A new treatment combining ReCET and semaglutide could eliminate the need for insulin in type 2 diabetes, with 86% of participants in a study no longer requiring insulin therapy. The treatment was safe and well-tolerated, and further trials are planned to confirm these results.
Groundbreaking research presented at UEG Week 2024 introduces a promising new treatment approach for type 2 diabetes (T2D) that has the potential to greatly reduce or even eliminate the need for insulin therapy.
This innovative approach, which combines a novel procedure known as ReCET (Re-Cellularization via Electroporation Therapy) with semaglutide, resulted in the elimination of insulin therapy for 86% of patients.
Globally, T2D affects 422 million people... While insulin therapy is commonly used to manage blood sugar levels in T2D patients, it can result in side effects... and further complicate diabetes management. [Note: Also very importantly it's fucking bankrupting people who need it!!] A need therefore exists for alternative treatment strategies.
Study Design and Outcomes
The first-in-human study included 14 participants aged 28 to 75 years, with body mass indices ranging from 24 to 40 kg/m². Each participant underwent the ReCET procedure under deep sedation, a treatment intended to improve the body’s sensitivity to its own insulin. Following the procedure, participants adhered to a two-week isocaloric liquid diet, after which semaglutide was gradually titrated up to 1mg/week.
Remarkably, at the 6- and 12-month follow-up, 86% of participants (12 out of 14) no longer required insulin therapy, and this success continued through the 24-month follow-up. In these cases, all patients maintained glycaemic control, with HbA1c levels remaining below 7.5%.
Tolerability and Safety
The maximum dose of semaglutide was well-tolerated by 93% of participants, one individual could not increase to the maximum dose due to nausea. All patients successfully completed the ReCET procedure, and no serious adverse effects were reported.
Dr Celine Busch, lead author of the study, commented, “These findings are very encouraging, suggesting that ReCET is a safe and feasible procedure that, when combined with semaglutide, can effectively eliminate the need for insulin therapy.”
“Unlike drug therapy, which requires daily medication adherence, ReCET is compliance-free [meaning: you don't have to take it every day], addressing the critical issue of ongoing patient adherence in the management of T2D. In addition, the treatment is disease-modifying: it improves the patient’s sensitivity to their own (endogenous) insulin, tackling the root cause of the disease, as opposed to currently available drug therapies, that are at best disease-controlling.”
Looking ahead, the researchers plan to conduct larger randomized controlled trials to further validate these findings. Dr. Busch added, “We are currently conducting the EMINENT-2 trial with the same inclusion and exclusion criteria and administration of semaglutide, but with either a sham procedure or ReCET. This study will also include mechanistic assessments to evaluate the underlying mechanism of ReCET.”

Note: If it works even half as well as suggested, this could free so many people from the burden of the ongoing ridiculous cost of insulin. Pharma companies that make insulin can go choke (hopefully).
#would be super interested to hear from people with expertise in the area about how this sounds#obviously it's a small sample size#but they're going to do more trials#and LOOK at that effectiveness rate#insulin#diabetes#healthcare#medicine#diabetic#type 2 diabetes#public health#medical news#good news#hope

Alberta’s government proposed legislative changes Monday to the provincial Bill of Rights aimed at giving residents the right to refuse medical treatments, including vaccines, but is leaving the final word to the courts. If passed, the new bill would protect Albertans from being “coerced” into receiving any kind of medical treatment, so long as an individual has the “capacity” to consent and is not likely to cause “substantial harm to themselves and others.” However, the bill doesn’t specifically define those terms and Justice Minister Mickey Amery told reporters the government would rely on case law and the courts to decide how they’d be interpreted.

How can I loose weight?
I got you.
💗weightloss, diets and healthy habits💗
1. healthy habits
before we start, you want longterm process. So form habits. Become disciplined.
No crash-diet means no jojo-effect. No crash-diet means actual progress that doesnt go to waste.
2. diet
No matter how much you move, if your diet is not sitting right, you wont slim down. Over time you have to include healthy and nutritious options into your diet.
~small bowl of veggies, before breakfast
(such as cucumber, bell pepper, carotts, tomatos. That way your bloodsugar levels wont come crushing down midday)
~breakfast should include something that keeps you full. Dont skip it. People who eat breakfast tend to loose more weight and be slimmer.
(Porride, Eggs, Avocado, etc)
I usually include: Oatmeal, Chia sees, Berries and one Banana
~try not to snack, keep going for three meals a day
~eat whole foods, eat clean and make sure to dont neglect your protein-intake
(protein keeps us full and satisfied. Also, you want to loose fat, not muscle)
~cut out sodas and liquid calories!!!
such a waste. go for the light options with 0-2kcal. They taste the same, if not better.
Also, drink enough water.
3. workout
Normally, I work out every day in some way.
Cardio, strenght, pilates or just a walk outside.
Moving your body, keeping it toned and flexible, helps your mood, your health and your overall life.
On top, it burns calories.
Build some muscle and loose some fat. Thats how you get your dream body.
Here are my favorite channels, that I workout to daily:
MIZI (cardio mainly, full body workouts and burning calories)
Lidia Mera (pilates full body, toning and strenghtenig, legs, arms, abs)
Shirlyn Kim (specific parts, weightloss, strenghtening/toning,thigh gap)
Yuuka Sagawa (posture, arms and upper body)
Nina Dapper (arms, legs and abs)
4. Beauty Secrets
~ginger/curcuma shots
I tend to have ginger shots to boost my immune system and overall health. They are also very good for your skin and can give you a natural glow.
~probiotics
Your gut health is a game changer. You get less break outs and you can loose weight faster.
You can heal your gut through your diet and order some probiotics.
~castor oil
I live and breath castor oil.
Usually I apply it before bed on my lashes, hair and skin. It helps with hair growth, skin protection and hydration. Its also very good for debloating and detox, if you put it into your belly button.
~green tea
This magic tea can help you loose weigtt, reduce the risk of several diseases, such as diabetes or heart disease,
It reduces anxiety and lowers your cholesterol level.

There should be legal consequences for insurance companies that deny life-saving treatments to someone with a life-threatening illness.
People are not a fucking dollar sign and they shouldn’t have to die because they’re poor.

Urgent Help Needed for a Family in Gaza🙏🇵🇸🥹
-Donation link (GFM)👈
I am a member of a family of ten, living in Gaza and enduring extremely challenging circumstances. Both of my parents suffer from chronic illnesses; my father has heart disease and high blood pressure, and my mother struggles with high blood pressure and diabetes. Life here is unimaginably difficult, and with the harsh economic conditions, it has become hard to secure even the most basic needs.
We are urgently in need of your support to help us survive these difficult times, and we hope our message reaches compassionate hearts. Any contribution, no matter how small, can make a big difference in our lives. May God bless you and reward you.

FOR MY FOLKS IN GA:
There's been a recent switch from the normal Marketplace portal to a new Georgia specific one called Georgia Access!
Here's the link:
If you already have Marketplace, you've probably already received a couple emails about this exactly. They'll send you a code that you can use to link your former Marketplace account to the new Access portal OR if you can't find those emails, just follow this link here and use your SSN instead to connect from Healthcare.gov! You're gonna want to choose the second option of "Consumers with an Access Code or Using SSN". (I found that actually they ended up renewing my same plan rather than me having to go and find an entirely new one which honestly? Such a score.)
You can also enroll there even if you DIDN'T sign up for Marketplace insurance by clicking the first option of "New Consumers". Make sure to follow the steps and enter your income for pre-eligibility screenings to make sure you're eligible for Exchange plans with the tax credit.
(I know that they push for options of brokers and assisters on the main website but I can't necessarily speak to that. Be wary with whoever you sign up with and put your information in for. I know a couple folks who I have reason to believe utilized brokers who had their data sold and now receive stupid amounts of spam calls so if you feel comfortable using the portal above to directly choose your own plan, I'd recommend it! And if you do use a broker or secondary website and see the options if Speridian, Benefitalign, or Inshura on there, DO NOT FUCKING CHOOSE ANY OF THEM. THEY ACTUALLY HAVE BEEN BANNED FROM MARKETPLACE FOR SCAMMING AND DATA SELLING.)
Anyways, go forth and get affordable healthcare while the option is there!!
Banging on the walls chanting "OPEN ENROLLMENT FOR ACA THRU JAN 15" like some deranged town crier. Election results aside, you have options to access healthcare as a RIGHT through the ACA. NO one can dismantle the Affordable Care Act in less than 4 years, so SIGN UP! GET YOUR CARE! USE THE SYSTEM!
You have options RIGHT NOW that will be stable thru the next year, the one after that, and I'd be shocked to see them shrink even the year after that. That means RIGHT NOW you can get signed up for next year to gain 100% covered preventative care (your annual check ups, pap smears, dental cleaning, vision check). You have the option to get checked and screened as you need, do NOT be dissuaded from exploring ACA choices. They are SOLID, LEGISLATED, and WORK BEST WHEN PEOPLE USE THEM.
I can't change most things around me, BUT I CAN tell everyone I know that THEY CAN GET LIFE SAVING CARE. THEY CAN GET PRESCRIPTIONS. THEY CAN GET PREGNANCY CARE. THEY CAN GET CANCER CARE. AND THEY WILL GET THAT CARE!!!!!!
SIGN UP BY DECEMBER 15, 2024 FOR COVERAGE TO BEGIN ON JANUARY 1, 2025. ENROLLMENT AFTER 12/15/24 WILL HAVE COVERAGE BEGINNING FEBRUARY 1, 2025.
#georgia#healthcare#please please please#it's massively important#ALSO THERE ARE PLANS THAT INCLUDE DENTAL#AND EVEN IF YOU DON'T GET ONE OF THEM#USUALLY THERE ARE SOME GOOD CHEAP DENTAL OPTIONS#one year i think my dental was like $15/mo???#anyways#THESE RESOURCES ARE BUILT FOR YOU#PEOPLE FOUGHT FOR YOU TO HAVE THEM PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THEM

In light of recent events, I think I need to bring back some quotes I found on Google:
So that’s what we need to do. We need to outlive that old fuck. He’s practically on his deathbed already. We need to stay strong and outlive our enemies and the people who hate us. We have a chance at fixing everything when they’re all gone. We just need to get there. We just need to outlive them.

i am genuinely scared.
i am profoundly physically disabled. I rely on SSDI and EBT, Medicare and Medicaid to cobble my life together, all of which Trump has promised to gut and cut if he got back into office.
If (when) these programs cease to exist, I won't be able to afford rent. I won't be able to afford my many (very expensive) medications. I won't be able to afford food. I won't be able to get a wheelchair that meets my needs once this one dies (or if my needs change). I won't be able to afford healthcare for my nine diagnosed diseases or get that ADHD evaluation I need.
I won't be able to afford to live.

Girls, women,WOC, POC, afab, LGBTQIA+ adults and kids: start being meaner
And I’m not saying this to be funny, be meaner if it means protecting yourself. Be harsh and unwavering to those you actively voted against your rights
Don’t give them sympathy, empathy or the benefit of the doubt. They sure didn’t give us that
Protect yourself in any way you can.
Plan B has a shelf life of 4 years if stored properly
Be critical of men, doesn’t matter what they believe. Don’t let them have access to your bodies, hell keep them at an arms length
LGBTQIA+ do what you need to do to stay safe. I know most of us already know but; evaluate where you are and the people around you. We are a strong community, we can preserve. Both on love and spite. We deserve to exist and love
Those who voted Trump do not deserve a passive life
Those who voted third party did not heed our warnings, they shouldn’t feel good about themselves
Those who actively decided not to vote are cowards
They should not be forgiven
