Golgotha Crowley (Autumn 2019) graphite drawing and coloured version 🐍🍎
🎨Media: Graphite (HB, 4B, 6B pencils) and Caran d'Ache water soluble pastels/crayons on a scanner copy.

🚨Disclaimer on Ga iman: I adore Good Omens and for the moment being I will continue to post quite a lot of Crowley especially, but I want to make clear that I do not support his behaviour, already deeply problematic in the best possible scenario, and I believe and support survivors first and foremost as the first option, always.

Introductions :)
Tumblr media
My artwork from 2019 or so! btw the star is just a little watermark I added :)
Hi everyone, I'm Marjorie! I wanted to start an art blog for a while, but I'm really bad at posting... I love anonymity and don't really like showing my art all that much. But I love seeing other people's posts and always feel so inspired by them! I thought maybe I could make this blog to share advice and help encourage people to draw too
Here are some facts about me!
I've been drawing for ~8 years
I love graphite the most, but I also really enjoy ink, oil pastel, and acrylics! I've tried basically everything out there lol
I almost exclusively draw people/portraits - something about capturing someone's face is so magical, I love every second of it
Other things I love besides fine art: reading, writing, crocheting, learning new languages, playing basketball, and lots of other stuff! and sleeping too I'm always tired
Nice to meet you all!

A portrait of a friend of mine! I may have posted this already on Tumblr, but it was the unfinished version. I started this portrait a few months ago, but got sidetracked, so it's been on the backburner for a while. 9" 12". Graphite Pencil on Drawing Paper -- (I'm still not sure whether or not I like this paper. I hate working with it but I keep finding success with it...go figure)

Béla Lugosi
A portrait of Béla Lugosi I intended to be for his birthday, which was on October 20th, but it ended up taking me way longer than I expected to get him finished.
Tumblr media
I feel like I've had everything against me right from the beginning with this portrait. I started him late (October 18th), because I had another art project that took a lot longer than I anticipated to finish, so I knew that I wouldn't complete him in time for his birthday, but what I didn't expect, was to get art block worse than I've ever had before, and for it to take me almost a week just to get the sketch right (I'm surprised the paper survived all the erasing I had to do!). Take a look at the process photos I've added below the cut, and you'll be able to see my suffering in pictures :) 🫠
All that being said, I am happy with how he came out in the end. It seems that, with a lot of portraits I do, I think that I'm going to have to give up and start over completely, but then somehow pull them through last minute.
Instead of using aquarelles to paint his suit like I have done with my last six portraits, I decided to just use graphite, like the rest of the portrait. To make it quicker to shade, I used a graphite "crayon" for most of it, then smudged it with a blending stump to make it look smoother.
HB, 2B, 3B and 6B graphite and mechanical pencils on 160 gsm paper.
Process photos below cut.
Other Lugosi portraits: 2022 | 2023.
Please don’t use or post on other websites without credit or permission, thanks 🙏

My take on The Judge from Cormac McCarthy’s “Blood Meridian”. To make this, I used graphite and carbon pencils on paper, while I did the background digitally. I used photos of Marlon Brando in “Apocalypse Now” and Stellan Skarsgård for the facial features, as well as Clancy Brown in “Highlander”. I also used ai to create some reference photos by inputing descriptions from the book.

The other night, I watched The Frog, a Korean series about psychopath serial killers. I heard the song "Ain't No Love in the Heart of the City" performed by Bobby "Blue" Bland for the first time, and I really liked it. I've listened to it many times since then, but every time I hear it, I feel sad because I can't help but think about the story from that series.
