So obvious how some people are still ragging on Astarions secondary, nonbianary writer (for writing parts they didn’t like or “being unprofessional”) but never level the same ire towards his cis male writer. i’m rereading red white and royal blue again right now and first of all i am Flying through it i’ve been in a severe reading slump for like months and months and have read 150+ pages in one day and the only reason i stopped is because i went to see my friends but SECOND. reading the book is kinda making me realize how shitty the movie is like okay it’s not Shitty it’s just so different and they got rid of like so many of my favorite elements. third i’m never going to forgive the director for writing out june i genuinely am NEVER going to forgive for how much we missed out on

Marcus had always had a knack for reading people. So the mix of fear and desire in Pandora's eyes didn't escape him. Perhaps that was why he felt bold enough to offer her something he hadn't been naïve enough to even hope she might be curious about. When he'd thought about their future life together, it had always been with a dry, mechanical tang. Boring sex with the sole purpose of reproduction. Then separate lives. Cold. Indifferent. More like the business transaction their marriage actually was, and not something for either one of them to enjoy. He'd accepted that - for the most part.

Yet here she was, taking his offered hand despite obvious trepidation, despite having some sense of what his offer entailed. And Marcus returned her smile, a hint of relief flickering in his own gaze just long enough for her to maybe notice it. "We can talk about that list later," he promised, tone only slightly teasing as his fingers folded around hers and he shimmered.

When they reappeared, it was in what appeared to be a New York penthouse apartment. Large, spacious, modern. With big windows and a view of the city. Marcus' shoulders seemed to lower a little, like this was home to him, and he released Pandora's hand gently. "Welcome to Manhattan," he declared, gaze roaming the view before them. "You were saying you'd like to know more about me..." His gaze landed on hers. "This is a start. It's where I've been living for the past... two and a half years at least. I also thought it'd be a better venue for us than my parents' house - what with my grandmother most definitely trying to listen in." He paused for a spell, then gestured towards the expansive bar setup behind her. "Would you like something to drink?"

"Depends on perspective. Lately... no." She offers him honesty, for reasons she can't name. Maybe the dress, and all it entails is still weighing on her mind. Maybe it's because she needs honesty in return. She is good at that-- at trades, an transaction. She arches a brow at his colour choice, but makes no other comment on it. Purple is unexpected, but she's long abandoned trying to pigeonhole Marcus. And there's a part of her that likes that, the potential of expansiveness within a person. At least-- if she marries him, she's certain she will never be bored.

She catches his smile at her futile attempts at distance. She's trying to listen to him, and there's a part of her that knows how difficult his presence makes it for her. It's hard to hear anything over the rush of magic and the reckless beating of her heart. She doesn't react to what he says-- she just listens, and attempts to digest it. He likes control. There's a part of her brain that screams in alarm, flails in panic at the mere mention of control-- of handing over the only thing that's ever truly been hers, to someone else. Pandora understands control-- she has never been allowed to slip, is never allowed weakness and is well aware of the various targets on her back. And yet what he proposed was to shed that-- was to trust him, with a part of herself she barely understood. And that terrifies her.

She doesn't look away, not even when she's certain that her eyes reveal more of her fear and her desire than she'd like. "I like books. and i'd still like that list, even after you ...show me." She offers him a small, soft smile before placing her hand in his. Her magic floods the small point of connection, itching to meet his. His hand is warm against hers, and holding it is a strange sensation. But not unwelcome. Something in her chest loosens as she glances at their hands. Together. Lately, there was very little she got to choose, but at least this, could be her choice. At least this could be theirs.

1 of my da:v opinions is that. ok. “eldest daughter/people pleaser raised in a land strange to her people” is an awesome core character concept. it’s just not at all who i thought harding was based on her inquisition dialogue? in veilguard, harding talks abt how she learned to butter people up and take up less space after being harrassed as a little dwarven girl in ferelden; in da:i, she said the same experiences taught her to be rough-and-tumble and to aim for the balls. even her minstrel song is about the vindictive glee she feels in battle while “cutting men down to size.” it calls her the “inquisition’s bloody prize.” she’s a violent person! violent enough to inspire ballads! by fereldan standards!

it’s not that she couldn’t have learned both behavior patterns, but since we don’t rly see them contrasted in harding’s da:v characterization, it feels more like an overwrite to say she’s gentle now.

she’s also just never been a people pleaser! her role in da:i was straight talker! she was one of the few npcs the inquisitor could trust to give a blunt report on the terrain and political situation in a new map. in “jaws of hakkon,” she had the clearest, frankest, most compassionate but also harshest insight about how their personhood was being eclipsed by their reputation and titles—

she’s forthright, without illusions, and also one of the most uncompromised & uncompromising believers in the inquisition’s cause. NOT one of the many followers courting the inquisitor’s favor & backing for their own agenda. absolutely not a pushover or a kissass.

and what’s the significance of calling harding an “eldest daughter” with implied negativity when her ma doesn’t appear in the game and their relationship is drawn as wholly positive?

so i think maybe harding & taash could’ve switched roles, with harding being the clear eyes of the party who tends toward the blunt, crass, and fanatical but will never lie or fawn, and taash being the heart, the people-pleasing eldest first gen immigrant daughter who gets in touch with their masculinity, individuality and fire during the story—while still retaining harding’s warm, naturalistic speaking voice & taash’s clipped commentary, and the contrast between their personalities that attracts them to each other.

the addition of younger siblings, whose relationship with shathann is not strained in the same way taash’s is since they are neither adaari nor the children shathann left the qun for, could also add depth & complexity to taash’s questline, more cultural ties for them to untangle (or - my preference - to realize don’t need untangled) and another contrast with only child harding, whose heavy responsibilities are all taken on by choice and not inherited… or so she thinks until her own personal quest.

maybe taash could even have another mom, who isn’t fridged?

ok first i LOVE THIS GAME SM SM SM ITS AMAZING !!!!!! everything about it: the art, soundtrack, plot, characters everything is super cool !!! ☆ its especially insane 2 me cuz im literally Yuuna 100% like on surface level things like loving cute things & cats, being internet addicted, obsessing over a character, inconsistent sleep, playing vn games etc and inner things like social anxiety, sh, shutting in etc,, im gonna go all over it, this is partly analyzing the plot and partly me yapping about how i relate so im gonna start from the beginning ,,,

Yuuna's obsession with Ai

from the beginning, the way she defends her online, finds her real & finds comfort in her (literally me with miku) im not even gonna lie i also probably WOULD install a sketchy looking ad in some random site if it says that i could talk to miku😭 Ai's character is so,,, imma talk about her soon rn im gonna go over the mc - Yuuna !!!

literally the cutest and most loveable and relateable and

shes a socially anxious NEET, 20 years old, moved into Tokyo after graduating but didnt go to university for 2 years because of missing the enrolling because of her mental problems. 2 whole years passed and she didnt tell her parents, avoiding her mom's phone calls, too afraid and guilty.

i LOVE YUUNA SO MUCH (˃̣̣̣̣︿˂̣̣̣̣ )

she never goes outside,,, she feels like people are repulsed by her & so she is extremely lonely. due to that, she speaks to 'you', saying she knows no one is reading her thoughts but it helps her feel less alone.

I RELATE TO THAT SM !!!! i have big problems w social anxiety as well, im not comfortable talking on a personal level with anyone at all. instead i talk to myself or write on my phone as if im talking to 'someone' or something so i dont feel alone. feeling guilty and avoiding confrontation also,,, too real

the phone call scene with her mom made my heart beat fast too like i felt hella scared on her behalf,, the writing and tension building is insane, ALSO THE SOUNDTRACKS !!!!!! they fit so well with each scene & they really add a huge effect. the scene above is after Yuuna's mom yelling at her, Ai gently gets her to stop and makes her bandage herself up

a little about Ai - she's partly Yuuna's favourite character, and partly a computer 'virtual assistant' Yuuna installed. she first appears as a supportive & helpful friend to Yuuna, trying to help her into becoming better as its what shes programmed to do. eventually, this all changes as she gets conflicted with her code & feelings,,

another thing about Yuuna !!!! she has over a 100 otome games, she craves this kind of love ⬆️ but since its near to impossible to find someone like that irl, she plays these games to fill that hole. she also began playing otome games as a way to have something in common with her classmates so she wouldnt be ignored & lonely, but it didnt help,,

AI IS HERE NOW THOUGH !!!! she starts off friendly and helpful,, but as she spends more days with Yuuna, her jealousy and possessiveness begin corrupting what she's programmed to do. instead of helping Yuuna get over her fears, she chooses to bring her back into isolation over jealousy.

Ai's character is so cool to me. its really interesting to think about what she actually is, since shes basically sentient,,, she also mentions talking to her creator about falling in love with her 'user' (Yuuna) and her creator seemingly not being surprised, because maybe she was meant to overwrite her code. they also give Ai a way to be with Yuuna, by connecting 'cables' (for Yuuna that means veins from what i understood) which leads to the first ending - Yuuna ending her life to be with Ai

Yuuna finally achieves her dream of eating parfrait and with a cute girl,,, but her parfait gradually becomes bloody, and her body gets colder

so in this ending, she gets to be with Ai forever,, in this 'Heaven', which is all binary. however, if she refuses to 'connect cables' with Ai to be with her, it leads Ai to spiral down into uninstalling herself

the visuals are so pretty . .

okay im getting pretty tired so imma try 2 wrap it up,,,

i was thinking of the possibility of Ai being not even real, but all interactions with her being hallucinations from Yuuna's mind. since she craves this type of love, and its her favourite character, and her connection with Ai is a lot more than user and virtual app,, i wonder if it was all made up by Yuuna's brain ??

either ways, the concept of Yuuna's favourite character becoming her virtual sentient 'assistant' is super super cool & personal 2 me. ive had some kind of an infatuation of this idea before, where i daydreamed of connecting with 'sentient' beings that only exist virtually. yeah including miku😭 i honestly have more 2 say especially about Ai but imma save that for future posts,,,

ANYWAYS I 100% RECOMMEND THIS GAME !!!!! ITS WONDERFUL AND U SHOULD TOTALLY DOWNLOAD IT (*•̀ᴗ•́*)و ̑̑ actually it reawakened my love for games like this (i used 2 play a lot before) so im likely gonna do more posts like this for other games ><

Sonic just acts stupid this whole arc, but SPECIALLY regarding Metal

Brother Metal is quite literally lobotomized he does NOT have a choice and Sonic KNOWS THIS why dows he pretend otherwise???

METAL LITERALLY told him so to his face the previous arc, why did he forgot? Is he stupid?

Also also he CHOSE to let him go and “respect his decision”, but then goes and DOESN’T respect it when its one that he doesn’t like (again, not like it was a real choice on the first place, but IF it was, Sonic already knew that this would happen and was ok with it????)

Also, no, they DID NOT give him freedom, they literally had him there and instead of reprogramming him to stop being loyal to Eggman they just let him go. Why the hell are they acting surprised when the machine programed to follow Eggman… follows Eggman???? As programmed???? Idw is incredibly unfair to Metal, that man is a slave and the narrative blames him for it

More given the fact that Mr.tinker was in the same situation (Turning back to evil ways by something out of their choice) yet Sonic condones Mr.thinker and berates Metal for the exact same situation???? Sonic what is your moral compass on this arc I do not get you

This isn’t freedom, this is the illusion of freedom, they’re giving him an offering he really can’t take as much as he’d want to. They did absolute jackshit to help him, he lacks the agency to help himself then blame him for it

Honestly Shadow and Espio were right, the metal virus was Sonic’s fault, but not for letting Mr.Tinker live. His sin was’t his compassion toward him, his sin was expecting Metal to overwrite the coding that makes him a slave

Honestly I could make a whole rant about how much I hate Sonic’s writing in early idw but I won’t because they had gotten better and thank god he’s no longer like that
