Unlocked Book of the Month: Letters of General John Forbes
Each month we’re highlighting a book available through PSU Press Unlocked, an open access initiative featuring scholarly digital books and journals in the humanities and social sciences.
Tumblr media
About our May pick:
This volume is made up of the letters of British general John Forbes, who led the campaign against Fort Duquesne, a pivotal episode in the French and Indian War. Primarily from the year 1758, the letters, to William Pitt, Governor Denny of Pennsylvania, General Sharpe of Maryland, and others, offer readers a firsthand glimpse of the campaign, from the preparation through the expedition to Fort Duquesne and the eventual British capture of the fort, where Pittsburgh now stands. The correspondence is accompanied by various related letters between other key players in the expedition.

Here are some companies that strongly support Israel (but are not Boycott targets). There is no ethical consumption under capitalism and boycotting is a political strategy - not a moral one. If you did try to boycott every supporter of Israel you would struggle to survive because every major company supports Israel (as a result of attempting to keep the US economy afloat), that being said, the ones that are being boycotted by masses and not already on the organic boycott list are coloured red.

Charities and politics: the thin, red line
When you are a proven impostor and idiot and still you insist, it's time to remind you a simple Roman proverb: errare humanum est, perseverare diabolicum. In other, English, words: to err is human, but to persist is diabolical.
Or supremely stupid: your pick, Max.
This page is not into politics at all - and I explained why: this is a very familiar terrain to this blogger, who'd really like to enjoy her daily time off that particular kind of madding crowd. However, from time to time, reality manages to pierce the veil, such as today, when news of Humza Yousaf stepping down as Scottish First Minister made worldwide headlines - just a basic example: https://www.nytimes.com/2024/04/29/world/europe/scotland-humza-yousaf-resigns-snp.html
That does not mean that the whole Cabinet is bound to resign, unless next Wednesday's debate on a non confidence vote promoted by Scottish Labour is lost. By the way, non-Scottish Max.
Never mind Max very recently amused me to no tomorrow, with her color blind, non-European view of Scottish politics (and politics, in general). Never mind she wrote enormous things like the SNP and Greens being politically opposed Scottish parties, just because of Yousaf's recent horrible blunder kicking the Scottish Greens out of his coalition cabinet and trying to keep the steer of a minority SNP cabinet. The SNP & Scottish Greens coalition partnership is very likely to resume as soon as John Swinney (or perhaps Kate Forbes, but my money is not on her, for many reasons: too divisive, too close to elections, etc) is hastily anointed First Minister (https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2024/apr/29/snp-looks-to-unity-candidate-after-humza-yousaf-quits-as-first-minister). No Scottish person, living anywhere else than under a rock, would have aligned this intergalactic bullshit with such confidence and such bad syntax:
Tumblr media
Angus Robertson is a shrewd politician. He needed to be seen doing exactly that, yesterday night: showing off at an event hosted by S, once a very vocal support of the Scottish Greens. Here is why, according to normal people, like the Guardian's Scottish Politics team:
Tumblr media
[Source: https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2024/apr/29/snp-looks-to-unity-candidate-after-humza-yousaf-quits-as-first-minister]
How old is Max, anyways? Where do they live? I won't add insult to injury, but boy do they seem to write from an ever more far-flung corner of the world than me, and my money is on South America, for many reasons I will not develop here. I chose to be merciful, tonight.
Tonight, she comes back with a renewed batch of freshly half-baked ineptitude:
Tumblr media
Please ignore the hideous word salad the two first sentences are. Google Translate would have done better. Who dunnit? Alexa, in the kitchen, with Colonel Mustard? Let's focus on the Big, Fat Lie, here:
'Any participation in events involving charities must be independent and must not support or be endorsed by any political party or be associated with any candidate or politician.'
This is simply not true. If that were to be true, on this planet, or at least in the UK or Scotland, we would never have any NGOs actively lobbying politicians, hosting debates with them or petitioning them on various issues ranging from road safety to global warming.
I will refer the definitely non-Scottish blogger Maximum Wobbling Bullshit to the official factsheet on this very topic, issued by the OSCR, the Scottish Charity Regulator (https://www.oscr.org.uk/media/2899/v14_faqs-charities-and-campaigning-on-political-issues.pdf):
Tumblr media
The above rule is limited to the case of election campaigns, as it is logical to be, since a husting simply is another way to call a campaign meeting. There was no campaign related anything yesterday night, the comments were simply about a Scottish national policy that is anything but political (promote Scottish tourism!), Angus Robertson is not a candidate to be Scotland's next First Minister. And same goes for the WWF and Blood Cancer UK - if you think those people went to that gala without a mandate from their NGO Board, you are: a) 5; b) delusional; c) a foul-mouthed troll.
Anyways, to go to the bottom of it, I also looked in the Scottish Charity Register - because you never know what those people might come up with, again:
Tumblr media
As I think we all know, MPC is a registered US Limited Liability Company (LLC), based in Delaware. Its California branch is now closed, but the Nevada one was still active, one hour ago, when I checked:
Tumblr media
And in case you are still wondering, after all these years, about MPC's legal status, here is their legally impeccable FAQ answer to the people who subscribe and who would legitimately want to know where their money goes, after all:
Tumblr media
An LLC is a relatively recent (1970s) hybrid type of legal entity, equivalent perhaps (give or take a couple of technicalities) to the UK's PLC. In my professional view, it offers the best legal framework for what S tried to achieve with it, allowing both for management flexibility and tax transparency. If MPC does not present itself as a charity, it has the entire right to do so and is, therefore, not a charity, from a legal point of view, unless otherwise successfully contended in court.
You are still an idiot and a liar, though.
PS: S has not shared Robertson's X message on his own socials. Just so you know, MAX. [Later edit: extensively quoting The Scottish Daily Express, the Scottish edition of The Daily Express, a notorious UKIP/Farage supporting media outlet, hate speech condemned by the UN High Commissioner on Human Rights, just tells me once more time what a color blind impostor you are, Max.]

Anthony Wayne
Anthony Wayne (1745-1796), better known by his nickname 'Mad Anthony', was a brigadier general of the Continental Army during the American Revolutionary War (1775-1783). After the war, he briefly served in Congress before resuming his military career, winning a victory over a coalition of Native American nations at the Battle of Fallen Timbers.
Born in Pennsylvania to a family of Irish immigrants, Wayne worked as a land surveyor before joining the Continental Army in 1776. Within a year, he had become a brigadier general, serving with distinction in the Philadelphia Campaign. His finest moment came in July 1779, when he led a nighttime raid against the British garrison at Stony Point, New York, capturing the fort even after sustaining a bullet wound to the head. After the American Revolution, Wayne won election to the House of Representatives as a member of the Federalist Party, working to help strengthen the authority of the federal government. In 1792, he became Senior Army Officer and defeated the Northwestern Confederacy of Native American nations that were contesting the United States' control of the Northwest Territory (modern Ohio). Wayne died shortly after his victory at Fallen Timbers on 15 December 1796, at the age of 51.
Early Life
Anthony Wayne was born on 1 January 1745 at his family's estate of Waynesborough in Easttown, Pennsylvania. He came from a family of Irish Protestants, and his grandfather had fought for the Williamites at the Battle of the Boyne (1 July 1690). In the early 1700s, the Wayne family emigrated from Ireland to the British colony of Pennsylvania, where Anthony's father, Isaac Wayne, found work as a tanner; over the decades, his tannery became the largest in Pennsylvania. In 1739, at the age of 40, Isaac Wayne married Elizabeth Iddings. The couple would have four children, of whom Anthony was the eldest. During the French and Indian War (1754-1763), Isaac served as a captain and raised a company of provincial soldiers. He participated in the 1758 Forbes Expedition to capture Fort Duquesne, in which he served alongside a young Colonel George Washington.
Growing up, Anthony Wayne was expected to inherit the 500-acre Waynesborough and work the fields as a farmer. But Wayne had other plans for his future; having listened to heroic tales of his grandfather's and father's military service as a child, the young Anthony dreamt of winning military glory himself. An insatiable reader, Wayne read all the military histories and classical works he could get his hands on and was soon able to recite both Julius Caesar and William Shakespeare. After completing his education at the College of Pennsylvania, Wayne became a land surveyor. In 1765, he and several of his associates were commissioned by Benjamin Franklin to survey 100,000 acres of land in Nova Scotia. After Wayne surveyed the land, which became the township of Monckton, it was settled by eleven Pennsylvania families of mostly German origin.
In 1763, Wayne married Mary Penrose. The couple had two children: a daughter Margarette (b. 1770) and a son, Isaac (b. 1772). Wayne and his growing family continued to live at Waynesborough, where he split his time between helping his father at the tannery and his own work as a surveyor. But, as relations between the Thirteen Colonies and Great Britain continued to deteriorate, Wayne found that he was being drawn toward the Patriot movement, which opposed the 'unjust' policies of the British Parliament such as taxation without colonial representation. In 1775, a year after the death of his father, Wayne was nominated to the Pennsylvania Committee of Safety, a shadow government run by American revolutionaries; on this committee, he served alongside prominent Patriot leaders like Benjamin Franklin and John Dickinson.
In this position, Wayne became increasingly radical in his disdain for the British, leading his primarily Quaker constituents to remove him from the committee in October, for fear that he had become too war hawkish. By now, the American Revolutionary War was underway and rapidly escalating. With his brief foray into politics over, Wayne could now follow his childhood dream and enter the military.

John Rattray, the Scottish Jacobite Surgeon and golfer was born on September 22nd 1707, Craighall Castle, Rattray, Perthshire.
John’s father was an Episcopalian priest who became the Bishop of Dunkeld, then of Brechin and was elected Primus of the Scottish Episcopal Church. On his death in 1743 his elder son James became clan chief and inherited the estate. As the second son John had no such inheritance and he trained as a surgeon in Edinburgh by apprenticeship to the surgeon John Semple between 1728 and 1735, when he began surgical practice in Edinburgh. To enhance his professional status he applied to become a freeman (or fellow) of the Incorporation of Surgeons of Edinburgh (later the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh) This involved sitting a series of four examinations which were held in the later months of 1740, and, having passed these, he was admitted a freeman of the Incorporation in November 1740.
In his spare time John Rattray was a keen sportsman he joined , The Royal Company of Archers in 1731 winning the archery competition for the silver punch bowl on 4 occasions and The Company’s most prestigious prize, the Edinburgh Arrow, twice. He was also a skilled golfer and his prowess at golf is recorded in this extract from the mock heroic poem ‘The Goff’ by Rev. Thomas Mathison published in 1743, the first poem devoted to the sport of golf.
North from Edina eight furlongs and more, Lies that fam’d field, on Fortha’s sounding shore. Here Caledonian Chiefs for health resort, Confirm their sinews by the manly sport. Macdonald and unmatch’d Dalrymple ply Their pond'rous weapons, and the green defy; Rattray for skill, and Corse for strength renown’d, Stewart and Lesly beat the sandy ground, And Brown and Alston, Chiefs well known to fame, And numbers more the Muse forbears to name. Gigantic Biggar here full oft is seen, Like huge behemoth on an Indian green; His bulk enormous scarce can 'scape the eyes, Amaz’d spectators wonder how he plies. Yea, here great Forbes, patron of the just, The dread of villains and the good man’s trust, When spent with toils in serving human kind, His body recreates, and unbends his mind.
John Rattray was one of the men who drew up the first ever Rules of Golf and on March 7th, 1744, the City of Edinburgh Council provided the Gentlemen Golfers at Leith (now the Honourable Company of Edinburgh Golfers at Muirfield) with a Silver Club on condition they draw up regulations for their competition and rules ‘for the goff’.The following month Rattray won the first ever competition for the Silver Club, was duly appointed ‘Captain of the Goff’ and became the sole signatory of the first known written ‘Rules of Golf’.
18 months later the Jacobites entered Edinburgh and Rattray’s older brother James, the Laird of Craighall, suggested he offer his medical services to Bonnie Prince Charlie, I say suggested, as Clan Chief he chose which side to be on for family members.
Please note not all followed their Clan Chief, this split many families down the middle, you had brothers taking different sides during th ‘45 Uprising.
As the Jacobites mobilised ahead of Prestonpans, Rattray, who lived at South Foulis Close off the High Street, rode to the East Lothian encampment along with John Lauder, a fellow of the Incorporation of Surgeons, according to their records he tended the wounded and travelled as surgeon with the army as it advanced into England and then retreated from Derby, eventually becoming surgeon general and personal surgeon to Prince Charles.
Records also show Rattray and Lauder were captured on the battlefield at Culloden on April 16 1746. The pair were held in a church in Inverness and their medical instruments removed, according to accounts. They were moved to Inverness Prison three days later. Their detention, however, was short lived after Lord President Forbes sought a direct reprieve for Rattray and Lauder from the Duke of Cumberland, Forbes, the same Forbes mentioned in the poem, and a friend of the surgeon.
Following his release, Rattray headed to Culloden House, the family home of his golfing companion.
One account of his release in The Lyon in Mourning, a collection of papers, letters and speeches of Jacobite supporters of the ‘45 Uprising, said: “Mr John Rattray came to Culloden House after his liberation at Inverness. President Forbes told the said Mr Rattray that he had obtained his liberation upon condition that he should become evidence.”
John Rattray was horrified by the prospect of becoming a witness for the state, according to the account.
It added: “This provoked Mr Rattray so much that he told the President in a passion that he would far choose to give himself up in a second and to return to the miserable situation of a prisoner once more than to become an evidence.”
Lord President Forbes convinced him not to surrender with the law man sure he was able to spare the surgeon. The medics returned to Edinburgh and Rattray confided in a friend about Lord Presidents’ offer.
It is said the Lord President, who died the following year, was so taken aback at Rattray sharing details of the proposal that “it had bad effects upon the President’s health, and even hastened his death.
“It is indeed a prevailing opinion that the President died of a broken heart,” the account said.
Rattray was quickly seized in the capital and was again taken prisoner on 28 May 1746 before being sent to London, by Cumberland’s orders, to act as a witness.
He was finally released on January 7 1747 and eventually returned to his usual routine of work and sport.
In 1751, he won the Silver Club for the third time. Today, you can visit a statue of John Rattray on Leith Links, close to the first hole of the original course that was played 276 years ago. He died in Edinburgh on 5th July 1771.

+100 Reasons Why I Love Ougai Mori
There are more but I'm too lazy to share them all
Original idea from sigma.analysis on Instagram!
Spoilers from manga, some light novels... And more
Of course this will be full of my personal opinion
Warning: Long post
Now let's start with the reasons!
1) He shares last name with an actress of a telenovela I love so much (Rubí, Bárbara Mori)
2) His voice (Latin Spanish, English and Japanese)
3) His smirks
4) His hairstyles
5) He knows what he wants
6) His ability, it's great and raises so many questions:
How free is Elise really? Does Elise know where she comes from and the abilities in general? How did Mori discovered his ability? And etc–
7) He is so smart, sad that people sometimes forget it
8) He is SO grey and questionable as a character → his morals, his way of being...
9) His calm energy
10) He can fight and defend himself without Elise
11) He can be scary when he wants to (example: that scene with Lucy)
12) He is so rational and realistic
13) How he changes his mood in one second to the next
14) He's hot (for me)
15) He got me into reading the works from the in real life author
16) His character and ability are GREAT references of works from the in real life author and his life
17) Now Rintarou Mori is my favorite writer thanks to him (as I said in reason 15, the character got me to reading about Rintarou)
18) Ougai is aware of the things he has done
19) ↑ And has a such and acidic and cruel attitude about the barbarities he has done that I love and hate so much
20) His knowledge of medicine and anatomy is frightening and wonderful in a weird way
21) He's so tall compared to me, I love taller people than me sorry (I'm 148 cm tall)
22) He gave me the lesson that a good leader doesn't have to be necessary a good person, and a good person doesn't have to be necessary a good leader
23) He is so badass
24) How similar he is compared to Chuuya's biological dad
25) The "Absolutely no chance!" with Fukuzawa and the punch
26) One of my highest kinnies
27) The way he was introduced in the chapter with Lucy
28) His first appearance with Elise and candle
29) ↑ I still was surprised when Mori goes to a place aND BOOM PORT MAFIA MEMBERS–
30) His pose with the hands supremacy
31) Okay but his attitude with Taneda (poor Ango)
32) His panels drawn by Hoshikawa-sensei
33) His laugh
34) He made a motherfucking big plan which Oda ends up dying and everything fOR A TINY (important) ENVELOPE– He thinks in everything!
35) Amazing antagonist
No, I don't think he's a villain
Yes, I'm too lazy to explain it here
36) The fact that Mori makes Elise disobeys when he wants her to do it even if that makes me want to cry
37) He is so clingy and cloying that I love knowing I'm not the only person like that
38) He's not obsessed with children because he's a pedo and I love that
He stuck himself between wanting to mentor the younger generation to help them grow into their potential and throwing everyone's emotions and desires (including his own) out the window in favour of the """optimal solution"""
He's not a pedo... He just has a weird obsession-favoritism with 12 year old girls and younger
That I can explain it to you using: Works from Ougai, Genetics, Society, Comparing 4 cases with Mori interacting with people + Elise...
39) He is like Perry The Platypus
«Weird old man?
OUGAI MORI THE PORT MAFIA BOSS WEIRD OLD MAN!?»
40) Hard to believe or not, the character helped me a lot to understand myself, comprehend my attitude and accept myself (as a walking red flag) when I was going through a rough time
I was really like "OMG NO I'M NOT LIKE MORI STOP–" and now I'm "Yeah I'm tiny Mori" that's character development my bois
41) He got my attention and I want to know about Thomas Schelling, John Forbes Nash and Henry Kissinger
42) His beautiful messy dark hair
43) How different he is with people and how he is with Elise, I find it so cute (and sad)
44) "Tell me Dazai, why is it your wish to die?" That chat was amazing
45) How different he looks compared to the in real life author
46) How observant and analytical he is
47) He helped Atsushi when he could get out of Lucy's ability by himself!
48) His soft smile when Chuuya accepts his vision of leadership and pledges his loyalty to him
49) In Yosano's backstory and Dazai's backstory... Mori did the same error and didn't learn a shit, you are amazing old man (mockery)
50) Dude how can you project yourself on Dazai and teach him manipulation? You did bad but you taught him many things that ended up helping him– But how can you project yourself in him???
51) I have SO many theories about Mori that I loved doing: His past and reasons why he is like that, why he projected himself on Dazai, why Elise is a child, etc... And his relationship with Natsume
52) I make so many content about him exploring fanon and canon Mori! OCs that either have a good relationship with him or have traumas with him, there's no in between
Some headcanons, random scenarios, etc
53) He's a drama queen sometimes, that's amazing
54) Wan Mori is my mood and my friends are really like Wan Dazai damn [sob]
55) He looks so ugly sometimes I love him
56) He's a (sadistic) doctor but I'm sure he made more damage than healing (that's the thing a doctor does). I'm completely sure of (and love) that irony of the character
57) His friendship with Kouyou
58) His chat with Ozaki after the things with Kyouka was sad for me
He really thought "Hey, this girl has nothing to bind her to the mafia, she's sure to leave, she can do it" but Ozaki chose to stay, to help him. Mori was so honest, didn't hide his emotions and was truly happy to hear that she was going to stay, such an emotional and relatable moment for me
I will not go deep on the dialogue, just the emotions
In the manga it was first a shock scene, just shock... I would say even distrustful of her words
But then his smile was very soft, nodding, maybe proud of the fact that Ozaki feels comfortable in the mafia after he became the leader
In the anime it was the same but with a sad expression, there was more melancholy in his words, his facial expression...
And that's why I cry a lot with that scene
59) He loves the city, he wants to protect it so much even if that's really hard to see...
Aww cute thing of the old man
60) His organization means so much for him, the PM is more than "a group of people" to him, I love how he takes care of them, how he seeks, acts and does everything possible for their wellness
Also he's really like «My bois, my people, I want the best of you but please don't act like idiots when I'm not looking– Omg you're just doing it! Damn I will fix everything because this is a disaster, and I hate disasters»
61) Just the fact, only the fact, that he throws everyone's emotions and desires (including his own) out the window in favour of the """optimal solution"""
62) He is aware to the fact that Osamu is superior to him in some things (predict future actions and be many steps ahead compared to the rest) and he accepts it
Ougai (in my point of view) is just irritated that he doesn't have Dazai at his side to use him, but he leaves it that way, he sees his reality, and accepts it but hates it a lot
63) “But doesn't Mori want to have him back to his side?”
Yes, as I said, he is irritated, accepts but hate that fact. He doesn't like it when when things are TOO far out his control, he is stubborn, he is "human" despite being a bastard
64) I appreciate that he kept his promise to Chuuya, Ougai REALLY GAVE HIM THE DOCUMENTS after he became executive when he could easily hide them from Nakahara to the end
Mori did good there, he kept his promise
65) I support that he dislikes dirty things, raw food and mackerel in miso–
SAME MORI SAME
66) One thing that MUST be appreciated:
Even of the traumas, how "evil" Port Mafia is, how bad is Mori, etc– He gives people with no home a place they belong to and where they are accepted
He created a whole good atmosphere for his people you know??? Dude they look comfy there, they don't desperately want to leave the organization (at least most of them, I'm not counting Kyouka and Dazai at all) and they are able to consider themselves a family, see the PM as a home, that is incredible. How close Black Lizard are, Chuuya and Ozaki, Ozaki and Mori, etc
67) He treats people in SUCH different ways I love it
68) He doesn't treat people with the same level of empathy, that's great and so normal... The not-normal thing about his empathy is how he traumatizes people but I'm talking in a people-in-the-real-world context
69) This panel:
Tumblr media
How he looks at Natsume
70) He reminds me of many songs from my favorite band! (Set It Off) Such as Duality, Peekaboo, Skeleton... And more
But specially Skeleton
71) Compared to other characters I love: Idc if people hate him, it's great! Mori is a bastard, I don't have problems if you hate him until you obligate me to also hate him
I don't mind if you insult him, when some friends do that I join them because OMG HE DESERVES THOSE WORDS. But go on, hate him, I will not obligate you to love him because it's good that you hate him, just don't obligate me to hate him
72) He's a bastard BUT I STILL LOVE HIM– That thing is really weird in me, right Hisoka from Hunter X Hunter and Adam from SK8? /jk
Okay but actually compared to the rest, I love more Ougai because he's better compared to them
73) He makes the Port Mafia being the less bad option in awful scenarios
74) He also makes HIMSELF the less bad option in awful scenarios
75) How he saw Yosano fall to pieces in front of him because of his own words
That wasn't manipulation, he was literally hurting her because he wanted to...
That's a very shock scene and his face of "I don't give a fuck" omg I love this but hate myself of me liking that
I personally think that he said those things to hurt her on purpose for her to act in a way and/or affect the rest of the ADA that was there
76) He has beautiful eyes (anime)
77) This weird feeling-theory of him wanting to die...
Like dude why do you focus on you dying because of Dazai? Why do you keep torturing Yosano, you know she will end up doing something to you right? You really want that? You want to get hurt that badly? To die?
78) He is REALLY happy in Beast, not fake emotions there
79) Okay in Beast he offered emotional support to a lost teenager by LITERALLY offering to be his dad (+ expressed his past will to save another lost teenager)
AAWWWW MORI I LOVE U
80) He took over a shitty orphanage and made it good in Beast...
Same character, the only differences is where he is + he's 2 years younger
81) His weird "monologues" (like that scene of chess about Aku)
82) Elise treating him like trash, that's amazing AND sad because she has something of him, she's HIS ability! Dude do you see yourself as a trash that hard?
83) He wanted to catch Atsushi to gain the money AND NOT TO KILL HIM, dude that's nice, he didn't want to kill him
84) He isn't afraid of taking innocent lives to increase the Port Mafia's own benefit
85) He has cooperated with ADA <3 (his "enemy")
86) He doesn't punish Ryonosuke even if he disobeys lot of orders. Mori values his skills and contributions to the organization even if he does something that has nothing to do with what he was ordered to do
87) His eyes in the manga are drawing in different (and beautiful) ways... There's the normal ones, the "just black" (like, really just black or similar to black) and darker but not black...
And many shades–
88) A survivor to a war, THE GREAT WAR
89) No matter how high is the risk, Ougai takes that risk and even goes far as to raise the stakes
90) How he made Dazai feel true shock with Q, I love that panel
Tumblr media
91) Has the same blood type as me (O)
92) His parallels with Mikoto Souh and Reisi Munakata (leaders of OPPOSING organizations) from K Project
93) Okay but he in the ops–
94) He sees many things as a chess game and how compared to me, chess doesn't give him anxiety
95) He shares birthday with other of my favourite characters, Kajii Motojirou!
96) He's a really mysterious character, we only know a little part of his past... Which is why I do theories about him, yes
97) How we don't know if he knows about Ryonosuke's illness
98) He sucks in throwing darts
99) Literally wrote a message to enemies using CRAYONS
100) I like to understand at least most of the character's mind and mimic him easily!
101) ↑ I also love helping friends with that, it feels amazing
102) We have seen few of his real emotions because most of the time he hides them or fakes them
103) Bro what did he do to Kyouka so only his presence could make her panic?
And Kouyou knows that???? Hi??? I need answers
104) Thank you for sending Kajii and make him do chaos in a boat/yacht/whatever, that was an amazing idea
105) When Mori got sick being close to death, the Port Mafia knowing that killing Fukuzawa could save him, went for that alternative immediately without thinking any consequences...
They love their boss I'm gonna cry
106) He knows the ADA aren't terrorists
107) His weird old doctor clothes
108) His weird dracula leader of the Port Mafia clothes
109) His uniform at the military
110) No trembling, second thoughts or second-guessing and the moment to kill someone (like poor Tachihara's brother)
111) The way in which he uses and attacks with scalpels
112) His hair is easy to draw for me
113) I want to give a hug to this man, dude aren't you stressed at the mafia???
Aren't you tired of people and your ability treating you like trash??? About all of your responsibilities???? You need a rest old man
114) Even if I don't shipp them: The parallels of Kouyou and Mori with Chuuya's biological parents. "Oh, I didn't tell you I'm from the army?" omg they are so close
115) How he scared Tachihara, that hat scene was amazing HE ACTED SO NORMALLY–
116) He always knew about the spies in his organization and let them have close relationships with other members, Ango is a loyal person himself, while Tachihara is now the most loyal member to the mafia, more than Chuuya...
Mori why??? Stop, you are torturing them–
117) His shock in the manga about Francis knowing where the Port Mafia was
118) His chat with Hirotsu about the previous leader
119) Changing his mood from one second to the next
120) There are great AMVs about him in YouTube! (not the shipps ones)
121) When Mori manipulates, he doesn't lie
He gives SOME parts of the information, he strategizes very carefully when, how and where he will reveal information to people
122) He earns Kouyou's royalty by being a better boss than the old boss
123) He earns Chuuya's loyalty by being a better leader with advice to give
124) He almost gets what he wants in return
125) He wanted Fukuzawa to died instead of him (cannibalism arc) because of 2 reasons: Ougai new that his organization would be mad about AND do stupid (destroy) things because of that
He knows them so well–
126) After what Paul did to the mafia, killing some members (Flags), Mori still helped him, hides him from the government aND MADE HIM AN EXECUTIVE-
That's so nice Mori
127) He is IMPORTANT in BSD Beast, the story without his scene hits different you know?
128) The way he manipulates, the way he uses words, the actions he does, how he sees it like a chess game– And he's so calm about it the fuck
129) His different types of smiles I swear
130) He used Ace as a tool because of his money LMAOOOOO
131) LITERALLY has a 3D version
Tumblr media
That cosplayer supremacy 🛐
132) He makes mistakes, he isn't perfect, ignoring how he did the same mistake with both Yosano and Dazai, for example: Mori, sweetie, you didn't have to leave Ace in charge of Fyodor, that was a TERRIBLE idea
133) The theory from @/videogamelover99 about Mori related to the Arahabaki project
Specially the real-life connections
134) How Homra Daikazoku fits him and the Port Mafia a lot not only because of the meaning of the song, also because of the context with Homra in K Project
135) I love his ease in sacrificing several of his "pieces" in order to double or triple the damage to his enemy
136) Dude please stop enjoying the fact of people around you fearing you a lot 'cause I'm starting to envy your self-esteem or questionable thoughts as to be SO comfortable with that
137) He takes really serious to keep the balance in Yokohama
138) Vita Sexualis requires strength and energy...
And he uses it MOST of the time wow– How does he do that????
139) I can't say anything of his obsessive AND possessive personality because I'm the same–
Feel ya old man but pls stop
140) His first designs omg
141) I hate dogs, I dislike them a lot but damn I would be his dog and be "WOOF WOOF BARK BARK"
I simp him that hard damn
142) He's one of the few characters that I actually have memorized his voice (without counting seiyuus), the other ones are Undertaker (Kuroshitsuji), Izumo Kusanagi (K Project) and Cherry Blossom (SK8)
143) You can see how times go by on his face, he's physically different from his past self and it shows, specially in his wrinkles
144) This theory in about abuse chain, Akutagawa-Dazai, Dazai-Mori AND (@/amethystroselily) Mori-Natsume
145) "It's necessary to hit the enemy's vital point in one strike"
146) Ougai gives me the same vibes as Vita Sexualis protagonist, daddy and mommy issues + similar personalities you know?
147) "The leader of an organization is at the pinnacle of that organization and, at the same time, he is its slave. The leader must be more than willing to commit any atrocity in order to ensure the organization's survival"
148) THE WAYS KAJII CALLS HIM: Grand Marshal of Outer Space, Outer-space Marshal, Grand Marchal of Space
149) He calls his members by "kun" EXCEPT for Hirotsu, I love that detail
150) Changing his mood from one second to the next
151) "I like this city, its dark, seedier parts included... But parasites like you nauseate me" [dies]
152) The way Elise calls him, I feel sorry for him and laugh at how she insults Mori so much
153) Thank you for giving Arthur a home
154) Thank you for doing exams on Arthur because of his cold because you were worried
155) Love how Ougai can't control Verlaine and take him out if the Port Mafia's basement
156) His "Sakunosuke Oda is risking his life to eliminate a troublesome, violeny group. It's a win-win situation. So why are you so angry?" 'cause he's as blind as me, not all the people don't have problems about ignoring our own emotions–
157) In Stormbringer he was in a place far far away really safe AND OMG THAT CALL WAS AMAZING specially the part like "Oh yes, I can see everything of what's happening" LMAOOOOOO
158) Similar to the author, I have a weird mix of feelings: When I read the author's works (Hanako, Kinka, The Dancing Girl, for giving some examples) I'm in shock, amazed, curious and THE SAME happens with Ougai Mori from BSD
159) He's my blorbo: My favorite character that I can't stop thinking about him, I can't shut up when talking about him and I can't explain how he makes me feel
160) I did many things thanks to the character:
Read the manga, based on that I continue reading things related to BSD, accounts of theories, analysis, I meet people, an ex friend, some close friends I really love a lot...
Because of my fanaticism for him, my life change for better, Ougai and BSD makes me happy, and that's the biggest reason of why I love him

Fic title: country road, take me home
PLOT:
Griddlehark, Modern AU -> Harrow and Gideon grew up together in the run down orphanage that Harrow's parents own. They hate each other, loathe each other, depend on each other for survival. When Harrow is 10 and Gideon is 11, the orphanage is shut down in a scandal that has Harrow packed off to the foster care system and Gideon is taken in to live with her long lost father. The fic follows them reconnecting and rediscovering each other after so many years apart!!
PLOT POINTS:
When Harrow is 10, two things happen: 1) Harrow discovers her parents have been doing [very horrible things, perhaps to Gideon, perhaps something more general like tax fraud], which leads to her parents attempting a murder suicide together with the groundskeeper, Mortus. Harrow is the only 1 of the 4 who survive, and the entire event leads leads to the orphanage getting investigated and shut down, the children dispersed to the winds. 2) In the mess, Gideon is identified and then taken away to live with her long lost father, former climate activist turned bioengineer and researcher, former Forbes 30-under-30, former TIME magazine person of the year, John Gaius.
And it's… fine. It's great, actually! Harrow's parents were cruel but Harrow was no better, really, and so Gideon is thankful to be taken away and doesn't look back. At first. Her father is... nice....... his friends are kind of weird and rude but Gideon has felt worse so like, whatever. And she can go to school now! And has friends! And her new life is comfortable in a way she previously couldn't even imagine was possible. She almost forgets what it feels like to be hungry and cold and scared, and no one has even come close to raising a hand against her. but something is *missing*, and eventually Gideon realizes that something is Harrow. Unable to deal with the aching emptiness in her life, Gideon convinces John to let her take a gap year after highschool to "see the world", that she then uses to search for Harrow
Harrow, in turn, has been having an utterly terrible time. Utterly dogshit. Bounced around endlessly, haunted by visions of her parents' corpses and more than angry at Gideon for the perceived crime of leaving her. Highschool dropout who is couch surfing with her pitying & protective (not that Harrow would ever accept either of those things) Abigail, who owns the 24 hour diner that Harrow washes dishes at. She has basically been getting a swirly in the torment nexus for 8 straight years!!! Eventually, Harrow decided to just... forget about Gideon. She decided to erase that part of her life because it hurts too much.... until Gideon shows up.
The way they meet is: Gideon, exhausted and hopeless after months of searching with no leads, rolls into a random small town diner at 2am. Harrow's in the back, so she doesn't see Gideon until Gideon is leaving. Gideon tries to chase her down but Harrow ignores her, pretends not to know her, and then locks herself in a closet to get away from her. Eventually, Magnus (chef) ends up having to kick Gideon out, all while Gideon tearfully explains who Harrow is to her and why she's there while Abigail (called in to help) tries to coax Harrow down from her panic attack and then out of the closet like some kind of wounded animal.
The rest of the fic is like imagine is Abigail, Magnus, AND Gideon all were trying to trap a feral cat without scaring her away but that cat is Harrow. Gideon and Harrow eventually tenderly reunite and kiss and maybe even more!!! There is a lot of tragic backstory revealing and emotional conversations, guilt and angst that eventually leads to very cathardic reconnection. They find HOME in EACH OTHER!! The end!!!

I'll probably do a week instead of a day for each poll and post them in very small batches so nobody has to drive to my house and kill me. i will post them at whatever time of day and I'm sorry in advance. you have no idea how difficult it was to think of 32. i had to go back in time and converse with myself at ages of all prime numbers and multiples of 3 to get a clear picture

Earlier this week, WIRED published a story about the AI-powered search startup Perplexity, which Forbes has accused of plagiarism. In it, my colleague Dhruv Mehrotra and I reported that the company was surreptitiously scraping, using crawlers to visit and download parts of websites from which developers had tried to block it, in violation of its own publicly stated policy of honoring the Robots Exclusion Protocol.
Our findings, as well as those of the developer Robb Knight, identified a specific IP address almost certainly linked to Perplexity and not listed in its public IP range, which we observed scraping test sites in apparent response to prompts given to the company’s public-facing chatbot. According to server logs, that same IP visited properties belonging to Condé Nast, the media company that owns WIRED, at least 822 times in the past three months—likely a significant undercount, because the company retains only a small portion of its records.
We also reported that the chatbot was bullshitting, in the technical sense. In one experiment, it generated text about a girl following a trail of mushrooms when asked to summarize the content of a website that its agent did not, according to server logs, attempt to access.
Perplexity and its CEO, Aravind Srinivas, did not substantively dispute the specifics of WIRED’s reporting. “The questions from WIRED reflect a deep and fundamental misunderstanding of how Perplexity and the Internet work,” Srinivas said in a statement. Backed by Jeff Bezos’ family office and by Nvidia, among others, Perplexity has said it is worth a billion dollars based on its most recent fundraising round, and The Information reported last month that it was in talks for a new round that would value it at $3 billion. (Bezos did not reply to an email; Nvidia declined to comment.)
After we published the story, I prompted three leading chatbots to tell me about the story. OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Anthropic’s Claude generated text offering hypotheses about the story’s subject but noted that they had no access to the article. The Perplexity chatbot produced a six-paragraph, 287-word text closely summarizing the conclusions of the story and the evidence used to reach them. (According to WIRED's server logs, the same bot observed in our and Knight’s findings, which is almost certainly linked to Perplexity but is not in its publicly listed IP range, attempted to access the article the day it was published, but was met with a 404 response. The company doesn't retain all its traffic logs, so this is not necessarily a complete picture of the bot's activity, or that of other Perplexity agents.) The original story is linked at the top of the generated text, and a small gray circle links out to the original following each of the last five paragraphs. The last third of the fifth paragraph exactly reproduces a sentence from the original: “Instead, it invented a story about a young girl named Amelia who follows a trail of glowing mushrooms in a magical forest called Whisper Woods.”
This struck me and my colleagues as plagiarism. It certainly appears to satisfy the criteria set out by Poynter Institute—including, perhaps most stringently, the seven-to-10 word test, which proposes that it’s “hard to incidentally replicate seven consecutive words that appear in another author’s work.” (Kelly McBride, a Poynter SVP who has described this test as being useful in identifying plagiarism, did not reply to an email.)
“If one of my students turned in a story like this, I would take them before the academic dishonesty committee for plagiarism,” said John Schwartz, professor of practice at the University of Texas at Austin’s journalism school, after reading the original story and the summary. “I find this just too close. When I was reading the Perplexity version, I just thought, there’s an echo in here.”
Perplexity and Srinivas, the company’s CEO, did not respond to a detailed request for comment in which they were presented with the criticisms experts made of the company for this story.
Bill Grueskin, professor of professional practice at Columbia Journalism School, wrote in an email that the summary looked to be “pretty much ok” for a chatbot identified as such, but that it was hard to say because he hadn’t had time to read the original WIRED story. “Quoting a sentence verbatim without quote marks is bad, of course,” he wrote. “I'd be pretty mortified if a news org ran an AI summary like this without disclosing the source—or worse, pretending it came from a human.” (Perplexity, of course, isn’t claiming this material came from a human.)
Perhaps luckily for Perplexity and its backers, this is a literal academic debate. Plagiarism is a concept pertaining to professional ethics, important in contexts like journalism and academia where being able to identify the source of information is of fundamental importance but of no legal significance in itself. If a rival studio releases a film containing a reasonable chunk of footage from Inside Out 2, Disney would sue not for plagiarism but for copyright infringement; similarly, a letter Forbes reportedly sent Perplexity threatening legal action is said to mention “willful infringement” of Forbes’ copyrights. Here, legal experts say, Perplexity is on somewhat safer ground—probably.
“In terms of the copyright, this is a tough call,” says James Grimmelmann, professor of digital and information law at Cornell University. On one hand, he argues, the summary is reporting facts, which cannot be copyrighted; but on the other, it does partially duplicate the original and summarize the details found in it. “It’s not a slam dunk copyright case, but it’s not trivial, either. It’s not frivolous.”
Grimmelmann sees a host of potential issues for Perplexity, among them consumer protection, unfair advertising, or deceptive trade practices claims he believes could be made against a company that says it respects the Robots Exclusion Protocol but doesn’t follow it. (The standard is voluntary but widely adhered to.) He also thinks it could be vulnerable to a claim of misappropriation of hot news, in which a publisher argues that a competitor summarizing its material before it’s had a chance to commercially benefit from it, or in a way that undermines its value to paying subscribers, is infringing on its copyright. Perplexity’s evident ability to circumvent paywalls “is a bad fact for them,” he says, as is the fact that its system is automated.
Grimmelmann also says that Perplexity may be forfeiting the protection of Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act. This is the law that, among other things, protects search engines like Google from liability for defamation when they link to defamatory content because they are services passing on information from other content providers; as he sees it, Perplexity is similarly shielded as long as it accurately summarizes material. (Whether AI-generated material enjoys 230 protection at all is a matter of debate.)
“They’d only get in trouble if they summarized the story incorrectly and made it defamatory when it wasn’t before. That’s something that they actually would be at legal risk for, especially if they don’t credit the original source clearly enough and people can’t easily go to that source to check,” he says. “If Perplexity’s edits are what make the story defamatory, 230 doesn’t cover that, under a bunch of case law interpreting it.”
In one case WIRED observed, Perplexity’s chatbot did falsely claim, albeit while prominently linking to the original source, that WIRED had reported that a specific police officer in California had committed a crime. (“We have been very upfront that answers will not be accurate 100% of the time and may hallucinate,” Srinivas said in response to questions for the story we ran earlier this week, “but a core aspect of our mission is to continue improving on accuracy and the user experience.”)
“If you want to be formal,” says Grimmelmann, “I think this is a set of claims that would get past a motion to dismiss on a bunch of theories. Not saying it will win in the end, but if the facts bear out what Forbes and WIRED, the police officer—a bunch of possible plaintiffs—allege, they are the kinds of things that, if proven and other facts were bad for Perplexity, could lead to liability.”
Not all experts agree with Grimmelmann. Pam Samuelson, professor of law and information at UC Berkeley, writes in an email that copyright infringement is “about use of another’s expression in a way that undercuts the author’s ability to get appropriate remuneration for the value of the unauthorized use. One sentence verbatim is probably not infringement.”
Bhamati Viswanathan, a faculty fellow at New England Law, says she’s skeptical the summary passes a threshold of substantial similarity usually necessary for a successful infringement claim, though she doesn’t think that’s the end of the matter. “It certainly should not pass the sniff test,” she wrote in an email. “I would argue that it should be enough to get your case past the motion to dismiss threshold—particularly given all the signs you had of actual stuff being copied.”
In all, though, she argues that focusing on the narrow technical merits of such claims may not be the right way to think about things, as tech companies can adjust their practices to honor the letter of dated copyright laws while still grossly violating their purpose. She believes an entirely new legal framework may be necessary to correct for market distortions and promote the underlying aims of US intellectual property law, among them to allow people to financially benefit from original creative work like journalism so that they’ll be incentivized to produce it—with, in theory, benefits to society.
“There are, in my opinion, strong arguments to support the intuition that generative AI is predicated upon large scale copyright infringement,” she writes. “The opening ante question is, where do we go from there? And the greater question in the long run is, how do we ensure that creators and creative economies survive? Ironically, AI is teaching us that creativity is more valuable and in demand than ever. But even as we recognize this, we see the potential for undermining, and ultimately eviscerating, the ecosystems that enable creators to make a living from their work. That’s the conundrum we need to solve—not eventually, but now.”

The show that changed Tom Holland’s life: “Now I am able to put myself in a mental pace where I’m really happy.” | El País
The actor stars in his first series, The Crowded Room, a psychological thriller with mental health and trauma at its core
For Tom Holland (London, 27 years old), the series The Crowded Room has changed his life. "Now I am a much happier person, I am in a much better place," he said in an interview with EL PAÍS by video call last week, just the day before his twenty-seventh birthday. The actor, known worldwide for playing Peter Parker, Spider-Man, in the cinema since 2017, is now starring in his first series, the psychological thriller The Crowded Room, which premieres on Apple TV+ on Friday the 9th.
Tom plays Danny Sullivan, a shy and antisocial young man who ends up involved in a shooting in Rockefeller Center in New York in 1979. During the interrogation to which he is subjected by an investigator (played by Amanda Seyfried), Danny reviews his life, his relationships with friends and family, and how it all led him to where he is. The story gradually unfolds like a puzzle in which the pieces make sense and fall into place as the episodes go by. Knowing more than these small details can mean spoiling the viewer's experience and the twists it keeps.
The filming process lasted for 10 months, and the entire process involved a great effort for the actor, as he now explains. “We dealt with sensitive material, a roller-coaster of emotions that ended up taking its toll on me personally,” he recalls. “The whole process of making the series helped me deepen into myself. I have come to better understand what I am capable of, what I can handle, what triggers me and sends me into a spiral. Now I am able to put myself in a mental pace where I’m really happy,” he continues.
Screenwriter Akiva Goldsman, Academy award winner in 2002 for the screenplay of A Beautiful Mind, is the creator of this story with which, in his own words, he intends to “generate empathy towards those who suffer trauma related to an illness mental.” Goldsman knows that area well, both personally (both of his parents are child psychologists) and professionally (A Beautiful Mind was based on the life of mathematician John Forbes Nash, who suffered from schizophrenia). “His knowledge and his experience on the subject are endless,” Holland notes of Goldsman. “To me he was a mentor, a confidant, a friend, someone to lean on whenever I needed, and a great source of information on these matters.” The actor assures that the series has changed his views on trauma and mental health. “I hope it will serve as a learning experience for millions of people around the world because we need to understand what life can be like for these poor people.”
The main character of The Crowded Room is based on a real man, Billy Milligan —again, better not to know more details because a simple search on the internet can destroy the viewing experience—, but in the series they decided to opt for the path of fiction instead of recreating his history. “One of the reasons we did it is because we wanted people to empathize with Danny and understand his actions and why he does them,” explains the actor.
For his first series (he participated in the British Wolf Hall in 2015, but this is his first starring role on television), Holland wanted to live the full experience. He accepted the job before any script was written and decided not only to participate as an actor, but also as an executive producer to follow all phases of the process, from beginning to end. “It's been very interesting for me to understand how television works, to navigate a 10-hour story instead of two and a half hours. It's been a huge learning curve and I think the audience will appreciate it because it's a real psychological thriller that makes you think, keeps you alert and hooked,” he describes.
“Possibly, it would have been easier for me to just be the lead, but I love learning new things. I love this industry and working in it, the creative process and the collaboration between departments, and I wanted to be a part of this in a more hands-on way,” he adds. He was even present in the conversations leading up to the writing of the script. “Akiva [Goldsman] only had one outline for each chapter back then. We talked about the episodes, the turning points, and then once we had the 10 episodes outlined in a more solid way, he and his writing team put it on paper. They did a great job. I hate reading scripts, it's the part of my job that I really don't like. But reading these scripts was fantastic”, recalls the actor.
The level of involvement that Tom Holland assumed in this series is surprising. And his response is also surprising when asked about the best part of the whole process: “To be totally honest, I would say the editing process. I worked with Akiva and the editor every week, we would meet at least twice a week and go through the episodes, and they would listen to my thoughts. It was a great experience to see how these experts did what they do best. Some episodes completely changed order. I loved that they allowed me to be part of that process of building the puzzle.”
Now, Holland takes things more calmly. Personally, he has been in a relationship for a long time with another Hollywood star, Zendaya, his co-star in Spider-Man. Months ago he decided to interact in a more casual way with social networks. He has explained that he has been sober for a year and four months and is involved in associations related to youth mental health. Professionally, the writers' strike paralyzed the project to launch what would be his fourth Spider-Man movie. A short break for someone he has been working non-stop since he made his film debut with J. A. Bayona with The Impossible in 2012. Would he like to get back into a working relationship with Spain? “There may be something small in the making, yes. With the writers' strike, everything has stopped, we are not developing anything in solidarity with our friends on strike. But I've been talking to Bayona and maybe there's something we can do together. He changed my life, I owe him a lot and I love him, he is one of my dearest friends. So maybe you will see me in a movie with him in the next few years,” he advances.

DROP THE BSD POLITICAL HCS PLS PLS PLS
ok so i dont have them for all the characters but uhhh here's what i got (this got unnecessarily long so im putting this under the cut):
kunikida is a commie for sure, probably an anarchist and the theory reading kind too. he's probably involved with local initiatives and tried to radicalize his coworkers at least once. he got unreasonably exited when kenji joined bc the kid is definitely a commie as well. kenji is still a little young (plus he barely knows how money works) so he's been actively explaining what capitalism is to him
kenji basically lived in a commune all his life and wants everyone to be happy, learning what capitalism is and how it works made him incredibly sad, but he's also really determined and so he's been talking about communism to everyone he meets when running around the city
ranpo is a centrist, thinks people who are legitimately invested in politics are stupid and foolish and always brings up the horseshoe theory, doesn't help that poe is crazy rich and works for capitalism incarnate
dazai, when asked, will claim whatever political ideology he thinks is the funniest in given situation, which in practice means he talks abt being an anarcho capitalist just to piss kunikida off (he's been very succesfull so far, almost convinced atsushi that the whole thing made sense). for real though, he think politics is stupid and doesn't really have that much impact, but he also only thinks of politics as the direct actions of the government, rather than ideas, and he's met enough politicians in his mafia days to consider the whole thing corrupt and not worth his time (also mori used to canonically make his read theory which i think is so so funny)
atsushi was generally cut off from the world for the majority of his life, so he only started getting interested after joining the ada. he likes to talk about it and tries to watch the news and read theory trying to develop an informed outlook. he's very left leaning and partial to communism too (except for that one time dazai almost convinced him anarcho capitalism makes sense. he doesnt like to think about it)
yosano is a marxist feminist, vehemently anti-war, she used to come to feminist reading group at a local uni. her and kunikida talk abt politics a lot in their free time and recommend books and articles to each other. she's been trying to push kyouka and naomi to look into feminism too (succesfully)
chuuya is a libertarian and i refuse to believe otherwise. he really hated rich people when he was still with the sheep but after joining the mafia and spending too much time with mori and kouyou he decided that being rich was fine, actually. also he commits tax evasion bc why not, it's hardly the worst thing he does tbh, free market enthusiast
mori is a classical liberal, also canonically seems to be pretty well versed in economic theory (he mentions henry kissinger, thomas shelling and john forbes nash during the guild arc, funnily enough). his utalitarianism really comes through when he talks about politics, they're very kill or get killed (literally or economically), believes in free market
fukuzawa is kind of weird, he doesn't really subscribe to any ideology specifically. overall he's left leaning socially (all his kids are gay, so is he) but he's never actively questioned how the world works, or looked for an alternative. worth mentioning, he used to be an assasin for the government, and the only reason he stopped was due to personal disguist with how he was starting to enjoy it, he never seemed to wonder who and why is he killing, he just did his job completely uncritically, actively benefiting the state
as ive said before, fukuchi could be a commie if he wanted to, but instead of taking initiative in publicly speaking on the horrors of war and his hatred for national states he decided to become a cop, literally the worst he could have done
ok these are the ones i have like. active thought about, sorry this got so fucking long and i hope it's not unintelligible
