This is my own fault for looking at ASOIAF/GoT stuff on Reddit…

Someone made a post asking what in the series made you angry and they posted a pic of Shae during Tyrion’s trial. Someone then replied ^this

Maybe it’s just my “I support women’s rights AND wrongs” and “they hate to see a girl boss winning, your honour” mind-set but I always loved Shae! She was trying to survive in a world that hated people (cough cough women cough) like her. I was very much under the impression that during the trial, she did what she had to do, considering that practically everyone though Tyrion was going to lose and that anyone siding with him wouldn’t fair well, either.

Loads of the comments were talking about her and Tywin but again, I assumed, we were all seeing that as a “not-exactly-consensual” relationship (talk about a fucking power imbalance). The OP realises that Sansa’s motivations were done of of fear, so why can’t they maybe possibly slightly extend that to Shae, too?

I don’t know. Am I getting annoyed at nothing? Should I blame myself for going on Reddit anyway? Am I in the minority with my views on Shae? Are only like 2 people gonna see this? 🫢

i think i’ve realized a niche archetype i really enjoy is character with religious trauma from a made-up religion. i think a character being like “i was raised christian and it fucked me up” is way less interesting to me because i’ve seen that a thousand times and i have my own preconceived biases and opinions about it, but a character being like “i was raised in this institutional and powerful religion where we worship blogar the blowjob god and it fucked me up” is SO INTERESTING! like, who are the people in charge of blogarism? what are they trying to accomplish by using this religion to their advantage? what are their rules and codes of conduct and what are they based in? why blowjobs?

I enjoy every version of Jon's antagonistic relationship with Alliser Thorne, but I can't believe GoT deprived me of SEEING Jon run down a table with a knife, kick a bowl of soup out of Thorne's hands, and try to stab him in the eyes.

you know what’s fucking hilarious. and by hilarious i mean frustrating in a way i should have predicted and has me shaking my head good naturedly and going oh you. i am trying to listen to an audiobook of my other favorite book of all time, the princess bride. operative word being trying. why is it so hard to find you may ask. i see it right now. it’s available on audible. it’s available on libby. well. okay. i need to discuss the metatextual nature of my other favorite book the princess bride to explain the problem so if you don’t know the Nature of the book and want the potential whimsey if you ever plan to read it stop reading this post right now. okay. anyway. if you’ve never read the book, the elder-telling-a-story part is also the main plot of that. william goldman (the author) claims he’s abridging an historical fiction text to be streamlined for regular audiences, and he’s basing his ‘editing choices’ on how his father read the story aloud to him and how he read the story aloud to his son* when he was sick. the book is set up with what is supposedly s. morgenstern’s original text mixed in with goldman’s commentary, with large chunks of morgernstern’s text omitted (the original manuscript is supposedly - i think, i haven’t read the book recently - about 800 pages, the princess bride is about 400 with ‘edits’). in reality, goldman is lying to you and the book is his completely original work, and the original historical text does not exist. back when i first read it and had limited internet and was also like eight this blew my fucking mind but that’s not the point. the point is. the point. is. do you know what the audiobook is. do you know what’s wrong with it. i know what’s wrong with it. it’s 3 hours long. and as a princess bride girlie i know what they’ve done they’ve made it into an Actual Story like someone is reading it to you to go to sleep which is nice and lovely. or whatever. but also. oh my goddddd where are the quote unquote edits i’m so serious that’s like half the book rob reiner i’m coming for your kneecaps.
