How Do You Get Rid of Pigmentation On The Side of Your Lips?
Based on the insights from Dr. Ravali Yalamanchili, renowned as the top doctor for pigmentation treatment in Hyderabad, we will discuss how you can get rid of pigmentation on the side of your lips. So, let’s start!
Causes of Hyperpigmentation Around The Mouth?
The common causes of hyperpigmentation around the mouth can be:
Melasma: They are typically caused by hormonal changes in women and can occur during pregnancy, taking birth control pills, or hormone replacement therapy.
Medication Side-effects: Some medications can increase the risk of hyperpigmentation, which includes chemotherapy drugs, hormone replacement medicines, and doxycycline antibiotics.
Sun Exposure: Tanning beds and UV rays from exposure can increase your risk of melasma.
Trauma to the Skin: In case of serious injury like acne breakout, burn, or infection around your mouth, it’s possible to develop hyperpigmentation after the skin has healed.
Vitamin Deficiencies: Pigmentation can also result from vitamin B12 and vitamin D deficiencies.
Who is At More Risk of Having Pigmentation Around the Mouth?
People with darker skin tones are more prone to hyperpigmentation overall due to a higher rate of melanin production than those with light skin. Moreover, you may also notice that the discolouration around the mouth worsens during summer due to over-sun exposure.
Treatment Options For Hyperpigmentation On The Side of Your Lip?
Hyperpigmentation on the side of your lip can be difficult to treat compared to other areas of the face due to the delicate nature of the skin. However, an effective treatment includes home remedies and medical treatment as suggested by a dermatologist.
Home Remedies:
Wear sunscreen daily and reapply when it is needed
Use Exfoliation and skin brightening serums containing antioxidants like vitamin C
Include vitamin E in your diet
Medical Treatments
Carbon Laser Peel: Carbon laser peel is a potent treatment that unveils skin’s radiance and banishes hyperpigmentation’s region with each peel’s gentle exfoliation.
Laser Resurfacing: In this, a precise beam of light is used to erase hyperpigmentation’s traces and give you flawless skin with each targeted pulse.
MNRF Radiofrequency: Using a micro pen, MNRF delivers radiofrequency energy through tiny needles, creating micro-wounds to stimulate collagen remodelling and rejuvenation.
Photofacial: It can be a swift and efficient procedure targeting pigmentation issues like sun spots, rosacea, and spider veins. Light pulses from the handpiece break down excess melanin, promoting skin exfoliation for a rejuvenated complexion.
Final Takeaway
With over 11 years of experience, she is a proficient expert in skincare. So, don’t wait till it gets too late and consult her by visiting Neya Dermatology & Aesthetics Clinic.

I don’t shave every day. It’s not that I don’t “need” to; I have very dark, dense facial hair that grows quickly and remains pretty visible after shaving. When I do shave, I don’t try to cover it with makeup (beyond some powder to reduce redness). In most other ways I present very feminine, but I always have fairly obvious facial hair.
And it makes me feel terrible.
I started electrolysis a couple months ago. It’s excruciatingly painful, expensive, and it takes forever. In an hour-long session, my electrologist is able to remove hair in only a small region (about 1 square inch). A few weeks later, much of that hair comes back. I am told that it will take two to three years of regular treatments to remove it entirely. On top of that, I apparently have a condition called Post Inflammatory Hyperpigmentation, which causes the skin in affected areas to darken after treatment. For nearly two months after completing a single pass over my upper lip, my mustache was more visible than it had ever been, despite having significantly less hair.
And it made me feel terrible.
I know this is the best way for me to permanently remove my facial hair, but I just canceled all of my upcoming sessions and at the moment I have no plans to begin again.
If I could pay to have my facial hair instantly and completely removed I would empty my savings account. I am intensely aware of it any time I go out in public. If it makes me so uncomfortable, why do I not do more to hide it?
I feel incredibly privileged for a trans woman. I have a loving, supportive family. I have a well-paying job. I live in a very accepting area. I have never had a single person say anything negative to me about my gender identity, which was certainly not what I was expecting when I came out. It is important to me that I be visibly queer, and in my privileged position I am able to do that without fear. A year ago I didn’t think I would ever transition; now I want people to know that I’m trans.
I am disappointed with myself for wanting to remove my facial hair, for changing my voice. I am determined not to have to do more work than a cis person does. Cis women don’t have to shave their face every day. Cis men don’t have to shave their face every day. Why should I? This is who I am, what my body does. Shouldn’t I be proud of that? Am I not supposed to love myself the way I am?
But by that logic, why am I even transitioning in the first place?
I am doing more work than a cis person does. Cis people don’t transition, and transitioning takes effort. I know that there are cis people, both men and women, who do shave every day. Am I lying to myself? I’m a trans woman; aren’t I supposed to want to get rid of my facial hair? Shouldn’t I be trying harder? Doesn’t this give me dysphoria? Am I pretending not to have dysphoria so I don’t have to put in the effort? Does the fact that I’m not trying harder make me… I don’t know, less trans? Non-binary? Is it ok for me to call myself a trans woman? Am I lying to myself?
As a woman who was a man until thirty, there are things about my body that I must accept, that I won’t be able to change no matter how much money I dump into my transition. I’m tall, I have broad shoulders, I have large hands. No amount of surgery or hormones will change these things.
But there are many things that I can change, and while none of them are requirements for being a woman, they may still be changes that I want to make. Where do I stop? Am I finished transitioning when I’ve done everything that is physically possible? My goal isn’t to “pass,” at least not in the way that word is generally used. In a time when cis women are being assaulted because people think they’re trans—because they don’t “pass” as women—the idea of what it means to pass becomes blurry. Often when we say that we want to pass, what we really mean is that we want to be conventionally beautiful.
I am a woman. Therefore, I look like a woman. My transition goal is to pass as myself. I’ve spent the last year trying to figure out who I am so I can look like her. I don’t care whether people see me and think “that’s a woman.” I want to be able to look in the mirror and think “that’s me.” But it can be extremely difficult to separate your own image of yourself from society’s idea of what you should look like. Am I self-conscious about the size of my body because it doesn’t feel like me, or because I’ve been told that women should be smaller? There are tall cis women, there are broad-shouldered cis women, there are cis women with large hands. Those traits don’t make them less womanly.
For the aspects of my body that I do have control over, I am stuck wondering whether I am changing things to become myself, or changing them because I have internalized that the way I am is wrong. At the moment, facial feminization surgery is something that I think I might like to do. But how do I know that I want to do it for the right reasons? I don’t hate my face, but when I catch a glimpse of myself from certain angles I can’t help but think that it isn’t feminine enough. What I should be asking is if it’s Emma enough, but how can I know that? How do I know who I’m supposed to be?
I feel like I was supposed to be a cis woman, but… why? Who am I to say that I wasn’t supposed to be trans? That I wasn’t supposed to transition at thirty, to have both a male puberty and a female one? Being trans has made me more self-aware, more open-minded, more empathetic. The totality of my experience is what makes me who I am. Maybe there’s a world in which I was assigned female, maybe there’s a world in which I was put on puberty blockers as a kid. But the girl in those worlds isn’t me.
Loving yourself and wanting to change are two feelings that can coexist. I tend to think of body positivity as simply accepting yourself as you are, but it is more nuanced than that. As a trans person, who I am inside is not the same as who I am outside. Which one am I supposed to love? I do love myself, but I also love who I could be. I’m transitioning so that someday they’ll be the same person.
Over the past year I have become both my biggest supporter and my biggest critic. I constantly tell myself how pretty I am, how brave I am, how fucking cool I am (hey, nobody else is saying it and it’s true). This forced positivity has been fantastic for me. I can confidently say that I truly love myself for the first time in my life. But I sometimes feel guilty that I don’t love myself more.
I can’t help but stare at myself in the mirror all the time now. I actually bought a new mirror so I didn’t have to walk as far to do so. I’ve taken more selfies than I did in my entire pre-transition life. After many months on HRT, I finally see myself in my reflection. But my eyes refuse to focus on my stubble. Sometimes I catch myself thinking “I’m going be so beautiful once I get rid of this facial hair,” and it feels like a betrayal. Fuck you Emma, I’m already gorgeous.

i love your prom photos so sad you took them down
was wondering if you could give us your skincare routine and if you could tell us what products have and haven't worked for you?
and your skincare prep for b4 makeup?
a/n: hello! of course i'm willing to do that — I'll link everything as well. it'll be separated into a few different sections: products i use (separated into different sections, and w/ a 'review'), products i tried but didn't like, morning + night routine, make-up skin prep routine. all products from LIKESKIN (check out their website)
SKIN TYPE: dry, acne-prone (I'm prone to pustular acne, cystic acne, and hormonal acne) & MY SKIN CONCERNS: hydration, acne, blemishes, scarring, and hyperpigmentation
THINGS I ALWAYS DO:
Retinol 2-3x a week Vitamin C 2x a week Mask 3x a week Exfoliating toner 2-3x a week
PRODUCTS I USE:
cleansers -
[IUNIK] Calendula Complete Cleansing Oil ;; gets make-up and sunscreen off, gentle and sensitive skin friendly, doesn't break me out.
[BEAUTY OF JOSEON] Green Plum Refreshing Cleanser - doesn't dry me out, gentle, foams up well, and cleanses my skin properly!
toners -
[ANUA] Heartleaf 77% Soothing Toner - hydrating and soothing, helps take down my redness and blemishes
[NEEDLY] Daily Toner Pad - helps with texture and acne
[NUMBUZIN] No.5 Vitamin-Niacinamide - helps with acne scars and any darkness i have, i tend to put these on my cheek area and leave them for awhile
[BEAUTY OF JOSEON ] Green Plum Refreshing Toner: AHA + BHA - this is a light exfoliating toner that overall helps keep my rejuvenated
[DEAR KLAIRS] Supple Preparation Unscented Facial Toner - extremely hydrating, i use this every day and night so matter what, somewhat viscous
[SOMEBYMI] 30 Day Miracle Toner: AHA + BHA + PHA - exfoliating toner, don't use this if you have sensitive skin, but this helped me get rid of my pustules (acne filled with yellow pus)
serums -
[AXIS-Y] Dark Spot Glow Correcting Serum - mixed feelings on this serum since it helps a lot with my dark spots BUT it works on new scarring + if I use it too often, it triggers my acne.
[SKIN1004] Madagascar Centalla Asiatica Ampoule - incredibly soothing and hydrating, helps keep my acne under control
[The Ordinary] 10% Niacinamide Serum - started using this recently and i love it so much, helps the skin shine, removes texture, reduces acne and pore appearance
[The Ordinary] 0.5 Retinol - helps me extremely with acne; i worked up from 0.1% to 0.2% and now at 0.5%
[BEAUTY OF JOSEON] Retinal Eye Serum - i just love this one so much, very plumping
moisturisers -
[BEAUTY OF JOSEON] Dynasty Cream - i love this so, so much; hydrating, lightweight, and doesn't trigger my acne
[IUNIK] Centella Calming Gel - like the axis-y glow correcting serum, over-using this causes me some acne so i tend to use this once or twice a week, and it works wonders!
[COSRX] Centella Blemish Cream - HOLY GRAIL PRODUCT! this is genuinely one of the things that helped me clear my acne to extraordinary levels, especially when i had a huge breakout EVERYWHERE! i also use this as a spot treatment, repurchased this like seven times now
[DEAR, KLAIRS] Freshly Juiced Vitamin E Mask - using this with vitamin c works wonders and it overall enhances any dark spot removing products! very lightweight, jelly-like texture!
[I'm From] Vitamin Tree Water Gel - i adore this one so much; such a cooling, soothing moisturiser, and it targets almost every skincare concern ever, totally underrated!
sunscreen -
[AXIS-Y] Complete No-Stress Physical Sunscreen - only sunscreen that didn't make me break out and doesn't have white cast!
masks -
[I'm From] Mugwort Mask - i love this because everytime i have a breakout, it just helps me so much with redness.
[I'm From] Honey Mask - a miracle mask for an acne-prone person! one of my all-time favourite products! gives the skin a gorgeous shine as well! when i run out of this, i also just use manukka honey and oats!
/ so most of the products i use are anti-inflammatory, soothing, and target blemishes/texture/scarring; most people tend to forget that you should try and avoid anti-inflammatory products if you're not acne-prone because it may just end up triggering a breakout! all our skin is different! so here's PRODUCTS THAT DIDN'T WORK FOR ME:
(disclaimer: some of these products were good but i wouldn't repurchase!)
[BEAUTY OF JOSEON] Relief Sunscreen: Rice + Probiotics - sunscreen - triggered my pustular acne but was incredibly lightweight, super sad it didn't work out for me :(
[HARUHARU WONDER] Black Rice Hyaluronic Toner For Sensitive Skin - toner - i just didn't like this, it didn't do anything for me and caused my skin to itch.
[AXIS-Y] Mugwort Pore Clarifying Wash Off Pack - mask - i used all of this up and came to the conclusion it just didn't do much for me and was also incredibly difficult to wash off.
[BEAUTY OF JOSEON] Glow Serum: Propolis + Niacinamide - serum - now, i genuinely loved this but it only gave me a glow and was very small, ran out too quickly! much better products that do the same job with more product and more cheap!
[BEAUTY OF JOSEON] Glow Deep Serum: Rice + Arbutin - serum - this triggered my pustular acne so bad that i threw it away almost immediately, nuh-uh!
[MIXSOON] Bean Essence - serum - this isn't bad per se, but i feel like it's a very overhyped product and doesn't do much other than boost hydration, i use it but i wouldn't buy it again
[NUMBUZIN] NO.3 Skin Softening Serum - serum - i have such mixed opinions on this one because it really does help with texture but not if you keep using it? so i'm not sure if i'd repurchase.
[NUMBUZIN] NO.5 Goodbye Blemish Serum - serum - feels heavy, doesn't do shit other than trigger my acne and make my skin itch
[SOMEBYMI] 0.1% Retinol - serum - definitely a great beginner-friendly retinol but far too light for me and my acne-infested skin :(
MORNING ROUTINE:
cleanser (green plum refreshing cleanser from Beauty of Joseon
toner (i'll switch between the ANUA Heartleaf one and the Dr, Klairs Supple one)
serum (i'll tend to use a soothing serum such as the SKIN1004 centella asiatica one or a vitamin C serum)
moisturiser (dynasty cream or vitamin-tree water gel)
sunscreen
NIGHT ROUTINE:
double cleanse (IUNIK cleansing oil + BoJ green plum refreshing cleanser)
mask (either honey or mugwort mask, leave for twenty minutes)
toner pad (leave on for five minutes minimum)
toner (usually an exfoliating toner at night-time or a hydrating toner)
serum (tend to opt for niacinamide + retinol at night)
moisturiser (usually the vitamin e mask OR dynasty cream)
spot treatment (COSRX Blemish Cream)
MAKE-UP SKIN PREP ROUTINE:
(this is what i did on the day of prom as well!)
toner pad (leave these on for ten minutes and rub around face, this helps hydrate the skin; i use the numbuzin ones)
niacinamide (helps tighten pore appearance and just helps in every single way)
soothing serum (centella asiatica to overall help the skin!)
moisturiser!
/ i hope this helps!

How Do You Get Rid Of Pigmentation Around Your Mouth?
If the discoloration around your mouth makes you uncomfortable or bothers you, then it is high time you knew this was a sign of pigmentation around your mouth. These areas of the skin tend to develop in small patches and may result anywhere on the body. The discoloration can directly result from increased melanin production in your skin.
Though these dark patches don't necessarily require treatment, for some people, the discoloration around the mouth can be troublesome, depending on the size of the patches. So, to get rid of the pigmentation around your mouth, if you are looking for the best skin doctor for your pigmentation treatment in Hyderabad, you can rely upon Dr. Ravali Yalamanchili at Neya Dermatology & Aesthetics Clinic. We have taken her insights to come up with this blog. Here, you will learn about the causes and treatment options for discoloration around the mouth. So, let's get started!
What Are The Causes Of Dark Spots Around The Mouth?
Melanin is a colour pigment that gives natural colour to your skin. While sun exposure, medications, hormone fluctuations, and certain underlying conditions can create changes in melanin production, primarily on the face. It results in hyperpigmentation spots that may appear as discoloration around your mouth.
Medication Side-Effects
Though oral contraceptives may cause melasma, there are other medications too that increase the risk of hyperpigmentation, such as:
Chemotherapy drugs
Hormone replacement therapy, especially estrogen
Doxycycline (A type of antibiotic that increases sun sensitivity)
Sun-Exposure
Ultraviolet (UV) rays from sun exposure and tanning beds are known to increase the risk of dark spots as you age. It can include age spots/sun spots/ liver spots. These are most commonly found on the face, arms, and chest. Moreover, sun exposure can also worsen melasma present in your skin. If you skip the mouth and lips area while applying sunscreen, you remain on the borderline of getting effective by pigmentation.
Melasma
Melasma consists of dark brown and grayish brown patches on the cheeks, forehead, and upper lip. Hormonal fluctuations in women usually cause them and can occur during pregnancy or while taking birth control pills or hormone replacement therapy.
Melasma usually occurs on the face in areas such as the upper lip and chin or on the cheeks, nose, and forehead. The excess sun exposure can make the patches more noticeable. This condition is less common in men than in women.
Trauma To The Skin
If you have a severe injury, acne breakout, burn, or infection around your mouth, there is a high chance that you may have hyperpigmentation in the form of brown and black spots after the skin has healed. This type of discoloration usually fades away after several months.
Vitamin Deficiencies
Skin pigment changes may also occur due to vitamin deficiencies, including vitamin B12 and vitamin D. As per a report, vitamin D deficiency is more prominent in people having melasma.
Who Is More Prone to Get Pigmentation Around The Mouth?
People with dark skin are more prone to get pigmentation around their mouth than people with light skin. This is because melanin is produced more in the dark than pale skin.
When you age, you may notice more spots around your chest, face, and other areas more exposed to UV rays. If you don't wear sunscreen around your mouth, the skin discoloration risk in that area increases.
You may also notice that discoloration around the mouth worsens during the summer months. The reason behind this is sun exposure, which stimulates more melanin and makes hyperpigmentation more noticeable.
Treatment Methods Of Hyperpigmentation Around Mouth
Hyperpigmentation around the mouth may be more challenging to treat when compared to other areas of the face due to the delicate areas of the skin in nature. However, effective treatment solutions can include home remedies as well as medical treatment. Let's explore them below-
Home Remedies
1. Make sure you wear sunscreen daily and do not forget to apply it on the mouth
2. Using exfoliation and skin brightening serums containing antioxidants like vitamin C. Though they do not give a permanent solution, the spots may return soon after stopping using these methods.
3. You can use retinoids to lighten your skin.
These products can also show some side effects. It is best to consult your doctor before applying to them, and for a better and permanent result, you can consider getting medical treatment. It include treatments like:
Carbon Laser Peel
MNRF (Microneedling Radiofrequency)
Photofacial (Intense Pulsed Light)
Laser Resurfacing
What Is The Best Way To Prevent Pigmentation?
As suggested by skin-care specialists, the best ways to prevent pigmentation around your mouth are:
Wear sun-protecting clothes
Use broad-spectrum sunscreens of SPF 30 and above on a daily basis
Avoid skin damage; do not pick at acne or scrabs to encourage calm and healthy skin.
Apply skin products containing kojic acid and phytic acid, as they can trouble the melanin production cycle by disrupting tyro-sine (amino acid), which plays a vital role in melanin production.
Wearing a wide-brimmed hat to protect your face
Trying to balance diagnosed nutritional deficiencies
Avoid tanning beds as well as peak sun hours.
Take Away
Skin discoloration or pigmentation around your mouth results from the excess melanin production in your skin. However, this is not the only reason; hormonal changes, medications, and sun exposure are also related to hyperpigmentation, along with nutritional deficiencies, skin trauma, and other medical conditions.
So, if you want to get rid of the skin pigmentation around your mouth, you may consult an experienced dermatologist to determine what treatment method will suit you better.

Also, I’ve seen people make fun of Jobe’s “slanted” eyes and I’m so sick of it.
He could be really trying to take care of his skin for all we know, its really hard to get rid of hyperpigmentation and i love jobe’s eyes why would anyone say that🥺luvv when people have distinctive features and he has his dad’s eyes to me

I've never seen anybody talk about hyperpigmentation, and it really upsets me.
Recently, I've noticed that my inner elbows, and my mid torso have splotches of darker colored skin, and my dad informed me that my mom had it in the same places so it's likely genetic and not harmful.
I have had to deal with the fact that it's different, and a lot of people asking if something happened to it. It sucks that there's so much shame attached to my own skin. But every time I have to remind myself that I would NEVER say to someone else that their skin is ugly.
However, it still sucks that every time I look up hyperpigmentation online, I only ever see shit on how to get rid of it and people being sad about having it.
Unlike conditions like vitiligo, (which, don't get me wrong is still underrepresented and not treated with kindness) which have some reputation, especially in online communities who are willing to make stunning art of these people, I've never seen art of someone with hyperpigmentation. I don't see it in picrews, paintings, characters, or anything else.
I just want everyone with hyperpigmentation to know they aren't alone and that they deserve to feel beautiful too.
I will make sure to make art of my skin because other's won't.
