wada sez: To my knowledge, this strip is set after Escalation #6, in which Ratchet, Jimmy Pink and Verity Carlo narrowly escaped a booby-trapped building, only for Ironhide to be caught in the blast. They “tripped” the trap by picking up a Machination business card back in Escalation #4. The strip’s title is presumably taken from the famous track sung by Louis Armstrong, for whatever reason. Funnily enough, Tim Shinn applied his usual treatment to this comic, but got a bit overzealous with the composition, copying the artwork to create additional panels to better fill what he perceived as excessive negative space—our Gherkin also points out that he added a “Fan-riffic” in the first bubble, a reference to Hong Kong Phooey, another big voice role for Jazz’s original voice actor Scatman Crothers. The team went with the unaltered version, which lacks many of his lighting effects. I've included the alternate version below the break.

Julian Fellowes: “Maggie Smith was a truly great actress and we were more than fortunate to be part of the last act in her stellar career.  She was a joy to write for, subtle, many-layered, intelligent, funny and heart-breaking.  Working with her has been the greatest privilege of my career, and I will never forget her.”

In Violet Crawley, the Dowager Countess of Grantham, Maggie created one of the finest screen performances we have seen across six seasons of the television series and two movies, spanning twelve years. The entire cast and crew of Downton Abbey considered it an enormous honor to work with her, she was an actress of such stature whose incredible talent could encompass high comedy and full-blown tragedy. Off-screen she was particularly close to the cast who played the other members of her family and was very generous and full of encouragement for the younger actors. It is personally poignant that my late grandfather directed one of her finest performances in ’The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie’ for which she won her first Academy Award. Jean Brodie and Violet Grantham are but two creations in an extraordinary career spanning decades and delighting audiences across the globe. There is only one Maggie Smith and she will be greatly missed. Our thoughts are with her family.”

wada sez: Landfill is one of Budiansky’s stinky blorbos, a “veritable rolling garbage dump” with an “awful smell” who "leaves a trail of rotting refuse wherever he goes” and is “caked in muck and filth”—and “emits such a powerful odor that even the dumbest Decepticon tracker would have no difficulty finding him.” Fisher has settled on the exact opposite idea here, with Landfill’s fetid squalor being the only thing stopping the Decepticons from finding them.

In the Third Place Round, John Doe (Malevolent) has seized that coveted bronze with the help of his many vocal adoring fans. Your demonic babygirl has curbstomped Jod and avenged my blorbo, and so I thank you sincerely. He and Arthur have this nice get-along-medal to wear.

Steve trying to make conversation at the dinner table.

Steve: "So Gareth how did you meet Eddie?"

Gareth digging into dinner looking towards Wayne and then Eddie.

Gareth: "Well fun fact, Wayne was fucking my mom for awhile there and me him would have "playdates" aka dumping us at Jeff's moms house so they could screw each others brains out."

Wayne going wided eyed looking towards Eddie who was absolutely dying of laughter.

Steve: "And I thought my family was strange."

Eddie calming himself down enough to speak.

Eddie: "It doesn't end their, they were married for a year back when this little idiot was born so it's completely possible that he's my couisn."

Wayne groaning under his breath: "For the last time I can't have kids I'm infertile why do you think I adopted you, Gareth's mother had an affair with that South African dude."

Eddie: "I don't really believe his lies, but Martin aka his Steve Harrington but he would never don't drag him under the bus like that."

Wayne rolls his eyes shaking his head: "Shut up and eat you're dinner kiddo."

Steve couldn't believe this, he started looking between all three of them trying to see if he saw any relation.

Wayne: "Sherlock Holmes eat."

Eddie: "Does that make me Watson?"

Wayne groans under his breath just wanting a normal family dinner.
