But yeah currently Earien has 100% of my sympathy. I have no idea why anyone could believe she has any reason to trust her father's convictions, especially in regards to her brother. Elendil has a 100% success rate at alienating his children, sometimes to the extent of driving them to the other side of the continent, and considering his one and only tactic for communicating with them is Shout, I can see why!

Like clearly neither Earien nor Isildur feel comfortable being open with their father about the things they are struggling with, so they became each other's confidante. Earien listens to Isildur when he's struggling with indecision over his place in the world, and it was Isildur Earien went too and who encouraged her when she failed to get into the Builders guild the first time. She didn't even tell Elendil that she tried again! Isildur was the only person in her family who listened to her, and then he went away to war in order to prove himself to his father and he never came back!

Elendil came back though, and predictably never spoke to Earien over their shared grief, never even said Isildur's name to her, and in fact seems far more preoccupied with his VERY newly-reclaimed faith and the Queen who lead them all to war and ruin in the first place. And Earien tried to tell him about the Palantir and her failing faith in the Queen! But by this point, clearly, she knew she wouldn't be listened too, no wonder she felt more comfortable putting her faith in a set of men who valued what she had to say. I mean, say what you want about Kemen, he's clearly nice to Earien isn't he! And Pharazon has accepted her presence with a friendliness her own father does not seem eager to display.

And when she actually tries to help him, when she is the voice in the kings-men's court advocating for less harsh treatment of the faithful and actually manages to save them all from jailtime, when she tries YET AGAIN to have a calm and honest conversation with her father, when she expresses her concern for him!! WHAT is her reward? More shouting! And a veiled threat extremely reminiscent of how her actual mother died. Imagine if Elendil had been able to, for a second, not see his own daughter as just some difficult rebellious child who SHOULD be following his every order unquestioningly, and realised he needed to earn her trust and respect. Imagine!!!

oh my god i just. remembered this. sorry. one of the things people do in the saiki k fandom (cough cough specifically tiktok cough cough) is that people call every terusai moment "fanservice.." FANSERVICE..? WHATTTTT ?

and im saying the anime specifically because none of these people read the manga.. there was this one pretty fucking viral tiktok i saw a few months ago where this person was talking about this and saying that the anime "tried to set up teruhashi and saiki as a couple" when it "wasnt like that in the manga" and then proceeded to talk about scenes that WERE in the manga and did NOT get changed for the anime.. mf why are you just LYING. AND WHY ARE THE MASSES BELIEVING YOU. THATS CRAZY.

It's actually absurd how quickly people disregard and belittle everything about a female character the moment they aren't exactly who they want them to be, in this case, the final "prize" of a man.

As if Ochako's narrative is solely about her infatuation, and not also about saving people, heroes and villains, and also about love. Some assholes just can't have a female character be a whole character without a man. My god.

The things people have said about her, Deku, Bakugo, and even other characters (Hatsume especially), are so absent and dismissive of their character and themes that I'm genuinely so disappointed and disgusted by these people's lack of empathy and rampant misogyny.

The ending is far from perfect, but if this is how you think Ochako's story should end, did you ever really care about her at all?

Deeply Ashamed of the Path Some Chose

Timothy has some of the worst mistranslations I have read out of all Bible translations & it’s infuriating.

Originally there were writings to set up the organization of Christianity as a whole as a network of many church les similar to how the Catholic Church was set up (ex:actual infrastructure & logistical outlines establishing the structure/location/requirements for cardinal, pope, Vatican, etc). It was supposed to be a meritocracy-based system where the leaders of the church were the most well read, well versed, dedicated, & proven members of the community. Their works & sacrifice & their commitment to leading by example were the needed proof for community members to put faith in their leadership when Jesus was physically not present to oversee each location. Once this had been forcefully removed from the teachings before leaving heaven, Jesus was then tasked with how to prepare churches and their leaders for how to run the church while he could not advise each one daily. On Earth, Jesus established Catholicism with many things cut out of the original Bible he had to orally teach & alter. But some of his followers continued to disagree. They broke off & founded new churches. These leaders then asked for his guidance so that they could be different from Catholicism, but still consider themselves Christian. They were warned they walked a very thin line & to EXACTLY translate his word or else.

It’s not only totally wrong, but it’s offensive.

“I do not permit a woman to teach or to exercise authority over a man; rather, she is to remain quiet.”

The original holy writing said something equivocal to:

I do not advocate for man or woman to talk over one another with disrespect in a teaching space. If both cannot abide then they shall both be silent. Irregardless of your town or cultures beliefs, man holds no authority in this space over woman here.

It’s deeply unsettling that members of the church allowed these teachings to thrive. They are sacrilegious & against the teachings of the founding of the religion.
