Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (the main fighting force of the group that captured Aleppo and now advances on Hama) is a U.S. designated terrorist organization that splintered off from Al-Qaeda in 2017.

They are called “the Organization for the Liberation of the Levant,” but do not mistake them for freedom fighters.

The Assad regime is gone. Sadynaya Prison is liberated, and the depth of the Assad family’s depravity is becoming clear.

While the West seems to hold out hope that the transition will lead to something better for the Syrian people, the saying in the Middle East goes, “The enemy of my enemy can also be my enemy.”

The incoming warlords are the HTS — a Sunni, ISIS-adjacent, Taliban-adjacent, Turkish armed and funded organization on the US and UK terrorist lists. If you Google them, the stories would be accompanied by graphic, hideous videos of revenge killings. I am choosing not to link to the horrific murders here, but you can find them online, and just know that they are a tiny fraction of what’s out there.

HTS leaders and militants said, upon entering Damascus, “This is the heart of the Abode of Islam. This is Damascus, the [land of] Umar ibn Abd al-Aziz, the land of Islam … This is the camp of the Muslims. From here we are coming to Jerusalem. Be patient, oh people of Gaza. Say Allah Akbar!”

One fighter added: “Just like that, Allah willing, we will enter the Al-Aqsa Mosque, the Prophet’s Mosque [in Medina], and the Kaaba. We will enter these [mosques], Allah willing.”

In this context, Israel has offered the world a gift, decimating the Russian-Iranian arsenal Assad left behind before HTS can get its hands on it.

The first IDF strikes were on Syrian chemical weapons depots and “research facilities.”  (You know, the ones President Obama declared 96 percent destroyed in 2014.) Then, according to @IDF on X:

Israeli Navy missile ships struck the Al-Bayda and Latakia ports, where 15 Syrian naval vessels were docked. They took out dozens of sea-to-sea missiles with ranges of 80–190 km. Each missile carried significant explosive payloads posing threats to civilian and military maritime vessels in the area.

The Air Force conducted more than 350 strikes on targets including anti-aircraft batteries, Syrian Air Force airfields, and dozens of weapons production sites, neutralizing Scud missiles, cruise missiles, surface-to-sea, surface-to-air and surface-to-surface missiles, UAVs, fighter jets, attack helicopters, radars, tanks, hangars, and more.

The IDF conducted air strikes on 130 ground assets in Syria, including weapons depots, military structures, launchers, and firing positions.

No civilians or homes — or anything besides destructive weapons — were targeted.

Last month I made a post about how I believed the "left" would turn on Muslims the nano second people stopped caring about the Palestinian people and I was wrong, it happened when the Syrian people rid themselves of a brutal dictator.

The "left" is so fucking infuriating like they look at Gaza and rightfully say "this is awful and needs to stop" but then looks at Syria and goes "well Assad likes the Palestinians so this is bad" like WHAT???.

Assad and his family murdered thousands of Syrian Palestinians and gassed their own people, like aren't we supposed to support people in taking back their own freedom. What happened to the leftist supporting Rojava and a Syria free from Assad, where did they go cause we need those people back.

And then the critzeism of HTS, SNA and surprisingly the SDF once people realized that the U.S backed them, like obviously trusting a former Al-Qaeda guy is difficult for most and impossible for others alongside a Turkish backed group which is a state hellbent on the genocide of the Kurdish people.

These people aren't saying that they don't trust them their just calling them all rebels (at times including the Kurds) ISIS, this whole time as just reminded me when Russian invaded into Ukraine and these same "leftists" started going full Russian and viewing them as some anti imperialist force and it's truly just obvious to me that these people aren't even on the left in any sort of way but are just opportunists who view anything america or it's allies to bad and everything else as good.

Hey so, if you don't know. Assad is a fascist fuck head. However I probably don't need to tell people here that a US/Isreal/Turkey backed coup is not a good thing either. Yeah, that's right, this whole thing in Syria is a fucking mess. Honestly it should of tipped people off that it happened RIGHT when Israel signed their phony ceasefire agreement with Lebanon.

Those actors are not "rebel fighters" or "freedom fighters" or whatever. They are fucking mercenaries and it's a fucking US back coup. Shits bad yall. Vladimir Putin backed Syria's bloodthirsty dictator Bashar al-Assad for almost the entire quarter century he has ruled Russia. Putin placed Russian bases in Syria and used his military there against civilian populations.

Now that al-Assad has fled to Moscow and the Russia bases in Syria are emptying, Ukraine sees an opening.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha paid a visit to Damascus for talks with Syria's new leader. Ukraine, a major agricultural power, has already sent hundreds of tons of food to Syria since the fall of al-Assad.

Syria’s de facto ruler Ahmed al-Sharaa held talks on Monday with a senior Ukrainian delegation led by Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha, the Syrian state news agency (SANA) reported, as Kyiv moves to build ties with the new leadership in Damascus. SANA provided no immediate details about their talks, held in Damascus, but Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said last Friday his country had sent its first batch of food aid to Syria, which is traditionally a close ally of Russia. Zelensky said that 500 metric tonnes of wheat flour were already on their way to Syria as part of Kyiv’s humanitarian “Grain from Ukraine” initiative in cooperation with the United Nations World Food Programme. Ukraine, a global producer and exporter of grain and oilseeds, has said it wants to restore relations with Syria following the overthrow of President Bashar al-Assad and his flight into exile in Russia. [ ... ] The ousting of Assad by al-Sharaa’s Islamist group, Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), has thrown the future of Russia’s military bases in Syria – the Hmeimim airbase in Latakia and the Tartous naval facility – into question.

now that assad's regime fell, its more obvious than ever, the "rebels" aren't here to free syria, they're here to switch from one anti west dictatorship, to another pro west dictatorship

the SNA territories are under turkish occupation, they are turkish proxies, they work as if they're part of the turkish army. they took part in the past and now again leading violent attacks, ethnic cleansing, and genocide against the kurdish people.

the HTS are ex al qaeda jihadists, they are loyal to al qaeda and their ideologies, they have committed many war crimes and crimes against humanity. they work closely with the SNA and SFA. they also threatened palestine and palestinian resistance forces.

the SFA are us proxies, they are under us occupation in oil rich territories, they allowed israel to use syrian airspace to attack Iran, they love the zionists.

israel claimed responsibility for assad's death, they invaded the southern operation room, and attempt to occupy more land in their goals of greater israel, they(with permission and collaboration of the new "temporary" syrian government) started an arial bombing campaign attacking and destroying a huge amount of ballistic missile and other explosive weapon stockpiles.

the new syrian government is talking with the zionist regime about making an embassy in both jerusalem and damascus.

this is a western coup, switching one regime with another.

if you stand for human rights and a free syria, you need to stand for rojava and the kurdish led resistance.
