tfone au where OP is created as the last of the primes but way after them, a sparkling born at what were thought to be the last days of the war against the quintessons, the beginning of a new generation of peace after eons of war. a child meant to be loved and raised knowing nothing of war nor sacrifice.

he's kept mostly out of the spotlight by his siblings, who don't wish to expose him to everyone's optics so young, and want to wait until the war is done and over to properly introduce him to their people.

except of course the primes are betrayed and murdered by sentinel, the war is lost and everyone who knows and cared for the truth is either banished or outright killed in order to suppress it.

and the high guard, the ones the primes trusted the most, the ones that were supposed to protect them, the ones who failed in their most important duty, have to make a choice. to take the last prime, their last hope, with them to the surface, a hostile environment where there's little to no supplies and where they'll be hunted down by both sentinel and the quintessons as the biggest threat to their regimen.

or hide him in plain sight. place him where sentinel won't think to look for him. one more sparkling among many. and hope it will be enough to keep him alive. pray to primus that he'll protect his last child long enough for them to come back for him when it's safer (even if most of them have already lost their faith on him when he allowed the rest of his children to be massacred like that)

they almost lose their resolve when they realize they will have to take the little one's cog away in order to make him blend in with the rest of the newborns (and oh do they burn with murderous intent when they see what sentinel has done to their people but it's not the time yet-) but in the end they decide an impaired little prime is better than a dead one.

and so in the chaos of thirteen dead primes and a sudden energon crisis, a little sparkling who very few mechs really knew about and even fewer had seen completely vanishes. and in the depths of iacon a mech in charge of a new batch of newborns scratches their helm in confusion as they realize they must have miscounted the first time.

optimus prime is quietly erased from any official records by sentinel, written off as dead when they find a sparkling's frame mangled beyond recognition after an attack on the base of those rebels that insist on being a thorn on his side. killing the sparkling hadn't been precisely in his plans, he probably could've found some use for it after all, but he's not particularly upset about it either.

and orion pax grows up with an ache on his spark that tells him he's missing something far more important than a t-cog and dreams of gentle and loving hands, cradling him against the frames of mechs he cannot recall the faces of.

you know, the stuff I went out and did while sick, when I was a Millennial child/teenager, always astounds me to look back on

and I'm not talking like "oh I'm mostly over this little bug so I'm going back to work with a mask on." no. I'm talking full-bore Invalid Hours, just trying to go about my normal life

I'm supposed to be helping facilitate a HISTORICAL BALL tonight. Something I ADORE doing and DESPERATELY WANT TO DO. and I'm probably going to call out because I have a minor cold

flashback to ten-year-old me who lied to my mother about feeling well enough to do paint-your-own-pottery with my friend Jenna when in fact I 100% had a fever, I didn't have the energy to paint most of my Fairy Sitting On The Moon statuette, and I threw up in the bathroom of the artsy shopping arcade halfway through

(she would not have let me do that if I hadn't lied, to be clear, and when I threw up there was an immediate "okay we're done; sorry Mrs. Jenna's Mom that my child probably gave your child malaria or whatever")

and while that level was not broadly encouraged there was very much a culture of like...give your kid Tylenol and send them to school anyway. especially in the south. my mom was considered overly cautious for keeping me out of school until I was fever-free. now, you could say this is a reflection of capitalism's requiring two incomes to support a child, and in many settings that's very true! however. this was among stay-at-home moms in a fairly wealthy county

Au in which garmadon raised lloyd to be his right hand/general 1

Lloyd would have been so much more of a threat to the ninjas in season 1 if garmadon hadn't immediately gotten banished to the underworld (after lloyd was born). He could've taught him the power of destruction much earlier and lloyd would have had much more of an attachment to garm (therefore harder to win over as the green ninja)

Some headcanons for this au:

💜Lloyd still freed the snakes but not because he wanted to scare the ninjas and be respected but more so that they help him release garmadon from the underworld (after the skeletons failed)

💜instead of joining the ninjas with basically no resistance, he joined them much much later after garmadon met the overlord and started to get manipulated by him (which lloyd felt strongly discomforted by because he worried about his dad)

💜yea season 2 would have played a lot more different

💜realising he is the green ninja would also hit him much worse than canon already did

💜and he would have a lot more difficulties tapping and using the green element because he instinctively uses destruction whenever faced with trouble

💜kai also wouldn't have been able to accept lloyd as the green ninja right away (even after being presented with the truth) because he and the ninjas still kinda view him as an antagonist (especially because lloyd doesn't want to accept that role either)

💜but he eventually does, realising he has to in order to save his dad from the overlord

💜 strategy meetings would have gone like this: "but how can we trust that the villain will appear here, lloyd?" "if there's someone that knows how a villain thinks, it's me"

The village priest, Vesuri, is trying his best to persuade the villagers to start farming potato, a high-yielding and nourishing crop, but people are reluctant to give up their turnips (one of Finland's most important staple foods up until 1800's when potato finally took over). Love how in the beginning nearly all of them got angry (especially Parker) at Nate every time he gave up the money to make the con bigger. And then as the show progresses they either care less or (Parker) learns to trust a little more because she knows Nate will make sure the payoff is bigger in the end (money or emotional wise!).
