Here is my explanation for that, in a v recent insta reply
Average joe parents are powerless in the face of a giant corporation. Similarly with Sato's parents, the Kuzuryuu parents, and anyone else who lost their life while within Hope's Peak's reach.

YOURE RICH?????????
In Philippine standards? very much. Internationally though I would be considered upper middle class.
Like my parents have enough money to live comfortably for several generations rich but we live pretty humbly. Mostly cause of religious purposes a lot of their earnings go to the less privileged family members of ours for education.
I try not to dig into their pockets too much though, hence why i wanted a scholarship in my coleg and am trying to gun for a full ride scholarship in ASMPH if not 75%
#hns.txt💬#hns.ask💌#the humbly part applies to ourselves (mom#dad and i)#like they really wanted me to go to a government school#even though i wouldnt fit in or like the course they wanted me to get#because they didnt have to pay much#it took covid and me not going to classes for a year#to convince them i wanted to go to a private school#they’re still pretty fucken snobbish about the students there tho#dad literally said on the first day#these students here are rich kids that couldnt pass the government school exam#huhu

My Canadian followers please never forget that even the “truth” part of truth and reconciliation is a sham because all levels of government still refuse to acknowledge that there were way more than 139 residential schools as they intentionally left those that were provincially or privately funded out of the TRC settlement agreement
#tw residential schools#the TRC report directly acknowledges the existence of provincially and privately funded residential schools#go to the list of institutions people have requested to be added to#the settlement agreement and scroll down and see how many#were denied a spot on the basis of not being federally funded#reconciliation is literally a dollars game they’ll pay for what they can’t avoid and continue to lie and ignore their way around#what they can#my grandpas school was denied a spot because of being provincially funded and to this day#the religious order that ran it AND the provincial government explicitly deny that it was a residential school#not even all federally funded schools have been recognized don’t forget that either#anyhow don’t believe them about how much they care and how much they’re doing. they don’t and aren’t#and can never claim to be when they still refuse to come clean about the extent of this genocide

it does seem like poetic justice that england always do incredibly badly in international competitions of sports we invented
#the last british player just got knocked out of the wimbledon singles lmao#it is astonishing just how shit we are at producing good athletes?#kinda wonder if it has something to do with our government for the past 14 years hmmm#bc if u think about it the young players now are people who would have grown up under tory cuts#it's been a problem in cricket for ages that only private schools play it so there's a much smaller pool of potential pros#i wonder if it's become the same for tennis#anyway. rip emma raducanu. she's not dead she's just out of another grand slam#🧃

Show me the round bird plushy, now!!!
Ahaha, here you go!
It was for our art and crafts class, where teacher basically told us to create whatever for the final grade xD I am serious. I decided to make a plushie. Made several mistakes on the way because I kept misunderstanding how to move the print to the fabric and kept accidentally mirroring it!
Fun fact - I still have this fabric! I'll tell you more - the pattern inspired this dress for my old OC, Maybell:
All in all, that class was fun.... almost. I dreaded the fact that they had a split, where girls had a class for sewing and knitting and even cooking, but boys had a class for carving wood, and creating and putting together and fixing furniture, learning how to use tools etc. Basically, in where I live, art and craft class is actually 'useful life skills' class, but why THE fuck it had to be split? Everyone can learn to both cook + fix their clothes and make furniture + fix broken shit, regardless of gender, so I've always been bitter about cultivation of dependence on another gender like that. Like, it is not just gender stereotypes, but also cultivating heteronormativity, with the idea of families of men and women that can't and should not (!!!) have a skill another has :/ We were only kids! :<
But yeah, you already know that my country is barbaric and backwards-developing. You are looking at the only good thing that came out from that fundamentally wrong class xd
#ask replies#personal#creativity#argh!!#granted I am only talking about government supported schools#no idea if private ones were way more civilized#memories

Ok tumblr, having seen one of the most stupid, godawful election takes I expect to see this whole night - from a blog I usually trust for good takes! - I'm gonna try to steer clear for a bit. How easily people who are worried about trans rights under labour (who look to have the first elected trans candidate coming on the isle of wight!) forget the genuine fear of many jewish members under the previous leader, and the previous leader's continued dismissal of their fears.
#do i need to be explicit: i want a ceasefire i want a leftwing government i want trans rights#i also want actual vocal and meaningful support for ukraine not jezza's appeasement#i want someone who can talk to both sides in ni and tell both sides to grow up#i want someone who cares more about the party movement actually than his own cult of personality#i voted for jc as a member! i campaigned for him in 2017 and 2019 - and by 2019 we were NOT winning that support back#by far the majority of my trans friends are delighted by this victory#not least as i believe we'll have a government more likely to listen to pressure from trans and human rights groups on this#sigh#anyway#oh YEAH baby we are taxing private schools we are renationalising the railway we are NOT drilling the fuck out of the north sea#edit: lol no the greens fucked the labour candidate in iow east

loving how my state is about to pass something actively takes away massive amounts of money from public schools in order to funnel it into private schools with none of the oversight or obligations that public education has also while public educators are screaming about how underfunded and underresourced we are
I have nothing against private education until it’s being used to destroy one of the most important foundations of our society and, you know, the shit that keeps me fed and clothed
#public school has issues and failings#watch 80% of it be fixed if we funded it like it was the invaluable public service it is#and there is no universe in which a private institution#that can discriminate and refuse services to anyone#should receive government funding#you want the money that’s meant to serve all students? serve all students.

Wow okay if I was a carrot I’d be quaking in my boots rn
it was a long and torturous death, accompanied by the sweet sweet sound of my friend and i trying to figure out the number of different types of schools in england
#wiggles asks#hi dm :D#there's like 6 or 7 types of schools i think??? we ended up getting distracted and not having a concrete count#there's public (paid for) and private (government run) and grammer schools (free but for smart ppl) and#academies (independent but goverment funded)#etc etc etc#and charitable status ndependent schools vs non charitable independent schools#anyways this is what we talked abt whilst destroying the carrot. i didn't let us do anything else until i finished

i wanted to ask what kind of things they teach you in catholic school but as someone who went to school near the Vatican I also know very questionable things so
im not going to ask
my school we do mass once or twice a month which is pure torture. we have to sit through an HOUR of a homily. sometimes we have days of services- no classes, just speeches, sitting, speeches, praying. (somehow through a homily I learned that Aaron judge bakes brownies and cookies)
retreats, we go to nature reserves and pray and sing about god and all
and uh. you know, abortion is wrong, wedlock, basically every single fucking rule written in exodus (exaggeration but similar)
and you know what’s funny? half of the schools population is literally gay.
#WAIT VATICAN????#FUCK THATS COOL#I’m stuck in a country where it’s run by a man who has dementia#sorry joe biden stans#jokes aside though catholic- specifically private schools usually keep all the government added classes#out#like being forced to do schoolwide therapy with people you don’t even know#not included in my sort of school#I just don’t like public schools#specifically government run schools#oh and one thing I stupidly forgot we only take catholic holidays#no jewish holidays period#I mean I’m not jewish but I want those free days

hey fun fact: if your school gets you in trouble for not doing the pledge of allegiance, that is actually very illegal. There is legal precedent for not being allowed to force students to do the pledge. Supreme court level legal precedent for this exact issue of schools forcing kids to stand for the flag. It goes against the first amendment right of free speech because free speech includes protections against forced speech and so it was ruled unconstitutional.
So yeah, if your school gets you in trouble and make a fuss about it, you will win.
the only thing is I go to a private school, and I'm pretty sure that could complicate things (and also: I live in a very conservative area with very conservative parents) however I've pretty much stopped saying it) but I definitely thank you for this because I wasn't sure on exactly what the legality of that is
#ik private schools get away with a lot in america so thats why i dont know if the government could actually get involved#me posts
