A/N: Thank you for the request, nonnie🩵 let me start off by saying, happy late late late birthday and my apologies for getting to your request so late🩷

“I think we should-” You got interrupted before you could finish your sentence.

“No.” The senator said.

“You don’t even know what I was going to say.” You say.

“Whatever it is, the answer is still no.” He says.

You sighed and rolled your eyes, leaning back in your chair.

Every idea or suggestion you bring up immediately gets shot down by the senator. All you’re trying to do is help people who were in the blip and he doesn’t like anything you come up with.

After the meeting, you were looking down at your phone and walking to your car when you bumped into someone and dropped your things.

“I’m so sorry!” You apologized. “I wasn’t paying attention to where I was walking.” You say, crouching down to pick up your things.

“It’s ok.” The man smiles and picked up your bag. “Sounds like you had a rough day today.” He says, helping you pick up your things.

“Rough doesn’t even begin to describe it.” You say.

The man gathered your things and handed them to you and stood up. You walked to your car with him following behind you. You put your things in your car before turning around to face him.

“I’m Y/N Y/L/N.” You held out your hand for him to shake.

“Sergeant James Barnes. Everyone I know calls me Bucky.” Bucky shook your hand. “I think I’ve heard your name before. Are you a politician?” He asks.

“Yes I am.” You answered with a smile.

“That’s why I recognized your name. I’ve seen you on the news a few times.” He said. “If it means anything, I think what you’re doing for the people who were in the blip is amazing.” He says.

“At least, you understand it. I can’t get the senator to understand it.” You say.

“Don’t tell him I said this, but he’s an idiot for not understanding your work.” He says.

You couldn’t help but laugh when Bucky said that. He’s not wrong.

“Do you want to get a drink?” Bucky asks.

“I’m going to have to take a rain check on that. I have a lot of work to do.” You say.

“That’s ok. I understand.” He says understandingly.

“Here’s my number if you want to call, text, or hangout.” You say, handing him your card.

“Will do, doll.” He says with a wink.

You give him a smile before he walked away. You got in your car and leaned your head against the headrest of the seat, sighing loudly. You just want to go home and put tonight’s meeting behind you.

The next morning, you gathered your things for work and left your house. You were going to attempt to tell the senator your idea again. You already know he’s going to shoot it down again, but it’s worth another try. First, you need coffee. You went to a nearby coffee shop before going into work. Once again, you were looking down at your phone and accidentally bumped into someone. You didn’t drop anything this time at least.

“I am so sorry!” You apologized. “I wasn’t paying attention to where I was walking.” You say.

“I’m beginning to think you’re bumping into me on purpose, doll.” Bucky says jokingly.

You smiled when you heard his voice. You looked up at him to see him smiling at you.

“I can say the same thing about you, Sergeant Barnes.” You joked.

Bucky chuckles at your joke and opened the door to the coffee shop for you.

“What a gentleman.” You smiled at him.

“I always am.” He says sweetly.

Bucky followed in behind you.

“What are you getting?” Bucky asks. “My treat.” He says, taking his wallet out of his pocket.

“You don’t have to pay for my coffee.” You say.

“I want to. Also, I insist.” He says.

“Well, if you insist.” You giggled.

You ordered your coffee and so did Bucky.

“I have a feeling we’re going to see more of each other.” You say as you and Bucky walked out of the coffee shop.

“I would absolutely love that.” He smiles.

“As much as I want to stay here and talk to you, I have to go to work to convince the senator my idea is the best way to help the people who were in the blip.” You say.

“Don’t let me keep you from doing that then. Good luck. I hope it goes the way you want it to.” He says.

“I hope so too.” You say.

You gave Bucky a smile before walking away. Bucky watched you walk away with a smile on his face. Then he went on about his day and met up with Sam.

“I just think it’s best to help the people who were in the blip.” You say.

“You don’t know what’s best for them.” The senator says.

“I can’t imagine what they went through during those 5 years, but this could be helpful to them.” You say.

“This discussion is over. Let’s move on.” He says.

You opened your mouth to argue back, but an alarm went off and a red light turned on. Everyone in the room, looked around with confused looks on their faces. Everyone was ushered out of the room and the building. Everyone was told to go outside of the building.

You then noticed someone wearing a mask with a red hand print on it. You already knew that meant it wasn’t good. So you tried to sneak away. You thought you were in the clear till someone grabbed your arm, making you stop in your tracks. You turned your head to see the person wearing the mask with the hand print on it.

“You’re not going anywhere.” Karli says.

You whimpered when her grip on your arm tightened. Karli pulled you towards a police vehicle, almost making you trip over your own feet. She shoved you in the vehicle and stared you down for a second before closing the doors and putting a lock on it. You shifted yourself in the seat and leaned your head back against the side of the vehicle.

“Was this part of your plan?” The senator asks you. “To get us held hostage?” He says.

“No.” You answered honestly, lifting your head to look at him. “I don’t even know what’s going on.” You say.

“Yea, right.” He said.

You scoffed at him and looked out the window of the vehicle. After a little bit, there was a noise that sounded like an explosion. Your eyes went wide when you seen a fire outside of the vehicle.

“Fire.” You whispered. “Fire!” You finally say louder.

The senator and everyone else in the vehicle looked out the window to see the fire. Everyone, including you, began freaking out. You started pushing and pounding on the door to get it to open, but it was no use due to the lock that was put on it to trap you, the senator, and a few other people inside of the vehicle.

That’s when you seen a familiar face running towards the vehicle. It didn’t take you long to realize it was Bucky. You frantically tapped on the window to get his attention. Bucky heard the frantic tapping and seen you.

“I’m going to get you guys out. Just hold on, ok?” Bucky says loudly so you could hear him.

You nodded your head. Bucky’s vibranium hand gripped the handle and he pulled on it, using all of his strength. He looked at the door, seeing the lock. His vibranium fist punched the lock to break it. Then he tried opening the door again. After having to use force to get it open, it opened up. Everyone got out of the vehicle quickly.

“Thank you, sir!” The senator says, shaking Bucky’s hand.

Bucky nodded and turned his attention to you. He helped you out of the vehicle. You immediately wrapped your arms around him and leaned your head against his chest. He wrapped his arms around you too, holding you close to you.

“You’re ok.” He coos softly. “You’re safe and sound now.” He whispers. “Let’s get you somewhere safe.” He says.

You nodded against his chest. Bucky picked you up bridal style and carried you somewhere safe. He gently sat you down on a bench and sat down next to you.

“Are you hurt?” Bucky asks, checking you for injuries.

“No. I’m just shaken up is all.” You say.

“You’ll be fine. Just sit here and take a moment to yourself.” He says softly.

“I know you’re working, but can you stay with me?” You asked. “I don’t want to be alone.” You say.

“Of course, doll.” He smiles.

You and Bucky maneuvered yourselves so you two were facing each other. While you two were sitting there, the senator approached you.

“Y/L/N, I owe you an apology.” The senator said.

You looked at him, waiting for his apology. Bucky looked at him too.

“I shouldn’t have accused you of being part of this.” He starts.

“You accused her of this?” Bucky asks him. “She had nothing to do with this. You just wanted to play the blame game.” He said.

“Yes I did and I’m sorry for that.” He apologizes. “If it’s ok with you, you can present your idea again if you want.” He says.

“I would like that.” You say, giving him a smile.

The senator held his hand out for you to shake, which you did.

“Also, if you want to take some time off, you can. I wouldn’t blame you if you did.” He said.

“I’ll keep that in mind.” You replied.

He nodded and walked away.

After thinking about it, you decided to take some time off. After getting your idea to help people who were in the blip up and running, you decided to take a vacation. Then there was a knock at the door. You got up from your spot on the couch to answer the door. You smiled when you opened the door. You stepped aside to let him come inside.

“Hi Bucky!” You smile widely and hugged him. “What brings you by?” You asked.

“I wanted to see how you were doing, especially after that incident with Karli.” Bucky says.

You smiled, loving that he’s so caring.

“I’m doing better than I was that day.” You tell him.

“That’s good.” He replies. “You look better too.” He says.

You couldn’t help but smile at his sweet words.

“If it’s ok with you, I’d like to accept your offer on that drink if it’s still open.” You say.

“That offer will always be open for you, doll.” He smiles.

“Good.” You grabbed your purse and phone. “I neat a drink or two after what I’ve been through.” You say.

“I’m with you on that, doll face.” He chuckles, following you out the door.

You looked at Bucky with a smile on your face.

“What’s with the smile, doll?” Bucky asks curiously.

“We’re going to be great friends.” You say.

“I hope so.” He smiles and wraps his arm around your shoulders. “I did I save you and check up on you.” He says.

“My knight and shining armor.” You grinned up at him, playfully batting your eyelashes.

“You know it, babydoll.” He said before kissing the top of your head.

RAMBLING THOUGHTS AFTER FINISHING PART TWO. GONNA ADDRESS MY P1 THOUGHTS FIRST. SPOILER WARNING.

1 & 2: I think Debling could’ve worked in the second half, and I’m kinda sad Cressida didn’t get a happy ending. The Creloise fell of a CLIFF after ep 5 but I think it could still be saved

5: no cishet man has ever loved his wife more than Anthony Bridgerton I’m gonna be ill

6 & 12: kanthony’s absence was felt BAD in the finale, I think their reactions to LW were sorely needed. Also Jonny and Simone have both said they’ll be at every sibling’s wedding and stick around for years but they missed Francesca’s??? Also felt their absence too much then. They’re both booked and busy I think we’ll continue to only get a couple episodes a season from them

8: Francesca did get to thrive happy in pt 2 my baby I love her

9: I think they managed to disconnect the mondrich plot even further like 😭 once again, I don’t mind them their plot just feels very empty

10: Pen and Delacroix CONTINUE to be my fave duo I love them so freaking much and they can never get rid of it

13: Portia’s growth this season continued to be 10/10 I loved her and Penelope’s relationship it really showed what it’s like to be closely related to people you oppose and the process of needing to forgive and understand them for your own peace of mind

14: that was not how I was expecting Colin to find out about Whistledown

15: Marcus felt a little rushed in part two but I think I need to watch the whole season together to fully decide

17: this was indeed the longest 27 days of my life I got Covid day after it dropped lmfao

MY ~NEW~ THOUGHTS:

We finally got character development from Cressida and if they write her out I’ll be inconsolable (as will Jessica Madsen)

I hope they paid Golda Rosheuvel good for her feet exposure. Worth more than titties in this economy

I feel the need to tell everyone that £5000 in 1815 is in the realm of £500,000 today and we cannot brush over the fact Penelope has made herself the equivalent of a literal millionaire

Anthony has two moods ‘I’m obsessed with my wife’ ‘I want to win this game’ like it is comical how drastically different his facial expression is in the game of charades compared to pretty much every other scene

Anthony saying the marriage is perfect and not hard work and Kate being like BOY I will humble you,,,, doing the lord’s work I love her so much

At some points I felt like Francesca was fighting Anthony for ‘Violet’s least favourite child’ award lmao

John saying he’s off to look at the wainscotting was unfairly funny

Cressida in the red dress is even better than I imagined fuck even if she’s not gay then I am

Peneloise back together the universe is healing I love my babies all we need now is creloise lovers and peneloise friendship simultaneously I don’t like it being one or the other sue me

However much Brimsley is getting paid isn’t enough,,,, Hugh Sachs the man that you are

I adored Penelope’s wedding dress so much and as bitter as I am still about no kanthony wedding in s2, it felt kind of right somehow for Polin to be the first wedding we properly see in this show

Most of the costumes and makeup feel like they got worse,,,,, big ‘I hired a 14 year old’ energy. I don’t need historical accuracy but I would like a modicum of care and the costume/hair/makeup dept looking at a single historical reference from before 1850,,,, please

We all got the bi Benedict we’ve been asking for and I appreciate it, and recognise that he needed Tilley to explore that, but I still would’ve preferred if they first main queer experience was not a threesome

If they go straight into benophie in s4 (which idk, I’m so torn bc I feel like F, E and B all could work well next season) then I also feel like bi Benedict was just them throwing a bone for 5 mins but meant nothing

The CONTENTIOUS Michaela Stirling,,,,, I was undecided until I saw it but that was the definition of gay panic from Francesca and it worked so well I am so excited.

As your resident peerage expert, it is much easier for women to inherit titles in Scotland than England so I wonder (not that anyone on this show knows anything) if that was a reason they chose Francesca to be sapphic [general peerage info and female inheritance info if you care]

On the above, if they can canonically end racism with one marriage then they can end homophobia with one marriage as well

We all know Eloise was the easy and obvious choice to be the queer love story but part of me does kind of like them not taking the easy route, and them going something more unexpected, but that doesn’t mean I don’t want Creloise/Sapphic El like they had eight children let’s be honest

Finch’s sneeze and Phillips’s “now Varely! The bugs!” were unfairly funny

Everything Lady Danbury said to Penelope about suspecting her and what not felt very in character and you can fight with the wall idc

Did they tell us the name of Polin’s baby boy???

Hyacinth saying she thinks of Gregory as the family pet,,,,, girl you an icon walking amongst mere mortals

Predictions I got right:

Anthony didn’t kill Colin, but “are you gonna duel your own brother” lmao I was on the right track

I knew Polin would win the Featherington baby race and I love that for them (but why were Prudence and Phillipa pregnant most of the season, barely showing, Kate was showing almost immediately, and then in the epilogue the sisters all had baby’s similar-ish ages???? Give the writers room a calendar please)

I SAID FROM DAY DOT THAT THE FURNITURE THEY BROKE FROM SEX WAS A CHAISE I CANT FIND THE POST BUT I KNEW IT I FUCKING KNEW IT WHERE DO I COLLECT MY PRIZE SOME OF YOUR GUESSES WERE TRULY FUCKING COOKED

This one took me a long time to make but I had so much fun. It was a request and I immediately knew what I wanted it to look like, adding the red flare, but then I actually had to make it, which is when I get in trouble, because there are only so many hours in the day and I'm never happy. But I'm really happy with this one.

The day I was so smart. I was very proud of myself for figuring this out. It seems silly now, but it was driving me crazy and I felt really good when I finally cracked it. This show also occupied so much of my brain.

Favourite: Love in the Big City by Sang Young Park | PART THREE

This show gave me so much pain, but it got me doing something different. I really loved making these. And this one was the best of one. I am so rusty using photoshop that it was a challenge at first, and it took ages but it was also really fun. I love these edits a lot.

I had been paying attention to the places Jin was visiting in the first episode to spot them when they appeared again, so i was very happy when I was finally able to collect them all.

Well that's it for yearly recaps I guess. I feel like I'm getting better at this giffing thing and also writing some thoughts down, even if I still feel intimidated by some people. "It's not common, even when we go to parties you use jeans, so, I have a point"

"The real point here is that we are in the middle of the summer and if I put a raw egg on the floor it will cook"

"But what about the jet? It's going to be cold in there"

"I have my enchanté sweater" Lando made a loud gasp "It has cute peaches and it's purple"

"I sent you a full box of my merch last month, mean"

"Cry about it, Daniel thinks that I have a pretty face so everybody is going to see me in the new enchanté collection"

"Really?"

"Yeah, I asked him months ago, even I helped with the design of one of the pieces"

"Well, congratulations. You should look who's coming" I turn my head and a very smiley Daniel Ricciardo was walking to our direction

"You knew?"

"I invited him to flight with us, I know how important you were for him these moths away from racing so I..." I interrupted him with a hug and a kiss in the cheek

"You're the best, Norris" Lando didn't expect that reaction, now he can feel his cheeks burning

I got up and run to Daniel. After Silverstone, I decided to wait for Danny's test with Pirelli. After he finished a call from Helmut Marko was all we need to know that he got the seat for the rest of the season. Even if I have a good relationship with the australian, I organized a few days off with Lando, Max, Nyck, some frineds and myself to let Nyck know that we're his friends and friends support each other.

Well, I sign my contract with McLaren, I was feeling bad about the decision, just for Danny and I spent the night with him and his girlfriend just talking and at some point we got more serious and I just told him and without knowing about Red Bull: What is a home if not the first place you learn yo run from?"

I smiled to the camera "Then he told me about the third driver offer and I felt different, by the time he leave in 2018 I guess that he felt that he was destroying everything and he just needed to slip quietly to the back door without causing to much noise and then not stop running. And maybe that was he needed more than what he really wanted, let go the feeling of wanted to go back and remember what you once had and what you once where "

"But then I told him that it's funny that the feeling of leave home and being far away make us wander our choices but for Danny is something else. He's back home and ready to no longer remember which tale of his past is true and which is an invention. Outside he's the same on the inside he's the same kid that leave Australia looking for a dream"

"I guess he's your favourite person between the drivers" asked the producer

"No, Daniel is my brother and I know he feels the same about me"

you never thought you’d be here right now. regretting your decision of transferring from YOUR dream school for the boy you thought would be worth it. I mean you would’ve said he was worth it a couple months ago. maybe your eyes are just opening or maybe you’re overthinking it.

everyone welcomed you with welcoming arms BUT HIM. I mean your own boyfriends face was betraying the words he said.

“Im so glad you’re here” as his smile dropped and he tried to fake up a new one

god you werent that stupid and naive, you could see right through it. his eyes didn’t have the sparkle he use to have even AFTER seeing you everyday. his smile didn’t even show the canines you adored to death. even the tone in his voice dripped with disappointment. It felt like it was storming when you seen him or at least his mood gave off that vibe.

obviously the first thoughts racing through your head were the worst I mean how could you not. college and the parties were a recipe for a bad disaster and mingyu of the all people would damn sure be getting attention.

you DIDNT want to believe it that your boyfriend of a year and just a few weeks wouldve given in to it but you couldn’t not. he never gave you a reason to question his loyalty but that was over the phone, through texts and through social media updates you seen but god it’s easy for people to fake it these days.

so now you’re here sitting with your best friend trying to piece this new act from mingyu.

“okay so let’s get this straight…you transferred, you got here, you surprised mingyu after not seeing him in person for 4 months and his smile dropped”

“yes kae that’s exactly what happened am I crazy or is that weird??” you fiddled with your fingers

kaes mouth dropped and she raised her eyebrow at you “there’s no way in hell you think im gonna sit here and deny that, that’s in fact crazy”

“i know-“

“I mean who does he think he is?? We have to tell cheol about this he would know what’s up with mingyu” picking up her phone going straight to her and her boyfriends messages

you stopped her “no do not go running to cheol about this I don’t want to come to any conclusions without seeing more signs”

“y/n what more do you need? cheol sees me everyday and still gives me the same look he has since he’s confessed even before we got together he’s always had it”

“well isn’t that just great for you” you huffed out hugging your body with your arms as you leaned back in your chair

“Im sorry, you know the eyes hold a lot of emotions and if you can’t look at mingyu in the eyes and feel it then maybe it’s-“ she looks up from her hands looking at you in the eyes “maybe it’s not there anymore y/n”

“yeah I know that’s exactly what I was scared of” you looked away from her and looked out the window of the cafe shop

“hey look” you look back at her and she continues slowly “let’s not instantly…even though it’s a possibility… think that way, how about we really find out”

“how would we do that” she lifts her eyebrow at you “wait..are you suggesting we SPY ON HIM??”

“I mean if we have to we can but we can start small like maybe you should go through his phone” she shrugs

you looked back down at your hands again. you’ve never even gone through his phone. I mean sure that would be the perfect place to start but there’s no way mingyu would be dumb enough to keep something incriminating there…right? you honestly didn’t even know if you could do it I mean what if there’s nothing and you feel guilty he’d probably feel some type of way about the breach of privacy and the lack of trust but….if there is something there then you know that look in mingyus eyes when he first asked you out would never be there again.

you looked back at her “alright let’s do this”

“thank god because this shit has me mad for you”

you guys talked a little bit more but as the sun set you guys decided it was best to wrap up and part your ways.

as you guys walked out and started to walk away from each other you hear her call your name “y/n”

you turn around looking back at her “yeah kae?”

she smiles “dont worry i have your back” and turns back to walk away

as you walked the way to mingyus dorm it was like the whole atmosphere changed. your headphones were tucked in your ears and it was even like your randomized liked songs even knew your fate. the song heather played throughout your ears. was spotify listening to your whole conversation. the air felt cold and smelled of faint rain. there was nobody around. the street lights were dim and not a single animal could be heard. no squirrels running up trees and no birds chirping.

you were scared not even just scared absolutely petrified. could mingyu do that to you…would mingyu do that to you? since you came a week ago he didn’t even sound the same, talk the same and when he touched you he felt like a stranger. a distant stranger. somebody you loved so much you could scream it out to the whole world yet when you wrapped your arms around him it felt like opposite magnets. and yeah that’s the kicker he didn’t run to you he didn’t even pull you in for a hug… you had to reach out for his cold touch.

you put a pep in your step. you didn’t even text him warning him about your appearance. he gave you a key when you surprised him telling you to just stop by because he’s too busy for a formal meeting right now. he barley looked you in the eyes just plopped a key in your palm and folded your hand over with his gripping it giving a fake smile at most because you seen the way he dropped it when he turned to walk away.

the song shifted to “im not the only one” and you felt a jab in your chest. you would’ve thought you were having a panic attack with the way your body reacted to the song. your body felt hot and you could’ve sworn you felt that sting in your eye as if your body was fighting tears. your heart knew but your mind had hope that mingyu wouldn’t have traded you for a fling.

you inched closer to his dorm hall walking up the pavement pressing your key card against the censor and reaching for the lobby door. you made your way to his hall patting around your eyes making sure you weren’t just numb to the feeling of crying and didn’t miss the drops. you pulled your phone out making sure your face looked fine. you inched closer to his dorm and the door opened and mingyus broad body stepped out facing the opposite way of you holding the door open as a girl stepped out smiling up at him.

you stopped in your tracks. it was like your heart paused for a second and then it rushed to start up again. your hands shaking and your breathing increasing.

“so I’ll see you tomorrow night right?” his voice rang out

she reached for his hand that wasn’t on the door squeezing it “yeah of course see you then gyu” she said walking away

she passed you. and by the time mingyu turned around going to say one last thing to her his eyes landed on you.

those eyes. those fucking eyes. the most emotion you had seen in days. being that of guilt? of anger? of sadness? you couldn’t even tell anymore.

gyu? it felt like a punch to the gut.. the nickname his friends and you called him now spoken by a girl who got the look you craved.

that wasn’t mingyu, that wasn’t your mingyu, that wasn’t your high school sweetheart, that wasn’t the boy who asked your dad before taking you to prom, that wasn’t the boy who asked you to his girlfriend during a big fourth of july fireworks show where you guys were away from everyone and when the first boom rang out and the sky lit up and you turned around to look at him with a big smile plastered on your face did you see him looking at you with a promise ring in his hand…yeah that wasn’t your mingyu standing there like a deer caught in his headlights.

you dropped your bag more so your body went limp and it was like your shoulder couldn’t even hold the weight of a few books anymore. your hands trembled grasping your face covering your mouth as the tears welled up at your waterline.

time felt like it paused the moment he turned around but it was just a couple seconds. the sound of your bag hitting the floor brought you out of it.

“y/n-“ he moved into the hallway his dorm door shutting behind him he slowly inched forward his hand reaching out

you stepped back as you repeated “oh my god..oh my god…oh my god” the words got more incoherent. your throat stung. It felt like you could barley speak and if you did you were gonna burst at the brim. your vision was fogged.

“y/n it’s not what it looks like” he inched closer “y/n it’s not”

“stop” you croaked out pushing your hand out you turned your head away not looking at him “don’t come closer to me”

he stopped “y/n seriously look at me love”

“DONT call me that. you can’t call me that anymore. you haven’t called me that in weeks DONT think now is the time for it. that meaningless name can’t save you” you spat out

gosh as heartbroken as you were in that moment you weren’t fucking pathetic. you had to stand up for yourself. your body felt weak and your eyes and throat stung but he didn’t deserve to see you like this.

“y/n stop it wasn’t like that, she wasn’t here for whatever you’re thinking” he stepped forward grasping for your hand

you pushed his hand away stepping back grabbing your bag off the ground. it felt like your fingers were gonna snap from the pressure of your bag. he really made you that weak. or maybe you felt so sick from everything that’s going on. your body couldn’t even stand it.

“no gyu-“ saying the nickname you always called him didnt even feel like it was yours to call “no mingyu you don’t get to tell me to stop and you don’t get to try and correct me for what I just saw”

“whyre you assuming that i would even do that” he raised his voice his head leaning closer to yours “why would I do that to you???!!”

you turned your head away “oh please cut the fucking act you’ve been acting different since I got here, you aren’t a fucking saint mingyu” you pushed him away

he scoffed “what are you even referring to, I’ve been the same since we’ve been together nothings changed and I didn’t do shit to you” and in the matter of seconds his tone changed “you have to listen to me love” he reached out for your face

you smacked his hand away “I don’t have to do shi-“

the sound of footsteps walking up echoed throughout the halls. you turned back seeing two people walking down the hall your way.

you turned back looking at him swinging your bag back over your shoulder “we’re done here I don’t even know you anymore mingyu”

you stepped back walking away avoiding eye contact with the people walking in. you didn’t even turn back to look at him. and he didn’t go for you. you had no words for what you witnessed. you held in the tears as your eyes stung and your throat ached even worse.

you reached the lobby doors the doors clicking as you pressed against them and the tears flowed. you’d never felt the pain you had felt right now. your whole body was shaking as you walked letting the door shut and your relationship with mingyu ending.

the sky lit up with thunder at the click of the door and the droplets started hitting the concrete. and you could’ve cared less. the sound of the rain and the thunder canceled out your sobs. your hands clawed at your face as the tears kept flowing. you just stood there with the rain engulfing you and your tears mixing with it. you couldn’t even physically step forward. you couldn’t even make out a normal breath.

you wobbled to the closest bench by the doors and you just sat there the tears couldn’t even make it out of your eyes. was it physically possible to feel like crying and not be able to? you just felt like you were in shock and all you could vision was his face when he turned around. the pain kept hitting you as you replayed the image over and over.

“y/n?”

you heard that deep calming voice and you already knew. you looked up seeing the exact face you thought belonged to that voice. the black hair, the glasses, the soft smile.

he rushed over his umbrella covering over you “what’re you doing out here like this?? you’re gonna get sick come on come inside”

“wonwoo i cant- i have to go”

“why not? you dont have an umbrella and you’ll be walking you shouldn’t go now” he reached for your hand “just come with me”

your body betrayed you and let him grab your hand helping you up, you should go you shouldn’t go inside with him. you can’t go back in there. your mind was spinning.

“y/n? come on” he had walked you over as he keyed in and held the door open

you walked in with him and he shook out his umbrella and held your stuff in one hand

“wonwoo i cant go with you i have to leave”

“it’s storming I can’t let you go out there like this” he looked at your state of soaking wet clothes

“it’s mingyu i cant go back there” you said quietly

you could see the realization in his face that he found out that you were out there like that because of him “don’t worry me and him aren’t even dorm mates anymore” he smiled softly

“i still shouldn’t wonwoo” you reached for your bag

he backed away “no I’ll let you leave once the weather clears i promise”

how could you not trust the warmth in that voice when everything else felt so cold. the weather was cold, mingyus touch on your hands just minutes prior was cold, his voice was cold even to your face after that. but even with that warmth you couldn’t trust him after what mingyu just did. he probably knew, they probably all knew.

he could see the look in your face go from convinced to right back how it was

he reached for your hand clenching it “you can trust me, im roomed with dk but he’s busy off with soonyoung just come till the weather clears and we will get you home”

your body let him pull you to his dorm where he pulled you in setting everything down and offering you clothes to get out of the drenched ones. there you were sat on his couch as you waited for him to change. your head was everywhere. you just caught mingyu with another girl, you tried to be strong and storm out and your feelings got the best of you now you’re here being helped by his best friend. god you were so pathetic.

“hey im back” he smiled at you as he took the space right beside you

you looked down at the floor and hummed in response

“tell me what happened” his voice was stern and you looked up at him

“what do you mean nothing happened” you looked back in forth between his eyes

“we both know that’s not true, tell me what happened seriously” he scooted closer “look i know something happened it’s written all over your face and you were sitting out there in the rain with no care…nobody does that y/n”

“i-“

“you can trust me”

“your his best friend though” you looked away

“ive known you since high school come on im not just going to instantly take his side y/n, just tell me”

Fangs of Fortune Frustration

So, in Ep 3, Li Lun talks to himself (but addresses Zhao Yuanzhou), asking which of his new friends he should kill first - at about the 30 minute mark. (29:51 on iqiyi specifically) The subtitles here state "Which one of them should I kill first? As usual, I will start with the Baize Goddess" Stating that *he* was the one who killed the last Baize Goddess, unless something got seriously flubbed in the subtitles. (Given the subtitles consistently misgender Bai Jiu's mom and there a few other errors noticeable even to me, I am not excluding that possibility.) And then, In the flashback of Zhao Wan'er's death that Li Lun hands Wen Xiao in Ep 16, we see Li Lun drop a leaf after being sealed

Zhao Yuanzhou pick up the leaf Li Lun left after we had the whole thing about him using his leaves for possession, right before the blood moon rises

And then, after he went on his murder rampage supposedly being controlled by Malicious Energy Energy, we see him have this mark behind his ear, which is usually the mark of a possession by Li Lun, and regain consciousness after it fades.

So this strongly implies that Li Lun was at the very least hitching a ride for Zhao Yuanzhou's whole murder rampage. And if we compare this incident with the time Zhao Yuanzhou is controlled by malicious energy in the present, where the only one he attacks with intense force and fatally is the enemy of him and his friends, while even Zhuo Yichen at best gets played with, not injured, (even though Zhao Yuanzhou is clearly terrified of doing more damage on some level? That makes it look like Li Lun was at least in part, if now wholly, responsible for Zhao Yuanzhou killing Zhao Wan'er and several members Demon Hunting Bureau. Wen Xiao, after this, still claims he was controlled by Malicious energy and is not suspicious of Li Lun having been able to share things he, if he wasn't possessing Zhao Yuanzhou, shouldn't have been there for (like the stuff in the demon hunting bureau) – but she is prone to visions, so I thought she was going to misattribute it to that until she realizes that wait, Li Lun was actually along for the ride, and may be more responsible for those deaths than Zhao Yuanzhou. A foreshadowed reveal that is then reinforced by flashbacks to where the hints were already dropped ahead of time, ad the show commonly does. But having finished the show, as far as the characters and plot are concerned, this apparently never happened? If this was from an earlier plotline and before they decided to change Li Lun's arc to the more complex one we ultimately saw, why didn't they at least edit out this shot with the explicit Leaf of Possession? Everything else with Zhao Yuanzhou picking up the leaf could just have been sentimentality after all!

*banging pots and pans together* I FINISHED ANOTHER SEASON OF THE X-FILES!!! GATHER ‘ROUND FOR MY HOT TAKES!!!

Spoilers, as usual. It’s all below the cut.

The End

I’m not even sure what to think. This finale felt like a regular ass X-File until the last minute on screen. No one was dying of an incurable disease or being drugged within an inch of their life. No one even faked their death! Though we did have another delightful moment of Mulder physically attacking his colleagues in the halls of the Hoover Building, plus another reassignment! Classic finale stuff.

I’m honestly still processing the image of Mulder’s office gone up in smoke. That’s one of the few spoilers I’ve managed to avoid. I can never keep track of whose side Mr. Morley is on, but damn. Damn.

Backtracking tho: MSR goes crazy this ep, but on the down low. He is thinking about ONE of the ladies. ONE of the ladies is thinking about him. Scully doesn’t care what anyone thinks except Diana — not even what Mulder thinks. What a fucking interesting distinction, right? Alexa! Alexa, play ‘Girl Crush’ by Little Big Town!

Not to mention the way she goes back to his place after everything that happens — the fanfic of it all, going home with him to make sure he takes a nap on his couch and doesn’t jump the tracks. She’s confused and tired and probably angry, and she loves him so much despite it all. Agh. AGH.

Anyway if anything bad happens to the kid I quit the show. Earlier in the series, I was tired of bad things happening to women (still am) but now I am tired of bad things happening to kids. Scully is, too, damn it.

The verdict: This is good. This is solid. It’s not the same levels of drama we are used to from a finale, but it’s enough of a paradigm shift to make you wonder what’s next. And maybe it would feel old-hat (the X-Files are shut down again, what else is new?) if we didn’t see Mulder’s life’s work go up in literal flames.

Season 5

This season, y’all. This season! It has EVERYTHING. It’s got needle drops and fun dances and unreliable narrators and fun and humor, but it also has FUCKING EMILY!!! Redux and Emily are within TEN EPISODES of each other. Are you kidding me? It has Catholicism! It has Scully to the rescue!

Pros: Lots of Scully!

Cons: Lots of Scully being sad.

Yeah, season 5 may be a new favorite. It has its clunkers for sure, but it also has some all-time best episodes. It’s literally watering the seeds of doubt, showing us that absolutely nothing and no one is trustworthy — I’m so mad that we never talk about “trust no one” anymore — that the truth may well be out there, but that we wouldn’t fucking know it if we found it, right now. Mulder is more skeptical than Scully ALL FUCKING SEASON! She may not be ready to write it in a field report, but you cannot seriously tell me she doesn’t believe something. She believes enough to know that something is wrong with Chinga. She believes enough to shoot the shadow in Mulder’s hospital room. She believes enough to set the nephilim free. To protect Gibson. Meanwhile, Mulder is kind of done taking people at their word. He needs evidence. He needs to see to believe. These two have changed each other so much in 5 years!

I just love it. I just do.

It’s also worth noting that this ranking might change over time. I tried to account for both quality of the ep and my own personal feelings about it — which aren’t always the same thing. For example, I’ll rewatch Unusual Suspects long before either of the Reduxes.

This is a thought I had before that I'm rethinking a bit since they decided to drop the trailer yesterday (bless! Oops buried this in my drafts and never got around to finishing til now)

Warning: Long post! (I'm sorry or you're welcome)

I've been trying to stay away from spoilers, so I could be totally off base here, but

Thinking about how Colin will react to Whistledown

I've already talked about Colin having to be needed, but surely there will be layers...

Colin has that line in ep. 1, where he talks about ruining LW and how she ruined his family, yeah after she rips him a new one in the paper - it's a clear deflection. This was never going to be about Marina, or his family. This is about Penelope seeing through the very real facade of Colin, and the fact that he'll believe she thinks those things of him. Because he's insecure if he'll be good enough for her. He needs to be needed, but also I assume Colin will be hurt at the deceit and mindblown at what it means when he puts the pieces together. Replaying certain moments/events, as well as oh, that's why that was so weird. moments that make him feel pain about the sincerity of their romantic relationship right ahead of their nuptials. Because up until the carriage, Colin thought Penelope couldn't see through him. That him trying to be someone else was working. That he was concealing his obvious feelings well. (And he was right; when Penelope "is this a ploy for attention" Whistledown couldn't see him foaming at the mouth and about to pass out on dance floors to know that something had changed.) The carriage was his moment of admission to everything he's been hiding from himself. And she's Whistledown! She's the one who first pointed out those things about him. She even said "does Mr. Bridgerton even know, himself?". He is going to be hurt for what he perceives is her looking down on him. He is going to feel betrayed, because it will seem like a joke he wasn't in on about himself. He's probably going to cry from that, because it will all feel unreal (maybe even like their relationship is fake and she was playing him; he's still insecure about how he's perceived and fearful of getting hurt, especially with Penelope). And the carriage will probably feel meaningless to what he believes her to view it as. like: "what do you mean you saw me pretending all this time for weeks?" Colin was on a different timeline in his feelings and when they sprung into action, they really sprung to all feel like it happened all at once for him. For Colin, it was like they spent all this time together now, he saw her for who she really is - to be less concerned for how she appears to him - and it was like something had really changed between them. And then, to know that Penelope's got an inside edition to how exactly he is maybe feeling, before he fully knows himself.. It's like he gave a full speech on that part of himself (how he portrays himself), and she already had an idea!

It's a complicated scenario, because on one hand there's this conflict between them of the secrecy and certain level of deception (Penelope having this information he's unaware to when they're supposed to be getting married), but on the other side of it Penelope sees him and knows him better than he knows himself (and I don't even think she's aware of it) - it's really the soulmatism aspect of them.

But the carriage won't be ruined. Because Colin and Pen at the core are meant to fall for each other due to seeing the sum of all their parts. Colin now sees Pen, which as I was saying before was not possible without Penelope dropping her crush veil and acting unnaturally around him. Like, right now, he's sure he loves her, because the pieces clicked in the past few weeks. Pieces clicked that he's not even fully aware how or why they come together, and there's a subconscious feeling to the things that can't be explained. I mean, when he goes to see Penelope outside her house and she's like "Whistledown did not want to seem suspicious;" (girl, wtf ), that's a piece to Penelope that he doesn't have the answers to, but he senses. It's all going to make sense once he has time to process and be privy to the hidden pieces of why they are compatible. But, sometimes things just fall perfectly into place without the why.

And he still doesn't know about her feelings prior to the carriage. Like, he thinks, "we both got closer over the past few weeks and we fell for each other through that" (he knows Penelope has always been a constant and that his feelings go back far deeper although he can't pinpoint an exact moment, but up until she reveals it, he's not gonna think she feels that (he probably thought they both fell through the kiss); like they were just good friends and somehow those moments in the past weeks have awakened something in them that neither has realized until this moment).

But that obviously won't last for long. Same as a fight (most likely) won't extend into this long drawn out thing of actual opposition.

And back to the Marina vs Pen debate, the answer to the difference is as simple as this: he didn't love her; he loves Pen! There's nothing more complicated about it; it wasn't real and that goes beyond just the willing deceit of Marina. I could talk about the rose- colored glasses romance/love idealization trope and how that's important to the development (*cough how the change to the show makes sense*), but the crowd isn't ready for that. [I love Marina, therefore her slander will not be allowed here]. But I'll just say the illusion of someone vs knowing someone is going to be the biggest difference [and the greatest catalyst (more on that later)] for how this plays out. Despite not knowing the Whistledown secret, Colin knows Penelope.

It's funny how similar they really are. They're both over-romanticizers. They're idealistic and they both idealized someone and had the pedestal knocked down. We already saw Pen's moment for this, the vital poor declaration moment at the ball. Now, I'm thinking Colin is going to have to battle this idea. He loves her, we know this! We also know that Colin can be impulsive for all of it's good and bad qualities. He is going to have to fight this idea where he acts towards his deepest insecurities. He's sitting outside the bedroom, so it looks promising (lol)! He's angry, but he's ruminating and he's internalizing all of that confusion and fear (I know they'll fight ofc, but for the little moments like that..). He thinks love is a thunderbolt in the sky, not that he fell for her like that, but that love is grand, fairytale-ish; he is a true romantic. His proposal shows as much for his his gestures of grandiosity. He's over the moon about the engagement and he's in a happy bubble after the swift timeline of the realization of their feelings. He'll have to break this idea. Because Colin didn't know love before Penelope. In the conflict of the Whistledown reveal, he'll see that love isn't always this gradiose thing. But that it's moments, being fully understanding of one another, wanting the person, seeing them, and (very important for his development) having them see you. Because that's what REAL love is. He'll actually see the real her and the full picture. Thus, we can actually get the real love confession where he says it. His perfect love idea will be shattered, but the end point will be sweet and more worthwhile than actually not knowing someone. They'll have a deep, dork bond, full love connection for life!
