The lead counsel for the nonprofit said “Their persistence and relentlessness, even in the face of the governor and the mayor saying this is false — that shows intent, ...It’s knowing, willful flouting of criminal law.
“The Haitian community is suffering in fear because of Trump and Vance’s relentless, irresponsible, false alarms, and public services have been disrupted. Trump and Vance must be held accountable to the rule of law. Anyone else who wreaked havoc the way they did would have been arrested by now.”

Reminding people about Trump's Project 2025 and his promise to be a "dictator on Day One" do not promote violence. Republican pandering to the NRA has actually killed people.
Trump's wannabe assassins, both the registered Republican and the 2016 Trump voter, used assault rifles.
There was an assault weapons ban in the US from 1994 to 2004. During that period the number of people murdered in mass shootings declined.
When that ban expired, the Republican trifecta in Washington at the time refused to extend it. Mass shootings then soared.

The socialist democrat party opened the border for one reason. To destroy America, to replace Americans who won't vote democrat, with illegal alien invaders, foreigners who will.

fact checking the "haitian immigrants are eating pets in springfield ohio" thing so you dont have to
(even though you should abaolutely look into it yourself instead of taking the word of some stranger on the internet)
it is not true.
it started because of four separate incidents: a woman made a facebook post that incidentally incited the rumor; there was a graphic video of a woman (in no way connected to haiti) from canton, ohio allegedly killing and eating a cat; a picture of a man from columbus, ohio carrying a dead goose down the street; and the death of an 11 year old boy after his school bus was crashed into by an immigrant from haiti.
first, erika lee was the woman who made a facebook post about her neighbor's missing cat. the neighbors, according to the post, thought that their haitian neighbors had something to do with the disappearance, but no proof to back it up. erika admits deep regret for her accidental spreading of hate towards the haitian immigrant community, and has since deleted the post.
second, the woman who alleged to have killed a cat with intentions to eat it was from canton, ohio, not springfield. she isn't a haitian immigrant, nor does she have any relation to haitian immigrants- she's always lived in canton.
third, the guy carrying the dead goose? the image was found to be taken in columbus ohio and posted on the columbus subreddit. the person who took the photo has admitted regret for posting it because of how its been weaponized against the haitian immigrant community. also we don't know whether or not the guy killed the goose or for what purpose, if so.
an 11 year old boy did die in a collision caused by a haitian immigrant crashing into a school bus. however, the boy's father has stated that he never allowed trump to politicize his son's death against immigrants.
my conclusion? it seems like the far right are trying to cartoonishly demonize the haitian people as a means of inciting fear into voters to get them to support trump. this comes from a place of extreme fascism and racism.
yeah, it's funny to look at what trump said in the debate with harris. "haha he thinks people are eating pet dogs in ohio! crazy, huh?" but let's take a step back to think about where these claims are coming from, and why he's making them. critical thinking, baby

This evening, racist cat-eating hoax-pusher Donald Trump told NewsNation reporter Ali Bradley in an exclusive interview for the network that he would revoke the Temporary Protected Status (TPS) of Haitian migrants in Springfield, Ohio if he is elected “President” again. The cat-eating hoax was started by Trump’s ticketmate and Ohio Senator JD Vance. Dear Mr. Trump, the folks that are on TPS status are here legally, despite your feverish insinuations otherwise.

With the flood of empty meme-ification of the bigoted violence targeting Haitian immigrants in Springfield, Ohio, I had no idea until today that there is actually a Haitian Community Help & Support Center that serves Clark County and surrounding areas.
They were founded in 2023 and help assist refugees and immigrants with a variety of pressing needs, including:
housing
interpreting
job search
welfare assistance
"Through our work and determination, community services must be accessible to people in need of them, regardless of their race, ethnicity, color, religion, or sexual orientation. We envision it as a place where people feel at home when they come for community services and are served with dignity and respect." -HCHSC
Tumblr media Tumblr media
They are now navigating the community's fears amid escalating threats, including multiple evacuations due to bomb threats, and violent racism that has exploded after J.D. Vance and Trump's xenophobic fear mongering lies were platformed at the debate.
The Haitian Times and the Hatian Community Help & Support Center organized a meeting on Saturday (9/14/24), bringing together activists from across the country, NAACP leaders, journalists, and local activists in conversation with community members.
The meeting had to be moved online out of fear for residents' safety.
"Some Haitian residents in the meeting shared their experiences in recent weeks and months as the fake news went viral. Participants also shared their fears, concerns and hope for the growing community. Even as they spoke, a ruckus broke out outside the community center from which a few participants logged into the Zoom when a strange truck appeared in the parking lot carrying white occupants acting cagey." - The Haitian Times, 9/16/24
The Haitian Times reports that some parents are keeping their children home from school out of fear for their safety. One woman's cars were vandalized in the driveway of her family home- the attacker used acid and broke a window, while another resident is facing discriminatory eviction from her business location.
White supremacist groups such as neonazis "Blood Tribe" are active in the area and are associated with the origin of the anti-Haitian lie.
Springfield's annual CultureFest, a two-day event that celebrates diversity, arts, and culture, has been cancelled for safety concerns.
"I take my kids to the park usually, I cannot do that anymore. You know, I have to just stay home and just don't go out. We used to just go for a walk in the neighborhood, but we cannot do that anymore," - Jims Denis, quoted in the Columbus Dispatch, 9/14/24
It is especially important to support the Haitian immigrant community during times like these. I hope visibility will shift from unhelpful dunk-on-trump memes to instead focus on the facts of the matter, the actual harm being caused to real communities, and how we can help.
With that in mind, the Haitian Community Help & Support Center takes donations through Stripe and Paypal on their website.
"Your generosity can make a profound difference in the lives of our Haitian community. By making a donation today, you help us provide essential resources, support, and opportunities for those in need. Donate now and be a part of the change. Every contribution counts! Thank you for your support." -HCHSC

I saw a video on Tik Tok about how Trump and JD Vance’s fear mongering about Haitian immigrants is likely to trigger an uptick of hatred and violence towards Black Americans in general, and man did that break my fucking heart. I’m white personally, but goddamn I am sick of this. I remember the 2000s, I remember how the “war on terror” turned into anyone who even just looked vaguely Middle Eastern or belonged to a religion that uses head coverings being treated like dangerous criminals. I remember the “border crisis” turning into an open invitation to discriminate against anyone of Latino/Hispanic descent. I remember how the pandemic turned into a wave of violence against Asian Americans. I don’t want to do this again. I don’t want to sit around listening to bigots talk about my fellow humans like they’re some sort of dangerous animals. I don’t want to open my news app to stories of innocent people being hurt and killed for no valid reason.
I don’t give a fuck what your skin color is, or what country you/your ancestors came from. If you can’t see how disgusting this is, how absolutely despicable it is to act this way towards your fellow man, I don’t know what to say.
