So little thing that I learned recently; under the FDA, drug manufacturers are not required to disclose presence of major allergens in their products. While most medications do not contain gluten-containing ingredients, if you have any food allergy you need to make sure it's on file with your pharmacy, and speak with your pharmacist to find out how they flag for allergens in their system. Sometimes you may need to contact the manufacturer--if so, have the drug NDC (National Drug Code)# on hand, as they often need that to look it up. You can get this information (as well as manufactuer name) from your pharmacy.

My parents bought their 4 bed 3.5 bath house 32 years ago for $145,000 (originally $200,000). This summer a similar house a block away (similar age, 4 bed 3.5 bath, slightly smaller lot) went up for $800,000. It's since been reduced to $650,000 and they put some more work into it, but it's still on the market. I know interest and investment and overall cost of living raise prices, but that just seems like highway robbery to me.

#so to recap what we all know if we're following the Angela is Sickly series#i can't eat tree nuts. i can't eat trail mix that has come in contact with tree nuts. i am uneasy about eating anything that has been in a#facility with tree nuts because i have had allergic reactions just as severe from cross-contamination as i have had from straight up#eating walnuts. the one exception to this rule is pistachios because i have yet to have an issue with them#i don't eat pecans anymore because i had a reaction. almonds are on thin ice i don't really eat them#also. also i dislike nuts. it's not a hard rule but i don't like them at all. i am not a picky eater they just happen to be one of the#foods i dislike they're a bad texture and they taste like wood. except for the beautiful pistachio#and then we have the alpha gal allergy so. it's not Nearly as severe in terms of life-threatening anaphylaptic response but#the trade-off is a week-long world ending stomachache. which is extremely not fun and also could at any point randomly turn into#a more severe allergy so i. sort of don't fuck with it. there are exceptions that i regret every time because ouch. no red meat.#similarly. we respond not too great to dairy. can't have a lot. can't be fixed by lactaid pills or anything because it's not lactose#intolerance it's an allergy. so. no tree nuts except pistachios. no red meat. light dairy. i am twenty pounds underweight.#my doctor told me to keep red meat in my diet if i couldn't maintain my weight and uh. Bad News i can't maintain weight but also it's a#massive trigger so what the fuck do i do here. to be allergic to some of the most caloric and fatty foods out there#tried to start up boosts and i will continue doing so but im getting stomachaches from them too. like the fuck do u do#im eating eggs and avocado and olive oil and peanut butter etc and im still losing weight. i don't ever have an appetite#gets to a point where im like Well we might end up in a fucking hospital because i keep losing weight and idk why#tests aren't showing anything other than alpha gal and minor inflammation we don't have a reason for#tomorrow i will fucking have egg and avocado and olive oil and butter and a boost and an antispasmodic and water and#i will get a stomachache again and be tired again. In the interests of my "keep moving, keep smiling, keep fighting" ethos, here I go again....
Insulin pod malfunction through the night. High blood sugar (up to 3x what it should be - 18mmol/ml) ALL night. Even after changing it at 4am, it took hours to come back down.
So not exactly full of vim or vigour this morning, lol.
But up and outside for breakfast. No apple today. New thought is that I'm possibly intolerant. Apples were high on the list of the hair strand intolerance test I took months ago. Cutting them out back then made no difference. But yesterday I realised that I was still eating what I now know I'm allergic to. So it's maybe a combination of allergens AND intolerances. Anyhoo, time will once again tell. Hoping for the recent blood test results today.
It's very bad so far this morning. Has been for at least a few weeks now.
Breakfast today was grapes, macadamia and walnuts. Collagen and inulin coffee, of course. Little stick of liquorice root.
Then a half hour walk.
Head is seriously bad, because of the mucus reaction. I can't let it completely beat me.
So I kept going until I needed to go back into recovery mode.
I powered through, getting on with a lower body strength workout in our little home gym.
Just two pieces of equipment.
30kg bar for the squats and deads, 12kg kettlebell for the single deads and elevated calf raises.
Felt great.
Strength training is "easier" than cardio in this state.
Then bacon, avocado and cheese for lunch.
Handful of lettuce, spring onion, a few mushrooms and nutritional yeast to add a bit of extra interest, crunch, taste and nutrition.
I've also had an hour or so of hard work, helping to clean the outside of the motorhome. That's a workout in itself!
And I've had my two new books delivered, along with high strength vitamin C and zinc. I keep seeing how important those things are, and I'd say I'm very likely deficient.
So to sum up, for now, I'm taking every hour as it comes, rather than the usual "every day as it comes" principle.
A better day overall. I'll take that.

question: have any of you personally seen a dietician (not looking for experiences with nutritionists, only dieticians), and did you find it helpful or useful, and if you did see a dietician and you ALSO have seen a GI doctor, how did the experience compare for you in terms of helpfulness + how much you felt listened to and helped?
#i'm trying to figure out which doctor appointments I want to bother making and spending money about for potentially no return on investment#and right now i'm trying to figure out if I'd get way more practical help from a dietician or if I need to suck it up and find a#not-elderly not-male not-dismissive GI doctor first and THEN see a dietician#although I cannot afford a bunch of tests#so like???#trying to figure out if a dietician would be more helpful overall with me not HAVING any GI diagnoses or eating disorders#and just really struggling with food in both sensory ways and unpredictable digestion ways that don't correlate with food allergies#god i sometimes wish i had food allergies so i could have some predictability#but yeah. i'm leaning towards dietician but figured i should crowdsource experiences#since I know a lot of you have health issues you've also been trying to manage for years and probably have good advice#if it helps i'm also in a major city now and have a decent-but-not-great health insurance plan so I'm good on those two fronts#to do#health#I know a dietician can't diagnose anything but I'd love help figuring out how to get maximum nutrition even when i can barely eat anything#or when my body decides to start getting sick from or (tw emetophobia) puking up fiber or fatty foods#which thankfully isn't often#now that I do cannabis daily in microdosing I have so much less pain and bloating and nausea#but when it hits it HITS#and the last time I tried going without cannabis for a couple days and then eating a fiber muffin I was sick six times in one morning#and didn't get my normal eating ability back until dinnertime#luckily that's not normal for me#but my issues bounce up and down so much#and I lose weight so fast whenever my appetite goes from 'barely ever there' to 'negatively nonexistent'#and I had like. two months last year where I think i reached my body's natural healthy set weight#and i needed so much food but it felt so good energy wise and temperature wise#and i'd like to STAY THERE FFS#and I feel like a dietician would be helpful for making meal options for good#*good and hard and nuclear alert level eating difficulty times#anyway. crowdsourcing. yay!

Tfw everything seems to make your throat burn and you don鈥檛 know whether it鈥檚 cross-reactivity or you鈥檙e actually allergic to this thing. And it鈥檚 not even pollen season yet. Sigh. My already complicated relationship with food has only gotten more complicated since finding out, too
