I've been told repeatedly to stop over-defending myself, to not litigate everything I do because it makes me look more guilty. And it is mindblowingly frustrating because they have no understanding that for trans women that is the ONLY option. If we leave our actions up to interpretation, it guarantees that it'll be interpreted as malice, as sexual deviance, and with as poor faith as possible. If I and other trans women let you guess to our motivations there's a good chance we end up with a black spot that has us excommunicated from that social group, because TME are more than willing to pass around 'warnings' about the strange and deviant tranny. They do it for their own safety of course, to ensure everyone is on the same page, and suddenly the trans woman who was surrounded by friends is now left feeling cold and alone. And she either realises and leaves, or is made to feel like a leper in the group.

But the thing TMEs don't get is how little justification it takes. For me it was one post with an opinion one friend of a friend didn't agree with. She brought a jury of my friends to a public trial and then after I defended myself, they blamed me for not working to bridge the gap after an ad hominem attack.

Every trans woman I have ever met has had this happen to them, we all have a story of one dumb joke, one awkward interaction. Some miscommunication about the name of a pillow because the other person automatically assumed the worst of them, and they're gone. Iced out and left to die alone. Is it any wonder we hide amongst ourselves

not that i believe chappell roan is the spokesperson for palestine or leftist politics around voting/election year, but using her recent words being twisted in bad faith is prolly the best example i have about liberals' cognitive dissonance about genocide and their inability to not take other people's (specifically so called celebrities') decisions/thoughts personally.

anyway. really didn't enjoy d'angelo wallace's recent video about her but this one really ties up all the loose ends he refused to acknowledge (explicitly his refusal to talk openly about palestine and why Chappell is actually pro palestine)

but anyway, Dr. Devon Price has also spoken about this phenomenon on his substack/instagram and I recommend checking his page out. some of y'all project your morals onto people you absolutely don't know and have no right to know as intimately as you think you should, and it's fucking weird. the cognitive dissonance lies in the reality of our power: there is no power for us in democracy. if there was, perhaps world leader's would have stopped the genocide in Palestine considering an overwhelming majority of the world's citizens are against so called Israel committing it. But the truth is, we have very little power democratically, and I don't want any liberal to convince me otherwise. Do we have power in other ways? Yes, we so fucking do. But liberals keep trying to convince us our power ONLY lies in voting, and I refuse to conform my reality to that.

chappell roan was right, and some of you care too much about whether or not people will cast their vote in a month. Maybe listen to the people that chappell clearly listened to (marginalized, BIPOC, Palestinian, Arab, Jewish, etc) and you'll understand WHY people are so conflicted about voting instead of shaming them into voting.

why are you promoting AI replacement of creative people instead of working towards UBI? Until we have UBI, supporting generative AI in the creative field is no different to supporting supermarkets laying off all their till staff to turn to self-check out, or supporting factories who shut down and move overseas to exploit workers in countries with fewer human rights legislations?

Yes, in a perfect world, everyone would receive UBI. Therefore, people across the globe couldn't be exploited by corporations, and artists could create for the joy of it, in whatever way we desire - including with AI!

But we do not live in that perfect world.

Do you seriously expect this move towards generative AI to encourage people to support UBI, as opposed to people being forced into jobs they hate to make ends meet or no longer being able to support themselves financially?

Especially all the disabled people who make a living creating art and writing/editing, because that is, in fact, a career that is often far more available to disabled folks than a regular 9-5 or a retail job where you're expected to be on your feet all day (miss my disabled ass with the 'anti-AI = ableism' stance lmao).

This is not going to create your army of revolutionaries. This is just going to result in more independent creators being crushed under the boot heel of capitalism, as anyone who would've hired them flocks instead to the free alternative, and they're forced back into an incredibly exploitative labour market.

I agree that generative AI by itself is just a tool and is not inherently a problem.

But it is being abused, in ways that hurt creators.
