Something that still bothers me about my school life even though it's summer break and this was last year in 7th grade is that I was in high ability class for reading. If you don't know what that is It might also be called Honors or Gifted class but basically you do the work for the next year above you. So if you're a ninth grader you do 10th grade stuff. But anyway.

In order for me to get into HA when I hadn't been in it in 6th grade I had to take a test which makes sense. But a few things went wrong when I took it. The program wasn't uploaded to the testing computers so they had to rush to put it on there. I don't know how they upload it but I swear something had to have gone wrong. The math part of the test was math as you would expect but the reading part had nothing to do with reading at all. It didn't go over paragraph comprehension, reading level, grammar, anything related to reading at all. Instead the test was folding paper.

An example- On the Computer (we didn't have physical paper) it would show a standard piece of paper. Then it would show the paper being folded in different ways to create lines in it. You would have to imagine where the lines were on the paper. That was the reading portion of the exam.

So while I didn't go into 7th grade expecting to be folding paper I took it to mean that I already knew all of the concepts and had all the skills that I would need for 7th grade. I did not.

I had to teach them to myself. And all the rest of the students already knew the concepts that were needed since they had learned them in HA 6th grade. The rest of the students had been in HA for many years prior again 7th grade was my first time.

So we were learning new concepts in 7th grade that required knowledge that I didn't have. Because in normal classes they don't teach them. So I had to teach myself both the old concepts and the new ones that we were actually learning in class. This probably sounds really confusing so here are some examples.

7th grade Ha reading teacher- Today we will be learning the abc concept (new material). Now all of you should know the xyz concept (old material which I never learned) you will need the xyz concept to learn the abc concept.

Rest of the class in 7th grade- Okay (They knew the xyz concept from HA 6th grade so they were prepared for the abc concept)

Me in 7th grade-Okay? (I did not learn the xyz concept since I was not In HA in 6th grade meaning I had to learn xyz and learn the abc concept as well)

Because I had to teach myself xyz I fell behind in learning abc and since we needed abc for the next unit I fell behind in that one as well and that same cycle just continued throughout the whole school year.

Also the reason I believe that the paper text was wrong was because I asked my older sister who has taken the test many times what it was like for her. She had normal math, normal reading, and she also had the paper test but, the paper test was not considered a reading test simply a basic IQ test. So I think in the rush to get the program onto our computers it got messed up and the actual reading questions did not upload and the paper test got labeled as the reading test.

Ha = High Ability (again that is the same thing as Honor or Gifted classes)

Mr. Fenton is a competent teacher. Almost too competent.

He hands out bananas during exam week, hosts a “study habits seminar” each month to coach effective learning strategies, and the third time Tim falls asleep in his class, he even pulls Tim aside to ask if he’s doing okay. With all the late work he accepts and the protein bars he sneaks Tim, he’s every teen vigilante’s dream teacher. He could’ve been Tim’s favorite.

In fact, Mr. Fenton was Tim’s favorite. Up until Tim walks into Mr. Fenton’s chemistry classroom for a forgotten textbook, an hour after the final bell.

On the board where tallied scores for today’s review game had been kept, “THE CHEMISTRY BEHIND DR. CRANE’S FEAR GAS: ANXIOGENICS, NERI’S, & YOU,” is now scrawled. A detailed diagram of the human endocrine system projects in front of a small crowd of adoring and attentive students.

Fenton is wrist-deep in the skull cavity of an anatomical model. A short tug, and out pops the brain.

It’s plastic. It’s fake.

Tim identifies the nearest emergency exit.

Fenton turns to the door, and in the dark classroom with the projector illuminating half his face, his eyes almost seem to flash red. “What’s up, Tim?” he asks. His friendly grin is too big for his face. “I didn’t know you wanted to join the Just Science League!”

Gotham’s a pretty wild place, even for someone who grew up a superhero in a ghost-infested town, so he takes it upon himself to start a club teaching kids how to manage themselves in the event of a crisis. These Gothamites are pretty hardy, but a little extra training never hurt anybody! And he suspects one of his students might be a teen vigilante, like he’d been, back in the day. As a senior super, it's Danny’s duty look out for him! Surely, this is the subtlest and most appropriate way to give the kid pointers.]

listen I expected literally Nothing from the D&D movie okay, like I can't make it clear enough that I expected the most soulless money grab with a good cgi budget imaginable, I went in having already gone through every stage of grief and landed on acceptance and LISTEN

I fucking CRIED during this dumb RPG movie. it wasn't just "not terrible" it was objectively good with a clever plot and compelling characters and sincere emotional beats. this movie loves D&D so fucking much and it NAILS the "a bunch of goobers try to be cool and accidentally discover The Power Of Friendship And Also Great Violence" classic D&D party vibe. their barbarian's last name is fucking Kilgore and my entire family cried in the theater.

I hope they make twelve of these motherfuckers.

class of 2024 law student here. no offense but you know things are bad when i take it to tumblr. law school really does something to your psyche and i hate to say it but despite this whole movement on social media to be more transparent, i don't believe anyone will be completely honest about their experience when their words can be traced back to them. being believable as 100% genuine & honest while being anything less than to followers that cling to every syllable of yours does more damage than good imo.

ill start this page with some honesty that i would label as a 6/10 on the "how embarrassed would i be if someone from my post-grad job were to see this" scale i just made up.

my first semester i felt like the smartest version of myself i had ever been because i got 1 online award from a fake company (seriously what business does this "computer-assisted legal education" company have hosting awards for schools around the country & why are they receiving our grades to begin with) for having the highest grade in my class. mind you, this company/award is not at ALL affiliated with my school, its literally made up. but its something that is made PUBLIC (as in if you knew my name you could google me and this stupid award shows up), and so many schools still acknowledge it to, idk, create further divisions between students that i guess the whole system of making everyones grades 100% based on their finals and curved (not in a good way) doesn't do enough for?

now here i am, having finished my 6th semester & walked the commencement stage a few days ago ugly crying over a grade because i might have just lost my honors status. when in actuality .... ~ kim, there are people that are dying ~ why does any of this matter?? this is what 6 semesters of slowly having your confidence in your own intelligence chipped away at does to a person.

its not over yet though - bar prep starts last week :). actually it starts on may 20th officially, but no ones being honest about the fact that they really started studying the day after their finals ended, if not earlier.

so i've decided to document my experience for you all here. with bar prep & my foray into big law (you know this field was meant for babies because that's what we unsarcastically call a career at a top law firm) on the horizon, & 6 semesters of pure chaos behind me, i have a lot to say!

im not sure who this is going to reach because, again no offense tumblr, but i doubt this site has the reach it once did. maybe this will just end up being a time capsule for myself, which i would love. or maybe this will help 1 person cope, which i would love even more.

valgrace except leo schemes with everyone and their mother to throw jason a bonfire party with close friends and family. they sit snuggled close to each other, curled into one another’s side as everyone shares stories about and first impressions about the son of jupiter.

annabeth mentioned how she threatened him with her dagger at first, piper and their mist filled memories, thalia with baby jason antics that had her hair turn gray at a young age.

after the night ended and they all go their separate ways, leo and jason snuck out somewhere else to share a kiss under the stars.

leo's first impression of jason was how beautiful he really is and seeing him made him believe in love at first sight.
