SPY x FAMILY Season 3! New Visual and Air Date Announced!

Words cannot express how happy I am right now when I hear "Spy x Family" and "October 4, 2025". I'M SO EXCITED FOR THE NEW SEASON. OCTOBER, PLEASE COME SOON!!
Just like the first visual, also drawn by character designer Kazuaki Shimada, there are many references to chapters/arcs that will be adapted into the anime, but now with even MORE characters! There are some noticeable characters missing looking at you, Melinda, but what we have now is already amazing enough, so I'll give it a pass before their big reveals. This season is looking pretty stacked in terms of content, so I'm really looking forward to it!

the auction: part 1
i got sick of sitting on these pages so i thought maybe posting them would motivate me to continue 💀 the main issue i was facing was thinking up the logistics of the auction itself, as well as the reasoning behind another thing that i can't say without spoiling it (but maybe you will be able to guess it if you know which specific post of mine kicked this whole thing off LMAO). Anyways. i sure hope part 2 comes soon!

Spy x Family Volume 14's Timeline
Not sure if this was mentioned anywhere, but the English version of Volume 14 was released earlier this month. Meaning we have the official English version of Endo's heavily redacted timeline of events.
As a self-proclaimed SxF lore junkie, this was a treat for me, especially. The names for the wars are known as the "East-West War of Unification", which was something mentioned way back in chapter 98, so I'm glad we have that down now. For some reason (perhaps to hide it to volume-only readers? I got no clue lol), the number of wars is redacted, even though Martha later states in ch 102 (which is in vol 15) that there was a second war. Now this isn't to say that there couldn't have been major conflicts in the past (there's a reason they want a war for "unification" to begin with), but I think it's important to note that we currently know of only two major wars that have affected our cast.
One thing that should be noted though, is that the timeline says Martha joined the Women's Defense Auxiliary around 22 years old. Based on the kanji from the JP version, it should be saying the Women's Combat Battalion, which makes more sense when you think about it.
I remember when the timeline first came out, I mistook the person Loid met after getting recruited into the West's Military Intelligence as the WISE Director, but it turns out it was Sylvia. Oops on that part lol.
Aside from the obviously redacted stuff and Franky's poor dating record, this timeline was a joy to go through over again, and I'm really looking forward to seeing more of Spy x Family's history, especially with the Desmond family after the latest chapter released.
Until next time!

Spy x Family workbook scans - part 6
The next new SxF workbook was recently released, which teaches how to write katakana. Once again, I made scans of some of my favorite illustrations!
Never enough cute Forger family moments~

I really like this one of what seems to be a family vacation in Africa(?) 👀 Yor ready to kick that alligator away from Anya, and Loid rowing down the river with some NPC-looking dude.

There were actually a good number of Loid & Anya scenes~

The chihuahua gag makes an appearance! Also this is now one of my favorite Anya faces 🤣

Franky not too happy about that totally head-empty snail in his hair 😂

Surprise appearance by young Henry and Martha!

Cute pics of Bond - looking like he's doing a bellyflop, and getting cleaned by Yor ❤️

Anya in some pretty outfits (also the scene of her offering her handkerchief to Damian😅)

Becky daydreaming about Loid, probably.

My favorite Loid & Yor pics from the book~

He got her a gift ❤️

And lastly, Yor & Anya in cute seaside-themed outfits~ I like the anchor earrings and necklaces.

Spy x Family Short Mission: Exhibition (updated version)
Those of you who have been following my blog for a while might remember the very first omake translation I did, which was for the 4-page manga from the SxF exhibition pamphlet that came out about 2 years ago. Since it was my first translation, I did a very amateurish job looking back - the typesetting was awful and I didn't even think to put my name on it (so I later saw it spread on Twitter and other sites without credit). But @rafaron1223 was kind enough to give it a total makeover for me, pasting my (slightly updated) translations on better scans and adding more professional looking typesetting. So here it is! If you haven't read this cute, 4th wall-breaking chapter before, enjoy! (and if you did read it way back when I first posted it, I hope you enjoy it again 😀)

Until Everything Blows Up in Your Face
(Some spoilers ahead!)
Hi friends! 👋 After chapter 120, I couldn't help but reflect a bit on our beloved Twilight and how his character arc is being shaped.
From the very beginning, Twilight’s identity has revolved around his deep conviction that love and a “normal life” simply aren’t meant for him.
It’s no coincidence that, in the very first episode, while he's playing the role of Robert, the entire focus of the scene centers around one simple question:
“Have you ever thought about getting married?”
From the very beginning, this rejection of emotional attachment is framed as a core pillar of Twilight’s character. Saying goodbye to Karen doesn’t faze him. And yet, there’s one line that gives him away:
It’s not that love doesn’t exist—it’s that he’s chosen to ignore it. To suppress it. Because opening up emotionally means revisiting a pain he’s not ready to face.
Love isn’t foreign to him. It crosses his mind, of course. But he’s made the conscious choice to push it away. Because loving means risk—and he already knows what it feels like to lose everything.
If we briefly revisit his childhood:
Redacted was a child who was emotionally open, sensitive, expressive… traits that didn’t fit in a world on the verge of war. His father—stern and rigid—seemed determined to toughen him up, perhaps thinking it would protect him. But all it really did was build a wall between them. His mother, on the other hand, was his first safe haven: a warm, gentle presence who taught him what it meant to feel secure. And then there were his childhood friends, those who shared his games and held onto the last fragments of his innocence.
One by one, they all disappeared from his life.
After that complete loss, Redacted didn’t just change his name—he changed the way he exists. He became someone who lives to avoid pain, who hides behind his mission, behind lies and roles. Because if everything is just an act, then nothing can really hurt him.
And what about Yor?
At this point in the story, it’s impossible to ignore it: Twilight has slipped, stumbled, and continues to fall emotionally every time Yor is involved. And we’re not just talking about subtle gestures—his actions betray him, over and over again.
From trying to seduce her in the most awkward way possible, to opening up about his mother and his real childhood. From defending her when others criticize her, to sparing Yuri’s life—even though he poses a direct threat to his mission. And let’s not forget his constant need to protect her, his concern for every little gesture she makes, or the way he completely falls apart just from seeing her smile.
Twilight already knows that Yor affects him deeply.
She invades his thoughts to an overwhelming degree. She unsettles him, moves him, throws him off balance. And the worst part—or perhaps the most revealing—is that what he truly wants is simple: for her to be okay.
To be happy with their family (with him)—all under the convenient excuse of keeping the mission on track.
Even at this point, Nightfall is the one who knows better than anyone: Twilight isn’t acting normal—not when it comes to Yor.
Twilight doesn’t think like a spy when it comes to Yor. He loses all objectivity, and his emotions override his training. He doesn’t act with precision or calculation—he acts like a clumsy, insecure man with no real emotional tools to navigate this.
Just look at the level of anxiety attacks this man goes through… It’s a complete mess
In fact, Yor’s emotions shouldn’t matter, as long as she continues to see their agreement as viable and plays her part. And yet, Twilight feels that she’s not truly satisfied with him—that something’s missing....And that thought eats away at him.
What he tries to resolve with logic ends up as emotional chaos. Because Twilight isn’t an efficient spy around Yor—he’s a man who constantly fails at keeping control.
So, when will he finally admit what he feels?
Probably a thousand chapters from now… because Endo clearly enjoys watching us suffer slowly.
I have a feeling Twilight is destined to experience a much longer, more intimate, and more painful character arc than we might expect. One where the very emotions he’s repressed will eventually explode in his face.
Accepting what he feels won’t be easy. For him, falling in love isn’t just “letting his guard down”—it means breaking away from everything he has become. Twilight doesn’t just live as a spy—he is his mission. He’s built his existence on an unspoken vow: “I won’t allow myself to lose again.”
And in order not to lose, he chose not to love. In order not to love, he chose not to feel.
What’s interesting is that, unlike his past as a soldier—where he did grow disillusioned with the system and lost his motivation—he has yet to question his role as a spy. He hasn’t reflected on his own humanity beyond the success of his missions. But it’s only a matter of time. Because loving Yor and Anya will eventually lead to something far greater: facing his guilt.
We’ve already seen, in small moments, how his guilt toward Anya affects him. So the idea of possibly being rejected by them too must be eating away at him.
That conversation between McMahon and Yor suddenly makes even more sense: How will Twilight cope with the idea of his family discovering the truth? Could they accept him? Could he accept that Yor is an assassin? How will he process the fact that Anya was an experiment—and that, silently, she’s known everything from the very beginning?
I get the feeling that the more he tries to get closer to Yor (while still trying to avoid his own feelings), the deeper he’ll sink into a hole of denial he won’t be able to escape. Every step he takes toward connection, trust, or vulnerability will only drag him further into the emptiness he’s been trying so hard not to face
Even if, at some point, Yor opens up to him—and he plays with her feelings (consciously or not)—let’s hope not—the most likely outcome is self-sabotage. He’ll pull back. He’ll shut down even more. Because that’s what he’s always done: build walls. Fake kindness. Run away, dressed as a functional man.
Until there’s nowhere left to run.
And then, without disguises, without masks, without an escape… his feelings will explode in the worst possible way—right in his face.

Hemlock the Lonely
Chapter 117 of Spy x Family is here!
Holy cow, Hemlock's such a loser. I love him. I hope he's able to lock in and get back to business in the next few chapters, but I can't see it happening after what Yor did to him.

AHHHHH!!! As always, the illustrations are all so adorable. It's also really cool that they're getting into adapting manga material. I better see at least one of the Desmonds in the next books.
Spy x Family workbook scans - part 4
After making scans of the three SxF workbooks that were released last year, I was surprised to find out that more were being made 😀 Two of them just came out (for teaching English), with a third releasing next month. Like the previous books, these include a ton of adorable chibi art of the SxF characters, some repeat illustrations I already scanned from the previous books, but plenty of new ones too! Here are scans of my favorites:

Always love all the wholesome Forger art~ Again, the books are made for teaching English to kids, hence the (sometimes awkward) English sentences accompanying the images 😅

I couldn't help but snicker at this next one. The simplified English just makes it even more unintentionally funny 😂 Poor Yor.

A reference to the cruise arc! (something the little kids reading this book probably shouldn't watch, lol)

Reference to the tennis arc!

Tiny running Yor - look at her go ❤️

These two images were kinda random - Anya and Yor helping a tourist? And Loid eating at a cafe by himself.

Love Loid's face here! Not sure why they translated dalcs to "darks" though.

Omg, Becky 🤣 Again, the stiff, simple English makes it even funnier.

The artist captured Anya and Damian's expressions in chibi form very well.

Was so happy to see a Twiyor drawing! But I don't think "shy" is the word I'd use here 😂

Some Damianya too.

What was most surprising to me about these two new books is the amount of references to manga-only chapters. The artist even made sure to have them wearing the right outfits! They're definitely a SxF manga fan, lol. I can't believe I have to spoiler-tag this post 😅 The manga-only images are...
The Eden gala (this is such an adorable drawing!)

Yor holding all the boxes at the charity bizarre. She even has the armband!

Young Martha doing ballet (like the cruise arc, her arc is definitely not for the little kids who will read this book, lol)

Yor and Anya helping Sigmund.

And Sylvia with Aaron.

Fiona finally makes an appearance in one of these books! Playing a flute...kinda random, but why not.

And lastly, some cute Anya, Becky, and Damian.

Like I mentioned, there's going to be one more book released next month, which I'm also planning to buy and scan. So stay tuned~

SPY x FAMILY's Initial Plot
As previously mentioned in my last post, I found a magazine from 2020 featuring a segment with Endo discussing Spy x Family. In my last post, I shared the drafts of the volume covers, but now I want to dive into the really interesting bit here (that I've found for now lol) that is the manga's initial plot.
Spoilers for the manga ahead, as I'll discuss some of those here.

There are many things one can see when comparing it to the manga's current story, but keep in mind that this is merely an initial version of the story, and some things that are written here may not be indicative of what's to possibly come to the future of the story, but is still good discussion nevertheless to see what could have been.
This story has three parts, let's begin with the first:
So we can already see here that "A" aka Loid is a lot different in this version compared to what we have now. He retains his womanizing skills but is not a very good spy. Which is an interesting thing to do, but I just kind of think of Daybreak when I hear "not a good spy" lol. Though I got no idea if Daybreak has any charming skills in the SxF world lol. In any case, I think it would have been interesting to see how a less-skilled version of Loid would solve the conflicts that the current Loid has faced so far.
Another part is how this version Operation Strix (which more or less has the same goal) and the formation of the Forger Family was going to be handled. As this version of Loid was unfit to take on the mission, it was instead going to be assigned to another agent with an actual family. But because of Loid wanting to take credit for the mission, he decides to create his own family. I think seeing Loid acting more selfishly like this is very fascinating, as it's something I can't really see current Loid doing.
Also, Endo having Loid start creating the family by finding a wife first is an interesting choice, but I can see why he went for the child in the current version. It's a much stronger start.
Now we move on to the second part:
"B" aka Yor is very interesting to compare to her current version. Her reason for becoming an assassin is very different here, with Yor on a revenge quest to find the person who killed her family, which is part of the reason why she decides to stick with Loid. But aspects like her secretly desiring a normal life and falling for Loid during their first meeting are the same (though the idea of Loid immediately flirting with her is very funny). There is also Yor working as an office lady, which seems pretty similar to her city hall job. I remember Endo saying in the EYES ONLY fanbook that she was originally a janitor, perhaps this script was written after he scrapped that idea?
As a side note, knowing that Yuri's character was simply going to be just "Yor's brother" before Endo combined him with the SSS officer hunting Twilight by the time he got to chapter 10, I wonder how he would have played into this version of the story.
And for the third and final part:
To start, it seems like Endo always intended to set this story in a post-war era. He may have already mentioned it before in other media, but I can't remember, someone please remind me 😂
As for "C" aka Anya, there's a lot going on here. Usually we don't get a lot of Anya's backstory, so getting this draft version is really cool to see. In the current story, we never know what the lab is and how exactly Anya managed to escape it, but this version explains that she is a government experiment (which at this point I'm pretty sure we all think this lol) and escaped the lab with her telepathy. Reading how the orphanage she stays at afterward feels pretty similar to the condition we see it in chapter 1, but I imagine that's why Endo had some ideas to draw her as sickly at the start. Also interesting to note that she instinctively knew that it was a good place to hide from the government. For however old she's supposed to be, she's a pretty clever girl.
Anya also missing her parents seems to be an aspect of her character that remains in the current version of the story, though it's more about her mother than both of her parents.
Later, when Loid comes to the orphanage to adopt, pretty much the same scenes play out except that Anya hears the name of her parents in Loid's mind (or Yor's, seems like there was a possibility of her being there with him), which motivates her to get adopted by him, thus completing this pseudo family.
It's interesting that this version of Anya remembers her parents' names while our current Anya doesn't seem to at all (as far as we know). Makes me wonder if this version of Anya was slightly older, perhaps being an actual 6-year-old's age if the school admission plotline was a thing during the writing of this plot.
Endo has also stated in the EYES ONLY fanbook that Anya was originally going to have some sort of superpowers, and seeing the combination of telepathy and a little bit of telekinesis is wild. I wonder if Endo will ever revisit telekinesis and give it to Anya later down the line, but I'm not sure if I'd like that.
It also seems like Loid would have been slightly aware of Anya's abilities, but brushed it aside.
Regarding the final line of the plot: "C"'s target is a lieutenant general. It's a simple line, but there's nothing we can go off from here I think. But knowing that this version of the story states that Anya's experiments were headed by the government, I can imagine her remembering a particular figurehead from there, that being this lieutenant general.
All in all, I really enjoyed having to translate, read, and share this draft version of the story! Getting to see Endo-sensei's older versions of the characters we know as the Forger Family w
as super cool to see! The next post related to this will hopefully be the last, the entire 6 page interview with Endo-sensei, but I promise to deliver! Thank you for your patience, and I hope to see you guys next post!

I'M BACK FOR MORE SXF CONTENT!
To preface, a month ago, I learned about an interview with Tatsuya Endo on Spy x Family on a magazine that came out in 2020. Well, today I finally got it!
There were a lot of cool illustrations and drafts from the early days of Spy x Family that I don't think have reached a lot of the fans in the West due to this being a JP magazine.
The article is a whopping 8 pages! 6/8 of them is the actual interview, but there's so much text in here that it'll take me a while to translate the whole thing.
And before I forget, I present this Anya doodle by Endo for the interview.
I'll be gradually sharing my first impressions about the contents of this interview, but I'd like to dedicate this post to this particular section featuring the initial cover designs!
We'll start backwards with the one that stands out the most: Franky on Volume 4. This is just a speculation, but it seems like he was still planned to be the uncle at the time of this drawing. You can also see him sitting on an LC7 Swivel Chair, which is designed by the same person who designed the Grand Confort LC2 Petit Modèle armchair that we see Loid sitting on in Volume 1. And if Endo taught us anything about characters sitting on different chairs made by the same designer, they're pretty good friends.
In our current day, I think it's really funny that it took Franky four more volumes to finally get his own cover. God bless him.
Next is Yor on Volume 3, who, interestingly enough, is sitting on the sitting on a Heart Cone Chair, which is currently used by Fiona on the Volume 6 cover. Compared to the current version, Yor appears to have a more serene look, and the poses are quite similar. You can also see the aspect of blood stains on the floor remaining in the current version of Volume 3.
As for Anya on Volume 2, compared to the final version, she's dressed in her regular clothes rather than her Eden Academy uniform, and Mr. Chimera is seated at her right instead of her left. The pose is also different too, with Anya sitting with spread legs with her hands in front of her.
Also, it was stated by Endo before in the Eyes Only fanbook that the colors on the Marshmallow Sofa in Volume 2 are an original addition, so it's interesting to see the actual black and white colors used in this draft.
And last but not least, we have Loid. I saved him for last since his cover had a lot of versions that I think are worth looking at.
A lot of things are pretty similar here, with Loid sitting on a Grand Confort LC2 Petit Modèle armchair with a gun in his right hand (the pic quality doesn't show it, but trust me, he is) while staring forward. As for differences, Loid starts off in a pose with open legs while holding a mask in his left hand. Also, something that should be mentioned is that the detail of the characters hiding items under their chair seems to be absent.
Below is the process of how Endo-sensei got to Volume 1's final design. The first draft had Loid crossing his legs while holding his face with his hand. In the second, he's spreading his legs and holding a hat this time. You can also see the bullet casings at his feet. Maybe a prelude to the "under the chair" aspects of the volume covers? According to the captions, Endo drew these drafts on Clip Studio Paint. These drafts got rejected and we end up getting Loid in his iconic pose, which was developed into what we see now.
can't believe we lost manspreading Loid but oh well
As for the bottom half, these are other considered designs during the draft. The first and third covers look pretty plain and generic, but the second one is pretty reminiscent of the Forger's family portrait while the fourth reminds me of this extra page from Volume 4. But I can see why these designs were scrapped by Endo. Though I can see the second cover getting a cover near the end of the manga in the future, or something like that.
Overall, these images were really interesting to look at! I love looking at the drafts of Spy x Family and seeing where things could have gone. Though I'm pretty bugged that this magazine came out 5 years ago and I'm only learning about it now.
The next post will be about Endo's initial plot for Spy x Family! Look forward to it!

Spy x Family miscellaneous collab scans - part 12
Here's the last batch of scans from the SxF Jump Festa merch I bought - a 5-piece set of bromide cards, featuring the Forgers baking 🍰

Also wanted to mention, for those of you who remember the SxF workbooks I made scans of last year, new ones are going to be released this year too 😃 Two are coming out on May 26th and another in early July. Of course I'm planning to get them and make scans! I love the chibi artwork, plus they're great supplements my Japanese studies. Hopefully these workbooks will have a lot of new art and won't rehash too much of the old ones.

So Mangadex took my scan down...
Sad as it may be, I still have the pages lol, so I'm happy that it's still here! I've also updated the pages a bit to make it a bit cleaner/nicer, so I hope you enjoy as always!
Spy x Family Preview Manga Translated
Hey everyone! For quite some time, I've been aware of the preview manga for Spy x Family, which was published in Weekly Shonen Jump (WSJ) back during its debut.
From what I know, the one that has been available for a long time was the scanlation taken from a Korean site. Not discrediting the work of the scanlator, but there were parts in there that seemed off to me. So just today, I looked for the original preview manga online and happened to find it on a Japanese blog. And so, I've taken the liberty of translating this. I've also uploaded this to Mangadex and am waiting for it to get published. But for now, you can read the pages here. Enjoy reading!
