Sweetheart and Darlin also (in relation to a previous post) have the best friend status in my head (because of the smash tournament)

But they’re two types of a similar trope

Sweetheart has that intimidating stare that says ‘I’ll seduce your wife and I’ll be a better lover than you ever were’ or the ‘I know everything about you and will expose your deepest secret for my own benefit’

And Darlin has that ‘will stab you through the hand’ type of stare

Both of them menacing in their own way

One’s mental combat whereas the other’s is physical

Some things I’ve noticed with icons (part 2):

1. David and Milo

David’s icon is a close up of his wolf form’s teeth - because that’s what David as a character is on the outside. When we first met him he was the tsundere, the mean guy, in a position of power. Bark and bite. That’s all he was until his character was fleshed out. It’s what people who don’t know him as well, see him as - he’s a man who gives orders. He’s seen as his words, his power. The sharpness of his teeth, the force of his authority. But the phrase “all bark and no bite” doesn’t apply to David. He gives orders and lives within them. For example, he ordered for the ward to come down in the inversion - and he put himself in there to fight the battles he had a part of causing. He’s respected for his authority because he matches his words with his actions. He’s equally bark and bite.

Milo’s icon is his wolf form. As someone has said ( @breezysuffers ), Milo looses his wolf in every universe. It’s a vital part of his identity. His wolf form is what he’s made fun of in earlier audios and it’s what he uses to save thousands of lives. Milo and his wolf form are so intertwined that it is as crucial part of his identity as any other part of his life. Milo is defined by his wolf, its presence, and its absence.

We’ve hit the fun number!

I’m sort of in denial that I’ve got that many people genuinely interested in the things I post - but thank you for everyone who’s tagged along for the journey (and people who’ve left any type of note of my post, love that)!

I’m not the most constant poster here, so it’s warms my heart to have the community that I do - thanks to all the moots and everyone who’s made this place the community we have now.

To add onto this, all of the wolf boys are mates. In the imperium, David and Asher are each other’s mates. Mates is the pair, not just the partner of the wolf.

‘The mates’ means all eight of them really.

But I get what OP is saying, if you wanted to refer to the listeners you could just say ‘the fun group’ as referenced in the wedding audio.

Some things I’ve noticed with icons:

1. Hush and the general ‘Freelancer’

Hush’s symbol can be comparable to the freelancer symbol as it includes the same general lines, and has the ‘over’ lines in freelancer icon as the trail away thinner lines in Hush’s.

I think this has relevance for a few reason.

One, the freelancer symbol is a DNA sequence, whereas Hush’s can be seen as an extended infinity sign. This shows the unnatural nature of Hush’s existence - he is the embodiment of everything and nothing at all. Created from another’s life force, he only imitates humanity. Whereas, Freelancers are an abundance of magic - they have access to a multifaceted skill set of elemental and energetic control. They are the most distant from your regular human, but are the best display of empowered life. Hush is distant in the opposite way, he’s less human than a daemon.

Additionally, Hush’s icon can also be seen as two infinity signs cut off from completion. I believe this could show how Hush is theoretically immortal, if not for the fact that he is a purpose bound being. Once his purpose is fulfilled, he no longer has a reason for existence. Thus, cutting off his immortality.

Two, Doc is a Freelancer. In a way, it’s almost symbolic how the two ends of the spectrum come together. An abundance of magic in a socially acceptable way, and an abundance of magic in a way that disturbs. A jack of all trades, and a purpose bound being. Doc has a choice of how they use their magic, and in what form, whereas Hush has to learn choice - imitating human nature, but never able to actually be human.

2. Darlin and Quinn

Now that Darlin has an ‘official’ icon, I payed a bit more attention to it. So the icon itself has a waning crescent moon within it (if we focus on the black portion), which symbolises rest and self-care. As this icon is also used as the general pack icon - i think it shows that since Darlin reconnected with the pack, they finally have a chance to regain their sense of self. If not directly taking care of themselves, then at least allowing others to care for them.

Which leads to my Quinn thing - I believe his icon symbolises both how he separated Darlin from the pack, but also how he fuelled their self-destructive nature. He was the reason Darlin felt the need to distance themselves, due to the fear of him harming the pack. Which is exactly what his icon displays. He cut them off from living a happy life, as well as from their support system.

Although, Darlin’s icon could also be seen as a waxing gibbous moon in the white portion, which symbolises reflection and growth. Once again, Quinn’s icon shows how he stops them from doing so. Quinn was a constant cycle of manipulation and abuse, he traps people and drags them down to his level. He ruins people instead of bettering them - his scratch through the icon just shows how he’s a direct opposite to the intended symbolism of the waxing moon.

Asher and Darlin are the bestest of friends in my head (because of that one video when Ash interrupts the morning with Sam) but it’s so funny thinking of their dynamic

Darlin with the deadpan stare, RBF, dark eye bags, looks like they could kill you, tall and menacing, visible scars, ratty and blood stained jacket, sharp canines exposed when they smile or talk - and then Asher’s the physical embodiment of the sun

Random Headcanons (a sequel):

(1, 2, and 6 are angsty)

- When Asher was a kid, he used to come up with elaborate plans to fight and take down Colm. Full blown sketched out fight scenes and everything. He’d draw Colm with really large angry eyebrows and draw his eyes with red pencil to get the ‘evilness’ across in his stick figures.

-> He would walk up to Marie with his “plans to fight away the evil man”, and Marie would smile down at him, in that bittersweet way, and save Ash’s sketches. She still has them to this day; preserved in a folder.

- Sometimes when Sweetheart gets home from work they’re so out of it that their hands phase through cups or plates they pick up to have dinner. Most of the time they can’t physically pick anything up, but sometimes they pick it up for only a short moment and then phase - resulting in a few broken glasses.

- The hill Lovely tumbled down when newly turned was the same one that Asher and Milo tumbled down in their wolf forms on their hike.

- Honey’s getting into doing goth makeup in their free time, so Guy asked for them to do his makeup, and now Honey’s lockscreen is a Guy 0.5 of him with really intricate goth makeup on.

- Whenever it rains, Darlin likes to go out and run in their wolf form. Sam sits on their front porch with a towel and does his daily sudoko while waiting for them to return.

- When Milo’s stressed he gets hand tremors. Colm had the same thing, and it was his tell for when he had bad cards at the casino.
