david is stoic when he’s in his wolf form. angel can’t really tell what he’s thinking since he has no tells, even in his human form. david’s an observer, he won’t make a move unless necessary. angel’s got big scary dog privileges, you could say.

however, one of the only times anyone has ever seen the alpha break his facade, was during the first solstice that angel attended. while they were nervous about not embarrassing david, he was just touched that they came to it at all. after the pack run, he trotted up to them in his wolf form and nudged their palm with his snout. angel likes to scratch behind his ear, and david enjoys that a lot.

angel didn’t even notice how ferociously his tail was wagging behind him as he sat in front of them. sweetheart is now sworn to secrecy due to being the only one who witnessed the alpha’s burst of happiness.

asher, unsurprisingly, isn’t as calculated as his alpha. he uses his wolf form as if it was nothing, shifting every moment he deemed necessary (often). babe sees him in that form more than enough times to know how his footsteps sound when he’s shifted. asher also likes leaving his shedding fur on the couch, much to babe’s chagrin.

his tail wags the most of out all the four main shaw pack members. he’s always upbeat and the smile he has on his face is infectious. babe often finds asher’s tail wagging when they’re on the couch cuddling. he likes being in his wolf form so he can curl up on top of them and lay his head on their chest, or on their lap for head scratches.

he’s just always happy to be around babe, and his wolf form expresses that enough. they can feel asher’s tail hitting their leg, or hear it swatting against the couch cushion. he also gives his mate the most kisses too; babe has to hold him at arms length to make his stop.

milo learns to love his wolf form and attempts to be in it more often so he can grow more confident. sweetheart encourages this and thinks his wolf form is really cool because they like his coat. milo prides himself on always maintaining good hygiene in both his forms, too.

he gets a bit embarrassed, but his tail tends to move back and forth a lot when sweetheart is sat in front of him picking out the small twigs and other pieces of nature from his fur. they know that milo can do it himself, but they like to take the time to tend to milo. he tries to stand still, but he can feel his tail moving at the speed of light behind him. when sweetheart noticed, they tease him a little, to which he lets out a small huff at.

he just enjoys having sweetheart close, in general, and to see them show such care for him in his wolf form as well makes his heartbeat quicken. if sweetheart ever offers to brush him, he’ll accidentally let out a bark of happiness.

sam has seen darlin’ in their wolf form a handful of times now. he thinks that it’s utterly impressive the way that they can use their form to their advantage in every fight. however, he doesn’t enjoy the aftermath where darlin’ is bleeding and scratched up. they claim they can feel their injuries ‘more’ when they aren’t shifted, so sam knows something is up when they don’t immediately return to their human form after a fight.

he noticed their tail wag when he’s got their head on his lap and he’s cleaning them up. his healing magic worked just as well in this form, and darlin’ was able to sit still like that. sam will never let them know it’s because their tail is doing all the moving for them; he’s just glad that they’re letting him heal them at all.

darlin’ likes being in touch with sam, it calms them down and makes them happy, as obvious as it was. they’ll lay on his lap for hours whilst he heals them, their tail waving against the couch or the bed. they’re so comfortable that they don’t even notice. sam never mentions it at all in hopes that darlin’ will let him see this form again. he just wants them to feel safe around him.

Not even joking when I say that these are the hottest versions of Sweetheart and Milo that I have made thus far. Yes sweetheart is missing an arm, yes this is my headcanon-because phantom limb-get it? because they're a stealth-nevermind I see the door.

A fun headcanon I have is that all the shaw pack members visually have something moon related on their person while all prime Solaire royalty have blood red jewelry like with Vincent here.

Small Milo/Sweetheart scene!! lets go!! god I missed these guys

Milo remembered it like it was yesterday.

This was after Sweetheart had disclosed to him that they shut themselves away because they were having a panic attack. Milo, concern coursing through him despite their casual tone, asked why they hadn't said anything.

"There are warning signs, but sometimes it's too late," they explained, drawing random patterns against Milo's bicep. "The milder ones, they're different. It's kinda like--it's kinda like being too close to a train as it passes."

"A train?"

Sweetheart nodded. "The rumbling, the unsettled feeling in your soul as the very ground beneath your feet shifts and sways. The way that as it's passing it almost takes your breath away, either in awe or fear. And there's usually the horn. The horn is the worst. It's so loud, but loud for a reason. A purpose. It's a warning, and sometimes you should listen to it, other times you just have to wait. And that's the key. You're feeling all of these things, and experiencing this in real life, but there's a part of you that knows it's going to end. Either in 5 minutes or forty-five, it will end. You're not stuck forever. You just gotta distract yourself until it's gone."

Milo took a few moments to process what was just said to him. Sweetheart's hands never stopped moving, soothing him without realizing it. He compared that analogy to how they acted in the past, how they refused to talk to him about certain ones. Either because talking would make it worse or because they felt it wasn't necessary.

"Is that the way you feel when you cloak?" He asked cautiously.

Sweetheart chuckled, a smile stretching across their face. "God no. Those ones feel like I'm under the train."

"Under it?"

"Yeah," they sighed, moving their hands from him to mock what they were about to say, "Certain death if I move the wrong way, or at all. Fight or flight is heightened to the point it's suffocating. Loud, and dangerous, and never-ending. Seconds stretching into hours"

They said it so casually like it was just something people deal with.

"Jesus Christ, Sweetheart."

Sweetheart smiled at him sheepishly, wrapping their arms around his bicep to rest their chin on his shoulder. "Sorry. I forgot I don't normally verbalize these things to you."

Their smile was warm, their eyes soft. Milo found his chest tightening at the sight, heart squeezing for his Sweetheart. Oh, if he could take this away from them--this feeling, this ailment--he would in a heartbeat. Anything to see this smile unhindered every day that he is alive.

"I love you, you know that," Milo said, the words being the only ones he could muster.

"I hope so," Sweetheart said quietly. turning their face to press a kiss into his skin. "'Cause you're stuck with me, unfortunately. Court mandated.

Milo leaned down to give Sweetheart a kiss, holding the back of their head to pull them even closer. "I hope the sentence is for life, if that's the case," he muttered against their lips.

Sweetheart scoffed, pushing his face away in embarrassment.

This is Artemis Hawthorne, my Sweetheart listener. One of my favorite designs for my Redacted listeners so far

Some small facts about them;

While they like the use of any pronouns (they are genderfluid), they usually prefer they/them on most days

Artemis is Arab. They can also speak Arabic

Artemis has one tattoo so far; one on their left arm (they want another one)

They are pretty skilled at weaponry usage (was raised on learning self defense of any kind)

When they were younger, they had a favorite weighted cat plush that would ease their anxiety attacks

Without the heels, they are exactly 6 ft tall

Artemis wanted to learn archery, but never got the chance (still wants to)

Their favorite ice cream is salted caramel

When they get slightly anxious, they fiddle with their wedding ring. It grounds them and makes them think of Milo

Some Headcanons I have for the listener characters for Redacted/Castle Audios (for funsies):

Castle - Ranger, Seer, Knight, Sugar, Dewdrop, and Dear/Bud

Redacted - Angel, Babe, Sweetheart, Tank, Lovely, and Honey

Castle:

Ranger:

- Looks like the phrase ‘ladies and gentleman’.

- Owns a pair of docs but stopped wearing them because they hurt their feet.

- Has a vintage Hindustan Contessa car in a beige colour.

- > has one of those fluffy dice decorations because Isiah gave them one for Christmas.

- >> they took it down after getting their memories back.

Seer:

- Has grey-ish blue eyes and when they use their powers they flash a bright white.

- Framed a piece of paper with Beth’s work signature on it and hung it where she pushed them against a wall in their house.

- Likes really big dangling earrings but can’t wear them for long otherwise they give Seer a headache.

- Tristan asked Seer to see into his future but instead of something cool, they saw him tripping over his own untied shoelaces.

Knight:

- Has an ‘I love my lesbian sister’ T-shirt, and Claire has a matching ‘I love my ally brother’. (Can be queer sister, ally sibling, or literally any matching queer shirts - I just thought it was fun).

- Is totally into Evie biting them and liked the thought before she was turned into a vampire.

- Knight never walks in front of Claire when the two are walking together, only beside her or behind her. They’re scared she’ll disappear again.

- Being introduced to people as ‘Knight’ gives them a confidence boost every time.

Dewdrop:

- Would own a pet snake.

- > Would call it something either ridiculous or super serious.

- >> “This is my little boy: Sir Serpent Snake-Sir the third”. Or “That’s Bob.”

- Chloe has a birthmark on her thigh that they love to kiss.

Sugar:

- Had a favourite jacket they were wearing before getting turned with a bunch of pins and patches on it -> but it was covered in blood stains after they were attacked and now they never wear it.

- > Their turning was a full on attack that was very bloody.

- Looks 20 but is like 98

- Is such a Valentine’s Day snob and would either proclaimed it’s a false holiday made to make profit from love, or they’d be 100% into it and go wild with roses and wine. (Basically they’d either be Damien or Huxley when it comes to Valentines).

- Saw Liza when she was a high school student but only has a vague memory of it so they can never place where they’ve seen her from before.

Dear/Bud:

- Has Heterochromia, left eye is blue and the other is brown. Totally doesn’t symbolise the two different characters that they’re involved with. Totally.

- Has GAD and takes medication for it, but prefers to have Rose in their head sometimes to help their overwhelming thoughts.

- Monster energy drink addict (Abby got them into them) it is not good for their anxiety (Rose would much rather they drink tea).

Redacted:

Angel:

- Likes to bake but forgets to set a timer, then forgets there’s something in the oven and has almost ended up burning the house down -> David has banned Angel from using the oven when he’s not around.

- Tried and failed to get their driver’s license five times.

- Has a tattoo sleeve with little Animal Crossing and Minecraft references mixed in there.

- Romanced either Sebastian or Shane in Stardew Valley.

Babe:

- Is an only child but has a younger step-sister they see on holidays.

- Likes to carry Asher around sometimes -> wears light and layered clothing so you wouldn’t assume they have muscles but actually have quite a bit.

- Makes Asher little packed lunches for when he has pack meetings and they’re not going.

- Is dyslexic, and needs glasses, words don’t like to word for Babe.

- Has painted Angels nails on numerous occasions.

Sweetheart:

- To empowered people they have tattoo like white marks on their collarbones and under their eyes (Stealth things (also can choose to show them, so people can’t tell right away)).

- Needs reading glasses.

- Has phased in their sleep and woken up above the blankets somehow?

- When they panic they cloak and uncloak really quickly so it kinda looks like they’re teleporting.

Tank:

- Has a bunch of siblings (Tank is towards the older end of the lot) and was heartbroken when they all moved away and none of them chose to stay with them in Dahlia.

- Easily sunburnt.

- Tried to count Sam’s freckles once without telling him what they were doing and kinda just stared at him while gradually getting closer. Eventually they ended up getting his shirt off to count more of them, and Sam just sat there flustered and confused.

- Has 100% played ‘Save a horse (Ride a cowboy)’ to serenade Sam.

Lovely:

- Their hair has started to turn white from stress.

- A lot of their hair was muddy and bloody after getting captured by Adam, so the morning after they were saved Vincent helped them chop off bits that couldn’t be salvaged.

- Used to think their brown eyes were boring but after they turned they miss their old eyes every time they look in a mirror.

- Is absolutely amazing at board/card games.

- > Somehow always wins Game of Life even through it’s pretty much a game of chance.

- > Got Sam, Vincent and Tank to play Monopoly with them and all three were bankrupt within half an hour.

- > Also dabbles in chess.

Honey:

- Works from home most days and has an office with a ‘No Guy Allowed’ sign on the door.

- For Guy’s birthday one year Honey learnt how to crochet and made an amazing sweater with a bunch of granny squares specific to Guy’s interests. Honey is all embarrassed about it because they know where all the little errors are but Guy loves it to death.

- Has picked up Guy to move him out of their way.

- Also plays Stardew Valley sometimes and is like five years in but hasn’t married anyone.

- > Has high hearts with the Wizard.

for the design lab: Sweetheart oc

1. What's your listener's name and nickname?

Cassiel (chosen name), commonly referred to as Sneaks or Cass (still called Sweetheart by Milo)

2. What's their backstory?

Cassiel comes from a family of five, having one older and one younger brother (Jonah and Raphael respectively). He comes from a well-off family, high middle class, both parents work in healthcare. Their older brother is studying to become a surgeon, and their younger brother wants to become a sculptor but is being pressured to pursue a science instead. Typically Cass doesn’t get as much feedback about their carer from their parents. A few times it was suggested they should become a teacher or a lawyer, but Cass never liked the idea of those. He never considered going into medicine, since they knew how much it strained their family, and they wanted to do something outside of the beaten path. Make a name for themselves as *Cassiel* not as a Grandwood (family name). Because their parents worked such hectic hours, Cass was often the one to watch their little brother in the evenings/weekends, and did not have free time for themselves because of this. They were not a very social child either, obsessed with books—mystery books in particular—and pouring themselves into their studies so they don’t get chewed out for their grades. When they found out that they were empowered, being the only one in their family to be empowered, they were very freaked out. They were only 13, and had no one to turn to. One of his teachers, also empowered, alerts Mazeed al-Masih (goes by Maze generally) who is a department worker, and he teaches Cass everything they need to know. They find out the opportunities they now have because they are empowered, things he didn’t even dream about, and he sets off for DAMN university as soon as he’s graduated high school. DAMN is in a different state than Cass, despite being the closest, so this does separate them from their family, and they don’t make a habit of keeping in contact with anyone but their little brother. They make it their mission to become an Investigator, and the best one around at that.

3. What's the desired aesthetic of your listener character (punk, greaser, bimbo, scene kid, schoolgirl)?

Kinda thinking punk meets 1920’s investigator. If that makes sense. idk if it does.

4. What's your listener's gender presentation like?

Trans-masc, usually says that they’re non-binary. (they/he pronouns)

I’m not sure any official words for it, but like a volleyball/swimmer build (they played volleyball since middle school)

Familial (both found and blood): The pack, Mazeed, Raphael (little brother), their friends from DAMN, the rest of their family to an extent

Reading, puzzles (both jigsaw and things like crosswords/sudoku/etc), walks/cafe visits to people watch, volleyball

13. What kind of lover are they to their partner/what kind of friend are they?

They’re pretty attentive to the ones they love. If there’s the tiniest thing that they notice they’re going to attempt to fix it. Very much a quality time/acts of service guy. Some would think that because of the effort they put into their work, they wouldn’t be a very good lover and those people are very very wrong. They will make time for everything (even if it nearly kills them)

14. What is something/are some things that your listener values?

Family, justice, quality time (if that counts??)

16. What's the inspiration behind your listener's design?

Honestly a lot of Cass’ design/vibe is just a mash of a bunch of things I enjoy in a character, but the main thing i think of when i think of him is “tasks themselves with fixing the world” and a lot of 1920’s snuff films. Cass is definitely my most chaotic oc so far.

17. Could you give me a vague concept of what your listener's visual vibe is?

Fashionable when trying, very cozy when they’re not. They’re very intimidating when they dress up, usually has rings and the like on. If it’s for work, it’s very much business attire with a few personal touches that won’t get them in trouble (their rings, for example). If it’s a casual day in with Milo/the pack they let themselves dress cozier with over sized sweaters and such.

18. What are some extra tidbits you wanna tell me about your listener?

This kinda goes with the program but i kinda wanna stress how stubborn (maybe headstrong is a better word idk) they are. They will do something the hardest way because that’s how they started it and they don’t want to change plans now. They also have a necklace that their little brother gave them that they won’t take off. I think that’s all I wanna mention.

LaVeau-gue - design #004 - Sweetheart - Cassiel - Pluto

I haven't touched this series in a while but I'm back at it and starting it up slowly with Pluto's Sweetheart, Cassiel!

Design Notes

I would say this was difficult to design but that would be a lie. Instead I will say that it was fun to mess with this design.

First off, my major considerations were that this was a design for sweetheart, it was supposed to be inspired by Athena, it was noir punk and that you're a Percy Jackson fan (debatable since you like the movies but oookaaayyy/j).

So for this, I wanted to lean into different things; Cassiel should look put together but similalry uncooperative-you mention that growing up, they got good grades but did so for the sake of earning them to pass off as a good student rather than having a love for it. Additionally, the mention of their love of puzzles as well as their meticulous attention to detail concerning their loved ones gave me a good idea of what their shape language should be.

Cassiel reads someone who is somewhat athletic, attentive and keen to question things so while their hair might be slicked back, their posture upright and their attire somewhat kept, they do not concede to the complete idea of being wholely tidy by appearance. Following old british punk influence, I loosened Cassiel's tie, gave him a blue patch in their nice dress pants, added a blue studded belt and choker while also giving them a fishnet top which is more emo than punk but the addition of it feels it's anti-DUMP dresscode so I ran with that.

I did take note of Cassiel's penchant for dressing up and rings but elected that such a look would not be regular enough to make up for a complete design so I leaned away from that and into something that Cassiel would wear while in the field.

Finally, after those aspects, I then leaned into their athena inspiration and DUG for some inspiration from Epic The Musical-that led me to using blues and grays within the design BUT the majority of the influence came from the concept of barn owls. This shaped out with their hair being slicked back, their colour pallette mimicking the same distribution of colour across a barn owl's feathers as well as the framing of his face. As a smaller note, I gave them blonde hair and a grey streak as a callback to annabeth who sports that kind of hair in the PJO books if I'm not mistaken.
