’t count as stealing character designs or plagiarising someone’s work. It’s meant to be respectful, an admiration of other projects. Other than these two instances, however, there is no evidence of her tracing or stealing other people’s art. From what I’ve discovered, all other designs she’s been accused of “stealing” are characters she bought and paid for. They’re quite literally HER characters.
7. Vivzie supports problematic creators.
I’m getting really tired of guilt by association. Vivzie follows and enjoys some controversial figures, but who cares? We can argue all day about whether or not the accusations against them are true, but it ultimately has nothing to do with the show or Vivzie as a person. I do the exact same thing, to be honest-- follow and listen to people on all sides so I can learn, understand, and form my own opinions. The fact that some people think this is bad, to me, is absolutely mesmerising. Vivzie doesn’t control what the people she follows post, and if they do something overly questionable she publicly criticises and denounces it.
From Vivzie:
Tumblr media
Now that that’s been dealt with, I’d like to address some complaints/claims about the actual show.
8. Vaggie is an angry Latina stereotype and a lesbian stereotype. Vivzie is appropriating Hispanic culture and misrepresenting the gay for profit.
First off, I see a lot of people passing around yet more misinformation regarding Vivzie's race. So many people seem to think she's white? Well, I'm here to tell you they're wrong. Very incorrect. Vivzie is in fact Latina, and Vaggie is meant to mirror some of her own personality traits.
Tumblr media
Second, who is Vaggie mad at? Context matters, and if we take a look at the episode, we see that Vaggie is literally only mad at two specific people: Angel Dust and Alastor. Why? Well, for starters, it's her girlfriend's dream to run a rehab hotel for sinners, and Angel Dust nearly demolishes that dream single-handedly. Vaggie has every right to be over-the-top vitriolic. Then there's Alastor, a known sadist, narcissist, and murderer who loves trapping people in his nefarious schemes. He invites himself in, effectively takes over the hotel, and pushes both her and Charlie aside. At one point he even sexually assaults her by slapping her butt during his musical number. So yeah, I think her seething ire is totally justified. Keep in mind, however, that when she's around Charlie she's calm, collected, and happy. I wouldn't call that a stereotype.
Thirdly, the lesbian stereotypes. I keep hearing this argument but I really don't see it. Both Vaggie and Charlie have so much personality and trust for each other. Maybe I'm wrong, but the stereotype I know always totes a more butch, tomboyish woman with a ditsy, innocent, naive woman. Charlie is optimistic, but she isn't stupid. She refuses to shake Alastor’s hand because she knows he’s likely trying to screw her over. She’s also not entirely innocent herself and uses words like “fuck” and “shit”. I also wouldn’t call Vaggie butch or tomboyish. She has a cute, girly presentation, complete with a pink ribbon in her hair, lace stockings, and a dress. She's protective of her girlfriend, as I think we all are with our partners, and there's nothing wrong with that. They're flawed characters, as every character is meant to be. This isn't a problem.
9. The show is racist, sexist, homophobic, transphobic, blah, blah, blah.
I’m amazed this is even an argument. The show is supposed to be a dark comedy that takes place in HELL. You know, the place the worst of the worst end up after they die? What were you expecting? Everyone gets a shot or two fired at them, but that doesn't make them bad characters nor does it make the show itself horrible. Take, for example, Katie Killjoy, the news reporter so many people are up in arms about. She says she doesn’t “touch the gays” because she has “standards”. Well, here’s a newsflash of my own: we’re not supposed to like her! She’s an antagonist. Not to mention ten seconds later Charlie insults her and isn’t the least bit slighted by her pretentious attitude. The characters are strong and don’t take shit from anyone, because to some degree they’re all terrible people who can throw down when it’s called for.
Obviously if you don’t like the show or think it’s offensive, I’m probably not going to change your mind. That’s perfectly fine. You’re entitled to your opinions and you don’t have to watch the show. Just stop lying and stop trying to take it away from everybody else. Stop attacking Vivzie and spreading misinformation without checking the facts. I realise a lot of people probably aren’t trying to be vindictive and only want to do something good, but just remember this: the road to hell is paved with good intentions.
