Hi! So firstly I want to be a little direct (I hope I'm not being rude 😓) and ask if you're religious and if you practice witchcraft? When I started reading jodt I was pleasantly surprised to see the real life wicca holidays and traditional way of decorating for Yule. You even put in the candle language!!! 🕯️🕯️ (Even if a bit sneaky) It made me, a modern witch, feel seen in a work of fan made, free, easy consuming content. So I wanted to ask if it was a classic writer-researched-a-bit-too-much or you practiced it yourself. Sorry if the question made you uncomfortable .
Secondly I have say you're doing very well with everything and I admire the way you always interact on here and post something almost every day! Just make sure you can rest and have time for your offline life ❤️🔮 Blessed be
Ahhh!!! Merry meet! You are not being rude at all, and tysm for noticing🥺🫶 (it was a bit cheeky of me, wasn't it?😈)
Would I say I'm a witch? ....Sort of? I'd call myself a novice to the craft at best. I'm not explicitly religious, I don’t have an altar or worship any deities.
I dabble! I'm fascinated by witchcraft and wicca, and my family's always been quite witchy at heart.
I've done a couple of spells here and there, nothing huge. Like I said, I dabble... and RESEARCH THE HECK OUT IT🔮✨️
And Joanne really fucked up by having her magic world celebrate Christmas and Easter etc... I get that the Muggle world has blended alot with it when HP takes place -- and it is all from Harry’s pov -- but why would pureblooded witches and wizards celebrate Muggle Christian holidays? Especially families like the Malfoys.
As a witchy person, it just made no sense to me. The eight sabbats predate the christian holidays... Good thing the canon story is all from Harry’s perspective, huh? I saw my opportunity and I took it! 🤣
Also tysm, you're so sweet 🥺💕
Blessed be!🫶

Just now realizing (while trying to write my own fic) that in order for me to plan out a new government and world under Voldemort I first need to plan out the old government and world it’s replacing. 🫠
(And I can’t use the one in Harry Potter bc SOMEONE sucks at world building and so we know close to nothing concrete about anything and it doesn’t help that the story is told through a child)

As amazing as Fantastic Beast is with all of the interesting creatures and additional lore, I loathe the take on the American Magical World. And not because American pride (‘Merica🇺🇸🦅🇺🇸🦅🇺🇸🦅) but because that might work in New York, but that social structure sure as fuck don’t work the farther west you get.
Each state is different, it gives them their charms, and each state also has… drumroll please 🥁🥁🥁🥁
NATIVE AMERICANS!!! Yes the people who’ve been on these lands since before the first of the 13 colonies even existed!!!
Can you imagine Magical America? The creatures who lived alongside tribes? The giant forests? Hell, the other sentient beings like the centaurs, goblins, elves, etc.? Imagine:
The great Rivers and Lakes guarded by the merfolk and swimming with the great salmons, occasionally assisting the tribes along their borders so they all may share what the waters have to offer them
The great Plains and Forests with centaur tribes being mighty and powerful, guardians of the lands and occasionally allying with the human tribes
Elves that are still short but mighty and healthy and who get mistaken for native children when they live alongside human tribes
Goblins living deep in the caves of mountains, living happily with little human interaction besides for trading for safe passages and materials.
Imagine the werewolves loving their inner wolves and having their own tribes and living peacefully in their homes.
Imagine that, for thousands, and hundreds of years they lived in peace, occasionally waring against themselves but things happen of course but they way the magic and earth had never been so healthy as it was. Gods imagine Yellowstone or the Grand Canyon? Or the Mojave Desert? The great basins, the plateaus…
And then, when the Europeans started claiming the land that the magical beings fought to protect the lands they have lived on for centuries, the creatures of the forest hiding the remnants of their great lands from human eyes and hands, protecting the magic that slowly dies as the land gets destroyed and the magical beings who called those lands home started to die and could no longer protect the land.
That they tried to cling and hide and fight for their homes with whatever they could, but when the magical Europeans got involved it just went to hell for the magical beings.
The Native Reservations, National Parks/Lands, and deep into the mountains, are some of the few places that magical creatures can live in relative peace. The centaurs are not as many, and the elves either live on the reservations or the forests. The goblins are not like their European kin, but they are not the same as they were, now instead of trade for safe passage it is trade for protection of human materials or trading for goblin creations. The merfolk have perished in most lakes and rivers where humans have polluted or hunted their food to extinction. The magical creatures who once lived on the land are either hunted down for sport or for being declared born of hell.
Now imagine Ilvermorny, created by a mother who wanted her children to learn magic, and turned into a way for tribes to take shelter and teach their ways as well as learn other ways for magic. The school cropping up in the midst of Magical Americas downfall becomes a place that the few tribes not driven out of their home learn different form of magic while creating a foundation for Native American magic to survive and be taught in the school. Imagine multiple sister schools (because America is too big for there ti be only one school) to the original Ilvermorny being created to teach, to embrace and preserve a culture they refuse to let be erased.
Years later and it is a core course that gets taught, and keeps a part of a culture alive that was on the bring of complete erasure.
Imagine that when African slaves started appearing and become enslave, those who escaped and found themselves at Ilvermorny schools, they started teaching their magics as well. Then as more minorities started to appear in America, so did the lessons in certain Ilvermorny schools where these minorities were prevalent.
America is a cauldron full of magical cultures being mixed, and Ilvermorny is the first to openly teach different magical cultures. The southern schools involve more Mexican, Spaniard, some French, and African magical courses, while the north is more French. The east coast is more influenced by British magics, while the west coast is influenced by the Spaniard, Chinese, and Russian.
They all had their own mix and all have the main course shared by the people who lived their first, but magical america is sooo much more more fascinating and so young still! There is still so much that I can’t possibly cover without a month of research! And we haven’t even reached the southern hemisphere!
Fantastic Beast is great, but it’s missing the uniqueness and complexity of America. And I can only dip a finger into the endless possibilities of the magical American world.

The more you think about Harry Potter lore the less it all makes sense. They have spells that just just MAKE THINGS become OTHER things, spells that make SOMETHING from NOTHING, etc, so why would they ever need money? Why buy anything when you can just transfigure a rock into a cup? Idk some parts of the world building don't make sense to me.

A Possible Theory on Why Some Fandoms Are More Popular And Long Lasting Than Others
So i was thinking the other day, why the hell are some book/movie/game/etc fandoms lasting for 50+ years and others die in a year?
I was comparing some of my favourite fandoms, the Percy Jackson fandom and the Harry Potter fandom and what I noticed and discovered is to make a good fan base, you HAVE to create a good organisation in your story/game/movie/book etc.
What do I mean?
In Percy Jackson for example, we have our main character’s home base. Camp Half Blood. It’s developed in the background throughout the whole series, there is a companion book on the Camp itself, and the whole area is relatively fleshed out and utilised throughout the whole series. It’s described in detail, there are official maps released, people love the camp.
In Harry Potter, we have, of course, Hogwarts. It’s by far more developed than Camp Half Blood, with detailed classes, architecture, art, story, lore, founders. And our main characters spend majority of their time in the building itself. Hell, even the villains of the story used to attend Hogwarts
Why does this matter? Why does world building matter?
Aha. Here’s my hook. Fandoms stay alive as long as fans stay connected to the community. And how else to develop the strongest connection possible than fans being able to build their own original characters or ocs and imagine they’re in the story?
Human imagination is a powerful thing, as soon as they have a world (Hogwarts and Camp Half blood) to build off of, they can create their own characters and imagine more stories building off the Canon to keep their love for the universe alive.
This is why role play communities are so popular, in addition to having your original character and developing a story for them, having a community to showcase and use your character greatly increases your attachment to this community.
Once you make your fans feel like they are part of your world, it’s the strongest connection. Because by default, humans are selfish, they feel more close to something if it’s like they have involvement in it.
Characters VS World Building.
It’s the age old question, what’s more important?
Neither.
No one is more important than the other, it’s just a matter of what you’re trying to accomplish.
With focusing on world building, you almost confirmed yourself a space for your fans to imagine themselves in. And you can have a lot of fun with world building! Creating your own original words, terms and concepts. Your own take on real world events and items and applying it to your story.
However you can’t focus on both so your characters might need to be limit to 2-3 main ones, to balance out your complex and intricate world.
With focusing on characters, you build yourself loyalty based on attachment to characters. This may not yield as much original characters/fan led creation as focusing on world building, but the perks are your characters explode into main stream. Art will be drawn of them, fanfictions will be written about them, headcanons, adaptations etc. By pouring effort into your characters, you create deep and meaningful bonds with specific characters that people will remember.
Maybe 10 years down the line, your fans may not remember everything about the story, or the environment or the world you created, but they will look back one day and go “Good lord, that was an AMAZING character that I still love to this day.” And that’s amazing for you.
This is exactly the case with Harry Potter and Percy Jackson. In my opinion, Hogwarts is wildly more developed than Camp Half Blood for obvious reasons. Hogwarts is a school and CHB is a homebase. Most of the time PJO characters are on quests away form their home base but HP characters are almost always in Hogwarts.
So how do you world build?
1. Of course create your organisation, base it off maybe a real life historical organisation with your own twist.
2. Build a rich and complex backstory, with specific historical figures that contributed to the creation of your organisation.
3. Build ROLES. Build divisions and department in your organisation. Think houses in Hogwarts and cabins in Camp Half Blood. Build specific roles your fans can imagine themselves as. Prefect, Head Girl/Boy, Head Counsellor.
4. Describe describe describe. You have all this amazing lore in your arsenal, now weave and intertwine your characters with them. Make your characters attached to the organisation and want to protect it. Mix your plot and story with it, make it so your organisation MATTERS to the story.
TL;DR
World building is hella important.
Heyyy, this isn’t proofread. Reblog or like if you enjoyed it. Or don’t.

Scorpius is so much like Astoria that it kinda shocks Draco. He sees his wife in him every day, and instead of him slowly becoming more like his father, he just seems to becomes more similar to his mother. Draco gets to see the love of his life everyday, even after her passing, in the thing thats most important to him. Their son.
Because Scorpius is kind in a way that Malfoys aren't used to, soft in a way that the Greengrass lineage can't fathom. He doesnt talk in the way you'd expect a respectable pureblood to. He stuttersz rambles, and stammers, and hesitates. Scorpius doesn't even carry himself in a way you'd expect a respectable pureblood to, because he stumbles, shuffles, and skips, and prances.
Scorpius wouldn't be found sitting in a boring meeting, blathering on about politics. Its unnatural, its not supposed to be. Scorpius can be found sunning in the garden or with his nose deep into a book. He can be found writing owls to his bestfriend and practicing potions in the manors laboratory.
Scorpius is extroverted. He loves talking, he loves learning, he loves making friends. But he's alot to deal with, and he has a bit too much love for most people to handle. Scorpius life is a tragedy disguised as a coming of age romance story, in a way that parallels Astoria too much for Dracos comfort. He worries, that the curse may affect Scorpius. He doesn't want his son to hold any more burdens, doesn't want to even think about the rumors that would come around if he did. Draco worries. And he worries because of how different his son is. He doesn't have that natural Malfoy stubborn and charisma, that would get him out of a tricky situation if he so pleased. Draco doesn't think his son can defend himself and that terrifies him, because he knows Scorpius is being tormented and there is nothing he can do about it.
So he thinks about what Astoria would do. In a perfect world, Astoria would still be here, and she'd sit in the fields with her child, and hold him to her chest, and run her hands through his hair while humming some made up song. And maybe then Scorpius would be happier, because maybe all he needed was his mother's soothing touch. Soothing in a way Malfoys nay Greengrasses are. Soothing in a way Draco doesn't think he can replicate.
But he trys, Merlin he trys. And it won't be as sweet as it would if he was Astoria, but he knows Scorpius doesn't care. He knows his son is happy just being held by his father, getting shapes traced onto his back until he eventually falls asleep. It's kind. It's soft. And isn't it so wonderful how children rub off on you?

Draco and Harry found a way to snuggle together while remaining as clueless, platonic best bros and it's a bit hilarious and very sweet, so I had to draw it :)

I feel like the big "gatcha" of jegulus antis of them having some members of each other's families on their family trees is kind of fucking weird because.... EVERY wizard that's a pureblood or halfblood has in common people on every other family tree in some way shape or form.... wolfstar,,,,, ginny x harry (idk the ship name 😦), drarry, ect. THE WIZARDING WORLD IS FILLED OF INCEST BECAUSE JOANNE WAS FUCKING STUPID WITH HER WORLD BUILDING. EVERY WIZARDING WORLD'S FAMILY TREE, IN THE GRAND SCHEME OF THINGS, IS ALL CONNECTED IN SOME WAY SHAPE OR FORM. I CANNOT STAND SOME OF Y'ALL WHO DON'T USE YOUR BRAIN AND THINK THAT JUST BECAUSE YOU'RE USING THIS TO ARGUE AGAINST A SHIP THAT'S NOT REALLY A BIG DEAL AND DOESN'T MEAN THAT THOSE SAME RULES ALSO DON'T APPLY TO YOU'RE FAV SHIPS 🫵

World building question: Where do wizarding children go to primary school? Muggle children go to standard school like Harry and Hermione, but what about kids like Ron and Draco? Is it homeschool and tutors? Is there any standardisation? Everyone appears to read and write at a similar level when they start Hogwarts.

Do you guys think that penseives would be used in a therapy setting? Like, that feels like it would be so helpful, just being able to show a therapist a non-biased pov of an event.
It would also be so helpful to see it on your own, to compare what you thought was happening vs. the reality of the situation.

magic school au
There weren’t a lot of things that could surprise the young halfa. When he was only a few months old, his father accidentally lost him in the Ghost Zone for over twenty-four hours (and they never found out how he managed the momentary rip in dimensions, nor how Danny got back to the Living Realm). He once had a cooler of pure ectoplasm – which was highly acidic – dropped over his head when he was two years old, and he was completely fine afterwards (okay, maybe there were a few ghostly side effects – but that was it!) The Lord of Time – who was a little shit, and an Ancient – was also his self-proclaimed godfather.
So, yeah. Not much could surprise Danny.
Danny had been privy to ghostly shenanigans since he was three years old, when his parents indirectly, kind-of-but-didn’t kill him.
However, he didn’t like to think of that, so he didn’t.
But waking up to something tapping on his window, and opening it, only to be attacked by a screech owl at three in the morning? That caught him off guard, he had to admit. So did the letter that the owl practically chucked at his head, which then promptly right soared through him, because he had turned intangible on instinct.
The owl looked affronted.
He bared his fangs at it and warily picked up the letter.
Might as well see what it was, right? Who knew – maybe one of his friends in the Ghost Zone was trying out a different ghostly theme? It wouldn’t be the first time, and he decided to humour them.
He blinked when he read over the letter.

UPDATE: If Only You Believe in Miracles So Would I
TWO CHAPTERS IN THREE DAYS BABES IM ON A ROLE!….
..
.
Okay just for this week. I might make it my thing and try to post on holidays (aka American Holidays usually) like Thanksgiving and Christmas. Gods know I’m not planning anything big with the latest family drama and cutting the usual Christmas busy drama in over half out.
But that’s personal problems, not story update!
But that is the plan! I’ll try to get our 6th chapter out by thanksgiving and if for some reason that is a no go, well, Christmas time it is! I won’t always be able to spoil everyone with 10+ chapters but I hope the two chapters this week makes up for my absence.
Life’s a bitch, but I’m still standing babes.
So our 4th chapter made me decide to up my rating to a teen and up audience. Decided that general audience may not completely cut it but we ain’t getting deep into too much hard content — yet. That’s for later and we still don’t get deep deep into it. I could always make a “side quest” of scenes with hard conversations but I think we will role with the punches as they come. Maybe the side quest for anything that’d make my rating a mature one, but to be determined.
I’ll add warnings as we go, don’t expect any hard warnings for this “year” just yet.
And in the spirit of Dia De Los Muertos I decided I will in fact put the 5th chapter out as it also happens to fall on a Saturday, and the last day, and All Souls Day.
Sometimes I wish I could just take my story and derail and yes it is my story but I’ve also been working on this damned thing for years and only now have had the time to be like “rewrite this and that because what the hell was I ON!?” And actually have plans and plot for this.
But enough of me rambling, another time another day — here’s the 4th and 5th chapter in case anyone hasn’t caught up, and another link to the story if anyone is new and just catching this!
Chapter 1: Because I’ve Only Got Two Hands
Chapter 4: This Town Has Dragged You Down
Chapter 5: Could Life Ever Be Sane Again?
Until next time! Stay safe, take care of yourselves! And hopefully enjoy the story yeah?

“Severus snorted when he found out Draco didn't know the word trauma in the medical sense. He informed Draco that these were called panic attacks, common among people who had suffered terrible things, especially at a young age. He said he'd known more than a few people with them, and that Draco shouldn't have been ashamed to ask for help. But Draco was mortally ashamed, all the more so when Severus said those brutally kind words. This was not how he wanted his godfather to think of him.”
- Chapter 4, The Silver Wolf.
This is a little scene from Draco Malfoy and the House of Black, also the third book of a 7 part rewrite series by starbrigid on ao3.
I’m so sick of looking at this unfinished illustration whenever I open procreate, so I very half-hazardly completed it. sorry? better than leaving it to rot without sharing, I guess.
The timelapse claims this piece took me roughly 6 hours, but I actually started this maybe around mid-july this year. and. well. it’s now mid-september. AHHH
