Irritating customer care calls
Now - a - days its becoming very normal and easy for organization of various fields to do a phone call to people and advertise their product or scheme or plan. Today we are bound to give our phone no at every place we buy products .. We can't even ask them from where they got our number because they will not answer that.. (talking about the places we dont give our phone no directly).. At every shop we purchase something the first thing they ask is give your phone no.. It is generally understood that its for safety purposes or to avoid any fraud .. Is the purpose really fulfilled?? Aren't we still afraid of cyber theft and cyber scam?? And coming to my phone call topic.. Its becoming very easy for companies to hire young age girls and boys, make them sit with a phone and make calls to customers...I really pitty on those boys and girls who cant find a job and do anything with their life and end up working in those call centres whose purpose is to only irritate the citizens.. Big to small every level of organizations are upto this marketing strategy..The salon(brands n general) where we go for our services they also call and advertise again again ... Poor banks and finance agencies to sell a credit card.. Etc
Aapko call karna inka janm sidhha adhikar hai... And many times they also dont stop themselves from showing their frustration if they are not treated well by you... Aise jatayenge jaise aapke upar daya kar rahe hain... Yes if we have given any where a query or searching something on internet we give our phone no and wait for a call, but these unnecessary calls.???.. Yes we can take some calls if we are free or in a mood to hear something ... But not always... In online shopping world also.... Once you shop and then they start to send you flurry of SMSes after the shopping ,delivering all finished also.. I will end my piece with a story recently happened to me.. It goes.... And we while fulfilling the duty of being a supportive wife end up answering all the nonsense... Pata nehi sabke husband kya karte hain lekin mere husband toh aise hi karte hain.. Aur he doesn't even spend time on internet to find where to stop the calls even after my highest level of anger.. This post may help me n persuade my husband to do that help to me...
Before couple of days in the evening I got a call from an unknown number... There was a girl that side and started saying mam I am calling from so and so jewellery shop from janpath, Bhubaneswar... I then asked her 'you have called from that jewellery shop?? Why you have called me?' She replied 'mam there is sale going on in our store.. Come and do purchases' I said 'there is sale going on in your shop so you have called me!! I will talk to you but dear will you please tell me from where you got my phone no?? Because as far as I know I have not given my number anywhere asking that I want to buy jewellery.. If you tell me the source we will never give our no at those places.. '' she then got irked as I have mentioned earlier and told 'my manager gave me the number, if you are not interested you can hang up.. " I said ' if I am not interested u r saying.. You have already called me talking to me, I am giving you my time, now you are saying if I am not interested!! Call your manager I will ask the source from where he got my number .. " She was reluctant.. Then very nicely I told her "being a responsible citizen I asked you this question... Try to understand, I know you are doing your job and in your personal life also you may be facing these problems, so please convey this message to your manager that one madam told me these things.. You are not even the shops where we have given our number not even a national level jewellery chain.. Your advertisements are coming daily on tv.. Seeing those we can go and purchase. why are you calling us personally.. If every jewellery shop, grocery shop, hardware shop start calling on our phone numbers jeena toh duswar ho jayega... please cheer up and understand what I am telling.. Be a responsible citizen.." 😊 Then she hung up.

Some Headcanons I have for the listener characters for Redacted/Castle Audios (for funsies):
Castle - Ranger, Seer, Knight, Sugar, Dewdrop, and Dear/Bud
Redacted - Angel, Babe, Sweetheart, Tank, Lovely, and Honey
Castle:
Ranger:
- Looks like the phrase ‘ladies and gentleman’.
- Owns a pair of docs but stopped wearing them because they hurt their feet.
- Has a vintage Hindustan Contessa car in a beige colour.
- > has one of those fluffy dice decorations because Isiah gave them one for Christmas.
- >> they took it down after getting their memories back.
Seer:
- Has grey-ish blue eyes and when they use their powers they flash a bright white.
- Framed a piece of paper with Beth’s work signature on it and hung it where she pushed them against a wall in their house.
- Likes really big dangling earrings but can’t wear them for long otherwise they give Seer a headache.
- Tristan asked Seer to see into his future but instead of something cool, they saw him tripping over his own untied shoelaces.
Knight:
- Has an ‘I love my lesbian sister’ T-shirt, and Claire has a matching ‘I love my ally brother’. (Can be queer sister, ally sibling, or literally any matching queer shirts - I just thought it was fun).
- Is totally into Evie biting them and liked the thought before she was turned into a vampire.
- Knight never walks in front of Claire when the two are walking together, only beside her or behind her. They’re scared she’ll disappear again.
- Being introduced to people as ‘Knight’ gives them a confidence boost every time.
Dewdrop:
- Would own a pet snake.
- > Would call it something either ridiculous or super serious.
- >> “This is my little boy: Sir Serpent Snake-Sir the third”. Or “That’s Bob.”
- Chloe has a birthmark on her thigh that they love to kiss.
Sugar:
- Had a favourite jacket they were wearing before getting turned with a bunch of pins and patches on it -> but it was covered in blood stains after they were attacked and now they never wear it.
- > Their turning was a full on attack that was very bloody.
- Looks 20 but is like 98
- Is such a Valentine’s Day snob and would either proclaimed it’s a false holiday made to make profit from love, or they’d be 100% into it and go wild with roses and wine. (Basically they’d either be Damien or Huxley when it comes to Valentines).
- Saw Liza when she was a high school student but only has a vague memory of it so they can never place where they’ve seen her from before.
Dear/Bud:
- Has Heterochromia, left eye is blue and the other is brown. Totally doesn’t symbolise the two different characters that they’re involved with. Totally.
- Has GAD and takes medication for it, but prefers to have Rose in their head sometimes to help their overwhelming thoughts.
- Monster energy drink addict (Abby got them into them) it is not good for their anxiety (Rose would much rather they drink tea).
Redacted:
Angel:
- Likes to bake but forgets to set a timer, then forgets there’s something in the oven and has almost ended up burning the house down -> David has banned Angel from using the oven when he’s not around.
- Tried and failed to get their driver’s license five times.
- Has a tattoo sleeve with little Animal Crossing and Minecraft references mixed in there.
- Romanced either Sebastian or Shane in Stardew Valley.
Babe:
- Is an only child but has a younger step-sister they see on holidays.
- Likes to carry Asher around sometimes -> wears light and layered clothing so you wouldn’t assume they have muscles but actually have quite a bit.
- Makes Asher little packed lunches for when he has pack meetings and they’re not going.
- Is dyslexic, and needs glasses, words don’t like to word for Babe.
- Has painted Angels nails on numerous occasions.
Sweetheart:
- To empowered people they have tattoo like white marks on their collarbones and under their eyes (Stealth things (also can choose to show them, so people can’t tell right away)).
- Needs reading glasses.
- Has phased in their sleep and woken up above the blankets somehow?
- When they panic they cloak and uncloak really quickly so it kinda looks like they’re teleporting.
Tank:
- Has a bunch of siblings (Tank is towards the older end of the lot) and was heartbroken when they all moved away and none of them chose to stay with them in Dahlia.
- Easily sunburnt.
- Tried to count Sam’s freckles once without telling him what they were doing and kinda just stared at him while gradually getting closer. Eventually they ended up getting his shirt off to count more of them, and Sam just sat there flustered and confused.
- Has 100% played ‘Save a horse (Ride a cowboy)’ to serenade Sam.
Lovely:
- Their hair has started to turn white from stress.
- A lot of their hair was muddy and bloody after getting captured by Adam, so the morning after they were saved Vincent helped them chop off bits that couldn’t be salvaged.
- Used to think their brown eyes were boring but after they turned they miss their old eyes every time they look in a mirror.
- Is absolutely amazing at board/card games.
- > Somehow always wins Game of Life even through it’s pretty much a game of chance.
- > Got Sam, Vincent and Tank to play Monopoly with them and all three were bankrupt within half an hour.
- > Also dabbles in chess.
Honey:
- Works from home most days and has an office with a ‘No Guy Allowed’ sign on the door.
- For Guy’s birthday one year Honey learnt how to crochet and made an amazing sweater with a bunch of granny squares specific to Guy’s interests. Honey is all embarrassed about it because they know where all the little errors are but Guy loves it to death.
- Has picked up Guy to move him out of their way.
- Also plays Stardew Valley sometimes and is like five years in but hasn’t married anyone.
- > Has high hearts with the Wizard.
Thanks for reading! I’ve got more Redacted/Castle rambles on my blog. ❤️

Thank you to the people who don’t forget me when I’m gone for weeks (and I think there’s more, I noticed @moodandmist tagged me when I was scrolling Tumblr earlier, but I didn't get the notif. It’s this damn “only five tags” issue on Tumblr. So if I’m not mentioning getting your tags, that’s probably why) : @monbons, @rimeswithpurple, @artsyunderstudy, @roomwithanopenfire,
@best--dress, @whatevertheweather,
@noblecorgi, @alexalexinii,  @hushed-chorus, @larkral, @nausikaaa,
@blackberrysummerblog, @cutestkilla,  @thewholelemon, @youarenevertooold.
It’s been a really rough start to the work year, and this was the first weekend in a while I got significant words written. And, as always, I can count to six, but I just don’t care. So here you go, some amount of sentences from each of my current fics :)
From Saving Simon Snow
My wings are slapping gracelessly at the air as I climb. They burn. The air is thin this high, there’s not as much for my wings to catch on, to push me higher. I force them to pump harder. I’ve got to get away or I’ll go off.
But I can’t go off.
The feeling bubbling under my skin is the same, though.
From Snow Fox:
“Why aren’t you blinded by prejudice?” I want to know. Even I had trouble with the concept of two men in love, right at first. How was my mother more accepting than me?
Now my mother’s smile is sad. “Did I tell you I had an older brother, when I was a child in Hindustan?”
Her phrasing is ominous.  ‘Had’ an older brother…”What happened to him?” I ask quietly.
From Cupid’s Shield
I made the decision, while Baz panted into my ear after his second orgasm, that I was done being a passive partner. So when he starts to shift his hips again, I plant my left foot onto the mattress and use that leverage to flip him under me.
He stiffens for a minute, caught unawares. His hands claw at my sides, trying to bring our bodies back together.
He’s going to succeed in a moment. I’ve got no illusions about my ability to win against Baz in a battle of strength. So I have about two seconds to put my plan into motion.
From Stars, Flowers and Children
My breath hitches in my chest as I sob from the pain. I gave up being brave about the second hour after it happened. It’s actually less painful now, but it still throbs, sending stabs of pain that arc through me. My foot has swollen up and turned red, but that’s not the worst of it. I’m going to die, I think.
I’m going to die alone, and Simon will never know, unless he finds my body.
From TikTok Dancer: I’m in a very smutty scene right now, so my new strategy is this: lots of [redacted]s
All of a sudden, this whole scenario strikes me as faintly ridiculous. I bark a laugh into the (hopefully) empty night.
Snow gasps as [redacted]  “Wh—what? What’s fu—funny?” His voice wobbles [redacted].
“Is there,” I grunt, pausing to [redacted]  “Is there,” I repeat, “a reason we’re outside, when I’ve got a lovely, expensive, and very empty hotel room we could be fucking in?”
From The Rat and the River
One moment we’re in the middle of the jungle, and the next, we’re standing in front of the village. Though there’s not much separation between the two. Other than a slim tributary of the Amazon river snaking through the centre of the town, where houses built on stilts are lining the edge, most of the homes have been built right up against the forest. It’s an eclectic mix of huts, with wood walls, but thatched roofs, and bigger, more modern houses, with steeply sloping metal roofs.
We take in all of this in seconds. What takes us longer to notice is the nearly complete absence of noise from the town.
From my Visitor Baz AU (still working on a title)
I’d thought that how it works is, a visitor passes on his message and then passes through the veil, never to return. At least, that’s how it works in every account I’ve ever read on the subject. And I’ve read a lot of accounts–I’m a vampire child of a murdered mother. Few people would have more reason to cross the veil than Natasha Grimm-Pitch. And few children would have more reason to doubt that their own mother would want to visit them.
I’m one of the creatures that killed her, after all.
At least, I was.
Believe it or not, I’ve (willingly!) signed up for two more fics and am deep in the planning stages for them. They’re for CORB and I’m super excited for them! I’ll probably have an excerpt from each next time I manage one of these updates.

According to the exposé by ITV, more than 21,000 Indian, Bangladeshi, and Nepalese workers have died in Saudi Arabia since 2017 working on various aspects of Saudi Vision 2030. And according to The Hindustan Times, reports show that more than 100,000 people have “disappeared” during NEOM’s construction.
Even that first number is an impressive casualty count, are they using corpses as building material?

Sonakshi Sinha thoughts on her one-take shot in Heeramandi’s ‘Tilasmi Bahein’ song:
While the drama revolves around the life of tawaifs (courtesans) living in the red-light district of HeeraMandi in Lahore in pre-independence India, Sonakshi Sinha plays Fareedan, whom she describes as a “slightly negative and villainous character” in an interview with Hindustan Times.
Tumblr media
Among the several promotional materials released in the run-up to the show’s premiere was the music video ‘Tilasmi Bahein’, which drew attention because it was shot in a single take and featured Sonakshi nailing her routines in front of tens of background actors. “I was not prepared at all,” Sonakshi said of filming the song. “He (Bhansali) changes the whole choreography on set!”
“I had rehearsed for something completely different, and we had kept four days aside to shoot that particular song. We went for the shoot on the first day and we shot for a few hours, and I did the choreography, which was planned. Suddenly he got up and was like, ‘I don’t want to do this! I want to shoot the whole song in one take and let us design it right now!’ That’s when it happened so I had no time to prepare. I had to learn the lyrics right there…
Tumblr media
“I don’t know what hit me because I had not done a one-shot song in my entire career and there I was, doing a one-shot song for Sanjay Leela Bhansali. I was feeling the pressure, I won’t lie. But I love performing and when the camera comes on, I become the character. We did four takes but the take that you see is the first take that we did,” she mentioned.
"I don’t know how it happened, that day was just magical. I still can’t believe it and once that first take was over, the entire set broke into a standing ovation, including Sanjay sir. I don’t think I have seen him so happy and ecstatic ever,” the actor added.
HeeraMandi: The Diamond Bazaar is scheduled to release on 1st May 2024. Are y'all looking forward to it?

Today, on what would have been their 58th wedding anniversary (11/10/1966), we remember the timeless love story of #SairaBanu and the legendary #DilipKumar. Though Dilip Sahib is no longer with us, their bond remains eternal.
"This October 11 is the 55th wedding anniversary of my Love and Kohinoor Dilip Sahib and I. I am writing this to especially express gratitude to the multitude of well-wishers, dearest friends and family who have so lovingly and thoughtfully sent us remembrance of this magical day for both of us. Dilip Sahib and I, when time stood still, and the sky was lit with a million happy sparkling stars... our wedding, the beginning of a sharing of a life of ecstatic togetherness... and now, no matter what, we still walk together hand-in-hand, in our thoughts and being until the end of time. Dilip Sahib has been that iconic guiding light not only for me but for all those generations who've stepped forward in their lives exemplified by his gracious presence and personality. Dilip Sahib is forever... Aameen. May Allah always keep him in his love and blessings... Aameen." – Saira Banu (2021)

A 50-year-old American woman was found chained to a tree and left to die in a forest in India, police said.
The woman, identified as Lalita Kayi Kumar, was rescued after a shepherd heard her cries on Saturday evening in Sonurli village, located about 450km from India’s financial capital of Mumbai in the south-western state of Maharashtra.
Police registered a case of attempted murder against Ms Kumar’s former husband based on a note scribbled by her at the hospital.
The authorities ascertained her identity and residential address from photocopies of a US passport and a national identity card recovered from her.
”Based on the note written by the woman at the hospital, a case has been registered against her former husband on charges of attempted murder, act endangering life or personal safety of others and wrongful confinement under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS),” Saurabh Agrawal, superintendent of police of Sindhudurg district, said. BNS is India’s official criminal code.
She was transferred to a hospital in the neighbouring state of Goa, Mr Agrawal told the wire agency Press Trust of India. She is “weak” and “not in a position to give her statement”, he said.
Officials do not yet know how long she was left tied to the tree. “The area where she was found had experienced heavy rain,” Mr Agrawal said.
“We have found that the woman, who appears to have been born in the US, had also resided in Goa for some time. We are trying to find out whom she was in touch with in the past few months,” he added.
Police say she appears not to have eaten for several days. The husband, whose name was not disclosed by officials, allegedly hails from Tamil Nadu. Forest inspector Vikas Padve told The Hindu newspaper that while doctors told the authorities she was doing “fine”, Ms Kumar was “suffering from psychiatric issues.
“She is unable to speak and remains under observation,” Mr Padve said.
“She reportedly left her husband after a quarrel,” a police official was quoted as saying by the outlet.
The victim was believed to be living in India for the past ten years, reported the Hindustan Times, quoting officials from the local police station. The authorities have sent a team of investigators to Tamil Nadu and Goa to trace her relatives.

The day turns into night when you get your dinner and the night turns into the day again when you're woken up by the frantic knocking of the head maid on your door to wake you up for something that clearly seems to very important.
"Gudiya, wake up. Gudiya, Sahib is coming back today, wake up."
You go and open the door with groggy eyes and see the sky is still a darker shade of blue, but that's how life works here. "Sahib is here? Where?"
"Memsahib, we got the letter, Sahib is coming back from Allahbad on an engine." She had pride lighting up her eyes and her voice while talking about her Sahib who was travelling in one of the firsts trains in the whole of Hindustan.
"Please don't call me Memsahib, I'm your Gudiya. I'm still young, I've got a lot to learn to carry a title so heavy. And when will he be arriving?"
"Whatever you want, but I'll call you Memsahib infront of him. He'll be here when the sun will reach our heads, get ready. He wants to meet his bride." Right, his bride. You were his bride, you got married 8 years ago but you came to his home just six months ago. And he wasn't even here.
You go through your daily routine, when the head maid comes rushing in with your lehnga, not your wedding lehnga but something a little more celebratory than what you wear everyday.
She says, "Now that Sahib is here, he'll take great care of you. Like he does for us. But you need to take care of him too. Start with dressing up pretty for him. Here."
Which lehnga will you be wearing?

The September 2023 new moon, occurring on September 14 at 9:40 p.m. ET (6:40 p.m. PT), falls under the influence of diligent Virgo.
The September 2023 new moon, occurring on September 14 at 9:40 p.m. ET (6:40 p.m. PT), falls under the influence of diligent Virgo. This celestial event also marks the end of Mercury retrograde, providing a positive shift for us as we move past retrograde challenges. New moons are typically seen as a time for fresh beginnings, relaxation, and planning, and Virgo's practical energy enhances these qualities.
How you will work with the New Moon Energy
Virgo is an earth sign known for its logic and practicality, but during this new moon, it's important to break free from overthinking. Spend time outdoors to connect with nature and unlock your creativity. The earthy influence of Virgo, combined with Mercury's idea-generation energy, can boost your innovation. Creating a mood board or journaling can help you harness these ideas effectively. Consider keeping a journal to document your thoughts and emotions. A grounding ritual like journaling outdoors or walking barefoot in nature can be particularly beneficial during this time. Whether you're journaling in the fresh air or engaging in creative activities, Virgo's supportive energy is on your side.
Spiritual Meaning of the New Moon in Virgo
Spiritually, new moons symbolize hope and new beginnings. With this new moon in detail-oriented Virgo, you may feel a strong desire to organize and prepare. It's an excellent time to get organized, whether it's planning the next few months or tying up loose ends in your life. If Virgo is present in your natal chart, focus on the area of your life it represents. Ask yourself how you can be your best self in that aspect without striving for perfection. Self-compassion is key.

“In India, one of the country’s worst-ever and long-running heatwaves, which finally relented in mid-June, left more than 40,000 people with heatstroke, with over 100 dead. Temperatures approached 50°C, with a night-time low of 37°C, reportedly the highest ever recorded in India,” Climate Central said in a statement. In Saudi Arabia, at least 1,300 people have died from heat-related illnesses during the Hajj pilgrimage. In Greece, the Acropolis in Athens had to be shut due to temperatures above 43°C – very high for this time of year. Among the tragedies brought by the heatwave, six tourists died. The eastern coast of US experienced an intense heatwave. In New York, health officials reported a 500-600% increase in heat-related emergency visits, Climate Central said.

A massive landslide in Papua New Guinea buried possibly 2000 people last Friday. Hope of finding survivors is rapidly diminishing. The country is requesting the UN help coordinate resources to help, like heavy machinery to move debris, drones to map instability, extra manpower, etc.
Israel is pushing into Rafah in the face of the International Court of Justice demanding that Israel stop. An airstrike hit a tent camp that killed 45 people, and Netanyahu made a very rare concession that was a mistake, but considering, you know, all the other death it seems odd he chose this incident specifically. The Pentagon said it was suspending humanitarian aid shipments to Gaza after the floating pier it used was damaged as well as several vessels were beached due to strong currents and bad weather.
Closing statements were made at the Trump hush money trial, and it will now go to the jury.
The DNC is holding a "virtual roll call" to nominate Biden. Ohio said its ballot deadline was August 7th and the DNC convention starts on August 19th, so then people would not be able to vote for him in Ohio if the DNC doesn't expedite the process. In reality Biden has more or less been voted in as the Democratic candidate, but isn't officially until the convention when states send representatives to vote him in. Conventions are vestiges of when candidates were chosen in "smoke-filled rooms" by party top brass, but it's a way to hype up voters.
South Africa is having its elections tomorrow. Mandela's African National Congress party (ANC) has held a solid majority since apartheid ended, but massive corruption in recent years may topple it. The country has had enough political assassinations post-apartheid that it has its own wikipedia page, but for this upcoming election, the killings seem to be ramping up.
The military controlling Burkina Faso is extending its control for an additional five years before relinquishing control back to civilian rule. The country had two coups in 2022. Who knows if the transition will actually happen.
Mexico City announced it could run out of water in a month due to three years of drought.
Last February a forest fire killed 137 people in Chile. Over the weekend a firefighter and forestry official were arrested for starting it.
A fire tore through a newborns hospital in India, killing seven babies.

a long rant that’s apparently controversial
there was this indian dark academia blog i followed here, and respected that person despite not agreeing on some of their views on certain things. i got into a disagreement with them on tumblr about ncert scrapping off chunks of mughal history from textbooks. they mocked that the board would be teaching us about ‘rig veda and nalanda’. i replied with a comment that there’s more to indic civilisation than the vedas. we should be knowing about a lot of our dynasties and some exceptional rulers before the mughals invaded. it is a fair deal to scrap a bit of sucking up to mughal imperialism and talk about those who made india the candy that it was for invaders, why it was such a hotbed for trade that made it the one of the richest countries to exist in the medieval era. these things are not widely known and they should be known. what kind of history only talks about invaders and not the ones who lived here. why can’t we have both in appropriate measures.
they straight up blocked me lol. they replied to my comment after blocking me, so i couldn’t explain my point to anyone else tagging me and making fun of what i said, which they misinterpreted in the first place. they dug up all my older posts, specifically the hindublr tag and mocked the fact that i think hinduphobia is a real thing.
i’m not mad that these people ridiculed me. i don’t care for their wilful ignorance either. they removed any chance of discourse and want to live in their own bubble of ignorance, fine. there can be people who still disagree with me and that’s okay. i wish people would stop resorting to blind hostility and actually try to read what someone is trying to convey.
it bothers me how they think they’re inclusive at the expense of another community. they (them and their followers) pride themselves on their education and liberalism but don’t seem to know the concept of critical thinking, or conversing with someone they disagree with. how do you villify a person for having an opinion different than yours. an opinion that doesn’t oppress anybody or any community. nothing i said was erasing a community or history.
it concerns me that they’re hell bent on thinking india can be a better place by downplaying the role and significance of hinduism and redact its attempted erasure, when it was literally called hindustan. this isn’t a ‘left vs right’ or ‘religion vs. religion’ or ‘govt vs people’ thing. why is it so hard to believe that religious clashes can go both ways. why is it so hard to go beyond ncert textbooks and agenda-driven historians to actually read about our ancient civilisation. you don’t have to be religious for that.
it was appalling that they they would dig up my older posts on this certain topic to have their followers hate on me. i guess i held them at a higher standard.
my only point was that we shouldn’t always ask “how did mughals rule in this country?”
we should also ask “why was india so sought after by other kingdoms and emperors?”
“who all were involved in making this land so prosperous that it attracted people from all over the world?”
“why should we be proud of our ancestors and not consider this a defeatist nation?”

Amby, My Beautiful Amby
Today marks my 100th birthday, and I can still move, still walk, still live. It’s a miracle, really. I should’ve been gone a long time ago, but I’m not. And it’s all because of her, my Amby. My beautiful, brave Amby. Everything I am, everything I’ve ever done since that night, I owe to her.
She was the love of my life. I met her when I turned 21, back in 1997. From the moment I saw her, I knew. She became my constant companion, the one I ran to when the world felt too heavy. We shared everything, endless conversations, quiet drives with nothing but the sound of wind, and nights spent chasing the stars without a care. I thought she’d be with me forever.
It was the summer of 2029 when it all changed. Just another adventure, like so many before. No destination, no plan, just the road beneath us and music filling the air. That night, I had this sudden, reckless urge to push further, to see how fast we could go, how far we could escape from everything. She laughed, God, I remember that laugh, and we flew down the highway, our hearts racing with every mile.
Then the rain came. Out of nowhere, as if the sky cracked open above us. The road vanished beneath a thick fog, and I couldn’t see a thing. I should’ve slowed down. I should’ve pulled over. But I didn’t. I kept going, hoping to find somewhere to stop, somewhere safe for both of us.
And that’s when it happened. Headlights—bright, blinding, and too close. A truck barreled out of the mist, and everything shattered in an instant.
I don’t remember much after that—just darkness, sirens, and the distant hum of hospital lights. When I woke, all I could think about was her. I didn’t care where I was or what had happened to me. I just needed to know if she was okay.
"Where’s Amby?" I whispered, my voice weak and cracked.
The room went silent. My mother sat beside me, holding back tears, and finally, she spoke. "She saved your life… but she didn’t make it."
I felt something inside me collapse, a weight too heavy to bear. I tried to move, to get out of bed and find her, but that’s when I noticed..my left leg, or what was left of it.
Everything below the knee was gone. Instead, there was something strangecold, rigid. Pieces of metal, glinting faintly under the hospital lights. I stared in disbelief, unable to understand what I was seeing.
My mother explained through sobs. "When they found you both, you were pinned—crushed. Your leg was torn apart, but there were shards of metal lodged into it, holding it together. If the doctors had removed them, you would’ve bled to death on the spot. So they did what they had to,they worked around the metal, amputated what was beyond saving, and used what remained… to rebuild your leg."
I couldn’t speak. Couldn’t breathe.
"It’s her," my mother whispered. "The metal, it’s her. They made your leg from what was left of her."
That’s when the truth hit me like a punch to the chest. Amby wasn’t just a girl, wasn’t just the love of my life. She was my first love in another way—the *first car* I ever bought with my own hard-earned money. My beautiful Hindustan Ambassador. She saved me, even in her final moments, becoming a part of me forever.
Every step I take, every move I make, she’s with me. Amby didn’t just save my life, she *became* a part of me. And though she’s gone, she still carries me forward, even a hundred years later.
