Camp Choas Harry goes from being the loveable but easily dismissed Professor at Hogwarts to the one man who held the Western Wixen Line by himself and somehow liberated two border villages from Grindelwald's power

It was an accident. Harry had only meant to visit the area for a very important and rare potion ingredient. One of the Campers had fallen ill to DragonPox- a death sentence. The other campers were ordered to quarantine from her but not before saying their final goodbyes. She would be dead, alone in a locked room in three months - and Harry had dispatched to find a cure after a vision at once.

No one believed he had seen a cure. How could they? DragonPox was one of the deadliest illnesses out there, and most thought the man was making a desperate sad attempt. But his campers did not wavier in thier faith of the camp leader.

If Harry claimed he could save Stephanie, then she would make it. He was delayed a bit fighting off a literal army, but he came back and brewed the potion.

Stephanie lived, two villages were free, England wasn't invaded, and DragonPox for the first time in history was defeated.

Tom greatly enjoys watching the Slytherins who mocked Professor Potter pale when the man walks by. They fear him now. They should fear him. They missed out their chance to gain his favor but Tom has been with Professor Potter from the very first camp.

He has the carvings knives to prove it and now it's Poor Oprhan Muggle-born Tom that they grovel to, hoping to gain even the slightest chance to impress Professor Potter. Then they realized that Tom is very much like said camp leader because they dismissed him too. They didn't know how powerful Tom is either.

And they pale just as white when they realize that Tom putting down his carvings is as scary as Harry's smile slipping.

Tom could get used to this.

Alright this is the last tomarrymort post au for now but — imagine a world divided by heroes and villains. Imagine an empire where a man named Grindelwald rules with his partner, Dumbledore.

Imagine a story where Tom and Harry grew up in the streets; where they had to scavange food in the trashcans. Hide in the alleyways. A world where no one cared about the poor, dirty children. A story where they grew up hating the very land they were born in. The world that hated them just because of their bloodline.

But even through the hardships they dream. Dream of having a bed and a roof over their head. Dreams of a house with just the two of them. They dream of the day they will finally be free.

But then — Harry disappears.

And when they meet again? It's in the battlefield. But not side by side or hand in hand — no. They stand, facing each other; against each other.

Imagine two estranged childhood friends. Imagine, Tom becoming Voldemort and leading an army of rebels, planing a revolution. Imagine a missing Harry, who returns as the dog of the very empire he hated. Imagine friends turned enemies turned enemies and maybe something more. Something carnal. Maybe it's love, who knows.

Unpopular opinion

Ron and/or Hermione should have died in the deathly hallows. And I say this as someone who loves these characters (probably Hermione more than Ron), but here me out

Now let's be fucking real, I really like ron, but he really wasn't skilled or prepared enough to fight in a war against voldemort, be it magically or mentally. And that's ok! He's still 17, he's not meant to be fighting a war. And to some degree he probably knew that the chances of him actually making it were pretty slim too. But he still stuck with Harry anyways coz there's no way he was going to let his best friend go through with this alone. Because that's who ron is, he'd rather die fighting beside his best friend, for his family, his muggleborn gf and for the cause than play it safe and hide.

Now coming to Hermione, things get a tad trickier here. Yes, she is very skilled and powerful and quick on her feet. But is she powerful enough to take on an army of adult DEs who've trained for years and have experience from the first wizarding war? To win against the darkest wizard who ever lived, who's said to be worse than Grindelwald, who's the most powerful wizard in the whole world after Dumbledore? No, I'd say she isn't. Because she's also fucking 17, she's not even done with school yet. But I think she'd live longer than Ron, or that there's a better chance of her making it out alive. But if she did die it would be extra heartbreaking coz a) Harry (and the readers) just lost 2 of the people who had been there from the very beginning, b) Hermione's parents would live on in Australia, not remembering that they had a daughter, not knowing that their daughter gave her life in hopes of saving her friend and creating a better world.

I majorly have 2 specific reasons for being this sadistic. The first one is the fact that the plot dumbs down it's main villain and his followers just to make the kids win. Voldemort (during Harry's time) is probably the dumbest villain ever written, he doesn't live up to his hype. People have already discussed how stupid his gof plan was. In ootp, during the DoM fight Lucius says that voldemort can't come get the prophecy himself coz the ministry is filled with ppl and he would risk revealing himself. But it's possible for 6 mostly dumb teenagers and an army of DEs, (who hv just escaped azkaban and are sought after by the ministry) to enter in undetected? Doesn't 👏 make 👏 any 👏 sense. The supposedly feared DEs who were trained by voldemort himself can't win against a group of teenagers. It's surprising how long it takes them to take the kids down in the DoM battle. The thing is though, this is out of character for ALL of them. It seems like they were dumbed down just so the MCs could make it out alive. Voldemort during the first WW started out as absolutely no one to having the highest class of the wizarding society obeying his every command. The whole wizarding world was so afraid of him that they wouldn't even say his name. The DEs picked out member after member of the original ootp, mostly coz they were outnumbered but also coz they're fucking death eaters. And ur telling me these guys can't fight kids? Pathetic. Also it doesn't make sense that most of the adults from the first war are dead but all the kids live. Like did the war become safer or sm shit? Instead i would have loved it if the trio got away with things in the first few books, but then realised what a war against voldemort actually means later on. But they won't back down, and they'll still stick with their friend and fight for each other and the cause anyways, and that vil have real, legitimate consequences

Now, the second reason is that it would have been an amazing but heartbreaking callback to book 1. Ron sacrifices himself in a game of chess and Hermione says that there are more important things than books and cleverness, like friendship and bravery. Ron's line of "It's you who has to go on Harry, I know it! Not me, not Hermione, you!" would have also come full circle. Back then they were still 11, so they could still get their happy ending. Now they're in a real war and the stakes are higher, but they'll stick to what they started anyways. Ron sacrifices himself so the other 2 can move forwards, Hermione's intelligence gets her further but she still needs to part with Harry. Harry needs to leave them behind and face voldemort alone because that's how it was always meant to be

And finally, it would have given us a more bittersweet ending to the series instead of that vanilla 'all is well' epilogue. Harry has lost almost every one he loved. But there's still life, there's still hope, and he lives by cherishing their memories and making their sacrifice have meaning. Kinda like the ending of the hunger games. Ik this is a kids book, but Harry Potter as a series is incredibly deep and deals with a lot of fucked up shit, so I think it could handle it if it was written well.

Can we please please stop calling death eaters nazis to earn woke points. Please. If anything this fictional group is a fictional cult that tried to take over the government and turn their group into a dictatorship. Which didn't last because a teenager and his found family all kicked their asses. I just I really wish people would stop calling them nazis. Please. They're not real. The whole thing is a lot more complicated than that especially when you add in how muggles can act if they hate magic. But at the end of the day death eaters are fictional. It just makes me feel icky when you take a real world horror that ruined so many lives and tried to apply it to a fictional series that is suppose to be fun. Especially when you are using it to try to shame people who find the death eaters and Voldemort interesting. It's fine to make parallels to real life. But I hate that people treat it like it's exactly the same. It's the same way I feel when people take the hunger games series too seriously.

This is a bit long, sorry! I've read some posts about this on tumblr, and I've also done a little bit of research into discussions which compare Gindelwald and Voldemort as villains which feels pertinent to this topic. And I am thinking about it heavily for how I portray Tom in my story because I show his POV occasionally, which I find creepily interesting.

First, the books are fiction, even if they are loosely inspired by real life events, the people do not exist. So if someone wants to get a Dark Mark tattooed on their arm, I mean who really cares? What exactly you are trying to communicate with such an act is slightly mysterious, but I wouldn't equate it to having a swastikas tattooed on your arm. Second, I think there are people who like to look at the multidimensionality of fictional characters and those who like to be told who those characters are by the author. Personally, multidimensionality is much more interesting to me, especially when you apply it universally and take note that many "heroes" have obvious flaws. Villains can have positive traits too. JKR does both with many characters, the Malfoys (villains who are humanized), Dumbledore (who is "revealed" to have a darker past than Harry knew), Sirius and Remus who want to murder Peter, Barty Crouch Jr who teaches Harry to throw off the imperius curse.

Recently, I haven't dug into literary analysis of the parallels between Voldemort regime and the Nazi's. I know they exist. But I actually agree with the mindset that Voldemort acts far more like a cult leader than a fascist dictator. A lot of it has to do with scope. Both his bids for power involved a relatively small army and even though he might have been claiming he wanted to take over all of Europe, or the world, it really wasn't likely. Contrast this with Grindelwald who seemed to have made actual bids for political power, gained far more support from the magical community on an international level, and wasn't obsessed with his own immortality (that we know). Grindelwald wanted the resection stone to build an army, Voldemort didn't even know about the resection stone. Building an army of the scale Grindelwald envisioned feels a lot closer to the World Wars than Voldemort's era.

Tom Riddle is all about Tom Riddle. He doesn't care about blood status, he doesn't care about politics. He doesn't like muggles, but he basically wants to increase his own power, and that's it. He is extremely manipulative, considering he manipulates MANY pureblood families to give support to a half-blood. Those families might not call him out on his lower blood status, but they know. Because they track all that shite! They know Voldemort didn't come from an established lineage. Now he does have the distant connection to Slytherin going for him, and I think this is the first way he gained loyalty from fellow Slytherins while at Hogwarts. He is also very charismatic, in his original body. I think both his original charisma and his use of fear and intimidation tactics after he is regenerated speak to cult like behaviors.

I think his obsession with Harry also shows how unlike a fascist dictator he is. Yes, he knows Harry/Neville is prophesized to be his downfall, but he basically turns all his attention to eliminating this threat to his PERSON rather than putting energy towards building the society he preached about forming. When he is regenerated, he is STILL obsessed with Harry. Yes, his Death Eaters go after the Ministry. But Voldemort plays the game Dumbledore predicts him to play, which is to pursue Harry. And it is to his detriment in the end. He probably could have outlasted the Order for far longer, even with the limited number of Death Eaters he had if he had focused on the political arena. If he had made Harry actually hunt him down, from a position of real political power, he would have been very difficult to eliminate.

Knowing a bit about Mormon cults, I think a religious cult followers is a far closer line to draw to the Death Eaters. Smaller scale, brainwashing, coercion, extreme loyalty... I really see them as a terrorist group. They like to spread their message though mayhem and violence. Tom Riddle is the type of person who would watch the world burn as long as he knew he started the fire. But he is also ok with it continuing on, as long as he is gaining in personal power. From what we know about his childhood, he was likely touch and love deprived, which are traits associated with abnormal brain development. Again, I see him with the mindset of a serial killer, except his operation is far grander in scale and he doesn't need to actually murder anyone to feel fulfilled. But that coldness, the lack of emotion, the inability to connect and relate to others, the manipulation (again), the charisma... very serial killer-esque.

So the question of whether one chooses to invest in these cult-esque, terrorists being morally questionable boils down to how a person sees humanity. And there isn't a right or wrong, because we all have different life experiences. But it can feel right or wrong to us individually, and then we share our perspective with the broader community. I'll use Bellatrix as an example because I put some serious thought into her character for my fic. Bella is awful in canon. And she is not a "good" person. She is a complicated person. Most people are complicated. They make good choices, they make bad choices, they live with the repercussions of said choices. Bella going after Frank and Alice is the most sickening part of her persona, but she was desperate. She was hurting, and she lashed out in the only way she knew how. Because she grew up in the family and society she did. It doesn't excuse her behavior, but it does mean I can look at her with some empathy and enjoy seeing her be a human. She had a husband, she liked to mentor, Bellatrix cared about people, HER people. And when her people were messed with, watch out. I am planning to really dig into the Death Eater POV during my fic, which is exciting to me.

There seems to be a lot of animosity around shipping the Death Eaters with non-death eaters and disagreement over whether this is realistic or not. Let's recall, the whole thing is FAKE! Who knows and who cares if it is realistic. I don't care if someone says Tomarry is canon, I don't have to agree with them. I don't care if someone tells me Wolfstar is unrealistic to the time period, or that Jegulus is straight up impossible, because I just simply don't see it that way. The magic of the world is it lives inside each of us. I'm not limited by the societal stigmas of the 1970's because this story didn't take place in the 1970's, it didn't take place at all! (Except for Wolfstar and Jegulus, which definitely happened). So depending on how pure to canon you want your fandom life to be, you are going to find a camp which suits you. I think the fun of fandom is that is doesn't have to be dogmatic. And at the same time, you can find your folks if you need that. But the arguing which is better, wasted energy. I'm always going to be in camp MOST FUN! I think looking into everyone's story is most fun for me.

And on a final note which could be it's own essay, quotes from Sirius regarding ANYTHING in the past do not sit well with me. Sirius is a trauma survivor, he spent twelve years in isolation in a dementor infested prison and as far as we know got no professional mental health care for PTSD before he died. Many claims made about James in particular are based on things Sirius said to Harry, James' son. Um, a bit biased? YES! Sirius wants Harry to see James in a certain light, so he plays specific of James' qualities. And his quotes regarding Regulus (as few and far between as they are) are just as subject to bias. I remember Sirius saying Regulus wasn't as good a seeker as Harry is. Well, Sirius has seen Harry play in ONE game of quidditch, I don't buy Regulus wasn't just as good or better than Harry and that Sirius wasn't simply trying to boost Harry's confidence. I suspect what happened with Regulus is simply too terrible for Sirius to explain or remember. Sirius fiercely protects Harry, I believe he was a protector of his little brother even more so. In conclusion, the realisticness of two characters shipping together because one of them "hated the Dark Arts" and the other was a Death Eater, is not a platform to argue from, IMO.

Voldemort Vs Grindelwald

I often see fans wondering who is more powerful between Voldemort and Grindelwald. Honestly, I have never asked myself this question because the answer seems too obvious to me. First of all, Voldemort is defined as the greatest dark wizard of all time, which would be enough to close the question but I will try to address it in points:

1 Magical Abilities: We know Grindelwald was a great wizard, sure, but could he have created 7 horcruxes? Would he be able to create an Inferi army? Would he be able to create a killing curse for Dumbledore too or a potion that he couldn't counteract? Would he have been able to fly without support? The point goes to Voldemort.

2 Confrontation with Dumbledore: Grindelwald faces Dumbledore in 1945, in a duel that remains in history, where he loses. Then he had the allegiance of the Elder Wand, and was up against an experienced but relatively young wizard. Voldemort duels with Dumbledore years later, when the latter had the allegiance of the wand. Dumbledore fails to defeat him. I've heard many say it's because Dumbledore was older, but magic doesn't work like that, you gain experience over time, so Dumbledore was even stronger than when he fought Grindelwald. Another point for Voldemort.

3 School: It may seem superfluous but Grindelwald was expelled from school, so he had less time to learn magic from professionals. Tom, as we know, was a model student, whose value was recognized by all. He again defeats Voldemort.

Bonus, Charisma: I've heard a lot of people define Grindelwald as more charismatic after seeing Fantastic Beasts. I'm not saying it's not true, just that they shouldn't be so quick to judge Grindelwald as more charismatic. First of all because we did not see Voldemort in the recruitment period, but only in the post Harry Potter period. In any case, we have addresses. First he gets the support of most pureblood families, despite being a halfblood himself, then he gets followed by various notoriously dangerous magical creatures such as giants and dementors. In his youth, when he chose to focus on his charm, he had the whole of Hogwarts at his feet and when he worked at Borgin and Burkes all the most particular clients were entrusted to him. He managed to approach Helena Ravenclaw, who was certainly known for her open character. And, finally, even when she was in Albania without a body he managed to get Raptor on her side. If this isn't charisma!

So, to conclude, for me Voldemort is undoubtedly more powerful and in an equal duel he would certainly win against Grindelwald.

Alexej is the son of Anton Vogel, the head of the German auror office (later Minister for Magic and Supreme Mugwump). He goes by his mother's last name to avoid association with his father. He attended Durmstrang and joined the AM (Anti-Muggle) movement associated with Grindelwald. While being undecover in the German army, Lunas Avery discovered his identity, causing Alexej to flee the country and join TOWER for a while. Odessa is the younger sister of Lunas and childhood friend of Kit Enfield. At Hogwarts she was a Gryffindor. She is a journalist, uncovering injustice and reporting on the events of the war. She later marries Kit.
