Louis tilted his head slightly as he heard the man's response, pulling him out of his storytelling. "Is everything alright there Daniel?" he asked, wondering if perhaps something had happened to his laptop or microphone. Or perhaps he was talking more of what Louis had told him. Maybe he didn't believe what he was telling him. Either way, the vampire was quiet for a moment. "Would you rather we stopped now?"

Daniel was fed up with Louis’ story. He couldn’t trust the vampire. Not then in San Francisco. And definitely not now in Dubai. Years had passed them by. Perhaps Louis hadn’t done his maturing, being an immortal and everything. But Daniel had lived his life and he wasn’t ignorant of bs like he used to. “I think you’re full of shit right now Louis. That’s not what happened and you know that. Look, you might’ve convinced yourself of it. But I’m not a boy anymore. And your charm doesn’t work on me anymore. And no, I’m not fucking tired.”

It's hilarious to me how much the second half of the show seemed to want Lockwood specifically to suffer. Three instances come to mind in particular: at Winkman's, at the auction, and the fight with Joplin.

Winkman's in the book: Lucy and Lockwood snoop around, get caught, get thrown out

Show: Lockwood gets ELECTRIC CHAIR TORTURED

The auction in the book: Lucy and Lockwood’s plan works fairly well. They still jump into the Thames, but all in all, it goes according to plan

Show: a DEPRAC agent with a family gets MURDERED and Lockwood has a PANIC ATTACK because he feels at fault

Fight with Joplin in the book: Lockwood has a few scrapes from the fight with the thugs, comes and saves Lucy, George, and Kipps. The gun doesn't go off.

Show: SHOOT HIM AND HOIST HIS COLLAPSED BODY UP THE CATAFALQUE

He recalled how his past constantly, furtively watched you. How it wasn’t Sebek nor Grim that he found threatening, but Silver. His own son.

How you leaned on him and Silver did the same. How you checked up on him and made sure he was okay.

How he, in return, cared for you just as much.

Lilia remembered the burning pit in his stomach.

“Jealous of my own son, oh precious, what you do to me.”

He recalled how he kicked Silver to distract the enemies and the slight satisfaction he felt before you screamed for his son.

The way you checked and made sure Silver was okay and the look of disappointment you sent him after, had his past self flinching.

He recalled how he wanted to take you and claim you. Over and over, until you knew nothing else but him. Wanted nothing else but him. Begged for him and he would have gladly provided.

The word is whispered in the recess of his mind. Yes.

As you stirred awake, blinking up at him. Bringing a hand up to cup his cheek, you called his name with your voice filled with sleep and love.

That was all it took.

Lilia felt himself give in to his inner and darker desires. Why deny himself? When you were right here? So willing and loving?

The hands clutching at him. Leaving marks of your own. The gasps and moans that you sung, expressed how willing you were.

It wasn’t enough, but it would be. He didn’t plan to stop until the lines that separated you two blurred into one.

Until he was quenched of his thirst for you, until you begged and pleaded for him, knowing nothing but him and pleasure.

He hoped you were ready, because this thirst wouldn’t be satisfied for a long while, and he very much loved the song you sang as he expertly loved you.

The past and current Lilia aligned, enraptured and enthralled in their desires to fully claim and possess you, only the moon a witness to these lovers.

most critics of heroine x villain ships are unknowingly performative, recycling patriarchal ideas of female goodness without ever questioning the cage. it is a masterclass in devastating subservience disguised as feminist critique. you can mute all the faux-progressive language about romanticising toxic relationships, and their arguments would still reek of gut-churning fear and conformity. i feel bad for them. truly. but punishing other women for stepping outside the rigid lines of acceptable womanhood is dystopian. fandoms are not surveillance states. no woman needs permission to enjoy the transgressive. no woman needs to beg forgiveness for enjoying her favourite stories.
