i would like to say my ideal PJO adaptation (if i was being physically forced against my will to have to pick a live action adaptation over an animated one for some reason) would be a combo like writing of the musical + casting of the show + visuals of the movies

BUT the show actually does have the playwright for the musical as one of the major writers for like three episodes and that did nothing for it. so...

somebody besides me who remembers my other silly little OCs... that's a shocker! 👀✨

unfortunately like most of my other stuff that got pushed to the wayside once the Pizza Tower hyperfixation started, i kinda just didn't know what to do with him. but, i have been wanting to bring some of them back, Herring included! i still have a soft spot for that little guy, i just need to figure out how to fit him in. (fun fact, did you know that Herring was one of many father-figures that Eyhm's had over time? ✨)

there's not really a lot that hasn't been said, he's simply a little fishy guy trying to go throughout life while dealing with the fact that he's living in a world where most creatures are several feet tall... and he's only a few inches. (even smaller than Eyhm is now...)

but, if i were to try and fit him back into my Pizza Tower canon, i think i've got a silly way of doing it... :

one day, Fake Peppino decides he wants to get Eyhm a special treat, he's very loving and caring for her after all! he's heard from the others that kitties like fish, so, he goes out to go find one for her. but when he shows back up to the pizzeria he's caught something very strange... a tiny little fish, but it's squirming and crying out to be let free in perfect English. where in the world did Fakey find this...? obviously Eyhm really doesn't want to eat him, not something that's living and talking like this. and so she takes to acting like Fakey's brought her a new friend... friends are not for eating after all! (but, how frightening it must be, to be a fish cornered by both an enormous beast and a cat... no worries though, he will be safe with Eyhm!)

you know what, I actually will talk about this because it's bothering me. The issue with focussing so heavily on syd and carmy's potential for a romantic relationship isn't that there's something inherently unintellectual about romance or whatever, it's that a lot of people seem incapable of doing that without immediately flattening the story and ignoring or intentionally misreading any and all nuance for the sake of that romance. Every scene suddenly becomes about how it impacts their relationship, every analysis is done through a romantic lens, every frame or line of dialogue becomes about finding some easter egg or hint that "proves" these people should start dating. Their dynamic is absolutely a fundamental part of this show, but if you can only see it as a will-they-won't-they, you miss so much of what the story is actually trying to say with these two.

There are good versions of this story where their relationship is romantic and there are good versions of this story where it isn't, but as soon as you decide them being together is "the point," you lose the ability to actually judge the story for what it is, not what you want it to be.

it really is SUCH a shame that there’s no episode of TOS where the enterprise crew time jumps to Regency-era England or goes to a planet that modeled its culture on that era or something, because it would truly slap for every single main character. Like I don’t even have to explain why this would be awesome for Spock— Mr. I’ll-smash-a-computer-with-my-bare-hands-before-I’ll-admit-I’m-horny himself, king of repression, who basically recreated the famous Pride and Prejudice Hand Flex Scene™️ with his beloved Captain that one time, who meets a blind woman with a high tech gown that helps her “see” and LITERALLY tells her to give his compliments to her dressmaker, who mislead a woman once about his affections and tenderly promised to safeguard her reputation forever about it, who has the perfect angular features to be set off by a cravat—I mean, you get it, but then you’ve also got Kirk—handsome, affable, brave Naval captain who loves his crew more than himself, who falls in like deep profound love with every woman the plot throws at him—and then McCoy—cantankerous, sure, (ever heard of a grumpy/sunshine trope??) but with impeccable, downright old school manners towards women and, yeah, a doctor’s not that prestigious in Regency times, but for like a young lady in trouble who needs the protection of a man’s name or who just wants to piss off her stuffy aristocrat family by marrying “beneath” them, who could be better? If you throw Scotty in the mix, well, he’s Scottish, which [points at a whole subgenre of regency romance novels] is all he’d really need. I’m just saying they would have CLEANED UP, okay??

no, actually my least favorite thing about watching thai dramas while speaking & understanding thai... is that the dialects never match up 😭😭😭 if a character is from a non-central province, they'll have their whole family speak in northern/southern/isaan dialect while the main character, who's played by an actor from bangkok, will unexplainably not have any remnants of his native dialect when he speaks even though he was born & raised in the area and often time never even left... that shit breaks the fourth wall to me, like... why even hire an actor who doesn't fit the role fully, I don't get it 😭
