I can’t stop thinking about the discussion James and Regulus must have had when Harry was sorted into Gryffindor. James would smirk at Regulus for a looooong time.
But oh how sweet Regulus comeback was when Harry was chosen as seeker for the quidditch team.

I am perhaps extreme on this, but I don’t think there’s a good excuse to stay in HP fandom, unless one does agree with Rowling's infamous tweets of recent years. Separating art from artist is debatably all right when the artist is dead and no longer collecting royalties, but when the artist is still on Twitter bragging about her royalties, and there’s so much queer-friendly fantasy that could be talked up instead…yep, nope, trans/genderqueer/NB allies should jump ship.
I admit I look askance now at HP cosplayers and anyone still putting their Hogwarts house in their social media bio. I know, I know, a fandom that meant so much to a person for a phase of their life is going to claim a special place in their memories. But you wouldn’t (I hope) continue celebrating the birthday of a toxic ex-friend because you liked them two decades ago, so why stay with the fandom, when by so doing you’re keeping Rowling culturally relevant? We can support the innocent actors from the HP movies by supporting the work they’ve done since the series—I’m sure they’d rather have more focus on those newer projects anyway.
I practice what I preach: I could be continuing to lure in potential readers with my HP parodies, but instead I have taken them all down, all the places I can still reach, because I don’t want to give her any airtime, even obliquely like that.
I think if y'all knew how very, very little the vast majority of us writers make, and how hard we try to reach readers, and how much we'd appreciate a smidgen of success, and how hard some of us are trying to help and protect our fellow queer folks...you would better understand why this is a big deal, to someone who is also a writer of urban fantasy. I’ll stop there. Apparently I could go on and on about this.

the hogwarts legacy conversation really highlights something that i think usually stays hidden under the polite facade of liberalism. in the past days, weeks, months, it has become increasingly more apparent that there are SHOCKINGLY few trans allies in spaces which pride themselves on inclusivity and acceptance. as liberal people whose allyship so far has been limited to offering pronouns in their bio and maybe putting an infographic on their insta story once in a while are pressed to make choices to actively support trans people, it becomes increasingly clear that what they offered was never allyship at all. it becomes increasingly clear that their 'allyship' was contingent on all trans people being nice and unobtrusive and separate from other issues. people are dropping their illusions of supporting trans people shockingly quickly when confronted with the choice to actively harm people or not play a video game. as pat loller described it, they are presented with a trolley problem with trans people on one side and jk rowling/the (already paid) game devs on the other. one side will not be damaged. the train will take them on to their next destination, in fact, with very little fanfare. the train will crush the trans people. you have to actively pull the lever to crush the trans people. so-called allies are actively pulling the lever and then getting upset when trans people get upset about being DIRECTLY HARMED. how dare we speak up about the issues we face. how dare we be upset about the direct disregard and harm that people who claimed to support us are now foisting upon us. how dare we be messy about that. we are being actively legislated out of existence, and people who said they were our allies are abandoning us in droves for their much larger problem of... not being able to play a game. it's honestly fucking comedic. your allyship means nothing if it comes with conditions. your allyship means nothing if you are not willing to take action for the sake of your allies. your allyship means nothing if you are not willing to LITERALLY SIT STILL AND NOT DO A SINGLE ACTION for the sake of your allies. the trans community asks people NOT TO PLAY THE GAME. and people look us in the eyes and tell us that a few hours of antisemitic gameplay is worth more than our lives. fine. whatever. we see how it is. glad that they're finally being honest, at least. if you play hogwarts legacy or engage with harry potter i hope you die.

I will never understand how people will agknowledge just how jk rowling is as a human being, and still like Harry potter. You can't fucking "separate the art from the artist" when the 'art' is filled with antisemitism, racism transphobia and more! You can't even think about doing that when the 'artist' herself is a fucking HOLOCAUST DENIER.
(Also it's even more pathetic considering jk rowling is actually a shit writer. Like let's be honest, everything people love about Harry potter is from the movies. Every bit of personality Harry had was from his actors portrayal of him)
These people don't care that they're clinging onto the mediocre work of a holocaust denier that wishes death to trans people because they're too wrapped up in nostalgia or whatever. It's pathetic and honestly disgusting.
And it speaks volumes how pretty much all the people I see behaving this was are white

Ally: that made me so mad it burst my stitches
Brennan: oh no!!! Are you okay?
Ally: I'll be *fine*. They're mostly healed. But the ones that aren't are in trouble.

Maybe we've lived a thousand lives before this one and in each of them we've found each other... I know I've spent each life before this one searching for you. Not someone like you but you, for your soul and mine must always come together.

i’m trying to catch up with as much dimension 20 as i can before fantasy high junior year, i’m currently on a starstruck odyssey, and can i just say: there is truly no greater example of ally beardsley’s dnd progress than the parallel of ally as kristen applebees willingly taking 36 points of damage, bringing kristen down to 3 hit points as kristen plummets multiple stories due to a failed attempt to use a ribbon dance as a way to fly down 10 stories, and ally as margaret encino willingly taking 11 points of damage, bringing margaret down to 3 hit points so margaret can fall 30 feet from a camera nest, walk up to a giant corn guy, and say “you suck” as all the intrepid heroes look on assuming this to be usual beardsley tomfoolery, only for margaret to walk away & trigger an attack of opportunity which gives murph as barry a chance to push this guy off a ledge & possibly win them the entire encounter & over 1 million credits. INSANE. ally beardsley i’m obsessed with your mind
#ally beardsley#fantasy high#kristen applebees#a starstruck odyssey#margaret encino#what is true joy if not ally beardsley saying ‘call to the guards’ & brennan shouting ‘NOOOOO’#just so funny god#ESPECIALLY because literally one minute earlier brennan was for real trying to goad beardsley into falling from the nest like#‘so did you get some temp kublacaine hp’ thinking he was using beardsley’s insatiable chaos in his favor LITTLE DID HE KNOW#‘statistically you would stay up’ THEY PLAYED HIM LIKE A FUCKING FIDDLE#OH THE HUBRIS#admittedly i haven’t watched nvaf yet but kristen pete margaret the beardsley big 3 to me#also this is unimportant but:#for the sake of my pride i do wanna clarify i was catching up w/ d20 before the fhjy announcement but it has sped up the process a shit ton#i need to understand all the inevitable references#& yea could i watch just the ih campaigns & be fine? probably. but do i emotionally need to watch things chronologically? YES#just have *checks notes* 7 campaigns to watch beforehand not including my planned fh&fhsy rewatch :)#also i literally took a little break from the episode to type this but aso has been INSANE so far especially these past 2 eps!#i’d heard reference of operation slippery puppet but had no idea what it was so i was like ‘omg’ when siobhan mentioned it and THEN#just so insane emily axford my beloved the scheming goes crazy#also also final thing sorry for ranting in the tags but GOD murph has been rollinh so fucking well in this fight BIG BARRY SYX I LOVE YOU#intrepid heroes i love you forever thank you for introducing me to the wonderful world of dropout & of dnd actualplay#okay anyways back to the battle of the brands pt. 2 <3

Probably minor retcon: D321 now has a prosthetic for his right hand!
... Because as cool and strong wielding a 2-handed weapon with one 1 hand sounds, I cannot imagine having to do that ALL the time. Of course using legs could help, but with someone like Luminescence around... They'd probably rather help him regain all four limbs.

Ever since I learned the J.K. Rowling (the woman who wrote Harry Potter) was transphobic, it got me thinking about the characters in the books and if they would agree with her on trans people not being valid (for clarification I do NOT support J.K. Rowling. I am a trans male myself). So here's my opinion on whether certain Harry Potter characters would be transphobic or not! (student edition, part one) HCs under cut:
Harry Potter: Wouldn't know what they are, or knew very little about them, but would be accepting once learned. Might think it's a bit odd at first, just because of the Dursleys, but knowing he'd want to be anything but like the Dursleys, and therefore actually learning about trans people.
Ron Weasley: Wouldn't really care, but he would always forget new names and pronouns. He'd eventually get the hang of it, though, withen 1-2 months. He'd also occasionally make an offensive joke towards trans people, but be quickly corrected by Hermione.
Hermione Granger: A complete ally. She'd have learned much of the history about trans people and issues, reading up on them anytime she was wondering something. She'd also have new names and pronouns down withen a week, and apologize quickly if she ever made any mistakes.
Draco Malfoy: He wouldn't actually know clearly what being transgender is, and he doesn't care to learn. Wouldn't be accepting but he also has other things to worry about (like hating on muggles and muggleborns). No effort to learn new names and pronouns, but after the first school year of you coming out, he'd use them without realizing because of getting used to you being referred to as your new name and pronouns by everyone else.
Pansy Parkinson: If you weren't her friend, then she'd make fun of you for it, despite deep down not really caring, just out of spite. If you were her friend, she'd learn new names and pronouns, but wouldn't be excessively supportive.
Neville Longbottom: Transboy himself. When learning someone else is trans, he'd be immediately supportive. Takes him a couple weeks to remember new names and pronouns, but trust me, he's trying. Would correct others if you were all friends, but wouldn't find the courage to correct others it was a stranger or enemy getting new names or pronouns wrong.
Luna Lovegood: Transgirl herself. Makes an effort to respect your boundaries, like if you tell her that you want everyone to know, she'll help you come out or even tell others for you. But if you want it to stay secret, she won't ever let loose a hint. Has the magical power of remembering new names and pronouns the second you come out. Corrects everyone you've told if they get your new name and pronouns wrong.
Fred & George Weasley: Accepting and supportive. Takes a couple weeks to remember new name and pronouns, but once they got it, they got it. Will tease you about it, but won't say anything outright transphobic.
Cedric Diggory: Accepting, won't really care but will always be a safe person to come out as trans too. Really good at keeping it secret (unless you're completely out about it) and will remember new names and pronouns withen a week or so.
