i think it's funnier if Tim also doesn't know and half the fun for Jason is getting to stare down Tim and make Tim wonder what on earth is going through Jason's head. he'd probably assume it's an intimidation tactic, or Jason thinking about all the ways he wants to kill Tim. it's delightful miscommunication of Tim being wary around Jason, always expecting a fight. and Jason damn well knows it, but he does nothing to correct Tim's assumption. He likes seeing Tim tense and ready to throw hands at a moment's notice. Jason just likes seeing what Tim is capable of, knowing how dangerous the little rich kid is. he wants to see how long he can stare before Tim breaks and asks him what his problem is.

and of course, Bruce, Alfred, and Dick are obvious. Cass is curious but not interfering because she just wants to see where this goes. Bruce is so caught up in the happiness of Jason finally playing nice for once pulling his punches and being willing to listen to Bruce that he's overlooking the obvious tension. Jason hasn't actually hurt Tim yet, so Bruce can't get mad for a little staring. he reminds Tim to just not sink to Jason's level.

when Tim does break and he does call Jason out for it, Jason just makes a lewd comment. just to throw Tim off and see how Tim reacts. it sends Tim sputtering and doubting Jason. he calls Jason's bluff and well. we all know how that ends.

Cool detail I noticed about Tristamp's Vash's shoes/boots (+ the opening/intro animation)

we can clearly see here that the footprints we see before we see the anime's logo is the same sole pattern matching Vash's shoes, right? (I had picked up on this a while back but decided against posting it cause I figured people already picked up on this) It has a pretty unique/distinct look, right? So I was listening to the Trigun OST and was looking at this iconic album cover and realized something...

I was like "oh those boots have the same little two divets at the top like Tristamp Vash... wait-" THAT'S THE SAME FUCKING OUTSOLE He even has the weird gray thing on the bottom as well! You can even make out the circle divets in the center of the sole but its kind of hard to see on this album cover. I'M FLABBERGASTED??? Like DAMN I knew Orange did their homework but this is fucking crazy to me 😭

Always delighting in the sheer amount of smooth and very natural exposition we get in those early scenes, actually.

The "What rank is that dog?" scene introduces us to several ranks and rules onboard - who everyone is, where they can and can't go, etc.

We get further context on JCR, too, when they speak of naming the new strait for him. We've seen him already, have heard him addressed by name, and know that he's connected to the Expedition somehow, but mentioning him again cements that connection even further.

There's also a nod to Sir John's previous Arctic experience mentioned early on by Strong at dinner.

SO much information packed in about who these people are, where they are, and how they got there.

You wanna know how Kepler got to be the way he is? You wanna know how he learned to be always on his feet, always planning ahead? In both of these examples he casts himself (via the human race or as the remaining SI-5) as the bullied. The underdog. Kepler’s no stranger to the schoolyard. He knows exactly which tactics will keep him (and his friends, his team) safe in the schoolyard. How do I keep the bullies away through blunt force? When that doesn’t work, how do I outsmart them?

If you’ve ever been bullied you know you constantly have to be on your guard. Keeping your eyes peeled for threats, always planning ahead to keep yourself safe. You might learn that it’s easier to just blend in. To sand down or erase any part of yourself that attracts attention, that isn’t palatable to the bullies. You learn how to adapt. How to survive. And maybe you get really, really good at it.

honestly a lot of complaints I see about OCs in fanfiction aren't actually complaints about OCs in Fanfiction(tm). Like that isn't the root problem. "They eclipse the main character and the writer makes problems too easily solved", "They're always flat or underdeveloped", "Writers who ship OCs x canon character write the canon character ooc" "The writer disregards in-world rules and the story doesn't make sense (i.e. they lose the suspension of disbelief" "The OC always suddenly predicts plot twists" "The OC is never compelling or likeable" like girl that's not a problem unique to OCs specifically. It's just bad writing.

I've been like... near exclusively an OC artist for like 8 years at this point so every time i post fanart and ESPECIALLY ship art i feel like i have to fight every screaming cell in my body to post it because i feel like... RUDE? for projecting my own thoughts onto another creator's characters LMAO... so it's reassuring to know people actually like what i'm contributing!!

as for sifloop as a ship. i really should draw more isiloops because . rotates all three of them in my mind. but yeah. I think the thing I like most about the dynamic really is the like... way Siffrin and Loop canonically aggress each other despite an extremely persistent undercurrent of caring about the other not suffering.

Like. the back and forth between Loop constantly talking past/through Siffrin to really painfully insult the pair of them, and things like the [Forgetting Mirabelle's Name] event being so astoundingly gentle. just as a general example. (RNG event that only triggers after certain actions so you may need to look it up)

THEN adding the element of throwing them in postcanon with neither of them wanting to upset the party and thus having to keep a lid on it... I like the potential dynamics of such a painful and conflicted relationship having to be almost hidden and downplayed so as to try and not worry anyone, and thus becoming softer and introspective while still keeping a bunch of the more insidiously toxic behaviour.

Both of them acting with genuine best intentions in mind but still understanding each other to have way *way* more sadness and anger and guilt than they let on, and thus being able to clock it. Both for good and ill. Neither of them enjoy confrontation, but it's almost unavoidable when they KNOW the other knows what they're probably thinking.

. but yeah i just think they're neat! also a bunch of stuff related to asexuality but . shh
