You’d been with Marshall for a little over a year and it was safe to say that you’d never had a love like this, before. It was everything you ever wished for. Your boyfriend was kind, funny, respectful… You couldn’t believe your luck. To say you had been disappointed by men in the past would be quite an understatement. It had been a succession of shitty relationship and, before meeting Marshall, you were almost ready to swear off men. After all, why bother when they all turn out to be liars ? But your relationship with Marshall almost made your past heartbreak worth it. Sometimes, you even told yourself that he was too good to be true. It even made you anxious, at the beginning of your relationship, and you had that surge of anxiety that told you to prepare for the worse, but it never came. So, with time, you let your guard down and allowed yourself to enjoy the beautiful moments you shared with him.

One evening, you were at his place, lounging on the couch, curled up on his side, mindlessly scrolling on social media while he was watching some football game on TV. You came across a tweet with a picture of him you had never seen before, posted by some fan account. According to the caption, it dated back to 1999. There he was, baby-faced, with bleached blonde hair, posing for a picture with four other people. You recognized Proof, whom Marshall had told you about countless times, as well as some actor. There were also two ladies in the picture, one of them right above Marshall, who was absolutely stunning. According to the replies to the tweet, her name was Kesia. Another added that she had notably been his side piece for a while, and that there affair was ongoing when he got married to Kim. Some even went to far as to give details, quoting articles. Apparently, it was common knowledge among the fans and, even back then, it was not exactly a secret. That woman even went on tour with him and everyone around him condoned the whole relationship. He was absorbed by the players, but he still felt you tense up. He didn’t even need to look at you to know something was up. He turned to you with concern all over his face. « Are you alright, babe ? ». You stayed silent for a couple of seconds. It felt a little silly, being upset over a random tweet mentioning your boyfriend’s past. But you could hear that voice in your head that told you that she’s been right all along, that all men were trash and that you had been so stupid to think Marshall would be different. « Babe ? » Marshall tried again. You turned to him, unable to hide the frown on your face. His eyebrows furrowed and he pressed pause on the game before cupping your cheek. «What’s wrong ? » he asked. You hesitated and took a deep breath before speaking. « It’s nothing. It’s just… I came across this tweet. People are saying that you had that sidepiece, around the time you first got married to Kim. Kesia or something ? ». You handed him your phone and he looked at the screen for a second before handing it back to you with a small sigh. « That was long ago », he said quietly. « But… That’s true ? » You asked as you felt a sense of unease. « It is. » he simply replied. His tone was calm. As if it were no big deal. As if he lacked the decency to be ashamed. You looked at him with a puzzled look on your face. « That’s all you have to say ? » You asked. « I thought you knew. I told you I’d been unfaithful in the past, when I was with Kim. ». To be fair, he had. Only, you had figured that he meant he’d had one night stands with groupies, that he wasn’t especially proud of and had came to regret after the deed was done. It was still cheating but, for some reason, you found that less appalling than having an actual side piece, with whom he had entertained an actual relationship while being married with his ex.

You couldn’t hide your contempt. As someone who had been cheated on by multiple partners, this thought brought back a ton of insecurities. « There’s being unfaithful. And there’s having a side piece. That’s horrible. ». You absolutely refused to sugarcoat it. He knew of your past, and him being so casual about it didn’t sit right with you either. He sighed and took your hand. You let him, though you remained unresponsive. « I know. Look, I know it doesn’t make it much better, but it was a long time ago. I was a different person, back then.». You scoffed as your eyes filled with worries. «I know it was a different time, but how can I be sure you won’t do the same thing to me? That you haven’t already? ». He squeezed for your hand, holding it firmly as he looked I your eyes. « Y/N, I need you to know that I’m not that guy anymore. I’ve made a lot of mistakes, and I’ve hurt people I cared about. But losing them, and almost losing myself, it taught me a lot. I’ve changed. I’ve worked hard to be the kind of man who deserves someone as good as you. ». Your eyes softened, but the doubt still lingered. « I want to believe you, Marshall. I really do. But words… they’re just words. ».

Marshall sighed. You were right and he knew it. Words weren’t enough and, with everything the men that came before him had put you through, you had major trust issues. He took his phone out and scrolled for what seemed like an eternity, while you started sulking. « This, » he said, handing the phone to you «is what I sent to the group chat with the D12 guys a couple of months into a relationship. ». You grabbed his phone and looked at it. It was a selfie of you, the first one you ever took together. You had gone to a Lego exhibit and, on the pic, you were making goofy faces, pointing at a huge Darth Vader sculpture made of Legos. Under it was a caption that read ‘She’s fucking perfect. Mark my words, I’m going to marry this girl!’. You handed him the phone back, not saying a word, and he scrolled again, showing you other texts he’d sent in recent weeks, positively gushing over how perfect you were, and his plans for the future with you, and how he had never thought he’d be so happy in a relationship. His friends were teasing him, asking when he was going to propose, and he replied that he just needed the perfect time and place. As soon as you saw it, you looked at him, mouth open and unable to say a word. Having been together for a year, you had spoken about the future on a couple of occasions, even talked about moving together one day, but you had ever talked about marriage. « I am absolutely serious about us, Y/N, » Marshall said, his voice steady. « You’re my one and only. I’m absolutely crazy about you and everyone in my life know that. You’re a part of every plan I’ve made. This is my way of showing you that I’m serious, that I’m committed to us. I want to spend my life with you. ». Your breath caught in your throat as you looked up at him. « Marshall… ». You were stunned and your heart was racing in a mix of emotions. « You-You want us to get married ? ». You didn’t really need him to answer, though. One look in his eyes told you that he was serious. He simply smiled and cupped your cheek. «Of course. You’re beautiful. You’re perfect for me and not only am I in love with you, I am in love with us. You make me a better man. Someone I ever thought I could be. Of course I want to marry you. ». He pressed his forehead to you before continuing. « I’m not proposing right now, because you deserve a better proposal story than me proposing at home, wearing sweatpants, but just so you know, I plan on marrying you and claiming you as my wife, because you are the love of my life. And I will let the world that I belong to you. I was a liar and a cheat, and I’ve paid the price for it. But I don’t regret it, because this is what allowed me to be worthy of you.»

preview: you never understood what love was. you always thought being in a relationship was a waste of time but, when you shut your eyes and fall asleep… you can’t help but fall for an unfamiliar face. was it all in your head?

a/n: literally in love with this song. i hope you guys enjoy this! it’s a little long but, i did stop writing for a while so i hope this satisfies some of you. it’s fantasy, which i want to get into more so, enjoy.

love. what is the whole point of it? the thought of love or being in love made you mentally roll your eyes. you were young, you didn’t need it. plus, the boys in this generation didn’t fit the ‘boyfriend’ narrative. you’re a senior in high school. not once did you ever experience remotely close to affection, a relationship, or anything in that matter. while your friends yearned for new experiences, you stayed in your place. it wasn’t that you were hopeless, you just never felt the same as your friends. even your family is concerned; you are too caught up in your own solitude.

“Y/n, are you seriously just going to not put yourself out there?” your friend, Madison, interrupts your thoughts. you lift your head up slightly from your phone, “what do you mean?” you ask, putting your phone down on the bed. Madison gives you a straight face before speaking up, “you know what I mean. i’m not the only one worried about you.” she scoots closer to you, “everyone is wondering when you’re finally going to get a boyfriend.” you groan and lean back into your pillows, “Madison, you know I don’t need all that right now. we’re about to finish high school, and I just want to focus on myself and my future.” you say looking down at your hands in your lap.

“yes, I get it but, really? not even a date? I know about a few guys who would die happily if they ever got a chance with you.” she states with her eyes fixed on you. ��look, when the time comes, it’ll happen but, i’m just…” you pause slightly, “not interested okay?” you finish which makes her sigh, “we’ll see about that.” she says.

it was late at night, you were peacefully sleeping when all of the sudden you hear a knock at your window. startled, you sit up immediately locking eyes with the curtains that covered the frame. you move the covers off of you as you make your way slowly towards the window, your hand gently moving the curtain to the side. your eyes widen at the sight of a brunette boy. you let go of the fabric and cover your mouth quickly. what the fuck? you then hear another soft knock. you brace yourself as you move the curtain again to meet eyes with him.

you push your window up slowly and swallow, “what the hell are you doing? and who are you?” you say shakily. “you’re not going to hurt me are you? don’t get any ideas!” you whisper yell. the boy chuckles softly and whispers, “hey, calm down. i’m not going to do anything.” he says pushing past you slightly to make himself enter your room. you quickly turn to face him, “i didn’t say you could come in!” you whisper yell, still in shock. “i’m Matt.” he says, extending his hand towards you.

you look at his hand and back at him, “i don’t care! why are you here? are you crazy?” he moves his hand away as he speaks, “i’m actually not sure why i’m here.” you scoff and look around to meet eyes with your clock, it was 2 a.m. you look at him with wide eyes, “it’s 2 a.m! a-and I don’t even know you!” you exclaim quietly.

“i’ve never ever seen you before.” you say pacing a bit. “so what are you doing here?!” you let out. Matt sits on the bed softly, as he flattens out the sheets before looking back up at you, “like I said, I don’t know but, we’re on the same page.” he says, never breaking his gaze. your eyes catch his gaze, confused, “what are you talking about?” he shrugs, “well, one moment I was asleep in my room, and now i’m here. which makes no sense because, I have no recollection of getting here.”

“wait what?” you lift a hand up to rub your forehead, “so what are you saying? you just somehow, teleported here?” you ask in disbelief. “I guess? i’m sorry I startled you but, i’m just as confused as you are.” he replies with a soft expression. “confused isn’t even the word to describe this! this is terrifying, absolutely mind boggling like-.” Matt cuts you off, “hey calm down. I get it. how about we figure out what this is?” he suggests, standing up slowly.

you step back slowly, “l-look. is this some sick joke?” you whisper. he immediately shakes his head, “no! trust me, I don’t get what’s going on either.” he steps forward slowly, “but, if you would just calm down, we can figure it out.” you look at him, hesitant before speaking up, “f-fine! but just keep a distance from me!” he chuckles, “you’re still not calm.” “oh don’t tell me what I am!” you quickly reply.

as the night longed out, you eventually relaxed as you both spoke to each other, getting to know each other, and trying to figure out what this was but all of the sudden, you hear your mother’s voice. it was a slight whisper as your head turned towards the door, “mom?” you call out as Matt also looks towards the door.

“Y/n? sweetie?” her voice still lingers. all of the sudden, you feel your body being shaken, making you open your eyes? what? you look at your mother with a confused expression as you look around. it was daylight and Matt was no where to be seen? “I made breakfast. I thought you had plans to sleep over Madison’s house today?” your mother asks.

you continue to look around confused. how was it already daylight? and where did Matt go? how was it possible that he was here one second and now he’s gone? “hey, are you okay?” you look at her and open your mouth slightly, trying to figure out what to say, “i-i just thought…” you whisper and break the eye contact, “nothing…” your mother’s expression falters slightly at your uneasy tone, “okay? well, come down for breakfast. I made your favorite.” she says standing up and walking out the door. you immediately grab your phone and text Madison about what happened but you look up from your phone. was it a dream? you look back down at your phone and shake your head as you delete the pre written text. you cover your face with your hands still trying to wonder what the hell your mind was doing to you.

“wait what?” Madison asks shaking her head in confusion, “what do you mean a random boy showed up at your window?” “I-I don’t know! it was weird. then I suddenly woke up and everything was so different?” you reply. she lets out a soft chuckle, “oh so it was a dream?” you instantly look at her with a blank stare, “how could it have been a dream?” “I mean you did say you woke up this morning all of the sudden back to reality.” from the words she was saying, you were starting to think maybe she’s right but, how?

“Madison, how could I dream of someone I don’t even know?” you utter, making her shrug, “maybe your mind created a boy for you since you won’t allow yourself to get a real one.” she laughs. “not funny.” you mutter softly making her chuckle once more, “i’m just saying, maybe your mind is doing that to you because you’re secretly yearning for an experience.” you throw a pillow at her, shaking your head from what she just remarked. “i’m not yearning for anything!” she hums slightly not believing your words, “right… well, just don’t be so freaked out about a dream.” she pauses, “was he at least cute?” you think about it for a moment, trying to remember Matt’s face. “yes… he was but-.” Madison gasps sarcastically, “wow, you finally find a guy attractive and he’s totally made up.” the words make you roll your eyes as you respond, “you asked and I answered!” she just shakes her head, “yeah you need someone desperately.” you hit her once again with the pillow before you both laugh together.

that night, you and Madison drifted off to sleep with the tv playing quietly in the background. the air in the room made you shiver suddenly as you fluttered your eyes slowly. you turn your head to instant meet eyes with the same brunette boy, Matt. you sit up quickly and let out, “w-what are you doing here?! how’d you know where I was?” he looks around and looks back at you shrugging, “don’t ask me. we both know I don’t know either.” he says. “I think I prefer your room better.” he adds on looking around at the messy room. you get out of the bed, carefully not wanting to wake up Madison, “can you keep your voice down?” you whisper. Matt stared at you as you look at the window before turning back to face him, “how’d you get in?”

“I just happened to be here.” he replies with a shrug. you groan quietly and rub your forehead in frustration, “how is this happening?” he stays silent and shrugs once again. a sigh escaped your mouth, “we seriously need to figure this out. this is insane do you agree? how is this even possible? two nights in a row too?” “I agree but, I somewhat don’t mind.” he says, catching you off guard. you give him a long stare before speaking up a little too loudly, “how could you say that?!” after realizing, you cover your mouth and glance at Madison. who to your surprise, was still sleeping?

Matt looks at Madison as well before looking back at you. he gently reaches out to move your hand slowly but something else catches both of your attentions. when you both touch, a soft glow appears making you yank your hand back slightly, “h-how…” you whisper looking at your hand. “may I?” he speaks up still reaching out to you. you hesitate for a bit before moving your hand closer to his. when your hand meets his again, you both hold onto each other as the glow appears again between you two. Matt looks at you as you meet his gaze. your expression softens slightly. the way your guys’ hands meet brought a new feeling for you. you don’t know what this feeling was but it frightened you a little. your body felt warm and your heartbeat was increasing. you let go slowly before speaking up, “did you feel that?” you whisper. Matt nods slowly, “I-I did… what does this all mean? do you think it has to do with why this is happening?” he asks. you look over at Madison again, still wondering how she hasn’t woken up. “I-I don’t know but…” keeps looking at Madison, “Madison?” you call out with your voice slightly raised. nothing. Matt keeps his eyes on you, “she can’t hear us.” how is that possible?

you still couldn’t shake the feeling off after the small hand hold. the glow? why was it happening? the more you thought of it, the more you believed you were dreaming but still, Matt was also confused himself. you walk over to the tv and turn it off before making your way back to him, sitting in front of him. “okay so clearly… this is a dream… but, it makes no sense. how could we both be dreaming and still be conscious in a way?” you wonder. “right… when we go to sleep… we see each other? even though we’ve never even met before, we dream together?” he asks. it didn’t make sense to any of you. it still sounds crazy but, it was really happening. “let’s just see what happens these next few nights… maybe we’ll get more answers.” you whisper which Matt responds with a nod.

the next morning, you wake up to slight talking. you open your eyes to see the tv still on. even though you vividly remember turning it off. Madison wakes up shortly after, “oh good morning? since when do you wake up before me?” she asks yawning. “I just felt like it…” you murmur, pretending to be tired still. your mind still wonders how she couldn’t hear anything last night or wake up once. “so last night… you slept good?” you ask her. “yes I did but, it got a little chilly.” she says, “I woke up for a bit to turn off the fan.” your eyes meet hers confused, “you did?” she nods, “yeah, you were out like a feather though.” she gets up walking towards the bathroom. “I don’t know how you weren’t freezing.” she woke up? not only did she wake up but apparently you were asleep the whole time? that confirmed it for you. it was just… dreams.

these past nights, you’ve been getting closer to Matt. accepting the fact that every time you both close your eyes, you both show up together. you two even took it upon yourselves to explore outside. everything felt quiet and peaceful. i mean, everyone is asleep when you two appear together. including you guys but, everything was just perfect in a way. the more time you spent with Matt, the brighter the glow between you two got when you accidentally touch. “what does this mean?” you whisper to him. “i’m still not sure but, it’s concerning how it’s getting more prominent.” he says.

the big question still is, why were you two brought together? “what do we have in common that possibly made us come together?” he whispers. right now, you two were sitting on the side walk as the light from the moon shined upon you two. “well… Madison told me that the reason you might be in my dreams is because i’m secretly yearning for something.” you say quietly as you avoid eye contact. “yearning for what exactly?” he asks keeping his gaze on you. a sigh escapes your mouth softly as you look up at the sky, “love… even though it’s far from the truth. I never once wanted it. I think it’s a waste of time especially with the options that are given. i’ve never came close to an experience and that’s my choice.” you admit.

Matt’s POV

as soon as those words came out of her mouth, it instantly clicked in my head. we both always thought the idea of love was foolish. we both don’t have any experience. maybe this was the answer. our consciousness brought us together to… what? help each other break out of that mindset? I keep my eyes on her as she fiddles with her hands nervously. “it’s stupid I know…” she whispers. “n-no it’s not…” should I tell her what I was thinking?

she looks at me confused, “you don’t think it’s stupid?” I didn’t. even though I didn’t believe in love, the way i’ve been feeling around her makes me think it won’t hurt to be open to it. “not really. your friend has a point.” I pause slightly, “I never was much of a believer in love either. maybe the reason we’re dreaming together is because we’re the same…” I whisper. she looks away and I can tell she’s thinking about it. she shakes her head slightly, “no that’s-. and even if it was-.” she sighs, “it’s not fair to us that we’re being forced like this.” she finishes. “I mean if we both have avoided contact for so long with other people… I guess finally finding someone who thinks alike might work? and we have to help each other out?” I whisper, hopefully she agrees.

“so what are you trying to say? we try things out?” she asks shakily. “it wouldn’t hurt… right? then maybe we can figure out what that glow between us is.” I let out hopeful. there was a moment of silence between us before she nods hesitantly, “okay… fine…”

End of Matt’s POV

as time passes by, you can’t help but feel your heart beat increase even more now every time you’re with Matt. there was something between you two and it made you feel more relaxed to the idea of exploring the connection. it was to the point you couldn’t wait to fall asleep to see him again.

“so you’re telling me… you might be having feelings for someone who’s completely made up in your head?” Madison says through the phone. “well… when you put it like that it sounds crazy but-.” “it’s more than crazy Y/n. it’s concerning.” she cuts you off. you sit up in your bed, “Madison, you know I literally throw up mentally at the idea of relationships and anything in that matter… this is happening for a reason.” you say slightly defensive. “are you hearing yourself? happening for a reason? Y/n! it’s all in your head. how long has this been going on for? weeks?” she asks raising her tone a bit. “yes weeks and this is the first time I feel this way. I know it’s unreal but, trust me.”

“no Y/n. he’s not fucking real. he will never be real because you’re just imagining him! he’s only in your dreams and you can’t do anything about it. you can’t just expect to never believe in love and then magically have your dream boy in front of you. which, he isn’t! it’s all in your head!” she practically screams through the phone. you know she had good intentions behind her words, to try and shake you from this unrealistic situation but, you knew deep down you couldn’t just avoid it. you hang up the phone, laying back into your bed as tears slowly stream down your face.

you drift off to sleep but immediately open your eyes, or in your dreams you did. “Y/n?” you hear Matt’s voice whisper. you sit up slowly and look at him as tears continue to flow from your eyes. “hey, what’s wrong?” he asks sitting next to you, wrapping an arm around your shoulders. he pulls you into his chest gently as you continue to cry. the glow appearing once again, “it’s just… this… this is real right? between us?” you gently ask shakily. “o-of course it is.” Matt says rubbing your arm softly. you look up at him and whisper, “and what happens if it isn’t?” he looks down at you with a hint of sadness in his eyes, “don’t say that… did Madison put more words in your head? I know this situation is not typical but, this between us is real. we will figure this out.” he wipes your tears away as his lips form a soft smile. “these past weeks, I feel more attached to you. I never expected to be in this situation but, you are making it easy for me. this is the reason why this is happening, or at least for me what I think. i’m finally starting to be open to love.” you look away as you feel like your heart is about to leap out of your chest. as much as you wanted this, you still couldn’t shake Madison’s words from your head. it’s only been a few weeks… how could you love someone, who like Madison said, isn’t real?

“Matt…” you whisper, feeling slightly hurt. he lifts your chin up slowly to look up at him, “what is it?” he asks softly. you look into his eyes, you felt safe. you wanted nothing more for this to be actually happening but, realistically you knew it was wrong. “I-I can’t…” you admit shakily. “i’m just dreaming of you… and this sucks because even when i’m wide awake I still think of you… when you’re not real… i’m not real to you…” you pause for a bit before continuing, “as much as i’d rather be here in my room, dreaming with you… we have to think realistically.” he sits up slightly, “Y/n come on… you can’t just give up now. we still didn’t figure this out completely.” he says. “I-I know but… this is-.” “please Y/n… you can’t just ignore how you truly feel.” he says, “look into my eyes and tell me you don’t feel the same as me.” he finishes. his eyes were filled with hope but still the hint of sadness he was feeling.

the silence was loud in the room as you both stared at each other. his eyes lingered on your face for a while before they trailed down to your lips slowly. you swallow slightly as you felt yourself lean in subconsciously but, you stopped when you two were inches away from each other’s lips. you shut your eyes and whisper, “it’s just a dream.”

after that moment, you began to avoid falling asleep. you did everything in your power to make sure you didn’t close your eyes and drift off to sleep. you couldn’t face him. it just hurt too much to think about. you couldn’t let this affect reality. you tried to make yourself believe that he was just a figment of your imagination. nothing more.

Your POV

it’s been a few days since i’ve slept. I feel like i’m going crazy. I can shake him off my mind and the pain in my heart is getting more unbearable. I want nothing more but for him to hold me close right now… but it’s all just in my head. I sit near my window as I stare up at the moon. “even when i’m awake… I can’t stop dreaming of you…” I whisper shakily as a tear rolls down my cheek. why did it have to be like this? I wonder if he’s thinking of me too… wherever he is out there…

I gently rest my head on my knees as I continue to look up at the slightly lit up dark sky. as the world sleeps, I stay up thinking about my imagination. I just wanted this to stop. I wipe my tears when I suddenly feel a hand on my shoulder, gently touch me. I freeze in my spot as I swallow. “finally…” I hear him whisper. I turn around and look up at him, “w-what? h-how?” I ask shakily. “you finally fell asleep Y/n.” he whispers. “b-but how? I don’t even remember-.” “it doesn’t matter, can we please talk?” he says quietly and pleading. “Matt…” “please?” he whispers once again. I let out a breath and nod slowly, “okay…” I say getting up but turning to still look out the window. he eventually stands next to me as he does the same, “do you really think I wanted this to happen?” he asks quietly, his voice with a hint of sorrow. “if I knew it was going to be so hard for the both of us, if I knew how strong I would feel, when this is just a dream… I wouldn’t have allowed this to happen…” he finishes. I stay silent as I let the breeze from outside hit me. I know this happened without both our knowledge; it really is difficult and I didn’t think about how it was affecting him.

“I know it’s so sudden, and that we don’t even know each other outside of this but, my feelings for you are real Y/n.” he pauses and turns to face me, “but don’t you feel it?” he whispers. I turn to face him as well, looking up at him. he lifts his hand up to my face to push back a strand of hair behind my ear. “tell me you feel the same.” he continues. I look down slightly and bite my lip softly, a bit conflicted but again, he takes my chin and lifts my face up to look up at him. he knows it makes me melt.

“I-I…” I stutter out as my eyes trail down to his lips. I gulp slightly as he leans in closer, “you what?” he whispers, dangerously close. without hesitation, I place my hands on his face, attaching my lips onto his. once again, I feel my heart about to leap out of my chest as he brings his hands down my lower back, pulling me closer to his chest. all of the sudden, we pull away slowly and notice the glow between us getting brighter. “w-what’s happening?” He stutters out as we both look at each other with curiosity. the room begins to light up as the glow has now turned into a bright shining light. we shield our eyes and look away.

I shoot my eyes open as I lift my head up from my knees quickly, looking around. what the fuck just happened? I get up and look out the window. it was still night time. usually it would be daylight when I wake up. I run my hands through my hair as I frantically think. was it the kiss? was that all it took to stop all of this? when I tried to go back to sleep, I woke up not being able to get back into another.

after that kiss, I couldn’t have anymore dreams. what is going on? I haven’t been able to see Matt for days now. as much as I was starting to give up, he finally made me realize he is what I want and now I can’t have him? this is what I was afraid of. right now, it is the first day back to school since winter break just ended. I put on my shoes and head out the door, waiting for Madison.

as soon as she pulls up, I get into the passenger seat and stay silent. I haven’t talked to her ever since our fight. but, she knows better that I don’t have a ride. after a few minutes she breaks the silence, “Y/n i’m sorry okay? but what I said was still true. you can’t possibly fall for someone who isn’t real.” I stay quiet as I look out the window. again feeling conflicted, a part of me wants to just take her word for it but, that kiss felt real. it made me feel things that are unexplainable. “I know you want to believe it’s real and i’m sorry but there’s a bunch of guys out there who will-.” as we pull up to school I suddenly sit up as I lock eyes with a familiar face. Matt? “stop the car Madison.” I say unbuckling my seat belt. “what-.” I cut her off quickly, “just stop the car!” she abruptly stops as I get out the car, walking swiftly over to the familiar face.

“Matt?” I call out which catches the boy’s attention. he looks at me slightly confused. “I can’t believe it… you’re real. you’re actually in front of me…” I whisper as I look at him up and down in disbelief. he chuckles, “sorry to break it to you but, i’m not Matt.” he says. I quickly look back up at his eyes and swallow in embarrassment, “y-you’re not?” I ask feeling a little stupid. “no but, he is.” he says as he points at a boy who gets out the driver’s seat, “Chris I told you not-.” he looks at me and stops his sentence. his expression softens as he walks up to me, “no way…” he whispers.

he gently grabs both of your hands as he looks at you, in shock. “Y/n…” he whispers. you look up at him and you knew. you instantly knew he was the guy in your dreams all this time. the same touch, the same look, and the same feeling you got. “it’s me…” you whisper back with a soft smile. Madison was watching from inside her car with her mouth agape. wondering how this is possible. “it’s really you.” he says as he lifts you up, pulling you into a soft yearning kiss. this moment was nothing like how you felt in your dreams. this was greater than that.

you both never expected this to happen. love was always out of both your guys’ minds. but now, you ask yourself the same question. what is the whole point of love? well… instead of being in your room late at night, dreaming with him endlessly, you now got to feel him and hold him close. this time, for real. you started to finally get it. together you both got it.

ok here's the hot goss from the nycc taz gn panel

i don't actually know whether or not it was recorded/ if they're going to put it online so here is my summary. also if i miss anything and u were there pls feel free to chime in. spoilers obviously!!!

got eight new preview pages (four two-page spreads), not the pages on the macmillan website!!!

ok i will tell u about those pages but the main thing discussed at the panel was how they went about adapting this arc into gn form. the actual time spent in wonderland has been trimmed a lot bc they had to think about what was actually important to the narrative as they are building to story and song.

basically in planning out the suffering game they also really had to decide what the rest of the series would look like, bc whatever they include now is seeding the stuff that's going to happen later.

cam is not in this book. it was implied there's less wheel spins. rowan/ash/sterling get much less screen time

almost half of this book is lunar interlude stuff (pre and post suffering game, INCLUDING REUNION TOUR!!! no word on where it ends but they made it clear that a LOT of thought went into what to include and where to end it, and what that would mean for the next book)

ok so about those preview pages

first one was post-taakitz date with kravitz sensing a lich and the umbra staff shooting at him <3 <3 <3

i thought they were going to show us the preview pages that were on macmillan so when i saw kravitz i was so shook

second spread was magnus visiting the voidfish, which now happens right before they leave for wonderland; the whole beginning of tsg from magnus trying to talk to pringles to him kidnapping those guards to the chimera fight was cut LOL bc it never really got… addressed again in the podcast

angus comes to get him for the mission but magnus has been going Through It (outright stated, they were like. he found out he's a red robe. he would probably not be handling it well. he has eyebags now. LOL) and snaps at angus when angus presses him on what's wrong.

more angus content, he will be investigating what's going on at the bureau more (his scene w magnus ties into this)

same for lucretia! more content/ stuff for her to do

third spread was merle w his kids getting saved by the red robe, is at a carnival instead of a random street this time LOL

last one was the boys arriving just outside of wonderland

what else… oh confirmed like eighty panels of bare ass naked magnus after he gets his body back. so i think we really are getting the full reunion tour this book???

omg ALSO!!! ben (editor) said he campaigned REALLY HARD to have the umbra staff break during the suffering game, freeing lup early, bc he really wanted more time with her, but griffin campaigned really hard NOT to do this, and in doing so his arguments solved a lot of other problems they had been having at the time LOL

travis is the fans' champion when the others get too edit-happy. he's the one who has a good idea of what moments are important to the readers so he's like hey… too far. don't cut that. and then they don't

justin leaves great notes and when they couldn't figure stuff out ben would often say "no it's fine justin will solve this." and he ALWAYS DID

this was news to justin

??? i think that's all the main points honestly i'm v picky about adaptations but overall i feel like these are good changes that make sense when translating the podcast to gn

(Hope that's not too pushy of me -- please take your time and don't let the internet stress you out, I hate seeing creators get harassed by their fans -- but I'm really excited to see what happens next and I'd love to know what your plans are!!)

Hey. I'm really glad to hear you want more Lackadaisy comics. I want to be making them, and I will resume when I'm able! I haven't taken a full day off in...two years? Let alone a weekend. And right now, I'm pretty tied up trying to lay some groundwork for furthering the animated side of things. Fable and I really haven't had a break since the premiere (or before that). It's for good and exciting reasons, but I am very badly in need of a little time to decompress and to take care of some necessary, adult-type stuff, like doctor appointments and home repairs that I've neglected for the past while. I also have some commission work I need to get to, because, well, making animation is expensive. But if you'll bear with me a bit longer, I will get there. And I'll share other Lackadaisy art things, previews of stuff we're working on, and news in the interim!

pairing: bf!jake x gf!reader | wc: 500 | plot: you and Jake finally go on a date to the movies. but don't be late, because he wants to see the previews. | cw: pure fluff and a few kisses hehe

“Babe! Come on, we’re gonna be late,” Jake yelled as he grabbed the keys in his hands.

“No we’re not,” you shouted back. “The most we’ll miss are the previews.”

“Okay? I wanna see the previews too,” he pouted as he walked into the room to see you putting on your jewelry.

“Hmm, okay fine. I’m almost done. Just go wait in the car for me," you said as you saw a bright smile grow across his face.

You rubbed your lips together as you applied your candy-flavored lipgloss before tucking it in your purse.

You slipped into a pair of white tennis shoes before joining your boyfriend in the car.

"You got everything you need?" he asked as you buckled your seatbelt.

"Yup," you smiled as he pulled off. He was taking you out on a date to the movies. It had been a while since you guys did something alone together as a couple so he was really excited about this. To be honest, he was more excited than you.

He drove into the parking lot of the venue before hopping out of the car and coming around to open your door.

"Come on, let's gaurrr," he said, playfully pulling you out of the car as he grabbed your hands and took off running straight for the entrance.

"Hey d'you wanna go pick out the snacks while I get our tickets?" he asked giving you that confused puppy look he always had whenever he was feeling a bit indecisive. "Or I could go get the snacks while you get the tickets. Or umm..."

"I'll go get the snacks," you chuckled. "You just worry about the tickets, okay."

"Okay, thanks babe," he smiled before kissing you on the lips. His eyes widened as your lips parted. You watched as he licked his lips with one eyebrow raised.

"What?" you asked as you covered your mouth slightly with your hand.

"Your lips are sweet," he chuckled. "Sweet like candy."

"Oh," you sighed in relief. "I just tried out this new lipgloss I bought at the mall the other day."

"Well, I like it," he bit his lips softly before leaning in to kiss you again.

"The next viewing will start in 15 minutes," an announcer's voice said over the speakers.

"Oh, shoot!" he spat, raising his wrist to look at his watch. "I haven't even bought the tickets yet. You go get the snacks and I'll meet you back over here as soon as I finish, okay."

"Hehe, okay," you smiled as he ran off.

You grabbed a large popcorn, two sodas, and a couple packs of candy before meeting up with Jake under the stained glass dome in the middle of the cinema.

"Did you get extra butter?" he asked as he saw the large tub wrapped in one of your arms.

"Yup."

"Cheese?"

"Yes," you chuckled.

"Gummies?"

"Oh my god, yes babe," you laughed, handing him the bucket of extra buttery popcorn.

Spy x Family Preview Manga Translated

Hey everyone! For quite some time, I've been aware of the preview manga for Spy x Family, which was published in Weekly Shonen Jump (WSJ) back during its debut.

From what I know, the one that has been available for a long time was the scanlation taken from a Korean site. Not discrediting the work of the scanlator, but there were parts in there that seemed off to me. So just today, I looked for the original preview manga online and happened to find it on a Japanese blog. And so, I've taken the liberty of translating this. I've also uploaded this to Mangadex and am waiting for it to get published. But for now, you can read the pages here. Enjoy reading!

Do you mean fanfiction?? I'll admit I haven't really been reading Sonic fics outside of friends' stories, friends' recs and for participation in random events since 2022 or so. But I think I can!

Shadow the Hedgehog has decidedly left the past behind, but his guilt still haunts him and intrudes on his life. This is how he comes to realize that living in itself, is much more than just survival and following old promises. Life has much more to throw at him that weird monsters and life threatening scenarios- there's also a pesky blue annoyance.

Still one of the most memorable endings to a story, that makes me randomly remember about it in the middle of doing everyday tasks and think about angsty what-ifs... Extra points for Shadow & G.U.N. interactions, I'm an enjoyer of occupational novels, and there's a bit of it there; many details of Sonic & Shadow interactions I loved, too. But most of all, amazing Shadow's characterisation and development arc 🙏

A swirl of white marks his ankle: Sonic has never given it much thought, except when Tails brings it up. If he meets this soulmate, he'll welcome them with open arms. If he doesn't? Well, it's too bad, but Sonic can live with that. ---- Shadow never wants to meet his soulmate. They will only ever be disappointed by him and the fact that he's only a monster in mobian skin.

Soulmate AUs are a rarity for this ship, and I love Soulmate AUs 💜 This one dives into the hedgehogs' in-AU backstories as well which is always interesting to read about!

Sonic kisses Shadow out of nowhere... And if this is what could happen in canon, this is how it would happen. This is how they would react. With a slightly bittersweet aftertaste 🥺

It's the newest excuse he thought of in hopes that he could prolong the game a little more; a careful ruse to enjoy the bittersweet torture of seeing the days pass them by, while he pretends he doesn't seek azure blue whenever he's restless. At first, all he wanted to do was watch: but now the desire to touch, to have, to affect is at a point where he's not sure whether reaching for Sonic would truly be fruitless. He wonders that especially when Sonic's eyes light up upon seeing him. When he corners Shadow, when he invades his space and he touches and takes and then excuses it by calling it a fight. Shadow truly wonders then: if only he was brave enough to reach out, what would his grip find? Loose stars or a battle-worn body? Standing up, he glances at Sonic again, whose eyes have now met his own. There's something heavy in the eye contact, something Shadow doesn't dare name. Neither of them say anything, and yet Sonic's eyes move away from him again, like they did. Shadow warps away, hiding from the stars once more.

M-rated for sexual tension and general horniness! So much UST, guys... Sonic and Shadow's dynamics is so special here, with both of them being aro as well. There's so much queer intimacy that I just can't explain the vibe of, just that it's special. The plot is so suspenseful and full of intrigue – I was running to read every update when this story was ongoing. It all starts with Shadow losing his body to some entity, and no one knows that it happened...

Sonic and Shadow weren't like other couples. A bit outside the box. But with a look at a few moments in their relationship, maybe then people can see just how much they shine together.

Truly a Christmas fairy tale for Shadow with beautiful writing, great pacing and a pinch of very specific sort of angst. Soft and warm in the end...

Shadow didn't make a big deal of it at all, so Sonic tries to drop it too. Unfortunately being a reckless adventure-seeking teenager who doesn't care about dangers unless others get involved, makes Shadow's latest trick seem really cool. Fascinating, let's stick with that. Sonic gets kinda stuck on the idea of Shadow being immortal.

Sonic discovers Shadow's immortality while Shadow realises the implications of his own immortality on his relationships 🥺 Beautiful fic... Also there's Shadow hanging out with everyone which is cool!

Dreaming during sleep paralysis is a scary thing.

If you were anything else, the man could probably put you in an early grave with the force of the glares he'd give sometimes. All in all, Mr. Robotnik and Mr. Maurice were about as opposite as you could get. Where Mr. Robotnik was all grumpy faces and eternal anger, Mr. Maurice was bright and energetic - rarely seen without a smile on his face, and always in a good mood. Which is why it was so odd that not only did Mr. Maurice willingly choose to spend his free time sitting in with Mr. Robotnik, but that there seemed to be an ungodly amount of capital T /Tension/ between the two.

This is just absolutely ✨perfect✨👌 Like, "written for me" perfect. Relatable, same headcanons, my fav tropes, etc. In the story Sonic and Shadow work as high school teachers in the future, and their students feel this tension between them… OC-centric!
