I don’t know how to convey how soul crushingly hopeless the message of “endure” was without turning into a beast on main but like. Yeah. /POS

Especially bc Lloyd is such a girlhood metaphor and it was just him and pixal and nya. The tragedy of their grief is only made so much worse by the fact they have to just wait for something to happen to them. Does that make sense. Am I crazy.

I have a small headcanon that Kai didn’t style his hair like fire because of his own element or because he found fire cool, but because of his father.

Kai styles his hair to be more like his father. To embody that same passion and protectiveness and love that his father held so naturally and he wanted. Not just for himself, to help remember that man and to be like the person he looked up to the most, but for Nya. Nya needed a father. Nya needed to know how it all felt. Nya needed to understand somehow how Kai felt about Ray. About what he experienced.

So, for Nya, he embodied what he remembered of his father. And for himself, he turned his image into something he wanted to make his father proud of.

Kai, no matter what he does, deeply loves and missed his parents more that anything and the effect of them leaving was much deeper then he let anyone notice, but that was eventually revealed during season 7 (time twins season). Nya obviously was effected but she didn’t have as many memories nor did she have a close enough bond from when she was younger for her to react just as similarly to Kai (again, she WAS effected because thats her parents and she definitely missed them too) but Kai had many issues he suppressed over the years that came to the surface the moment he heard that his parents (supposedly) left them on purpose. He was so hurt by that that he began making the same rash and impulsive decisions he did in the first season.

(He seems to often do that when his family is involved, doesn’t he? First it was when Nya got kidnapped and he ran off to the temple of fire, attacking his parents in that cabin they lived in, when Cole fell off the ship and he immediately went to try turn it back around, when Zane died and literally EVERYTHING he did after, i can’t think of any for Jay but maybe when Jay was slowly losing it in the first realm and Kai started freaking out cause of it, and the way he’s willing to take risks to his own life for Lloyd in general.)

I think when he was younger, he often saw how passionate his father was. He was like a living flame that always warmed them all, never burning their hands every time they reached for him. Kai held onto the memories of his father working closely with the flames on their blacksmith’s, always treating it like an old friend, having a silent conversation no one can hear. He spent time sitting and just watching his father, happy with just that. He clearly remembers the way his father’s eyes were always so bright. So hopeful for the future (and the he got kidnapped and enslaved so…but at least his kids saved him! (one tried killing him))

He remembers the way his father held them protectively, always keeping them safe. He remembers the way he loved so fiercely for his mother and his sister. He felt that same love for years until it was ripped away from him, and then tainted.

The fire that they shared, once something he didn’t understand and then later having become both a connection to his father and a burden of a man he believed was rotten for a short time, was now something he can also have conversations with that no one but him and one other can understand.

this was supposed to be a comic but i was too tired to make it so here's a small two doodles of manager jay finding his old paintings of nya :3. he doesn't know who she is but there's still this weird feeling he can't shake off....

based on that weird dream i had except i made him a more purple/violet color like my ninjago oc anya

BASICALLY the dream is that danny was gonna Fully Die but clockwork intervened and gave him a chance at a new life in a different world, completely over from scratch. he ended up keeping his memories of his past life but because the worlds are so different the only things that were handy were like. science and math he could remember since physics mostly worked the same. he was born to two parents, john and maria mortis (they weren’t named in the dream but i decided to keep their names close to jack and maddie hehe >:3)

he ends up keeping some of his powers still-- invisibility and intangibility, which he has to re-learn from scratch, and also he can see and interact with certain shades and echoes left behind from living people (which are different from ninjago’s version of ghosts, these shades can’t interact with the world and are completely passive, but they are immune to water).

eventually he ends up in S0/S1 of ninjago training with the four core ninja and his weapon was technically a spear or staff thing but i decided that a set of kama were a cooler weapon-- they’re mostly japanese farming sickles but they are used in some katas in different martial arts in southern asia so i thought they were cool. didn’t wanna draw them tho

there’s more information i could write but there’s so much here already that maybe i should Chill out

I forgot that after I finished watching season two of dragons rising I did head shots of what I think the ninja look like now since all the time has passed as well as what I think their cannon ages are (look back on my Ninjago timeline if you want more on that and how I came to these conclusions) but yeah

Also includes Akita in my OC Ripley, just for fun because I just like both of them, Zane and Pixal were not included because robots don’t exactly age

Also, I think all of the ninja look much older than they actually they are mainly because of stress but they’re mostly in their mid to late 20s, I think Akita is also around that same age she just looks younger because I mean, have you seen half of the shit the ninja go through
