Transformers Excerpts: Hairy Situation

Optimus: *watches Hotrod comb his long bright red rocker hair with care while putting products on it* Son, you do realize you wear a helmet most of the time. You very rarely even have a ponytail or braid out. Hotrod: *shrugs* No one ever sees your tattoo, dad, but you still enjoy having it. Optimus: *instinctively covers his bumper blushing making Elita-One giggle* It's not the same! Ahem! Besides, having hair that long on a Transformer is just... strange. We're robotic organisms. Growing hair is an organic thing to do no offense to them. Hotrod: You like it when mom grows out her hair. Optimus: S-She's a femme, Hotrod. You're a MECH. Hotrod: A lot of mechs of my generation have hair, dad. What's the big deal? Optimus: Sigh, it's a distraction. You have such a handsome faceplate, but all this hair covers it up *takes a lock shaking his head* and it's so expensive to maintain. How many products in there are for your damn hair alone? Hotrod:... Dad, it costs me less to buy products for my hair every three months than it does to buy your snacks alone every week. Optimus: *turns as red as his chest armor* T-That's different! It's groceries! Elita-One: Optimus, let him be. We all did things we were young and at the end of the day, it's just hair. Optimus: I know, Elita, but... he's the future prime. He's setting the example for the next generation of Autobots and despite what people say, presentation matters. With his hair all long and obvious like that... he looks ridiculous! Hotrod: Pantene doesn't thinkso. Optimus: Who's Pantene? Elita-One: Pantene isn't a who, dear. It's a company for hair products. Optimus: What?! Hotrod: Yeah. The company loves my hair and wants me to be in a photoshoot to make an ad for its new line made for Transformers. In fact, I'm on my way to it now. Optimus: WHAT?!! No! Absolutely n-*Elita puts a finger to his lips* Elita-One: Then I hope it all goes well. Hotrod: Thanks, mom *gives her a kiss* Catch you later! *goes out and transforms driving away* Optimus:... Elita, are you actually encouraging this?! Elita-One: Optimus, it's not like they're asking him to pose naked for the cover of a Playbot magazine. Optimus: B-But he's setting a bad example! Elita-One: *crosses her arms* Optimus, are you setting a bad example every time you eat a burger with fries? And with a milkshake? Optimus: No! I'm just... just... eating! Elita-One: How about when you played cosmic poker the other day with friends for actual credits. Gambling is technically wrong. Optimus: We had a limit and, and- Elita-One: Or how about when you sneak eat cake, and goodies, and more? Hmm? Optimus:...... *pulls the rim of his helm down blushing so hard his face is lighting up* Elita-One: Optimus, everyone has vices including Primes. And honestly, neither yours nor Hotrod's are the worst. Also, you can't expect anyone not even a Prime to be a perfect role model all the time. You're a person just like everyone else and the only thing people will get from seeing you or Hotrod when you are like that is just that. And in a way, that's a good thing because it makes people less ashamed when they do it. What kind of leader would you be if you couldn't relate to your kind? Optimus:... You're right, my dear. Hotrod has enough weight on his shoulders. I shouldn't demand perfection of him especially when I'm just as guilty of being so imperfect myself. I... I still don't feel right about the hair or this Pantene thing, but... I guess it could be worse. Elita-One: I'm glad. By the way, speaking of appearing in photoshoots, you were also called this morning appear in a photoshoot for a really big company, Optimus. Optimus: Really?! Which one? Goodyear? BMW?... Hugo Boss???

*A few days later at the Iacon, there is a huge digital billboard for everyone to see from Gillette now making products for Transformers with Optimus wearing his helm and stroking his clean shaven face while wearing only a bathrobe towel around his waist...*

Elita-One: *fans herself blushing and giggling* Oh my. Hotrod:... Dad, is this payback? Optimus: What do you mean? I'm not naked in the picture *smirks behind his mask*
