"I do think so. It was extremely reckless so it definitely wouuld've been on your radar." Fortunately for Steve, Bucky was nowhere around when that happened, already been in Europe.
"People always find reasons to hate those that are different. But yes, it's accepted now. It's also legal to get married now. Not that I expect we'd get married. It's just that we came a long way. The Commandos knew about us though. Can't say we were the upmost discreet by the end."
“You think so?” Bucky wondered if maybe he had been too protective of Steve, but he wouldn’t have stopped Steve from doing something that he wanted to. He knew that Steve had been incredibly stubborn back then, so nothing would’ve stopped him anyway.
“That’s stupid. I never understood why people were so against it.” He shrugged a bit. “I think it’s more accepted now. There were some men in HYDRA that fooled around with each other.”

Chapter 4
'Not good, not good, not good.' Tony Stark thought, looking at the TV screen as he worked. He was panicking, watching the announcements that had been going on for the past ten minutes. Captain America had been found and was being thawed out as they spoke. Apparently there was potential that he could very well be alive.
'Not good, not good, not good.' Tony actually put his tools down, collapsing in his seat. His Iron Man suit stood in the middle of his lab, which he had been updating. He thought he was going to have a panic attack.
He was probably the only kid in the world to know who his soulmates were before he even came out of the womb. Not literally, but the moment he could comprehend soulmates, before he could even get excited about the idea of soulmates, his dear old father dropped on him that two of them were dead.
Sergeant James 'Bucky' Barnes had died in combat fighting HYDRA on a train. He'd fallen off the train and his body had never been recovered. It had grieved their soulmate- Captain Steven Grant Rogers- so much that he had committed suicide by bomber plane in the middle of the ocean.
So Tony knew that in reality he only had one soulmate out there. And considering he was going on into his late thirties, early forties, he figured he wasn't going to meet them. Not to mention, being a playboy his entire life had meant his soulmate would be disappointed in him regardless. But he had quit that life, living it with Pepper now, giving his all for their relationship.
And now a fossil from the past was going to come in and just ruin everything.
"It's pretty cool, isn't it?"
Tony nearly threw his wrench at Rhodeys' head.
"You could at least knock!" He scowled at him. "You nearly gave me cardiac arrest."
Rhodey rolled his eyes, "Sure I did. Anyways, what do you think about it?"
"About what? Thawing an old fossil?" Tony shrugged, "Whatever I suppose. My father would've been more excited."
He didn't want to meet Steve Rogers and he didn't want Steve seeking him out. He had the face of an angel, the body of a supermodel, and if his fathers' words were anything to go on, he was polite and sweet and everything that was basically Tonys' kryptonite. And he didn't need it.
Him and Pepper had finally worked things out. He was finally feeling like he belonged somewhere, like he had something worth having. He loved Pepper deeply and besides. . . there was a possibility that Steve didn't even want him. He'd killed himself over James Barnes, perhaps he would just try to die again. No reason to get involved to only have heartbreak. Better to stay happy with Pepper.
No one but his father, mother, and Jarvis knew that Steve Rogers or Bucky Barnes were his soulmates. The most he'd ever shared when asked was that he'd never met them. He didn't want the pity from them being dead. He already got enough pity over his parents. And he didn't want the stigma of being known as 'Captain Americas' soulmate'. He just wanted to be Tony Stark. That was fame enough.
Rhodey had known two of his soulmates were dead, but he'd never told him who they were. But Tony knew Rhodey was smart enough to put the dots together. He couldn't afford that. Rhodey was one of those people who would try and influence him to be with Steve.
It wasn't happening.
。 ★ • * 。
'This is happening.' Steve thought excitedly as he stood amongst the crowd of kneeling people. Loki had surrendered, the clones of himself disappearing. The crowd was soon gone, running for their lives back to the safety of their house.
Tony Stark hovered in the air in his Iron Man suit. Steve had read up on Tony Stark when he'd gone to search out any connections to his old life. Howard had, had a single son: Tony. And now that Steve was in Tonys' presence, he felt that warmth of meeting his soulmate.
It dulled the ache of losing Bucky, enough that Steve even felt happy, like his life could be full and complete again.
And yet on the Quinjet ride back, Tony barely looked in his direction once. Steve longed to reach for him, to touch him, to feel that welcoming spirit of the bond connecting. But he realized that Tony may not want the rest of the team to know what they were until Tony was sure himself. Steve respected that and kept his hands and eyes to himself.
He couldn't help himself to much though, occasionally glancing Tony over to memorize him. He'd like to draw him later, he had good features. He had inherited much of Howards' good looks, though there was something uniquely Tony in his features. His quirky attitude, quips, and comments were definitely Howard though.
He'd been impressed with Tonys' ability to keep up with what Natasha called a 'God'. Thor was his real name and Steve didn't think of him much of a God. There was only one of those anyways, and he certainly didn't wield a hammer.
It took a while to get Loki back to the helicarrier- that's what Fury called the flying ship anyways- and put inside a cubicle. And finally, finally, he and Tony were alone.
He stopped short in the hallway as Tony swung around to face him. Immediately and unapologetically, he said, "I'm not accepting you Cap."
Those words made Steves' heart stop. Thousands of emotions bubbled up inside of him and only childish words came to his lips so that he had to bite his tongue to hold them back, lest Tony think any less of him than he already apparently did. Finally he managed to answer slowly, "I see."
Everything hurt all over again. Part of him wanted to crumble at Tonys' feet and beg him to accept him. But he wouldn't do that. He wouldn't force Tony to be somewhere that he didn't want to be. No matter how much it hurt Steve.
"Glad we're on the same page then." Tony said, turning around and walked off. This time, Steve didn't follow him.
。 ★ • * 。
"Guys I don't see him." Starks' voice came over the comms as Steve sat in the Quinjet with Romanoff and Barton. Stark had flown ahead to change his Iron man suit into a newer one, and to stall Loki so that they could get there quicker.
"He's supposed to be there, isn't he?" Steve's question was meant for Barton but unfortunately, new comms meant he hadn't figured them out yet.
"Yes Cap." Starks' voice was sarcastic through the mic, "But I'm telling you guys he's not here. The scepter is, the bomb is, but Loki is nowhere to be seen."
"Where the hell would he go?" Romanoff looked over at Barton.
Barton was frowning as he piloted the ship, "I don't know. His plan was to use Stark Tower as his calling beacon. It doesn't make sense for him not to be there to protect it."
Steve looked out the Quinjet windows to see that Thor had landed up on Stark tower next too, near Stark, who had changed Iron Man suits.
"Alright we're going to need a change of plan then." Steve said firmly, noticing that the bomb on top of the tower was already opening a portal above New York. "Loki is going to have to be second priority while we deal with these aliens."
"Understood Cap." Romanoff replied.
They were dropped off in the middle of the city to fight through it as the aliens started to descend on the city. Steve slammed his shield into their heads, or else tossed the shield to kill them. The fighting was smooth for the most part, coming back to him like riding a bicycle.
That was when he saw the tall, slender figure racing through the city, ignoring everything around him. He ran as though he were a madman, and Steve noticed that even the golden helmet that had gotten him dubbed 'Reindeer Games' by Stark was gone. He looked different, frantic, panicked.
"I've got eyes on Loki." Steve shouted into his comm, running after the Asgardian God. His first instinct was to jump him and capture him, but basic intuition told him he needed to follow him instead. Wherever Loki was going, it was important.
"Status Cap?" Starks' voice came through on the comms, making Steves' heart ache. How was it that you could long so badly for someone that had hurt you so deeply? It wasn't supposed to feel like this.
"He's running away from the fight is all I can tell so far." Steve responded. "He seems frightened almost, if I could describe it."
"Gotta say those instincts are definitely not up to par Cap." Stark snarked. "Frightened is definitely not what Loki is."
Steves' cheeks burned with embarrassment at the public snub, but he said nothing in response. Stark wanted to pick a fight for some reason and Steve wasn't going to engage.
Steve turned his comm off instead, not wanting anyone talking in his ear while he watched Loki stop in front of a hospital. Ambulances were peeling out like crazy, which Loki ignored. He was trembling and Steve was sure he was right about his original analysis. Loki was displaying signs of anxiety and panic.
Steve quickly jumped the road as Loki darted into the hospital. Steve had a hunch that Lokis' plans here were not evil, but he needed to be sure.
Inside the hospital, it was busy. Already there were people with cuts and bruises, or else bleeding heavily on gurneys. Doctors rushed around and Steve looked for Loki while people stared at him.
He saw Loki out of the corner of his eye, darting down a hallway. Steve ran down the hallway, following him, but skidded to a stop when he turned the corner.
Loki was standing in front of a man who was just as tall as him. His hair was black, his face young and clean shaven. He was wearing blue surgeon scrubs, a white mask pulled down around his chin. He was staring at Loki in surprise, his cheeks a little pink.
"Soulmate." The word out of Lokis' mouth was broken and he fell to his knees, before slumping to his side.
"Hey!" The doctor knelt down, cradling Lokis' head while he checked for his pulse. He looked up, words dying in his mouth as he saw Steve standing there. "Wha-"
"Do you need help moving him?" Steve asked.
"Yes." The doctor said. Steve lifted Loki into his arms easily, carrying him into an empty room. He laid Loki down on the bed carefully, noticing how pale he looked. But, Loki also seemed. . . different.
"What's going on?" The doctor demanded, "Who is he? Why are you here when there are aliens outside?"
"I don't know what's going on anymore than you do. His name however is Loki, God of Mischief from Asgard."
"A God?" the doctor seemed shocked. "Like from Norse Mythology?"
Steve was going to have to read up on whatever that was. He hoped it was like The Wizard of Oz.
"No idea, you'd have to ask his brother Thor." Steve sighed. "Regardless-" He went silent as Loki stirred, his blue eyes opening. "Loki?"
"Captain Rogers. . ." Loki mumbled, his eyes closing again and then he tried to sit up.
"I recommend not sitting up." The Doctor moved forwards, but Loki ignored him, grabbing the front of Steve's uniform.
"Captain. . . the scepter, I dropped. . . I dropped. . ."
"We found it. Tell me what happened, what's going on." Steve demanded.
"I should've died." Loki rasped. The doctor hovered behind, frowning, looking between the two of them. "I fell into the bifrost and should've died. But he found me. He saved me. Thanos. . . he wanted me to attack Midgard. I was angry and I wanted to but then. . . I thought of Thor and how much he loves this planet. I couldn't. So he forced me. . . with the scepter. I couldn't fight. . ." He slumped sideways, letting go of Steve's uniform. Steve barely caught him, lowering the God back into the bed.
"He's the one behind the alien attack?" The doctor was shocked. "How can. . ."
"Not him." Steve said quietly. "He was forced into it, it wasn't his fault." He thought about it for a moment and then came to a realization, "The brainwashing failed when he felt your soulmate bond. The soulmate bond was stronger than the scepter. You freed him."
He looked over at the doctor who looked shocked. "You have a powerful bond with your soulmate. Don't reject him because of this. He's a victim like everyone else."
He left the hospital room before the doctor could say anything and sighed, turning his com back on.
"-one find Rogers now." Starks' voice was still going, snapping into the mic.
"I'm here." Steve said.
"ROGERS-" Stark started angrily but Thor interrupted as Steve started to run back onto the streets, flinging his shield at more enemies. He was suddenly aware of Bruce jumping from building to building as the hulk.
"Captain, where is my brother?"
"Loki is not behind this attack." Steve replied, answering Thor.
"You're so naive." Stark grumbled, but Steve continued to ignore him.
"Apparently there's. . . another God?" Steve questioned, wishing he knew more. "He goes by the name of Thanos. He saved Lokis' life when he fell into the bifrost. . . whatever that is. He brainwashed him with the scepter to do his bidding. But he met his soulmate and it snapped through the brainwashing."
"It's possible." Barton was the one who spoke up. "He was certainly able to brainwash me with the scepter. Bruce was able to get me out of it. Well, hulk really, I suppose."
Steve wasn't the only one to meet his soulmate today. Barton and Romanoff were soulmated to each other and meeting Banner, they discovered he was their soulmate as well. Theirs had a much happier ending than his.
"Guys, I think I can close the wormhole." Romanoffs' voice came over the comms next.
"Do it." Steve commanded.
"No wait." Stark said immediately.
"Stark these things are still coming." Steve protested.
"I got a nuke coming in, it's gonna blow in less than a minute. And I know just where to put it."
What was a nuke? That was a term he hadn't heard before.
Steve raced back to Stark tower as fast as he could, skidding to a stop when he found Barton.
"Stark, what's the status on the. . . nuke?" Steve asked.
"It's a nuclear bomb old man." Stark said, making a tick go off in Steves' jaw. "You know, the same thing they dropped on Japan to blow it up."
Steve frowned, "Japan started that by blowing up Pearl Harbor."
"Guys, right now is really not the time." Romanoff said. "I need to close the portal before more aliens come through."
"Hold on, I'm going to put the nuke through the wormhole." Stark said.
He was going to do what?
"Stark, you know that's a one way trip?" Steve said, panic lacing in his voice. He looked up desperately, searching the sky for the iron man suit. The tall skyscrapers made it impossible to see.
Stark didn't answer him, making his stomach churn. He had barely been back for a full year and he was already going to lose his second soulmate. "Tony?" No reply. Barton was looking at him now, a serious look in his eyes.
Steve held his breath as he saw the Iron Man suit fly up into the wormhole. Steves' heart pounded in his chest, waiting for Stark to come back out. Even if Stark was going to have a future with Pepper instead of him. . . at least he would have a future. Just let him live.
But instead of Stark emerging, a huge supernova was coming towards the wormhole. Thor nodded to Steve and Steves' heart sank, knowing what he had to do. "Close it." He said softly, closing his eyes, feeling only pain.
There was no hesitation between his command and Romanoffs' action, the beam of light shutting off immediately, the hole in the sky getting smaller. Suddenly, a small figure falls through the hole, just as it closes up.
"Son of a gun." Steve whispered to himself, a smile coming over his face and hope restored in his heart.
"He's not slowing down." Thor said, before swinging his hammer around to catch Tony, before the Hulk jumped up, catching him and laying him down on the ground. Thor ripped the face plate off and Steve knelt down beside him, heart pounding in his chest.
Tony looked so still. . .
Steve flinched just slightly as Hulk roared, which jolted Tony upwards.
"What the hell?" Tony asked, looking around almost panicked. "What just happened? Please tell me nobody kissed me."
Steve knew it was supposed to be a joke- probably- but the smile still slid off his face and he looked down at the ground now. "We won." He said instead.
"Alright. Hey. Alright. Good job, guys. Let's just not come in tomorrow. Let's just take a day. Have you ever tried shawarma? There's a shawarma joint about two blocks from here. I don't know what it is, but I wanna try it." Tony babbled on.
"We're not finished yet." Thor said, looking over at Steve.
There was a pause and then Tony said, "And then shawarma after."
。 ★ • * 。
Steve left the shawarma jointed by himself, although he had been dying to talk to Tony alone. See if his priorities had changed. But Tony simply stayed long until Steve decided to leave. If Tony didn't want to talk to him, that was Steves' answer.
Thor would be going back to Asgard with the tesseract and Loki would be staying here on Earth with the doctor, whose name was Stephen Strange. Strange would be in charge of taking care of Loki, who was still feeling after affects of the brainwashing.
He stood on the street, wondering how he was going to get home, when he received a phone call. He flipped the phone open, putting it to his ear. "Hello?"
"Captain Rogers." It was Fury's voice on the other side of the line. 'How would you like a job?"

“Merry Christmas, my darling. I love you so much.”
Steve rolled over closer to Peggy and wrapped his arms around her, nuzzling into her neck. "Merry Christmas, my love. Our first Christmas as husband and wife. Our first Christmas safe at home. Can you believe it?" he said, his voice still thick with gravel. "I love you so much. Every day with you is a gift."

"No, I'm 107 years old," he replied. Although his body didn't show it, it was still his age. But he was definitely not showing it the most with his playfulness. Besides, Sharon did tell him as a joke that she liked older men, in the past.
Her words sent a shiver down his spine. He already knew it to be true. But he enjoyed her confirming it. She was all his and he was all hers.
"Anything else that is all mine?" he asked, his hand on her breast descending on her chest, abdomen and then intimacy.
If Sharon ever told anyone that Captain America liked to play with her boobs, they'd never believe her. Not that she would actually tell....okay maybe Nat. But still.
"What are you, sixteen?" she teased, pressing herself into his hold a little. Didn't mean she didn't enjoy it.
Leaning up slightly she planted a kiss to the corner of his mouth. "They're all yours," she murmured into his ear.

"You Steve Rogers?"
A sloppy man might have dumped the PASIV case on the table; Arthur neatly places the device against the leg of the chair as he sinks into said chair, not taking his eyes off the guy that Coulson said would wait for him in the little cafeteria/mensa/corporate lunch dump place on the first floor of the S.H.I.E.L.D. headquarters.
Ugh. He doesn't like DC. It's … too sterile. Not too clean, mind you, but too sterile. Too dream-like for reality.
"Heard you might be in need of a special excursion."
“ Last I checked. ”
Steve’s smile was quick and polite, though the look in his eyes remained guarded. He hadn’t quite decided what to make of the guy yet. Younger than Steve had expected, for one. Sharp. Too sharp. Even sitting in a crappy government-issue chair, he held himself with a precision Steve usually only saw in people who had something to lose if they slipped up. The guy wasn’t military, not exactly, but Steve could tell he knew how to handle himself, if the situation called for it.
Honestly, Steve hadn’t decided what to make of any of this yet. Modern-day life had been enough to adjust to without worrying about dream infiltration.
He could feel the other man studying him in turn, assessing him the way a tactician might size up a battlefield before making a move. That didn’t bother Steve ; he was used to scrutiny. But there was something in the guy’s expression that made it clear he already knew more about Steve than he should.
( The whole damn thing had Coulson’s fingerprints all over it. )
“ You wanna start by explaining how you plan on getting into my mind, son? ”

The Forgotten Child part 1
Summary: Steve goes on a mission to find a weapon at a Hydra lab and instead discovers a boy with strange powers. The child is found malnourished and badly abused. Steve decides then to take the child home and give him a loving home. Yet things take a turn when they discover other plans had been made for the child by people who wanted to use him for there own gain.
Trigger warning: mention of abuse and neglect

---------------
It had been a total of 60 years since Steve had went back in time to start a life with Peggy. They got married, had children and now the two of them lived together in the home they raised their kids in. Peggy was in her 80s and certainly was begining to look her age. Although Steve still believes she was still the most beautiful woman he ever laid his eyes on. Steve well he looked the same as before. Still fit and looked in his 20s, although he was far from that in years.
When Peggy and him were raising their kids, Peggy worked at shield and Steve was a stay at home dad to their children. Now Peggy had recently retired and Steve was going on missions for shield. Although only high level agents even knew he was still alive.
On a recent mission he rescued a boy. This boy was being used as a lab rat by Hydra. They had injected him with different chemicals and liquid elements hoping to create a super serum of their own. Most of these chemicals only caused the child pain and horrible side effects.
Steve entered his home holding the boy in his arms. The child clinging onto Steve as if he was a life raft. The child was extremely pale and had scars and bruises all over his body. He was extremely thin. Hel looked like he hadn't eaten a good meal in a long time. He had long blonde hair and blue eyes.
Peggy sat in the living room reading when she saw Steve and the child. She couldn't but gasp at the sight of the child. She immediately got up and rushed to them.
“What happened to him?” Peggy asked.
“Hydra. They were experimenting on him, trying to recreate the super serum.” Steve told her.
“Those heartless bastards.” Peggy exclaimed. “I knew they were bad…but this is a new level. This poor. Does he have any family to go to?”
“The mother died. I tried to save her, but she was killed as we were trying to escape.” Steve told her.
As he said that the boy began to cry silently. Peggy put out her arms and motioned for Steve to pass her the child.
She rocked the child and kissed his head.
“Your alright, dearie.” Peggy assured the child. “Your safe here. We won't let anyone hurt you.”
“The father, isn't around. The kid said he never met him.” Steve continued.
“Anyone else? An aunt or uncle.”
“I checked. There's no one else.” Steve answered. “So don't freak out, hear me out. I was thinking we could take him in and raise him. This poor kid has been through hell and the last thing he needs is more term oil. He needs love, a home and family. We can provide that for him. If we're to go into the foster system, it's likely he will get a family that wont care about him, who won't give him the attention he needs. It's a broken system. He also has abilities, ones that he can't control and I'm sure if he went into foster care, he would just be shuffled from home to home. He doesn't need that he needs stability. I know that you just retired and I know that you were looking forward to spending more time together. Especially now that the kids are out of the house. But I really think we need to help this boy. He really needs us and I think-”
“Steve, would you shut up for a second?” Peggy laughed. “Of course we can take him in. I agree he needs a good home, a good family. We can provide that for him. I don't know how many years I have left. But I know I want to continue to make a difference in people's lives until I die.”
“Your the most amazing woman to ever exist. That's a fact.” He replied.
“Aw Darling, your so sweet.” Peggy answered. “Your a good man, with a big heart. It's wonderful that you want to help him. I will be at your side to do that too.”
Peggy set down the kid onto the couch. Then Steve hugged Peggy and kissed her lips. He felt so thankful to have a wife as kind as her.
She then looked to the child with a smile.
“Hello little love, my name is Peggy Rogers.” Peggy began. “Your new friend Steve is my husband.”
The child just stared at her, nervous and unsure about this new person.
“I just made some chocolate chip cookies would you like to try some?” Peggy continued, putting out her hand to the child.
The child looked to Steve. He smiled at him and nodded.
“You can trust her.” Steve told the child. “I have trusted my life to her many times, she has never failed me once.”
The boy moved forward and then took Peggy's hand. She then lead him to the kitchen.
****
Peggy watched as she sat across from the boy and he scarfed down her cookies. It was strange especially cause she was a horrible cook. No one liked her cookies, expect steve. Whom she’d venture only said he liked them to make her happy.
She looked at the little boy up and down, he looked as if he hadn't eaten in days.
“Did they feed you at Hydra?” Peggy questioned.
“One meal a day, it was a protein bar with water.” The boy answered. “My mom would sometimes try to sneak me more food. But they would hurt her if she got caught. I didn't like seeing mommy hurt.”
“Course not.” Peggy answered with sympathy.
“Did you see what happened to your mother?” Peggy asked.
She hoped the answer would be no. This child didn't need more emotional scars.
“Me, and mommy and Mr. Steve were running out of the building. The bad guys they had guns and they shot at us. A bullet came toward me and mommy blocked it. She got hit instead of me.”
“Sounds like she's a very brave woman.” Peggy said. “I wish I could have met her.”
“She was the best. Me and her played lots of games like ‘I Spy’ and ‘Going on a Picnic’. Oh and she loved to tell me stories about heros like Hercules and Robin Hood. She knew lots of stories just from her head.”
“Wow that's really lovely.”
“Do you know any stories?” the boy asked.
“I don't know many by heart. I do have a bookshelf of stories though, that I can read to you.”
“wow that's a lot.” The child remarked.
“Do you have a name by the way?” Peggy asked.
“They called me 2342 at Hydra.”
This saddened Peggy further.
“Well we will have to change that and think of something proper to call you.” Peggy told him.
“Okay.” He answered simply. “Like what?”
“My husband and I, raised all girls. They were wonderful, strong, beautiful girl who grew into extraordinary women. Anyways Steve always said if we had a boy, he'd want to name it James after his best friend.”
“I like that name.” The boy answered.
He was silent for a moment. He appeared to be thinking.
“Are you and Steve going to me my new mommy and daddy?”
“If you want us to. We're going to take care of you. You don't have to call us mommy and daddy if you don't want to you. You can if you’d like too.”
“....Well I never had a Dad so I would like one. I ldon't know if I want a new mom, I really liked the one I had.”
“That's okay, love. I understand.” She told him. “You do what feels right to you.”
“One last thing, do you know how to take a bath? Cause honestly, my love, you stink.”
“What's a bath?” James asked.
“Your gonna find out.” Peggy answered.
Peggy then took the child to the bathroom and drew him a bath. As she took off his clothes she noticed scars on his back. She didn't want to know how or why. She was sure it was a tragic story. They were long scars as if he had been cut. On his arms were red bumps, which she had assumed were injection scars. She cleaned the child. There was layers and layers dirt on his skin, she had to scrub hard to get any of it off.
*****
Steve had been cooking lunch in the kitchen. It was a simple meal of homemade macaroni and cheese.
He had set the table with the macaroni pot in the center of the table. He also had the radio playing the latest baseball game. He loved the LA dodgers, he used to root for the dodgers when they were in Brooklyn.
Peggy then entered the kitchen holding James’s hand. James was dressed in one of Peggy’s pajama tops. It had pink and blue striped with buttons down the front. He wore matching striped pants and a pink robe over the outfit. The clothes were clearly to long for him. The sleeves consumed his arms and he had to roll up the pants legs to be able to walk.
Steve could contain his laugher at seeing the child.
“I didn't have anything in the the house that would fit him.” Peggy explained. “I tried putting him in one of your pajama sets but it was worse.”
“We will have to go into town and buy him some clothes tomorrow.” Steve replied. “For tonight, it's fine, at least he will be warm and clean.”
“Thank you for the clothes. These are comfy.” James spoke. “I like them alot. I didn't get many new clothes before.”
They then sit down and begin to eat.
“Can I ask a question.” James spoke.
“Of course, always.” Steve answered.
“Why did you save me?” he asked looking to Steve.
Steve was taken back by that question. Did he not want to be saved? Wasn't he unhappy living the way he was?
“Well because Hydra was hurting you and I wanted you to be safe and happy.”
“But you didn't even know me. Why would you care about someone you don't know?”
“people are people and they all deserve to live happy lives. They deserve to be shown love and joy. Your no different. When I see someone in trouble, I want to help, I want to help them have a better life.”
“That's really kind.” James answered.
There was silence as they continued eating.
“Also Peggy said you two had daughters. What happened to them?” James asked.
“They grew up, they are still around.” Steve told him. “They just don't live here anymore. One has a family of her own now and the other moved away to follow a job.”
“Oh. Are they nice?”
“Very. ones a school teacher and the other is working as an field agent for the government.” Steve answered. “you will meet them some day.”
“I would like to meet them.” James answered. “There your kids so I'm sure they are really nice.”
“Is there anything you want to know about us?” Steve asked.
“What do you do for work?”
“I'm retired. I used to be the director for a government organization.” Peggy answered.
“I was retired and now I'm working as a agent to a government organization. Which your going to have to keep a secret.”
“I can do that.” James answered.
****
Then suddenly Tony Stark showed up at the home. He has a key since Peggy has always been close with, ever since he was a child. she saw him as a son she never had.
“So we have a bit of a crisis going on.” Tony began. “How come neither one of you answer your phone?”
“There turned off. It's dinner time.” Peggy answered. “You could eat with us if you like, Anthony. Just grab a plate.”
“no thank you Aunt Peggy.” Tony answered. “Although I'm sure the food is great. I'm here on shield business.”
“What's wrong?” Peggy questioned.
Tony noticed the child sitting with them.
“No no no no no! What is wrong with you!?” Tony shouted.
Then he glared at Steve then pointed to him.
“Him. Are you trying to get me fired? Or are you just unwilling to follow any instructions set for you? You were supposed to retrieve him and bring hin back to shield that was what was agreed on. That was your mission.”

A mission together, Steve had learned to trust Sharon. And they seemed to work well together. Pretending to be newly wed. The assignment had gone well. And they were ready to go. But Steve had said as a joke that if they were on their honeymoon, they should have sex everywhere in the hotel room they were provided. Tony Stark rubbing off badly on Steve, perhaps. But now Sharon was naked on the couch, legs spread, her hand in Steve's hair. Steve was between her legs, licking her intimacy, encouraged by her moans, his hand on her perfect breast.

Home Alone; It wasn't her favorite movie but it was definitely a classic you had to see at least once for the holidays. Seeing as Steve was still working on catching up with his pop culture she'd decided to put it on but he'd picked up a book and wasn't paying attention. She was tempted to change it to A Christmas Story but it was almost over.
During one of her many snack breaks she'd glanced the cover on his book. " The Wizard of Oz? " she said, jumping back onto her place on the couch, bag of popcorn in hand. " You know they made a musical about that. Well, " she said, correcting herself, "there was a book that came out in the 90s called Wicked it was pulled from that was a different version of The Wizard of Oz." It was actually quite dark compared to the original. And a bit racy. Definitely not for a little kid to read. Affairs and love children.

Chapter 3
TW: Suicide/Attempted Suicide
Bucky was delirious as he stared at the metal ceiling above him. How the lights in the room were always on, making him want to keep his eyes closed, but also stare at them without closing his eyes at the same time. They blinded him so he could never see what they were doing to him. But he could feel it.
He was out of it though, so the pain just felt constant, almost numbing. He felt like he was on a boat, feeling like he was moving up and down. . . or was it side to side?
People started to murmur through the room, a low humming sound before a miracle happened.
The lights turned off.
He sighed and closed his eyes, feeling like he could finally sleep. And as he slept, he had a weird dream of gunshots and people screaming, before everything fell silent. At least for a little while. He thought maybe the pattering of footsteps started, then stopped short, then started again, before heavier ones picked up, stopping in his room.
A dream. An angels' face was above his, looking down upon him in worry. It looked like Stevie, but it wasn't. It couldn't be, this man was at least two feet taller than Steve.
"Bucky?" His voice sounded like Steves'.
"Steve?" He asked hoarsely. It had to be a dream. This couldn't be Steve.
"I thought you were dead." Steve said, ripping away the straps that had been holding him down.
"I thought you were smaller." Bucky mumbled as the large man helped swing him up onto his feet. He stumbled for a moment. "What happened to you?"
"I joined the army." Steve replied, wrapping Buckys' arm over his shoulder to help him out of the room.
Punk.
They run through the facility and for the few amount of times Bucky actually puts his feet on the ground, it feels like he's flying. Uncomfortably, but still flying. He wonders if this is how Steve felt every time he picked the punk up.
"Did it hurt?" He asked, worrying, while also ignoring the fact that the HYDRA facility was literally exploding around them.
"Little bit."
"Is it permanent?"
"So far."
"Our soulmates are going to love you." Bucky huffed.
Steve only laughed. The two of them stop and Steve lets Bucky go. Bucky feels a little dizzy, grabbing the railing to see why Steve stopped, before seeing the leader of the base on the other side of the catwalk.
"Captain America. How exciting. I'm a fan of your films." He smiled.
What films? Stop hitting on my soulmate. Was Steve a movie star now? Hands off asshole.
He could only watch as Schmidt and Steve walked forwards slowly on the catwalk. More explosions happened below them and if Bucky was more sure on his feet, he would've joined Steve. But at the moment, he felt more like a hindrance.
"So the old man managed it after all. Not quite an improvement, but impressive."
"You've got no idea." Steve said angrily.
"Don't I?" He punched at Steve and Bucky nearly gasped, but Steve got his shield up in time, which became dented. Schmidt punched Steve to the ground and Bucky started to panic just a little bit.
"Erskine said your experiment was a failure." Steve said, seeming stunned. Then Bucky watched in awe as Steve kicked up, kicking him in the jaw, sending Schmidt sprawling to the floor. The small man who had experimented on Bucky immediately reached for the catwalk controls, separating the two. . . were either of them even men?
Bucky was shocked when he realized that Schmidts' face looked. . . almost uneven. As though it was a piece of paper you'd put on an outline but had missed it by just an inch.
"A failure? Oh, no, Captain. I was his greatest success." He said as he got to his feet. Bucky nearly threw up as he peeled his face away, revealing his red face underneath. He tossed his. . . face? Mask? into the fiery depths below them.
Bucky looked worriedly at his soulmate, wondering if Steve was going to pull his face off too. "You don't have one of those, do you?"
"You're a liar, Captain. You pretend to be a simple soldier. But in reality you're just afraid to admit we've left humanity behind. Unlike you, I embrace it proudly. Without the masquerade. . . without fear."
"Then how come you're running?" Steve retorted.
But Steve can't do anything as both of the Nazis disappear through a hallway as another explosion sounds from below.
"Let's go." Steve says, pointing to the staircase behind Bucky. Bucky follows him up the stairs to find there's a support beam that will lead them to the other side. "You first." Steve says, pushing Bucky towards the beam.
Bucky wishes Steve was going first, just to make sure that he was safe, but he knows that he doesn't have time to debate this or they're both dead. But with every step he takes, he can feel the entire thing coming apart. Another explosion sounds and Bucky runs, leaping off the beam to grab the other side as it falls.
He climbs up over the side and looks around frantically for something he can toss or give to Steve. "There's got to be a rope or something-"
"JUST GET OUT!"
"NOT WITHOUT YOU!" Bucky was panicking now. If Steve was going to die here, then Bucky was going to die with him. There was no way he was going to run and leave his soulmate behind.
Bucky panics even more as Steve starts to back up, dropping the shield he had been carrying. It's an impossible gap to leap, especially with the entire building coming down. And yet, he moves to the side and waits, holding his breath as Steve runs and leaps.
"NO!" Bucky screamed as an explosion sends a column of flames up in the path that Steve had been jumping through. And yet- Steve landed on the other side, rolling to the side. His back was black with soot, but Bucky didn't care, falling to his knees, touching Steve, before grabbing him and kissing him. "You crazy son of a bitch."
"Language." Steve breathed into his lips, before getting to his feet, hauling Bucky up. "We need to go, now."
。 ★ • * 。
"So." Bucky says softly as the two of them sit on the same army camp bed. Steve was tending to his wounds and he winced as Steve gently dabbed at one of the cuts on his shoulder. "What exactly happened to you?"
He listened as Steve slowly told him the story of what had happened, starting with when Bucky had left him at the Stark Expo. How he'd been chosen to be a Super Soldier which hadn't only enhanced his height, but also his strength, speed, and healing abilities amongst other things. He talked about Doctor Erskine's death painfully and also the forming friendship between himself and Howard Stark as well as Peggy Carter.
"Seems like you're doing alright then." Bucky said, relieved, gritting his teeth as Steve gently stitched the wound up. It was weird, feeling Steve against him, knowing that this man was now taller than him, if only by two inches.
"I am, now that you're here." Steve said softly. "I've been worried, not hearing from you. And then thinking you were dead. . ."
He didn't have to finish. Bucky never wanted to know how it felt, knowing your soulmates life was in danger.
"But you're okay." Steve said, finally putting the needle to the side, kissing the side of Buckys' neck. "You're here and you're safe and I love you."
"I love you too." Bucky murmured softly, turning so he could kiss Steves' cheek.
"Hey Buck?" Steve asked quietly. "I know that it's. . . I mean you haven't been here long. You haven't been around. . . me long. Do you- I mean I've changed so- do you- I'm different and I just don't-"
"You look amazing." Bucky said softly, moving around so that he could face Steve comfortably. "I mean, I will always love you, no matter what you look like. And I loved you when you were a small twig too. And I love you now still, as this big hulking dude who really looks like he can toss me around like a rag doll."
Steve chuckled softly. "I just know you like being the protector. And now I can protect myself and you. I just didn't know if you resented that."
"Never." Bucky said firmly. "Who knows? Maybe it could be a nice change of pace."
Steve smiled, putting the first aid kit away, laying down completely on the bed, holding his arms out. Bucky gingerly laid down across his broad chest, Steve gently wrapping his arms around him. It felt nice, Bucky thought as he closed his eyes, starting to relax. He hoped this is what Steve had felt every time Bucky had held him. Because it felt amazing.
Steve started to hum softly. It was a lullaby their mothers had sung to them when they were children to get them to fall asleep. Bucky wished he could remember all the words. Something about little boy blue and cows in the meadow.
And soon he drifted off to sleep.
。 ★ • * 。
Steve shut off Peggys' voice as he aimed the plane down at the ice below him. He had no intentions of surviving this.
There was nothing left to live for. Bucky was dead and Steves' guilt was eating him alive. After failing to save Bucky, there was no way that Steve was going to live. He was to old for whatever soulmate Howard would produce for him, and he felt that he would feel more like a second father to Howards' child- if indeed he even ever had one. Perhaps the feelings he and Buck had gotten around Howard were a fluke.
He didn't want to live. It was as simple as that. Buckys' picture sat inside his compass, smiling at him. He was going to be with his soulmate soon.
He wondered about their forth soulmate for only a split second. Not Bucky, not Howards' non-existent family member. Who were they? Male or female? Tall, short, cute, handsome, brunette, blond, red head? He wished only for a moment that he had met them. Maybe things would've turned out differently.
At least they would never know the pain of losing Bucky.
And as he hit the ice, he relished the fact that he wouldn't know the pain of losing Bucky anymore either.

Merry Christmas, sugar. I love you so much and I'm glad you're in my life.

Steve smiled and wrapped his arms around her waist. "Merry Christmas, sweetheart. I thank God every day for bringing me to you, Ginny. And now, look," he said pointing up at the mistletoe above their head. "He's working his magic yet again."

"Hm." Steve hummed in response eyes fixated on the crowd before he looked more to the other beside him. "Celebrations always feel....off after great hardship. But, I suppose, we can't take away from what this means for us, for everyone." It was bitter sweet, of course it made sense but it felt like a sick joke to celebrate after such massive loss.

The Forgotten Child Part 2 (out of three)
Warning: mention of neglect and abuse
Then suddenly Tony Stark showed up at the home. He has a key since Peggy has always been close with, ever since he was a child. she saw him as a son she never had.
“So we have a bit of a crisis going on.” Tony began. “How come neither one of you answer your phone?”
“There turned off. It's dinner time.” Peggy answered. “You could eat with us if you like, Tony. Just grab a plate.”
“No thank you Aunt Peggy.” Tony answered. “Although I'm sure the food is great. I'm here on shield business.”
“What's wrong?” Peggy questioned.
Tony noticed the child sitting with them.
“No no no no no! What is wrong with you!?” Tony shouted looking toward Steve with shock and anger.
Then he glared at Steve then pointed to him.
“Him. Are you trying to get me fired? Or are you just unwilling to follow any instructions set for you? You were supposed to retrieve him and bring hin back to shield that was what was agreed on. That was your mission.”
“They told me I was retrieving a weapon, not a kid. I won't hand over a child to shield.” Steve answered. Very confident and sure of his decision. “I don't know what they are planning and if they didn't tell me I'm sure they think it's something I won't approve of.”
“We planned to protect him by sending him the Xavier school for the gifted.” Tony answered. “It's a boarding school where they take in kids who have super abilities-”
“I know if it. I sent my daughter there when it first opened. She loved it there.”
“Great! So let's send the kid there.” Tony replied. “The teachers can protect him from Hydra, they will take care of him and he will be with others like him. Then when he's older maybe he can join shield. It's a win win win.”
“No. He needs a family, not some school to turn him into a super hero.” Steve argued. “shield is just as bad as Hydra, they want to use him for their own advantage. What about what's best for him? He needs love, a home and individualized attention. He deserves the chance to be a normal kid and feel loved.”
“Hes not a normal kid! You don't know the first thing about him.” Tony rebuttaled. “He could be brainwashed for all you know. You don't even know what he can do. He could hurt you both. Are you willing to risk that!? Peggy is almost 86 years old, she can't fight him if he attacks her!”
“No I won't!” James shouted.
The boy hid behind Steve after he spoke. Steve picked him up and held him close in his arms.
“I won't hurt them. I don't want to hurt anyone.” James said quietly. “ I just want to be a normal kid.”
“I can protect myself and her,Tony, if need be.” Steve spoke. “I know I can help him to controlling his abilities. They were trying to recreate the super serum, so I'm sure his abilities will be similar to me.”
“Aunt Peggy talk some sense into him. You shouldn't be raising a child at your age. You should be celebrating life and living life to it's fullest.”
“Tony, enough.” Peggy said. “I think it's time to go.”
Tony couldn't believe, what he felt, was arrogance of these people. He didn't think they could do what they claimed. He felt this was a mistake that would hurt not only them but those around them.
Tony left but he didn't agree with there choice and he made sure to let shield know what really happened.
Shortly after Tony left Steve put James to bed. He brought him into his daughters old room. It was blue and had white furniture. There was some stuffed animals on the bed and posters of heros on the walls.
“Wow this is mine?” James asked.
“If you want it.”
James ran to the bed and climbed on to it. He cuddled all the stuffed animals on the bed, until he found the one he liked best. It was a brown teddy bear dressed in a tuxedo. Then he got under the blankets.
“Yeah I want it!” He said excitedly.
Steve smiled and picked a children's book from the shelf. Then he sat next to James in the bed.
Steve began to read the book and James cuddled up to him.
*****
“So then turtle made it to the finish line before the rabbit. He won the whole race by taking his time.” Steve concluded at the end of the story.
“The rabbit was dumb, he shouldnt have slept in the middle of the race.” James decided. “He should have been more focused and did some running.”
“Yeah I think so too.” Steve answered with a chuckle.
“The turtle was good at trying,” James added. “ he kept going even when they thought he wouldn't win.”
“Your a very smart kid. You figured it all out on your own. Im proud of you.”
The boy then hugged Steve.
Steve missed moments like this. When his girls were little they were so cute and attached to him. They were happy to spend all their time with him and Peggy. Now they were so busy with their own lives, they were lucky to see them in a week.
On a shelf in the room, James spotted a baseball cap.
“Why is that baseball cap on a shelf? Is it there because it's wrong. It says Brooklyn dodgers instead of LA and it has writing on it.”
Steve smiled.
“You know about baseball?” Steve asked confused. “Who taught you about it?’
“my mother. she explained the game to me. She stole a radio once from one of the agents. When no one was around and it was just the two of us, she would put it on on low.” James answered. “Sometimes she would play music, other times she would put the sports radio stations on for me. I always found the sound of the baseball games soothing.”
“That's really nice.” Steve answered.
“So whats with the hat? Why is it wrong?” James asked Steve.
“It's not wrong. The Dodgers used to play in Brooklyn when I was a kid. I loved the team ever since. When I had kids, I raised them loving the team. Jackie Robinson was the first black man to play on major league team. Durring his first season, in 1947, with the dodgers I got him to sign that cap. It's my most prized possession.”
“So why is it in here?” James asked.
“My daughter, Amy, loves baseball and the Dodgers as much as me.” Steve replied. “Me, I always loved to go to games together. When she was older I gave it to her.”
“That's nice. Wait you got that in 1947? Thats a really long time ago. Your really old.”
Steve laughed loudly.
“Yes I am, thanks for noticing.” Steve said sarcastically.
“But how old?”
“I think you should guess.”
“Umm…200!”
“Not that old. Less then that.” Steve chuckled.
“80?”
“More.”
“90?” James’s guessed.
“More.”
“No way! 100?”
“105.” Steve told him.
“Wow! I never met anyone that old!” James exclaimed. “You don't look it at all. How is that even possible to be that old?”
“Good diet and healthy habits.”
“No way. You have super powers, you said so before. That is probably how your so old.”
“Your very smart for a six year old.” Steve commented.
“They trained me to be at Hydra.” James explained. “They would take me out and make me watch videos on history, math, science, critical thinking and strategy. They even had videos on how to build things like bombs and weapons.”
Steve wasn't sure how to respond to that. He knew that him and Peggy would have the challenge of undoing what Hydra did to him. Helping him through his emotional trauma and helping him forget any bad things Hydra taught him. Building bombs and weapons, wasn't a task for a child to learn.
“Hey Steve, Peggy said that you and her will be my new mom and dad. So can I start calling you Dad then?”
“Of course you can.” Steve answered. Then he kissed the boys head.
He was surprised by this question, but welcomed it.
“Would Peggy be your mom then?” Steve asked.
“She said I could.” James answered nervously. Afraid to disappoint his new caregiver. “But I already had a mom and I loved her a lot. I don't want to replace her yet. I'm sorry.”
Steve hugged James.
“No it's okay, I understand.” Steve answered.
Steve kissed the boys head and then made his way to the door.
“Hey Dad.” James called out. “Thank you for saving me today and for bringing me here. You and Peggy are the nicest people in the world. I'm really glad that your my new family.”
“I'm glad I saved you too and that your here.” Steve answered. “Your a great kid. I'm looking forward to getting to know you more.”
“Good night.” James said.
“Good night.” Steve answered.
******
A month later.
“Peggy? Where are you?” James called out looking through the house.
There was silence.
“I'm gonna find you.” James stated into the air. “I'm the best finder.”
He passed by a closet and opened the door. There she was.
She popped out of the closet and then she began to tickle him.
He laughed loudly and hugged her neck.
“So whats the plan for today? What do you want do?” Peggy asked him.
“I want to go to the pool! I can't wait to show you how fast I can swim.”
“The pool it is, My Lovely Boy!” Peanswered happily. “First let's have some breakfast. I will make you some chocolate chip pancakes.”
“Can I help you this time? I will be really careful.” He told her looking at her pleadingly.
“Okay, but you have to be very very careful.” She warned kindly. “We don't want to waste ingredients or make a mess.”
“Thank you!”
She then picked him up and cradled him in her arms and kissed his face over and over. He smiled and kissed her cheek.
Peggy loved having James around. It gave her back a sense of purpose that she lost when she retired. Plus when her children growing up she was working so many hours and she felt like she missed a lot of there childhoods because of that. Now she had the opportunity to do things differently and be present in James’s life.
The two made pancakes together. They laughed and joked around with each other as always. Peggy showed James how to measure the ingredients and helped him pour it into the bowl.
“Can I ask you something?” James began.
“Always.” Peggy answered.
“When that man came trying to take me away, he mentioned a school for people with powers.” James began. “He said that I could learn to gain control of my powers and be with others like me. How you don't want me to go there?”
“Our daughter, Amelia, went to that school when it first opened. She was born with the ability to time travel and manipulate time.”
“No way that's so awesome!”
“Yes but when she was a little girl it caused her alot of issues. She would just randomly time travel and disappear for weeks even months. We didn't know what to do so we sent her to the school. It was a boarding school. Steve and I were determined to keep her home. We didn't want her to feel like we were abandoning her and we didn't want her to think we didn't love her. So we made a deal with Xavier. He allowed her to attend the school but she lived at home. He was fine with it because at the time he didn't have many students and he felt it an honor to train Captain America's child. I don't think the new headmaster would allow the same deal. Anyways Amy loved it there! She made so many life long friends and she learned to control her powers so precisely, plus she discovered abilities she didn't even know she had. When she came home she would show off.”
“So what's the problem? Sounds like a great place to be.”
“Well the main thing was that the school was constantly being attacked. The teachers were a super hero team and so the school became their headquarters. I was so afraid of her getting hurt there. Not only that but half the kids felt abandoned and disconnected to their families and the world outside the school walls. Many lashed out and became involved with villians. To be fair some of the student became heros, many did in fact. I just don't want to take that risk with you. I don't want you to expose any of that for you. I want you to feel loved and accepted and I want you to show you the good of the world, since you have seen so much of the bad already.”
James nodded.
“I think I understand.” James said. “You don't want me to be bad. You think if Im around bad people then I may become bad too.”
“With any child, the type of friends you keep effect who you are and who you become. Being a good person equals better opportunities and a better life.”
She was afraid that already having the bad influence of Hydra he would be more easily persuaded by those who are bad. She wanted to teach him how to be a good person and how to have a normal life. She wanted a good life for him.
“I never wanted to do bad things. Hydra wanted me to be bad and they forced me to do things I hated. They had me do bad things….really bad things. I want to be good though, my mother wanted me to be good. She always told me to listen to my heart and do what's right. She wanted me to disobey the agents, but I was always too scared.”
“We all get scared at times, James.” Peggy told him. “you made mistakes and you can't change that. You can choose what you do in your future. You choose to be what Hydra wanted or to be what your mother wanted.”
“I want to be good. Will you teach me?”
“Of course, My Lovely Boy. That's what Steve and I are here for.”
James hugged Peggy.
“I love you.” James said with tears in his eyes.
“I love you too.” Peggy answered, hugging him back.
James went to get into his bath suit and towel for the pool. As he was searching for his things he began to hear voices coming from the living room. One was Peggy and another was a deep voice she didn't recognize. He slowly walked out of his room and through the hall way. He saw a man talking to Peggy in the living room. The man looked scary to him. He was dressed all in black and wore an eye patch. James hid in his room, but opened the door slightly and peaked out.
“Peggy, you and Steve can't keep this child.” Nick fury spoke. “I know you want to help him. We do too and thats why we think he will be better off in the hands of professionals.”
“You have no right to be here.” Peggy spoke up. “Get out now.”
“We didn't interfere for a month. We let you have your fun playing mom. It's very clear, you two aren't able to manage him. “
“We are doing perfectly fine on our own. We don't need shield interference.” Peggy told him confidently.
“We understand there have been some incidents.”
“Of course there have been incidents. We are still learning about him and his abilities. He has powers that he just learning about now, that he never experienced before. Steve and I are thinking on our feet and coming up ways to help him. That's what parents do they see a problem and test out solutions. That's what we are doing.”
“He's out of control.”
“He's not. He's learning to control his abilities.”
“He was kicked out of a day camp because he scared the other children.”
“It was an accident. He banged his fist on a table and it went through. The other kid was teasing him and he told to stop and so James banged his fist on the table. Then he got upset when he saw what he did, so he ran out of the class and he ripped the door off.”
“You don't see how that's bad?”
“He didn't hurt anyone and he didn't do it out of anger. He was upset and frustrated cause someone was teasing him.”
“Incident number two, at the local park, he was playing with some kids. The children were racing, the child was clearly faster than the other kids. While trying to catch up to him one kid fell and injured her leg.”
“That could happen with kids without powers.” Peggy scuffed. “I told him no more racing after that. Plus Steve is teaching him to control his emotions, his strength and his speed. Steve has the same abilities as him, so he knows what to do to control these powers. It's just a matter of James putting into action what he learned.”
“This boy is dangerous! He needs more than Steve to keep him in check. He's a child that has the abilities of Captain America, if someone gets him upset he could kill someone!”
“He won't kill anyone, he's a kind boy and loving boy.”
“He was raised by Hydra for 6 years.” Nick fury rebutted. “they weren't just injecting him those six years they training him to be a weapon. They taught him how to fight, how to think.”
Nick fury handed her a Hydra file with James’s picture.
“I don't care what's in here.” Peggy spoke, throwing it into the trash. “Hydra makes people do crazy things. They have ways of bringing out the worst in people. That doesn't make them bad people. Steve and I can undo any damage Hydra has done to that boy. We been undoing Hydra's messes for years. He's a child and he deserves a chance to be normal, that's what he wants. Steve and I want to give him that.”
“If you won't give him willingly then we will just take him.” Fury spoke. “We have been patient with you, but we have to do what's best for the greater good.”

Cont. from @fablewoven || Aida and Steve (x)
"I'd be inclined to agree with you there. Who doesn't like ice cream?" she asked. "Psychopaths, that's who." A smile crossed her gaze and she nodded as they stood, beginning to walk alongside her friend. "Oh, you don't have to thank me Steve. I enjoy spending time with you." Over the years, she had grown to consider Steve one of her closest friends and she cared deeply for his happiness and wellbeing. "Besides, as much as I love my job, being cooped up in the lab all the time isn't actually what I consider a fun way to spent my free time. Contrary to what some might tell you."

"Wait, hold on." Steve says as he takes another drink of his coffee. He feels like he should be more awake for this conversation. Or he should have slept more than he did last night. Regardless, he's processing what Bucky is trying to tell him.
"They want you to become a member of congress?" He asks, pausing to drink more coffee. Besides Sam and a few others, Bucky is who Steve keeps up with the most. He leans back in his seat as they sit across from one other in one of Steve's favorite diners. Most of the food sits untouched in front of him. He has however been eating the apple pie. He takes another bite of it, chewing before he speaks again. "I'm happy for you, truly, but, I also want you to be careful." Even with his pardon, Steve is weary about. Just as he is weary about how they got Sam working for the president. He never worked for the president. "As long as it is something that you want to do, I support it."

Steve covered himself as he saw Sharon in the room. His whole body covered in a bright red blush that showed just how embarassed he was to be caught by her. And she probably knew he was thinking about her. He did say her name. "I'm so embarassed. Please leave," he said, bringing the blanket closer to his chest, like trying to hide from her completely. Even if he was still hard from his actions and her being there didn't help his hardness.
