There was a recent post of a '51 Henry which garnered some comments about the version Sears sold as the Allstate so I thought would post this. This is an early '52 Allstate. Just as the Henry J, the Allstate could be equipped with a 4 cylinder or 6 cylinder engine and just as the Henry J the Allstate could be equipped with or without a trunk lid. I know Wikipedia says that Allstates were equipped with a locking glove box but that's not true. All Allstates were equipped with a glove box but, just like the Henry J, the glove box did not have a lock. Alex Tremulis of Tucker fame was brought in by KF to do the "Make-over" on the Henry J to make it different than the Allstate. Allstates have different grill work, hood ornament and the early ones had tail light lenses which were unique to the Allstate. Any Henry J badging was replaced with "Allstate" badging and all the "K" emblems that identified it as a Kaiser were blanked out. Allstates were equipped with Sears battery, coil, tires, spark plugs and just as the Henry J, heater, radio, signal lights were add-ons and Sears often installed their own. While Allstate cars were listed in the Sears catalog, they could not be purchased through the catalog, you had to go into the store (they were only sold in selected stores in selected states as they were testing the concept) to purchase one. I hope this clears things up.
Happy Birthday! Henry J. Kaiser was born on May 9, 1882. He was an American industrialist who became known for his shipbuilding and construction projects. Kaiser was involved in the construction industry; his company was one of those that built the Hoover Dam. He established the Kaiser Shipyards, which built Liberty ships during World War II, after which he formed Kaiser Aluminum and Kaiser Steel.
In 1945, Kaiser partnered with veteran automobile executive Joseph Frazer to establish a new automobile company from the remnants of Graham-Paige, of which Frazer had been president. The new company was named Kaiser-Frazer. It used a surplus Ford Motor Company defense plant at Willow Run, Michigan originally built for WWII aircraft production by Ford. Kaiser-Frazer produced cars under the Kaiser and Frazer names until 1955, when it abandoned the U.S. market and moved production to Argentina. Although In 1953, Kaiser purchased Willys-Overland, manufacturer of the Jeep line of utility vehicles, and continued building Jeeps, changing its name to Willys Motors. In 1963, the name was changed again to Kaiser-Jeep, which was ultimately sold to American Motors Corporation in 1970.
Henry J. Kaiser’s foray into the automotive industry was a bold and ambitious endeavour that began in the mid-1940s. Although his efforts in the auto sector were ultimately short-lived compared to his other business ventures, they were marked by innovation and a determination to challenge the established giants of the industry.

I think what a lot of j&h adaptations get wrong, is that ultimately, Jekyll is, at heart. A Cunt. Lots of adaptations like to write him as an innocent scientist, who got more than he bargained for when he drank the potion, and unleashed a monster, but in the novella, the only thing the potion really does, is change Jekyll's appearance. He created Hyde, and I think he had the opportunity to make Hyde into something good, but, because he's a cunt, he chose to use his alter ego as a force for evil and chaos. "Edward Hyde was alone in the ranks of evil"- of course he was, you never allowed him to be anything else. And Jekyll is fully aware of what he does as Hyde, he says it himself in his full statement, and he feels no remorse. He didn't create Hyde accidentally, he made Hyde because he wanted to do bad things and get away with it, without damaging his reputation.
Me when my friend casually said "They'll never separate Jekyll from Hyde, he was right. When you talk about them, you always say "Jekyll and Hyde", it's never only Jekyll or only Hyde. No one knows who they are if you don't say them together, they're nobody without each other" and I. Why would you say that to me.
Jekyll is doomed to always be known as/for the thing he regrettably created. He won't be known for his great science, but for his tragic tale. And Hyde is doomed to never be his own person, but an extension of Jekyll. As Jekyll's regrettable creation. Jekyll will never know peace in his afterlife, never be redeemed for his sins. Hyde will forever haunt him. He tried so desperately to disconnect himself from Hyde's identity, enough to kill himself, and yet years of literature + many adaptations later, he cannot escape Hyde. Cannot escape himself. And Hyde cannot break his bond with Jekyll, he's always going to have to return to that docile state. He says that he's free as Hyde, but what kind of freedom is that. They're stuck together. Forever.
Guys what if I started sobbing at Jekyll and his evilsona gone wrong. What would happen. "They're nobody without each other" you have to be kidding me. They're. hhrhrhg. Doomed by the narrative. I'm so sorry babygirls. Babygirl.
