ok but why does Dream Drop Distance opening go so hard
#Like I was watching it with my brain on autopilot then Ansem pops up#Followed by Xion and Axel#Then THE ENTIRE QTE AGAINST XEMNAS COMPLETELY AND BEAUTIFULLY REMADE#Oh can’t forget Mickey uppercutting Xehanort and the wayfinder trio squaring up alongside Sora Riku and the King#It’s needlessly hype#Minus that part where Sora and Riku fall past the logo. I know it's his signature thing but I kind of hate that Roxas has oathkeeper and oblivion in kh3
#in my dream kingdom hearts 3 he gets a new keyblade for himself#but then so would Xion#the way Roxas is introduced with those two keyblades and then in his game starring him he never really uses them...#which follows Axel himself being surprised to see two keyblades

Nobody asked but I'm gonna start doing headcanons of what characters order at a bar (when they are of legal and responsible drinking age)
Sora: Screwdriver.
I don't have if it's not brunch. Sora likes orange juice and he hates the taste of alcohol.
Riku: Dark and Stormy:
dark island rum for my dark island boy and Ginger beer to help ease the nausea from his anxiety.
Kairi: Moscato Rose.
probably from a box. (Okay fine, a mimosa because she' following soras lead, but doesn't like vodka cause it's too strong.
Roxas: Jack and Coke.
Rum reminds him of Destiny Islands and he doesn't like it. He's not sora..
Axel: amaretto sour
Xion: Tequila Sunrise.
Orange juice for Sora, grenadine for Kairi, and then Tequila that makes you forget.
Ventus: a fucking Pabst Blue Ribbon.
He tried Terras IPA once and will ever try and IPA again
Aqua: Gin and Tonic
but she doesn't actually enjoy it. It's just what the bartender always makes her for free when they flirt with her.
So she would prefer a "Voqua Cranberry"
Terra: whiskey sour.
It has egg white in it, and my boy needs his GAINS.
Xehanort and Eraqus play that chess game but replace the pieces with shot glasses full of mystery liquors. They get hammered and start a keyblade war.
Master Yensid: just raw- dogging a bottle of absinthe
Demyx- Jagerbomb
Vanitas- buys a shot of the most expensive malt liquor, downs it, chews and eats the shot glass, gives the bartender a bloody gummed smile and wink and leaves without paying.
Namine: White claw./ Vodka Soda
Ansem the Wise- scotch. Cause hes LikeThat™️ .....fucking asshole
Hanger- Mike's harder lemonade
Pance- budwiser.
Omlette- Paloma
Xigbar- old fashioned
Jiminy: Bloody Mary
Repliku: rubbing alcohol

Today sucked have a very random analysis of 358/2 days and Curtwen
Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days follows Roxas, Xion, and Axel as they make their way through Roxas's 358 days in Organization 13, a cult that sees everyone there as disposable. Expect for Roxas and Xion. They both have the power to wield the Keyblade, a weapon that can release hearts and send them to Kingdom Hearts, a moon that their boss Xemnas tells them will bring the hearts they've lost back.
These characters, Nobodies, husks of full humans once with hearts now missing, are told they have no emotions. That all they're doing is remembering what it felt like to have these emotions, being lied to, believing everything they feel is fake.
Curt and Owen joined their agencies when they were young, who knows what type of future they could've had. They find themselves in a situation where they're meant to keep secrets, feelings locked away, trapped in cages. You don't get close to people as a spy, you may never see them again. They could die right before your very eyes, you just need to take it. Follow your training, don't forget about the mission.
This was the life of Curt and Owen for a long time, get in, get out, get to their hotel. Similar with Roxas and Xion, do the mission, and return to the castle (RTC). However, Roxas and Xion don't do that. Instead, they find themselves up on a clocktower eating ice cream, discussing the feelings they apparently shouldn't be able to feel.
Curt and Owen go back to their hotel room, they find comfort in each other's arms, able to let their feelings out to someone who understands. Curt and Owen understand. Roxas and Xion understand. Curt and Owen, the two gay men in their agencies who can't be out, who are keeping that locked inside with the rest of their feelings, and Roxas and Xion, young wielders of a mysterious weapon and who don't have memories of their old lives, who theoretically shouldn't be able to feel any emotions. Both pairs are outsiders in their own lives but find each other and it brings them something they didn't know they could feel. Love. Joy. Happiness. Sadness. Heartbreak. Loss.
They weren't meant to last though. Curt and Owen drift apart, Owen falls and finds new purpose, while Curt wallows in misery at his actions. Xion gets reprogrammed, remade to be a weapon for the organization, meant to fight against the one person she sees as a friend, who then forgets her because she was never meant to exist. Nobodies aren't meant to exist, not meant to feel or be loved. Neither are spies, you're meant to be quiet, keep your mouth shut and get the job done
And so, they both lose each other. Owen gets shot in the head, and while Xion and Roxas get to come back, Curt's left alone, left to remember a time where he and the one person who understood him were happy, those days where he felt some sense of normality despite his hectic life. Those nights together for them, those nights on the clocktower for Roxas and Xion. They were beautiful, and tragically temporary

Tbh, hoping for some of these to become canon. Realistically, looking directly at the dandelions and the "Skuld is Subject X" theory. unrealistically, looking directly at my fav lost kids.
Also, these are the ones that popped up in my mind first. Honestly my knowledge on the fanon stuff is limited even if i've following the franchise for a long time, so I really want to know what other fanon trios are out there! <3

I think if I said who my favorite characters in media were, it wouldn't surprise anyone here. Instead it'd be like that explains so fucking much while saying nothing. So fuck it.
A list of favorite characters from every hyper fixation I've ever had.
YuYu Hakusho (I would recommend both the manga and anime bpth are very good times.)
Yusuke Urameshi Keiko Yukimura Kazuma Kuwabara (I love Kuwabara he's great- He's amazing good guy.).
Since we're on Yoshiro Togashi's work anyway-
Hunter x Hunter
Killua Zoldyck Leorio Paladiknight Knuckle Bine
Detective Conan
Shinichi Kudo (I too am irresponsible and full of hubris I would have followed that criminal too at his age.) Ran Mori Heiji Hattori
Shaman King
Yoh Hao Asakura
It's equal but I lean more favorably towards Yoh. Favorite Yu-gi-oh series and protagonist
Yu-Gi-Oh GX
Judai Yuki (I don't think this says anything. I'm just correct, actually.)
Bleach
Orihime Inoue (Always forever sweet lady amazing girl.) Captain Unohana Oldman Yamamoto Toshiro Hitsugaya Kenpachi and Ichigo (I like them both to about the same degree.)
Naruto
Naruto Hinata Neji Shikamaru Sakura Ino Tamari
Oh, wait Akamaru. Yep that's every- oh and Shino! Wait and Choji. Probably Tamari's entire team, too, and can't forget Neji. In fact there we go he's up where he belongs. Naruto has a huge fucking cast. Most of them are interesting chaaracters. Bleach has a fucking huge cast as well.
Code Geass
Lelouch Euphemia Suzaku Akito from Akito the exiled (this is also correct).
Boruto
I'm committed to what I like-
Boruto Shikadai Chocho (this is just correct too actually I don't look in this fandom so fuck it I make this rule now) Himawari Inojin.
One Punch Man
Garo (I said he could beat Saitama in the manga and my nephews made fun of me because he's never won anywhere else. But that shit was a fight in the manga instead of a one hit out.) Metal Bat (I have a character type leave me alone. Yes, I recognize having Kuwabara, Knuckle Brine, and then him here sets a pattern. But I'd argue it's a good one.)
Chainsaw Man
Denji Makima Nayuta Kobeni Asa
Pandora Hearts
Oswald Gilbert Oz Elliot Marie Ada Sharron Lily
Spiral: The Bonds of Reasoning (Spiral Suri no Kizuna)(read this in middle school sooo this is going off memory.)
Ayumu Narumi Hizumi Mizushiro
Nabari No Ou (read this in middle school sooo this is going off memory.)
Tobari Kazuhiko Miharu Yoite Kouichi
Kagerou Days
Shintaro Ayano Seto Konoha Hibiya
Kingdom Hearts
Terra Roxas Axel (Lea) Xion Vanitas Ventus Xemnas (Look my first game was days and he was a decent boss). Larxene Sora
Oshi No Ko
Aqua Hoshino Akane Kurokawa Taiki Himekawa Kana Arima Frill Shiranui Shun Yoshizumi
Batman comics and animated series
Harley Quinn (since batman the animated series) Damian Wayne (since Son of Batman movie) Bruce Wayne (Yes, Bruce is below his son. I'm not sorry.) Poison Ivy (since Batman the animated series.).
Spider-man
Peter Parker Mile's Morales (from the films).
Calvin and Hobbes
It was the first thing I enjoyed reading. I don't think I have to explain this but I liked everyone that appeared frequently in this.
Deadpool (mostly due to the Spider-man team up comics and the movies.)
W.I.T.C.H
Irma Hay Lin Will Taranee Cornelia Elyon
Totally Spies
Alex Clover Sam
Martin Mystery (A show nobody knows)
Martin
Invader Zim
Dib Gaz Tak
Gravity Falls
Dipper Pines Pacifica Mabel Stanley
I was typing this up during that whole other thing people may have seen. I don't know what this list can tell anyone about me. It is funny to go over for me personally because a lot of the characterization stuff I like from Milgram can be found in most of these series. Which is proably why I have trouble actually picking favorites in regards to Milgram since all of the characters have traits I enjoy.
But yeah that's a little bit about me I guess. I do enjoy a lot of the characterization I see in Milgram. This is much more casual and generally being written up to give some idea of my likes. Though most of these are good watches, reads, or plays. Most are pretty well known but I would recommend Spiral since it's not that talked about in general.
Well, that's it.

Thinking about how tragic Axel is
Axel has got to be one of my favorites if not my favorite in kingdom hearts (surprise surprise I stole his name) and out of what I’ve seen people talk about how tragic Saïx and Roxas are and mention Axel when they do that but I feel like Axel doesn’t really get talked about individually typically only side by side with Saïx and Roxas
(Side note. Xion should also be talked about more but this post is about Axel rn and I will potentially talk about Xion in a later post)
Axel lost everything important in his life and the worst part is that for the most part that only happened cause he was in the wrong place at the wrong time. There’s nothing specific about Axel himself that requires him to be in the organization he was simply in proximity to Apprentice Xehanort at the time of the organization’s creation.
Starting with the first things he lost, his heart, his home world, and Isa, this doesn’t get talked about enough either these two lost their home. And they were only teenagers which is at a crucial point in development and loosing their hearts I like to headcanon essentially stopped this. (Again a post for a later time which will include Ienzo). Axel lost all of those crucial growing up years which will definitely affect him down the line and it kind of does. He also lost Isa. Maybe Saïx didn’t jump right on into the organization with clipboard in hand, but from what we can gather he was already trying to get in with Xehanort as he could’ve been their link to X, so I imagine Saïx would close himself off from Axel pretty quickly to prove himself to Xemnas. Leaving Axel alone. As opposed to members 2-6 (who were already close and who continue to be close as we can see in the 358manga and Lexeaus clearly cares about Zexion in CoM) who all still had each other in some sort of way, Axel didn’t have anyone because his only line of support in the organization would have been Saïx, but Saïx turned him away in favor of Xemnas (I know Saïx was doing this for him and Axel and did secretly care, but this is from Axel’s perspective and from his point of view Saïx is just cutting him off)
So for 10+ years not only has Axel lost his heart and his world, and his only line of support and I don’t think without hearts it’s very easy to bond with the others
Any of the others, not just the apprentices. We don’t get any indication Axel is close to anyone up until he meets Roxas and Xion. There’s nothing in any of the games indicating he has, nothing I’ve seen in the mangas (he does hang out in groups, but not often and never one on one with anyone other than Saïx, Roxas, or Xion) and I don’t have any of the other books.
“Why does he bond with Roxas and Xion then and not the others?” Thank you me for asking, the answer for Roxas is because of Ventus, and Xion is because he didn’t get much of a choice.
The following paragraph is mostly speculation/headcanon, but I feel like makes sense.
Axel who just lost everything from his old life including his best friend is now presented with this kid who looks exactly like someone he knew when he still had a heart. New name and outfit but this is the closest he’s gotten to having anything from his old life. And on top of that he was also ordered to watch over Roxas so he was kinda just pushed into spending time with him and when Roxas starts showing more emotion of course Axel is going to be invested. And Axel was incredibly hesitant to be friends with Xion but because of Roxas he did and he started to bond with her as well.
Things finally start looking up and then of course he looses everything again. And this time he looses one the things that he was put such a strong importance on. His memories. Not only did he loose Xion but he lost the memories of her. He tells Saïx he wants everyone he meets to remember him and he is constantly telling people to memorize things, and memories are incredibly important in this universe and Axel understands that. He’s also started to develop a heart again it seems when we see how desperate he was for Roxas not to fight against Xemnas. He will miss Roxas when no one else will.
Twice has Axel lost everything.
Throughout Kingdom Hearts 2 we see him trying to fix things in multiple different failed ways, tries going and getting Roxas and bringing him back, kidnaps Kairi, and then helps Sora in the end before falling to the Heartless, and it’s so sad especially because at this point Axel still believes Saïx doesn’t care about him despite Saïx showing (tiny) concern about Axel to Sora. Axel is just struggling to stay afloat at this point until he finally gives out at the end just to make sure Sora can stop Xemnas.
And then he wakes up to find out Xemnas hasn’t been stopped. Lea is alive again with his heart and emotions back, but he still has no one. Isa is still gone and not with the rest of them, and Roxas and Xion are still trapped in Sora’s heart. So deciding to try and do the right thing in hopes of getting Roxas out of Sora’s heart he becomes a keyblade wielder which causes him to come face to face with all of his mistakes. He has to face Kairi now being able to feel guilt. And it’s clear Lea is beating himself up over it. He’s on the right track but he’s still not doing good. Ie. breaks into tears over not remembering who Xion is and missing someone he doesn’t know. (Man that scene 😭)
Then he has to fight Saïx and Xion. He has to fight his best friend and the ending of that fight. Ahhh. Axel has to hold Saïx in his arms dying and even if he knows Isa will come back it’s still sad.
And finally we get to the end(ish) of his arc and he’s doing alright now with heart and friends back, but he’s still carrying the weight of so much and please I am fragile about this man.
I will go feral about the character who’s name I chose for so long and you cannot stop me anyway yeah he’s so traumatized and I need people to talk about that more because I feel like people focus on Saïx’s tragedy than Axel’s even though they’ve both lost so much

HIIIII so ive been thinking of a kingdom hearts life is strange 2 AU featuring Axel and Roxas as Sean and Daniel...
Axel starts out as like birth by sleep axel with his yellow bandana (that he gives to roxas) and over the story he starts to look more like axel... and im sorry but his hair actually follows physics and he has no hair gel while on the run... maybe he gets some in chapter 3 at the camp
currently thinking of Xion as Chris... because y'know Roxas giving her his keyblade and Daniel using his powers to make Chris believe...
also maybe "hotdog man" is "keyblade man" who is some superhero who fights with oversized keys sadalsdksa
ive been thinking about this A LOT im gonna be drawing this idea so much

I love how much gets implied about Organization XIII while none of it is shown to the audience. Like, we're just following Sora and Roxas, that's all that matters. But. There are so many implications about what else they were doing.
Axel gets sent on execution missions. Literally. To remove nobodies permanently. That's something he is shown to have no issue doing. Saix is tired and is one who regularly converses with Xemnas. Xemnas is assumed to be the one commanding a large majority of the Dusks in other worlds and what they do, like when they attack DiZ. It's implied that they have been trying to find DiZ and keep him from completing Sora's memories and such.
But all we see in Days is Roxas eating ice cream and making Axel like, grow a heart. I think that is so funny that the Organization, at times, was operating like a terrorist organization while Roxas goes to worlds, makes friends, fixes everything (like Sora) and then goes and eats ice cream while Xemnas and Vexen are creating beings and hunting people, and while Xemnas is commanding Saix to command Axel to kill of parts of the organization as an extermination measure.
Also Xion is having an existential crisis.

so much of the conversation between Saïx and Lea on the clock tower in KH3 is really just Saïx keeping up appearances
which isn't to say, for instance, that there isn't any bitterness in it when he says "You gave up," because even without his admission later on in the Keyblade Graveyard it's been pretty clear for a while that he feels like Axel left him behind, but the fact that this conversation even happens at all is purely from Saïx wanting to talk to Lea. there's no reason for him to be there otherwise, and while it's not stated outright, it's not hard to see that there isn't any real hostility on Saïx's part here
Saïx opens the conversation with "Shouldn't you say goodbye to your real home?" and although it definitely sounds somewhat antagonistic, it doesn't have anywhere near the same bite to it as his interactions with Axel in late 358/2 Days and KH2
(side note: it does, however, show that Saïx thinks a goodbye is in order before the upcoming battle, and given how much work Saïx has put into covertly helping the Guardians of Light and sabotaging Xehanort, I think it's likely Saïx intends to lose. this also paints his "I expect no less" in a new light if what he's really expecting is his own death)
he almost immediately follows up with the deescalation "I'm not here to fight," and yet through the entire conversation he still keeps up the appearance of hostility. most notably with "Face it. Roxas is just like our other friend. Gone forever," which is an outright lie and he knows it. sending the Radiant Garden scientists a replica body for Roxas was Saïx's idea to begin with, so not only does he know for a fact that Roxas can come back, he's been working to make it happen
one line in particular really makes me wonder, though
because the thing is, Saïx already knows the answer, even if Lea himself doesn't. there's no way he wouldn't know, not when Xion is also in the real Organization XIII along with him. and although it's possible that this question is also just Saïx keeping up appearances, I can't help but wonder if it's actually a subtle attempt at jogging Lea's memory
after all—
—it wouldn't be the only time he does something like that

rambling about the org xiii orchestra art
as someone in an orchestra for real
(from here)
I can’t tell what instrument Larxene has. I thought it was castanets and someone else suggested egg shakers but both are not traditional orchestra instruments so it’s really just weird
neat that both Xaldin and Lexaeus are playing the BIG percussion instruments, and both Axel and Saix are playing woodwinds (harp is a stringed instrument too so i make no comment on the strings)
There’s no [x]ylophone pun unfortunately because those huge tubes indicate that’s actually a marimba both Xion and Roxas are playing. There is however a pun in the fact that it’s a KEYboard instrument. also they’re just adorable
actually I just remembered that instrument names aren’t common knowledge, here they are:
Xemnas is the conductor/orchestra director; Xigbar on saxophone, Luxord on trumpet, and Marluxia on trombone (that’s our brass); Axel on flute and Saix on.... it’s hard to see but I think that’s an oboe (woodwinds); Xaldin on timpani, Lexaeus on bass drum, Larxene on... something??, and Roxas & Xion on marimba (percussion); and then Vexen on harp, Zexion on violin, and Demyx on double bass (strings)
Marluxia why are you holding a flower I know you have an aesthetic but you need both hands to play a trombone
There are 3 main instrument sections (kinda) that are the “obnoxious know-it-all” instruments, stereotyped as generally having a superiority complex over the other sections because they’re soooo important look at meeee carrying the melody: the trumpet for band, the 1st violin for orchestra, and the soprano for voice (and the secret 4th, the flute for woodwinds). With that said, of course Zexion would play violin
And following both that and his Mystery Gear in 358/2 Days, it would have made more sense thematically for Xigbar to be playing the trumpet. however the saxophone is the funny meme instrument so it still works
There is NO WAY Demyx is a double bass player. It’s the only instrument besides percussion that you have to stand up for (though some orchestras do have the bassists sit on stools), and it’s much more work to actually PLAY than the other string instruments, by virtue of being much bigger. they tend to play less than most other stringed instruments, sure, but if you want to be sitting around not doing much you’re best off picking a different instrument entirely, especially since string sections tend to require more unanimity in playing than the brass/woodwinds/percussion since there’s more people playing each part
harps are rare to include in compositions. they’re very nice and melodious though. idk what this says about Vexen
generally there’s not enough percussion players to cover every single instrument which means that Larxene is definitely running around to cover all the small parts (whatever she’s holding, it’s definitely percussion)... actually with Xaldin Lexaeus Roxas and Xion in percussion as well she might not have to but she is the speedy one so
--
I hope what Saix is holding is an oboe and not a clarinet because if it’s an oboe we get some more symbolism, as well as some very nice... dynamic between his instrument and Zexion’s :)
you see, the oboe is the instrument that tunes the entire rest of the orchestra. whatever the oboe’s A sounds like will be the A the ensemble matches. one could say it’s the most important instrument
HOWEVER, the first chair of 1st violin is nominally the most important instrument- that’s the “concertmaster”, and they get to walk on-stage after everyone else (but before the conductor, obviously). they’re also important for real- based on the repertoire they’re basically guaranteed to have at least one solo. they sit at the very front, right next to the conductor. in my orchestra the concertmaster has a little biography in the program along with the conductor’s
there’s actually multiple rounds of tuning- the first couple it’s the oboe doing their thing and the other non-string instruments matching, and then the last round the concermaster matches the oboe, and then the string instruments match the concertmaster.
and that’s all so very interesting, isn’t it
and finally
Xemnas is 100% a garbage conductor. To the audience he looks very cool, doing all his sweeping motions, but it’s impossible to follow as an orchestra member, so you’re really on your own because the conductor is not conducting properly and not giving helpful cues

No no they very much have sections you can read and all that so you have better understanding of what's happening. I'm glad you mentioned it
But to defend my own honor, yes I *was* aware of this it just barely if at all helped me personally because I could not put name to characters that weren't explicitly shown and named and it was a lot of information that I just did not absorb most of. If it helps it helps. That's what it's there for. It just didn't help me nearly as much as watching actual cutscenes did
So yeah thank you for mentioning all that!😂😊 but also while those things are a tool they just didn't give me much context personally (mostly because they didn't put faces to the names), but they are also part of the reason I decided I wanted to consume everything else, because I had no idea what I was looking at
hi i just got kingdom hearts uh whats it called. dream drop distance. on the 3ds is this an appropriate game to start wioh my god is that soriku. IS RIKU DEAD. cough sorry. anyway was my decision cringe as hell or fun and exciting there is no inbetween
Oh yeah 3d is hella soriku. It makes no sense out of context but good luck soldier
#btw man I hope hope this gets across that I'm not mad at you either 😂#I'm glad you mentioned it. I just didn't think about it this time#Also to give a slight bit of clarification to something I said#I do not mean that the reading portions are unhelpful because they are helpful. I'm just the kinda person when learning about something#that needs words followed up by demonstration if I don't already have any sort of basis in the thing.#That being said I think all I remembered was the whole thank Namine bit in recoded after data sora goes through castle oblivion#I remembered Roxas‚ Xion‚ and Axel and some of the days summary of their friendship but I didn't know who was who#I remembered the bit in BBS about Terra and Aqua visiting Sora and Riku#And I think I remembered some of the nort drama‚ specifically about Xehanort being Ansem tws apprentice and something about Mickey knowing#Ansem tw‚ I just didn't get the whole Xehanort taking Terra's body that made that whole portion make sense bit

The "Luxu is Ventus' Dad" Theory 3rd Anniversary Remastered Edition
AKA: Theorizing two characters are related based on their lack of screentime together. Because this post is now 3 years old and we have some more information, I'm finally rewriting it.
Due to the release and completion of Dark Road, we now have a more solid idea of Luxu's personality and can say with relative certainty that we never met the original Braig. That was always Luxu. This was always likely, since as far back as BBS the guy was trying to snag MoM's keyblade back from Xehanort, but Bragi's mannerisms being revealed as Luxu-isms basically confirms it 100%.
This means that Braig's one (1) shown interaction with Ventus is also Luxu's one (1) shown interaction with Ventus.
The interaction goes as follows:
Braig (who is Luxu): How 'bout you leave the popsicle with me, so you can go have your little fight with Terra. You can't be too happy about him deep-sixing your Master. Aqua: Who are you? Braig: You think you two have got some grand role to play. As if. You're only here so that when I finish you off... Terra will succumb to the darkness. So... who wants to go first? Ventus: Shut up! Braig: Oh, so this kiddo thinks he's a full-fledged Keyblade wielder? He's got the angry look down. Aqua: Go ahead if you want to waste your time. Keep trying to drive us apart with your mind games. It'll never work!
Now, this is admittedly not immediately promising, but it actually gives us a lot to work with. It's their only interaction, and it's not exactly a positive one. Even though it's only a bluff, it's still a pretty heavy threat.
[Please note, lots of things after this point, Tumblr has eaten at least once.]
But then, if it's their only interaction, then...
Why does he talk like there have been more?
For that first bit, we know he's not talking about Roxas at that point in KH2: Roxas doesn't glare at him like that during Days.
And the second image is even more interesting. Most people at this point are seeing Xion as Sora. Axel, one of her best friends, sees Sora's face. Xemnas, the guy who's made of Terra (who trained alongside Ventus for multiple years) and Xehanort (who trained Ventus for a time and grew up dreaming memories of someone else’s life that include him) sees Sora's face.
Xigbar sees Ventus. I dunno about you, but to me having one hostile interaction with a teenager ten years ago does not override psychic mumbo-jumbo better than knowing that teenager for a cumulative 4 or 5 years. Even if you have amnesia-- especially by Kingdom Hearts rules, those memories are still there, even if you don't have access to them.
(Before that line, he also comments "What a blast from the past." Wouldn't be a "blast" if they met, like, once.)
And, as of Dark Road, we know that Luxu is willing to let the people he cares about die.
Bragi's confrontation with Baldr begins with him saying "You... It was you..." in reference to Baldr having killed, like, a decent chunk of the people they know. This is not an emotionally detached reaction! Luxu cared about these people! Maybe not as peers the way they cared about him, but he did care! He does care about the ones that are still alive!
So what does he say after revealing his identity and disarming Baldr in a single motion?
He's not gonna do shit! He demonstrably could kick this guy's ass, but he chooses not to. Even though he cares about these people. Even though one of them is the grandson of someone he already demonstrably has a connection to from back before he wound up this jaded. That one, which he later on again did nothing to save, even with more and more reasons to do so stacking up.
Let's go back to the scene where Luxu and Ventus actually, you know, talk to each other, because there's actually a subtler detail in it that I want to talk about.
"Oh, so this kiddo thinks he's a full-fledged Keyblade wielder? He's got the angry look down."
In this one line of dialogue, Braig calls Ventus "kiddo." You might be wondering, "What's the big deal? He calls Roxas that all the time!" Yes, he does. He also calls him "Tiger," and Xion gets called "Poppet," both with notable regularity.
Contrast that with how he talks to, say, Sora. He still talks down to him, but he uses nicknames much more sparingly. In fact, he doesn't use any for Sora until Dream Drop Distance. All through Kingdom Hearts 2, the Organization is trying to stir Roxas' consciousness within Sora, but Xigbar doesn't call him any of the nicknames he used for and around the guy the whole time.
Not until DDD, when they've already given up on that plan. He starts out with a "sleepyhead", but there's a very specific moment I want to draw your attention to. A moment I may have neglected to mention earlier in this post, despite its relevance.
Xigbar comments on the thing Sora does that reminds him of Ventus. Then he calls him "Kiddo." And then he never calls him a nickname ever again. I'm not kidding. Never ever.
We don't see a lot of him interacting with young people outside the Heart Hotel, but we do see once in Kingdom Hearts three he calls the Real Organization's Riku Replica "Kid." Not "Kiddo," but "Kid." An interesting distinction, don't you think?
So, to recap so far: One interaction, yet Xigbar talks about Ventus consistently. He's the only one to see Xion with Ventus' face. He uses nicknames more often on kids that remind him of Ventus, and specifically uses a different variation on a kid that doesn't.
"Okay Ace," you're probably thinking, "I can accept that this proves a connection definitely exists between Luxu and Ventus. But why are you so sure that they are father and son specifically?" Well, I have a few reasons.
We don't technically know how old Luxu is, but he is an adult when Ventus is like 10 or 11. It's not impossible for them to be, like, siblings or something, since some people have kids pretty far apart, but it's not dreadfully likely to me. Based on my own experiences with my big sister, they don't really act like siblings to me, but I suppose that's a personal thing. You could say Luxu "sounds young" in Back Cover, but once you hit a certain point a lot of peoples' voices stay the same for a long time.
Nomura has stated that the next part of the series will be focusing on "bloodlines." We already know we're probably gonna be seeing Eraqus' grandfather in ML and that guy's probably gonna be Brain. Xehanort's already descended from Ephemer. Characters are already descended from each other.
Luxu is short for Luxuria, the sin of Lust. So, from a certain perspective, Xigbar canonically fucks.
